Four executives calling their moves, quote, grandstanding. Weve got all the business bases covered for you. Congressman rodry davis sits on house transportation and Infrastructure Committee and jay timmons is the president of the National Association of manufacturers, theyre here on why this new executive order might be long overdue, and whether it really will fast track projects . Plus the white supremacist neonazi weekend protests in virginia reigniting the debate over hightechs responsibility to protect free speech but weed out bad actors. Niko malay of media and Public Policy on the new and dangerous frontier. On wall street, yesterdays best day of the summer, a distant memory as stocks struggled to stay above water. Above the 22,000 line by five measly points. Were watching it for you. Apple hitting a fresh high and dicks stumbled on the earnings warning track. Were less than an hour to the closing bell. Lets start the countdown. So as we mentioned, we are waiting on President Trump to sign an executive order that the Administration Says will cut all that red tape that is choking business, choking manufacturing and infrastructure names and of course, the red tape that comes with it. He wants to get rid of that and these Infrastructure Projects include highways, bridges, pipelines, not a clear cut win for all the stocks in the center. The winners in the final hour include many of the steel makers, manufacturers of steel, a. K. Steel up more than a percent. Eagle is decent. The rest are slightly above the forecast line but still in the green. U. S. Steel corporation as well as the Construction Materials firms, and others in the sector are not struggling, they are clearly in the red primarily construction and Engineering Firm names like kbr which used to be kellogg, brown and root, down 3 , Jacobs Engineering down 2 . Granite down 2. 5 . The broader markets appears investors are taking a breather after two solid gains, two days of gains with the dow struggling. Earlier it was worse, we are above the flat line, 22,007, up about 13 points. Whats holding us back . You can bring in home depot, weighing on the blue chip index, down 3 , as the biggest loser on the dow, that shaves off 36 points from the blue chip index. Just days ago, the Home Improvement retailer could do no wrong, remember this Beat Estimates on both the top and bottom line. Home depot raised full year forecast yet investors sent the stock tumbling today on concerns that the fact that inventories of homes for sale are so skinny, so few homes to buy that home depot sales might get dinged. Thats the perception. Heres another brick and mortar stock getting slashed, Dicks Sporting Goods striking out down 22 in the final hour of trade. Biggest drop ever that the publicly traded company has seen since ipoing more than a decade ago. Reported disappointing samestore sales. Some of this might be related to july retail sales which on the top line looked absolutely fabulous. Pink of health. Best in seven months up 6 10 , if you break out the online versus the brick and mortar names, online was Something Like triple, four times, four Times Department store sales, the online retailers are doing brilliantly. Brick and mortar not merely as well. A company that does both, coach, the magic of recently acquired kate spades band couldnt boost the hand bag maker in quarterly report. Coach down 14 or 6. 80. That stock standing at 41. 12. Shall we get on trump tower . Where any moment President Donald Trump will sign a new executive order which will establish quote discipline and accountability, basically simplifying the Environmental Review and permitting process for Infrastructure Projects, which create jobs. The goal in make it a lot easier to fix americas crumbling roads, bridges and tunnels and fast track the permitting process. Upon the arrival to manhattan abode, the commander in chief was greeted with thuses of protesters protesting the initial response to the neonazi and white supremacist rally in charlottesville, virginia. Blake burman is outside trump tower. Blake, when you talk throw is respond in the first speech in the wake of the protests, it was he didnt call out the White Supremacists by name, he later did yesterday. What is the scene there like . Right now, in front of trump tower, liz, it would be like any other tuesday here except for the fact that youve got the massive security presence, you can see the dump trucks behind me. Police, longterm officials everywhere, but no protesters so far. I reiterate so far, and i think theres a couple reasons for that. First, it is just 3 00 in the afternoon, when you saw the protests last night in front of trump tower, the president got here at 9 00 and saw the swarm of people. But secondly, its also raining right now, and if weve learned about protests in the years past, one thing that dampens them, no pun intended, is the rain. When you look later into the night when the sun sets, we will see if tonight at trump tower mirrors what we saw tomorrow yesterday, rather. Speaking of trump tower, the president is back home for the First Time Since his presidency, according to the schedule, she set to be huddled with seniormost advisers, just to rattle off a few names, chief of staff, john kelly, top economic advisers steve mnuchin, gary gone, along with elaine chao, they are inside trump tower as the president is set to sign executive order relating to infrastructure, and what we are told from the white house, he ran through some of, this is that this will streamline the process, take these major federal permitting projects down from ten years which the Trump Administration complains is way too long and shrink the time horizon to two years, he will sign the executive order and come down the stairs or down the elevator to trump tower, take to the microphone to make a statement well watch and see if the president sticks to infrastructure or potentially makers comments on north korea or elsewhere. Liz lets explain the trucks behind you. People dont know what they do in new york, but for the thanksgiving day parade or the israel day parade, they use those, correct, to block off whether the cross streets so nobody can come in with anything nefarious, correct . Reporter this is the new York City Department of sanitation trucks, these are massive dump trucks, seven or eight on this side and going on the west side too. This is up and down the street in front of trump tower for a couple blocks or so. This is stopping anybody who would have the thought of jumping the barricades here and trying to make a run for trump tower. Should i also add, liz, there are police everywhere asking all sorts of questions, and to get into trump tower is next to impossible unless you are supposed to be there. Liz anybody wants to shop at gucci, get ready for the takedown. Reporter and pull out the credit card. Liz and extra security and nypd and secret service, and we thank them for important, important contribution. While the president shifts the focus on infrastructure, no doubt inside trump tower this morning there was sure to be chatter about who might abandon ship next . Were not talking about members of the president s inner circle, but rather ceos who are sitting on manufacturing Advisory Council. Three ceos bailed off this council for manufacturing but then at 11 30 a. M. , the gentleman on the far right of the screen, scott paul, president of the alliance for american manufacturing, including united steelworkers also resigned. The departures follow the white supremacist and neonazi violence over the weekend in charlottesville, virginia, in what is perceived as the initial statement which did not disavow or name the hate groups involved. Other tech giants are making different moves. Google and godaddy rejecting hate groups by announcing theyre cutting all ties with hosting registrations for all or any neonazi or white supremacist sites as publicly traded Tech Companies rush to make positions clear. How will that square with their consumers and with the nation . Consultant to fortune 1,000 companies helps them craft the message and director at Harvard Kennedy shorenstein center. Join us to take down on this. Niko, four of these ceos and president s who sit on the president s panel for manufacturing are gone. Numerous are staying put for now. Do us a favor, since you consult the companies, get inside the heads of Corporate America even if theyre not part of this argument today. What are thing . Planning out stance in case theyre questioned by either consumers or politicos . Every single ceo of a Major Company in america right now is trying to figure out where that line is for them, and at what point do they step out and talk about the state of the country and hate speech, which runs the risk of calling more attention to them, and at what point do they just be quiet and wait for a crisis, really more directly targets them. Liz what would you advise . If brian krzanich, the ceo of intel said should i do this . I feel its the right thing to do for my company and for me, it attracts more attention, but matters to them, obviously. I think the fundamental question of leadership. Every Major Business school in america teaches classes on leadership and encountering crisis. This is a moment when americas ceos have to figure out what leaders they are. There are practical things they can do about a few months ago saw Jpmorgan Chase look at online ad spending and you had much adjacent to hate speech and neonazi groups and changed Online Advertising strategy. Liz there are respected names who are staying, michael dell of Dell Computer is staying, Wendy Morrison of campbells soup. Talk about whats going through their minds, do you think there are more shoes to drop or stay stat like this . I have a feeling were going to see other shoes drop. Its not just about whats happening now for the ceos, cumulatively, tech ceos do not feel the administration is interested in the tech sector. Weve had the argument about the h1b visas and keeping america in front of liz can i interrupt you here . Hes hosted tim cook of apple. They obviously have disagreements about things. Elon musk who left an earlier council, Advisory Panel of the president s after he exited the paris climate accord. Bob iger of disney. Hes been very business friendly and bringing in a lot of tech names, no . Absolutely. Thats the side that has attracted these people that he is business friendly but not necessarily socially friendly and not innovation friendly. He doesnt talk about it, there are no policy statements, you know, so i think that sometimes these ceos are feeling the frustration and this unfortunately, what happened here with charlottesville and the initial statements for some of them was too much because theyre looking to the president for certain kind of leadership so they can go back to the customers and the people that work for them and say this is why we have aligned ourselves with the administration because it can do good things for us and the country. Liz lets be clear, i know because i know brian krzanich, he cares about sales, must have heard from consumers. Putting that aside, go to godaddy and google, they have said were not host anything more of the hate speech groups or anything like that. Do we run a fine line about freedom of speech . Of course you want to ban anything that encourages murder like the islamic terrorist sites, but where do you stand . What would you advise because freedom of speech is to be protected of course according to our Founding Fathers . Good question, one of the critical questions is to what extent do we want the Companies Making decisions . Companies like google and facebook have disproportionate control over what the public space looks like online and constitutes free speech. Facebook says they take down 66,000 hate speech posts a day im sorry, a week. We dont know what theyre taking down and are the decisions okay . Liz lance, theyre looking to bring in the Supreme Court to define what should be turned over from the companies if there is something suspicious or subpoenaed. Where do you think that goes . I think that all of this kind of goes out to there. Theres not just a question of what should be subpoenaed, what peoples personal rights are as far as whats being tracked, but what is the definition . Where does hate lie . What lies in between . Who makes a decision . I think it is interesting to look at what godaddy and google have done as far as removing the sites, they serve a wide spectrum of customers and at some point are they the once who are going to be making the decision . And thats kind of opaque. Liz well, weve got the Companies Involved pretty much moving in tandem with the markets, either flat to slightly lower. Good to see both of and you thank you for weighing in. Lance ulanoff of mashable. We have about 45 minutes before the closing bell rings. Waiting on the president. Shares of General Electric hitting a 52week low of 25. 15, after Warren Buffetts Berkshire Hathaway sold remaining 10. 6 million ge shares in the second quarter. A stake worth estimated 315 million. The billionaire investor did hold onto 44 lucky Companies Part of his 162 billion empire clzing the names you know very well on the screen, apple, amex, wells fargo, coke, among others, with ge getting the boot, which ones should he sell next . Let me start with you, stephen guilfoyle, our sergeant, what downing he should jettison . On ge, im long, i just bought it. Liz because of this . Usually when the sell side is out of a trade, the equilibrium of price discovery changes in favor of the better. I took a medium size shot on the buy side. Liz you say sell wells fargo . Wells fargo, a company with a lot of problems, debt loads that amount to 3 of the debt load. Ongoing legal issues regarding unauthorized accounts. The state of california investigating their auto policies. Liz weve covered it all. Its going to cost the new ceo his job after they fired the last guy a few months ago. I think you have issues here. Liz instead he went into sink ronnie, a consumer and private credit card banking company. Larry, what do you think, what do you believe, or feel he should jettison from the much followed portfolio. Thats why were talking about it, folks, when buffett does something, a lot of others follow . Im strongly convicted he should dump usg, its a sector i follow. Downward spiral with the company. A combination, margins are going down. Input prices continue to go up in that steel and corrugated cardboard prices making it difficult. Increased capacity from mohawk, armstrong and others. So i think the fact is that its going to be hard to make up that, theres a lot of transition with lmw, longterm will be okay but right now enjoyed a mote of exclusive distribution and solvent base, and yeah, its going to be a tough time going forward. Liz phil, buffett should spill what . Get rid of the airlines, he has so many of them. One im seeing is united continental. Big problems. Not only in the shortterm but in the long run. The energy hedging situation, i dont think theyre prepared for the potential of higher prices down the road. I think thats one stock that if i were him, id dump them. Hes holding onto a lot of airlines, how Many Airlines does Warren Buffett need . Liz you want to hear mine . I think at some point, he and his team sell ibm. There is nothing exciting about it, keeps disappointing him, thats what i think. George soros liquidated stake too, it will be interesting to see what happens with ibm. Guys, thank you very much. Thank you. Liz we have 36 minutes before the closing bell rings. If we pick apart the dow. One of buffetts huge holdings is american express. He loves it to this day. Leading the dow 30, up 1. 47 at 86. 94. Apple one of the sparkling leaders of the day, after david tepper and the oracle of omaha boosted their stakes in the iphone maker. A one reverse mortgage licensed specialist is standing by . Liz folks, we have breaking news, and the timing is particularly interesting here. Right ahead of the president s appearance. Walmart ceo Doug Mcmillan has just released a statement on the events over the weekend in charlottesville, virginia, saying his remarks were a step in the right direction. Despite the criticism a walmart spokesman said that the ceo will continue to serve on a president ial Advisory Council on economic development. So he is not leaving, charlie gasparino, but the breaking news comes i think we expect minutes for the president to be speaking about infrastructure. What does this tell you . It tells me this, and you know, im gettinga a lot of stuff on my twitter page about me being a leftwing ideologue. Liz you . Im pretty conservative. It says this, that these are listen, a lot of the ceos, ive covered for years, increasingly politically correct. This is beyond that. For them to come out on the initial statement that didnt place blame where it deserved to be place on the white nationalists and people wonder why donald trump didnt acknowledge david duke in the first, during the campaign, you remember that . Asked about him. Liz theres a pattern, sure. Theres a pattern, and leading people, average people, who shop at the stores, this isnt just the leftwing media tech world echo chamber. People at the stores must be calling the ceos and calling the companies and saying this is a problem. So its beyond the echo chamber, ceos are saying what he said was so wrong, and the appearance of him pandering to a very toxic part of our culture, at least initially, is very bad. Liz it was an easy call, and he didnt make it, initially but then came out and said he had to have a gun held to his head to even say neonazi, white supremacist. The argument was it should have been two days earlier. Or a day earlier. Liz the president will be arriving and talking about infrastructure, hell be talking about the permitting processes through much more quickly and make job creation number one a move there. In the meantime, yet another sands in the hourglass story. Its captivating wall street, but wall street because a lot of financiers and baseball because it involves the great derek jeter, possibly buying a team with a group of financiers, and last week as people reported, except for us, i said derek jeter is telling us he has a handshake agreement. We dont know too much about the agreement except for the sources telling us and David Sampson who is the general manager of the marlins, that jeter has the handshake agreement to buy, allegedly. Major League Baseball hasnt said anything, one of the reasons is a lot of the bid still remains obtuse, obscured by exactly where the money is coming from. The 1. 2 billion. Whos vitting, do they have the money . Thats what baseball execs tell us now. It is likely the subject of a lot of talks during the owners meeting, in chicago, wednesday and thursday or thursday and friday, its going to be interesting. Another wrinkle waiting in the wings is miami billionaire jorge mas who might be part of the bid, theyre going to need his money. Liz circling like a shark. No theyre waiting on the outside, and he doesnt want to overpay. Thats where we are right now. Thursday, friday, during the owners meeting in chicago is key. Liz finish this up by friday, please. Heres the thing, liz, you dont like it but the viewers love it. I know they do. [laughter] heres the other thing, its a great business story. Jeters bid is run by investment banker greg fleming, one of the best in the business. Reason he won is because of greg. Hes a longtime wall Street Investment banker, worked at Morgan Stanley and merrill lynch. Liz i loved it when Mario Lemieux bought the penguins. I love it when players who know how to run the stuff heres the thing, jeter doesnt know how to run it. Baseball is worried about his business acumen. Liz thats the state Department Spokesperson heather nauert. No diplomacy but working its way through. North korea said it put its threat to launch Ballistic Missiles at the u. S. Territory of guam on hold. Has north korea blinked or the u. S. On high alert for potential attack . Lets bring in the man who sat across the table from and faced down North Koreans to push abandonment of Nuclear Weapons program. Senior fellow anthony rogero. Welcome, sir, thank you for joining us. Do the North Koreans blink . I dont believe anything they say. Look like theyve taken secretary mattiss warning seriously. Any attempt to attack guam would be as he said, gamement on the Trump Administration is using all elements of u. S. Foreign policy, negotiations through the new york channel with north korea, threat of sanctions against china and north korea and military action if necessary to calm the threat. Liz well, ill tell you what, this looks good to me because we havent seen any kind of movement, and again, we cant be sure what theyre going to do, they could be totally lying. But the president did something very smart, he threatened china with the intellectual property smackdown. The chinese steal so much from us. What do you think theyre thinking . Do you think somebody from china called somebody from north korea and said back down now . I hope so, i think the chinese claim they have no ability to tell north korea what to do which is not true when you have north korea with 90 of trade with china and Chinese Companies and entities and banks facilitating sanctions with asia. Liz what was it like to deal with the North Koreans in 2005 when you pushed them at the table about the plans . They are not interested in negotiating away their nuclear program. Theyve been clear that 2005 deal fell apart because we insisted on verification, and they were not interested in actually giving up the weapons. Same thing happened in the 90s. Right now what we need is robust sanctions to get the u. S. Leverage, if we are going to negotiate. Liz so it looks smart that the administration is going through china to get at north korea. Anthony, thank you for joining us. Thank you. Liz actually tried to work with them gives that you insight. Closing bell ringing in 20 minutes, make that 19 right now. Liz the executive order the president is about to sign streamlines the permit process for Infrastructure Projects by speeding up the average process of the approval plan from ten years, thats what it takes now, down to two. Republican congressman from illinois rodney davis is on the house transportation and Infrastructure Committee, and jay timmons, the president and ceo of National Association of manufacturers. We have cameras focused on the elevators if the president comes down, my apologies for interrupting. Jay, first to you, i need your opinion as one of the honchos on the manufacturing world in america, paul scott, whom you know was one of now four who left the Manufacturing Council that the president organized. What do you make of that . They obviously did not like the initial response after the riots over the weekend. And heres his tweet im resigning from the Manufacturing Jobs Initiative because its the right thing for me. Your assessment . Sure, i cant speak for any of the members of the association, thats up to them. Business community writ large, is unified against any type of bigotry or violence or racism. I mean, that is not something we will tolerate or stand for, and were very pleased that america is speaking up quite loudly. Liz congressman, get to the issue at hand, that is this order that will streamline the process. How bad is the current process right now for completion, just to break ground . Its abysmal, liz, and thanks again for having me on. Liz sure. This is an issue at the Illinois State fair for agriculture day. We have large water projects in the inland water way system waiting over 20 years to get out of the permitting process, and the average time it takes for the corps of engineers to put forth the paperwork process and the permits for large projects like this was 15 years. Thats why this executive order is so essential, and im glad the Trump Administration is putting it forth. Liz jay, ive heard of examples similar to that where the original company that wanted to help with the project essentially went bankrupt because it took so long. Thats a shame. This is possibly a really good step in the right direction, right . A fantastic step in the right direction. Just look at some projects that may not be directly related to transportation infrastructure but projects that were all aware of. The keystone xl pipeline, six years of dithering before the last administration finally rejected it, and this administration rescued it thankfully. Thats 38,000 jobs that were on the line for six years, and the companies that were investing in that project were really concerned about whether or not weather they could keep the project going. Liz congressman davis, let me jump in here, some of the problems were environmental including the governor of nebraska, a republican, concerned about the water table. Tell me what you think would be the best way to straddle the line for the president . We all want clean water for our children and ourselves and want a clean planet and also want jobs. Is there a way the president can gather together and streamline a process . Absolutely there is, liz, and jay is absolutely right. The Keystone Pipeline project was the most studied project in american history. It was governments way of passing a political agenda onto what would have been development of thousands upon thousands of jobs. We want clean water for every single america. We want to protect our environment, but you cant use the bureaucracy to stop progress because you may disagree with a president s agenda or a corporations agenda to move projects like that forward. I would even say, congressman natural gas and oil is through a pipeline. And i would say a communitys desire to have that project. Thats whats happening. We have these nongovernmental organizations coming in and stopping communities from developing their own resources and their own assets. Thats a shame and that leads to a resser america, and we cant let that happen. This executive order will help speed up the process in order to get things done in an environmental safe and sound way in a way that promotes progress for the american people. Liz that is the issue too, because there are ways to do both of these things, and ive looked at so many ceos and businesses who have wanted to be part of the solution. Theyve wanted to add to infrastructure, and yet its almost like the government in the past made it so darn difficult that they give up. Small businesses want to get started. They give up. Congressman, what is the number one thing you need to see in this executive order . We need to see that streamline process actually take effect within the federal agencies. We can talk about making sure that we streamline the regulatory process, but until the agencies follow these orders, its still going to be a problem for many members that are part of the National Association of manufacturers, Jays Organization to grow into large manufacturers. Remember, every Single Member that jay had in his association once started as a small mom and pop manufacturing shop. And if government stands in the way for them growing, were not going to have the next caterpillars, the next john deeres and the next Large Employer in central illinois. Liz as we look at infrastructure stocks and wait for the president. I know details here. We understand that there will be one, one shot at a limited amount of time, in a limited amount of time where everybody who wants to know or complain about a certain project that they all come together and they make their complaint and state what they dont like or like about it. Almost how the fcc works with certain mergers, where you get a Comment Period and boom, its either yes or no. Even that takes too long. I would just say they believe that most people would embrace it, but jay, you know some groups are going to fight it. Can they legally fight it and how high up would that eventually go . Look, we fight regulations all the time, and the other side who want to see the regulations promulgated fight for the regulations. There is a court system in place, a system that can address those concerns, but you need to have a fundamental process at the beginning. Look, i worked for a governor in virginia, george allen, who put together a stream lined regulatory process, and there was one project in particular that ill never forget. It was a Technology Company that wanted to build a huge ship fab facility in virginia, and the governor committed we will have this permitting process done in a matter of months instead of years. It happened. That plant was built in exactly 365 days and thousands of people were employed. Thats what were talking about. Not talking about cutting corners, talking about streamlining a process. We need more level heads like congressman davis in congress to get a legislative fix like the portmanheitkamp bill. Liz congressman, you have a lot on the table. Everybody wants tax reform, banging down the doors on the white house and the capitol for that. Can you get stuff like infrastructure done beyond the executive order and deal with that, and the debt ceiling . And, of course, the health care which the house managed to get through but the senate couldnt do it . Absolutely we can, liz, and its going to take both parties coming together because theres no republican or democrat way to fix our crumbling infrastructure in this country. Its an american way, and ought to be able to work together. My only fear, though, liz, is this political environment becomes so toxic, were not going to get democrat to vote for infrastructure bill because they dont want to give President Trump a victory. I urge everyone, call your legislators, President Trump making the first step in rebuilding the crumbling infrastructure today with the executive order but need to take it a step further and help legislate it. Liz you brought up the political atmosphere and as you know, many of the ceos are still staying on the Manufacturing Council for the president , but four have left, and now walmart in the last 20 minutes, the Ceo Doug Mcmillon came out, i dont know if you heard, this but was not happy with the president and hes put out the statement saying as we watch the events and the response from President Trump over the weekend, we too felt he missed a critical opportunity to bring our country together by unequivocally rejecting the appalling actions of White Supremacists. This, of course, from the weekend riots. Quote, his remarks were in the right direction and need that clarity and consistency in the future. This is affecting certain stocks. I want to bring in chad to the conversation. With Washington Crossing advisers. Chad, politics versus hey lets streamline the permit process and get going with job creation. Can one finally run ahead of the other . Well, look, proper planning from the government side and loosening regulatory issues is a positive in the long run. In short run, we have to contend with how do we get infrastructure plan approved as well as the tax plan approved that is not that is easily easy to digest for not only the democratic side but also the gop fiscal conservatives. Liz but what about the stocks involved, chad . Youre the money guy here . The stocks involved, infrastructure stocks have gotten a bounce. Industrials have gotten a bounce in anticipation of that, its fully reflected with the Industrial Companies. The Industrial Companies are trading based off of Global Growth which is on firm footing and growing, the companies have done well, we also think that the Railroad Companies could do well, for example, Union Pacific in general. When we look at market, wohl be much more conservative with our allocations at this point in time. Liz well, the market has just gone gangbusters here, and as we look at the dow, the dow has been rather strong and its still above 22,000, its at 22,005 points. Congressman, president obama signed the american surfaces transportation act in 2015. A fiveyear funding federal highway and transit programs, what changes would you plan now that we have this new president in office . The fast act is still in place, thats the gas tax dollars every American Family pays every time they pump their car full of gas. That usually makes up about 80 of all of the funding in our Nations Construction projects. Especially here in states like illinois. What we need to do is think beyond. Think beyond a regular structures that we have with our highway bills, Water Infrastructure bills, and lets make sure we take President Trumps vision and many of us in washington want to see us put together a package to truly rebuild america, and we can do that and address many of the issues that President Trump committed to address. Even though it is still down 2 . But the dow at the moment is going down. You see volatility. Climbing there on the far right side of the screen. Thank all you are friend with us, president head of omb Mick Mulvaney and transportation secretary, elaine chao. Thank you for doing a great job what were discussing today, which sis infrastructure. We just had a great set of briefings upstairs on our infrastructure agenda. My administration is working en to deliver the world class infrastructure that our people deserve and frankly that our country deserves. I signed a new executive order to nations badly broken infrastructure permitting process. Blogs away is the empire state building. It took 11 months to build the empire state building. But today, it can take as long as a decade and much more than that. Many, many stories where it takes 20, and 25 years to just get approvals to startc construction of a fairly routine highway. Highway builders must get up to 16 different approval involving nine different federal agencies, governed by 29 different statutes. One agency alone can stall a project for many, many years, even decades. Not only does this cost our economy billions of dollars, but it also denies citizens safe and modern infrastructure they deserve
