And even though both the pro clinton ready for hillary pac and the anticlinton stop hillary pac are already working as if shes running for president in 2016, hillary herself has made no moves to forecast her plans. Awful while on this noy wieners wife is sticking by his side, his Campaign Manager has called it quits. Danny ket um resigned over the weekend in the aftermath of the news that weiner has continued sexting long after his dropout from congress. He has responded by trying to shift the conversation away from shakeup and on to the issues facing the people of new york city. City Council Speaker Christine Quinn now holds a 9point lead over weiner for the democratic nomination and says he has disqualified himself not only for his behavior but because he only passed one bill in his 12 years in congress. Theyre raising 100,000 to train hundreds of teachers to carry weapons and be able to shoot shooters in cross classroom shootout that no doubt will end with everyone fine in the first grade art class. Representative tom cole, republican of oklahoma says there are appropriate ways to deal with the law but shutting down the government to get your way over an unrelated piece of legislation is the equivalent of throwing a temper tantrum. One new jerseybased pro gun group is promoting a contest in which one possible prize is a firearm thats illegal to own in the state of new jersey. This ad is for the stop the gun control madness gun give away hosted on the Firearms Policy Coalition web site. It reads that the winner can choose from one of three guns including the sixth hour m400 enhanced rifle with a 30round magazine, a threaded barrel and a folding stock, all illegal in jersey. To enter, contestants have to register with the coalition and send a form letter to governor Chris Christie opposing gun control legislation. Well, the sweepstakes is sponsored by a group called the California Association of federal firearms licensees but that group is just one of several member organizations of this larger Firearms Policy Coalition and another member group is the new jersey Second Amendment society. It is confusing but essentially one group is promoting this entire contest and it is allowing people to possibly win a gun thats illegal in jersey. The web site says all federal, state, local and municipal laws apply to the contest. Nothing on the flier itself indicates a limitation on the contest winners choices. I think it was the New York Times asked the president what are you going to do to help make healthcare reform more popular. He said were going to implement it. It is really thatcism. These are things that people want and need. I wish republican lawmakers would stop obsessing over the political gamesmanship and start taking a look at the actual policies that will do a lot of good for a lot of people. It is basically bob doles plan. Right. Anyone who is obsessed with the policy of it should take a look at what it is. Were essentially giving want to be outraged . Were giving subsidies to private insurance companies. Be outraged about that. Stephanie i think Eric Boehlert tweeted about were seeing again, more and more states where premiums are going down. People what talk about free market rules and how we should allow companies to compete. Thats what the exchanges are doing. Insurance companies have such a huge monopoly. As opposed to competing to see if they can be drive down prices. The exchanges are forcing people to participate to bring their costs down because were finally starting to take a look at what things actually cost for should cost. And it is starting to bring things more in line with a reasonable premium level. We have an amazing staff of people working on the campaign. Stephanie apparently he offered several women a position on his staff. Over the weekend. Because his Campaign Manager quit. What do you think . Is he going to stay in . I think it is dwindling. He said i didnt send them. My account was hacked. Stephanie interestingly, i got a lot of email about your comments last week. You were hard on huma and a lot of people were like i heard from a lot of women that of course have been in all kinds of different situations and dont judge until youve been there and yada, yada. Obviously, you could tell on the sunday shows, a lot of people in washington, really like her. And feel bad for her. But you stand by your comments that shes complicit in some way . Well, yeah. Theres two parts to this, right. I dont know her personally. I do know she is wellknown and well liked in d. C. Circles film and i do think the media has a bias. They know her personally. I think theyre unable to detach themselves. I was on a plane yesterday and able to watch unable to watch a lot of the morning tv i usually watch on sundays but i do know there is a particular bias in reporting from what ive seen in the week past because they know her and like her. The second part of this, i want to make this very clear, you can choose to do whatever you want in your own marriage. I cant judge her choices because if she chooses to stay with him, thats her choice. I think what hes done to her is horrible and disrespectful. If it were me, i would have walked away but im not in that marriage. I cant make that decision. What i have a problem with is people calling her brave and strong for staying. People who are qualifying her decision to stay as something thats beneficial. Something that is good. And casting it in a positive light. I dont think a woman should be judged on how much disrespect shes willing to tolerate. Stephanie i think that what a lot of people talk about is the baby is obviously a significant issue. You want that man raising your child . Certainly not the role model i want for my child. Stephanie im a childless looser. I wouldnt want you raising any child. You know what i mean. Is a home with a man who i find disrespectful to women and dismissive of women and especially disrespectful to the woman who he is supposed to be most respectful of, his wife, not a particularly solid male role model. But at the same time, again, she can choose to do whatever she wants in her personal life. I have no qualifications to pass judgment on that. But what im passing judgment on is how other people are defining her decision to stay. I dont think it makes her strong or brave or admirable in any way. I think it makes her pathetic. Shes chosen to be on the campaign trail. We live in a society where this woman has every right to make her own decisions and choice. There are certain ways to get yourself out of the situation. If you choose to. She didnt have to do anything. The journalist told abc yesterday that lowlevel contractors had the capability to read emails and listen in on calls and while there are legal procedures in place to stoppagists from snooping, it doesnt mean somebodys minding the store. The real issue here is what the nsa does is done in complete secrecy. Nobody monitors who theyre eavesdropping on so the question of abuse is one the congress aught to be investigating much more aggressively. Well, report last night, cumulus which is one of the Major Players in radio, talk radio, thinking of dropping limbaugh and hannity when their contract is up at the end of the year. There seems to be you know, a public squabble about how much they want to pay. But of course, the background is cumulus ceo has been very vocal for more than a year now talking about how limbaugh is he cannot they cannot monetize the show. They cant get the advertisers theres ought to for a program with that big of an audience because of the sandra fluke fiasco. And so he has been on the record for a long time being unhappy with the limbaugh show, et cetera, et cetera. So this could be public posturing. Stephanie negotiating, right. Negotiating. We want a lower rate. They might still keep him. Cumulus has tried to grow their own talent, their own right wing talent they would like to put in some of the slots. So it might be public posturing and limbaugh and hannity might end up on the shows. But the other point is you know, this has never really happened. I mean, when limbaugh was the king of a. M. Radio, you didnt negotiate in public because you wanted a lower rate. Stations lived in fear of the day that premier, his syndicator would call him and say were done. Were taking his show across the street. Because that collapsed your entire a. M. Lineup. So weve gone from please, god, dont let Clear Channel take Rush Limbaugh away from us to hey, lets negotiate in public because we dont really need the show. To me, that is telling in terms of what is happening and how the largest one of the largest aim broadcasters now view limbaugh and hannity. Stephanie let me say as a radio insider, i know a lot of whats going on, if it benefits me, im all for it we talk about previously, chris and i have said this, old radio warhorses, advertiser boycotts hurts everybody in radio. It has hurt us and everybody. Particularly progressive shows are on a lot less stations. Advertisers leave talk radio, period and basically, thanks, rush its gotten tough for everybody. It is sad because they figure well, you know, a. M. Talk radio, if youre Johnson Johnson or whatever, one of these target youre a huge advertiser, a. M. Talk radio is a relatively smaller portion of your advertising budget. So you know, a problem pops up on a. M. Radio. A. M. Talk radio. And then they say you know, exactly as you said. It is unfortunate. I wish they didnt do it. They say lets cut the talk. Rash than saying Rush Limbaugh is a problem, keep us off that show. Honestly, lots of National Advertisers do. Do not put us on Rush Limbaugh. But yeah, i think some take the easy way out and say well, lets just get out of talk radio. And that hurts everybody. Obviously, you know, talk radio radio advertising is a little more complicated. You have local, national, regional, syndicated spots. All of the big soup. It is difficult to keep track of all of those ads across the country. But theres no doubt that you know, i dont think i have no doubt that if it wasnt for the sandra fluke incident, you know, 15, 16 months later, cumulus would not be talking about dropping Rush Limbaughs show. Stephanie absolutely. All right, more bad news for the right wing. Growing number of states reporting lower than expected healthcare premiums. Oh, no. Just when the republicans are talking about shutting down the government in order to defund obamacare. The thing that seems to be working, paul krugman had a good piece up over the weekend. Talking about the republican healthcare panic. So the assumption was that you know, theyve tried to repeal it 37 times because theyre so committed to their philosophy and theyre so, you know, opposed to this form of healthcare and thats why thats why Mitch Mcconnell is writing letters to the nfl so they dont help people understand, they wont run ads during the Football Games so people wont understand what the law the theory or the feeling was that the republicans are just you know, they so oppose this legislation and thats why, you know, this extended effort to kill it. Oh and the flip side is they might be trying to kill it because its going to work. Because it is going to bring healthcare costs down and it is going to be this defining possibly this defining success for obama and then where does that leave the Republican Party . As krugman points out. In years, they havent come up with any alternative whatsoever. Tried to explain what they would do if they did repeal. The truth seems to be seeping out here. And as these healthcare costs come down, the republican panic is really you can see it for what it is. It is a political panic. It is not a Public Policy panic. Stephanie i was reading somebody this morning that i mentioned, eric, talking about the fact that you know, literally, if they do this, people that remember when the republicans shut down the government under clinton, they said they could lose the house. Is that possible because of gerrymandering because im like well, good, they may have to burn the village. I dont know. I dont know. Thats one the gerrymandering is just such a huge problem because it just gives the Republican Party complete blanket coverage to do or not do anything they want. And to sort of bring the house to a complete stand still and the polls show, you know, what is it, an 85 , 87 disApproval Rating for congress. But theres no indication that any of that is going to change. Stephanie interesting, side offshoot, you think is going to come out, this whole Chris Christie and rand paul, this Libertarian Tea Party wing versus whatever the establishment is. They seem to have quite a civil war going on already. That really erupted late last week. Theres three or four distinct factions. The libertarian, the true right wing tea party. I guess Chris Christie is going to position himself as sort of the traditional east coast republican, you know, somewhat socially liberal but stephanie it is what passes for diversity in the Republican Party. All of the war and factions. They need to splinter further, have a bigger tent of diversity. Yeah. It will be you know, and then where does fox news fit in that . Theyve been big fans of rand paul. Complete cheerleaders for Chris Christie. So thats going to get complicated if those two come in further conflict. Of course, fox news essentially gave birth to the tea party movement. Stephanie you notice what i had. I think peggien into has passed her expiration date. Gotta love peggien into ans noonans be optimization. Shes doubling and tripling down on the i. R. S. Scandal. About a month ago, she called the i. R. S. Scandal with my air quotes here, as the biggest d. C. Scandal since watergate. And youre like okay. That doesnt really make a lot of sense. Weve had actual scandals since then. And then last week, she wrote there was this big bombshell revelation about some ties to the white house. Media matters pointed out, the bombshell she was writing about, she had written about two months ago. So she wasnt really advancing the story. So her most recent column, she sort of defendantly waters the whole thing down. She says this is the biggest i. R. S. Scandal since watergate. So it is no longer biggest political scandal since watergate, it is now the biggest i. R. S. Scandal since watergate. Which is kind of funny and not acknowledging her hyperbole in the past. Kind of signs off and saying this could be going she envisions how these investigations are going to be going into next spring and next summer and obamas really going to regret it because it is going to cost them the house. And you look at the state of this scandal and you know, obviously theres no there anymore. Stephanie exactly. Loved your tweet, oh, the irony. Racism doesnt exist. Right wing sites, dont look at the comment sections which are crawling you wrote a great piece. Move over climate deniers. It was out in full force with this whole Trayvon Martin situation. In the wake of the verdict, first through they continue to smear Trayvon Martin and smear his character saying you know, he got what he deserved. Then there was an interesting segue into trying to expand, you know, the debate about race and basically, you know, a theory or a talk point that had sort of been on the fringes for years which was racism doesnt exist in america. And it has been solved and any time its brought up by liberals or democrats, it is just a political ploy. So that was just completely mainstreamed after the zimmerman trial. So this is a way to shut down any debate to try by just announcing, you know, that trial couldnt have been about racism because antiblack racism doesnt exist in america. We got a letter from someone, sal fewtation salutation, hey, n word lovers. Stephanie goes to their point that racism clearly is over with. You also say you know, there was no good way for gun appropriates to spin the death of an gun proponents to spin the death of an unarmed teenager. Here came this 16month campaign to smear a dead teenager. Yeah. And that was a way to make it so Trayvon Martin sort of got what he had coming. He was a thug. And there was a way to send a message that this case wasnt important. It is not worth getting all excited about. It doesnt say anything about you know, Race Relations or guns in america or anything like that. And it certainly didnt play into the right wing narrative which are minorities pose the physical threat in america. Rush Limbaugh Stephanie president obamas violent africanamerican base as you call it. Yeah, right. Thats how Rush Limbaugh has portrayed it for years. So we had a black unarmed victim shot so that doesnt really play into the right wing narrative which is theyre the ones with the guns and theyre the ones posing the physical threat. So the whole thing had to be turned around and sort of sadly, you know, the victim was made the victim again. Stephanie yeah. Caller a lot of people seem to be implying that the wives and partners of these people who cheat somehow or another knew. Jacki said huma knew what she was when she married him. Stephanie i dont know if we know that for sure, do we . Right. Exactly. My comment is you know, people who cheat, in my experience, go out of their way to hide this from their partners. Theyre not making it obvious. They have all kinds of ways to try and hide it. Stephanie in your experience, what do you think the truth is . I dont know whether jacki meant later, you know what she knew obviously as they were Going Forward with this mayoral run. Do you think she believed him that he had stopped and had asked for forgiveness . Interesting question because if you look at her statement that she made, she said you know, she and her husband have been in couples therapy for quite awhile. She said it has been a lot of hard work to try and get through this. It really it really called into question a lot of things about the marriage. Stephanie as a couples therapist, what do you think of this going on this soon into their marriage. They just got married, didnt they . Not that long ago. I dont know how long they were married before she became pregnant. I dont know when they got married. I dont know the history of it. I dont know how long theyve actually been together. But i do know that by the time people make a commitment like that to one another, the intimate relationship has lost its complicated threads to it and we look at it from the perspective of you know, he cheated. We see this one aspect of his behave and certainly, if that was all you knew about somebody, why would anybody stay with anybody if that was the case . Stephanie i have one paula, i have one friend, many years ago that i dont remember all of the details. I remember it was sort of a situation of her husband freaking out like almost immediately when they got married, as maybe some men or people do about commitment and started in his case, whether it was cheat or a lot of erratic behavior. Do you think hes always been like this . I have no idea. Except i can tell you that ive seen a lot of that kind of behavior also where people, when theyre about to go through life changes, whether it is particularly around having their first child which is a big, perhaps the biggest change in a relationship, even bigger than getting married is having the first child. So you know, it is possible. I dont know really anything about Anthony Weiner. I live in boston. Stephanie im speculating, too. I had a friend that went through it. I dont know if whether the double commitment of getting married and having a baby that quickly. Im not making excuses for him. Maybe hes always been like this. Right. It could happen. I just want to say one thing and that is that i think that the right wing will hop on this to try and discredit Hillary Clinton in some way and if we buy into that, i think were making a huge mistake. But if you take office and youre expecting them to have integrity and your opinion of integrity is you dont cheat on your wife. You dont jeopardize your marriage. There were a lot of people obviously in those circles, they didnt get it in the first place before this came out. What is she doing with him . Right. Ive been really enjoying the show today and i just wanted to comment on the discussion you were having with jacki about whether or not i mean obviously dont know why she stayed with him and im not going to comment on that but whether or not she should have stayed with him just because she had a baby on the way. I have to say i think i really agree with jacki on this. This notion when a woman has a child, she should just accept stephanie anything. Caller right because we have this societal notion that some father figure is better than no father figure because we have the expectations for men, especially for men as fathers.
