He got away with it for a long time between him and his family. He is not getting away with it. This is a whole new ballgame. Lets see what he does with guam. If he does something with guam, it will be an event the likes of which nobody has seen before what will happen in north korea. Trish will kim jongun listen to this latest warning . Or will this war of words escalate . We are on it for you. Plus china finally taking a position on north korea, in terms of that threat. China says it will remain neutral. Whoop he pe, if north korea attacks the United States but, if we attack first china will defend it is asian neighbor. Basically china not a whole lot of help. For the latest on the north korean threat i want to go to adam shapiro in bedminster, new jersey. Hi, adam. Reporter good afternoon to you, trish. There are allies on capitol hill, people that have been critical, like senator Lindsey Graham backing and supporting his moves. I want to read tweets the senator actually issued within the last hour. First Lindsey Graham from South Carolina said, just to be clear, President Donald Trump inherited the mess with north korea. He did not create it. Another tweet from senator graham said, in my view, giving the leader of north korea the ability to strike the United States with a nucleartipped icbm is simply unacceptable. Lindsey graham tweeting support for the president. The tweet we paid attention to before Lindsey Graham when the president issued this tweet, quote, military solutions are now fully in place, locked and loaded, should north korea act unwisely. Hopefully kim jongun will find another path. A lot of people very worried where all of this is leading. Of course secretary of defense jim mattis saying this yesterday afternoon. You can see the american effort is diplomaticallyled, it has diplomatic traction, and it is gaining diplomatic results. I want to stay right there now. The tragedy of war is well enough known. It doesnt need a characterization beyond the fact it would be catastrophic. Reporter so were waiting for what we call a pool spray, not essentially a briefing, but a chance for the reporters to ask the president questions when theyre allowed into his working space over at the golf course. This is a working vacation. This is, he will be working, a meeting attending on Workforce Development at 3 00 p. M. Secretary dehaves, general kelly, chief of staff, ivanka trump and jared kushner. They will be in on that meeting at 3 00. I think you will see some of that actually live. Back to you. Trish thank you so much, adam. Joining me right now for more analysis of the north korea situation we have former cia covert Operations Officer mike baker and Lieutenant Colonel tony shaffer. Good to have you both here on obviously very important day, very important time. Colonel shaffer when the president talks about all military options being on the table, when he says if they are to proceed forward in guam as they have threatened to do, that they will see something from the United States the likes of which no one has seen before. What does he mean . Well look, weve got war plans. The current one is 5015 which is consolidation from several others. I know from talking to senior members of the pentagon, that has been relooked, reinforced, the elements to support it are ready to go. We have lesser capabilities which are available. There is number of cyber options. There is special operations, what we you call shaping operations. These are all available as well. And as general mattis just said, the use of war would be catastrophic but the one point that the pentagon is trying to make as well as others the catastrophe starts with un, with kim jongun. He will be the one who suffers the greatest hell if you will. The chinese are well aware of our capabilities, and i think they rightly, this is more important than people recognize, them saying look, if they attack you, were going to do nothing, that is huge. We have to remember in 195253 the chinese are the ones who actually allowed, prevented General Macarthur from winning that war. So it is significant they have said that as a policy issue. Trish so are you taking issue with that . Theyre not willing to defend us here. Theyre supposed to be an ally and you think about all the trade that happens between us and china and theyre saying they will be neutral . They will not defend us . To that point i think the chinese recognize that they will lose the biggest if an Armed Conflict starts, economically and politically. By the way, trish, they moved thousands of troops on to their border because theyre worried about the North Koreans coming their way. I do believe i know it is nuanced but i think the statement is very positive. I think they will take more to help us behind the scenes then theyre letting on. Trish one hopes, one hopes. Then again we have not done all we can and should be doing when it comes to china. There is far more in the way of sanctions. We havent even scratched the sir fast. Hope is not much of a strategy in preventing nuclear conflict. I understand what tony is saying and this is enormously complicated, but the Chinese Media statement, essentially coming from the state is not good enough. Saying they will simply remain neutral in the event were attacked is not sufficient. So we need to go back to them and explain, im sure we probably already have, but we need to put them in a headlock in a room, not open that door until theyre on the same sheet of music we are regarding that. That is a very disappointing statement from my perspective. Trish it it tells me theyre on the side of north korea which we know anyway. They appreciate this instability and this buffer, if you would. Theyre on their own side. In it particular case means their allegiance is more to north korea than to us. Nobody parses words, nobody sends incremental messages better than the chinese authorities. Believe me, there are countless number of analysts right now are tearing their message apart trying to understand exactly where from within the chinese leadership it is coming from. The point being, when we look at again, setting aside all the verbiage and fire and fury, lock and loaded, all the angst that creates what are our actual options . Tony is right on the money. We spent years and years wargaming these various scenarios and trying to understand what happens when this spins up. Nobody out there should be anxious over the fact we havent thought this through. This thing has been thought through. Trish we thought it through, and doesnt seem any out comes, colonel shaffer are any that we really want. Walk us through the outcomes. Mike is completely correct regarding the nuance and he is correct we have been studying this. We have options, i started working with this when jim woolsey was director of cia. President bush had to brief woolsey on one of my operations. I cant go into a lot of specifics for obvious reasons, but let me say this to cover it all, there is lack of political will to allow military and cia to do what they could prevent the program or slow the program down because the idea was the policy was, from the 94 framework that president clinton signed on was appeasement. This is why everybody is is so disoriented by President Trump saying enough. We will no longer appease. That is why now 5015, other plans which have been put in place are looked at because there are elements you can execute well before we go to war and that is what well look at doing. Trish different times. Mike, good to see you here. Colonel shaffer. Thank you. Trish here is the thoughts on the north korean threat, republican congressman ron desantis from florida. Good to see you. What do you recommend we do . I think the president is right to say this policy the last 20 years has failed. Strategic patience what obama called their policy was basically an appeasement strategy. Sus san rice took to the the New York Times opinion pages to say we can live with nuclear kim jongun. That was their policy the whole time. That was irresponsible. The president is right to take this head on. It is trish i want to get back to that. If people arent familiar with it, in the New York Times, susan rice indeed said we can basically live with Nuclear North Korea and do so just as we lived with a nuclear soviet union. My point only would be, i think you agree with this, why should we . Why should we settle for that when this is something that can be fixed, should be fixed albeit, it is not pretty right now . Well, and the soviet union mutually assured destruction what really kept the cold war in check. The soviets you knew if they attacked us, we would attack them back an it really wasnt worth it. Kim jongun, look, this is a young, plump immature kid. Trish youre being died with plump. He is only there because of accident of birth. His family has run the country like a prison for decades and so yes if he rationally apprised everything he wouldnt want to attack the United States because that would be end of his regime as secretary mattis and president have said. I dont know we want to assume that he sees all this the way that you or i would see it. So he may not be approaching this in the same way that a rational actor would. And so basically if youre saying live with kim jongun having Nuclear Weapons, youre basically saying that this is a rational guy and i dont think we have enough information about this guy to say he is rational. Trish you run the risk, congressman, of being held hostage by the likes of kim jongun Going Forward. Any future issue, if he is not stable and he has nuclear power, an can point those things right at us, and take one of our cities out, then, he has a lot of leverage. Why are we going to allow anybody like that to get any kind of leverage at all . Well that is not good for Americas National security, youre right and understand whatever happens with north korea, if hes allowed to continue on this path then you got to look at other countries like iran which the iran deal is basically the north korea deal of 20132014. That is the same thing. Were be in the same position the next decade. Trish president town thought you could deal with north korea and get them to dismantle their program if you just were nice and all were getting along. The same thing with iran. Yet you add, in iran, the religious component to this. It makes it all the more scary. You know congressman, this sort of appeasement mentality learned through history, it doesnt work. Youre exactly right to point about iran we may or may not be able to deter kim jongun using conventional deterrents. Iran, given that mutuallyassured destruction may be an inducement for them, not a deterrent given their apocalyptic religious viewpoints, they having those Nuclear Weapons i think would represent a more significant threat. Trish what would you recommend we do . I think we should support the president , support secretary mattis, support the diplomatic efforts that are undertaken. Understand, let them know congress has their back, were speaking with one voice on this. Trish as country, right . This is what bothers me because so many members of the left now are out pointing fingers and theyre saying that our president is being bombast i can or irresponsible or just a crazy man himself for saying some of the things that he has said. I would point out that these are things that need to be said. These are things somewhat obvious, right . We are the biggest military might in the world, but it is important that this man, kim jongun, remember that. In terms of the lack of unification, as a country, how much of a problem is that going to be as we try to deal with north korea . Well its a problem especially because the last 20 years have been irresponsible. I mean, and you did have rhetoric flown around in the past but the bottom line is the policy had failed. So i think it would be irresponsible to could continue doing what the previous administrations have done. So this president is trying, the administrations trying. Trish change things up. A policy that can actually work. Lets give them a chance to succeed. Trish congressman desantis, thank you very much. Thank you. Liberty stands with you™ Liberty Mutual insurance. Trish President Trump says he does note intend to fire special Counsel Robert Mueller as he investigates russian meddling in the 2016 election. Mueller and his team of lawyers, were asking whether or not he is playing fair here. Lets start about the beginning. You have lawyers that have conflicts of their own. Many donated to democrats. Many of them donated to Hillary Clintons president ial campaign. And the judge overseeing the grand jury . She was appointed by the Obama Administration and has ties to former attorney general loretta lynch. My next guest says even the grand jury process has he devolved into a onesided farce that only favors the prosecution. Fox news anchor, former defense attorney greg yachter joins me now. Gregg, give me your reaction to Paul Manafort, news that the fbi raided his home. It may have nothing whatsoever to do with President Trump and any links with russia. It may be entirely the personal finances of Paul Manafort and his businesses and Real Estate Holdings and relationships with foreign governments as a Foreign Agent that predate President Trump. That kind of seems to be where its headed quite honestly. He was only on the campaign for four months and his job was very narrow, gather together the delegates for the convention. Then he left the campaign. So im not sure there is any connection between trump and manafort in a meaningful way. Trish muellers team, we talked about this before, it feels as though he has stacked the deck with players that are very antitrump or at least, we should say prohillary and prod nc. Sure. 14 lawyers, eight of them donated to democrats including Hillary Clinton the three quite generously to the Hillary Campaign itself. One actually represented the clinton foundation. You have got zero lawyers who have donated to republicans. So that seems to be inherently unfair and stacked. Then Robert Mueller picks of all venues, that venue which is most hostile to President Trump to convene the grand jury, that is washington, d. C. , where the president received a scant 4 of the vote. Hillary got 93 . Trish isnt that typical though if youre convening grand jury . No. Trish dont you do it in the place easiest for, in this case for Robert Mueller . Its a federal investigation. So you dont have to limit it to where the president may reside. There are great many other people who reside in maryland and virginia. There was already a grand jury seated in alexandria, virginia, for part of this case, the Michael Flynn case. Why not choose that one to at least have some bipartisanship on the part of the grand jurors. Trish he is also trying to do what is easiest for him. He is out there to prove a case, right . He has to prove a crime. And you would think about the incentives of just that alone, right . People who might consider himself having failed if he is not successful in proving something and this is the problem with the special counsel statute, and the directive given to mueller, by rod rosenstein, his boss, was unlimited, unfettered discretion and latitude. It wasnt just any links between russia and the trump manycampaign. There was a third line that says and any other matter. That is abusive, it is excessive. This is what happens. You know, special counsels become so invested in their staff and amount of money they put in and amount of time, you know, they feel like they have to have something to show for it. They often go off on tank tangential directions and ancillary players and never charge anybody related to the main focus of the special counsel. Trish weve certainly seen that before. Gregg jarrett, thank you very much. President trump making it clear to Senate Majority Mitch Mcconnell get health care done or else. Was asked whether mcconnell should consider stepping aside. Watch. Ill tell you what, if he doesnt get repeal and replace done, if he doesnt get taxes done, meaning cuts and reform, and if he doesnt get a very easy one to get done, infrastructure, if he doesnt get that done, you can ask me that question. Trish results. We need results. So far no response from mr. Mcconnell but list colleagues are standing up for him. Blake burman in he d. C. With the latest on the escalating feud. Blake. Reporter keep in mind, trish, Mitch Mcconnell has been in the United States senate since 1985. He has been leader for republicans in the senate for the last decade. What youre seeing the last day or two are republican colleagues coming to his side and blaming on President Trump blaming mcconnell for health care. John cornyn, number two in the senate, he wrote, i quote, passing the president s legislative agenda requires a team effort. No one is more qualified than Mitch Mcconnell to lead the senate in that effort. From susan collins, a health care no vote, quote, majority leader mcconnell understands the senate is deliberative and diverse body. He enjoys broad support in our caucus. Now, in the last couple of days here, President Trump has not hid his displeasure. You played a little bit of it there whatsoever, of mcconnell, after mcconnell said earlier this week that the president had quote, excessive expectations. Im very disappointed in mitch, but, if he gets these bills passed i will be very happy with him. I will be the first to admit it. Honestly repeal and he replace of obamacare should have taken place. It should have been on my desk individual you allly the first week i was there or virtually the first day. Ive been hearing about it seven years. Reporter one of those republican senators came out in support of Mitch Mcconnell is orrin hatch. Look what hatchs Communications Director wrote on twitter on this day, quoting again, if you think some email went out to senators yesterday to speak up for leader mcconnell, you would be mistaken. They did that all on their own he claims. Trish, back to you. Trish thank you very much, blake. So is it time for mr. Mcconnell to step aside . Joining me right now republican strategist evan siegfried, american majority ceo ned ryun. Good to see you both. Hey, trish. Trish im guessing you he has seen better days, ned. Walk me you through why he should resign. That would be an understatement, trish. What we have to start to acknowledge, both paul ryan and Mitch Mcconnell were barely tolerable opposition leaders and they have proven that they are not governing leaders. Go back to january 26th, they went in front of the camera, at the republican retreat in philadelphia, said we will get tax reform and health care done about it august recess because we believe that we have an obligation to fulfill our campaign commitments. And so when Mitch Mcconnell comes out and says that the president and his supporters have excessive expectations, im sorry, sir, you actually made those promises for seven years in regards to repealing obamacare, but also clearly stated what you were going to do starting beginning of this year. When you can not drive a message or a narrative, when you can not get your caucuses together to actually get legislation passed, trish, the leadership is so bad im beginning to think it might be intentional. Trish that is interesting. To pursue that a little further, here, evan, there is a lot of resentment within the Republican Party that has been directed at donald trump. You can admit that. Yes, there absolutely was. The election is over where we want to work with donald trump where we can and can agree. Because his success is our success. Trish really . Tax reform. Having a a real replacement here. Mitch mcconnell is not how engaging a petty grudge to derail President Trumps agenda. Its a joint agenda. Do you think he will derail tax reform after all these years. Look at reality. Trish paul ryan pursuing border tax the border tax was 5 trilliondollar shadow tax on americans, it was wrong but lets look at reality. What happens if we lose Mitch Mcconnell . Who would take his place . No member of the Republican Senate can unite the caucus and can move legislation like Mitch Mcconnell can. If you do that. What legislation . Ned what legislation . There is nothing. 200 days. Evan you can both agree, we had this information about inability to drive a message and a narrative. The thing that i am perplexed by, why did paul ryan and Mitch Mcconnell not sit down the week after the elections, say we have our chance. We have been raising hundreds of millions of dollars off of repealing obamacare. We have been talking about it for seven years. Now we have the white house. Now we have a legitimate chance to do this. Lets figure out how we get the Freedom Caucus and tuesday group and moderates and conservatives together to have a conversation about listen, nobody will walk away happy. Youre going to get probably 70 of what you want. Lets get an adenda in place, get a bill in place. Drive this thing forward because we can make serious progress. Youre not wrong on that but why play monday morning quarterback, first 200 days. We should have done it this way, that way . Talk about the next 3 1 2 years of President Trump in office, how he can be successful. Because of this. Hold on, ned, i would say what we can do, is stop having president attacking very people he needs to move things like tax reform, infrastructures, Obamacare Repeal and replacement. Do you think that wins him allies . They will knife him. They perceive he is weak president. When he wanted fda user fees increased congress and both house and senate ignored him. Youre going off the trail. He. Evan guess who is on the ballot next year . Not President Trump. Every republican in house and republicans eight of them are up for reelection. Absolutely every time President Trump attacks them, it helps democrats. The base is still with trump. Midterms are base elections. If they do not start passing some of President Trumps agenda which you and i both agree is not, were in agreement. We repeal obamacare. We have to have some sort of tax reform. He should call them down and say, let me help you help yourselves. The base is with me. Pass a couple of these agenda items, you can keep the majorities. Trish effectively, to help themselves. They have to do their job or guess what, theyre getting voted out, pure and simple. Exactly. Trish you will see some whole new party out there, ned, evan, thank you so much. Good to see you guys. Markets up 37 points here, paring losses we saw in yesterdays trading session. Nonetheless were off the highs of the session but pretty good as we head into this friday afternoon. You how is the market interpreting all the discord in washington . You how is the market interpreting north korea . I would say theyre taking it in stride. Do you buy now . Were on it next. That can be really serious. Especially for my precious new grandchild. Its whooping cough. Every family member, including those around new babies, should talk to their doctor or pharmacist about getting vaccinated. With some big news about type 2 diabetes. You have type 2 diabetes, right . Yes. So let me ask you this. How does diabetes affect your heart . It doesnt, does it . Actually, it does. Type 2 diabetes can make you twice as likely to die from a cardiovascular event, like a heart attack or stroke. And with Heart Disease, your risk is even higher. You didnt know that. No. Yeah. But, wait, theres good news for adults who have type 2 diabetes and Heart Disease. Jardiance is the only type 2 diabetes pill with a lifesaving cardiovascular benefit. Jardiance is proven to both significantly reduce the chance of dying from a cardiovascular event in adults who have type 2 diabetes and Heart Disease and lower your a1c. Jardiance can cause serious side effects including dehydration. This may cause you to feel dizzy, faint, or lightheaded, or weak upon standing. Ketoacidosis is a serious side effect that may be fatal. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, tiredness, and trouble breathing. Stop taking jardiance and call your doctor right away if you have symptoms of ketoacidosis or an allergic reaction. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash, swelling, and difficulty breathing or swallowing. Do not take jardiance if you are on dialysis or have severe kidney problems. Other side effects are sudden kidney problems, genital yeast infections, increased bad cholesterol, and urinary tract infections, which may be serious. Taking jardiance with a sulfonylurea or insulin may cause low blood sugar. Tell your doctor about all the medicines you take and if you have any medical conditions. So now that you know all that, what do you think . That its time to think about jardiance. Ask your doctor about jardiance. And get to the heart of what matters. Stocks are higher first time in four days but moving lower than earlier in the session, still hanging on up 16 points as investors try to consider this Nuclear Showdown with north korea. Meanwhile a benign rate of inflation means it is less likely for the fed to raise rates. That is what some are thinking. Joining me our very own Nicole Petallides who is standing by at new york stock exchange. Along with january any chief investment per mark luccini. Mark, start with you. How are investors interpreting north korea right now . Investor squaring the books going into the weekend, not knowing what could happen over course of a couple days if these rhetorics coming out of both sides escalate into something more trish squaring their books . Were still up 16 . That is good. Hopefully we hold into positive territory. I think investors are a little unsettled what is very predictable and fundamentally positive corporate profit climate and dont know necessarily where this might lead. I think at the end of the day the sabrerattling will lead to diplomatic outcome that will resolve itself postively, be good for risk assets. Meantime, obviously inserted a little bit of volatility into the market. Trish a little bit of volatility which is subsiding somewhat today. Nicole, one of the important things for investors to remember in these situations where you have these geopolitical events you may see market activity based on that. People get a little more fear in them. You see bearishness. But that tends to subside once the event is over . They react to the news and headlines and we have three days of high threats and concerns pertaining to north korea. Trish we still have those threats and concerns but what is interesting they digested the news. Traders specifically said they want to see if there are any developments and that will be the next set of news to react to. Were not getting big news at this moment other than were ready to go if needed. So you have 275point selloff and investors doing what they have done over the last year or so, which is cautiously buying on a dip. Theyre still going to gold and treasurys today. It is all on pretty average volume. Trish mark, how are you feeling overall about the market right now . Trish in general we feel pretty sanguine. The fundamental backdrop, not just domestically but globally is pretty good. We have synchronized global growth. I think the u. S. Economy is sturdy. You have relatively benign inflation reads. You had mentioned earlier which is going to give the fed no reason to accelerate the rate hike cycle that they anticipate the economy is going to allow them to proceed on here Going Forward and to me that is kind of a goldilocks environment that is a good set up for corporate profits to continue to grow, perhaps not quite as steep of a pace we had last several quarters which has been outstanding but grow nonetheless. What your alternatives are two handled on Government Bond and cash, it makes stocks inviting. Amazing youre seeing this market power forward. This to me is very good because my frustration over the last, however many years, nicole, has been the market highs we were seeing were not based entirely on fundamentals but rather on a Federal Reserve that was so accommodative, printing money continuously, leaving Interest Rates at record lows for so long that i really questioned whether the valuations were based on anything other than the sugar high of the Federal Reserve. Right. Trish were in a different environment however now where they have indicated they do want to raise and they have raised a little. The high hc, koolaid, whatever sugary drink. Money was made in the equity market, not making it in bonds or abroad. What is interesting we got in the latest cpi, and ppi reports. This time fed fund futures showing raising of rates in december, 40 . That is higher than past months. Well see whether or not they make a move. We had some reasons, right, fed, trump, great earnings over earnings season fundamentally a good recipe over well. With have had a good trifecta. Trish lets hope it stays in the green as we head into friday afternoon. Thanks, mark and nicole. North korea says it will remain neutral china will remain neutral but will back north korea if we strike north korea first. What should we deal with china now . What should we be doing with them. They may hold the key to all of this. Were on it for you after this. The u. S. I am absolutely grateful we all made it out safely. Its kind of one of those things you cant even. You cant even thank somebody. People you dont know actually care about you. To protect what you love, call 1800adtcares trish President Trump warning north korea today, our military is ready should you decide to do something really, really stupid. News today china taking sides on the north korea issue. In an oped in the global times the chinese staterun newspaper, china says it will remain neutral if north korea attacks the United States. But should the United States attack first, china will defend north korea. Joining me right now, Peter Brookes from the Heritage Foundation of his thoughts. Peter, do we know where china really stands . I wouldnt say they have taken sides. They have laid out their interests. Good to see it come out publicly. It came out in the global Times Newspaper which is often credit the unofficial mouthpiece of the Chinese Communist party. So i would consider this to be official. I think it is progress because china sent a deterrent signal towards north korea if you pick a fight with the United States, dont expect us trish stay neutral . Absolutely. Trish well stay neutral. That is progress . Yes, that is progress, because if the United States had to take a military action against north korea, china might come in on north koreas side. That would make a very, much more difficult, remember, 1950 in the korean war. North korea invades south korea. U. S. Comes in at inchon. Chinese come over the border. Youre generous. Youre generous. Here is the problem i have with china. They are stealing hundreds of billions of dollars worth of our intellectual property every year. They are stealing hundreds of billions of dollars counterfeiting notes. Were not doing anything about it. No quibble. Trish they have gotten away with it. No quibble here, trish. No quibble here, trish on that issue. And on other things as well. The south china sea, other things. But in this standoff with north korea, step back for a minute and think about what chinas done so far. Not much. In this case theyre sending a signal towards north korea, if you start this, you cant rely on us. They have an alliance. This is a major statement. But theyre saying to the United States at same time, if you start it with north korea, well get involved because our interests and chinas interests are not the same on the Korean Peninsula. Trish preemptive, but if were not preemptive here, we allow kim jongun to get himself to the point where he could fire a missile, and hit us right here in new york city, then, were living in a world such as susan rice apparently is okay with. You will recall her New York Times oped which she said we can live in the word with mutualassured destruction much like we did with the soviet union. It is not the same. It is not the same at all. Trish how can we get do that . Explain. It is not the same at all. We have hundred times more Nuclear Weapons than north korea. The president was right coming out strongly and remind north korea, if you start a fight with the night it will end very badly for you. If there is one thing authoritarian regimes care about, survival, staying in power for another day. A lot of people say kim jongun is crazy. I think he is crazy like a fox. I dont think he is suicidal. He does not want to pick a fight with the United States. He wants to deter us. He wants more freedom of policy action because he has these Nuclear Weapons. This is a very difficult situation with no easy choices. Trish he wants us out of there. He wants us out of there. He wants to take over south korea then . Yes, absolutely. Same goal as 1950. It hasnt changed. They invaded south korea to reunite the Korean Peninsula under communist government. You seen the success of south korea. South korea is capable military. They want the night off the peninsula and the peninsula under their control. Trish they havent changed but guess what, peter, we have. There is a new sheriff in town. We have a new statement, difficult kind of rhetoric we ever heard from the white house comes to dealing with north korea. Maybe they will think twice. Peter, good to see you. Thanks very much for joining me. Thanks for having me. Trish reports that u. S. Embassy in employees may have been the victim of acoustic attack. This is bizarre story. Diplomats, and at least one canadian diplomat are suffering from severe hearing loss following a series of bizarre incidents when they were stationed in cuba. They actually had to be brought home from cuba because officials believe they have been hit by an acoustic attack. An acoustic attack they use sound cannons over long period of time. That has an effect on the brain and hearing. Neil compelling two cuban diplomats because of incident. Cuban government says we never did. They are claiming their innocence. Joining me with more details on this developing story we have our own ashley webster. Hey, trish. Bizarre is a good word. Trish to go after u. S. And canadian diplomats . Yeah, what, there is not a lot being given out to be honest by the state department. We know at least five people, diplomats and maybe family members, no children, have been affected by this. Since the ties with cuba were reinforced through the Obama Administration in 2015, well he have seen more u. S. Personnel, staff and diplomats go to cuba. The question is, what was, what is going on . We are told there are a variety of symptoms that were being suffered, the most prominent one is hearing loss, which believes there could be some sort of covert sonic weapon. Is it a weapon or something used to gather data having this medical impact as well . Trish that is an interesting point. Maybe they werent actually trying to deliberately hurt them but he spying on them. Is it inside of the building or outside the building . They dont know. These buildings are owned and operated by cuba. Trish theyre housing by the way. And in the office too. Theyre trying to nail it down. Now cuba of course as you mentioned denied anything about, immediately appointed an Investigative Panel to look into it. But the fbi we understand also are interested to see, maybe a third country may be involved that cuba is not aware of. I dont believe that, theyre looking perhaps russia may have something to do with this we do know the cubans and u. S. For that matter have a long history of back and forth surveilling each other. If youre work in cuba for the u. S. Government you are going to be surveiled, followed, have your picture taken, they will list own to you. Trish you should keep in mind cubans had quite a history with russians obviously. The kgb, the soviet union. In fact those intelligence officials in cuba were trained originally the kgb.
