Right now what we got in washington weve seen a sizable growth of republican lawmakers suggest they wouldnt vote for the very bills that congress rang up, and a fiasco that harmed a fragile recovery in 2011, one we cant afford to repeat. Then rather than reduce the deficits with a scalpel by cutting programs we dont need, fixing ones that we do need making reform, making government more efficient. Instead of doing that weve got folks who insisted on leaving in place a meat cleaver called the sequester that has cost jobs, harmed growth, its gutted education, science and medical research. There is truth to that. There is a lot of gutting going on, cenk and it is affecting a lot of key pieces of legislation that the president would consider on his legislative agenda. I hear you on that, but listening to his speech, i was trying to wake up. Ive heard this a million times. Im not blaming him. Hes got to do it, and its a preemptive strike. Hes basically saying, the town halls are about to start in august. And the republicans love to get people riled up. There is a new memo that they discovered among the republicans saying make sure you plant three or four friendlies in the town hall about how terrible obama is and how great the republicans are. Hes doing the barn storming ahead of them, oh, yeah, theyre the terrible ones. Hes got to because apparently the main street press in washington theyre so blinded by their neutrality. Even, even oh, the republicans well put them out there all summer long. On the substance obama is 100 right on this. They wont let him pass anything. If youre obama is this the tact you take or a more aggresstive one . Cenk oh, well, you know me of course im going to be more aggressive he would have a literal meat cleaver and a whole scalpel. As to how i would be tougher, i would be so much more aggressive. If i could, i would use the audio visual and run a clip of boehner saying jobs, jobs, jobs, in the 2010 elections, 2012 elections. The president unfortunately i think keeps hitting the same note gridlock, gridlock, gridlock. That was his other point in his speech today. Over the last six months, this gridlock has got worse. I didnt think that was possible. The good news is a growing number of republican senators are looking to join their democratic counterparts and trying to get things done in the senate. Thats good news. For example, they Work Together on an immigration bill that economists say will boost our economy by a billion dollars strengthen border security, make the system work, but youve got a faction of republicans in the house that wont even give that bill a vote. And that same group gutted a farm bill that americas farmer farmers depend on and americas children depend on. Cenk i think people are going to tune it out. Theyve heard gridlock over and over. Its hard to get excited about the middle class tour for the middle class. But over the six months this gridlock has gotten worse when i didnt think it could. During the complain he said, if i get reelected the fever will break and the republicans will see there is no point in trying to defeat me. Jayar, do you remember him saying that . Every day. In the message that he gives this is something that derails what he does as well. First he says congress has this gridlock, its not my fault. Theyre the reason why everything is going wrong. That means we have a legal case. This time its about Aaron Hernandez. Im not here to talk about the fable angle of this, but the probable cause hearing that was supposed to happen for Aaron Hernandez. It did not turn out that way today. For more listen to abc. The objection is delayed. Former aaron patriots Aaron Hernandez remained motionless. They found was boxes of ammunition consistent with the caliber that was recovered at the homicide scene. Reporter the 23yearold is accused of murdering semi pro player oden lloyd in an trial park last month and Court Documents reveal one of his two accomplices hernandez admitted to shooting lloyd. And police wonder if lloyd was killed because of information he might have had about a double shooting last year. Like a fine wine the best thing you can do for a case is age it, but in this case the defense is pushing for the probable cause hearing to happen while the prosecutors want to build their case. The judge allowed the prosecutors to keep the case continuing. Aaron hernandez was not saying so much, but listen to what he had to say when he did have an opportunity to speak. This is a place that not only did it change my future from them paying me, but it changed me as a person. You cant come here and act reckless and do your own stuff. I came here acting the way i wanted to act but you get changed by the patriot way. Now that im a patriot im living like one and making the right decisions for them. Cenk all right apparently not. We talked about this case and all the Different Cases that involved aaron Hernan Hernandez and there is evidence floating around. But when you look at this particular case, if the witnesses are solid, then theyre okay. But if the witnesses are not solid, the coconspirator saying that he killed the guy. Do they have a lot of on him . I think they do. If im the defense attorney i say these are gang banger drug addict losers and you cant trust what they have to say. Of course theyre going to point the gun, point the finger at Aaron Hernandez they want to save their own hides but you have bullets matching the bullets at the scene and they were found at his house. They dont have the weapon, but they also have the deleted detective, a destroyed phone destroyed surveillance camera, all the destruction of evidence which prosecutors will be able to allow as consciousness of guilt. Cenk im totally with you. To me its guilty and the case will get past the grand jury and to a real while, but as im looking at it im not positive theyre going to get him. If they dont if they release him, wow right . The defense wants you on the jury. Cenk i dont know that we need a conviction on anybody any more after all these Different Cases. Now as i looked at his appearance hes deflating a little bit. Zimmerman inflated during his trial. He deflated. I think he has gotten considerably smaller. Its not that they dont have weights in the jail, but he cant take steroid. Interesting. He looks smaller much smaller is an overstatement. He has been in solitary confinement and they have been advocateing for to put him in general population although his attorneys are not arguing about that. Cenk thats interesting. Lets talk about the patriots angle. Bill belichick was asked about it during training today. Now of course the patriots are aaron, hernandez . I dont know who that guy is. Here is the abc report. Its really a sad day on so many levels. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the victim and i send my sympathy, really, to everyone who has been impacted. A young man lost his life. Theyre the one who is ordered the tests. They have concerns, and they put in his contract all kind of ethical standards and behavioral standards. He tested dirty and he was the 113th pick . Sure enough, this exceeded every level of radioactivity you ever could have imagined. Do you propose a blanket suspiciousless collection of all americans phone records. Thats a great request by congressman amash. And he got on fox business, and heres what he said there. Congressman, how do you propose to defund the nsa . Were going to have an amendment the department of defense appropriations bill that will defund the nsas collection of american phone records. Its targeted specifically at that operation which is unconstitutional. Okay, when these agencies give money all funding is fungible so you can actually go inin and surgically say this part of your operation you can no longer do or well no longer fund it. Thats right. The language is specifically tailored to he keep them from using funds for that purpose. Cenk thats an ingenius way of doing this, cutting funding. Now the Obama White House nsa went into red alert. Oh, my god, we got an republican on this so they might win. If its just democrats worried about Civil Liberties oh, democrats, about you oh, my god its the republicans. The white house put up this statement cenk i know, youre all so reasonable as you shred the Fourth Amendment this is them saying fear mongering, theyre coming in here, no no, its not a blunt instrument. Theyre totally wrong. This is a rare case where republicans and democrats come in using scalpels, this is wrong and well take away funding to do so. In my opinion, its perfect. My opinion came close to mattering but they did not. They had the vote in the house 217205, really close but they lost and the administration and the establishment and the nsa won again. I think maybe theyre convincing me, at least the Obama Administration, not the policy, but they believe all of these lies, or things they need to do. Maybe theyre finally buying into their bs. There is a fear. They know its circumventing the constitution. They know its illegal, they are thinking they have to. Something is going to happen to us, and if something happens to us well be destroyed we cant let another american die. Theyre believing by any means necessary it has to be done. Cenk jayar, you know who else believes that, dick cheney, the 100 . If there is even a 1 chance that somebody will get hurt, then we have to make sure that we strip away all rights, all american principles to make sure that we dont suffer that 1 chance. Thats when rights are stripped because of fear engendered in the government. They have this flawed argument, the monster in the house and theyve stripped away a lot of rights and build the military Industrial Machine even further. Its tough to swim up stream against that. The one thing that is transcends any partisan divide is the fear of being at the wheel when the bus crashes. Thats what the president fought against. He fought against that 1 doctrine when he tried to get elected. Then he saw the book of all the National Security threats, and he said, omg lets keep it as it is. Cenk im blunt about the president all the time. But i dont think he thought, oh my god what if americans are hurt. I think he thought what is something happens and my, my my political career is hurt. Michele bachmann had something to say about this. We cant deal in false narratives. And a false narrative is submerged that the federal government is taking in the content of americans phone calls. We need to deal in facts. And the facts are real. And the facts are these the only people who have benefited from the revelation of classified information the only result is that those who are engaged in Islamic Jihad will have been benefited. Currently the university of Southern California is facing a civil rights allegation following complaints that the university ignored rapes on campus even after the aggressors confessed to their crimes. The way they were treated by administrators and Campus Police is i dont beyond acceptable. Here we have the ways they mishandleed the situation. The University Made me feel raped a second time. She said her evidence included a recording of the suspect admitting the crime if. But the investigation dragged on for six months finding that i did not meet the preponderance threshold despite the evidence. Reed reported it to the lapd at said there is a separate investigation but so far in charges have been filed. There were a number of ways that the Campus Policethey said things to the victims of these crimes, and some of the quotes are horrendous. One student went to the police and said she was raped at a frat party. The police said perhaps even worse one student was raped, and she was told this so if youre at a frat party and if he doesnt orgasm its not rape which is good for her thankfully when he stopped she thought that was almost the most traumatic event of my life. Obviously this is horrible. Now thanks to these students coming out not at this university but answer many other universities around the country it seems there is a discussion on the rape culture that is happening. This is sick, nonsensical bull crap. Im a recent graduate, and when one in four women experiencing Sexual Assault this makes College Attendance itself a reason to have a risk factor for Sexual Assault. Thats just not okay. School is no long arrest safe haven. Cenk you would think that College Campuses would be the most vigilant to make sure that it doesnt happen. Its hard enough to deal with the Sexual Assault. From what everybody has said, reports, just personal experience with talking with people in general its hard enough to deal with the Sexual Assault without the university, the police where place where you live, where youre supposed to be having the best years of your life, without the institution making it worse for you. This is a big story in the military, and there was a tsunami of rape case there is, and the way that government and the military handled it, its interesting. These institutions, they close ranks, and they turn on the victims. Im wondering if there isnt a little bit of that going on here. When i say little bit clearly its happening on the College Campus and University Institutions across the country. I believe that is part of it. You see at some university, not at the University Level but in steubenville they wanted to protect their athletes, and sometimes athletes at universities are the perpetrators of these sorts of crimes. But furthermore many of the universities that have these sterling reputations like harvard, they dont want to admit that it happens there. Even if you handle the investigation and punishment correctly, then youre at an university where this many rapes happened, so youre confirming a negative thing about you. You take the right steps to end it. Parents will feel safer sending their kids to the campus because thats the one university doing something about it. It just didnt make sense to me.
