To the april jobs report, just over two hours from now, two hours and 29 minutes to be exact, looking for 202,000 jobs created, the Unemployment Rate is expected to hold steady at 5 . Ahead of that report checking in asia overnight, weakness across the board with the cosby and south korea closed but a 3 loss on the shanghai. Europe following asia lower, losses across the board near 1 in france, looking at futures in the United States. Markets going for a lower open, breaking a two day losing streak with a 9 point gain yesterday, and here with me this morning, three hours, fired up these people are. Mike murphy and jack otter. Are you ready for this . So much to talk about. Kentucky derby and politics too. Turning back to politics, republicans going in, Party Leaders calling for party unity look brushing to enforce the presumptive nominee ahead of the july convention. There is one notable holdout, paul ryan when asked if he would support trump in the general election said this. I am not ready to do that. I am not there right now. I hope to do though. I want to. What is required is we unify the party. The burden on unifying the party will come from our presumptive nominee. Dagen trump responded to paul ryan saying, quote, im not ready to support paul ryans agenda. Perhaps in the future we can Work Together and come to an agreement about what is best for the American People, they have been treated so badly for so long it is about time for politicians to put them first. Joining me now is democratic strategist and government gone wild author kristin they. Good to see you both. These fine people will jump in as well. Is it surprising that paul ryan would make this statement . Seems he is giving voice to people within the house, republicans in congress who have reticence about trump. I dont think trump is the problem with the gop, people like paul ryan are the problem. He better get behind trump because otherwise he has to step aside, the trump train is moving forward. Paul ryan gave obama everything he wanted, there has been no pushback against obama. This is why the people are fed up with the establishment and why they love trump. Trump is a creation of paul ryan and the gop establishment. They make it doesnt hurt trump. It will hurt trump if he is elected. He has a problem because he needs down ballot races. Paul ryan republicans need to stay alive, need those races that donald trump is going to fuel. They need to be unified, not just about the president but congressional seats, legislative seats, they are not doing very well, but he has to come out dagen republicans have the biggest majority since the 1920s. The setup is interesting. For mister trump. He will meet with paul ryan next week. Dagen Reince Priebus said that last night when talking to hannity. Paul ryan wants to support the present of nominee but once to see someone who will bring the party together. See who comes out of that meeting, donald trump has the momentum and if he can come out of that meeting and have paul ryan on the defensive, i am onboard now that is a huge step in unifying the Republican Party. This should be an easy race for the republicans because hillary is a week candidate, she is not likable. The selection for the republicans to lose if the party does not come together, if the infighting doesnt stop the gop elites might hand hillary the presidency. Dagen she is made weaker by bernie still being in it. I know he is your guy. The last couple weeks, they pulled back on the Democratic Party. I have been critical of the Democratic Party and the way they changed the rules over the past 20 years but it exacerbated under Debbie Wasserman schultzs control. The dnc has been Holding Hands with Hillary Clinton for who knows how long, 2008, we are seeing it last year, supporting her back in august of last year, what hurts Hillary Clinton is the fact that she is not representative of the party today. She is a 90s creation, 90 of the party supporting Bernie Sanders, they should be shocked, they should have prepared, should have looked at few studies and seeing where the country is going but instead they are more concerned about their interests. Dagen i have heard that, wrong candidate for these times, speaking of hillary, longtime Hillary Clinton advisor huma aberdeen was interviewed as part of the fbi probe into the former secretarys private email server, Hillary Clinton has not been interviewed by the fbi. Will new information come out . Publicly . Dagen it could get leaked. My question is what doesnt hurt Hillary Clinton related to this email scandal . Democrats dismiss it, i say be careful. Internally democrats are fearful. They publicly say that, close advisers to hillary report they are concerned, dnc members are concerned what would happen if this goes further. Is there another candidate jumping in . At this point i think she is tough to the Democratic Party and the electoral map is so much in her favor that no matter what happens unless she is carried off in handcuffs which is most likely impossible, if anything she will have a plea deal is what i heard from the inside if anything happens. Her campaign and herself saying they are not going to find anything. We are very confident everything we have shared is true and is not going to change the game. To your point, like teflon, she is absolutely trying to portray that but everyone is still waiting to see if something is going to come out of this that will change the game. Dagen the fact that she dismisses it and so many supporters of hers dismiss it, this is a big sandwich of nothing. I just made that up. I think that makes them vulnerable because even if there is never any indictment, you are going to have people quit their jobs very likely and leak information to the press which is equally damning. I agree with that but the sad part about this is a lot of hillary supporters just dont care. You have some that might care but a lot of hillary supporters, they want government goodies, some of them care about this stuff but i dont think she will get indicted and i dont think this is going to dagen assuming she did get the nomination those are the very people she needs to get to vote for her and independents, she will be at war with donald trump for their voting. She needs the bluecollar voters who do care about those issues but when you pull democrats they see a republican talking point, republicans are mixed delusional on this issue like completely in denial, it is complicated, the press doesnt reported, a lot is behind closed doors. I think there is a psychology of confidence, to portray confidence in the voters driven by hillary, her surrogates, super pacs, media, etc. Bernie supporters are different brand of support, they dont trust institutions, dont trust the tea party system anymore. A good chunk of them stay at home. That is what she needs to be worried about. Dagen i will leave it there. Take care. What is the name of your book . Government gone wild. Dagen government gone wild, good to see you. We will speak with the Presumptive Republican president ial nominee for president of the United States, donald trump coming up in the 7 00 hour, you dont want to miss it. To jacks point the concern is not the car you are in, we are pretty safe in that regard, the other people are on the road, we are not quite there yet, they dont have the infrastructure in place. It has to come slowly. One thing we can notice is change is coming, Silicon Valley is growing the way you commute to work or from work, the way you buy clothes, the way the food gets here, everything we do is changing. Unemployment is Holding Steady at 5 . 202 thousand jobs added and women put careers on hold to start a family hope to go return. How do they do that, how do they get back to work after an extended break, looking for advice fox Business Correspondent cheryl casone, she has written a book, comeback, how todays moms reenter the workforce successfully. Good to see you. Was this inspired by your mom. Cheryl it was, she worked and she had to go back fulltime and a lot of women face the situation. 40 of marriages still end in divorce in this day and age and i never suffered. We had time at night and weekends together and so many women now that i interviewed, i interviewed over 100 women, told me that they felt guilty that they were going to go to work and children were going to suffer and get into trouble of school and the opposite is true. In fact, according to harvard, women, specially daughters of working women are they make better managers, they make more moneyo money and and i found all of this in my research. In particular credit sweese is bringing one these woman into the work. Stacy cooper, graduate of class 2014, remember her feelings coming back to the corporate after staying in the world after years. That part was easy, but then when it actually happens, its terrifying, what if i dont remember. Cheryl she knew she was ready. I felt like i had a lot to give to my children that would actually would be helpful if i was working in different ways with my brain. Cheryl participants to mentors, offers onthejob training. Current class member julian each of the women in the Program Brought to the office that was just different. It wasnt necessarily better or worse, it was just different than maybe if they had stayed working the entire time. Cheryl lisa says moms that want to come back should be confident in their skills. Many feel that perhaps kids moved on, they are wondering whether they have come back to the workforce. What i say dont sell yourself short. Think about the skills that you have built over the years even while at home. Cheryl all right, so sweat swees, these women are coming together and going with mentors and becoming valid members of the banks and theyre succeeding and theres a double standard, im going to put it out there, theres a double standard. Dagen mike said in the break, women are better, you can fill in the blank. I say everything. Being the father of five children almost six. Mike entering back into the workforce i think is great for the women and the companies, when you can brace children, which i will say is the best job in the world and come back to the workforce and be able to balance that you become an extremely valuable employee. Cheryl theres more to that. What women have as far as skills, they cant put on the resume is multitasking and organizational skills, patience. If youre a manager and you can negotiate with a 4yearold, you can negotiate with a screaming 22yearold in the office. It actually helps corporate culture. Dagen irony there millennials act like children. Cheryl several of them do. On one side we have organizations really having a hard time finding skilled talent and Certain Companies are really starting to attract women and looking at maybe offering more Flexible Work arrangements. Did you see any kind of challenges, what were the Biggest Challenges they felt they had coming into the workforce . Cheryl well, it was themselves. They told me they felt insecured. What do you have to offer . You have the skills that i just gave you but also you think that the company is doing you a favor by hiring you, what they all found out when they went back to work was that they were doing a company a favor because they were coming back and during dedicated and they got the job done because they needed to go home to their families. And your futures here in the United States, the dow managing the break a twoday losing streak with about 9point game, we have losses across the board. Theyre contained but losses nonetheless. Here with me this morning to break it all down, we are getting ready to dig into the jobs report, mike murphy. Mike good morning. Dagen we want to move back to politics, a top story. A call for unity, despite many in the Republican Party backing donald trump, speaker of the house paul ryan is not one of them. In an interview ryan is saying hes not ready to support presumptive nominee trump. Newt gingrich called a mistake, former president ial candidate mike huckabee, governor, good to see you as always. Great to be here this morning. Dagen why would he say that . I dont know. I mean, its not helpful. I wonder if some of these guys want donald trump losing and then can say, we told you so. Theyre unwillingness to unit around the nominee, may not be their first choice, heck, hes not my first choice, i was my first choice, but you know i got beat by donald trump, fine, if you can beat me, i quit. I know Hillary Clinton, i know a disastrous she would be as president , shes not her husband so im going to go out and help donald trump become the president of the United States. Im appalled that there are republicans, i dont know, theyre just disappointed that they didnt get what they wanted, but for many of us specially those of sus, conservative, prolife people, we always work, willing to come around and help the guy who got the nominee. Dagen with paul ryans, departure from what he had said before, he had said repeatedly that he would support the nominee and then he does this. Again, getting to his motives is he trying to cover cover people of congressmen that are not yet behind trump or Common Ground on some of the issues that are important to him, do you have any insight to that . Lead, follow, or get the heck out of the way. Im sorry to be so blunt, but hes the speaker, that means hes the leader, lead members of congress to support our party, lets support the entire ticket, lets support every person running for governor, every person running for senator and every person running for congress and lets support our nominee for president , lets support our entire ticket. Thats when it works best and if hes not going to do that he and people like him will hurt and affect and alianate people that are energetic because they are. Lets not offend them. Dagen exactly. Lets stay with that. Do you think trump is going to have any problem raising money, governor . No, i really dont. I think its going to be a combination of a lot of people in the Business Community who realize that he is not going to be the destruct i have to business because it would be against his own interest and against instincts as a business person. I also think hes going to raise a lot of small dollar contributions from people across the country who have never ever given. People in West Virginia in that rally yesterday, that was power, thats what we are going to see. I think its kind of refreshing because he is giving voice to the people who felt like they had been kicked in the gut by elites in the establishment, people who stand on their feet on concrete floor all day and taken in the teeth, lost their pensions, lost their paychecks, work hard and get nothing more and being looked down on and donald trump has given them a sense of hope. Dagen its really amazing because the part of the country where we come from, the new york city billionaire is more connected with the people in the south and midwest then anybody else in the Republican Party quite frankly. Tell me about it. Dagen trump is the presumptive nominee, everybody wants to know who the Vice President will be. Nikki haley and susan martinez. Nikki haley, no. She was under consideration. Dagen ben carson said last night that trumps pick could even be a democrat which i cant believe, but you want to job, governor, would you take it if offered to you . Look, i am right now engaged in a whole lot of things. Its not something that its on my plate, the Vice President y is a job nobody wants but nobody turns it down. Thats just how it works. Here is the thing, im looking at all speculation, reading blogs, nobody knows except donald trump and maybe two or three people around him. But one thing i will tell you based on years of politics, people who talk dont know and people who know dont talk. Mike hey, governor, you sound an adult in the room when so many people around in the Republican Party kind of sound childish with bickering going back and forth. I for one think youll be a great candidate because we need somebody for Vice President that is going to look to unit, not to pull the party apart further, so i think we need more of what youre saying, i applaud you for it. Well, i appreciate it. Just being called an adult is remarkable because i think so many people who know me feel like i never have quite grown up. Im sort of like tinker bell, thats very nice. Dagen i want to get your reaction to this, former president of mexico vicente fox told maria that theres no way mexico will pay for the wall. I am not going to pay for that wall. I am not, and he should know that and im not going to apologize. Dagen well, fox later did apologize for comments saying saying that forgiveness is one of the greatest qualities that human beings have. Trump then accepted his apology. And he apologized and i accept his apology. I thought it was very nice. Did you see it . Honestly, i thought it was very, very nice because i was giving him a little hard time about something, he was the former president of mexico and i thought it was nice that he apologized. Dagen while the two seemed to bury the hatchet, fox changed last night. Hes a racist, hes expressed him being a racist, thats what we all see and perceive, this president chair of the United States is of such big impact, making money is not running a nation, a nation needs a compassionate leadership, needs a president that is really on on the plate. Dagen governor, your reaction. Well, its almost like the three faces of eve. But, look, here is the thing, lets just be very clear, donald trump may be many things but to call him a racist is absurd. This man has a long history of in his life of hiring people all across the board of ethnicity and i dont think anybody that has ever known him or worked with him will call him a racist. Thats a term that people call around when they dont really have anything substantive to argue about. If you want to beat up on donald trump, fine, go ahead, but racism is absurd. Thats just absurd. Dagen when people try to throw at mud at donald trump it ends up like a boomerang. Donald trump is not the one who gets dirty. Yeah, i think everybody who was on the stage with him can attest that the facts that normally would happen in a political environment just didnt happen with donald trump and, again, its a phenomena, i stand back in awe and somewhat of appreciation that says what hes thinking at the moment and gets away with us, most of us never did. Donald trump says at the podium what most people say sittingaroe with closest friends and he goes out there and belts it out. He isnt politically correct and not filtered and frankly a little refreshing to find someone who is not being so careful not to offend the professionally offended and we are living in a world where some people will figure out a way to get offended and we are always having to apologize. Hes never sorry and lets go back to the old movie, love is never having to say youre sorry. Dagen amen to that, governor. Good to see you, happy mothers day to all the wonderful women in your life as well. Thank you so much. Dagen maria will be speaking for donald trump presumptive nominee for the United States, monday 7 00 a. M. Eastern. You dont want to mist. Massive flames into the houston sky, incredible images. From hats to horses to even triple crowns. What we can expect from the 142nd run tofg kentucky run ning of the Kentucky Derby. Coming up when a moment turns romantic why pause to take a pill . More job cuts coming to goldman sachs. The bank layed off more than 100 workers in sales division, maybe slump in key businesses in this counter quarter. Goldman cuts about 5 in workforce to help make room for new employees but these cuts are deeper this year. Dagen. Dagen jo, thanks for that. Cuts come hour before only an hour and 15 minutes away from this. Economist looking for 202,000 jobs added with unemployment at 5 . Im going to start with you because this is your wheel house. Whats the other thing that we ought to be looking for . I have to say its two things. Of course, wages, everybodies eyes are on wages, so thats a big concern. If people arent making more money and we see Household Incomes have not improved, you know, theyre not out there spending, we are seeing people saving more so this gdp, economy is certainly very sluggish and it has to do with wages. I think that thats what janet yellen is really focused on as well. Dagen june fed meeting. Mike. Mike i want to see Labor Participation. Dagen bingo. Mike more people into the market so you could see an up tick, thats what we need, thats what we need to get the economy going . Its all about wage growth. Dagen come on. Get the lighter out, lets light this puppy. Itll be nice to see interesting good jobs be created rather than just the food service. Thats fine, we all need food. Lets get some real whitecollar paying jobs which will push wage number and everything else. Dagen we will be all over it. An hour and 15 minutes before the jobs report. How one company is honoring veteran families, straight ahead. It is jobs day but as we go to break but a tribute to the hardest job in the world, your mom, everybodys mom, happy mothers day dagen we are honoring or heros this morning. Announcing a new partnership with suntext to help bring scholarships to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Mornings with maria maria molina at the harbor of downtown manhattan. Man, its coming out there, right, maria . Maria thats right, dagen, its a little messy, the best of days in new york city but with me this morning major dan and talk about what really inspired him but firstic take a quick check of waiter conditions because across the northeast over the couple of days its been the same story day after day dealing with rain and also chilly temperatures and thats really forecast for today. We have a storm system out west thats bringing in rain anywhere from california into parts of the rockies, possibly elevations and snowfall in areas and eventually the threat for Severe Weather in high plains and Central Plains as we head into this weekend. Current temperatures in parts of the great lakes. Forecast highs are going to be very summerlike across the center of the nation. Now, lets talk to major dan ronnie. Tell me behind the story of folds of honor. It was about nine years ago, i was on a commercial Airline Flight from chicago to green rapids, michigan. That night i watch it had other side of war, not from the skies, but watching on the darkest night of their lives and he had a 4yearold son and that little boy watched his father, American Flag draped coffin and at that moment god called me on a mission and since then weve awarded over 10,000 scholarships but our very first scholarship to a man and today the sun is not shining but we are able to kick off a partnership with sun text with hundreds of marina that will be able to support folds of honor. Maria whats the future for folds of honor . I think we are going rally america and asking them to stand with us and supporting military dependents that provided such a great sacrifice for our freedom so that we can fuel their dreams and they can go on and become productive citizens and support themselves and america. Maria major, iraq war veteran and air force pilot, thank you so much for your service. Thank you, im not comfortable in the water. I would like to be in the air. Dagen i want to get your reaction to this because giving back to the military and taking care of our veterans is really the responsibility and even with walmart and its campaign to hire veterans. We see at monster, we work with Many Companies with veteran hiring initiatives, its just i think Companies Realize that sometimes theres a challenge just like we had cheryl before about women coming back to the workplace and for veterans transitioning is certainly a challenge but they have proven to be incredible workers and they have brought so many skills that can be transferred into the job market but certainly i think what theyre doing, you know, with the interview that maria just had is outstanding to see that theyre focused on the children of veterans and doing Something Special to offer them, you know, scholarships and education and and we need more of that, i think, in this country for sure. So i just really applaud all their efforts and its great to see sun text really supporting them as a great partner. Ihop they get more partnerships as they bring awareness to this. Jack we owe it to them. Theres no draft. Its wonderful to take the steps. Dagen get to know them. Get to know a veteran and somebody in the service. Its easy with any organization. We want to change gears a little bit. Sex, drugs and hollywood. How about that, sean penns meeting with el chapo and the sexy actress behind it. Here is what he told wall street anthony scaramucci. I actually have been predicting a Trump Presidency for months. I was in the barons round table and they asked the question who is going to be the next president and everybody said Hillary Clinton and i said donald trump, people gasped when you said that back then. Dagen you cannot miss wall street week, he is the dude, jeff gunlak is the guy. Wall street tonight 8 00 p. M. Eastern time. We will be right back [plumber] i need to be where the pipes are. So i use quickbooks and run my entire business from the cloud. I keep an eye on sales and expenses from anywhere. Even down here in the dark i can still were having a great month. And celebrate accordingly. I run on quickbooks. Thats how i own it. So strap yourselves in for action flo Small Business edition. Oh, no im up to my neck in operating costs ill save the day for plumbers and bakers and scapers of lawn, shes got customized coverage you can count on. You chipped my birdbath now youre gonna pay not so fast i cover more than just cars and trucks. Action flo did somebody say insurance . Children flo action flo cut can i get a smoothie, please . Ooh they got smoothies . For me. Welcome back its friday may 6th one hour until the job report for last month top stories but right here right now. Battle ground coal country days away from the West Virginia primary. Donald trump turning hiss focus towards Hillary Clinton especially after her major flipflop on killing the coal industry and jobs. See, im going to put the minors back to work o, and she said im going to put the miners and mines out of business, and then she k078 comes over and tries to explain. Closest aid is said to have been interviewed by the fbi. Agent now working on scheduling an interview with clinton herself. Why chapter that happened yet . The controversial answer, ahead. The dramatic capture of el chapo and mexican actress and how it led to the drug king pen being taken down. Were counting down to the fastest two minutes in sports. Coming up everything you need to know before place your bets on the Kentucky Derby and some news. How about that . And then jobs report due out in one hour. Economists looking for 202,000 jobs created last month. Unemployment rate Holding Steady 5 . Ahead of that report lets check on markets. Futures lower across the board. Picking up a little bit of steam. But still contain 41 point loss on dow future right now. Turning back to politics putting weight behind donald trump for president. Voting to endorse Presumptive Republican nominee days before West Virginias president ial requirement. On behalf of the best coal miners on the world who mine the cleanest and safest and most environmentally sound coal in the in world, were so pleased to introduce to and endorse you today. Wish you the best of lung. Mrs. Form or or secretary of state Hillary Clinton tries to shake off her anticoal image. Which she earned after saying that she had put, quote, a lot of coal miners out of business. Joining me now is recognize along with mercedes since we ended on Hillary Clintonly go to you. Does it hurt her . No. Dagen, were on a business channel what matters are fact and markets. Right so coal competes with natural gas. Natural gas prices are are 1 6th compared to what we were when barack obama was running for president. Demand from china is down. West virginia coal actually is at a competitive disadvantage with coal from western us u. S. Which is lower in sulfur and lower in cost. So we see sympathy. We feel sympathy for families in the coal mining business forever. But it is a lie for donald trump to say were going to bring those jobs back because hes facing markets that do not lie. I take an issue with the word lie because large part of what had has hurt coal but a large part that has hurt coal is not price and switch to it but regulations coming out of the Obama Administration or particularly what the epa has done to coal jobs so maybe they dont come back but some of them will. But the fact you came loaded with so many facts sends a message at least political play that this was a snafu on Hillary Clintons part . Not at all. Inserting facts is because facts seem to be kind of missing in this debate. Its all haha hillary misspoke look at her. What matters is West Virginia coal miners are are losing jobs because of the competition from natural gas and other sources. And hillary point is is she was trying to have a program to give hope to miners to do something else. Because she cant wave a magic wand nor can trump to bring jobs back. Mercedes get in here. Mid goodness talk about free market and the fact that get the federal government out of there. Weve seenings ares look the haze rule, like the clean power plant. That president obama has pushed forward. That has whats caused hardworking coal miners to lose their jobs over 50,000 jobs have been lost from 2008 to 2015. Plus the other thing is is because of these regulations,s its caused many many of these coal dpeens announce bankruptcy is youre talking because of the federal governments overbearing regulations which Hillary Clinton will continue to pursue on her journey to destroy coal mining communities. You have that going on in additionally you have this intentional overbearing government basically saying coal miners sorry, youre out of a job, and were not going to bring them back. I want to step back because the view from above on this issue is these these white collar, blue collar guys that union member, this is an entire group of voters that are in play, richard. And that when a lot of these Union Workers that had it was kind of a given that they would vote for whoever was the democratic nominee in years past, thats no longer the case in in instances. Right. So i will concede dagen incidentally epa regulations dont take effect until 2022 thats how overbearing they are. But the fact is down scale blue collar voters down scale blue collar voters have not been voting routinely democratic president for more, many cycles would hillary like to get them . Of course she would thats why she has a plan to give them hope rather than despair but the fact is yes. Union members but again go back an lookty bet you that this union, these members have not been voting countily for democrats for a long, long time. Back and forth. Ment actually this Mining Association, they have indoorsed more Democratic Candidates than they have republican candidates in the past about cycle so youre wrong about that. No richard youre wrong. If you talk about barack obama and john kerry and al gore. Look back at the Mining Association an they have supported Democratic Candidates, thats correct. 40 careers ago. I will tell you this they love donald trump and 70 went for him in the republican primary. So Hillary Clinton has a long road ahead of her and winning over hearts and minds of those voters but i want to move on to huma abidin report out that she was interviewed by federal investigators as part of the fbi probe into the former secretary private email server. Richard, whats going to come out of this . Its funny to me when i turn on fox and fox business, all yesterday was about this whole story. Against the back drop of republicans having a nominee who everybody of consequence almost in Republican Leadership refuses to embrace. So somehow another this email story is that life preserver. Its leading, look fact of the matter is that all reports indicate that the this is an fbi led by republican james comey everybody says is a straight shooter. All indications are that hillary is not subject to any kind of enforcement action because what she did is equivalent of a former secretary of state preemail taking her papers putting her in basement having newspaper clean uppings about drones that later security people said oh, you know what thats classified. So its to say that thats in her basement somehow putting National Security at risk. Thats what were talking about here. Should have in the its place never done that in the fist place, richard. Newspaper clippings her class it was an email server that see, anyone who worked in government including myself know that you anything that you do, any documentation, email sent out, you have to be careful and fact that she was careless in what she did with convenience doing this private email server but those hackers could have breeched her email system and what what were going to find out is going to be interesting. Wing democrats need to take into skt that fact that you have fbi investigation of a president ial candidate thats insane. And the fact that you democratses are blowing it off as typical, and Hillary Clinton is saying oh this is just a cia going you know array it is a problem. This is a Serious Investigation it needs to be conclusive and figure out what actions she has taken and if she did have unclassified information. A beautiful microcosm of what will happen between now and november. It is going to be ads, debate, and we cant wait for we are going to soak up every minute of it. Ripped thank you so much for being here. Good to see you. Mercedes thank you both. Maria will be speaking with respect of the republican nominee donald trump 7 a. M. , in the eastern hour you have to be here. We want you here but this hour in particular. Coming up, world most notorious fugitive taken down by his lust for love and mexican actress kate, her l role in the el chapo capture former time super bowl winning quarterback just releasing a cookbook. Does his wife really eat . The qb12 nutritional menu includes ice cream and sweet potato and Newspaper Printing has sold out. The backup career should that deflategate suspension hold. Well be back. Lets do reverse math so its about 40 minutes away. I look at jack to make sure i did that math right. How critical is this jobs report again were in the heat of a president ial election. We know who republican nominee is going to be. It gives more foughter for both size we have a fed meet thats coming up. A fed that might raises interest in june. I think that markets are much more focused on, though, the fed aspect of it. Aisle not expecting a great number here. It looks like bond market is expecting a lousy number. Stockings are not excited. Tax receipts were good. Ap number is good. And guys at goldman are expecting a upman surprise 224 or something. I dont seeing in to myc sure thats not expect j look at that tenyear treasury 10. 5 . How much fear theres in treasury. I think if you look at it number will come in decent or whether its plus or minus 200 but i think if you look deeper economy is not that strong. So that headline number is one thing but actual economy is not as stropping as headline. Pay important to revision this morning about what happened in two prier months to see if numbers were better and to see that could tell us maybe there was a little bit more strength than what we expected in the job market. Or o were they lowered and maybe it was weaker so theres a lot to dig into this morning when these numbers cool out. If youre a german investor youre get zero so 110 you struck it retch wust bonds so International Buying of u. S. Bonds. Not as crappy as germany. Thats awesome. Guess whos here. [inaudible] i love it. So geraldo is here to talk about his hunt for el chapo, texas. In Rolling Stone magazine, during that ride from the air fltd to the hiding spot of elle chop foe, you passed a mexican Army Check Point with two soldiers in uniform look at you and almost with a feeling of nervous that was palpable or embarrassment waved you through. Did that ever happen . Not at all. Why he would say that i have no idea you have to ask him but that is not true. That is kate, was she the girlfriend, she was really like the crush that drug lord el chapo had after two remarkable escapes behind bar. She talked about her role in capture of her relationship with him to this gentleman right here. Hes a fox news reporting special that is coming up this weekend. Rng good morning dagen. How incredible was this . It was incredible becauses this was Osama Bin Laden Joaquin Guzman thats what dea called him most important drug dealer on earth plus most wanted fugitive on earth after he escaped through that tunnel that had i reported on from the prison outside of mexico city so most rnt to ugh doctor dealer on earth risks everything to spend couple of hours in the jungle with kate why . Because she was an actress who starred in very popular primary time mexican soap opera the the queen of the south which she plays a ruthless drug queen pin so she fell in love with the character and obsessed over series and diddering including exchanging flirty Text Messages with kate. Dea is watching. Mexican authorities are watching. They track them to the jungle rendezvous. They dont hit it because they dont want to kill sean penn but hes like King Congress and blond beauty they killed beast. Tfnt goes to show you because he was married what are you doing sending ring flrty messages to an actressthat every husband should get. Go to jail. One thing that dea told us i thought was funnyflooding america with heroin. He was addicted to viagra, and he had visits in prison. Not with Kate Castillo but with series maybe his wife. Maybe others, so you get a shipment into the mexico, and security prison of viagra so thats el chapo horny little devil now in jail. So i know he escape from prison but he can get viagra shipments and a murderer and trafficker, getting basically getting visits from the ladies in prison. Why do they awe allow that . Culture in is different than it is here. Within weeks he will be extra extradited and from mass murder to massive drug dealing. This is the man responsible for poisoning all of new england. He kind of invented popularity of this synthetic heroin killing so many people. Losing 400 a year in tiny new hampshire. In the city is of Manchester City of 100,000, there was a weekend 7 Overdose Deaths in the city of 100,000. I mean, it really is a pa thetting awful problem, it does point to the problem on the southern border and security that donald trump talks about. And i think that his arrest and vivid portrayal of the man and his weaknesses lets say is an important piece. I cant wait for this. I love your laugh. I love youve always been a very generous friend. With jobs every months is it always so grim . 5 unemployment is good but youve had wages essentially did not grow during his term. You have an economy that is never grown faster than 3 during his term. Expecting off on the opposition to the rising minimum wage i think he is. He did. He came out and said he had be open to it. Youre starting to hear more more and more about hes open to negotiation and his kind of standard line. Thank you geraldo fox news reporting special this week in beauty in the beast when had kate met el chapo sunday at nine. Still it come thousands will gather for the first lefght triple crown. The 140 second Kentucky Derby, as question go to break we break down favorite with a handicapper and dont forget your derby hat. Only way that you will ever see me in a hat because hats are stupid. Even at the derby, but there you go. Theres my snap chat hat, well be right become. The derby, baby tomorrow 142 pinged running first leg of the triple crown before you pour, dawn your derby hat give you a preview of the fastest two minutes in sports. Handicapper, Kevin Christine jo ling kent is here as well. Kevin, just tell me what to look for. Ittell me who favorite is. Kind of who what long shot do you like here . You know, its a fun weekend. We have a horse named niqs and first looking to repeat the american pharaoh and comes in undefeated going to give mario and jay their second Kentucky Derby win, and exciting im an exaggerator. Trained by keith. Hes kind of second favorite in this race. But a long shot i would be use is a bit of a price with a name motom i am in some of my bets. Kevin theres a horse named some breaking news and all of these beautiful horses. But the race goes by so fast what should people consider when they pick a horse in the tomorrows derby. Im sure you were betting on breaking news at the perfect but its interesting so there to make the Kentucky Derby field theres a series ofs races a road to Kentucky Derby 36 point raises throughout the year and however has most makes that field so their favorites so did okay in those races. Second to third place finishes you can get that. Kentucky derby. Com but really horses have the most points and normally favorites in that race so easy thing to do is take top pointers look at them with the favorite for the Kentucky Derby. How much money is based on . Will it be a lot more because of the american pharaoh last year because theres been this even greater interest in reising after finally weve got a triple crown winner . I think so. Weve got a lot of new fans just in the winter time and in the fall this past year. Just leading up to this Kentucky Derby so thats really exciting too because we have a lot of new fanses coming in and peoplementing to bet to exciting they think. So i think close to 200 million bet on this Kentucky Derby both locally at the track and louisville and across the world too. A lot of people and outlet it is taking to Kentucky Derby a lot of money to be made this weekend. Kevin what do you do to attract millennials to this an me really into it. It has a Kentucky Derby filter. How do you attract next generation of people to bet potentially or watch this when it airs this weekend . You know thats one of our biggest goals is trying to attract those millennial crowds look you said a lot of older horse racing fans but we want to attract younger fans too. We have a great different series of races here at church town hill that we try to do racing under looght. Mixed with entertainment. Live music, drink specials but try to bring that younger crowd and then we yeah exactly use technology too like snap chat we started a Kentucky Derby app, and then twin spiers they have an app too so quick to bet on the derby and millennials use android and iphone to bet the race. Saying great people in kentucky. And the booze flows freely. Nothing like a little bourbon 8 00 in the morning. Kevin thank you Kentucky Derby is tomorrow. Coming up over 30 minutes away from the april jobs report. Bring you the number love, and a tribute to one of the hardest working jobs in the world. Moms this just got interesting. Why pause to take a pill . Or stop to find a bathroom . Cialis for daily use is approved to treat both erectile dysfunction and the urinary symptoms of bph, like needing to go frequently, day or night. Tell your doctor about all your medical conditions and medicines, and ask if your heart is healthy enough for sex do not take cialis if you take nitrates for chest pain, or adempas for pulmonary hypertension, as it may cause an unsafe drop in blood pressure. Ask your doctor about cialis and a 200 savings card breaking news exactly 30 minute away from the jobs report for last month most important number for our economy. On that note, good morning everybody. Im dagen mcdowel Maria Bartiromo has the morning off. Were wait for that april jobs report. Its due out again at the bottom of the hour. Heres what had the economists are expecting. There are a lot of whisper number going on but 202,000 jobs is joe all number that were expecting to see. But Unemployment Rate Holding Steady at 5 . Checking your markets ahead of that number, futures have been showing weakness so far this morning. Very contained 36 point loss on the dow futures. Dow up only o 9 point yesterday. Snapping a twoday losing streak. But we have so much more to cover this morning. As the republicans search for unity and their party, donald trump is the presumptive nominee but their Major Players in gop establishment having a u tough time getting behind him. Including House Speaker paul ryan. But rnc chairman Reince Priebus says hell change and trump is already getting phone calls. In some cases people are not going to be instantly onboard and i know that can be frustrated for some people, and ting that this is beginning to cool together. Plrchg trump i admire you sir. Meantime Hillary Clinton closest aid is said to have interviewed by the fbi agency now working on scheduling an interview with clinton herself. Why hasnt that happened . The controversial answer ahead. Plus fleeing for their lives out of control wildfire that evacuated an entire city. Spreading raptdly. Thousands of people airlifted as fire threatens Oil Production. The deve station coming up. Solo and now a new actor named into the role. Who . You have to wait around to find out and here with me all morning long, Kourtney Rose with mike fur murphy are you ready for this jobs report or what . Fired up light a candle under. What mos market today but im not expecting too much outline from the expectation. If it happens look out thank you guys. Great to see you all. Into our top story this morning. Republican party later calling for unity rushing to endorse presumptive nominee ahead of the convention. Paul ryan when asked if hell support donald trump in the general election he said this im just not ready to do that at this point. Im not there right now. And i want to, but i think what is required that we unify this party and bulk on unify this party will cool from the presumptive nominee. Trump responding saying, quote, im not ready to support speaker ryans agenda perhaps in the future we can Work Together and work best for what is for the American People and treated so blade for so long it is time for politicians to put them first. Joining us now with Newt Gingrich president ial campaign, and speakerman, lee, what do you make of this because newt came former House Speaker said youve got to get it together. Paraphrasing of course. So impressed with paul ryan and i was shocked at what he said. I mean hes speak speaker of the house and arrogance of it that donald trump needs to meet what he and other elites say are the republican standards is as if donald trump did something wrong by getting the most votes. You know thats ridiculous they need to come around to him and i was very glad that donald trump said you know im not going to adopt the ryan agenda which is the frankly too much having to washington elite agenda. But i think that that i believe and i dont have any inside knowledge on this. But there has to do something with speak or ryan wants to reform entitlement and donald trump is said im not beginning to touch Social Security. And i wonder if this is negotiating tactic to kind of formulate a more cohesive Party Platform coming out that will come out at the convention. J you can say that paul ryan is like trump in that respect trying to make great deals. The problem is that donald trump really has that right. Senior citizens are the core constituency for republicans you cannot win without citizens these people worked all of their lives. Social security and medicare are not welfare programs. They are called i think as a entitlement. They are social welfare insurance that these people paid into. Paid in but taking out more than they ever paid in. System can be reform i tell parents that, that im basically funding Social Security for you. T i mean medicu guys. But the point that trump is making he doesnt want to go there except with a plan that is robust and a comprehensive package and one thing that republicans have done frankly poorly ryan is market ideas to the American People and i dont think trump wants to be vaccinate to that. He wants to mac sure that he has a complete package and doesnt want to go there until we cant. With newt reince and responding to comments on fox news last night. Lets go. Paul ryan made a big mistake today and needs to understand this speaker of the house and obligation to unify the party. I dont think anyone expected this whole thing to come to an end on tuesday, and i think its going to take some time for some people to come to grips and to get to know donald trump and to get onboard. I feel very confident he want it is to do it. He understands the importance of party unity. Mr. Trump said the same on tuesday night. Ig that look were 24, 48 hours out of indiana. Where this came kind of as a shock this week. Quare going to come together. I promise you. Promising that mitt romney is saying that he will not back or support donald trump as the presumptive Party Nominee to which donald trump said im sure darn. Yeah. Well they need to come to him, and again i think it is i guess theres still in post tray mat Traumatic Stress and not about entitlement reform but speaker ryan wants to have a say in who the Vice President is. But the arrogance of it to me and to do it publicly is really shocking. For speaker ryan who i think has been such a solid guy he should be leading party unity efforts like maybe jack you can get in here but maybe trying to unify the people in congress the republican it is in congress who some of whom are not onboard a huge understatement 12 of people in congress has endorsed nominee that is incredible. I mean, trump is a serious problem here. I can i have this another word other than incredible is why that may be foolish. Foolish or could it be that people are playing the long game it is not impossible that donald trump turned out to be a disaster for republican pert and some people want to assess that before they hop onboard. I want a more charitable position. Its in there and in hands had of very people whether it is a disaster or not. Exactly. Trvelgt a prophesy with an International Disaster trump is president and or needs a better for the country hes just the nominee and he does something foolish with north korea or something. Uhuh but you can say you have a process and trump went out and got most votes. As governor huckabee mentioned he beat me so im supporting him ands thats not up to debate now at this point of who should be the nominee or who shouldnt be. But this man got the most votes so he should be the nominee. Its fair for people to decide whether i want to support the guy. You know, theyre voting yet to happen. Ivelgt but you can say that about voters and ill give lee the last word to say about that voters its your choice, its your vote but when youre a member of a party that theres an expectation that you get behind the nominee for the presidency. Right . Well theyre telling him, were not sure we support you but not unify the party thats literally what paul ryan said yesterday. Thats unbelievable. One quick thing on republican standards what trump, donald trump is enforced which is yes, unfair trade and american Infrastructure Improvement you know what that pop list idea came from alexander 14 tony hamilton that was american system that hes endorsing and that was endorsed by Abraham Lincoln and up to the party end of the 20 9 century. So what donald trump is ugh tay about is real are conservativism. Conservativism is proamericannism. It is not progloballism. Its tough enough for country yet its own house in order and own antibiotic together best thing is to make country strong and set example of a functioning free market economy. To paraphrase editorial page at least American People are willing to fight for american greatness. But were not goig to sit by like jp an france and watch our nation in decline. Absolutely. And if you have afib an irregular heartbeat that may put you at five times greater risk of stroke they can pool together in the heart, forming a clot that can break free, and travel upstream to the brain where it can block blood flow and cause a stroke. But if you have afib thats not caused by a heart valve problem, pradaxa can help stop clots from forming. Pradaxa was better than warfarin at reducing the risk of stroke, in a Clinical Trial without the need for regular blood tests. And, in the rare event of an emergency, pradaxa is the only oral blood thinner other than warfarin with a specific reversal treatment to help your body clot normally again. Pradaxa is not for people who have had a heart valve replacement. Dont stop taking pradaxa without talking to your doctor. Stopping increases your risk of stroke or blood clots. Ask your doctor if you need to stop pradaxa before any planned medical or dental procedure. Pradaxa can cause serious, and sometimes, fatal bleeding. Dont take pradaxa if you have abnormal bleeding. And seek immediate medical care for unexpected signs of bleeding, like unusual bruising. Pradaxa may increase your bleeding risk if youre 75 or older, have kidney problems, stomach ulcers, a bleeding condition, or take certain medicines. Side effects with pradaxa can include indigestion, stomach pain, upset or burning. Go with pradaxa, the only blood thinner that lowers your stroke risk better than warfarin and has a specific reversal treatment. Eligible patients could pay as little as zero dollars on copay. Economists looking for 202,000 jobs and Holding Steady at 5 . Joining me now is bgc partner. Steve, moore, and form jeb bush Economic Advisory and john, weft potential here. We have joni mike, and jack everybody were excited. Look at that six box fantastic. Steve moore to you first. Your expectation. Well the big question is going to be is the my grows 2 or o 1 and saw gdp numbers with a strong job report maybe were back at 2 growth rate. So e steve cortez do you buy that . You know, i dont. At least not yet. Well see what number comes out with. But to me anything north of 200,000 jobs would be good news but the adp report private payroll number that was pretty dour and that makes me suspicious about public number, government number that well get to today. John is there any reason to pick up steam in material was job growth . What steve just said we have a bad adp number last month. Job openings have fallen off u you know, weve had some very strong job reports from previous months. I think some of that momentum may continue into this one. But qoal have to wait and see. We know gdp bad First Quarter coming around 5 . Labor market is telling Different Things from overall economy, and Economic Activity so well have to see if, you know, productivity and while thats falling a lot whether that will trance late into job loss or continue. Is it shocking a little bit mike that you can have job growth at 200,000 an economy that is barely growing . It is, i think has people confused with the headline number you think everything is going great but dig deeper things arent that great around there. So we need to get clear signal and hopefully get that. Where is it great in terms of job growth . Really best job market certainly right now is the health care area. Nursing continue to be in strong demand. Physical therapist, but also Information Technology application developers, software developers, i. T. Continues to be very strong so you have skilled and specific position. Unfortunately a falloff in retail and that concerns me that this number could be lower than 200,000 because retails has been pretty strong throughout the year. So i expect to see most of the growth in the professional Business Service sector, and certainly that area. One quick explanation for people, it is qeerd that we see this. 5gdp growth and past 6 or o 7, First Quarter has been. 7. Strip that out in average 2. 7. 7 is too low the truth is around 2 a seasonal adjustment issue that make it is seem low in First Quarter. But i agree that with the adp number low, tax receipts being low, im not looking toward a great number. What isnt eent seasonal is an entire Economic Growth faster than 3 . And you can go go back to it was a horrible recession and we came out but you usually see a faster pickup in Economic Activity after such a downturn which we did not see this time. We havent seen any gain since the 1990s and its really something thattening is becoming more of a sector than a cyclical one and we have to see what happens in a long run. We have a number for last quarter as well we have to see for jobs. Go ahead. Dagen reason that is so important without productivity increases you dont have wage increases. Talked about month after month on this show that jobs are decent. Not great but decent but wages are flattening out for 7, 9 years. Ivelgt because you cant organically grow wages then politicians on left decide well were going to have 15 minimum wage that kills jobs. Right. Look and point is very correct. Theres no fairy dust important way is either with or more people or productivity and prefer thely both and were not getting more productivity right now. The reason were not is not because people arent working hard or not because theyre not hustling and thinking but because of policy hurdles and because businesses are not investing and Capital Expenditure are not expanding because businesses dont have confidences. They dont because taxes, washington, d. C. Is why donald j. Trump will be next president of the United States nip. That will be final words for now but crew is stucking around. If its lower than 202, its disappointing. I think theyre pricing in 200. Goldman laying people off and i think the market is expecting a number that comes in line with that. Dagen jack. Ill going lower because of adp and tax receipts and with j. P. Morgan. Dagen in terms of what the market has done is the good news priced in since the news in february . I think you can look at it the Glass Half Full way, a major selloff at the beginning of the year and rallied hard after that and people talked about earnings so bad. Earnings recessions. So earnings werent so bad. A lot of people beat expectations. Dagen the percentage beating is higher than the historical average. Lowered expectations, mind you, but you can argue that youre seeing the economy not falling off the cliff. Dagen you have five seconds to weigh in before we get the jobs. Forecasting 185 k broadly based off lower openings from previous months. Dagen were a few seconds away, wages 2. 3 was the wage growth that we had in the month of march, its a critical figure to watch and Labor Participation rate 63 in march we want more people participating in the labor force, right now we go to peter barnes at the Labor Department. 160,000 new nonfarm payroll jobs created last month, dagen. 160,000, much less than expected. The Unemployment Rate remaining at 5 . Job creation was revised slightly downward from february and march by 19,000 jobs, but the Silver Lining in this report is wage growth, which rose by 0. 3 in april and is up year over year by 2 1 2 . The labor force Participation Rate went down, however, last month 360,000 people left the work force in april the first time weve seen a drop in the size of the labor force since september, 2015. Then pushed the labor force Participation Rate back down to 62. 8 . Looking at sectors now, sectors that added jobs last month. Professional and Business Services once again, strong with 65,000 new jobs, education and health up 54,000, leisure and Hospitality Plus 22,000. Job creation was weak in mining and logging, which includes oil services, minus 8,000, construction adding just a thousand new jobs, manufacturing up by 4,000, retail dropped 3000 and government shed 11,000, dagen, back to you. Dagen thank you so much, peter, are you going to stay with us, hang out there, well have a lot more reaction there. Can we take a look at the futures to see what the reaction is in the market. Often a negative number, you still have losses across the board on the u. S. Futures and historically a negative number would mean that the Federal Reserve would remain on hold. Joni, this was almost a disappointment in almost every way other than the wage gains. The wage gains, even though its good, its not that its that robust, i think that it would make a difference. So as you really start to look at the numbers that peter just reported, this does not look to be a very positive report. Not only from the 160,000 jobs that were created, but im very concerned to see the labor force Participation Rate kick back down and to see that 360,000 people have decided to kind of give up on the work force. Thats concerning. Im not surprised by the lack of retail jobs, though i didnt expect it to be a negative number, i think it says, you know, just what we were talking about, the job creation is it in the professional and Business Service sector. And then certainly, the health care field, but only a thousand jobs in construction . Thats not good for our economy. Manufacturing being at 4,000 did pick up from where its been. But i dont expect to see numbers from there. Overall, know the best jobs report today. Dagen mike murphy, we see a little pick up on the selling here. Because of the adp report earlier this week, a disappointment on private sector job creation, at least as we were talking about, at least under the seemed to be factor then. This is a disappointment, a big disappointment. Lets see how the market reacts to this, a lot of the trading computerized on the headline number weaker than expected. Look at the financial sector, this will tell you what they deduce and the fed being data dependent will not raise rates soon. That could hit the financial sectors. I would expect after the market digests this for the market to lift up on this thing, hey, no fed rate hike, equalling good for the stock market. Dagen the average going into today not factoring in these revisions for the first three months, the average payroll growth was 209,000, so this is a pretty significant slowdown from where we see the job at. I just dont see a june job hike happening, weve got global slowdown now and things are slowing down here a little bit. Why would you change this trajectory now. Dagen talking about going into a president ial election year, how does that weigh on businesses willing to add jobs or a lack of willingness . Well, i think its really interesting, if you look at kind of past election years, how there has been a lot of turmoil going into certainly 2008, but also, going into george bush was first elected, were also concerned with the economy and the tough bubble. I think in terms of policy, i think this certainly the fed will likely is more likely to wait until later, but theres a growing concensus that, you know, we cant be overrelying on Monetary Policy to do all the work and to steves point we do need to look at the regulatory side of things as well. Its interesting right now that the Obama Labor Department is really thinking about raising the minimum requirements for overtime pay. When we think about, you know, when would be the best time for these types of regulations . Now is certainly, in my opinion, not a great time for that. Good point. So i think this may actually cause some rethinking, i think, within the Obama Administration as well. Dagen steve moore, a disappointment. 160,000 jobs. But the drop in Labor Participation rate, again, people are not part of this job market. There were 360,000 people who left the work force. What do you make of this . Put it into perspective. So, okay, we were for the last two years or so, dagen, we have been averaging between 200 and 250,000 jobs, with the revisions weve got 150,000 jobs. So, this gets to the point i made at the outset of this. Is the economy growing at 2 or 1 . I think its an indication that the economy is growing a lot slower than we hoped. Were at the 1 growth range, thats terrible and miserable. It means, you cant get much growth of wages or anything if the economys only growing at 1 . I think its a distress signal, quite frankly, and i think we do as steve said, we need some interventions that are going to juice growth. We need a tax policy and we need Regulatory Reform and meanwhile, youve got Hillary Clinton running arn the country saying shes going to destroy coal jobs. The question i guess i would ask the Obama Administration, where is the growth going to come from . Whats the juice thats going to provide the growth so we can get we shouldnt have 250,000 jobs, we should have 500,000 jobs and instead weve got 160. Dagen steve cortez. To your point, the fact that were hoping for 2 growth is pathetic. That mediocrity is beneath what is expected as an american. Thats right. We should have 3 or 4 growth not 2 at best. We have 4 growth, we have six, seven years under reagan. Youre exactly right. Right and we can get there again. Look, the American People are dynamic and innovative and hustling. The problem is washington d. C. , its regulation and taxes and we will get past this after november. Dagen im going to stay with you, steve cortez and this. Weve got between now and not just november, but january of next year where were entering this no mans land or no womans land, if you will, if youre a business. Is it going to get worse between now and then . Because you have an administration that increasin increasingly is imposing regulations, just rules out of the white house. John mentioned the overtime rule, but, again, how bad is it going to get . Because if it gets much worse, thats not a good sign for the democrat running. Right, no, dagen, i think unfortunately, im very longterm optimistic. I am nearterm pessimistic. I think its going to get worse before it gets better for the exact reasons that you cite. The Obama Administration is going to do nothing to help entrepreneurs, to help Small Businesses. Most of the jobs added, were not creating enough jobs, but jobs added are from Small Business. Unfortunately, Small Business is coming under the regulatory, you know, really morras that we find ourselves in this country now. So i think its going to get worse before its better. Thats unfortunate. For investors, be very cautious, businesses are simply not spending on cap x the way they should be in a recovery, theyre not given the policy hurdles coming out of washington d. C. Im confident that republicans, that trump wins in november and with a Republican Congress that we have serious regulatory and tax reform headed into 2017 and things get much rosier from there. Dagen i want to quickly point out, steve moore, that you had a law that ripped up the Health Care Industry that essentially encouraged smaller employers to use freelancers or parttime workers so they didnt have to provide them health insurance. How so many years later of in addition of obamacare, how in creation does that make any sense. It doesnt make sense. Do you know what a 49er is . Not talking San Francisco 49ers, it caps the work force at 49 workers. Were seeing that. If you look at Labor Department numbers on jobs, you see a lot of employers are who are 40 to 50, 40 to 49 workers are who are not going over the hurdle. One quick point about wages, we always talk about the average. When you report the wage numbers, dagen, those are average wages, that means people on wall street is making 10 million, but the average middle class the point im making, the difference between the average and the median. When we look at median salary numbers for the middle class were not seeing 2 1 2 growth, were seeing zero. Dagen and joni, i want to thank peter barnes, we had to let him go from the Labor Department, but joni, when you see people dropping out of the work force like this, is it permanent . Is it temporary, was it seasonal . Whats the cause of it . Again, this is a longterm problem. This is definitely a longterm problem. And its a combination of things. When you really start to dig into these numbers, you know, people say first, oh, its the baby boomers that are retiring, and that is a piece of it. When look at the different generations in the work force, but its also millennials. The Younger Generation has higher unemployment and its concerning that they are not motivated, also, to participating in the work force, but its because theyre having difficulty finding those jobs and on the other side of it, you do hear employers, theyre really trying to connect with millennials and they do want to recruit them. So we do have a little bit of a disconnect, but i have to say that in order to improve our job market, we do have to fix quite a few things and minimum wage is really going to hurt the job market if they enforce those rules, thats going to be a big concern. And then, you know, we still have obamacare, you know, thats impacting employers from a cost perspective, and there are so many things here that we need to find a way to stimulate the small to mid sized businesses that they have an ability to go out and hire and invest and build their businesses. Right now, they have too many road blocks and too many handcuffs that are holding them back from growing their business. Thats thats what my mother would do. Hold on a second. Id like to take a look at the dow futures. Lets look at treasuries because thats an indication of how people are concerned about this economy and the future of it. The twoyear treasury yield, which is the most sensitive to fed action at a threemonth low right now. The 10year yield touching a low. And 10year was 1 3 4 , 1. 75 , mike murphy, your reaction to that . I think that people are realizing were not seeing any sort of a rate hike and we talked about the overall economy. Were in this 1 to 2 growth range. As long as the Current Administration believes that the way to try to stimulate growth is to get government involved in businesses, its not going to get better. So, i think looking out to the election, any change to when we do have a new president in office, its going to help the business, its going to help the Business Community, its going to help people out there, its going to help the overall economy because any change from what we currently have is going to be good. More bad news for you, looks like the Household Survey was negative 360,000, thats quite disappointing, ive got to say. The only like glass, maybe quarter full thing im seeing here, longterm unemployed is 25 . Wow, down from 28. 7 , but thats not something to be too excited about. Dagen again, how does it shape out . Because this is a choice, jon, a choice between who do you think makes a better decision about your livelihood, your money and freedom . Who do you think makes a better decision, private business or the government . Weve seen more than seven years of a push for more government control and more government rules and regulations so basically drive peoples behavior and the behave among businesses have been not to hire. I personally dont want to be an optimist that whoever becomes president , maybe a lot of this kind of antigovernment rhetoric is just that, rhetoric. Now, for example, we look eight years ago when obama was running in 2008, he had nasty things to say about nafta, but years later hes one of the championing for free trade and my hope would be that the populace rhetoric of 2016 is just political and really, whoever takes the white house in november, that really, you know, there will be some rethinking with in new Economic Data and with this new outlook. Dagen thats the final word for now, everybody is sticking around. Stay with us, everybody. But again, just to recap, this jobs report is a disappointment with only 160,000 jobs added in this country. The Labor Participation rate is it was still below 63 headed in the wrong direction, wages ticked up a little bit growing at 2 1 2 year over year, but again, this is a major disappointment and youre seeing it in the stock market futures. Take control of your retirement today breaking news. U. S. Futures extending their losses. We have a 93 point loss on the dow futures right now after we found out that the u. S. Economy in this country added only 160,000 new jobs in the month of april. That was far less than the 202,000 expected. Unemployment rates fell 5 , but you had about 360,000 people who left the work force. Steve cortez, to you, i want to get your take on what the political fallout will be for this number for the month of april, but also in the month ahead as we move toward november . Dagen, look, i think this is bad news, okay . Its good news that we added some jobs, but we are too great a country to accept this kind of mediocrity, slow growth, slow job creation, more and more people dropping out of the work force. We have almost 50 million americans on food stamps, thats the entire west coast of the United States. So theres clearly a problem here and to me, the problem is washington d. C. , its regulation, its taxes. I think that donald trump is addressing both of those. Its one of the main reasons he is the republican nominee and i believe he will win in november and a lot of this is encouraged part of its a crisis of confidence. Theres a malaise in the country. Entrepreneurs, risk takers are willing to put themselves out and take risk largely because of policy. I think thats going to change and im nearterm pessimistic on the economy and longterm very, very optimistic. Dagen steve moore, how do you get optimistic on a market where you know theres going to be so much fighting again the two eventual president ial candidates and you have a white house thats not willing to just get out of the way in terms of letting businesses operate, you have more regulations coming out of the white house just in seven years than you did during two terms from bill clinton and president bush 43. Well, first of all, i agree entirely with what steve cortez just said. He was spot on right, its taxes, its regulations, its monetary policies. All of your wall street friends who think well get out of this by printing money, thats not going to work for seven years. Ladies and gentlemen, i think we have underestimated the negative impact of the obama tax increase from 2013 or so when we raised taxes on dividends, we raised taxes on capital gains, we raised taxes on Small Businesses and you know, as weve been talking about, the big factor thats suppressing growth right now is businesses are not invested. Why arent they investing . Well, because what id say to the white house, if you tax something, you get less of it. You increase taxes on investments and businesses are investing less. One other negative thing that i saw in the last couple of weeks, the National Federation of independent businesses which measures the optimism and pessimism of Small Businesses, Small Businesses are becoming more pessimistic, another negative sign. Dagen i always go to, steve cortez, from ronald reagan, im here from the government and im here to help. And Small Businesses to steves point, its pathetic, for the first time in American History we have more businesses closing than opening. A terrible milestone. Again, i believe that we will rebound away from that, but we need to elect republicans on both donald trump as president and Congress Republicans acting like conservatives and not the thats asking for a lot, steve. I know, but i believe. [laughter] i believe we can do it. Dagen jon hartley, leading up to the election, bad news on the economy is it definitively bad news for who the democratic nominee will be . I think this year is so different from past election cycles. You really have to kind of throw the whole data history out the window and start again. I think at the end of the day, i think policy is a very, very big part of this. To steves point, i think the payroll tax increase 2013, that was a payroll tax freeze on not just individuals, but a tax increase on poor individuals as well, but that impacted their spending a lot. Policy uncertainty, the fiscal cliff at the end of 2012, and how much of a policy disaster that was, but i also think we have to think about, too, what about the longer term trends, thats been going on for 15 years now, changes in demographics, some things that policy can fix, rather it be monetary or fiscal policy changes, but also the longer kind of secular trends that seem to be persisting and trickling down. Dagen thank you, john hartley, and to the two steves, steve cortez and steve moore, even though i have to shut you down going to break, but i love the energy and insight. Gentlemen, thank you so much. Final thoughts from mike, joni and jack after the break. Whl business, shes in the know. For me. Good luck, getting through the next two and a half minutes without crying after seeing my mom. Thank you to the hardest working people on the planet, those are our mothers. Final thoughts, joni, it was a disappointing jobs report. It was a disappointing jobs report. And i think that it certainly shows weakness even to look at that revisions number that went down by 19,000, so, unfortunate to see that as well. You know, wages, im glad to see that wages at least did tick up slightly and moved in the right direction. Id like to see a little bit more of wage growth in the future, but this is certainly a concerning report. The job growth is certainly in the professional and Business Service sector and in the Health Care Industry, but, you know, im surprised that construction wasnt stronger, retail being a negative 3,000, i think that really speaks to our dragging gdp right now. And retailers have been cutting back on hiring. So we do have some concerns here in this report. Maria mi. Dagen mike, again, a rush into treasuries, looking where the 10year has been all year, but youre looking at potentially the lowest 10year yield of the year. For sure, and talk of recession starts coming up and then talk of negative rates start coming up. Im going to look at this number today, dagen. Nothing positive that you can find here. If youre going to take one positive out of this, the fed, youre not going to see any move by the fed quickly or too quickly to raise rates, but i think if you look out and you want to look at the bull side of this, looking out six months from now when we have a president and hopefully a president that understands business and business reform, i think theres a lot of power underneath, underlying in this economy if you get Something Like tax reform. So i think thats leading up to mothers day, happy mothers day to my wife and my mom, but thats the Positive Side of it. Dagen thank you for saying that. Jack, final word to you. I agree completely with tax reform. Somebody mentioned Small Businesses, i think thats crucial because a lot of large businesses, yeah, 35 is what they call it, they dont pay 35 . Small businesses dont have those tricks, they do pay that rate. Dagen happy mothers day to jack, joni, stuart over to you. Stuart you can spin this any way you like, hard truth is, this economy isnting do that well, is it . This is not pretty. 160,000 jobs created last month and this is tied into the slowing economy. America is by no means working flatout. The Participation Rate all the way down to 62 , not good. Reaction, stocks down and interest rates, whoa, way down. Politics, the republican split over donald trump, the bushes, john mccain, mitt romney against him and speaker ryan cant support him yet, but unity negotiations have begun. Trump says this morning, remember, im the guy who brought millions to the Republican Party. No unity for democrats, hundreds of bernie supporters
