White house. And they determined that seven shots had been fired from a car four days after that incident dating back to 2011. And the secret service didnt inform the president until yesterday that an armed private Security Guard who is a multiple fell on was allowed into an elevator while armed with president obama at the centers for Disease Control during his visit there two weeks ago. To make matters worse, press secretary josh earnest today confirmed that pierson kept the cdc incident from the president until shortly before it was made public by the washington examiner. This latest incident has emerged. I think it happened prior to the fence jumping incident. The contractor who was armed in the presencest president in violation of secret service protocols, did director pierson direct the president on that incident . Jim, i can tell you that the white house first learned of that incident yesterday afternoon shortly before it was reported, before publicly reported by a news organization. Well be talking with the Judiciary Committee member on where the Embattled Agency goes from here. Also tonight, israels Prime Minister netanyahu at the white house today urging the president to show leadership on iran and to end the iranian pursuit of Nuclear Weapons. And president obama sounding much more supportive of israel than he did just a week ago at the u. N. General assembly. The violence engulfing the region today has made too many israelis ready to abandon the hard work of peace. And that is worthy of reflection. The status quo in weflt bank and gaza is not sustainable. We also recognize we have to find ways to change israel citizens are safe in their own homes. An important difference of emphasis. Former israeli ambassador to the United States joins us to discuss what appears to be a president ial aboutface on israel and radical islamist terrorists. Our first guest says its about time. Joining us, kohnman dalmer of texas. Congressman, good to have you with us. At long last, to many we found out what it takes to get fired by this president. Yeah, apparently putting the president s life at risk is just enough to get fired, finally. She is a symptom of the problem and she did need to go. It is about time she got fired or resigned. But keep in mind, lou, i mean i go up there. I talk to these secret Service Agents. Most of them are the same secret Service Agent whos performed admirably and loyal for all the years and done a stellar job. But when you put Political Correctness above all else, just like we have with the engagement with our military, getting our own military killed, then somebody comes across and thinking oh, my gosh if i let the dog go and it hurts this guy then i may lose my job because he had a meantal issue, never mind if he has a mental issue, maybe hes the kint of person that would kill the president . You go after him. You stop them at all cost. The Political Correctness is putting the president in jeopardy. It is getting military members killed. This is the heart of the problem and the same idea would stand 3,000 military into where they can get ebola if they can bring back. Theyre lying trying to go in al the people that want to kill us. The president s priorities are all mixed up here. All you have to do is shut down traffic in and out of it has to end. The reality here though, congressman, is all that you say may well be true. But the fact is that agents failed to impose themselves. Of course they did. And i dont think its sufficient if one director go although i applaud the president for so doing. What about the rest of the management of that agency . Thats where we need to get to the bottom of who has instilled this atmosphere of Political Correctness that keeps them from doing the job. Remember whether the couple barged into the Christmas Party and werent supposed to be there . Hearings and got to the bottom of that. It wasnt the speakers serve anlt. It was the fact that the social director that was supposed to be there and say yeah yes or no tells people she didnt want to tell anybody no so she didnt show up. The problem was not the secret service then. And the problem here are the political appointees that want to get involved in Political Correctness. We need to get back to an agency that protects the president and says forget Political Correctness. We dont care about that. We want to save the president s life. Well, we have also the agency, the Border Patrol not securing the border. We havent heard enforcement agents who are not permitted to do their job and that is enforce immigration laws. The list goes on and on and on. So congress sits there and complains, if i can put it that way, that there is precious little can you do, that any member of congress can do. We were given the power to correct all of this by the founders. It is called the power of the curse. You have to have courageous leadership that will stand up and say were not funding agencies that arent doing their job correctly. Were going to get them fixed. Were not using the power we have. Were just going along with another cr and another cr. And really thats got to stop. Youre not suggesting another disasterous shutdown of the government on part of the republican house, are you . Well, harry reid wanted a shutdown, he wouldnt agree to appoint negotiators two years ago. Seen he got what he wanted. And the conventional wisdom congressman, answer the simple question. You dont want that, do you . I dont want a shutdown. I didnt want one last time. But we do need maybe i asked the wrong question. You wouldnt seek a shutdown of the federal government again after the disaster that occurred twice now . No. And we did not seek one last time. We were passing bills right and left. So as a practical matter, would you set aside the idea of shutting down the government, how can you exert the will of congress to. You have a good idea of how they feel. So what is wrong with saying harry reid is funding everything you asked for except this is an issue that is 75 popular with america and not going to fund this area. Were going to fix this area. Heres Everything Else you want except we need to fit and then dare him, gives him everything he wants and then how would he refuse to go along with this 75 popular issue . I think we just dont exert enough influence that the founders intended for us to influence. Congressman, i would have i counterproposal but were out of time. I have to leave it with this alternative proposition for you to consider. I love our conversation. Thank you. When i win some elections, take over the senate and dont deal with reid and then you have, if you will, a little more organized expression of the popular will with control of both houses. Congressman, as always we can begin next year instead of december. Only one counterproposal to your proposal. Okay. Great to have you with us. Thank you, lou. The head of the Intelligence Community trying to clean up the damage after president obama blamed it for underestimating the Islamic State over this past weekend. Tahmooressi has been detained on gun charges in mexico for 185 days now without a single mention from our president. The president and Prime Minister netanyahu met today for the first time in seven months and joining us tonight from tel aviv, former israeli ambassador to the United States, daniel ialon. Thank you for staying up so late to talk to us. It seemed to me at least that the president is taking into account israeli interests and in the conflict with hamas to a greater extent than he previously expressed. Your view . Yes. Thank you. Always good to be with you notwithstanding the late hour here. I would say that probably that the atmosphere which was that in the wake of this president s speech at the u. N. Recognizing that first time that actually the obstacle for stability and peace in the middle east is not the problem of the conflict but rather that the quality that is built in the structural problems in the arab world. So by this, i think the Prime Minister is very much agreeing. Also, the fact that the p aplus 1. Narrator leadership of the United States are going to resume their geneva talks in about ten days allowed the Prime Minister also to raise the concerns with israel about iran. And, lou, always meetings between leaders is not just the personality. Its a meeting of interests and in the casest United States, the interests are very much intertwined. Almost identical despite some technical differences. The strategy and the overall world view is the same. But iran is different. And the fact that were not sure whether the result of the talks in geneva will be the complete dismantling of the iranian very dangerous infrastructure is very telling. Because extension is not enough. Today white house josh earnest blasted israel for reports that israel is moving ahead with the construction of more than 2500 settlers in east jerusalem. At this point, is there any way for this white house and the netanyahu government to come to some understanding on settlements, on ways to bridge what differences do exist and focus on the fact that both nations are threatened by radical islamist terror, that iranian and Nuclear Weapons would be a catastrophe for both nations and indeed the world . Well, this is very important. And the fact that there is too much world attention focused on the buildings in jerusalem which is the israeli capital and the building in jerusalem is for the welfare and the interest of other citizens. Both arab and jews. So any attention given them that on the extent of tension on iran or isis or others is quite unfortunate. Now to be fair to the Obama Administration, this is not the first difference that israel has with the United States on buildings. Now jerusalem is separate. This is what i think there is a misunderstanding over there. Building in jerusalem is not like building in any other place in the west bank or in a different area. But also what is the most important point is that theyre extending more is that the crux of the conflict between israel and the palestinians is not the building. The building is something which is reversal. We have dismantled settlements in gaza, all of them. We offered so many other concessions. There was a freeze by nine months by Prime Minister netanyahu. This is not the issue. The issue is still the palestinians refusal to recognize israels right to exist. Ambassador, always good to talk with you. Again, thank you for staying up so late to do so. We appreciate it. Good to talk with you. Thank you. Time now for a look at our online poll results. So will there be an obama democratic or october surprise . The dems desperately need one. Judging by previous Election Years, dont bet a lot of money on a major news event rocking the midterm. No, if i were a betting man, i would go with a october filled with more obama denials, stonewalling and blaming of others. And, of course, more deflection and distraction. Back in 2010, the administration and democrats and Congress Face voters deeply distressed by Economic Hardship and pain. So white house officials asked the failing solar Injury Company they have funded to delay the announcement of impending layoffs until after the election. The president s 2012 Reelection Campaign bogged down by a disastrous Economic Performance was built on his declaration he had al qaeda on the run. So the ben ben terrorist attacks and murders were met with adamant assertion by the white house that completely denied al qaedas involvement. Instead, in the month or so ago before the president ial election, president obama vigorously blamed the Youtube Video for those attacks. That is what we saw play out in the last two weeks. The crude and disgusting video sparked outrage. I made it clear that the United States government had nothing to do with this video. I believe its message must be rejected by all who respect our military. He is defending the United States. This year the administration clearly has the mid terms in mind. Listen to the president earlier last month trying to explain why he is holding off on what he calls Immigration Reform or amnesty until after election day. I want to make sure we get it right. It looks like Election Year politics. Not only do i want to make sure that the ts are crossed and is dotted, im being honest about the policy threat. This problem with the children that we saw a couple weeks ago where you have from Central America a surge of kids showing up at the border got a lot of attention. Its not politics. But it is also perhaps part of the reason why he is give Refugee Status to the children who created the border crisis, or he recicreated, his administ did and the children from Central American crisis and they have Refugee Status now. So not only will they get to stay here, they can bring their parents and family into the United States. So its not just about amnesty. And he wont be calling congress in all likelihood back to vote to authorize the use of force in syria any time either. But, of course, as the saying goes, past performance is no guarantee a future result. Today, mr. Obama did exactly the right thing. And he fired secret Service DirectorJulia Pierson for the agencys never ending and worsening screwups. A firing that i called for on this broadcast yesterday. Todays firing is the october surprise. And it is a welcomed surprise for all americans. Do you see the Democrats Holding the senate . No. You know, lou, i know youre a betting man. If i had to bet right now, id say that republicans have the advantage and according to the recent models and the political strategists, republicans are feeling more confident right now. Its not by a lot though. Let me not, you know, give you any misinterpretation. This is not a wave for the republicans. Its what we thought we might be having. It looked like it will be close. But right now all the indicators are among likely voters that republicans have a slight edge. When you expand it through registered voters, its still a tossup which is why i say it is you may end up with a 51, 52 republicans. That would serve i think for most folks as a victory. It may not be a way. But it would sure be a real nice tip and nod, tip of the hat and nod to a change of direction in washington. You know, the question is are we better off which the president asked himself on 60 minutes and he wasnt getting other interesting questions from city leaders apparently. The answer isnt quite suitable for him, is it . It really goes to the point that people still only a third feel that theyre better off now in those polls since he took office. I mean, this president basically acknowledged his leadership is not strong and persist and the and powerful enough and positive enough to turn what is i think a malaise in this land around. Theres no question that people are in glum in term of the economy. Right now the polls are about 55 disapproval. 40 by 40 approved. But let me just say, lou, when you look at the numbers, i want you to help me. Youre the business expert. Yes, i am. The thing to me, it is pretty favorable to the president. If you look at the jobs numbers. You know, we had unemployment this low in seven years. You look at the housing numbers. Up 17 . You look at, i mean, its at economic recovery is slow. But it is less than a very long time and according to all indicators, it is gaining steam. A couple things on the numbers that you mention. Investors are middle class and watching the values of their homes and returns to levels that would be significant to their net worth. In terms of unemployment still 20 million americans who were underemployed, unemployed or giving up hopes of being employed. One in five americans unemployed long term unemployed. The reality is that the economy is not creating jobs at the rate that it needs to. 141,000 in the previous month. Were going to know friday a little more about that possibly. People are expecting significant things. Well see what happens. So thats i think why large measure youre seeing some his tency to embrace the obama recovery. On the other hand though, what strikes me and when you ask people but on the other hand, its a very nice thing of you to do. Im in the political game, lou. I dont have any pretension of being educated. This is about emotions and feelings. Thats why this is so interesting to me. If you ask people about Consumer Confidence, the Consumer Confidence is right now pretty high. Theyre an important part of our economy. Yeah. It is interesting the ways in which compliment is expressed or one of the ways we tackle expenditures and the business community, Capital Investment it is lagging. That creates jobs. Jobs then create prosperity. The middle class is getting the hell beat out of it by a huge set of factors. Amongst them, a lack of leadership in washington, d. C. , and the business community. Juan, great to see you. Thanks so much. Enjoy the diversion, die gregs into business and economics. That is the last hope for the democrats, buddy. I think some might say one might only hope. Up next, thanks so much for with us. Up next, a beheading in oklahoma treated differently than a beheading in the middle east. You may have noticed that. We have Attorneys Join us to talk about this contrast in interpretation. Here next. Your customers, our financing. Your aspirations, our analytics. Your goals, our technology. Introducing synchrony financial, bringing new meaning to the word partnership. Banking. Loyalty. Analytics. Synchrony financial. Enagage with us. Joining us now, monica lindstrom, practicing attorney who got letter start as a criminal prosecutor. Good to he see you. And author of the book, a deadly business, great to see you. Monica, lets begin with you. The oklahoma beheading, is it really important whether or not we consider that an act of terrorism or a workplace a workplace crime . What is the impact and how important is it . Well, i think it really depends on what the goals are. If the goal is to put this killer behind bars to protect the public, then lets do it the easiest way we know how. And if the Oklahoma State statutes can do that, given the death penalty, then that goal is being met. I think if we turn around and we focus on calling it a terrorism act, i think that is very scary to the american public. Really . That doesnt give them a sense of security. When we think of terrorism, we think of it happening far away. That is kind of scary. Monica, that is the whole thing about terrorism. It is xiry. Thats why we have domestic terrorism statutes. You talk about the patriot act or oklahoma statute, you talk about someone going in and killing other people to terrorize other civilians, i think it meets the case here. The fact that its not a prosecutor at least not now being prosecuted as a domestic terrorism case, its troubling to me in the context of the ft. Hood massacre. Remember that 39 people were killed and that was not prosecuted as a terrorism act. This guy has on his face, i hate to be using face but it is true, Osama Bin Laden and beheadings and during the beheading that he carried through, he is carrying out islamic phrases and yelling things and hes trying to convert people at work that his wife got in trouble in the first place at work. So why do we need to call it terrorism . I mean why do we . The goal is why dont we call it Workplace Violence . Thats an absurdity. The man has been radicalized. One of them has connections to the 20th hijacker on september 11th. I mean this is extraordinary stuff. You said its scary. I think thats an interesting thing to consider. Right. When the hell did we decide that American People are so immature and irresponsible that they cant be frightened and overcome that fear . Never. I dont understand why that is eastbound a pretext. Well, because we need to be concerned about how we feel as americans. And thats one thing that the prosecutors need to be concerned about as well. They need to make sure that americans feel safe in their homes and so when youre looking at prosecuting a case, you need to think about should we go down this road or this road . Way want to be safe in our home. Why not secure the borders. Why in the world would we continue this . Amen. If were going to do this, look at racial profiling. Here is an outgoing attorney general who decides is going to end racial profiling. Now . Now. Not even just talking about racial profiling, saying you cant go into a mosque. You cant do these investigations, you cant do many things that are legal now to do. Because you heard a rumor that radical islamist terrorists are islamic. Really . Amazing, huh . News flash. Only the sixth yearst presidency of barack obama. Well have a new attorney general. That may change things. Right now, looks like he is trying tsmantle things that are already in place. Let me ask you this, monica. There is a sect of islam that is the most radical. I dont know that most people realize that in this country up to 80 of the mosques are owned, operated and led by wohabis. If they cannot be investigated, surveyed because they happen to be racially profiled, ethnically profiled, what are we thinking about as a people . I think to come out and say that were going to end racial profiling isnt really reality. Law enforcement actually uses that as a tool. Its not necessarily a bad thing. If history shows us anything, it can be very good at times. So to just have a broad stroke and say were getting rid of it all, it doesnt make sense. Its not reality. At least you get the last 15 seconds. I completely agree with monica. It does not make sense at all. There is what i love. Lawyers create harmony and peace. Thank you. Ladies, thank you. Texas Health Officials tonight monitoring 18 people for ebola including five children. After they came in contact with the first patient diagnosed in this country. The patient is the identified as thomas eric duncan. He was sent home from a hospital for two days despite telling a nurse he traveled from liberia. For more now on this first ebola case in our country, im joined by one of the nations top Infectious Disease experts, he is dr. Anthony fouchy, director of the National Institute of allergy and diseases. He is importantly leading the quest to discover and prove an infective vaccine against ebola. Good to have you with us. Good to be with you. There is great discussion, certainly in the media and among some Office Holders and local state and federal levels about how serious the prospect are, how likely the prospect are about outbreak of the result of a contain john that would end this first patient. Your thoughts . It is extraordinarily unlikely that there will be an outbreak and im very confident as is the cdc that they will not be an outbreak. The patient indeed, as you mentioned, was in the community for a couple of days, for a few days with fever before he was finally recognized having ebola and put in the prosecute isolation. He is being cared for right now in a hospital in texas. But the important reason why there will not be an outbreak is we have capability of dolg what is contact tracing. Contact tracing is to the core of preventing an outbreak. So what do you do to identify and monitor people that have come into contact with this patient during the time the patient was symptomatic . And you follow them and monitor them for temperature and symptoms for a total of 21 days. If they go beyond 21 days without any symptoms, theyre home free. If they develop symptoms, then you isolate them and make sure they do or do not have ebola. If they do, you obviously take care of them in the same way that we were taking care plaintiff duncan. The name of the patient, the exact circumstances under which he came into this country. There was no disclosure. There was a behavior part and some at the centers for Disease Control. Im not going to name names, acting as though this were a nation of children rather than a nation of citizens who deserve to know whats going on. The public is right to know. I think that should be honored in all cases, at all times. Dont you . Actually, lou, i agree with you a little bit on that. I can understand why youre saying that. But there is something called patient confidentiality that really is important. If the patient wants to reveal who he is, what his name is, then thats fine. But there is a code of patient confidentiality i understand that. Its all requirements. The fact of the matter is the public would like to know. They have to take precedence of a national emergency. And this has the potential, as you suggest, highly unlikely. But with that potential, there is a responsibility on all who are paid by our federal government to tell us the citizenry exactly what is going on. And we know the distrust compounds itself when that publics right to know is violated. Thats why im so insistent on it. Im not talking about merchandise or science, but im saying our government class has become so air gabt. Frankly, so disappointing in the performance that American People deserve particularly now even more information, dont you think . Well, i think that the information that the American People deserve is information that will directly keep them safe and prevent them from getting into trouble with Something Like ebola. And, again, i am always uncomfortable when i disagree with you, lou, but i tell you i dont see anything egregiously held back that would have important impact. So i have to say i dont think the cdc was wrong in this. Okay. We have to disagree on that. And like you, im just every bit as uncomfortable whether i have to disagree with you, dr. Fouchy. Dr. Anthony fouchy leading that effort and were coming right back. Up next, the white house says there is a shortage of qualified americans to fill science, technology and engineering jobs. Workers in those fields o ko see press further wage growth for americans. Joining us now is michael titlebam. Research analyst from harvard law school, also the author of the book falling behind. Lets start with is there or is there not a shortage of skilled workers in this country, all of the people from Silicon Valley are urging more. A lot of people looked for evidence of shortages, nobodys been able to find it except for some people who have been financed by the industry. Imagine that. And the average wage of employees in these areas is relatively stagnant as they have over the first of the past decade gone a little longer than that. Yes, its been flat for 15 years in these fields and thats not everybody but the average. Sure. And fallen behind other profession thats require a lot of education like physicians, lawyers, those kind of professions. And so what are we to make of it in terms of what is appropriate Public Policy . Because weve got, you know, those screaming about imbrags reform and we see millions more basically unskilled, uneducated or at least lesser educated folks that come into this country. What do you make of it . I think people with Higher Education and skills will do better as immigrants than people with low skill levels. So i suppose thats a positive. But it would have effects on u. S. Workers in these fields if it wasnt properly regulated. If you just expand the current kinds of visa thats are available and dont put proper legislation in place to enforce things, it will have negative effects. What is the impact in your view then if we were to see because you never know where john boehner is going to go. The reality is he talks one way, acts another and we dont know which way what the results will be. But if we were to pass amnesty, bring in, you know, give amnesty the five million visas as the president promises to do, what is the effect . The amnesty, these people are already working here. The infect on the economy would probably be for their wages to go up. Thats a good thing. Thats a good thing. And they would be less vulnerable to employers who mistreat them and dont pay them and things like that. But it would send a signal that to others that they should think about coming also because once you have a second amnesty after a first, the message is pretty clear. Yeah. And so what is your thought in terms of Public Policy here . What is the United States to do . What would you Council Republicans and democrats acting solely in the interest of the nation to do . On the unskilled or high skilled . On all of it. Well, amnesties four Million People in this country every year right now. Illegalizations are a very mixed bag. You have to be very careful what signals you send. So i would be very careful about legalization. But when it comes to can i say something. Lets forget the signals and the nuance. Lets just tell those eagerly awaiting legislators of ours and president what they should do. I dont think you want to have a mass legalization. All right. And . And on the high skilled, it would be better to increase the number of permanent visas for high skilled workers but not increase the number of temporary visas. Those are the ones that really put pressure on workforce. Should there be a Guest Worker Program . What is it, right at i think 18 or 19 of them in various shades that theyve got already. Right . Yes. And if you look at the Guest Worker Programs that were tried in europe and ask people who are around at that time, universal support but nobody agrees they supported it anymore. Because it doesnt work. It hasnt worked out quite so well. I hope you come back and tonight on war stories investigates we awoke to this war on 9 11.
