The market is expecting a lot of things to happen on the political front and the question whether or not they are going to happen, one that will be more important this year. I also in second half of the year, lets see what people start saying about next year. I think that there is some concern that valuations are at pretty high level and you have to see continued growth or changes on the other economic fronts. Mike i agree on the growth front. I would disagree on the political front. I think where we are right now, the market is supported at these levels by the Earnings Growth we have seen. If you get something out of washington it would actually be a next leg higher in the market. I dont really see it being priced in here. The number cant support it. When you see a company like disney that misses on numbers, the market is going to punish that stock and thats what youre seeing this morning. We have also seen interesting report that talked about a lot about how companies not react to go positives and little bit of push, to maybe thats that, i also think that people started building numbers in 18 on tax reform that need to come out. We will see how it goes. Dagen if you think the market is overvalued or a lot of popular stocks overvalued, youre looking for something to offset risk in equity portfolio, can you really put money in treasuries at this point, if you look at the yield in 10year treasury, below 2. 3 , those are also rich and theoretically if you had both markets go the wrong way on you, thats all she wrote. Yes, you probably have more risk in treasuries if they go against you because of change in Interest Rates because rates are so low now and probably problematic on price. A lot of the stocks, averages, youve seen a lot of stocks come down in the last six months on the retail side, on energy, there have been places where there is room. Now, theres also threats there which is why stocks have gotten cheaper. There are places to lock and the defense stocks while they are expensive, if you look at some places, the same problem that everyone has had is where do you put your money where youve driven Interest Rates low not only the u. S. But international, negative rates across parts of europe, thats harder for people looking for putting money to work. Does that super charge the market in all sectors . Does that really make that kind of difference . Mike i think for sure, governor, if i could weigh on that because that gives all companies a tax break, more companies increased earnings, Balance Sheet will be better from that. You have seen in the reason the reason alltime highs, when people sell energy or retail, they are putting money in large cap techs, financials, banks, money would come off the sidelines and that would push the market high. I think it would definitely help. Youre definitely theres a lot of companies that have sales overseas. The companies that would benefit the most are primarily u. S. Based. If you can bring money back from overseas, a lot of parked over, we are still looking for Capital Spending and thats still been a subpar version of the kind of growth that we are looking for on the economic front thats absent what the government can do. If you can bring some of that money or tax perspective, thats something that tries to kickstart the economy. Maria businesses have been sitting on cash because of Regulatory Environment largely. Let me ask you about north korea, how much of a focus its for the market . Yesterday it felt like the market did react, was that what it was reacting to in your view . Moderate reaction. Even the kospi which you would think of all the places where you would maria what kind of wild card does this represent for markets . I think the market has seen so many wild cards in the last year or two that it need to see something that feels other than rhetoric for it to be more of an impact but i think youre getting out of earning season, from catalyst standpoint, youre taken off the table, august which can be a tough month any way from volume perspective is trickier to react to things because you have less trading going on and therefore you might see a bigger reaction. So far i wouldnt say that this is a huge reaction thus far. Dagen if you want safety in your portfolio, want a little bit of security, less risk, what do you buy at this point for . Because you have vast numbers of Asset Classes that look expensive, not wildly overvalued. So we would look for higher dividend stocks in places where you may have seen corrections already. But i agree with you, i think its very difficult and i think that thats part of the problem, if you look at credit, they have gotten incredibly tight and tells you how yield has been chased down. Europe is even worse, governments in some cases are almost nothing negligeable or negative. I think this is a really challenging period of time and to be putting together a portfolio if youre an Insurance Company or somebody else who is trying to work out pensions later its a big challenge in this environment. Maria did you get a sense from the rest of the year from what you heard in the secondquarter earnings reports, profits up 11 , revenue up 6 or so. What about the rest of the year, do you get a sense of their guidance . I would say it was pretty positive, what was interesting is a lot of people who had beat in the Second Quarter didnt raise second or they would rather be cautious and let themselves be in a position to be in earnings again. Absolutely. 10billiondollar investment, on top of that 10 and a half billion dollar payroll for the next years alone the, 10,000 construction jobs to build facilities, series of facilities, a campus here in the state of wisconsin and 22,000 indirected induced jobs, absolutely its worth it. They will be made in america for the very first time right here in the state of wisconsin and we think its transformational which is why we are calling this region wiscon valley because it will help not only foxconf but help put wisconsin in the map around the world. Maria lawmakers proposing 50 amendments on the bill. Some people are saying, look, sounds great to have up to 13,000 jobs potentially but we dont know that thats going to be the number and you also had to pay up pretty big. Do you agree that taxpayers are not going to break even on this until 2042 . Thats why, thats a good message for anybody listening. Whether its 13 jobs or 13,000 jobs in wisconsin, years ago we eliminated all but a fraction of the state tax on manufacturing as well as agriculture, two biggest industries, if youre a business thinking about moving to wisconsin right now, you should know whether its 13, 130, 13,000 jobs, youre one of the best places in the world to be at here in the state of wisconsin because we value manufacturing, thats why it takes a little bit longer than a typical job up there typical project out there. I should add, though, for any packer fans in wisconsin and across really around the globe, they know that one of the biggest turn arounds for the packers back in early 90s was signing reggie white, all pro for philadelphia eagles, he wasnt just the biggest packer deal, but one of the top three deals of all time at least back then in the nfl and it was worth it because reggie white wasnt just a player, he helped transform the team into the Super Bowl Winning Team they were a few years after he came. We believe the same thing is true, parallel here in the state of wisconsin. Its not just the 13,000 jobs, its not just the 10 and a half billion dollar payroll plus 10 billiondollar capital investment, its the transformational in fact, itll have here in the state of wisconsin. Maria yeah, i think thats a really important point that you make, can you give us a sense of what you think might be the indirect opportunities as a result of this foxconn facility or facilities in wisconsin because when you just look at the numbers and you see, okay, theyre going to build this 10 billiondollar facility but look what youve got to give them, 3 billion in incentives, make the case that there are perhaps jobs or opportunities we are not seeing that are indirect like the analogy you just raised . Just on the payroll alone for the next 15 years which is what we do the payoff of 3 billion of incentives the state provides, just on the direct jobs, the 13,000 direct jobs that will come from ecosystem, a multitude of facilities, 20 million square feet, thats enough to put 11lanbo fields in. Stick with my packers consistency there, direct jobs. 10 nfl billion dollars worth of payroll versus 3 billion of incentives. On top of that, 10 billiondollars invested to capital, thats 10,000 construction jobs, people working in the state from one end to the other to help construct this over the years and we believe in the analysis you referenced, the nonpartisan legislation Fiscal Bureau acknowledged the analysis of about 22,000 indirect and induced jobs. All the other entities, all the other suppliers, supply chain issues, we have seen corning glass say they are coming in, youre seeing other entities, other businesses, we think itll help us attract talent from across the country and around the world and keep more of our college and High School Graduates here in the state of wisconsin. So theres a lot of benefits when you see all the things that foxconn and ripple effects to the table. Maria youre expecting to come to america and start up and live in wisconsin just for the job opportunity. It was funny to hear the president the other day tell people in new york, look, if youre living in up state new york and you dont feel like there are Job Opportunities the taxes are too high, go to wisconsin. What about the threat that the plant is not even built, foxconn made a pledge to build in pennsylvania and that never materialized. Are you concerned that they drop the plans . Two things, we have what we call growth, they dont get penny if jobs dont materialize or if they dont make investment. So they get made as they grow, if they dont hit the 13,000 mark they dont get half of it is based on capital and half on jobs, if they dont make investments on job and if we dont make the jobs an capital investment, they dont get the full amount of the money. The other part specific to pennsylvania, a good example, pennsylvania, they backed away from it because the governor changed. They made a change in the leadership of the state in terms of who the governor was, thats a pretty compelling reason in wisconsin. We shouldnt change who the governor is for the next several years. Maria is it providing 3 billiondollar in cashes or what kind of incentives were so important . I realize that there was a lot of competition for foxconn, it was obviously they are playing states against one another. They are. Multitude of states, all sorts of states have been talked, michigan, ohio, illinois, texas, even others out there. They wanted to be in america because of the president s leadership on this and because they we wanted to secure their market here in the United States. We are just pleased that they picked wisconsin. As i understand it, there were other states, at least one that, multiple state that is probably offered a little bit more than we did although clearly we were in the same ballpark so they werent huge differences in terms of the incentives on the table, but we are offered was a great workforce, access to water, near the great lakes, a combination of changes over the last few years in terms of taxes, regulation, litigation, all the things that should be attractive to your viewers, not just if theyre bringing 13,000 jobs but any number of jobs to the state of wisconsin right to work all those things, not one thing alone was the reason for it but they looked at investments and workforce, they looked at the fact that once the budget was currently in for wisconsin is done, we have exceeded 8 billion worth of tax relief on income tax and property taxes even on Corporate Taxes for manufacturers. So this is really an attractive place to do business and they saw that as fitting and thats why we didnt have to offer the most but we had to be in the same ballpark. Maria you tweeted out that it adds 10 and a half billion dollars in payroll in the next 15 years with construction and indirect jobs. Nobody is safe from this epidemic that threads young and old rich and poor. The best way to prevent drug addiction and overdose is to prevent people from abusing drugs and the feast first place. The patients generally dont had addictions with these medications. They are incredibly addicting. If they dont have an addictive personality they still have problems with these medications. To make sure that no patient has pain. It means a dr. Was not doing their job. Pain is subjective. It is different called it puts a tremendous burden on them. It is hitting communities that are were never hit might drug addiction in the past. Our these drugs just too strong and too addictive. We need to have back this medication. There is severe pain we need that. Not only education the consumer but education for doctors. What we did is we started thinking how do we control this. How can we change the medication to be less abuse potential. It takes longer to get relief and it doesnt have that much of a high. Support and that they dont do that as a solution because its not. The proper education of these patients. Of acupuncture. In therapy and other medications. Its really important that we focus on these methods before jumping to opioids. When you have the press conferences when you have the governors of many states complaining about this opioid addiction problem. It also falls on personal responsibility. If you go in for a sprained ankle you should not be taken in opioid. If to be weird. Unless you say it have a distaste for cancer that you need to be taking those medications. The average person doesnt know that if a dr. For sites prescribes percocet that that is an opioid medication. The blame has been spread around to everybody except the person taking the drug. It seems like these are so strong that once people get them the chance to become addicted to the drug is bigger than anyone out there. Or some sort of orthopedic surgery and theyre not addicted. The potential rises really when the medication is not taken appropriately. If youre having extreme pain before surgery. And that is what our job as doctors is. You need to weigh the benefits and risk when you ares prescribing anything. After the way the benefit versus the risk. I may have to give that medication. Otherwise it what kind what kind of quality of life is. There is something we can do legislation wise. One thing a person can go to you and get pain medication. And then they go to another dr. They are getting triple doses of medication. There is no National Database that said i prescribed this so that another dr. Said that you knew that. That is not the majority of the problem. I would put that about 30 of the problem. Both states i can go on the state database to see if they are dr. Shopping. I cant believe that is happening. I can we not unite and network of information. Because of states mean territorial and legislation issues we cant find out if they are out there shopping. Number one the people are getting hurt. Im not doing them a service. They are not actually in pain. Im forcing them to jump through hoops. I need to make sure theyre taking it the right way.
