Among those republicans, kelly ayotte who says the extension should be paid for by not allowing Illegal Immigrants to defraud the federal government by claiming what is called the additional child tax credit. The joint Tax Committee has estimated that we can save close to 20 billion over 10 years by fixing this in our tax code. And so in addition to this issue, we can also pay for the Unemployment Insurance in the threemonth extension that is on the floor right now. Lou majority leader harry reid slammed the proposal, saying that we could pay for jobless benefits by delaying the obamacare individual mandate. So far all we have heard from republicans is this. Take a big whack out of obamacare. Were they have another one. Go after children with the child tax credit. The Senate Majority leader meant adults who defraud the federal government fraudulently claiming that those tax credits or likeness. There is still no word on how senator harry reid would move forward or whether he would allow votes on those amendments. And governor Chris Christie has a political crisis tonight exploding in new jersey. You emails have emerged showing Chris Christie staff engaged in a shocking case of petty political retribution which governor Chris Christie had denied on a number of occasions. Its not going to be about appealing to certain groups that havent historically been too fond with the Republican Party. We are going to do what we think is best for the country. So if they want to memorialize it and put it in writing,. Lou there is a public enthusiasm and the republican congress, for succeeding in actually taking the lead on resolving the issue of immigration in this country. The president couldnt do it and the house is now having about and having succeeded at doing so. We are all very encouraged, as you would expect with any big group. There is still a debate within the republican conference on a path to citizenship versus legal status. Theres a debate on what the background check should look like. I would prefer a tougher background check. But what happened, and this is what else is important. Six months ago everyone in the world was telling john boehner do you have to bring the senate bill to the Florida House and if you dont they are going to run you out of town. Now only the New York Times still like the senate bill and you dont hear anyone talking about this, including people who helped coauthored senate bill. Lou you are of course exactly correct. One of the leading lobbyists and the highest paid and most effective individuals is routing around all over capitol hill trying to get amnesty done. Do you think you wont succeed in convincing the house leadership to create amnesty and embrace in an underhanded way of the capitals pillars, a deal that approximates the g8 proposal . Would you be willing to extend Unemployment Insurance for about a million and a half americans who are about to lose the insurance, given the dreadful performance of this administration and creating jobs and getting this economy going again . My friend john thune said that it was the 13 13th time that we have extended the temporary Unemployment Benefits system. We were wondering at what point do you just when you accept and appreciate the fact that treating the symptoms isnt working and you have to address the underlying pathology. We pass this skills act, which will retrain workers who can get a vote in the senate. I have no interest in punishing those because this president cant find it. But by the same token, even some liberal economist can see that after a wild, you have to stop it. And its been more than a while. So we are going to need to pay for this and im going to need some idea that we are going to reform this and its not going to become an entitlement program. Because we cant afford the other four that we have right now. Its difficult to keep the illusion and those economists will be running for election in november. You get the last word here.
