President obama is traveling to illinois today for the first of three speeches on the economy that he is set to give over the next couple of days. First up is knox college where the president spoke back in 2005 when he still was in the senate. Todays remarks wont feature any new initiatives as lawmakers head back home to convene with constituents. The government is going to hit the debt ceiling once again and the new fiscal year starts october 1st. President obama hoping he can generate enough public support and momentum to push past republican obstruction. Back in washington, the house is scheduled to vote on an amendment that would stop the nsa fromution the patriot act to collect records of people not under investigation. Name for its sponsor Michigan Republican representative justin amash, the amash amendment is under consideration as part of the overall debate on the defense appropriations subcommittee bill. The president has issued a statement asking house members to reject the amendment calling it a blunt approach that would hastily dismant alkey counterterrorism tool and not the results of an informed, open or deliberative process. The house considering amendments today that would limit military aid to egypt and to syria. And speaking of the nsa russia says Edward Snowden is going to be allowed to leave the moscow airport. The nations federal Migration Services has reportedly issued an official pass which means that the nsa leaker can lead the transit area where he has been holed up since june 23rd. Also reporting that snowden is going to get new clothes. This is all according to a russian source. Were back with more show and more conversation about Anthony Weiner, im sure, after the break. Besides the sexual stuff, if my husband was saying to another woman ive met the perfect woman in you. Youre smart youre sexy, you are crazy. Im married to somebody else. He would be getting something other than a press conference, ill tell you that. Why did you have to bring the wife up . Stephanie he sent the girlfriend the People Magazine story about the great reformed husband and father he is. Check this out. What do you think about me being a family man . Get me what are you doing later . Heres my issue with everybody saying oh, he dragged her up. Im sorry. But shes a grown woman. She can make her own decisions. This is a choice. This is a decision she made. I dont care what choice he makes or what decision she makes but lets not pretend shes not a grown woman with her own free will. And theres no victim happening here. What hes done to her as her husband, shes allowed to be angry and upset about that and make her own decisions with regard to that but stabbing up there with him and but standing up there with him nobody is forcing a grown woman to do anything she doesnt want to do. Total lack of respect for that. She looked like she was going to throw up. Well then dont do it. Stephanie this was like in real life, youre going really . Like after this public shaming and you know, again with the baby . So many elements of it and i was talking about at the top of the hour, the language he used. Oh we had this very public thing happen to us. Its like wait a minute, kimosabi. We . You did a really public thing and humiliated your wife again. Also, in his previous mea culpa, he said theres going to be more stuff that comes out. In this one i told you there would be more stuff that would come out. But all that happened after the Previous Press conference. Stephanie like a serial killer telling you i told you there would be more bodies. He hasnt learned a lesson. Theres two problems with this. One is that anybody calling her brave and strong is totally misguided there. Is nothing brave and strong by. Allowing someone to repeatedly disrespect you. I dont think that makes you brave or strong. Stephanie i pointed out on cnn last night as a childless loser myself, perhaps i cant judge. The first time she made the choice, she has a baby on the way. Okay. I cant stand in her shoes and make that choice for her. Now, it just seems like oh my god. It is not even that. Make the choice you want to make but stop calling her brave and strong for allowing a man to repeatedly disrespect you. That doesnt make you brave or strong. The other part is i know a lot of media people in new york and d. C. Know her and like her personally. And lot of them are making excuses for her and lot of them are saying things like it is unfair what hes doing to her and it is unfair hes forcing her like they refuse to say shes taking responsibility for her own choices. And i find that, you know, inherently disrespectful to her as a woman and to all woman to assume we cant make our own decisions. Stephanie pop psychology drives me crazy. She works with hillary and hillary taught her, this is the template. You dont know personal aspects of everybodys personal life, you know what i mean, jacki. I think the media who know her personally are more inclined it is almost like they dont want to believe she would be this much of a pushover and allow herself to be walked on in this way because if you read the messages it is so disrespectful and it is so thoughtless and it is not just cheating. Cheating is one thing yes. Thats a whole other conversation but youre actively having this sexual conversation with somebody that is just outwardly disrespecting your wife and youre in the public eye. Stephanie jacki obviously last time, there was no evidence he actually touched anybody. Did he have an affair with this woman . No. There was no contact. Apparently they talked on the phone. There wasnt any actual stephanie because last time, i thought hes guilty of being in eighth grade. I thought it was weird from the beginning, the whole like what are you doing . Youre not actually having a physical affair but youre sending pictures of yourself . It seemed weird to me. It is disrespectful period. It is a disrespect to their marriage. It is a disrespect to her as a woman. It is a disrespect to their child. It is a disrespect to the people who have put some faith in him as a political figure. Hes just a scumbag im sorry. I cant forgive stephanie certainly goes to his judgment. In terms of the fact that hes staying in the race is almost the most incredible part of it. How can you not look at this and go this guy needs help. He needs some more help. Intensive therapy. Not in political office. How would you ever trust his judgment . Exactly. It is a narcissism, really at the highest level in terms of not appreciating his responsible for his own actions and thinking somehow hes above any sort of culpability for this behavior and you know, im disgusted. Stephanie i loved him politically. He was great. Did i too. I thought he was great. Stephanie he was a fighter, i liked that about him. Thats the hardest thing is i think we all were willing to cut him a break the last time. Go okay, he didnt really have an affair. Bad behavior. Again, when you buy the whole hedemption story now we feel like idiots, right . Yeah. Look i have a real problem with these politicians getting back in after some of this behavior. Somewhere along the way, we have to stop forgiving men who treat women poorly. Stephanie i understand we normalize the behavior and we continue to reward the behavior the behavior will continue and get worse. Im just not okay with that. I think it is a larger conversation about what we allow in modern day marriage or relationships. It is one thing to make a conscious choice to open it up. It is another if youre disrespectful of your partner. Stephanie you were sharing some of the actual texts with me. Theyre somewhat less than lets say feminist. Yeah, exactly. But if youre sexting with a 22yearold and youre asking to do these dirty something thats just incredibly bothersome about all of this. The role of her want to talk about her role in all of this, she is complicit. I dont know and i sort of tweeted it out last night when i first heard because i was on a little bit of a tear, die understand how we can judge a womans strength based on how much disrespect she allows herself to endure. Stephanie people sometimes say about people in therapy, i dont think its taking. Like rehab does not take to Lindsay Lohan very well. Or amanda bynes. Shes really on the crazy train. Stephanie yeah. Well, im just going to guess and again unmarried loser but my point is youve been in relationships though. Stephanie when she says this is a very difficult time. Im guessing it was distinctly unhelpful that he was still sexting other women during the difficult, im guessing that was a down on the ups and downs which i would have found it distinctly unhelpful. When you start sexting four days before a People Magazine expose on your sexting thats a problem. Stephanie right. Use that as a p. R. Piece to send to your girlfriend that youre sexting. But you cant expect that this is not going to affect peoples view of your judgment. Stephanie i dont know. People say oh, is it personal . Theres private and theres public. But thats some pretty horrible Decision Making and weve all made horrible personal decisions. You know what . Bill clinton stopped once he got caught redhanded. Anthony weiner did not.
