Countdown to the closing bell starts right now. Fetus the robot and bob greifeld. What more can we want . I am liz claman, live at the Nasdaq Market place in the heart of times square where we are awaiting a huge Earnings Reports to get to you. Google and amazon coming out in an hour from now, widely held stocks, you may air and on your portfolio but also will barometers for what is going on in technology and also ringing the closing bell with some very wellknown superstar nfl faces and our fox sports robot cletus. The last hour of trading, a rally on our hands and you might call todays rally the facebook affect. We should tell you Mark Zuckerberg and social networking giant hitting it out of the park with the Earnings Report yesterday and now getting 63 of its ad revenue from mobile. That is absolutely few. Market watchers and analysts took stuff on fire today, up 15 . It also had a brand new alltime high of 62. 50 a share. As impressive as those numbers are we cannot give facebook all the credit for todays rally. The u. S. Economy growing 3. 2 in queue 4 thanks to robust consumer spending. Markets love to see that. That was 4. 1 growth in the third quarter, stronger performance than anticipated. Some remaining drag on the economy from the partial Government Shutdown the number was very welcome. Look at yields on a ten year treasury note, it rose to 2. 7 from 2. 68 on the Federal Reserve announced it would make further reductions in its asset program. As i mentioned, a massive earnings day, dozens of Companies Reported including auto nation getting a major boost from the sale of very high end luxury cars, were talking 95,000 mercedes, talking to auto nations chairman and ceo mike jackson later in the show about what we can infer from the fact that if people are buying ttat many, is the economy doing much better than expected . One of the busiest trading days of the season, big names, everything from these and exxon mobile, 3 m, all reporting. Nicole petallides on the floor of the Stock Exchange with todays winners. Liz it is earnings season and it is a busy day so lets look, take a look at visa and both of these names out with their earnings and these are earnings winners, up 383 but that is worth 17. 6 so that is a huge move and visa, stellar performer today helping the Dow Jones Industrial average moved higher. They came out with earnings that topped analysts estimates and also guided the company over the last few years because in 20112012 they had some weak results they have been trying to refocus this company and today a very nice showing. The profit beat the street estimates. Profits rose 8. 8 and one simple way to explain it is people using their cars a lot more. Liz perfect discussion with mike jackson of auto nation. Many stocks are rebounding so the question becomes will this rally picked up steam into next week . To the floor show traders of the Stock Exchange, cme group and nynex, i am at the nasdaq looking at real winners. Let me start with you. When you put it altogether january may be the worst we have seen in a couple years. What do you think happens in the next couple sessions . Encouraging to see a balance and stabilization and emergingmarket. That is a factor, helpful to this market overall, tough to make too much of this because we have seen a lot of volatility. This is the new normal and you cant make much of this rally. If we got 1815 in the s p and give it a little credit, technology is starting to show signs of performance particularly ahead of the google and amazon earnings but tech is a standout. The nasdaq back over january blows, the nasdaq, the dow jones, something to point out and all the indices managed to hold december lows, critical level of support Going Forward and the fact the we had a shortterm collection for longerterm january will be down forward for the year, a lot less robust as a result of that. A couple surprises, Consumer Discretionary one of the worst performing sectors this month, and falling out of bed, good signs of strength and technology, health care continues to be strong, utilities has people scratching their heads. Some of that could be attributed to the pullback. Liz the ticket in nasdaq added 89 points. And a mostly obscene in two years. Marks tone, this rally might not be for real. What do you see here . This last month was contrived. First the economy failing, then the fed and now the emerging markets and the fact is we had a very good run up and especially in the Fourth Quarter of 2013 was due to cool off a little bit. Gdp number today was very strong. There was a definitely mess in the housing numbers, havent had a lot of good housing numbers in the last few months but all in all still growing, puuling off a little bit. This is a good time to find stocks that are on sale. Liz what is not on sale is crudeoil, bumping of 97 for the first time in i want to say six weeks and natural gas doing a complete reversal. Bring this up because the weather is getting warmer in new york city, not as freezing as it was a day ago. The game we saw a natural gas at 11 , were seeing a slice back of a on that. You will see below volatility continue over is the next couple weeks. Looks like a real cold we have been going for the last week or two will be gone for the foreseeable future so you will see Natural Gas Prices fell off. I would look for one more pop before march ends. Liz i would think there are few more stocks to go. Thanks, gentlemen. We have got to run, we have the busiest scene outside our window at the Nasdaq Market site. As we mentioned at the top of the show we are watching facebook surging today. Lets take a look, you see shares of social market heavyweight still getting a huge pot on yesterdays blockbuster Earnings Report. Stock is currently trading, considered higher at the moment, 14 , nearly 15 higher. And other Technology Giant basking in the green, google up 3 after hanging up on motorolas had said business. Dennis kneale, this broke after the bell, the first headline i saw, the fact that they are selling, a company, Motorola Mobility than they bought a couple years ago, lenovo takes no prisoners when it comes to hard work, what does that mean for google going into hardware and what does it mean for lenovo . Dennis wall street deciding today this is a relief rally, the hemorrhaging at motorola is over because google has lost 2 billion since it acquired motorola 20 months ago and operating it. You bought ed for 12. 5 billion and selling it to the chinese for less than 3 but brought in 6 billion by selling off this business and pocketing motorola cash so wall street looking forward deciding google will do well without motorola. Also shows you the Smartest Companies are not so smart when it comes to making smart phones. Was a waste outside its core business, but 20 acquisitions in the past year google is acquiring all kinds of stuff that has nothing to do with advertising. I am waiting to see it is a really smart strategy and fought out or a food fight, you throw it against the wall and see what sticks. Google earnings wise people are looking for double digit growth, earnings pershare of 60 when the report after the bell, net income 17 they expect 4 billion, revenue of 40 to 16 billion. We will see if earnings are hurt by several billion dollar charge to get rid of that motorola, wall street wont parrot out that. That is google. Want to talk face book . Liz we could talk facebook pour amazon. Technology is the name of the game and you heard mark newton say tech is looking like a standout not just today but over time. Dennis look at how the nasdaq has been weaker in the month of january than the other indexes. People thought tax tech was heading for a fall. You got to think what is not to like . They face two big crappiess, one for facebook was can we get on to the iphone and tablet and mobile . Mobile, 70 of users now over half of at scum, 50 and revenue is great so we have to see the other crappies, we always worried before how many people they have in the tent. Wall street is looking at what a good job facebook does selling stuff to people that are in the tenth and doing a good job. Liz it quieted a few people that were critical of it. Quoting some of the media. Thank you very much. We appreciate it. Google, facebook call list on the nasdaq, google reporting earnings after the bell, same with amazon. We will give you a full breakdown. Lets get to the fact that the closing bell is a few minutes away. We look at 49 minutes of all kinds of news we are going to give you, battle of the luxury brands, bmw versus mercedes, mercedes came out on top, auto nation chairman and ceo Michael Jackson says mercedes and bmw held his company get on top. And what customers are driving, what is revving up his earnings. Right here in the heart of times square, superbowl in sanity. Fox sports, every network has a set and nasdaq ceo bob greifeld doesnt need a set. We are well entrenched right here at Seventh Avenue and 48th street, we will talk about what else is here. Football, market investment, fox business exclusive and as we continue our special live edition of countdown to the closing bell live from the nasdaq take a look outside. You. Auto sales have roared back from the depths of the 2009 recession boosting Companies Like harmon. Listen to what harmon did. The maker of audio equipment for luxury cars jumping on the auto recovery wagon. Harmon stock surging after a Strong Quarter helped by booming sales of luxury vehicles. This stock up 17 , a huge move. The Auto Dealer Group is something that has done very well. If lot of people have high end audio in their cars how about the actual car sellers . Auto nation benefiting sales of luxury cars like mercedesbenz and bmw reporting blockbuster product and what will be the drivers of growth . Mike jackson, auto nation chairman and ceo joining me from Fort Lauderdale, fla. The numbers to me look good. You miss concern metrics for the analysts. I am less interested in that and more interested in fact that high end luxury cars do so well. Give us the sense of what happened. First i would like to say it is the 1year anniversary of launching the auto nation brand from coast to coast. I appeared on your show your ago and since then we had four consecutive alltime record quarters tapping off the year with Fourth Quarter up 20 . And you are absolutely right. Normally the premium luxury business in the Fourth Quarter this year was spectacular making up from before the 6 of our profitability and was good for all the germans whether it was bmw, particularly strong with mercedesbenz because in the Fourth Quarter they launched a top of the line all knew they entered a new price segment so we had in our mercedesbenz showrooms new customers, much younger, looking at the see l. A. And off the chart demand for this after this new x class and we sell almost 10 of mercedesbenz in the United States and is a big position for us. Really drove the business in the Fourth Quarter. Tracy i like you because you get a sense from how your company does to how the United States is doing when it comes to car sales. Can we deduce that if the average price of a x class car is 94,000 can we do that the economy is doing pretty well if you are selling as many as you are . When you talk about the economy there is a bifurcated recovery. On one half if you have a global perspective and are highly educated and have assets invested in stock markets and other instruments you have done very well in this recovery. On the other side of the equation, where you are competing against global labor, on gdp basis has had an anemic recovery, i think it has been tough. So it is a bit of a bifurcated recovery. When it comes to automotive we have had a good recovery because we had a depression in automotive. People stopped buying cars, pushed the average age to 11. 3 so people had to do something and we had great new products and financing. The automotive recovery has been stronger than the Overall Economic recovery. Liz you are in florida, we have seen wild weather and a lot of cars spin out in the southern states. Is it ridiculous for me to ask whether you might see some type of bump in sales from weatherrelated issues where people give up on their old cars . First, i am very fortunate. In Fort Lauderdale it is 72 degrees and you will be 80 over the weekend but for our businesses in tennessee, georgia and washington d. C. It has been a tough few days, atlanta particular of the which simply doesnt have the experience or the equipment to deal with the type of storm they have. We had our dealerships open all night, sheltering people who could not get home and our employees moved heaven and earth to get food and blankets and comfort to these people. Not just customers, any one. I humanitarian effort. I am sure there will be some wrecked cars out of the Insurance Companies to pay for but that is not what we are thinking about at the moment. Liz great heart, greg corp. Thank you so much. Great to see you. Liz mike jackson, auto nation chairman, the stock and getting a terrific. As we discussed the sales of luxury cars mercedes, on monday we got the ceo of mercedesbenz who says he sees his most formidable rival, you have to stay tuned for monday and find out and super bowl commercials will be amazing but what is ahead for the luxury car market . And other fox business exclusive. Stay tuned. I am going to be reading the closing bell in a few minutes. Facebook, largely on the back of its mobile apps revenue. Charlie gasparino says he is getting interesting ads on his facebook feet. What convinced him to brave the cold . He is going to wwlk down Seventh Avenue and come here to talk about it. And ceo bob greifeld will be with me after of a break, ceo of the nasdaq to talk about how Major Companies are getting in on the superbowl action. He will give his super bowl predictions right here on fox business, live from the nasdaq and superable boulevard. Liz we are in the heart of new york city on the floor of the market site, 43 and 7 food, a block from superbowl boulevard, we are joined in a fox business exclusive with the quarterback of the nasdaq himself, bob greifeld, ceo of nasdaq. Exciting to have this year. Glad to have you here. An exciting week, all the superbowl fans out there having a great time. We have a bunch of players coming to the close tonight and you will be there. Liz this is exciting. For me to have this fox sports right outside, people seem to be really excited. What is wonderful about times square is things are happening here all the time. This is more active than normal but regularly we have exciting things going on. Liz on top of it an exciting market today. Nasdaq has 80 points. News corp. 21st century fox, fox business, lets talk about the superbowl. We have seattle and there are a lot of Nasdaq Listed Companies in those cities. When you look at nasdaq we have 14 listed companies, 21 in seattle, founded for all our companies. Liz costco, denver, liberty. Talk to me about what you look at when you look to be all the minutiae of statistics that come through on these things. All the ties to the afl and denver one of the regional teams as i root for them. Liz they are the underdog. I dont think they are true underdogs. It is a close game. I would not call seattle landed on. Liz you have noodles those were two very good ones. Theyre very vibrant cities. A lot of ipo activity and the spirit of growth and animation ensconced in both cities. There are great representatives of American Business culture. Liz so much talk about the Stock Exchange, how are you doing . Doing very well. When you look at our franchises broadening dramatically, last year, biotech was the standout, 98 of ideas came to the market in biotech but traditional industrials we saw our share of markets double from 20 to 40 so we see a broadening of the franchise, more companies recognize the value of the nasdaq listing franchise and the great assets we have here in times square. Liz nice to see some successful ipos but also how much excitement you get from the fact that facebook is doing as well as it is after a difficult and rocky start. Is a wonderful company. Clearly they are delivering on their promise, great credit for the Management Team and is remarkable how far they have progressed in a very short time. A see change with respect to the mobile and running top of that. Liz the idea was different. The quality Management Team, we have a problem and worked through it. Liz we talked about this last week in davos, and be a cue up 31 year over year. What do you see for 2014 . It is up 4 , 3. 5 this year. It is very strong start to the sify our premise and key thing from the position of strength, we have to do well in the transaction business, cannot neglect to that bud diversify into recurring revenue businesses. And 70 of business is recovering. Five years ago liz you are trying to stop it had you have Bigger Companies that may be charged less because of the volume they do and that get negative attention. If i look at that, freemarket working. We have that across the number of asset classes. Concept of volume based pricing, we invented it but it is not shocking, it is something we should do to treat our customers liz you are picking denver. I picked the new york jets but i might be wrong on that one. One from sentimental point of view, route 4 old afl teams, the offense denver possesses when you look at what Peyton Manning pushed with yards, that will be hard to compete against and they will come through under the spotlight. Good to see again. Liz bob greifeld, ceo of pride felt, closing bell ringing 28 minutes from now. Facebook stocks skyrocketing. This after the social network, most than half of the ad revenue, just how target by those ads, what does it suggest facebook knows about us and about Charlie Gasparino . He is with me at the nasdaq. Wait till you see the air when he has been getting through his facebook page, he has strong opinions on this, you have to see this. With a blizzard of Earnings Reports today with bigname like visa, google and amazon reporting we got or guidebook and we will tell you what is important to look out for. You want to make some money. Stay tuned, we are live in times square for a super bowl weekend. Welcome back. How is everything . Theres nothing like being your own boss and my customers are really liking your flat rate shipping. Liz back now live from the nasdaq, we were speaking earlier about some of todays earnings winners but on the bus busiest earnings day of the season, there are always some losers here. Nicole palnicole petallides. Balance has some names. Nicole take a look at exxonmobil down 1. 3 . Turns on exxon to the downside, profit dropped 16 , lower production, we can refining margins was not good for accent. Celgene, a different story here, they had revenue that improved 21 but their costs really added up, and so with that that is why they were to the downside, fourthquarter profit shrank. You may actually think of a drug that has been doing very well for them. That is their flagship lead cancer drug. That has been doing well and gaining shares for them overall. Back to you. Liz thank you, nicole. Since we are at the nasdaq we thought we would have some fun with facebook in particular by looking at some of the ads its been sending Charlie Gasparino. It must be good. Charlie i dont know why theyre targeting me with these ads. I got one for opiate addiction. I get a lot do you like, single women. I do. Liz i dont hate them. Charlie do you use steroids. The picture of John Travoltas head. Im asking people why do they do this. Apparently my crack producer says that facebooks ad targeting is more accurate than the industry as a whole, so i guess im giving them some reason, right, to be targeting me. Liz reading your emails. Charlie maybe it is my web searches . Liz are you searching steroids . Maybe all the herbalife searching. Charlie why the hot women . Liz facebook is jumping doubledigit percentages right now. Charlicharlie because of this w app. What were hearing from analysts talking to some analysts, lot of alice expect facebook to just keep doing these apps and to get a gaming app. They think that will drive earnings and drive revenues and all that. I will say this about facebook, i do a lot of work in a company during the ipo process. They did not prove themselves at that point. They had to prove they can keep generating revenue. The Revenue Growth has been slowing down. Stuff theyve done with mobile apps, with mobile advertising and some of the mobile stuff has shown they are real company. They are doing now what twitter has to do. You do have to prove yourself. One thing great about being a public company, you have us watching every day, quarterly results, show improvement on a lot of different metrics. They are starting to do that. Twitter is now going to have to do that. Liz did you hear bob great field talk about facebook . I am the only Cleveland Browns fan left. And a Cleveland Browns fans here beside cletus . He will be here in just 20 minutes, wait until you hear him. I look i think to myself how far facebook and the nasdaq have come because the nasdaq and land pretty decent ipos. Charlie right. I actually like bob grea. I call it like i see it. I think hes a very good ceo. What happened with facebook with the ipo hurt them, but here pretty good job saying technologies technology, things happen at the new york Stock Exchange as well. He is a guy you kind of want on vacation for me feel safe with him because you know he will address the issue. Nasdaq did take a big hit with the facebook ipo and the tech glitches, theres no doubt about that. Liz hot women, steroids. That are targeting you specifically. Charlie look at my facebook page. Liz i will. Charlie gasparino, thank you very much. I will send it back to fox business headquarters five blocks north from here where my after the bell coleader david asman is there. Stay tuned, we have some superstar nfl players and of course cletus the roa robot ring the bell. David i know he has a couple of female admirers that probably have an algorithm for him just for him. But we will see more of lives coming up up in just a moment. To the closing bell moments away, she will be closing that button. One day after google ceo larry page stunned markets with his decision to sell Motorola Mobility, he is going to be unveiling the tech giants new Earnings Report in just a couple of minutes. Will mr. Page pull off a Facebook Like surprise . We will be getting some answers next. And stocks rallying right now, have we reached a turning point for stocks . And for all the red ink we have seen so far this year, look at where the smart money is going as we count down to the closing bell. David the busiest day of earnings season so far, according to our friends about 67 of companies that have reported already have beaten earnings per season share estimates. Are we heading for a record quarter . Joining me to discuss all this fox business at dennis kneale, sandy smith, also with us, first eagle investment deputy head of global value team. Lets talk about Motorola Mobility. Google bought it for 12. 5 billion. They sold it for 3 billion. How much longer can they continue to buy high and sell low . Google is known a lot more for all those acquisitions bid it just bought the creepy critter Robot Company, all of those not sure id together to the billions of dollars it paid for motorola let alone the tubing dollars in operating losses the company ran up after google rocked control of it like a turn the business around. I think this is a mistake maybe of arrogance. They can go from their core business and go but an utterly different business of making cell phones at a very tough market. It didnt work right, but decided im glad the hemorrhaging is over. David the bworld are the ones w to get out of some before it is too late dragging down the whole company. This may be a sign of Good Management get it theyre getting a lot of credit for cutting cost. Can we really look at the earnings and say this is really a boost in production and that this is selling more widgets at the end of the day i was is because of cost cutting . David i know were talking about google and the earnings people reporting today, but lets talk about if lenovo can make Motorola Mobility successful. Can they turn around if google couldnt . Google had a hard time i typing that did we will see if lenovo can do it. Had 17,000 patent reports. 10,000 lesser pedants will go with this, but if that is one of the reasons you bought it, why introduce a new google phone at all . Only two weeks ago in january the cut prices where they are spending into europe. An abrupt decision to surrender. They have a core of search engine. Some represent options. David google, shouldnt everything you do come back to advertising . It is an ad network, yet many acquisitions the thermostat company, Robot Company have nothing to do with advertising. I got an argument with a guy that used to run their secret lab and said what are you doing, he said you are wrong, it lets us get buzz, people want to come work with us. I think some of that robot stuff it really will. It is not advertising. Isnt this a p. R. Thing to let you know it is cool and they have dipped their toes and a lot of different areas and not just the web browser Everybody Knows them four. David let me just ask you whether or not it helps the share value. Are they interested or is it just for p. R. Value outside the company . I think it helps with attracting employees and all that sort of stuff to have an environment that is conducive to innovation. David it gets googles cool back where it is not careful it will turn into microsoft, the overweight guy at the beach instead of the young stud. David amazon. This company just continues to sell like crazy but again the prophet is tiny based on wanting to build market share. Where do they decide it is time to cash in . What happened with facebooks wall street was looking only at growth, now wall street its going to look instead and say nevermind, growth, wants to see it how much you are doing selling. With amazon, we are still not right about how much profit are you going to make, with like the idea of expanding into everything. Now all retailers have razor thin margins. Google has some of, amazon has more warehouse. David they were not making enough promises did a lot of promises, wonderful gizmos but not a lot of profit. Liz look, amazon is doing something similar to google letting everybody know they are out there. What about the latest announcements to deliver the same day because they will know where you buy things at most, they will be intuitive. Amazon, you are a retailer, what are you doing making a kindle . David what about amazon profit problem, does it have one, is a perceived as a problem by wall street . For us, we are bottomup investors. Were always looking for margins in terms of what we buy between price and what we think the company is worth. Amazon is a Company Trading north of 100 times operating income. In its history it made 2 billion of free cash flow. That is miniscule. So does it deserve a stock value like we see . And yet, look at how much he missed out if we look at that parish of an approach. It is more commonsensical approach. You can buy a very Good Business but you overpay for it. You can lose money a lot of people learn that the hard way in it took bubble. Exactly, but is there a limit to which point investors say until they start making some money, we have seen enough market share growth, we will hold back. It does not deter every investor. I have been surprised a stock prices people continue to pay for some of these companies at the runup we saw in 2013. It looks like that has been relentless until last week with the biggest selloff for the dow in two years. People will look at the valuations of these companies. Dont bet against momentum stocks, that is what you have right now amazon, google, it is momentum. Dont go against amazon. David we will find out. We are told by analysts the range of the value the stocks could either go up or down six to 7 on both google and amazon from where they stopped trading today based on how those estimates look. We will be following this very closely. Thank you for joining us. Liz claman ringing the closing bell at the nasdaq in just a couple of minutes. Liz will be up in just a moment. We brought you facebook blockbuster earnings yesterday. Today we have google and amazon after the bell as we will be broadcasting the rest of the show from the nasdaq just in time for those earnings. Lets go to nicole petallides. Nicole, since were in a techdriven market today lets deal with tech stocks starting with facebook. Of course a huge jump after earnings. It was up 15 . It is only 14 to the plus side. What a great move for face pock, alltime high today. So much revenue came from mobile advertise, 53 and thats very telling. David were just about to get amazon earnings. That stock is way up too . Amazon looking good, up 5. 3 . David google up as well. We did see a rise in google as much as 44 a share. It has come down a little bit but not much. Google looking booed. Good. Were watching twitter. Pan dora is up 190 in the last 52 weeks, dave. David amazon and google could jump or fall 7 to 9 . There is liz claman. Look at our liz next to greifeld. There is the robot behind them as we look to the county down to the closing bell. There she is countying down. [closing bell ringing] oh, man.
