This is a really impassioned election right now, i think the sanders people are not going to stay home and i think hillary is urging her people to continue to go out there and vote because she wants to continue to show all of her fundraisers that shes the presumptive nominee. Maria characterize california for us. I know that obviously its left, but we have a lot of people on this program who basically say its more mixed than you would think. Characterize the voting electorate from your standpoint. Well, look, hollywood is historically very progressive, very left, i do believe theres a silent majority out here and i think we are going to see that. Like so many people i was concerned about what he said, you know, race and ethnicity is never a reason to raise the question about judicial bias. This judge was clearly somebody who took on the cartels, the felix cartels in tijuana. Born in indiana, clearly an american. For me the interesting thing is affiliations outside of the courtroom. A member of the san diego lawyer for la raza. And i think possibly thats where trump does have a leg to stand on. Its going to be interesting to see. Dagen sean, big picture as a trump supporter, do you see a problem having to discuss a judge presiding over a civil case that is not related to not directly related to trump running for the presidency . Absolutely. And i think your youre seeing people intelligent conservatives, obviously somebody like Newt Gingrich who are speaking about what mr. Trump said. When he announces in campaign talking about drug dealers and racist, i think he was inarticulate, its him framing the issues in an inarticulate. This president obviously is not going to undo things that hes in favor of. Maria how are you going to defend what you have right now . A lot of people are worried that youre going to lose the house, you could lose the senate as well in terms of the overall majority and then you dont have that opportunity at all. Are you saying that harry reid stopped legislation from getting to the president s disk . We put a lot of legislation on the president s desk, hes vetoed it all. Look, here is the point. The Republican Party has done very well under barack obama, 31 governors, Record Number of u. S. House members, 54 senators, more state legislators and control legislative bodies around the country than any time in 100 years but to completely turn the country around you have to have the office which includes the one person out of 330 million americans who can sign something into law or veto something. We need to take the white house to change the country. Maria and whats your strategy to hold on to the house and senate . We have a lot of great candidates running. We have a lot of exposure. Im optimistic and we need to twin white house to finish the job. Maria let me ask you about the regulatory overhaul and that, of course, is an alternative to doddfrank. Do you think this has a chance of moving forward . It wont become law with barack obama in the white house. I think its important to set the predicate for what we will do if we are able to get the white house and begin to change that law. It was a terrible law. You know, sold as a wall street measure. Im sure its the kind of thing that i would approve of and we would like to put on the desk of a president who would sign it. Look toward the next six or eight months for us, whats your strategy in terms of unifying this party . You cant sit here, right, and say, oh, well, i wish donald trump would focus on the economy and he really should be talking about this, you cant just say that and sit back, you have to do something if you want to win the election, right . Well, what im doing is what i just told you, we are encouraging donald trump to quit the outrageous comments and concentrate on unifying the party and talk about the issues that the American People are concerned about. This was a law in 1941 to basically keep products being made in the United States purchased by the United States. Will you follow the nfl and have the teams return the money . Were looking carefully at the contracts where baseball is involved. We dont find a lot of evidence of what they call paid patriotism . There are some contracts where the military has paid, for example, for reenlistment activities in the ball parks. Theres government money appropriated for tha but very, very minimal expenditures on the type of paid patriotism activities they were critical of. More important for us, weve spent over 10 million on welcome back veterans and just built a field at fort bragg and we are going to play a game there on the 3rd of july and leave the field as a donation to the military. If you look at the balance sheet. Baseball is a tremendous charitable supporter of the military. Maria yeah, for sure. The collective Bargaining Agreement is about to expire. Where are you on this . It could have a major impact on amateur draft. Were hard at it, were meeting with the union, members of my staff meeting in chicago, with the union.
