It isnt a great plan if you are over the age of 62 or you are a hardworking family trying to make ends meet. A, if you live in a rural area or you have not had an illness like cancer or Heart Disease or diabetes or if you are a woman, 23 million americans will be left high and dry out of healthe insurance by 2026. They dont think trump care is a great plan. To them it is a mean the plan. Actually, those were his own words several weeks after the rose garden celebration. Since day number one of the 115 115th congress, republicans have had the Affordable Care act in their sights and so has the president. And they tried to do away with the rights and benefits under the aca but there is good news. The American People have rallied and called and emailed and have gone to town halls, they marched and made their views known and shared their stories and so farl they have stopped republicans from gutting our Health Care System. Just this past saturday in my home state simultaneous rallies in opposition to the place in 20 counties. I say to them keep up the fight and i will continue to fight as hard as i can. We need to do all we can to stop this attack on healthcare. Ys the consequences of offending our Health Care System are enormous. They are enormous for the 20 million americans who now have healthcare because of the aca through private insurance and Medicaid Expansion. Erable trump care hurts the most vulnerable, the elderly,ew disabled, and those with fewer resources. The consequences of cutting and restructuring medicaid are enormous for our economy. Won six of which is related to healthcare. They are enormous for hospitals that rely upon the thirdparty reimbursements under theospita Medicaid Expansion. Or these hospitals need those revenues. And even more so for the rural hospitals that keep their doors open thanks to the aca. And the Indian Healthcare Services facilities that reduced wait times and services because of the aca. But the majority refuses to hold hearings and they are blocking no Public Participation. This is unconscionable and undemocratic. Before the republicans and democrats voted on obamacare,tte the senate held 100 committee hearings, roundtables and senat walkthroughs. The final senate bill included 147 republican amendments. A the majority leader has missed an opportunity for political and moral leadership on one of the most important issues we face. Senator mcconnell should have an been honest and open process including Senate Committee hearings. With full Public Participation and a chance for patients to Tell Congress how this proposal impacts them. Not hidden meanings or limited debate and the simple majority vote. All of these are critical to maintaining Womens Health and the health of their babies as well. Mexico needs those that are covered by medicaid 72 of all births in the state. So the services that are now available to everyone are essential. Trump care would repeal the cost of the requirements for the Medicaid Expansion population. Not only would this repeal at risk but it would result in increased medical care overall. Preventive medical Services Save money in the long run. The Affordable Care act requires insurance plans to provide a range of essential Health Benefit for women these required Services Include maternity and newborn child care. But trump care would allow the states to apply for a waiver to define their own essential Health Benefits beginning in 2020. So the states can choose to exclude maternity and newborn care and when it would end up paying more for this care. The result is women not getting the care they need. Would cut medicaid funding to planned parenthood for one year. Planned parenthood provides for medical and Reproductive Services to women and men and planned parenthood clinics provide a safety net to low income women. According to the cbo cutting off the payments to planned parenthood for one year would mean a total loss of access to services and some low incomeiese communities because planned parenthood is the only public provider in some regions. Take away enough from albuquerque new mexico, she old found when she was 30yearsold and in law school she had a gene mutation that puts her at a much higher risk for breast and ovarian cancer. The treatment includes a, vasectomy. She got her Cancer Screening and decided to have a mastectomy ha and if trump care becomes wall she wouldnt be able to have this potentially lifesaving surgery. If she has had a lapse in coverage for Medicaid Expansion coverage will be gone. Mr. President , Public Schools and schoolchildren will be hurt by trump care. Schools are now eligible to receive funds for Necessary Services for children with disabilities. Schools are reimbursed for vision, hearing and Mental Health screenings. These help children get Services Early so they can be ready to learn. Right now new mexico schools are reimbursed 18 million a year on medicaid. But under trump care states woul schoolsas eligible providers and the cost would be on the schools. The problem as the schools cannot take on these kind of costs. And that might mean hundreds of schoolchildren each year will go without vision, and Mental Health treatment because no one else will be able to provide them. The superintendent of the district in new mexico says, and i quote, medicaid funding is vital to our continuum of care and service to the majority of the students. Often the school nurse is the only medical professional or student ever see. Mexico has one of the highest populations in the country. More than 10 of the residents even though many native americans receive health care through the Indian Health service, ihs has not always been able to provide needed care due to the lack of funding.
