And the need to call out fake news, we are going to have more of that in just a few minutes. You know, a central focus in today was america and the need to put us first. Watch. The core conviction of the movement is that we are a nation that put and will put its own citizens first. [cheers and applause] and our victory was a victory for everyone who believes its time to stand upor america, to stand up for the American Worker and to stand up for the american flag. Im not representing the globe. Im representing your country. There is one allegiance that units us all and that is to america. America. Trish all right. I want to go to blake berman who is at the white house. We are just a short time ago the president signed a new executive order, this is another busy day for him, right, blake . Blake yes, it is. At the cpac speech President Trump wants to put regulatory business out of business, regulations coming in focus on this day as just a couple of hours ago President Trump signed executive order dealing with regulations as described as government wide reform, it will require every Single Agency throughout the government to establish what will be known as Regulatory Reform task force. The job of that task force within the agencies will be to evaluate the existing regulations and try to determine whether they should be changed or modified, et cetera, and the focus would be on costs and unnecessary regulations. Take a listen here at President Trump as he signed that executive order. Every regulation should have to pass a simple test, does it make life better or safer for American Workers or consumers, if the answer is no, we will be getting rid of it and getting rid of it quickly. Blake speaking of cpac thats where the president started this morning at the speech in front of conservative activists, covered a lot of different topics, among them the border wall in he said it was way, way, way ahead of schedule as he put it. He also talked about taxes and tax reform, more so in gener terms saying that he wants to make the new tax simple, more fair and that includes on the business end and individual side, trish. Trish all right, thanks so much, blake. Joining me democratic strategist and senior director of Research Jessica and republican strategist evan, hes the author. He covered a lot of ground there. In some ways almost like the Campaign Speeches he made a lot of promises in terms of what he wants to get done, evan, how much of this do you think is realistic, how much will he get accomplished in his first year . Well, i think hes already putting points on the board but hes doing them through executive action and what he needs to do that is do with congress and that will actually help energize republican who is might not be as in favor of him but are in favor of their elected representatives that they go out and toil and work hard to get them elected. I think hes in a good position because of the having both chambers of congress and he also is actually flexing some muscle by talking to the conservative grassroots activists. They are the very ones that he will need in order to pass his agenda. They are going to be the people pushing the public and pushing back against the uptick on the left in enthusiasm. Trish okay, you think about yourself, evan, youre a conservative. Youre someone who was not very excited about donald trump at all. In fact, initial you you may have disliked him as much as jessica does but you have come around. No, no, no. Trish over to you in a minute, jessica, you have come around, evan, and how is that . How did that come to be . What did what happened with you that you said, okay, this is my president and i want these policies to succeed and how does that happen with the rest of the Republican Party and im thinking about john kasich, for example, who is at the white house today . Well, i didnt fall and hit may head. Theres a time of campaigning and after the election ended. After that, whether or not we like the results we have come together, we didnt do that with barack obama because the president success is americas success. I think other republicans see that as well and we can band together and achieve results. Trish but this means also bringing congress along as he tries to get his agenda through. And jessica, theres political hurdles to anything. This is a man who comes from a business background. Hes run his own company. So, you know, part of running your own company is you get to tell people what to do and theres not necessarily the back and forth that happens on the political front. So, you know, hes hit a few speed bumps along the way, lets not forget, this is why americans put him in that office to begin with. They want someone who is use today calling the shots and getting stuff done. How does he negotiate his big businessman personality with the realities of washington, d. C. . Well, i think its going to be a difficult task for him. I think that congress obviously has more familiarity with this process as most of them have been there before and they know what it takes for all three branches of government actually to Work Together to accomplish anything. You know, i think that he has by in large been inching towards getting better. Obviously the trump is never going to go away, as he continues to hit some of the roadblocks a mentioned which haveo do with three coequal branches of government, he will start to realize more and more that he now has 350 million of them. Trish one thing i would say hes got going for him, though, is that hes got americans on his side in a way he may not have every member of congress on the side but hes got a lot of americans on his side. Let me share with you part of his rhetoric about putting the country first. Hes saying hes never going to apologize for protecting the safety of the American People. Lets watch. I will never, ever apologize for protecting the safety and security of the American People. I wont do it. [cheers and applause] if it means i get bad press, if it means people speak badly of me, its okay, it doesnt bother me. The security of our people is number one, its number one. [cheers and applause] trish you see i think that resinates in america right now. I think people has felt very unsafe and, you know, from both economic standpoint and actual security standpoint. And evan, isnt the number one job of our country, of our president to, in fact, keep us safe . This is sort of one of those basics that goes along with who we are as americans, we anticipate and expect our government to keep us safe and so even though the left throws a fit with some of his rhetoc and some of the things hes proposed, in other words, his intentions are right and his intentions may be very much in line with your average americans thinking . I think the left needs to realize that donald trump doesnt wake up in the morning and think how can i harm the United States. He thinks how can i keep it safe. Whether you agree with the method in which he does it is one thing but to go out and protest left and right saying that this is anarchy and should be impeachable is utter nonsense. Donald trump is in charge of keeping hes commander in charge and in charge of protecting the homeland from terrorists as well as to keep us economically viable and inspire Economic Confidence in the American People. Trish all right, i will see you in a little bit. We will continue the conversation. President trump meanwhile says he loves the First Amendment and loves the press. [laughter] trish but you know what he doesnt love, what he does, indeed, hate is fake news and he says hes not afraid to call the fake ones out, watch. Im not against the media, im not against the press, i dont mind bad stories if i deserve them but i am only against the Fake News Media or press, fake, fake. They have to leave that word. Im against the people that make up stories and make up sources. And i love the First Amendment, nobody loves it better than me, but the First Amendment gives all of us, it gives it to me, it gives it to you, it gives it to all americans, the right to speak our minds freely. It gives you the right and me the right to criticize fake news. Trish joining me right now media reporter for teill joe concha. Good to see you. Look, i dont mind reporters out there doing their job if its a story that, you know, is a bad one because i deserve it, okay, but i do mind is the stuff thats incorrect or to use the term of the day, fake news, can you blame him . Let me throw a quote at you, okay, you tell me if donald trump ever said this or not, white people built america. Never said it. Trish all right. A reporter this week april ryan brought that up to sean spicer and said donald trump said that and when she was challenged by another reporter afterwards on twitter, go look it up. It doesnt exist. Trish wow. Now, she would not apologize. This is a big problem. Im not going to let that go. She did not apologize, she did not retract, her publication, American Urban Radio Networks did not suspend her or reprimand her and shes right back asking questions again. Until theres accountability, nothing will improve and it gives donald trump the broad brush he needs to say, see, ith mistakes like that happen. Trish there have been a lot of mistakes. You point out a pretty glaring one right there. I even think about, for example, what happened several weeks ago with buzzfeed publishing a document that was obscene frankly and not sourced and other news organizations had seen it and passed on it because at what point do you start to turn this corner and you turn into some kind of gossip rag sheet as oppose to actual journal organization with real integrity. April ryan, with that example, seems to be making that turn into actual fake tabloid journalism as opposed to anything of any quality. Right. This is the Business Network . Indeed it is. Buzzfeed did not dossier, trish, they put that out because a lot of people clicked on it. They were curious to see what was in it, even if it wasnt true, its a good story. Trish business decision. Right, thats whats controlling journalism more and more, its all about clicks, ratingssubscriptions because there are corporations behind all these Media Outlets. Stock holders to answer to and thats whats going on here. The way you make money, trish, the way to make money is to be first instead of accurate. Trish its a scary time and its disappointing for journalists, look, to a certain extent, this field has always attracted lets say the english majors over the economic majors, okay, im just going to say that. [laughter] trish i think that there is a lack of appreciation for the more sophisticated policy aspects of what we should be covering and they are more obsessed with frankly the silly stuff, that is what it is, historically journalism has had a lot of members of the left and trying to pretend as though they arent in bed with the left. That hasnt changed, but what has changed, joe, the fact that all of this information is so readily available and and tweetable and put on facebook and shared in a way that we previously didnt see and thus rumors persist and the rumorville suddenly becomes fact or fake news that people think is real. Associated press, earlier this week, Associated Press has a lot of respect, they put out a story that donald trump is going to Guardia Nacional troops to gather illegal aliens. It was based on a draft and they just went with it, they want to be first instead of accurate. Trish look, i understand the point about sources, but here is the thing, when you publish a story thats a big story like that, you need more than one or two sources. You need to make sure that that is spread around in terms of your sources and, you know, you have to be cautious because there are people, i would imagine even people that are holdovers from the Obama Administration still working in the white house that want to see him fail and they are going to put false narratives out there into the press and if you dont have a report to triple check their sources, than anything can happen and that story gets published. If youre a trump supporter, 90 of gallup dont trust the media. Half of democrats dont trust the media. Trish in other words, america doesnt like the media. So when he attacks, guess who has the leverage . Donald trump, the institution that hes attacking is incredibly unpopular right now because every day theres some sort of mistake, error in this rush to get things out or to attract attention to themselves and thats the results. Hes going to keep on attacking because a free press, everybody wants, free and fair, but it doesnt make them immune from criticism and there has been thin skin as the president has been. Trish indeed, fascinating story. This would be the biggest story of the next four years, press versus trump. Trish who do you think wins it . Trump. When they make it personal when it comes to him instead of focusing on policy, here is how you cover donald trump, two simple boxes what did he promise during campaign and what has he executed on. Show that every day and check off the boxes, and by the end of the four years if all boxes arent checked off, thats how you judge them and dont start calling his mental capacity into it because you sound like idiots. Trish thank you so much. First time we have ever done this. Trish we the democrats set to n this weekend to pick new party leader as liberals are demanding war against president donald trump. The more this party moves to the left, isnt it actually the republicans who will benefit . Thats next. I was out here smoking instead of being there for my sons winning shot. That was it for me. Thats why im quitting with nicorette. Only nicorette mini has a patented fast dissolving formula. It starts to relieve sudden cravings fast. Every great why needs a great how. Donald trump has done a number of things which legitimately raised the question of impeachment. I think that we need to begin investigations to not go after donald trump, but to protect our constitution and the presidency of the United States. When he commits an impeachable offense, the Democratic Party has to be the last line of defense for our constitution and for this country. We dont have the luxury to take a back seat as this man is arrogantly marching us towards fascism. Trish theyre just going to impeach him. This is tir only option . Did you hear that rhetoric from democrats Keith Ellison voicing their very strong opposition to President Trump ahead of this weekends vote for the dnc chair. Its kind of like a race of who can be more negative on the current administration. Is this, i ask, the message that liberals really want to send to our country right now . I mean, shouldnt you be encouraging people to vote for something rather than against something . Rather than fighting for unity and bipartisanship you get Democratic Leaders chose to go wage total war against our president. Joining me right now former dnc deputy press secretary, jose, good to see you, jose. Good to see you. Trish look, you know, im an economics reporter, i look at this from a policy perspective but when i start to look at it from a political perspective, i question, jose, i question why on earth theyre going down this path where they their only option seems to be impeachment, why why dont they actually want to see our economy grow again, why dont they want to see job creation and why dont they work with the republicans to get something done in. Look, we want to create more jobs and make sure the economy continues to grow but what we cannot allow is for President Trump to undermine american values, we are answering to the American People. Trish where do you see undermining values . Is this the security issue, we played the sound bite before, my priority is america and americans and i want to keep them safe first. Sure, having a muslim ban, thats unamerican. Trish its not a muslim ban. Trying to deport 11 Million Immigrants that all they want to do is play allegiance to the american flag, thats unamerican. So most this is why trish theyre here illegaly, jose. Millions of americans are marching across, we saw it in the womens march, we see it across town halls, democrats and republicans are demanding answers from donald trump. He cant keep governing like this, he cant. Trish i want to probe a little bit more, i dont think hes asking for anything unterribly reasonably here. We have 11 Million People estimated illegally, theyre here illegally in the first place. Now, wouldnt you rather see us reform our immigration laws so that we bring the good ones in and we get the bad ones out . Look, we need immigration reform, we can definitely agree on that, but try to deport 11 million number one is unfeasible. Trish hes not talking about deporting 11 Million People, murderers, molest children. This is the same this is the same donald trump that on the first day when he was campaigning said that mexicans americans were rapist, they were breaking the law. The guy says one thing the other and does something the other day. Trish hes been pretty consistent, jose, he wants to get rid of criminals. If you committed a crime and you are here e willingialy, he wants you out. I dont understand why you would have you have a problem with that . Look, i dont look, we need to reform our immigration system. Its clearly broken. We can definitely agree on that, but the way trish why not work with him . Why do you say you want to impeach him . Hes approaching the whole thing the wrong way. Im happy to work with republicans, hes the leader of the free country. He needs to actually get things done that work. The muslim ban, thats the wrong approach. Trying to deport 11 Million People is not going to work. Trish its not a muslim ban, countries that dont have their acts together, those are countries that are known to harbor terrorists. Jose come on. Trish hes not asking for the moon here. It happens to me that theres a few other countries that also potentially have terrorists ties like egypt and other countries but he happens to have a bunch of hotels there. Trish there we go with the conspiracy theories. Saudi arabia is included in this, they do a better job all beit they do a better job than the likes of syria of figuring out who is in and out and sharing intelligence with us. This is primarily and precisely why president obama also named these seven same countries. I mean, jose, i think, you know, fundamentally here you should want the same thing as everyone else in that you want a secure country. We all want that and hes doing it in the wrong approach, which is why most americans disagree with him, the majority americans disagree with him on muslim ban. Trish i would only advice you again, im no politician, you better to work with him and trying to get what you want accomplied as oppose to all this impeachment talk. Im going to leave it there, jose, good to see you, thank you for joining us. We have a lot more ens in the ma. Intel. But thinkorswim already lets you create custom alerts for all the things that are important to you. Shhh. Alerts on anything at all . Not only that, you can act on that opportunity with just one tap right from the alert. Wow, i guess we dont need the kid anymore. Custom alerts on thinkorswim. Only at td ameritrade. Trish President Trump taking the stage at the conservative Political Action conference just a short time ago, promising once again to repeal and replace obamacare. Watch. We also inherited a failed Health Care Law that threatens our medical system with absolute and total catastrophe. Obamacare doesnt work, and the same people two years ago and a year ago were complaining about obamacare, and the bottom line, were changing it, were going to make it much better. Were going to repeal and replace obamacare. [cheers] okay, weve been hearing that a lot. I guess the big question is can the republicans pull it off, or is this a conservative pipe dream. Former House Speaker john boehner says republicans should fix obamacare, they could name it Something Else rather than repeal it altogether. Here he is. I shouldnt call it repeal and replace, thats not whats going to happen. And put a more conservative box around it. Trish whats it going to be . Joining me Brad Blakeman along with former massachusetts senator scott brown. Good to see you, guys. , thanks. What is it going to be . Do you think repeal and replace is really possible at this point . You bet i do. The president made a promise, there are two things wrong with obamacare. Its too expensive and doesnt work and the president made a promise, and now we have something we havent had for generations, that is we have a republican president , Republican House and senate, that have a mandate, and that mandate is to fix and replace and repeal obamacare. And thats whats going to be done. There are certain things within the bill that are going to stay, like preexisting conditions, like lifetime caps. Kids staying on their parents policy till 26. But the portability of it, the ability to buy across state lines, health care accounts are going to totally change so the bill wont look anything like obamacare. The president s going to do it and the house and senate are with him. Trish you make an important point, its important because he promised it, and i think americans will hold him accountable, and he wants to be held accountable to his promises. Ted cruz speaking on obamacare. Heres what he had to say, its a test, a test for republicans in the executive and both houses of congress, do we honor the promises we made . There we go, brad, on the issue you brought up. This election was a referendum on repealing obamacare. Failure is not an option. I agree obamacare was part of that, senator brown, and you know, you know the challenges. Youve been there yourself in washington trying to deal with some of these negotiations that need to happen, as you look at obamacare as it currently stands, clearly, i would say people on both sides of the aisle dont like it. It is universally disliked, but can you quickly put in something to take its place, and if so, what does it look like . First of all, trish, if you remember, they rammed it through before i got there, when i got there, there were 300 amendments they could have passed, fix it like today, and the democrats rejected every single one. Now they want to fix it. They know whats broken. Heres what you need to do. You can have faith based cost sharing accounts, which are now exempt from obamacare, can be part of it. Carry it across state lines, tailoring individual plans, cadillac plans, incentivizing businesses, give them the best benefits. So many things they can do. I have to get in the weeds a little bit. Because they rammed it through reconciliation, it has to start in the house where they can get rid of it through reconciliation. The question is what do you replace it with . You need votes to replace it and thats why you need democrats to change the rule because many, many. I think really and truly because you got enough democrats in the country, no, really, theyre constituents, theyve got to represent their constituents and the people dont have Health Care Options i dont disagree with you, trish, but you see the organized onslaught when the republicans talk about it, theres so much pressure right now on the democrats to actually keep obamacare, because its an obama legacy, and when you destroy that legacy, people get upset. Id be shocked if there were Many Democrats that would go along with changing it, unless they are up for reelection and donald trump won. Now does that bring tout 60vote threshold. Its a little shy. Trish so timingwise, last word to brad here, realistically, you know, when do you think it could happen . I think august, september. Trish august, september this year . All right, were watching for it. That and tax reform. Get a front row seat. Brad and scott, thank you so much. Theyre both tax reduction bills. Trish indeed, President Trump meeting at the white house with his old foe, Ohio Governor john kasich. This is governor kasich walking into the white house for the meeting. As the republicans are showing a united front here. The question is are they really united . You saw them at the cpac gathering and you had both Reince Priebus and steve bannon on stage together just 24 hours ago, so theyre really trying to create this perception of unity, and, you know, on the other hand, you got this rather energized left that keeps talking about the likes of impeachment. You heard Maxine Waters going on about that. Keith ellison as well. The question is will the republicans come together right now at this crucial time and get the work of the American People done . Thats next. Your Insurance Company wont replace the full value of your totaled new car. The guy says, you picked the wrong insurance plan. No, i picked the wrong Insurance Company. With new car replacementâ„¢, well replace the full value of your car plus depreciation. Liberty mutual insurance. Trish all right, there you have it, youve seen john kasich, governor of ohio, walk into the white house moments ago. Right now as we speak he is sitting down with the president of the United States, the man who hes had a rocky past with. Remember, in the republican convention, john kasich was in his home state, he didnt even go . So perhaps this is an opportunity right now for them to mend bridges. Im back with Jessica Tarlov and evan sigfreid. Its important that the republicans stick together. They need every vote they can get, weve seen some have drifted off. I mean you think about senator collins in maine, you think about the senator from alaska, betsy devos was someone neither one of them were too happy about. If you run this risk where you get a new stragglers here and there along the way, it makes it much harder to get your agenda through, right . Absolutely. Trish what role can john kasich play in bringing people back together . Much of what hes done all along, to be a voice of moderation to the Republican Party. To the liberal, hes position is extreme especially on womens issues. He balanced budgets in ohio, he works with democrats and is liked on both sides of the aisle. Democrats said they would have been okay if he were president. He needs to explain to donald trump that for instance when you have gop congressman and women coming out of texas saying that the border wall is not the best way to secure the border, listen to them. When have you Susan Collins saying i will not vote for Obamacare Repeal if it means to funding planned parenthood. Listen to her. He is now in charge. I think the ship sailed on the wall. We did hear m reiterate that again today that, in fact, the walls happening. And he needs to do that. Trish he needs to do it for his sfwhies that doesnt get built. Trish if no one tries to build that, then he runs the risk of looking like it was a bunch of empty promises. Nothing more symbolic than that wall, something hes talked about from the very beginning, and been such a lightning rod. Evan, back to the idea of john kasich coming into the fold potentially now. You know, donald trump, hes not everyones taste. Let me say it that way. I think he speaks very much from the heart, and what you see is what you get and thats in effect essentially his appeal, right . Thats why a lot of americans say, yes, i love him because of this what you see is what you get attitude. Thats not necessarily john kasich style. When i think hes not everyones taste or cup of tea, im including john kasich in that bunch. How does kasich get his head around the fact that this is a man whos going to say exactly what he thinks and feels even if its not necessarily what Everyone Wants to hear. Well, john kasich describe himself, hes like a store brand version of diet cola. Its going to make it tough. With john kasich or any other republican who might not be in lockstep with the president , they should find areas of mutual overlap and agreement. In ohio, tre is a massive heroin epidemic, President Trump talked about decreasing heroin deaths. Thats a great place to start and come together. They might not agree on every issue but do it there. Plus President Trump needs to work with Congressional Republicans in getting laws established because theyll be much more on his side when hes putting points on the board with him. Everybody likes to be on a winning team as long as theyre participating. Trish except for the democrats, right . Right now theres an opportunity to try and get stuff done, but do you think, jessica, and take the politics out of it for a moment or your own personal politics and look at it objectively, do you think that their rationale is we cant allow anything to get done thats seen or perceived as successful because any success he has is our loss, in other words, theyre looking at this as one big zerosum game . I think there are some democrats who feel that way. I happen to think that Chuck Schumer is not one of them. Spoken about the opportunities to Work Together on infrastructure, donald trump wants a trillion dollar spending bill for that. Sure, well be right there spending with you. There are ways to repair obamacare that we can do together. The democrats need to budge on being able to purchase insurance across state lines and make sure that obviously we can keep preexisting conditions and kids stay on insurance until 26 and americans have a favorable view of obamacare. Have somewhere where we can meet. Trish lets not forget in all of this, americans frustration has not been with necessarily either party. Donald trump, as you mentioned the infrastructure spend, thats something that could be seen as very much a democratic principle, a principle of the Democratic Party. Totally. Trish its not a partisan country so much as it is a country that is really fed up with politicians not wanting to get anything done, and i think thats where the democrats are coming up short as they continue this message week dont want to play ball. Were going to take our ball and go home, theyre going to continue to run into trouble. Jessica, evan, good to see you guys, thank you so much. Have great weekend. Trish you, too. President trump ghlighting the violence plaguing chicago. 7 people shot and killed yesterday in chicago. What is going on there . Totally out of control. Chicago needs help. Does that mean we send in the feds . So much for rahm emanuel and his ability to control his city. Were going to talk about the details and the white house plan to get chicago and other inner cities under control. Thats right after this. Trish homicides in chicago are outpacing last year after experiencing deadliest day so far this year. Seven people were murdered on wednesday, including a woman who was eight months pregnant. Our president , who had been very vocal on the escalating violence on the city weighed in today at cpac. Take a listen. Im also working with the department of justice to begin reducing violent crime. I mean, you can believe whats happening in chicago as an example . Two days ago, seven people were. Seven people. Seven people. Chicago. A Great American city. Seven people shot and killed. We will support the incredible men and women of law enforcement. Trish lets go to our very own jeff flock in chicago with the details right now. And jeff, its pretty tragic when you see the number us and think about all of these deaths that have happened, and i just i question, i mean right here in the United States of america, how we can have an area like this that feels far more like a third world crime scene than anything you would see in the streets of the usa . Reporter parts of this community i think are fair to say, are like that, im in one of them right now. Im in the back of the yards neighborhood. This is a memorial to all of the People Killed. I say all, not near all, but some of the People Killed in gang violence. This is the back of the neighborhood. Hispanic gangs run in this neighborhood. That may begin perhaps to erode some of the opposition to the president s plans to deport what hes called the bad hombres. Take a look at the numbers you mentioned. February of last year, we got to 99 homicides on the 24th. This year we got to 99 homicides two days earlier. This is after a terrible year last year. If you put the numbers up. The president tweeted today and you mentioned it, seven people shot and killed wednesday. Deadliest day of the year, totally out of control. Last year some would say totally out of control. 762 murders in chicago last year compared to half as many in new york. Less than that, and los angeles, both cities with much larger populations. The president , as you pointed out, has said we may have to send in the feds. And now maybe the opposition to that, trish, is melting away. Mayor Emanuel Trish hang on one second. Im just going to jump in. John kasich right now is speaking on his meeting with the president. Lets listen. The Affordable Care act, Medicaid Expansion. He said he was very intrigued with the idea, and im going to have a meeting tomorrow at his direction to secretary price. So well have a meeting to talk about the things that my team has been working on. Dont know where that will all go, but i will tell thought president was, you know, he listened very carefully to what i had to say about it, and had a very positive response and he was very open to it, and asked a number of questions, and then he was able to call a couple other people in. We talked about the whole range of issues, including the high cost of pharmaceuticals contained in the medicaid plan, which is very interesting. I made my suggestions about what we should do in regard to those rising costs. I told the president that having been at Munich Security Conference that is very important for the administration to speak with one voice. He listened and acknowledged it, i think was somewhat taken aback, though he had the Vice President and the general over there that sometime people want to hear from him and he listened to that. I also talked a little bit about the issue of of the problem of the digital changes of our economy, and how it can leave people behind who frankly dont have the skills to take the next set of jobs. I think that will be for discussion a little later on, but all in all, the chief of staff came in, jarrod came in, gary cohn was in during the meetings and, you know, im im very optimistic about, that the president heard, you know, my concerns about the Affordable Care act and what we do to change it, and you know, the result is tomorrow ill be meeting with priebus and secretary price with my team, and sort of lay the way in which we can reform it, save money, and make sure people arent left behind. Governor, can you elaborate on just that . Look, ive been arguing all along, in oped piece and everything else, that we should take Medicaid Expansion from 130 to 100. Move people from 138 to 100 on the exchange. Stabilize that marketplace, provide flexibility in the area of that health package; that the federal government ought to get its nose out of the business where it created disruptions and deal with the problem of the pharmaceutical industry and their high costs. So i kind of covered everything two or three times because different people kept coming in the room, and you know, i at one point made it clear that i have been a guy look, i dont care what the republicans do on this, if they do something i think is wrong, im going to speak out, and in a larger group with the president there, i said, look, all my career, when i agree with republicans, i agree with them. When i dont, i speak out. And they said they noticed. That and nothing is going to change, and im glad they came. The president was very generous with his time and he listened a great deal to my concerns. We also talked about the problem of drug abuse. We talked about the problem of human trafficking. We covered a wle series of things in there and we just moved forward. You and the president have not always had the best relationship. Did your past relationship come up at all . No, not at all. It was a chuckeel oo pardon . Are you going to bury the hatchet . This is the strangest thing, since i was a young congressman, i voted against Ronald Reagans troops in lebanon. I killed the b2 bomber with republican president. I proposed my own budget with the president s budget. These things are not personal, theyre things ive always done in my career. You know, i had a mother that taught me to stand on my own two feet and speak out. I never meant any of these times to be personal in my criticisms or concerns. Reporter [inaudible] it was never really anything that came up, and when i made the comment that, look, throughout my career when i agree with something, i speak out, when i dont, you know, you criticize it. If im not being selfrighteous, and one of the voices in the room said we noticed that. That was it, we all kind of laughed. Did your opinion of the president change . You didnt seem particularly impressed with him as an individual. I think youre look, the man is the president of the United States. Its sort of like being on an airplane. You want to root for the pilot if youre on the airplane with the pilot. You dont want the pilot to screw up. Look, ive been around too long, and i feel so strongly about my faith to be not they succeed in it all the time, but to be personal. I can have my opinions but now its time to be constructive. And sometimes being constructive is to not be positive. You know, to make your point. And im very glad that ive been able to make my point on the business of obamacare and Affordable Care act, and im going to continue to make it. If it upsets republicans in the congress, i mean, thats life. Reporter the president has a successful start to his time in office . Look, i also told him that i remember back when i first became governor, there was some things i was doing to the point where my wife said to me, youre the father of ohio. Act like it. It tak time for people to get stabilized. And we all want to wish this president the best. But that doesnt mean when i wish him the best, there might be things i see that i dont agree with, and im going to say that. Im not trying pull him down or anyone else down. Im not red or blue, im red, white, and blue. I want to put america first, not my party. If some arcane ideology. I mean, if i can help my country, im going to do what i can, and it comes in various base and packages. Whats the reaction to the details of the house replacement plan . Can you share the plan . I said it was inadequate. Reporter you disagree . Completely. Isnt that lear . Reporter nothing about it you agree . Nothing about it . Thats enough to say its not acceptable. Look, i dont know what they can jam through, you know . I dont know what i can jam through, but the fact of the matter is that i dont agree with that, and ive been clear about it and continue to be, thank you very much. Trish all right, that was john kasich briefing reporters on his meeting he just had with the president. He was talking about his criticism of obamacare and the need to replace it in a meaningful way that would be best for everyone. I want to turn to another story right now because theres a lot of media outrage right now thats happening because white house spokesperson sean spicer excluded a lot of Media Outlets from the briefing today. Our own White House Correspondent blake burman is here and going to explain what this is all about. Clue us in. Reporter let me try here, trish, last night there was an email sent out that put out the daily schedule here, and it included oncamera gaggle, oncamera session with the White House Press secretary sean spicer. At noon today that was changed from being in front of the camera to offcamera, and it was called an expanded pool, meaning certain people who cover the white house on that day, designated, by the media and some other outlets. When it got time to meet with mr. Spicer for the gaggle, folks within the media were told you werent invited. Others were told come on through, youre a part of this list. Were led to believe it was 20 or so reporters in there which leads to the question why were some allowed in . Why were some not allowed in . I asked the white house folks within the press office about it, spoke to one person a little while ago, and their argument is this, trish. They say that this is a gaggletype situation that they do often. They argue it was actually expanded, meaning a lot of people could go through and be a part of it, however, lots of folks here at the white house, unhappy media members as to why some were allowed, in some werent. All of this surround the umbrella of the president talking about fake news. Trish well, you know, you want to be fair and give access to as many members of the media as you can, i guess. Thank you so much for breaking it down. Blake burman, everyone. President trump taking aim at the fbi in a series of tweets today, blaming the agency for failing to stop all these leaks to the media. Joining me former cia analyst fred fleiss. Does he have a point . Whats going at the fbi that theyre all kibbutzing with members of the media telling them this, that and the other, some of which isnt true at all . Trish, i think theres a perception that theres some conspiracy in the Intelligence Community to hurt mr. Trump. I think most of the leaks have come from obama holdovers. I think this is going to become a less serious problem as time goes on, but you know were never going to kill leaks and know from history, the government tilts to the left. And there are more leaks toward a republican presidency. Trish how do you run a place when you got a whole bunch of Staff Members that are effectively trying to conspire against you . Look, i hear you, hopefully theyre getting the thing under control. What can he do to control it himself . Trump needs to get his people into the agencies. Theres republicans and nonpolitical people. They dont like the leaks eefrjt they dont like the partisan hacks, if trump got his people into the agencies, he could find the sources of leaks and know where theyre coming from. Trish thank you so much, have a terrific weekend, everyone. Liz claman is take you through the close of trading right now.
