Liz President Trumps statements on infrastructure erupted into an explosive fight with the press about his comments about charlottesville. Hes coming out swinging about his statements about saturdays violence in charlottesville, virginia. And he also defended chief white house strategist steve bannon. Welcome to risk and reward im elizabeth macdonald. Again, the president was expected to talk about his pro growth agenda signing a new executive order cutting red tape to ramp up Infrastructure Project spending. With an emphasis on a lot of things that could make a big difference in the economy, including jobs. He ended up firing back at many reporters instead. Lets take it to blake burman. Hes got the latest on the fireworks trump tower in new york city. A Contentious Exchange, right, blake . Yes, and this was impromptu, liz. This was not supposed to be a questio questionandanswer session. We were told between the president and reporters there. It was combative, i guess you could say between the president and the small group of reporters inside trump tower in which everything wolff, or at least most of it into the president s response and what happened in the ground on charlottesville, virginia on saturday. He defended his response and said both sides of the protest shouldered some sort of blame. The president , as you know on saturday did not specifically name any of the groups that were involved with the protest for which he took some criticism. And the president was asked about that a little while ago and said of his decisionmaking process that when he makes statements, he said, he likes to have all the facts. Trump before i make a statement, i need the facts. So i dont want to rush into a statement. So making the statement when i made it was excellent. Now, the president on saturday initially denounced the violence that was he said on quote many sides. Inside trump tower just a little while ago, he also went back to that narrative saying that both sides are to blame. Trump i think theres blame on both sides. You look at both sides, i think theres blame on both sides, and i have no doubt about it, and you dont have any doubt about it either. Liz, the president was also asked about his chief strategist, steve bannon, and he was asked pointblank whether or not steve bannon is a racist. As you know in the recent days, there have been democrats who have been calling for the firing of bannon, formerly with Breitbart News who they link to the altright movement and the president said that he does not believe that bannon is a racist. He said he believes that bannon is a good person. But theres also another story line here surrounding bannon, and that is his status within the white house. And the president didnt appear to put bannon on solid footing as he said of bannon quote well see what happens. Liz, back to you. Liz thank you, blake burman. Lets take this to the power panel, former finance Committee Member and Washington Times columnist madison. A Contentious Exchange filled with fireworks. The president is saying about his initial statement i didnt have all the facts. It seems hes talking about the identity of the driver who plowed into that crowd and killed the woman. But he did have the facts, didnt he that there were White Supremacists showing up . I dont think that he was unaware that there were white supremacist there. But i think what he was saying is that he did not have all of the facts in terms of the timeline of what happened. How did this escalate to the point that we were at saturday and the point that we ultimately got to past saturday into monday when he made his followup statement . I think its very important that he waited to speak definitively on monday when he did have all the facts. You know, listen, theres no place for hate in my heart, my home, or my country. But at the same time, i do not want to speak out against anything without having the facts. Of course, trump has spoken out before against the kkk. Liz but what theyre upset about is he said many, many sides instead of naming names; right . Madison. Naming the names of the kkk and the White Supremacists. Look, let me back up. This is political strict nine for the president. White supremacist. This is a problem. This is his third rail. And you know what . The American People, it seems that theyre tired of this political identity politics on the left and on the right. They want jobs. The irony is its about infrastructure and jobs, the president said, jobs fixes Race Relations. Go ahead, al. Well, to some degree. But when president clinton was in office, and we had a or your economy and 20 million new jobs, we had bad Race Relations. And frankly, the president stepped on his message yet again today. But today went beyond that. I mean, im just going to say this. What he said today was despicable. Equating both sides both sides did not use isislike tactics to ram into a crowd and kill innocent americans. Liz i have to push back on you on that because we have seen the video, al. There were baseball bats brought, they were wearing black hoods, there was violence from the left as well. That was the president s point; right . And were showing it right now on camera. Theres real violence from the alt left here. I understand that, liz, and violence isnt appropriate from wherever it comes from. The anarchists, the altright and the alt left but to equate protesters who bring violence to a rally with domestic terrorists, the kkk liz al, come on. Youre not really going to basically say its okay; right . That the alt left is okay to bring violence to a rally. Is that what youre saying . Of course not. No. No. What im saying is that the president is trying to draw an equivalence between protesters on the left who occasionally are violent liz occasionally . Let madison i get your point. Madison, go ahead. So you would like to say just because in the one instance where the woman was hit by the car. Liz which is a disgrace. Absolutely terrible. Someone could have hit the person in the wrong part of their head, and they could be dead too. The violence is unacceptable from either side. Are you kidding me . No, im not kidding you. Liz lets get the president on Race Relations. Listen. Trump i think theyve gotten better. Look, theyve been frayed for a long time, and you can ask president obama about that because he made speeches about it. But i believe that the fact that i brought in it will be soon millions of jobs. You see where companies are moving back into our country. I think thats going to have a tremendous, positive impact on Race Relations. Liz okay. Lets talk about jobs for a second here. Madison, this the irony is hes talking about infrastructure. Why do i say irony . Okay. Theres dc gridlock; right . Theres mediainduced gridlock because of the gotcha politics. Like to cover that. But theres serious gridlock in the United States. I mean, we have not had a new airport since 1995. That 90yearold bridge that connects canada into america, 200 billion in trade, the number one trade venue. Its crumbling. Hes talking about infrastructure and jobs, madison. Go ahead. You know, i said it so many times before. Ill say it again. People in the United States of america are sick of people in congress who do not work for them. They work for themselves, their personal and political interest. And President Trump is making a very valid point here that we need to see change. Something that could take five years or two years should not take 20 years. Its ridiculous something should cost 5 costs 50. The American People are sick of overpaying and receiving results too late or sometimes not at all. Liz lets get back to the president firing back at the press. Roll tape. Trump if the press were not fake and if it was honest, the press would have said what i said was very nice. But unlike you excuse me. Unlike you and unlike the media, before i make a statement, i like to know the facts. That was a horrible, horrible day wait a minute. Im not finished. Im not finished, fake news. That was a horrible day. I watched those very closely. Much more closely than you people watched it, and you have a you had a group on one side that was bad, and you had a group on the other side that was also very violent. Liz al, i want you to finish your thought on this. Go ahead. Well, i like it when leaders match their private feelings with public courage. When the merck ceo says enough is enough. When senator orrin hatch or republican lifelong says you have to call evil by its name. What this president is not doing is matching their public courage, and its disappointing. Liz you know, were going to get to the manufacturing counsel story in a moment. Four of those members stepped down. A big union leader is sticking hes staying on that manufacturing counsel. Were going to get to that in a moment. But President Trump, again, clearly condemning the attack and the violence on saturday. Listen. Driver of the car is a disgrace to himself, his family, and his country. And that is you can call it terrorism. You can call it murder. You can call it whatever you want. I would just call it as the fastest one to come up with a good verdict. Thats what i would call it. Because there is a question. Is it murder . Is it terrorism . And then you get into legal semantics. The driver of the car is a murderer. And what he did was a horrible, horrible inexcusable thing. Liz all right. Ted cruz, madison is saying hes a domestic terrorist. We know that theres domestic terrorism going on, madison. The president s point here is throw the book at him; right . Absolutely. I mean, this poor young woman, her life was taken way too soon. Its unacceptable what happened again on saturday. And, you know, we have to look to section i think 802 of the usa patriot act. That expanded, you know, the definition of terrorism to include domestic terrorism. And thats exactly what theyll be looking at when they take into account what happened and how this life was lost. Liz you know, getting to that manufacturing counsel story, al, you had raised that about the merck ceo leaving. Here are people saying look whos sticking. Richard, the head of the aflcio. We know that michael dell of Johnson Johnson is staying on the panel. Isnt it better to be at the table and not on the menu . You want to sit there and fight for what you believe in right, al . Well, i obviously engaging with government is in the interest of companies and their shareholders and customers and the like. But obviously, the merck ceo as he said enough is enough. He wanted to leave, and thats his right to do so. I dont think his companys going to be harmed by that. But, you know, its not just him, its the president of the alliance for american manufacturing. You know, the president today criticized the merck ceo saying that he had jobs overseas. Well, the head of the American Alliance for manufacturing decides to leave too. So there is a lot of discontent. I dont think the president did himself any favors today, by the way. Liz but you know what . What needs to be done is fixing Economic Policy in the United States, and thats why both sides of the political aisle actually 8 million obama voters voted for trump. So thats something that the democrats have to contend with. Al, madison, you will be back in just a bit. And if you want to hear the whole back and forth of fireworks between the president and the press, fox business will have it in its entirety at 6 00 p. M. Eastern time on making money. Lets take a look at your money. Stocks close little changed as retail names like Dicks Sporting Goods and home depot fell shortly. Oil dipping four cents settling at about 47 a barrel. Notably secretary of state tillerson saying the u. S. Is calling for denuclearization of the peninsula. Not for regime change. And the secretary of defense let me back up. Denuclearization of north korea. And the secretary of Defense James Mattis gave the rogue nation a stern warning. Lets listen. If they fire at the United States, it could escalate into war very quickly. Yes, thats call war if they shoot at us. If they do that, then its game on. Liz this as top u. S. Officials also south koreas president and now china still pushing for a diplomatic solution to north korea. South korea also warning no unilateral action will take place on the peninsula. London center for policy research, he is a former ciatrained defense Senior Intelligence officer. Look whos here. Retired Lieutenant Colonel tony safer joins us. Good to see you, colonel. What do you think of north korea backing down . I have problems with newark as well. I always get made fun of for that. But, look, this was something we knew if you showed strength, they would do. We always have to remember. This is all about the survival of one man. Kim jongun. It was like that before his father and his father before that. The north Korean People mean nothing. So what you have to do any time the situation like this arises, which i think every Administration Since the president Clinton Administration missed is you have to make this personal. You have to make it so the man in charge understands that something he does has a an effect on us. Theres going to be a consequence on him. So i think President Trump, general mattis, general dunn ford, everybody secretary of state tillerson all uniformly said theres going to be consequences here, and we mean it. So i think this is where weve completely departed from the past. And the second thing now is to make it clear. Theres going to be no pallets of 100 bills on c130s to be dropped off. Liz does this show President Trumps hard line work . The Trump Administration said it would sit down in talks with north korea. Theres flexibility here as long as it gets rid of its nukes; right . Absolutely and that has not changed. The idea, though, that they can fire a missile, a rocket against us directly, threaten us directly and that thereby no consequence. I think now we have to work with china to move the North Koreans towards a negotiated stance. And, again, the chinese have also said along with us that there needs to be a denuclearization of the peninsula, especially of north korea. The other thing were worried about, frankly, is the idea that even if the North Koreans dont use a missile, they have weapons that they could sell to a terrorist group for purposes of what we call an asymmetric nuclear threat. These things can be put into a container, small as a not much bigger than a refrigerator and smuggled in. So this is no small issue once youve mastered the ability to have a fusion fission weapon. In this case, thats what theyre going for. Liz Keith Ellison in minnesota compared the two leaders. Kim jongun and President Trump. Listen to who Keith Ellison think so is acting more responsibly. Listen. North korea is a serious thing. You have this guy making threats against somebody else who has very little to lose over there. Kim jongun, the world always thought he was not a responsible leader. Well, hes acting more responsible than this guy. Liz i mean, so did you hear that . I mean, north korea is this guy, he uses antiaircraft guns to take out his enemies. He kills his own family members as well; right . So what did you make of congressman ellisons comments there . Two things. Congressman ellison is completely out of his element here. Im sorry. It doesnt have anything to lose. He has everything to lose. Hes over magnitude, liz. Theres no idea he will die he will die in the First Exchange of weaponry. Is he an american . This is where i lose track of whats going on here. Again, kim jongun has used very severe violence against his own people. The number of actual armed exchanges in the dmz and around north korea and south korea has increased by 3,000 over the last eight years. Does this sound like a man of peace acting in good faith in north korea . Go ahead, im sorry. Liz correct me if im wrong. Is north korea a country . People barrel have enough to eat there. For goodness sake, they eat their animals, thats how desperate the situation is. And i cannot believe any educated man, any congressman who has taken the oath of office would somehow compare or say that a man who holds his people hostage to this to the point of where theyre starving is somehow more appropriate better human being than our president . People have to get a grip. This is going beyond politics. Hes going into insanity. Liz well, hes the second most powerful man in the dmz. Iran now threatening to quit the nuclear deal within hours basically within a day and an hour. Today they said that. Why . Tougher u. S. Sanctions. Colonel, what did you think of irans threat here. Is there a link between north korea and iran . Absolutely. The sanction issue is something that they should have expected because theyve been misbehaving in other areas outside of the joint agreed upon nuclear process. They may be living after that, but theyre breaking everything else, so theres going to be consequences. Again, theres no separation between the Trump Administrations focus of Holding North Korea accountable and iran accountable. Whats bad here is the fact that behind the scenes, the iranians outsourced their Research Development of missiles and Nuclear Weapons to the North Koreans. Its all related. So they may very well be complying with the agreement. But theyre helping theyre having the North Koreans do all the Real Research and development to have weapons issued back to them, the iranians. Liz and quickly iran ramped up its military budget. 800million. We helped fund that. Right. Money we returned helped ramp up the whole thing. Were paying for our own enemies to become more powerful. Its quite amazing. Liz colonel, good to see you. Love having you go back on. Thank you. Liz lets take a look at the dynamics all closing the day down in the red. Next up, the Trump Administration is investigating chinas theft of u. S. Intellectual property. China stealing u. S. Product ideas and copying them and counterfeiting them. President trump needs to crack down even harder on china. Thats coming up. China is warning a trade war could break out, and we also have this for you fireworks between President Trump and the press just moments ago. Were bringing in caylee, shes going to join us. Actually, it does. Type 2 diabetes can make you twice as likely to die from a cardiovascular event, like a heart attack or stroke. And with Heart Disease, your risk is even higher. So now that you know all that, what do you think . That its time to think about jardiance. Ask your doctor about jardiance. And get to the heart of what matters. Trump today im directing the United States trade representative to examine chinas policies, practices, and actions with regard to the force transfers of American Technology and the theft of American Intellectual property. We will protect forgotten americans who have been left behind by a global trade system that has failed to look, and i mean look out for their interest. Liz President Trump has ordered his top trade official to investigate possible unfair chinese trade practices, including charges that china steals u. S. Trade secrets and intellectual property. Product ideas. The move, which could leave to steeper tariffs on chinese goods comes at a time when trump has asked china to do more to crack down on north Koreas Nuclear missile program. Joining me now, he is the author of the quote collapse of china. He is gordon chang. Good to see you, gordon. Is President Trump doing this let me back up. What do you make of the president s push back on china right now . Well, its important. And china has been misbehaving across a whole range of activities. And its not just north korea. Its not just trade. Its not just South China Sea. Were seeing china do things, which are deeply troubling. And so the president has no choice but to push back. Now, the problem is that on some things, he is sort of not going as far as he should because hes worried about not having china chinas cooperation on north korea. So, for instance, for this trade stuff on intellectual property, he sort of backed off a little bit hoping to ge getbeijings corporation. And that means that theyve become bargaining chips with north korea. Liz are you saying that the president should push back even harder on china because theyll get more in the way of the north korea situation. Is that what youre saying . Absolutely. So, for instance, yesterday that clip that you played, what President Trump did was he asked the u. S. Trade representative to start an investigation to see whether there should be an investigation on chinas liz that could take a year. That could take more than a year. Hes referring to a section 301 trade movement. Trade act remedy, which is under the trade act of 1974. But, you know, you go back to what happened at the beginning of this month. President trump was going to announce the 301 on friday, february 4th. He didnt do it because on the previous day, un and state Department Officials went to the white house and said please hold off because we need chinas cooperation on a security counsel resolution, which was ultimately adopted two days later. Yesterday, President Trump didnt go forward on the section 301. All he did was he asked the trade representative to see if we should have a 301. And so what were doing is were being very tepid right now and tentative, even though each year china steals somewhere between 250 to 635 billion of u. S. Intellectual property. Liz the entire trade deficit; right . You know, the Senate Minority leader schumer the president has democrat support for what hes doing in cracking down on china. Chuck schumer agrees for taking a tougher stand on china. Recently said quote listen to this. I was closer to trade views with donald trump than i was either george bush or barack obama. On china, anyway. I think we were much too easy on them. But if you got tough on them now, maybe they would relent, but we have to be real tough. Do you agree . Oh, absolutely. You know, we have tried over the course of decades to obtain chinas cooperation on all sorts of things. By sort of giving them concessions first and hoping that they would reciprocate. Well, that approach has failed, whether we look at South China Sea trade, north korea. What we need to do is put the chinese in a box basically to make the pressure so high, they have no choice but to cooperate. And indeed, i dont know if that will work, but i do know that the opposite approach hasnt worked, so we need to try something new. I actually believe that china will cooperate when they realize that President Trump has put so much pressure on them. So i think thats the way to go. I think schumers absolutely right. Liz good morning, good to see you. Thank you. Liz and, by the way, them dumping their treasuries, they would just hurt themselves; right . Theyre selling liz they would hurt their own positions. And theyre selling treasuries anyway because they have to support, which is now fragile. Liz good point. Good to see you, gordon. Come back soon. Love having you go on. Did you hear this the big Health Insurer aetna and apple to sell apple watches at a discount to aetnas 23 million customers. Heres the thinking out there. The fear is that aetna wants access to your health data via that apple watch. Heres an important point. Apples own policy state that you, the customer has to say yes to that. But aetna could say youre not going to get the discounted watch if youre not going to participate in this program. Aetna and apple both ending the day in the green. Theyre pointing up. Well, he has been called the most hated sheriff in the country for his hard line on crime. Now President Trump sparking another firestorm of controversy. People dont like this. The president made pardon joe, the sheriff is defying an arizona judges order to stop illegal immigrant traffic patrols. Were going to bring you the latest. And president hitting back at reporters moments ago. Were going to have more on that. We have rnc spokesman caylee, shes going to weigh in next its a highly contagious disease that can be really serious. Especially for my precious new grandchild. Its whooping cough. Every family member, including those around new babies, should talk to their doctor or pharmacist about getting vaccinated. Trump i wanted to make sure unlike most politicians that what i said was correct. Not make a quick statement. The statement i made on saturday, the first statement was a fine statement. But you dont make statements that direct unless you know the fact. It takes a little while to get the facts. You still dont know the facts, and its a very, very important process to me, and its a very important statement. Liz President Trump defending his comments on the violent acts in charlottesville. Those comments came on saturday. Hes defending them to the press at a contentious press conference moments ago at trump tower. Lots of fireworks there. Lets bring in the spokesperson for the Republican National committee caylee. The president is basically saying, you know, hes defending his statement many, many sides. When he said hatred and bigotry and many, many sides. That came on saturday. Why didnt the president just come out on saturday and name white supremacist in that statement . Look, i think as the president said, he was waiting on all the facts, you know . Why didnt president obama come out liz sorry. Go ahead. Finish your thought. Yeah. I was just going to say why didnt president obama come out in the direct aftermath his first statement after the horrific Charleston Shooting and name White Supremacy . He was being measured, which is the president just denounced hatred. Liz forgive me i didnt mean to interrupt. The president , though, knew that White Supremacists were coming into charlottesville. They were there the night before that torch lit ceremony. You know, it seems that he stephen colbert, for example, i know the viewers going to hate me for quoting stephen colbert. But made a point that the president names names. He names cnn, names hillary clinton, names nordstrom. Why not just say white supremacist right out of the box . He said im uncategorically condemning White Supremacy. And then when he got the scrutiny over the weekend, he came back monday and doubled down on that and said also i want to name specifically White Supremacy and the kk. I also think, liz, its important to remember context here. The president has condemned White Supremacy many, many times. Last year, february 26th, february 9th, november 22nd. I could go on and on. So he felt that he already condemned that and bigotry would suffice. But he doubled down on that on monday. Its a fair point hes making. Liz President Trump also making comments about steve bannon. Lets take a listen. Mr. Bannon came on very late. You know that. I went through 17 senators, governors, and i won all the primaries. Mr. Bannon came on very much later than that, and i like him, hes a good man, he is not a racist. I can tell you that. Hes a good person. He actually gets a very unfair press in that regard. But wheals what happens with mr. Bannon. Liz theres been a push, apparently, to get steve bannon out. Whats your reaction . Look, i think he was there defending someone who has been his long time adviser. You know, mr. Bannon has been demonized, much like the president has. And then he said well wait and see his future. But i think it was good of him to defend mr. Bannon, you know . The media has a way of just demonizing anyone on the right and certainly the president and mr. Bannon have gotten the brunt of that. Liz heres the president firing back at the press. Roll tape. If the press were not fake, and if it was honest, the press would have said what i said was very nice. But unlike you and unlike excuse me. Unlike you and unlike the media, before i make a statement, i like to know the facts. That was a horrible, horrible day wait a minute. Im not finished. Im not finished, fake news. That was a horrible day i watch those very closely. Much more closely than you people watched it. And you have you had a group on one side that was bad, and you had a group on the other side that was also very violent. Liz you know, it is political for the president white supremacist; right . Theres political, you know, identity politics on the left and on the right. And the American People, they dont like the temple of violence. You see it in the polls. This is President Trumps third rail. White supremacist. And in the future, youre going to have more possible protests like this. Would you advise the president to come right out of the box and say White Supremacists, get out. We dont want you anywhere near us . Yeah. Most definitely. I would advise them to say exactly what he did on monday, which is naming those names, we dont stand for this. Our care woman has said this is not something thats welcome in the republican party, and the president will. He has done that, he will do that going forward. And i think he was just pointing out the fact that alveda king said lets denounce violence all together as well. She just said that on fox news about an hour ago. Lets denounce violence categorically and also denounce by name these White Supremacists. Liz we see it in the polls. The American People are sick of the gridlock in dc. They dont even like the gotcha politics you see all over the media. The dc new york beltway. They dont like it. And the irony, caylee, the president was talking about infrastructure and jobs. Theres gridlock, literally in the country with infrastructure; right . We havent had a new airport since 1995. The president saying jobs smooth out Race Relations and, in fact, he got more of the minority votes than romney. Go ahead, caylee. Yeah. Youre exactly right. And that is one of the frustrations, liz. We see of him take out that massive flow chart and say heres what it takes to get a highway done now and then pull out that smaller one. Heres what its going to take to get the highway with me. But the press didnt want to ask about infrastructure. The press went to talk about the sensational. They always default to russia or demonizing the president. Infrastructure and the economy economy and what makes their lives better. Liz you know, we had a striking moment. Jp morgan chase ceo on the last Conference Call about earnings with wall street totally frustrated saying hes sick of this stupid s blank. It was a fourletter word. Saying were the most bureaucratic latigoes society in the world. Saying we cant get anything done. Yeah, exactly right. He mentioned litigious, i think Something Like 860 regulations to make it easier on Business Owners. You know, thats the key to growth in this economy. We already have a economy thats coming back, but you start cutting regulation and let these Business Owners do what they want to do, small Business Owners, were going to see an economy thats roaring. Liz good to see you. Thank you so much for joining us. We love having you go on. Come back soon. Thanks. Liz and remember, you can see the entire back and forth between the president and the press tonight at 6 00 p. M. On making money. Were going to be it in its entirety right here on fox business. Well, the polls closing soon for the special election in alabama for former senator and now attorney general Jeff Sessions. Were going to give you the latest on that race, gerri willis is coming up. Gerri willis has the latest. Thats right. All eyes on alabama today for Jeff Sessions senate seat, which he vacated when he took the nations top Law Enforcement post. And while no republican has lost the race in alabama since 1992, Luther Strange, the republican incumbent is struggling. What he has on his side, though, is a lot. President donald trump tweeting this earlier today. Big day in alabama. Vote for Luther Strange. He will be great. Strange has support Mitch Mcconnell whose easily help put together the multimilliondollar campaign. The former governor who appointed strange six months ago runs deep. Mcconnell is seen as a establishment republican incapable of putting Health Care Bill through the senate while bently left his office after a sex scandal. Rivals taking advantage of these weaknesses. Congressman is urging voters to send a huge message to the u. S. Senate establishment by defeating mcconnells hand chosen pick. And brooks has gone as far as Connell Mcconnell the swamp king. Today, the Strange Campaign says the president had recorded calls urging alabama Republican Voters to get to the polls and cast a ballot for strange. The calls went out to 150,000 gop households. Trump, however, says his administration is accomplishing many of his goals. But quote, i need luther to help us out. Political watchers expect a september run off for the republicans with polls showing exjudge ray moore consistently leading as stranger and brooks are battling for a runnerup position. The polls close tonight at 8 00 p. M. Liz. Liz thank you so much, gerri. Good to see you. Good to see you. Liz reporting for Luther Strange multiple times over the last few days issuing a rob owe call that was sent to over 150 households. Lets bring back the political power panel madison. Madison, President Trump endorsing Luther Strange. Hes not a shooin, though. What does that say . You know, i think its very definitely important that he theyve had endorsement from the president , considering how popular President Trump is in alabama. I think he holds a consistent 85 to 90 approval generating in the state. Of course, which was only even brought down i think to that 85 because of that short rift that he had with attorney general sessions who for really held this seat. So i think its very important that he endorse him. I think it will definitely go a long way. I dont know for sure if it will seal the deal or if he could win this election. But i definitely think it improves his chances. Liz you know, how come the democrats cant muster up a candidate to win these special elections or any you know, heres whats going on. Its been 20 years since alabama last had a democratic senator. Trump won the state by positive points. It has been since 1992, that was the last time the state had a democrat senator. Back when president bill clinton, he was a candidate saying i inhale. It is back then, liz. You know, i think youre referring to how judge was a senator from alabama back then. But, look, its tough. I mean, the south is tough territory for the democrats. Weve done somewhat better, occasionally with governors. We do win sometimes in some of the states. Florida, virginia. But its a tough territory for us. But these things go in cycles. You know, 40 years ago, the democrats held all of these seats, and these go back and forth, so its a matter of time. But right now, this is not a place where i would be optimistic about picking up a senate seat. Liz i hear what youre saying. Madison, theres a leadership vacuum in the Democrat Party right now. Al has talked about that too, madison. We have Keith Ellison second in command at the dnc equating President Trump with the north korea leader kim jongun saying kim jongun is acting more responsibly here. What is going on with the Democrat Party . Well, i think thats an ignorant and disrespectful comment. But when we look at the Democratic Party specifically, i think there is a power vacuum, and its very hard because we know a lot of people who are great democrats out there who are looking for a strong message, and thats exactly what trump provided to republicans in the election and democrats just dont seem to have someone that can do that. Hillary clinton didnt do that for them and in their waiting, theyre waiting for someone to step up to the plate and, you know, put forward, you know, ideas and a message thats going to resonate and thats going to, you know, address the problems that theyre concerned about. Going back, you know, to alabama, specifically when these people are strong supporters, they want to see the president s agenda get passed in congress, and i think that will go a long way too when we look forward to the election, i think a republican will win this one again. Liz allen, madison, sorry, allen. I know you want to get in there. Next time, though. Great to see you guys. Thank you for coming on the show. A new ad out defending President Trump against the media. Democrats and anyone obstructing his pro growth plan. Thats coming up. James ill tell you, i might be a chevy guy now. laughing liz a new ad accusing democrats of the media of obstructing the president s agenda. With me now day akyle, shes wife of american sniper chris kyle and fox news contributor. Good to see you, taya. Hi, liz. Liz who do you think is hindering the president s agenda . Yeah. I think its both. Unfortunately, i think that mr. Mcconnell is trying to use them as excuses; right . Hes saying its hard to do the job. You dont understand, there are people obstructing. And i feel like i understand that. But i also look at it from a point of view if im given a job i dont care who the employer is if i say im sorry. Im trying. Its hard. I dont keep my job. I either get fired, or i quick because i dont get the job. So i think they need to keep that in mind because democrats are able to get their goals accomplished, and these republicans promised on the campaign trail that they would do certain things. And if theyre not delivering, nobody wants excuses. So i think he needs to step it up and find a way around it. There are smart people that get paid a generous salary with great benefits, softball the job. Do what you promised. Liz you know, taya, weve been reporting all day how executives are leaving the president S Manufacturing counsel, which is about getting more jobs in this country, and we have breaking news. Richard of the union leader aflcio, he has now quit the president S Manufacturing counsel. What do you think of these what do you make of the story of the ceos leaving the president S Manufacturing counsel . You know, i think its they have a right to leave, but im cautious to look at things and say why are they really leaving . It seems like nowadays things are just a chess game, and theyre smoke in mirrors, and i feel like the real work is done when you roll up your sleeves and have conversations. You try to make change. But lately, it just seems people want to take a stand, a protest. You know, to make a point. Make a statement. Thats different than rolling up your sleeves. I dont i wish they would roll up their sleeves and do it, and i think they also should not have these big blanket statements instead of using specific facts. And specific instances that they saw that they were so disturbed with that they had to step down. Liz day a,its good to see you. We love having you go on the show. Come back soon. Okay. Thanks. Liz were going to have more after the break. Dont go away copd makes it hard to breathe. So to breathe better, i go with anoro. Go your own way copd tries to say, go this way.
