Always start off the sho, in southern germany at octoberfest, where drinking beer and singing on pop by songs are the order of the day. Now after a 2 year break due to the corona virus pandemic, thousands of people are taking part again. This year, the waiters at october fest have a heavy load literally not because they carry up to 10 of these giant mugs at a time. Now each of these mugs are filled with one leader of beer or your max reporter brandt. Dennis went to munich to find out how they do it. Press i whos got, im france dennis and i am carly and octoberfest in front of one of the oldest pence of the festival for the sudden hum, my job today is to be a waiter and i see some people carry 11 leading chunks of beer. Not only that, i have to carry a whole plethora of food. Im pretty nervous. So lets see. Here we go. Oh, hello. Im learning from a real pro, Alexander Christian has been awaiting the children, hamilton, 3rd, attendees. His day job is in advertising, but hes taken time off for his yearly gig. It oktoberfest prayer for you. So here we go. And my, i dont have the right clothes on. By the way, i know this is not the right address. Let me help you out with this one. Great. Okay, and then ill just put it on there. I think the tent seats are staggering. 9000 people and were serving 70 of them. But i 1st have to practice with most of water beers too costly to waste on beginners. Your put your hand inside. This one will be free. I got to press chris off. This are 6 sir. So its really urgent. The you can to the 7. Okay. So 77, for make sense whenever you get something look simple enough. And you do, we do have, youre a guy, you only 10. So you can go by 5, you have to take another 5, put them out, prepare the other half when i get so stick to 5 months water. Okay. Okay. I built some on me. So if thats real and i actually filled out what happened . Yeah. If you feel that you will lose your money actually lose my money comes out of my paycheck for all the be right. Yes, you got the paycheck at birth, then get the money back by the time the bar push on exchange is these green chips would be hundreds of them in the house. Each one later this year, the price of 13 years and 0. 60. Now the left me on my own, for my own free will to try and deliver it to the table. Im pretty nervous. Im taking a little bit. Lets see how i go. Okay, where are we going to . Why dont i think this isnt very heavy . Come with me each mug why . 2. 2 kilos. Its not easy carrying for one and then come to me now. Im not going to get 40 back. Ok. Thank you. Sorry, im no use of jobs. Like i said, tell me exactly how youre owning the money made from to pot. We get the percentage florida employer and we get the tip from the guess. The more happy to get the bit better. The tip earning whether is drinking, it has to be food and there is a lot of it being served around the clock here at my next job, the serving gross chicken, a real heated of that right . Oh, unfortunately he said not to me. I love chicken though. I mentioned his task would be a bit easier than the most important thing is that the chicken arrived at the table in one piece. Alexander christian reminds me on the way, and i did it with all without food. The main thing he is feed on average visit is consumed almost 7000000. Lead is during october, 3rd, and yours truly. Its delivering 10 of those. Its time for my big test. I be able to carry all the beers and make mistakes. Im pretty sure about it. Well then 2 hands, 10, b is 22. 00 killers. Lets go, ah, super heavy with mission accomplished. Why have no idea how you do that . No idea. Ive, ive met with how much money can you make as a waiter and activities . Nobody would tell me. But believe me, it would have to be a hefty some for me to do this again. What a day. I think ive done my Due Diligence in being awaited today. I feel like ive accomplished my challenge of carrying 11 lady, jugs of beer. But why would it be a waiter . A server next year at october 1st . Probably not. Im going to go get a bit. Ah, spending a night outdoors, under starry skies. Sounds very roam. And jake, at least if its not raining and there are no wild animals running about now, i must admit that i personally would choose a Comfortable Hotel over camping. But british, a travel writer, luke waterson, has discovered some original and even luxurious places to sleep with a view of the sky. And even i could imagine spending the night in some of them. Ah yes, it is possible to go camping deep in the wilderness and still not have to do without creature comforts. One place to do it. Is this former camping ground in Northern Island . How amazing what a view, beautiful bed. And this incredible nature, right on the dawson puff, camping has changed. It used to be just a field, a basic place to pitch a tent, and a puerto lou a place to get water a little more. Now obviously its so much more than that. Clamping is a term for camping with a touch of glamour. Its become very popular. Whether its a lodge in the mountains, a tiny house in the woods, or a micro lodge on the beach. There are many unusual places to sleep under the stars. Luke waterson of england has checked out a lot of them. Criss crossing europe and bedding down in the open air. Hes tested luxury outdoor resorts, as well as the most Beautiful Spots to camp in the wild. You can see here water fascinates me about her camping in the middle of her wild nature. Just look at this view. Ive got a lake to myself. Ive got my own special panorama that no one else is going to have food. And more and more people want to have it across europe. The figures for overnight stays in camp grounds, a climbing even before the corona pandemic, and registrations of new cap events have nearly tripled in germany since 2013. But nature lovers dont always have to make do with a no frills tent. There are quirky possibilities to cocoon, like beach chair here on germanys coast. Oh, for the feelers dangling over an abyss in austria. A bit cozier is a night and a decommissioned cable car in the swiss alps. Lieut. Waterson and co author kerry walk review over 200 such accommodations in a book for the Lonely Planet travel guides. What we were looking for was some of those more creative, back to nature experiences, ones that embrace different aspects of the outdoors, but arent necessarily just camp sites. It could be anything from shepherds hots to a 19 fifties fire truck in aberdeen sheer to a tree house. One of europes most luxurious accommodations under the open sky is the fin lock forest hideaway close to the shores of loc earn. Northern island. Second largest lake is a cluster of glass bubble domes. Gillian bare created them together with her brother on their parents, former camp ground that the little domes are so special and because of where they set and completely immersed within the nature of the forest. And theres complete connection between the gas and the inside. The 1st thing if they, when they wake up in the morning, is the sky. The trees us around them and hear the birds am and not complete. Immersion is, is just so you need to to any style of hotel room just as immersed in the forest is the spot. Luke morrison emphasizes the health aspect of spending time in nature. And there is scientific proof for it. In 2017 research has got 5 urbanized to spend some time in swedens forests. After just 3 days, they measured lowest stress hormone and Blood Pressure levels. Now, guests can stay in the hot originally built, especially for the experiment. Ah, what you focus on. A more basic thing, simple pleasures, just looking at the trees around you, looking at the looking at the birds listening to the wildlife, hearing the sounds of nature, and as a result of doing this, your you are relaxing in a way that you never full possible before ah, thats been law relaxation has its price starting at the equivalent of around 350 euros a night. A high and back to nature experience. I love while camping. I think the idea of just scanning a landscape, looking for the place where moors meet forest meet river and choosing your spot to just pitch a tent. That for me is absolutely authentic, genuine wild experience. But having said that, 3 days in the pouring rain, and im not going to say no to Something Like this. Now, one way to immerse yourself in nature is to simply dive into a lake. But a night on the starry skies in a bubble dime would be quite a bit cozier noon. Well, glancing is one way to go when it comes to travel. And another popular option is driving in a camper van. Now this is the dream of many tourists who come to europe, including 2 american u tubers whove taken on a special challenge. They are making their way through europe in an electric band. Now last week, they discovered germany and austria. And now their adventure continues on to italy. Ah hey everybody, eric and allison here once again, our electric campion road trip is continuing now ran through italy. Our plan today is the happened the band and had further south to get out of the crowds, off the beaten path. But 1st we had to make a very special stop here in the city of murano. Murano sits in the italian province of south t role here in italy. Its nestled in this valley between these huge mountains that surround it. Theres tons to do in the area, hiking to visiting wineries or you can do like us and head down to the old town, which is filled with all of these amazing structures spanning the century. Its absolutely beautiful. Yeah, it really is not a bad way to spend a day here in italy and you can check out some of the amazing castles in the area like this troutman door of castle, which is known for its sprawling gardens and beautiful panoramic views. Yeah, coming up here just for the views alone. Its totally worth it. You can see all the mountains in the area. You can see all the surrounding countryside and the gardens are incredible. They really do cover such a huge area to have hedge mazes over there. There are tons of beautiful, vibrant flowers all over the place and a bunch of really cool look up points. You can get an even higher view of the area. Plus there is an easy charging station in the parking lot here at the castle so well were exploring the beautiful gardens. Our cars getting all charged up. Murano is also known for having some absolutely delicious cuisine. So were gonna scroll around gardens a little bit more, and then im meeting with for lunch. We can do a restaurant called parser brown, which is right here in the old part of the town. The 1st step we have this is a sampling of all the local needs and a view of the cheeses. What were really excited for is this spect noodle. So these are bacon dumplings out of habit i use for my dumplings, but i read that its actually very emplace dumpling should cut on their own with a fork and using a knife is rude. I dont know if thats still true nowadays, but i got a beer here. Oh yes, we got a local beer and a local one to try. I. Alright, but now were going to head back to our trusty camper van. It wrote me a little update on the charging situation. So we told you guys we were charging while we were at the castle. Unfortunately, we did it something wrong or we didnt have a card. Right. And we did not really charge at all. Yeah, i have no idea where i am, im pretty sure the one way street. I am going the absolute wrong way. We had to go to a couple more spots and sadly the pumps were not working. But i think this one is going to be our lucky pump. You get the same when we use yesterday. So were hopeful were in luck. Where officially, charging thats one thing weve learned about this electric vehicle is that you really cant from the range estimation that again, weve gone down by about a little over a 100 kilometer charge. While weve only driven about 50 kilometers. So its going down about double as fast as were traveling. Fortunately, there are likely going to be that store tonight and tomorrow we decided to go for an air b me up in the hill so that we can see nice drive. I know you dont have to worry about charging for a couple days. All right, fingers crossed that our charge last long enough to get us to our destination. Maybe you guys with a little bit charge to spare. We are at the tip top of this mountain. We have arrived at our italian chalet we told you guys were going to try to charge our vehicle here. So this is what we had to do because theres no outside outlets. We got to plug up here. Got it going up into this is actually where were saying. So that is just plugged in right here to that outlet and it goes right on down to the car and of the say to charge um 14 hours, 14 hours. Thats awesome that and were super low. We have power blue we arrived and our amazing villa epic views all around of all the surrounding countryside. The fog certain role in the ring darting. But i think thats r q to wrap things up. So were gonna leave you guys here and we hope that youll tune for the next leg of electric camper band journey. Were going to be moving even further south in italy. Next. I and italy, of course, is known for its great ice cream and who doesnt love good ice cream . Well, pretty much in any season too. Well, you often have to eat it fast so that it doesnt melt, but that however is not a problem in is 10 ball. When you eat a special turkish ice cream called mar rush. Now, if you order a cone, it helps to have a little patience. An example grabbing an Ice Cream Cone can be an adventure even a little show to rush ice cream is so thick in rubbery. The vendors can surprise their customers with all kinds of tricks and make them laugh. And it makes buying ice cream, an event, an event that can take a while. I think its like, i mean, i think that i actually saw online and i went to trade show is impressive. And i think hes very good though. I hope things like this will be around for a long time. Sounds like this can only be performed with my rash. Ice cream more, dont warmer, a special centuries old. As a resident and olga flower mix it nearly as thick as gum, and it shows that it melts very slowly. This vertebra we put on a little show here, the ball. We scoop out generous portion sooner than any one who manages to catch the comb, gets the ice cream for free. Can do the own little bank of america along the way. We put the ice cream on the cone, wrap it in paper and give it to the customer. Do here you are. Enjoy the money off in the last trip. Come out of your group like the ice cream fell off. Its in this to make this kind of ice cream, goats and cows milk out boiled for several hours to achieve the right thickness. Then sugar is at it and select a traditional turkish ingredient made from ground up, her full. Okay, juba, that makes the ice cream even sticky rapidly. Nothing about the recipe for this ice cream has changed over time. I think it be just the thought is right. Of course it. The consumption of it has increased to the large 3 chin. A bit of the, so today a little we use machines to make it a doll thats much faster. See, i know them, but its, you know, to lamar, the ingredients have remained just the same as your, your own. The mixture is stirred and cooled for 10 to 12 hours. The consistency is nice and creamy, then perfect with to peel the temperatures very good to just the way marsh ice cream should be. The ice cream is flavored with pistachios, almonds, or one. So the customer has a range to choose from. Extends after storing it at minus 40 degrees celsius of us, we feed the ice cream until it reaches the right consistency. Your and we can portion it more easily than with. So as you can see where we work it until its completely elastic sooner or later, the customers always get their cones, unskilled to some of them sooner. This is america because of a visit to us is almost like a funny movie scene with the minded to people have a good time here and leave with a smile on the news. On my rash, ottoman ice cream and assemble, took everything off with a sprinkler fun and of course, it tastes good too. Since ive been living in germany, i like my surroundings to be neat and tidy. Even having a mess like this, lying around on this table makes me somewhat nervous, so ill just put it in order to quickly before we continue. All right, well thatll have to do for now. Well, the cliche about germans is that they love their order. They even have a lot of words and saying, which include ordinal oak. My british carlie rachel stuart, explored some examples on the left side. So must be order modeling of how believe older house is life out of everything in order to put in order. You are heavy in order ordinance, order put a lot in the german language. So other germans really as orderly use that phrase suggest to show money in some areas of life because without order chaos would engulf you indulge in germany. Yes. Its not always. Yeah. Because thats how it has to be worked with that order. The form on order is structure and without the structure a society would work. It wouldnt work. Even chaos has structure is in and for down and have always been taught to be orderly. Lets take a peek into a german homes with an orderly clever when you think of orderly, minimalistic homes, maybe you think of japan or scandinavia, but you know, the popular swedish Home Furnishings company, the one with all that, particularly all the storage solutions. Well, most of its products are sold in which country something that struck me when i moved here is the practically every german household seems to have a variation on this furniture items that way even collector can be orderly. An important point of order in the home is rubbish. Germans take transportation very seriously. You should separate paper flat good, organic waste, other healthways garden way, brown, black, green glass white glove bottles with deposits, electric way. Oh, and battery order is particularly important for people who live in a shed building a closet hallway, messy laundry room, or a battery cough. Cough show 5 ways to make enemies of the name of the building. House order rules will often stipulate which part of the stand youre responsible for cleaning. Who puts the bins out and whos responsible for keeping the patient outside or clearing it . No. This way, the ins and south west germany, even him up with the cova or sweeping week, essentially a cleaning rater. You might find that a cab assign appears outside your door if at night. Just a friendly reminder and then as noise, youve got to keep it down after about 10 p. M and all day on sundays and bank holidays. Each local government has a department dedicated to order the ordinance amped or office of public order among it by thus duties is noise control. So theyre likely to be the ones who turn out. Youre breaking the noise rules on your neighbors and have enough of course not all germans of such big fans of order. And there are times when the germans seem to flaunt the orderly reputation on mat. Taken easy, for example, when the street people letting a sheet fi, weapon owner with a parent and 0 regard for health and safety. Then as the pull to ob and a tradition of smashing crockery to bring luck to a soon to be married. Couple or of course carnival season when the supposedly straight laced germans put on crazy costumes and make a lot of mass in the street. But even then they cant quite shake their deep rooted orderliness. Because the last float in any carnival parade is sure to be the rubbish truck. With an were that its time to wrap up the show in an orderly fashion. Be sure to check out our website for this week draw and a chance at receiving a some d. W goodies.
