The wsj office is foreshadowing the distinct possibility more or perhaps all of the people sitting on the council would get up and flee the oped writing a g. O. P. President who loses the Business Class has a big problem problem. These developments come as the administrations desperately tries to change the topic. Could anything else in this our attorney general Jeff Sessions is scheduled to speak in miami about cutting federal funding for sanctuary cities. We are going to listen live. We are standing in miami to speak exclusively with the ceo of the Worlds LargestCarnival Cruise line and that is Arnold Donald. He is here only on fox business. Are all these executives rushing to fly out of President Trumps orbit is it no longer Business Priorities or is it this ceo hurting their company . Do you also asked him about the sanctuary city in which he has listed in the past that following federal rules plus nafta negotiations day one not just farmers but Silicon Valley now hoping to bellyup to the trade trough discussions. Jeff locke on how big tech and agriculture now have a lot more in common than they used to and the president now praising north Korean Leader kim jong and are backing away from bombing guam or leasing you will. Gary seymore can team trump get them back in their chairs to stop the Nuclear Threats . We will ask him. No silence on wall street. The markets are up 32 points for the Dow Jones Industrials and s p and nasdaq following after the presence moved and the fed committed to gradual rate hikes and could start unwinding the gigantic balance she regularly soon. Signs the economy may be getting healthier. We are less than an hour from that closing bell. Lets start the countdown. Yes i would say things are anything but dull on this office wednesday. The dow was only 50 points away from another record close when a barrage of breaking headlines exploded earlier this afternoon slashing as much a 63 points from the bluechip index over the next 45 minutes. The session has been up 86 and now we are up 83. The dow started owing around 12 45 p. M. Eastern on the news that ceos of campbells soup and 3m minnesota manufacturing were resigning from trumps Manufacturing Council. That was followed by report that a separate group of Business Leaders top, top names the present strategy and policy forum would disband because they were about to cut, what do you call it, fish, a . Then came the big hit to the dow at 1 15 p. M. , stocks bottomed after the president tweeted that he was dissolving both the Manufacturing Council in the strategy and policy forum. Stocks had a quite a when the fed showed for the recent meeting that fed officials are actually split over the timing of the Interest Rate hike which in essence means maybe they wont do anything so the s p as you can see climbing back up just around 2 00, fell again. That might be the jpmorgan news of jamie dimon that we will get to but now you see the major indices holding onto the green but not as firmly and with as much muscle as they were earlier. To the fallout and fury that continues over the president s response to the violent protests in Charlottesville Virginia over the weekend. Breaking moments ago Jpmorgan ChaseCeo Jamie Dimon highly respected in the world of leadership has issued a statement expressing his dissatisfaction to the presence response. Here is what he says. Quote i strongly disagree with President Trumps reaction to the events that took place in charlottesville. Racism and intolerance and violence are always wrong. Equal treatment of all people is one of our nations bedrock principles. This as President Trump has made some say was forced to make the stunning decision to completely disband the Business Council after ceo started quitting but that started happening two years ago. Like you are an in trump tower. Yesterday when we spoke to you you he said no doubt they had to be chatter among the administration that word overnight came a lot of them would quit today. Was the president s move defense defense . It looks to a lot of market watchers that it was. Will look you had a different ceos that dropped out over the last few days. Ken frazier started the charge on monday and at that point after more ceos are topping out the presence sent out its weak saying hey look at these folks want to leave i will able to get more to come into the fold. That was his contention and then there was this press conference yesterday in which he was asked about it and he said they are leaving out the embarrassment. Those are his words because theyre moving products overseas. The president seems confident that he can keep this thing together but today a dramatic reversal and here was his response to all of this. He said quote rather than putting pressure on the Business People and the Manufacturing Council in strategy and policy forum i am ending both, thank you all suggesting there that he must provide the cover. You just read part of the statement from jamie dimon in which he said hey luck we came to this. We agreed to disband. He was part of the strategy and policy Forum Diamond saying it was their decision so you have two different storylines as to how this came together. No doubt about it liz is the report started to merge that the policy form would be disbanding of the present tweeting today that he decided to do it. Either way you have democrats counting on this. Moments ago the Democratic National committee put out this statement and i quote here they say these councils disbanded because of trumps failure to lead and the public pressure that followed for american businesses and ceos in association with trump has become toxic or many reasons. There are two different groups here liz one in manufacturing in a widespread group of top minded ceos. These were folks that were within the halls of the white house in the early days of the administration and now these groups liz are no more. Liz the wall street journal shop in the ceos said they arent necessarily and the c suites so the journal says when you lose business youve got a problem like thank you very very much and i wanted to thank show you this the front page of the New York Post which endorsed President Trump for president. It says they werent all nazis quoting what President Trump said yesterday during a News Conference which probably pushed it appears many ceos to decide they were about to quit those panels. Is it a good move for businesses to give up access to the white house . Cruise line president and ceo aaron donald joins us as a business exclusive. Thank you for joining us. You are not on any of these panels and by the way your stock is close to closing a new i believe year over year high . At a 52 week high. Congratulations on that. Thank you very much. Liz youve have some real gains with their Company Without going into the oval office. What do you make of these decisions of ceos who have left . Some people say its that old seat at the table argument where least you can get your word through when you are off these panels or its not just a moral compass that you have to get off because your customers dont like it. I think first of all you have to applaud anyone that takes a stand against expressions of hatred, a divisiveness so anybody that does that you know i complement them. Having said that there are many ways to have your voice heard. Certainly the councils are a way but all of these companies have other ways of making certain we are heard as well. We are showing on the screen President Trumps Manufacturing Council and all those that decided to leave under armour ceo merck. Johnson johnson possibly is the schwartzman of blackstone who were about to say we are out out. I do need to ask an important question here. I know you are not on any of these panels but if you were on one before this weekend and therefore what the president said afterward would you have stepped down . What i can tell you is this. Im not on the table or any of the councils. I dont like dealing in hypotheticals for obvious reasons. Im not fully up to speed on these discussions but what i can say clearly, i was born in new orleans and i grew up during a time of segregation. A lot of people sacrifice their lives for me to have the opportunities i have and all i can say is personally and as an american citizen i think its really important that we all support people who dont shy away from hatred and divisiveness and really try to pull us all together and Work Together. I think the president when he said the things he said i believe it was on sunday, where he spoke up against hatred and bespoke up against divisiveness, he was on the right track and thats where we all need to be. We need to pull together and Work Together to have america be all it can be. Liz we also have attorney general Jeff Sessions was about to speak in miami where you are about the fact that miami has now said we will not harbor Illegal Immigrants accused of crimes are convicted of crimes because we want the federal funding. The president has said in an executive five days after he was inaugurated the socalled sanctuary cities who harbor these people will get federal funding cut off. Where do you stand on that because i am sure Carnival Cruise has a lot of foreign workers. You follow every rule to the tee but how do you feel about miami making that decision on the other side of the argument, which i just dont get. You cant let Immigration Police jump in on these people because they wont report crimes. They will sit silent. Look, again everybody wants america to be safe and we all want everyone in america to respect the laws of our nation. So if anyone has violated or committed a crime we have just the systems that deal with that. We do have a Balance System in our society checks and balances which we have seen were continuously and Justice Systemd everything should flow through the appropriate systems and as they do i think the right outcomes will happen. One thing about travel liz is we bring people together. We help people discover whats common amongst them and what they can celebrate what is common and more importantly they can celebrate their differences so they appreciate the differences. Liz. Liz your bookings are reflecting people just want to sail away from so much of this divisiveness that this journal oped i dont know if you read it ins the Business Class has a big problem. Has he lost the businessclass . I have no idea whether the president has lost the businessclass. Liz has he lost you . Today hes the president of the United States and we all need to find ways to Work Together to help for america. Anybody can make mistakes and take missteps and thats for anyone. We need to learn to Work Together to focus on how to bring us together and how to have america succeed. We are having a tremendous two years and the cruise industry and carnival in particular and we would like to see the entire economy continued to do well. Liz i dont i know you dont like hypotheticals but if he called itamar said as he does sit on the new panel would you . I would have to say what is it and what is the benefit to america and if i saw a real benefit we could really have a positive impact and make up positive difference id have to consider it. Liz Arnold Donald good to see you carterville ceo looking at an annual high. The stock is on fire. Good to see you sir sir, thanks so much the closing bell is bringing in 47 minutes. This is one of the easily the most hotly contested topics in washington at this very moment not just the ceo but attorney general Jeff Sessions who is speaking right now in miami about cutting federal funding for sanctuary cities. Straight ahead our allstar panel breaks down how much dollar for dollar cities from new york to chicago stay in toulouse if they fail to comply with federal law. We are coming right back. The dow is up 20 points and the s p up today, were out here with some big news about type 2 diabetes. You have type 2 diabetes, right . Yes. So let me ask you this. How does diabetes affect your heart . It doesnt, does it . Actually, it does. Type 2 diabetes can make you twice as likely to die from a cardiovascular event, like a heart attack or stroke. And with Heart Disease, your risk is even higher. You didnt know that. No. Yeah. But, wait, theres good news for adults who have type 2 diabetes and Heart Disease. Got you outnumbered. Dont listen to them. Not appropriate. Now im mashing these potatoes with my stick of butter. Why dont you sit over here. Liz breaking News Attorney general Jeff Sessions praising of miamidade community along with carl hammond has for complying with President Trumps order to crack down on illegal immigration by refusing to fund sanctuary cities. Miami is backed away from being a sanctuary city and we just heard Jeff Sessions a quote miami showing dedication to the rule of law. Its just about five days after the presence of knockers at the president issued an executive order denying federal grants to cities who choose not to comply with federal laws regarding deportation and Illegal Immigrants but the one thing that might have been left out of the News Conference although its still going on is the cities. What do all six of the cities recognizable with their sidelines have in common . They ignore mr. Trumps policies but if they continue to there will be a high financial cost, 27 billion snatched away from them and federal grants. A defiant attacks and open books. Com has put a number on it, 27 billion which amounts to approximately 500 for every man, woman and child in the cities. Add them crunched the numbers to the dollar how much would sanctuary cities lose if they didnt comply. A nonprofit dedicated to keeping Big Government transparent and accountable and immigration sanctuary cities were at attorney christopher lasch. Im going to start with you. You are hearing what Jeff Sessions is saying that he is rewarding miamidade think we will continue to give you federal grants because you are complying with the rule of law. Where do you stand on this . What we heard from attorney general sessions is what we have heard from him time and again when he speaks on the subject of sanctuary cities and one of his two drumbeats is always about the rule of law but what the attorney general misses is that a lot of sanctuary cities are doing what they are doing in order to comply specifically to comply with the Fourth Amendment to the constitution. Miamidade changed its policy in december of 2013 and it was in the vanguard of cities that decided to stop honoring what are called detainer requests, requests to detain people for federal immigration officials. Just months after miamidade changed its policy the first ring of federal Court Decisions came down. That string has continued to this year with federal courts recently in washington, california, texas, the state Supreme Court in massachusetts has recognized their serious Fourth Amendment concerns. Liz before we get to adam what rights do you feel christopher that immigrants who enter this country illegally and may have committed a crime actually committed, not alleged that committed what right do you feel they have . Well the question here is how they respond to the attorney attorney general. Liz bet is my question. They dont have the full panoply of rights under the constitution. Liz okay lets just get to adam for a second and then i will get back to that. Adam you crunch these numbers and came down to 500 for every man woman and child in a sanctuary city. Who will get the most money yanked away . Thank you very much for your interest in our work and thanks for having me on the program. This was a difficult number to come up with so in january when the president outlined his funding from selfdescribed sanctuary cities he first had to determine how many there are and the determined theres 106 that violate this federal law which is basically when you have a quote alien in custody the Justice Department language on this and you dont report that to federal authorities so we took a look at the agencies that receive federal dollars both directly and bypass their money through to the state state capi. Theres 1000 dirty receiving agencies and entities and they soaked up in the last fiscal year of 2016 nearly 27 billion so its a lot of money. Liz there are a lot of counties not just in the states for california obviously has the most. Interestingly enough it has some counties in it. This is where Vice President pence was the governor but this is quite the carrot or the stick that the federal government is holding. Do you suspect that some of the sanctuary cities will give them especially new york or example which needs federal grants for a lot of security here. We are a target here in manhattan for terrorists. Out of per person basis in new york city there are 900 percapita per man, woman and child at risk and for instance in the city of chicago this is why you have seen the lawsuit from rahm emanuel the mayor of theres 5. 3 billion in federal money in total every single year at risk in the city of chicago. The lawsuits in chicago is on the police grant. Theres only 2. 3 million of federal Police Grants in the city of chicago and to put that in perspective the city of chicago payroll is over a billion dollars per year and last year the City Department so mismanaged they spent 143 million on overtime. His officer counts down 1000 his tenure. With the amount of overtime they could have hired a thousand officers. Liz let me get back to chris. Chris, if you pull someone over who ends up being an undocumented worker and who has committed a crime, why do they deserve anything . I think its, im with a lot of people who say its especially nice to this country to simply deport them. Well attorney general sessions today made a nod to Community Policing and that has actually been one of the prime motivators as to why cities have gone in this direction. They have determined like miamidade did in december of 2013 that when you have immigration for don to the backend of your criminal Justice System it creates a corrupting influence to route your criminal Justice System and encourages racial profiling on the front and on the street level. It also deters people from reporting crimes as a number of studies have shown. Here in denver the Crime Reporting among the latino population is down 10 . Liz we have got to run that we think is the view for presenting both sides. Adam anderson at skate and ceo of open the books and chris immigration attorney, associate professor. We do have about 35 minutes before the closing bell rings. The dow was up 30. But at home. She thinks shes the boss. She only had me by one grade. We bought our first home together in 2010. His family had used another insurance product but i was like well ive had usaa for a while, why dont we call and check the rates . It was an instant savings and i shouldve changed a long time ago. Along with support, Chantix Varenicline is proven to help people quit smoking. Chantix reduced my urge to smoke. When you try to quit smoking, with or without chantix, you may have nicotine withdrawal symptoms. Some people had changes in behavior or thinking, aggression, hostility, agitation, depressed mood or suicidal thoughts or actions with chantix. Serious side effects may include seizures, new or worse heart or blood vessel problems, sleepwalking or allergic and skin reactions which can be lifethreatening. Stop chantix and get help right away if you have any of these. Tell your Healthcare Provider if youve had depression or other Mental Health problems. Decrease alcohol use while taking chantix. Use caution when driving or operating machinery. The most common side effect is nausea. I dont even think about cigarettes anymore. Ask your doctor if chantix is right for you. Many insurance plans cover chantix for a low or 0 copay. We believe that the ongoing economic and diplomatic pressure is being brought to bear by our allies in the region resulting in what we believe represent glimmers of hope that we can achieve by peaceful means that rich nations around the world sought in the Korean Peninsula now for decades. Liz by peaceful means Vice President mike pence putting the stamp on it saying maybe there is this opportunity to negotiate some kind of shut down or at least freezing of north koreas missile and Nuclear Weapons plan. He also said during his press conference on the screen earlier in santiago that quote all options are still on the table when it comes to north korea through this follows a change of tone from President Trump today as he seemingly praised north korea from backing away from its outward threats against guam which is of course a u. S. Territory. They said they would put a ring of fire around him last rockets at it that the u. S. Can expect tensions to rise or fall in the coming weeks. Experts reveal this is the typical ploy of north korea to rapidly make all kinds of threats, escalate and then back away into nothing. Should we expect another cycle to start next week or perhaps even sooner . This comes as the u. S. Revealed north korea is now producing its own rocket engines and they no longer have to rely on foreign imports because they have figured out how to do it by ripping off technology. Is this a sign that nation is prepared and continues to prepare for for potential were . Joining me on the fox business exclusivism and when the secretary of defense medal for Meritorious Civilian Service for his role in negotiating the 1994 north Korea Nuclear agreement and that agreement was successful in freezing for more than five years that Nuclear Program. Again they started shooting after that but how did you get them to do that . Well is really a question of quid pro quo. In exchange for limiting their Nuclear Program or freezing it as you said they were provided with Energy Assistance and the agreement called for them to eventually receive Nuclear Power and exchange for completely scrapping their Nuclear Weapons program. We never reach that point because as you say the North Koreans cheated on the agreement and a collapsed during the bush of administration. Liz what can President Trump expect to see in the future . Is there a table such as the one that we are looking at where somebody could said across from kim jongun and talk some sense into him and i would like to know how successful the president has been because mr. Trump was the one who came out recently and said fire and fury, just get ready for it and that appeared to force the north korea to backpedal. Well i think a combination of factors may have produced it. First of all kim jongun has advanced his program. And nuclear and missile test to the point where he may feel he can enter into negotiations with a strong position. He will have something to trade and he will have some leverage. Secondly i think both obama and trump have been successful in working with china to increase International Economic sanctions and this most recent sanction that the u. N. Security Council Passed is a very significant step forward in terms of tightening economic treasure on north korea and finally north korea knows that it cant use military force as it would result in the destruction of government in that country. Liz in about two seconds. Defense secretary James Madison secretary of state Rex Tillerson have an oped where they specifically wrote im sure the North Koreans that that were not looking for a reseen regime change. We are not looking to hurt the embattled north Korean People who are starving the coast of this crazy man who is running the country. That certainly tamp things down but you heard from Vice President mike pence saying it still on the table here but if the North Koreans said we will come to the table but move that antimissile system you have parked in korea, south korea and that anything we try and launch, should we do that . Well we are now entering the stage where we will be negotiating over conditions in preconditions to start negotiations. In other words arguing about the shape of the tape and thats normal practice. What we have said with secretary tillerson and secretary mattis had said in their oped is if kim jongun refrains from Additional Nuclear and missile t we are prepared to begin those negotiations. I think thats a very significant offer from the Trump Administration and frankly represents a softening of the preconditions that the Obama Administration had put in place. Now whether kim jong un is prepared to accept that proposal proposal, to pause testing we just dont know. I think at some point he is likely to want to pursue negotiations but i dont know whether thats going to happen now or whether he will want to go through another series of tests. Liz liz you may find the same problem that other president s before him founded that is north Green Leadership lies and cheats and they cant be trusted. Gary thank you. We have got to run. We will have you back gary samore director of research at harvards Belford Center for science in International Affairs and award winner when it came to at least giving the North Koreans to do something for a couple of years. The dow was up 31 right now. More on the markets and your money. They have had so much to deal with, a lot of drama, a lot of chaos but what about this . He was supposed to be wall streets businessfriendly commanderinchief but the President Trump corporate alliances such as merck ceo and Richard Trumka the aflcio ceo, what does big money think of President Trumps unfriendly move to business . Charlie gasparino has been speaking to traders and Business Leaders. What is their reaction in washington . He is about to break that down. [brother] any last words . [boy] karma, danny. Karma [vo] progress is seizing the moment. Your summer moment awaits you, now that the summer of audi sales event is here. Audi will cover your first months lease payment on select models during the summer of audi sales event. Liz we do have breaking news on obamacare we want to get to right now. Appears the Trump Administration will make key Affordable Care act payments that are in the books to insurers for the month of august according to white house spokesman. Insurance has been asking congress and the administration for certainty that they will continue to get the subsidies to help them cover all of the people that have come onto their roles and they will receive car sharing reduction payments for just the month of august which compensates insurance for outofpocket costs for certain families who are probably closer to the poverty level, lower income. We will keeping an eye on this but for now they will still get subsidies through the insurance company. Back to this after President Trumps you could call it Disastrous Press Conference yesterday Many Companies believe it could be defined as one of the worst days of his young presidency but after key business allies disbanded the Advisory Council just hours ago the disbanded them because he knew that people were fleeing. Some now say this could be one of the biggest blows to the president s agenda. Forget his base, forget other people who voted for him, his agenda charlie. What are you hearing . We should point out we first reported on fox news that jamie dimon with leading in the effort to disband this group. It wasnt that donald trump disbanded it and they all quit. The whole group of them decided to quit and then he tried to front run the announcement and he said they disbanded them. This was really Corporate America coming out and we should point out theres an interesting road to Corporate America where they embrace donald trump. First they stayed away from him during the campaign and when they saw the potential and by the way that a business profiles in courage they saw the potential riches that trump might give them. This is true. Corporate tax cuts and less regulation. Jamie dimon particularly would not hate obama. Liz they like President Trump for that. They joined these various councils which dont have a popular policymaking role but they do advise the president theyll want to be there. They embraced him and they sat through a lot of crazy town even before this latest goround with the charlottesville speech. Donald trump wasnt exactly playing the straight and narrow after six months in office so they sat through that. They didnt care that this crossed the line today. So why did this cross align . Most people, it played to a french were donald trump said about this missing direct culpability of the neonazis and the far right fringe. It suggested he was playing footsie with this very toxic part of our culture. He was saying that he was trying to say that the far rep started it and there was equal blame throughout. Most people looked at those tapes and it showed a violent rally by the far right extremist in which a woman died, which there was a fight with far right agitators. Lets be clear a woman was killed by one of the People Associated with the nazis. You cant get around that by showing moral equivalency. Why do ceos care about this is the big point. They care about it because they are ceos that run companies that deal with consumers and as much donald wants to appeal to his french base these guys appeal to everybody and everybody is more important than the french base. Blackstone owns la quinta hotels. Whos going to want to stay at the la quinta hotel if they know Steve Schwartzman is supporting this frederick . Liz they heard from their customers. These guys will dance around anything if they are still making the money. This was not a moral compass, oh i feel badly about it. Lets be clear this isnt something you can just say in 30 seconds. They know, its not on paper yet but heres what they are saying. Donald Trump Associated with someone like donald trump gives that speech is actually worse than the prospect of tax cuts. That is a huge thing. Liz we are coming right back. Mexico and canada representatives have started talks on the 23yearold north American Free trade agreement while farming and transportation groups have pretty much been at the forefront of lobbying in favor of a tweet of nafta certainly. Another group has ramped up their efforts, the tech are. Companies like cisco and microsoft have thrown their hat into the ring in favor of nafta in the hopes of avoiding any potential restrictions on things like Cloud Storage and eliminate technology tariffs. Jeff flock is standing by and of all places the corn farm in bartlett, illinois. Jeff farmers have turned extremely hightech to ensure they have a lot of equipment or they do their books on the cloud. What do they hope to get out of these negotiations and can they work with tech . While the farmers dont want to screw it up just like the tech folks. They dont want nafta to get screwed up because theyre exiting help by. The Tech Industry doesnt have a lot of restrictions and they dont want new and new restrictions payday benefit tremendously from nafta. The Auto Industry that is causing the big deficit the trade deficit that we have with mexico. Take a look at the numbers on the Auto Industry. Its about a 74 billiondollar trade deficit with mexico tico so much of the manufacturing that has been moved there. It wasnt for that wed have a 10 billiondollar trade surplus with mexico. We also have a surplus by the way with canada. Ag exports to mexico that is a great thing for us. Was about 10. 9 billion 10 years ago now closer to 18 billion. Thats a big increase rate the overall trade deficit as they say, its agriculture, autos and tack is in there too but not as big a player. The agriculture got together in washington for a big press conference. The mexicans come the canadians in the u. S. Ag industry and the American Farm bureau, Farm Bureau Federation said listen mr. President whatever you do dont screw it up, do no harm. This has been a good trade north american agriculture from mexico and canada and we will make sure we have that voice heard loud and clear that we dont want to harm the game that we have had any. I dont see them doing harm to this treaty that has been good for agriculture. And i would point out to you liz many people dont know this but the nafta agreement must be ratified by congress so whatever they negotiate congress has to get behind it. There are a lot of farms out there and if they mess with them i dont think it gets approved. Liz you look like a Norman Rockwell painting out there, your green shirt with the grass in the corn. I am as old as Norman Rockwell but thank you. Liz thank you very much. Im sure these negotiations will be going on for a long time.
