Nine names that are just green, thats it. Markets had been torn between solid manufacturing we got here in the u. S. This morning, october durable goods orders, big gigantic items that are supposed to last more than three to five years, washing machines, that number came in ahead of expectations in october rising to five month high. If you include things like cars and trucks and then take out airplanes, out of the equation, thats what happened. We did get some relief for greece. Finance ministers say yes to the next installment of loans essentially kicking the can down the road one more time, but for the moment the markets like it. A washington, a fly in the ointment, deal negotiations have stalled. Senate majority leader reid says little progress is being made so the fiscal cliff remains a distinct possibility come january 1st, keeping some buyers on the side lines as well. Thats what you see here. Coming up, governors cant afford to stall. They have to balance their budget. Day two of our governors on the edge, our series on how individual states are dealing with the budget mess. It is a fox business exclusive. Delaware governor has some ideas. You have to hear what he has to say. The nasdaq, trying to tune out all the noise. If the nasdaq can turn it around and post positive gains here by the close, it will be the seventh straight day of gains, the longest winning streak in 16 months, seven days in a row, and yes, i know, positive gains is redundant. Just seeing if youre paying attention. You know what . Somebody is always making money. Dont ever let the markets fool you. If something is down, somebody else is making money on the other side. Lets find out from our traders at the new york Stock Exchange, cme group and the nymex for our floor show. Teddy weisberg, who is making money today . It is a market of stocks, not a stock market. You have heard this over and over again. Somebody is always making money. I think the issue really is last week a short week. Congress was not in session, a veey positive week. This week, congress is back in session, the market has been under pressure. You know, were hostage to the politicians, the fiscal cliff thing is clearly a big problem, and my guess is, you know, they are going to hold this over our heads and investors heads you know until the very last moment and maybe or maybe not we will get some kind of compromise. I think the scenario continues to be negative for the market because they are going to drag this out and extract every ounce of Political Capital they can out of it until it gets resolved, if it gets resolved. Liz im always wondering what traders talk about in the middle of trades or when they are in the pits, and i guess the question becomes as you talk about the potential for us hitting the fiscal cliff and going several it, do you worry about disorder markets, markets starting to gyrate and cause real trouble or do you think because its been telegraphed so much that it might not be as bad as everybody thinks . It has been pretty telegraphed, liz. You do hit a good point in terms it could bring some volatility back. Im going to go with the camp that the hostages will be released. I agree with ted, we have all been held hostage by this. If you look at the election, i dont think the only mandate i really saw to that was both sides depending on which side of the aisle you are on are very angry about whats going on and the lack of leadership from any of our elected officials so i think it is going to be kind of a can kicking down the road liz but they will come up with some type of resolution. I think thats why the s ps are really holding on to 100 day moving average. We are a few handles below it on the s p today. Liz fox Business News alert merck is increasing dividend from 42 cents to 43 cents, for shareholders of record december 17th. They are the ones who are going to get this. You are starting to see this behavior teddy where yeah i Mean Companies are moving it up, moving their dividend gains or whatever they want to do for shareholders before that first of the year. I think its shareholder friendly, liz, but at the end of the day i dont think it means anything. I have lived with ordinary income tax rates on dividends for most of my trading adult life and 0 Interest Rate environment, you get a company that pays 4, 5 percent even after taxes, no matter how they are taxed, you are still way ahead of the game. I think it is a lot of noise about nothing. Liz elliot, what kind of noise are you hearing down at the nymex . I mean once again we are hovering around 87 a barrel. Natural gas took a bit hit yesterday, up a tiny bit today. Elliot . Can we hear him . We dont have his microphone. Bummer. But you know what he would say . My guess is as good as yours, liz. Thank you very much, guys. Elliot we will get you next time. Sorry about that. Look at him. Hes all bummed out. It happens. The hamster falls off the treadmill. Thanks guys. Chief investment strategist at morgan stanley, one of the most respected chief investment strategists says there are three ps that every investor needs to have on their radar. You moved some of your money out of cash and bond funds into what . We put money into european stocks liz and we put some money into high quality large cap u. S. Growth companies. Why europe . Number one, we think the valuations are at historic lows versus the u. S. And versus longterm averages, valuation. Number two, we think a lot of bad news is already priced in. Number three, greece seems to be another year, theyre going to kick the can down the road you said earlier. But greece they are doing the same thing. So the markets the spanish bond yields, portuguese bond yields, irish bond yields, greek bond yields, late on friday last week there was a comment that germany might allow greece to buy back some of their debt so those bonds went up. You recall on may 31st they were at 14, theyre now 32. They have overdoubled the greek bonds in price. Okay . The yields haae come down from 30 to 14. Where were going with this is we think liz thats not what you are investing in. No, but the backdrop, the backdrop seems to be making a bottom here. Okay . Secondly, we think china, which is a very important export market, okay, for europe, china is basically also making a bottom. So we think europe can make a bottom based on fundamentals of china, based on the backdrop calming down. Now, the Unemployment Rate in europe is still horrendous. Its 17 its 11. 6 , alltime high. That would indicate more stimulus would have to be forthcoming. These are the reasons why we like europe. We would be going with some of your defensive type companies, what im talking about is astrazeneca, azn the symbol, a Big Drug Company in the u. K. People are worried they are going to run out of product. We dont think so. That thing yields north of 5 , liz. Liz 6. 15 for astrazeneca. You are just making a ton of income there. We think the dividend is well protected. Secondly is glaxosmithkline, gsk, another u. K. Drug company. Were sticking with defensive type stocks within europe. And we are down playing the financials. Liz glaxo which is off its highs versUs Astrazeneca which is around its highs . I think you might want to buy stocks that have eased off a little bit. Any stock weakness that happens between now and year end, then we would accumulate. Liz you also talk about global gorillas. These companies with global footprints, brands, been in business for 150, 170 years. Companies like Procter Gamble 175 years old. You have got heinz ketchup, you have companies that have been they are found in your pantry and on our medicine cabinet. These are liz cocacola, all of these names . Well, our particular favorites are coke, pepsi liz we made you into a little gorilla. Okay. I love that. Global gorillas are companies with global footprints. They have globeized management, globalized supply systems, lots of cash, pay good dividends and been increasing dividends. U. S. , canadian, European Companies that are focused on the global economy. Liz exposure to europe . Exposure to europe, we think it is bottoming out. Europe is in recession, liz. It is in a recession. However, the Global Growth part, the gdp of the globe is 65 trillion. Europe is a quarter of it. 16 trillion. The United States is 16 trillion. So europe and the United States are very intertwined, but we think the u. S. Is doing better and that helps the European Companies. Liz we told people about the three ps, you say profits, production, personal income. I dont see fiscal cliff in there. You say this is what people need to look at. When you talk about profits, we just came through the Third Quarter which was kind of the worst in a couple of years we have seen. Third quarter was the worst in three years, liz, only up 1 10 of 1 with 97 of the s p 500 companies reporting. But profits we think are something thats got to be there for the market to have a sustained advance next year. Our number as you know is for 1434. It is at 1406. At year end 1434 would only be a gain of 2 , dividend, another 2 . Only 4 return from stocks. Profits, production, and personal income, that is jobs, jobs, jobs, which is corporate ceo confidence, which they lack right now because of all the regulatory environment. Liz david darst coming up with some picks. By the way one of his picks had you gotten in when he first told you to here on the show you would be up 23 . We will tell you what it is, if he still likes it, the man who is not afraid to wear a striped tie with a striped suit. David is coming back in a second. 49 minutes before the closing bell rings, an important question, do you think your hospital is safe . Can i help you . I heard you guys can ship ground for less than the ups store. Thats right. Ive learned the only way to get a holiday deal is to camp out. You know weve been open all night. Is this a trick to get my spot . [ male announcer ] break from the holiday stress. Save on ground shipping at fedex office. Liz lets check in with Nicole Petallides on the floor of the new york Stock Exchange. I guess theres one stock that is seeing a high energy rally today. Nicole absolutely. Were taking a close look here at Monster Energy drinks, liz. Everybody is familiar with their Energy Drinks. Most people have been watching fox business know that the industry in Energy Drinks and caffeine have been closely scrutinized. There were some deaths involved, though not directly correlated to monster but they were under some pressure. But now as fears of a crackdown are easing and worries that the administration will step in on these guys, that has been easing based on what the fda has been saying, then now youre seeing that this stock has basically taken this as good news. It is up 11 . So that is great news here for Monster Energy drinks. You may remember we talked about some folks who had come under obviously some health issues, preexisting heart conditions, and there were questions whether or not monster had caused their demise. Liz do you drink those nicole . Nicole i dont Monster Energy, i dont. Liz how about the other one, red bull . Nicole no. Liz nicole thank you very much. If you have watched me for a while, you know my dad was a surgeon, and he used to say if you want to get really sick, go to is a hospital. Go to a hospital. What did he mean by that . Healthcare associated infections like infections you get in a hospital when you are in there for somewhere else, cause approximately 90,000 deaths per year and cost some 4 1 2 billion dollars in excess healthcare costs but my next guest says a provision in the Affordable Healthcare Act is going to change that, yes, something good out of this thing, and its Company Stands to benefit because it is a product it makes. The former stryker ceo is joining me now in a fox business exclusive, steve mcmillan. The numbers were staggering i thought, 90,000 people die after they go in for one thing in a hospital and get some type of weird infection in the hospital. Thats exactly right, liz. With staph, mrsa, all these things, were effectively having a plane crash in this country, if you think about it. Liz all kinds of weird stuff . All kinds of various infections. People are getting concerned about going in for surgery because almost Everybody Knows a family member, a friend who has come out of the hospital and gotten sick afterwards. And we can now stop this. Liz david darst is leaving the set and he said a famous Market Participant in new york here, same thing, he got a hospital infection and died. And they are now preventable. We really think we have got the product that can help eliminate this. The Huntsman Cancer Center put it into their toughest unit they had in the hospital. Liz that was your test hospital . They put it in their bone Marrow Transplant unit. They decided lets put this in the harshest environment. They have completely eliminated their healthcare related infections. 100 . For over six months now, 100 . We know it can be done. Its a matter of having a better product that kills stuff to a level never seen before. The other part is its less toxic and safer than anything on the market. This product is actually approved for food surfaces, for childrens toys. Liz what is in it . I know you wont give your recipe, but is there anything toxic in it . No, the special magic is its less toxic. It is basically activated silver. Everybody knows going back centuries that silver has been a naturally occurring antimicrobial, formulated differently than anything on the market, but thats the single biggest breakthrough in technology. Liz this stuff is a thousand times the power of lysol. Hospitals are being told now that medicare will no longer reimburse them for hospital infections, meaning the incentive is now there for hospitals to clean up their act. You know from the past i have not been the biggest fan of all the healthcare provisions, but like everything, theres the good with the bad. One of the great provisions i think they put in this bill, and we are selfishly uniquely poised to capitalize on this, hospitals will no longer be reimbursed and need to report on the healthcare related infections. It is getting much greater scrutiny which will be better in reducing costs and improving care. Liz you are in hca hospitals . Yes, we are. Liz why isnt everyone getting signed up with this product . It is just getting cleared just cleared in california. Just bringing to market right now. Just got into a big ambulance system in tennessee this morning. Liz i have to ask you a question, doctor ties as in the ties they wear as they bend over a patient, the 20th patient of the day and that tie has some type of infection on it in many cases, isnt that a root of the cause of these infections . Ties, hands, bed rails. You know, by the way the safety of this, here we go. Liz did you just spray that on your coat . I just sprayed it on a very nice tie. Liz it wont ruin it . No. You think about the nurses, dental hygienists, everything, they are so used to dealing with bleaches and other things that have very toxic. This has no volatile organic compound. It is not publicly traded yet, however you are going to allow private investors to buy shares . How is that going to work and when can they do that . Yes, we actually have a limited private Placement Memorandum going on over the next few weeks for credited investors, very limited fashion will be taking in some additional money, but not from a broad scale. Im going to spray this all over the key board. David, its great to see you. Having been the former stryker ceo, the product is called steriplex, a thousand times stronger than lysol. Good luck to you. Keep us posted. Thank you, liz. Liz were coming back with so much more. The governor of delaware on getting ready for that fiscal cliff. Because they were in the past not funny. They are taking computers with an insensitive and permission to have been conference is. It sounds crazy but is completely true. With the u. S. Capital markets do you have copied at editors . What are you talking about . That was pretty funny. This is the agency that as criticism with Bernie Madoff looking at pornography on the job but its in pieces are filtering out because there is a major battle going on between the Near Stock Exchange and the sec. As a major computer breach. There are staffers and is one unit in this one department that have laptops that had direct access to the Near Stock Exchange and nasdaq. The entire architect architecture for Computer Systems systems, Security Systems everything right . But there was a whistleblower complaint in the ag came out to see that conferences were going to conferences including the the black hat hacker conference. The sec said they did their examination but they found no evidence of a computer breach. But the nasdaq does not believe that. I just spoke with michael trough he has dow been hired by the new york Stock Exchange to delve into this to get more information. Eight technology department. Automated systems of selfregulatory information . Automation review policy is the nasdaq and the new york Stock Exchange i think the sec should turnover tomorrow. One of the things i talk to turn off about is if you are a terrorist even if the sec made random checks they dont leave fingerprints. We hope that everything is hunky dory they have not been satisfied it is stupid if you think about it. Have you take that entire architecture and gooto conference . How does that happen . [laughter] like price waterhouse. I have no idea how that happens. One way to proofread it you read it out loud. Liz look at your office. Q2 brush your teeth in her. You are eating chinese food. Even better. I feel sorry for that moment. And pay her extra for that. Thank you very much. The closing bell rings and 29 minutes will congress get the budget deal in place by the end of the year . We have not see much progress and the state this have allowed stake it is day number two with governors on the edge. We are preparing but it is difficult to know how because we dont have the details of with the funding will be cut. Use said states are preparing to do tough things but most have to make tough decisions if we see a significant reduction have a vague impact in the message is there will not be enough of state money to make up the difference. Liz you felt the budget shortfall. How did you do that . Is on a much larger scale. How did you do that . It was painful. We had to agree on key principles to lead to a prosperous future and to protect those who were most vulnerable and me financially responsible. We have a aaa Credit Credit rating so we had to make cuts we are down in state employment for the first time to do 100 Different Things that will continue to be true for some period of time. You did come from the private sector employer number 13 at nextel. You got your mba then you turn to the Public Sector and now chairman of the National Governors association. How concerned are they . Biv ameristar highly concerned but they are not sitting back. The layout is to grow our way out. Their focus to continue the economic climate to focus on what makes the biggest difference. Liz governors are hesitant to offer it fights but a Sticking Point could be the point of 250,000 or more. You know, what that means. Would you bring that up at 500,000 like war buffett said before you allow the bush tax cuts to expire . I have not given that a lot of thought. But have thought of the impact on states. We want to make sure that if all that is done with a cough to cost shift basis theyre not deposition to pick up the extra cost. Were grateful and we have a call last week with Vice President biden and we look forward to continue to make sure our voice is heard. Jpmorgan chase and capital one coming to delaware. 20 million and where does that stand . This chris data point it is expected do drawdown where the federal department of energy it was not forthcoming last year. There at a point they tried to build up the plant in delaware. There is some uncertainty. Their winning terrific awards from around the country it is very fuelefficient but they have work to do on the funding side. They have a strong team in place. They have a strong team in place. Liz york Unemployment Rate is lower than the national average. Keep us posted. Liz it tamara we will hear from rhode island governor in a fox business exclusive and as we continue the governors on the edge this is to we want to hear from. American express shopping with Consumer Confidence heptane of four year hiatus a big laggard. Some of the stocks that were the best performers are going down in the final final trading days. Of the biggest winner is until technologies. The buyers are flocking to the big names one stock that has been beaten up is down 17 . With an interesting trend those that are getting a boost. But whether hes climbing everes scuba diving the Great Barrier reef with sharks, or jumping into the marke he goes with people he trusts, which is why he trades with a company that doesnt nickel and dime him with hidden fees. So he can worry about other things, like what the market is doing and being ready, no matter what happens, which isnt rocket science. Its just common sense, from td ameritrade. David and we are looking at close to sessions lows here. Looks like it might actually dip to the triple digit negative side, this is about the worst its been so far today, there was a moment when it went into the between at about 10 00, and then people started to talk bad about that fiscal cliff, and things went south.
