His tax reform, Health Coverage reform, new infrastructure bill, even the border wall now on hold, it appears, as the president s firing of fbi director james comey has cranked up the russia trump collusion scandal factory now in overdrive. But here are the facts. There are ten fbi congressional investigations already into russia. 7. 5 senate, three at the fbi. The fbi even set up its own unit at that probe. Also the Trump Administration has been pushing back on russia. No listing sanctions there. Russian ally is another example after dictator Bashar Alassad used chemical weapons on his own people and secretary of state tillerson have both publicly called out russia in overseas remarks. And according to un ambassador nikki haley, trump is also now considering new sanctions against russia. Also this. The Trump Treasury Department rejected a demand from exxonmobil to get a waiver on russia sanctions so it could drill in russias black sea. Now, that was not enough, the former fbi director weighing in today in a letter saying to his staff quote i have long believed that a president can fire an fbi director for any reason or for no reason at all. Im not going to spend time on the decision or the way it was executed. I hope you wont either. It is done, and i will be fine. And now this the acting fbi director andrew mcabe, he testified Senate Intelligence today that the Trump Administration is not obstructing or impeding the fbi investigation into russia. The dismissal mr. Comey in any way impeded, interrupted, stopped, or negatively impacted any of the work, any investigation, or any on going projects at the federal bureau of investigation . There are has been no effort to impede our investigation to date. Simply put, sir, you cannot stop the men and women from doing the right there. Liz lets take this to fbi Task Force Member steve. Good to see you, steve. Likewise. Im sorry go ahead. Liz are you seeing any changes in u. S. Policy on russia . No, you opened up with facts. And there are two major facts that we must not ignore. Fact number one, and you brought this to the attention in your opening. There was no evidence at all that there was collusion between the Trump Administration and the russians. Number two. Fact number two. Very important regarding james comey. On the day he testified before the congressional hearing regarding Hillary Clintons emails, he lost the confidence of every Law Enforcement officer that i have talked to in this country, a lot of fbi agents, why . Because he made the decision that she should not be charged or prosecuted. President trump did the right thing. And hes absolutely right that Law Enforcement lost their confidence in the fbi directo d. Liz yeah, and James Clapper said theres no evidence of collusion. The media is still saying this, trump fired chromey after comey asked for more money and resources. But acting director Andrew Mccabe said thats not so. That they may need more resources. Listen. When we need resources, we make those requests here. So i dont im not aware of that request, and its not consistent with my understanding of how we requested additional resources. I strongly believe that the russia investigation is adequately resourced. Liz so what do you think, steve . Is the media narrative on this right or wrong . I think the media narrative is dead wrong. Its the he said she said. And what the media is doing, theyre running with just about every single piece of insignificant information and making it into a new story. Fact is the president of the United States did the right thing, theres no evidence of collusion and why would the president of the United States try to mislead us . Look, i know the media would laugh at what i just said. But the fact is i know him as an honorable individual, hes doing the best he could to govern this country and the democrats and the congress are severely dividing this nation, and that has to stop. Liz steve, the fbi acting director also admitting in testimony today that fbi agents were upset at james comey because he did not recommend prosecution of Hillary Clinton. Lets take a listen. Im just saying basically before july 5th, before the first testimony that basically director comey got involved in prior to that, did you see a change in the morale . Just yes or no a change or more anxious, more concerned. I think morale has always been good. However, there were folks within our agency who were frustrated with the outcome of the case and some of those folks were very vocal about those concerns. Liz all right. So of course the fbi director is in a position to recommend anything. Hes just supposed to present evidence. But does Andrew Mccabes testimony support the evidence for the reasoning of the firing of james comey . It certainly does. I can tell you that Law Enforcement officers across the country from municipal officers to the fbi, their morale was hurt, their confidence were shaken. Look, cops. Street cops, they look up to the fbi. The fbi is still the greatest Law Enforcement agency in the world but james comey took that Law Enforcement profession and turned it into a political entity and the president fired him because of that. Liz see, the president sat down with nbc news lester holt saying that he decided to fire james comey before he got the recommendation. That the president , he says he was the one who made the call. Lets watch. Monday you met with the Deputy Attorney general rob rosenstein. Trump right . Did you ask for a recommendation . Trump what i did was i was going to fire comey. You made the decision before. Trump i was going to fire comey. Theres no good time to do it, by the way. Accepted their recommendation. Trump yeah, well you already made the decision. Trump i was going to fire regardless of the recommendation. Liz so the white house being criticized for this today. Some people are equating it to how the white house rolled out the temporary travel ban. That was a rocky roll out. Deputy press secretary Sarah Huckabee sanders had a presser today. She denied that what the president saying to lester holt critics previous explanation from the white house. I mean, this sounds kind of conflicting here. Do you agree . Well, heres what i believe happened. The same narrative regarding general flynn. There was a question as to why the president did not fire general flynn earlier than what he did. The fact of the matter is that the president in my view, based on what im seeing, he tried to get a totality of information before he makes a move. I believe that his desire was to fire general flynn sooner. He didnt until he got the information he needed. The same goes with james comey. I believe the president. I believe he wanted to remove him from office earlier, but he wanted more of a Solid Foundation to stand on. He got it, and he removed him. Liz you know, the president also telling nebraska news that he asked james comey if he himself, the president was being investigated. The president says on multiple occasions james comey told him no. Did you call him . Trump in one case, i called him, and one case, he called me. And did you ask am i under investigation . Trump i actually asked him, yes. I said if its possible, will you let me know if im under investigation. He said you are not under investigation. Liz all right. Thats being questioned as breach of protocol. The president should not be asking the fbi if hes being investigated and the fbi director shouldnt be having this conversation with the president. But, asteve, lets back up here. Senator really frustrated today. He said stop, dc. Stop with the leaks. Stop saying comey never talked to trump. Theres that media leak thats going on thats critique the president. And, please, fbi tell us once and foreall is the president being investigated . Because its doing what russia wants. Undermining democracy. What are your that its . Look, i can picture these two guys. The president and the fbi director having a dinner casual conversation, and i would think any human being would lean over. Youre right. Maybe not a proper protocol. There could have been a friendly conversation. So i do think the president with regard to that conversation. And, again, we get back to russia. If there is an investigation, i could see to a degree why the fbi or they dont want to compromise it. But tell it like it is and lets move on and give the president the chance to govern this country. Liz and, steve, to your point, the Obama Administration made it possible to spread intelligence about the trump, you know, team to 17 intelligence agencies. Now, if there was russia collusion given the leaks in washington, d. C. Wouldnt we have heard it by now . Yes. We would have. And what was the motivate of the Obama Administration to do whats happening right now. I really believe theyre trying to bring this president down. Its not going to happen. He has support. She was appeared there on one hand saying the president should not have fired james comey. But then on the other hand saying if Hillary Clinton had won the presidency, hillary should have fired comey. Now, see if you can follow this flipflop. Ambassador in this position. The bottom line is i think if the president if the president had fired him when he first came in, he would not have to be in a position now where hes trying to make up a story. If Hillary Clinton had won the white house, would you have recommended that she fire fbi director james comey . I believe that given what he did to her she should have fired him, yes. Not only Maxine Waters but all of these democrats that are flipflopping are doing it for one reason and thats their own political agenda to be advanced. Theyre not interested in this country. Yes. Its a distraction. The president has made a lot of progress with the economy. Theres jobs coming back. Look what hes doing in building the military. Police officers across this country are proud, and theyre honored now to work look what the ice agents are doing. I just read this more than 1,300 gang members, a lot of them Illegal Immigrants were arrested. So theres a lot of good that hes doing, but its all being overshadowed by this distraction. No. No. Quite relevant to what happened yesterday but all of them awful. And thats the point. More than anything, though, could you the ominous music here, a constitutional crisis. And i watch this unfold tuesday night and then wrote about it for foxnews. Com. I described it asthmas hysteria among the media. I watched one reporter analyst became apoplectic claiming trumps lying. Its a coverup. The fbi was closing in on trump as if a s. W. A. T. Team is outsides the gates of the white house with a battering ram. I wonder if any of these journalists actually read the deputy abs report, which gave plenty of justification for the firing of james comey. He was acting repeatedly without authorization and breaking all the rules of the department of justice and the fbi. And Chuck Schumer is like heroin to the media addicts because hes there every time trump does something, its a saturday night massacre. You fire sally yates. That was a monday or tuesday night massacre. The 46 u. S. Attorneys are, like, thats another massacre and then tuesday night, this is a saturday night massacre. Liz hyperventilated extreme rhetoric. But what we were saying at the top, the media acts like their thoughts and opinions are facts. But isnt this a problem, gregg, that places like msnbc where everyone agrees theres no difference of opinion, that raches up the emotional incontinence and blinds people to the facts. Oh, it absolutely does. And the fact is that the media has such unabast scorn and visceral hatred of President Trump that it obliterates any fair analysis, any fair reporting. And you see it over and over again. You mention msnbc. Now chris hayes who appears on msnbc has a commercial in front of a water heat building talking about how watergate was exposed because reporters asked tough questions, im going to ask the tough questions. You know, now we have a visual comparison to the saturday night massacre in watergate. Its way over the top. Liz yeah, theres a lot of vanity and self regard there. Of course. Liz lets go to stephen colbert, he was pro flexed when his audience cheered the news that trump fired comey. Watch. Fbi director james comey has just been fired by donald trump. [cheers and applause] wow. Huge, huge donald trump fans here tonight. [laughter] that shows no gratitude at all. Liz all right. Colbert tried to get out of that one. But that seemed like the audience wanted him fired because of what happened with hillary. Yeah. And once colbert realized oh, gee, he really should be cheering, the hypocrisy in washington, among democrats in particular because it was just months ago that they denounced comey and said he shoulde fired. Well, nohe gets fired and now theyre outraged . And it also shows a lot of americans, that audience in particular, they dont really know whats going on. Maybe they see a few headlines. Theyre not well read. They dont know the issues. And these are people who vote. Liz maybe they agree he should have been fired. Well, they were probably more right than colbert. Liz all right. Health Insurer Company aetna announced it is completely pulling out of the Obamacare Exchanges by 2018. Stranding people nationwide. People are losing their doctors, too. Doctors are pulling out as well. Now aetna was upgraded by Cleveland Research from neutral to buy today after the news. The stock is moving higher, closing up for the day. Preexisting conditions continue to be covered under the Republican Health bill. In fact that part of it is the same, which is that youre going to end up having to see it reflected in premiums, so the biggest worry is premiums say high but preexisting conditions remain covered. Only in a state which asks for a waiver, liz, for people who let their insurance lapse. I dont know why they would do that, but if insurance lapses, they could be put in a highrisk pool. Liz they would pay for more insurance. 138 billion is what the republicans are talking about, the pool for preexisting conditions, and states, according to karl rove, states can not get a waiver to not cover preexisting conditions. Absolutely. Hes 100 right, and cover it with a highrisk pool if you got the waiver. This is a myth. Liz journalism malpractice by msnbc and cnn when they dont have the journalists asking the questions and reading the bill. The democrats are attacking the bill without reading it and so are the journalists. Ive tried to read through what theyre doing and trying to stay on top of it. Have you news about aetna and how much aetna has pulled out of the Obamacare Exchanges. Thats a point that really echoes the point President Trump has been making which is that obamacare is going bellyup anyway already. United healthcare went from 34 exchanges they were involved in down to 3. Okay . That preexists trumps presidency. Aetna went from 15 down to 2. Delaware and nebraska. Now zero. The news isnt the way its sold by the democrats or some of the other Media Outlets that somehow instability in the markets because they dont know what the government is doing is pushing aetna out. Excuse me, aetna went from 15 states to 2 before trump was elected. Liz jonathan gruber, were too stupid to understand obamacare, he says its trumps fault. Preexists trump. Liz pulling out in 2014. Let me tell you why. Heres the fault. Aetna analyzed it in 2016 and found 55 of the people that had signed up were new that year on the exchanges, and guess what . They were sick and they had highrisk conditions. You know why . Because young people, young people, 45 of the people who took the tax penalty were under the age of 35. Meaning the whole idea behind obamacare, the saps, were going to be the 27yearolds who paid for the older people who didnt sign up. Aetna said you only allowed a profit margin of 20 but only gave us sick liz the issue is obamacare built the mini monopolies and the states could ratchet up the costs because they were sick people. The republicans are trying to get rid of that. The question is will the republicans cut medicaid . Are they hurting people that way . Two things i want to say about the bill. Number one is Medicaid Expansion will stay. I do not believe the cuts to medicaid will say. In i think the senate is more moderate and i think theres 20 republican senators in the 32 states up for reelection. Theyre popular in 32 states, i say the Medicaid Expansion will stay in. Thats one thing. The other thing i want to point out is the biggest thing the bill does on the Positive Side is gets rid of mandates that force to you buy something that doesnt give you whats advertised. Liz like what . Come to dr. Siegels office, siegel says i take obamacare, sir, guess what . The orthopedist doesnt, the obgyn doesnt, i cant get you to the radiologist i want, the Cancer Center doesnt take tomorrow. Narrow networks of doctors, high deductibles so you cant get the care you need. Its indecent and unethical to Say Something should be mandated that doesnt give you the care thats promised. One more thing, the government has safeties in the. The idea that people are on the streets. The government has National Health Service Corps and 22 Million People are covered under federally subsidized clinics in the United States. Thats the safety net. But what i would say also is, you know, were americans first, and we have got to stop allowing these professors and universities and politicians to divvy us up based on race, to separate us and divide us based on race and start looking at each other and loving each other and expressing our political views whether we agree or disagree in a loving manner, in a manner that does not, you know, thats not derogatory towards someone who is our fellow american. At the end of the day, it doesnt matter what her skin color is. It doesnt matter that you didnt agree with the president that she represents in our nation, shes a fellow american, and she should have been respected. We have one protester saying this. Lets take a listen. The choice that was made for her to speak, i think, it was the wrong choice. Betsy devos, her values, beliefs are not in line with the general public. Liz what are your thoughts there . My thoughts are, what general public . Thats what im saying. The nation has been divided up on black and white, hispanic, andation and arab when we should have been looking at each other as americans, and i believe the black graduating students, the hbcus, whatever university, the blacks and latinos are, we have a president in office that has extended the hand of friendship to people of color, whether you are in the inner cities or in the universities. And i think that it would be a travesty if we dont take up the offer to sit down at the table with our president , donald j. Trump. With our education secretary, betsy devos, and sit down and eat at the table. Not just for ourselves, our community, but as well for as americans. Should the school be apologizing, brunell . I dont think the school should apologize. There is nothing wrong with loving your country, and there is nothing wrong with respecting the office of our presidency, and Donald Trumps words to make America Great again, make america safe again, make america strong again, should be the heart cry and the battle cry of every american. It doesnt matter whether you are black or white, straight or gay, tall or short, it should be the battle cry and the heart cry of us all. We are all americans, and we have got to stop attacking each other. You know, being derogatory. Destroying each others morale. We have got reach across the aisle some kind of way, our president and his administration has to reach across the aisle, across language barriers as well as color barriers as well as filiag this nation together. And it starts with just respecting that were all americans, that we are patriots and we live in the greatest country in the world, the United States of america. He was a talker and now we have a person walking the walk in the white house. Hes not a politician. Hes not all smooth around the edges. But when he speaks, he speaks from his heart. And i would rather have someone in office who speaks from his heart and who will do what he says hes going to do than a smooth talker whose heartless and let the nation down, im proud of my president donald j.
