Jack yeah, well, i think, maria, you know, when we really look at this thing its coming into better focus. Erdogan is moving close to dictatorship, he sees turkey in a way thats going to challenge us because he wants to spread islamism throughout the middle east and africa and as such hes moving closer into the orbit of russia and iran and also hes supporting radical islamist inside syria and those are major policy issues that President Trump will have to deal with. As you mentioned in the introduction, the problem we have is with the syrian kurds, we are arming the syrian kurds and made up our mind that tactically they make the most sense. And i understand that in terms of taking down raqqah, the capital of caliphate of isis inside syria but the problem with the syrian kurds and what i disagree with u. S. Policy is that syrian kurds militarily make sense but politically makes no sense. When youre conducting military operations, you have to ask yourself two questions, what does it take to succeed militarily and what political end state are you trying to achieve. In this case, we cant succeed militarily using the syrian kurds but the political end state is unacceptable. We are at a collusion course there and erdogan will talk to the president about that but the president has a lot to talk about with erdogan because why are you supporting the alqaeda in syria, why is your border still open to isis between the turkish and Syrian Border and why are you moving into the orbit of the russian and the iranians, so theres a lot on the table for this discussion. The president is going to try to move erdogan to support the United States army and the syrian kurds to take down raqqah and erdogan, of course, is fundamentally opposed to that, maria, because he sees that as a terrorist organization thats designed to occupy territory and eventually overthrow his government. Jack well, i think putin is beginning to somewhat being intimidated by the new administration because we have called them out for one backing a war criminal in syria and not agreeing and pulling troops out of ukraine and three for meddling in our elections and that was totally new, no president has confronted him like that. I do believe theres an opportunity, maria. While we are working with the chinese, i think this is a place where we can work with the russians because the russians do not want that peninsula destabilized. If you take new york city, for example, new york was, you know, on fire because after the recession of 08 and collapse it took until about 2012 for fifty to start resuming in the market and they were so much demand that new construction couldnt be produced quick enough and so there were all the sales happening and presale numbers, prices were running up to 1300 square miles and then on luxury side, 3. So now whats happening is a whole lot of demand thats been satisfied and now we are in equilibrium and now we have the other, no new construction, in about 12 months we will see another runup. Now here is the legality is this, the president can unclassify any information whenever he would like but he has the ability to do that, one to have few people that has the ability to do that but what makes this problematic this information was we got this information because of a joint intelligence operation we had with another country, with another Intelligence Agency so this now put it is world, our sort of allies who we depend opinion to get intelligence and receive intelligence, it puts them in a very interesting position because we all know russia is not our friend and the fact that this information is being shared with the russians would piss off other intelligence agencies who this is their crown jewel and intelligence is a crown jewel for a lot of governments including ours. 70billion a year on intelligence and because we understand it is our crown jewel, thats what makes us a super power and makes us even greater super power, thats in jeopardy with the president s clumsy action. Maria indication that he has people around him that hes leaking things of whats going on. I mean, who was in the room to know what was going on. Jon, the way you were reading the way journal was writing earlier, i thought it was telling in terms of what was revealed here. Jon right, i think what we are getting from the administration is that he didnt reveal specific sources but it sounds like he was boasting to the russians about how much intelligence, how much information he has in his fingertips and he blurted out the city where this new bit of information came from and it doesnt take a genius to figure out, well, if its this city maybe it came from these people and boy, i would hate to be that source of information in that city right now. I bet theres a lot of intelligence people out there trying to get whoever that source is out of that place. Dagen why couldnt it have been Angela Merkel or the foreign minister from germany . Again, it goes back to russia. Maria too much. Dagen if youre going to slip on a banana peel, why cant it be the leaders and officials of another nation and not russia. I think thats the narrative against him is about his connection to russia and so everything is being spun on that basis. We really dont know what the conversation was about. Its not unusual for the president to share information with our allies or other nations that we have a collective interest in in certain parts of the world. Jon impulsiveness and recklessness is the real problem here. Do we think that the president of the United States is actually sitting around boasting about the information access. Yeah, i think we do. I think that that is unrealistic view of this president. Don, a couple of points here. The point number one is this, this president ran on being the law and order candidate, right, he ran on chastising Hillary Clinton over and over for, quote, unquote leaking classified information but what we have seen from the president in the past four months is the same exact theming he criticized Hillary Clinton. If hes the law and order candidate maria not exactly the same thing. The white house is a mess. There needs to be law and order in the white house. You cannot blame the leaking on anybody but the head of the company and the head of this particular company is donald j. Clinton. I guess you would say that the Clinton White house was e pit my of order but donald trump criticized state department for leaking classified information. I think theres oversupply of used vehicle that is flooded the market and thats fairly unique. Its not something that we are seeing in all other markets. In fact, i have to say our job indicators are pointing in positive trend for the u. S. Economy as well as the global economy, so i think this is something very particular to the auto sector itself. Maria when you see consumer slowing down, auto sector slowing down, do you think that would impact economy . You were talking about malls and lack of in the Retail Sector. Its about the consumer. The consumer is more and more rapidly making purchases online. Amazon stock keeps running up because their Customer Base keeps growing and i think thats going to have an impact on our jobs because whats happening now is shopping malls are dead. I was on a panel on conference and others and they were talking about how desperate retailers are and how the retail malls are a thing of the past now. So i think that and, of course, technology what its going to do to the Automotive Industry with tesla taking people out of their cars and having themselves selfdriven and having cars be more productive. I think that reduces job. Dagen i can compare to whats happening automotive sectors to the mall. Retailers sat back and watched this happen. We have been having conversations of the malls for the last 20 years. The Large Department stores have been on the ropes since the financial crisis in 2008, the Auto Industry recognize the threat, they recognize how we drive, where thats going and how thats rapidly changing and theyre trying to do something about it.
