I think he is a nice man but what he has to realize his, his ideas are great ideas but it will destroy america by number one, not letting americans have the American Dream. I think they are attracted to these ideas they dont have enough sense of self, frankly. Social media emptied people out of their own intentions. They have become their facebook profiles. They count how many tweets and likes they send out or get. And, that doesnt substitute for achievement. I see a lot of people in my practice who are lost, who dont have a sense forward momentum. Bernie sanders appeals to those people because he says it has nothing to do with you. You dont have to do any soulsearching. You dont have to find your godgiven gifts. You stand in line for free stuff. Because there is a big conspiracy against you from the billionaires. So he plays to peoples sense of paranoia. And he frees them from any desire to actuallyize themselves. Thats very, very toxic. Deirdre im just curious, doctor. With the people in your patients referring mostly to millenials. How much is coming from low job prospects . By that they either got a fouryear degree but still can only find hourly work at starbucks or Something Like that . Or they just feel like Corporate America isnt for them . That is absolutely true and jobs with real futures prays upon young people. There are other forces too. I think technology is a among the forces that leads them to feel not very powerful. Only as powerful as the pixels they can send out or receive. I do think the fact there are only hourly jobs and parttime jobs is part of it not all of it. Drug use is part of it. When people dont feel empowered they dont want to feel anxious or depressed. They use drugs in order to lull themselves into false sense of serenity. Bernie sanders is psychological public enemy number one, because ultimately he wants feel powerful, but the way he wants to do it to suggest to others that they need parenting, perpetual parenting from the state because theyre not effective as human beings and individuals. That is tremendously toxic. I know your last guest says Bernie Sanders is nice guy. He is not a nice guy. He is a very dangerous guy. You good to see you, deirdre. Deirdre how do you see as a legal expert the Supreme Courts halt . The Supreme Court rarely does something where can you say always or never. This is a never. The Supreme Court has never before reached down to a case that isnt even before the court, its in a court below the Supreme Court and ordered that court to stop the government from enforcing a rule deirdre first time in history . Correct. The epa is presumed to be filled with experts on the economy, understand the law, the economy, the environment, who understand the law, and will know what the environment needs. Their job is to interpret the law, interpret the facts and come up with reasonable regulations. When they do this, the courts presume the regulations are valid and lawful. When the Supreme Court stops the regulation before its enforced, it turns that presumption on its head. Basically saying were presuming its invalid and unlawful. Deirdre dont think about it . Correct. Normally when you challenge an epa rule or fda rule or any of the administrative agencies, the rule stays in place during the tendency of challenge, it can take three or four years for the challenge to come to fruition, the epa wins or loses. Its rare to do. This heres why, when the epa regulates, they have two ways, they say you have to reduce the number of carbon parts per billion and say to the state, you have to monitor the power plant. Where do the states get the money with which to monitor the power plant . From the power plant. Where does the power plant get the money from . From the consumers. The last time the Supreme Court validated a rumor they extracted the money from the people they were regulating, 10 billion dollars only to enforce a rule the Supreme Court said was invalid and unconstitutional. They want to make sure that doesnt happen again. Deirdre great reason because thats pretty scandalous.
