Enfranchisement, most notably of which was even though men of african dissent could theoretically vote women were not allowed to vote until well into the 20th century. This is a memorial to the Texas Legislature in 1884 by the under signed committee of colored men. I guess that is kind of a predecessor of the black caucus. And theyre asking for regress on several issues that pertain to people of african dissent living in texas at the time. This small news print leaflet or hand bill or broad side entitled handicapped was published by Texas Equal Suffrage Association in about 1919 in advance of the vote, upcoming election by texas male voters about whether women would be given the vote. Of course, as we know the 19th amendment was ratified giving all women in the United States the right to vote. Some of these people are bob dylan, president john son, Barbara Streisand we have science, we have the crew for being the first humans on the face of the mun. We highlight marshal nuremburg who not only cracked the genetic code but he also won the nobel prize for his work. Charles schultz is probably one of my favorite parts of the exhibit. Wern lucky enough to get two of his original sunday comics and a pair of skates that illustrates he was a lifelong amateur hockey fan. And thats something that we tried to do within the exhibit is to find one object or one document that speaks to the accomplishments of each person. The importance of an exhibit from the 60s is to show how americans, 50 years ago, completed work that is still relevant in the 21st century. For example, in the early 60s, at t launched the first communication saturday lite which was the precursor to the electronic age that were experiencing now. Satellite communications, cell phone reception, Worldwide Television resemgs and internet service. His prototype was invented by magnavox. The magnavox odyssey was the precursor to pong and pacman and all of the video games that are on the market today. This book brought National Attention to the plight and the problems caused by the pst side ddt. Which, in turn, kicked off the modern Environmental Movement which mrs. Johnson, during hr time in the white hougs and afterwards, had championed this movement and other environmental type programs. Ladies and gentlemen, the beatles.
