I would have 14. 5 and might have working. 5 for individuals pretty would be very simple. Youd fill out one card and we would get rid of 70,000 tax codes. Im also for lowering the rate of the tory burden. No person should be allowed to regulate an industry. They should have to do their congress. Ive legislation called the raines act which would save any president does it and its going to affect the economy has to be passed by congress. There are things we could do to bring aback when i get a question way to know the exact answer to maritime issues im also open to what do we do . We figured out what it is we do. Im for lowering the burden on both. The young lady back here. I saw the movie to take short recently and what i loved about that movie by feeling was the lack of government oversight and the lack of government regulation that put us in that. [inaudible] bankers on wall street will tell you, iowan doddfrank made stronger, not weaker. I think there does need to be more oversight and more regulation particularly of government. The Federal Reserve i think was the key progenitor of the chaos in 2008. If you look at what happened, didnt just happen 2078. Built for quite a while. If you look at the average home price from the 1930s on it does those and it gets to 2000 stewing to send 2003 is doing this, 2005 and 2007 its going almost straight up. Thats absurd. Never happens in capitalism. Never happens an unregulated free markets. Interest should fluctuate like the price of bred. If im building houses and ask next header and there are 10 House Builders and 2003 in and there are 20 of us in 2004 and 30 of us in 2005 in everybodys building houses everybodys competing for the money to build houses and for homeowners to own them. What should happen to the price of the money click for price of the money should rise it is the price of the money raises Interest Rates rise and what should happen . Slows economy down. This is a cycle of the economy that happens natural under capitalism. Interest rates are the most Important Information disseminated through the entire economy. As a physician i liken it to insulin. Interest rates are like insulin. When you e a meal your blood sugar rises in insulin rises after it and you get a cyclical effect. A medicine may cause homeostasis. Its maintenance of balance. It happens in capitalism so when i look at this hume i not agree with me but its an important debate. Was this too much government or too little government . Was as too much manipulation of government on Interest Rates are too little . I would agree with you to a certain extent on classical and things that allowed, the reason i agree is not as a simple regulation but when you allow things to do Investment Banking you tell the taxpayer we are responsible for them being bailed out thats a problem. The whole concept of too big to fail is a problem. Its still there. We passed doddfrank but heres a counterintuitive part of doddfrank. Everybody says the big banks needed and went to make sure they are safe or so they dont fail and drag us all down. The Bank Regulators and now applying regulators of the big banks of the small think that if you have a Small Committee bank in exeter they may be struggling with all the regulations and is more expensive for a single bank to comply with regulations than it is jpmorgan. What happens . But bank swoop in and buy the small banks. Counterintuitively the big banks are still getting bigger. I think one thing we should do with is Something Like glasssteagall. I wouldnt do it the old way of what i would do is if you have a big bank i would tell you that we have taxpayer insurance, fdic insures your deposits. What i would say is we are going to ensure your deposits but we will only do it if you have a division of your bank. So you will only get it and then maybe if you are depositor in a big bank and you say we dont have insurance on my going to deposit with you its a way of doing glasssteagall but theres a way of structure strict restructuring it. There also needs to be a plan of bankruptcy for the bank sprayed when the bank bank comes up tomorrow and everybody scares you to death, people say they have to bail out the big banks are the same people that didnt predict a big banks whatever problem in the same people that didnt think was this problem having see registries for 10 years are the same people tell you youve got to bail out the big banks and heres a middleclass getting stuck with the bill. The other gas station in exeter or restaurant you go bankrupt nobodys come to bail you out so its an unfair system. Its complicating what the answer is but i do agree with you in some form or they think something more has to be done about too big to fail. It still exists in the problem of some of our regulations have made the problem bigger. Not on purpose but has an inadvertent result of some of the regulations. A bit to agree the more has to be done and im trying to figure out with others if we can get something done about it. [applause] he said banks are more dangerous than standing armies so give people the power to create money out of thin air and they control the world. How do you take that power away . Government issuing of debts to foreign and domestic . Meem when the constitution was written they said had to be of gold and silver. They do mention it explicitly in the constitution. We kind of got away from it than we have a paper burn thing. For while but Paper Currency was exchangeable with gold and silver and for a while for a while to set the currency is backed by the full faith and credit of the government pretty via anonymous government is not running a deficit that could go on for a long time to does the government becomes less and less transparent and less honest it becomes more worrisome. The joke i have now is once upon a time the dollar was backed by gold and now your dollars backed by used car loans and bad home loans. In two dozen and momentous crisis the fed bought 4 trillion worth of assets. Assets are good. Assets are like bad home loans. Some people argue that the price of houses or home mortgages that the fed owns may not than the market to market. They may not have gone to their bottom value. Theres some danger we live in a state will. We have come back and in many ways people are building again. We have virtually zero Interest Rates and we have all of the stuff the fed owns. The fed owns so much stuff, trillions and trillions of dollars they are free to sell it there are free to tank the real estate market. They are afraid free to sell a big if they know what the actual value is at the time. I think theres a possibility some of that occurs over time. Dont know of i have the ultimate answer other than im very concerned about the fee on currency we have now and whether or not would have been somewhat of an illusion of wealth that could come crumbling down in a dramatic fashion like what was about to happen 2008 in some ways 2008 a lot of people did suffer through that for many years. We are getting a spread of terrorism on the planet. The saudis are celebrating years by executing the shia. You mentioned in this year in your debate. You are the sponsor of the bill to declassify the 20 pages which talks about the saudis putting an end to this terrorism which they have been sponsoring. Will you do what senator gravelle did with the pentagon papers and babies into the congressional records to stop the financing of terrorism . What she is referring to is pre9 11 there was an inquiry by congress. Top graham is a democratic senator from florida. Hes got a great book. His book Intelligence Matters was screened by the cia in the government and he wrote a lot of stuff they could find from public sources that he was allowed to reveal. The bottom line in this book you will tell you they were to link between saudi arabia and 9 11. Theres a lot of suspicion. 16 of the 19 hijackers came from saudi arabia. This is important only think about going back and there was financing to look suspicious as well. When we think about the middle east there is extensively our ally. Its important to understand whats going on over there. The Syrian Civil War the government is alive with shiites and assad is aligned with shiites iran and iraq read the rebels are sunni and allied with saudi arabia. This civil war saudi arabia qatar in the u. S. Poured tons and tons of weapons many of weapons and it was one of the mans of isis. Saudi arabia has executed a shiite cleric that was calling for elections for an overthrow. He had not committed terrorism. He was a protester in their country and they executed him recently and they have a shiite minority within saudi arabia. There are some danger of that erupting. What i would say is commanderinchief saudi arabia buys all kinds of arms from us. It has to be approved by the president who buys arms from us. I would only sell arms under people that are going to bathe and do the right thing. You dont put them in indiscriminately and if you do you dont get any more of arms from us. On the floor of the congress right now. Have introduced legislation to bring it forward and i would suggest it be the will want to know about the 28 missing pages for the lot about everything if you read Intelligence Matters you get a lot of the gist of the 20 pages. I will continue to advocate for it when i probably wont read it on the floor but i will continue to advocate for a bill that does it. Read Intelligence Matters also. Its important to learn from the past and the only thing it sam nunn 11 were always made me mad as a citizen and makes him as a senator is no one was ever a fire. Not one person was ever fired. Can people here make . Just on the same issue i think it should be put in very simple terms. Senator bob graham said very clearly that at the 28 pages have been released then isis would not exist, the people who ran 9 11 and murdered 3000 of our citizens would not be running free today to continue the mass murders policy they are purveying assisi in the middle east. That considered, what possible excuse could you make for not using your authority as a senator to read the 20 pages into the record . You have the authority. We dont need a bill which as you admitted earlier is not going to go anywhere because harry reid is not going to do anything pretty good read into that record and i mean this with full respect senator come every member of congress who refuses to release this information and in so doing to bring an end to this mass murder which was responsible for our own citizens being killed and is threatening millions of people in the middle east on every single one of those People Killed by isis and it was killed but the saudis on 11 their blood will be on your hands and on the hands of any member of congress who refuses refuses. Im the one that interest introduce the bill to repeal is on the wrong target. Im not your target, im your ally. If you dont know who your friends or you are not going to get anywhere. Let me finish. The only other thing i would say with the saudis and this was a big thing, the reason why this is important also is our reaction to 9 11 was to ask all of you to give up some liberty. It was to ask you to let us collect your phone records and look at all of your private belongings in records in order to stop terrorism. A lot of 9 11 was failure to do this stuff that normal cia and it be i should be doing. To the people from saudi arabia lived in san diego for a year with an fbi informant, with an fbi informant. We caught people trying to fly planes and not land them also from saudi arabia, also for some some also some also from france. People made mistakes but no one is going to be fired. It doesnt really work that way. In some ways they say we dont have enough it via agents come i would hire more but i wouldnt look at your phone records and spend billions of dollars looking at all your phone records. If you need more fbi agents was get the money to do it. For tsarnaev boys the brothers in boston tipped off by the russians, who flew back to chechnya and the public sources he was plotting something against the country, and the big advocate of privacy but if im the judge and you call me goodnight to tell me this im going to look at his records. If any of them look suspicious am a guess but if you azimi cumulative everybodys records in boston i may know. Its not that im against going after terrorism and looking at them individually. Lets have more agents looking at specific threats and not get overwhelmed by all the data of all of us that confuses and overwhelms us with information. I have time for one or two more. Right back there. [applause] first i would like to thank you for coming to exeter which is really refreshing considering last nights uneventful visit by the clintons paid second of all and i know you talk a lot about this but really i would like you to talk a bit about the information bill introduced to the senate in october and written into law by president obama in december and how u. S. The primary opposition of hills or of cybersecurity and our nation plans to have concrete plans to counter this. The questions about cybersecurity and a pass for cybersecurity actually as part of the big spending bill. It only got put into the big spending bill. My concern about collection of information is whether or not theres due process in the collection of your information and with the sharing of information i dont have a problem with sharing of information but i do have a problem if the data that goes along with it has a lot of personal information about individuals. I think there is a way and i think there already is a way of sharing information that theres a certain type of virus or worm being worked into the code and theres a tape meet for that ill meet to plot to share ways to combat that. I think there are ways of doing it but one reason i dont trust the government with more of the information in the way they set up the bill was that the government hasnt been good at protecting information. The office of Personnel Management allowed access to 21 million names including all my personal information to a hacker which means they are not doing a good job of protecting their own. Business is good that because they react quickly and they will lose money people steal their stuff. Target had a problem and others have had a problem. I think i trust business more than government with that nimble nature but i too think there can be sharing of information. There are not enough safeguards and lack of privacy. Ive got time for one more here. Understand planned parenthood donates money to hillarys Campaign Paid do you have a problem with that . A little. [laughter] [applause] it gets back to Campaign Finance reform. If they are getting different money should they be elective contributions . Maybe you can sign this is where not going to make a political contribution. They would save the money is separated by the problem is that hard to separated and say none of this is going for abortion. They also tell you that 97 of the things they do are not abortion. If you look at it in monetary terms its like 90 of what they do is abortion because they are counting apprenticeships are getting Birth Control pills is a procedure in their vast numbers of things they do predict a look at searchable teachers they do 100 is abortion. I dont think government money should go to the metal. You could defund them if you are going to use the letters of the purse. Our leadership in washington says you cant defund them because you cant get to 60 votes but thats not really true. Spending expires at the end of every year. The bill that passed in december lets all spending expires. The second it expires everything you want requires 60 votes. Still you can shift the balance by letting spending expired. Holding your ground insanely wanted government to put up as it is possible that the lesson we did at the democrats said we have to pay her shoulders and get the money to continue to exist and within two days they pass that put a couple of days later we were like we have to pay people Social Security checks or medicare may pass that but when it comes to the emotional stuff we could say thats past the stuff we agree on and get the stuff we disagree on maybe it will take 60 votes to get to the disagreeable stuff. Solso how you get rid of waste in government to be spent 43 million on a natural gas gas station in afghanistan last year. Whoever got the money for that should probably be in jail. They said they estimate the cost would be 500,000 per to cost 43 million. No one will ever use it. There are a few cars in afghanistan and no cars or run a natural gas per to mention trying to have business snacks that are and you build a natural gas gas station. If you build one right now no one is going to use it. Well go to waste. 43 million. They spent 800,000 in afghanistan last year for a televised they dont have televisions in afghanistan. With businesses that of our borrowed money from china to send it to afghanistan and . Please been a couple hundred thousand dollars to study the japanese quail to see if there are more promiscuous on cocaine. I think we could stipulate yes. [laughter] thanks everybody for coming tonight. [applause] k everyone thank you so much for coming out. Their blue cards in your seats and volunteers walking around. They will make themselves obvious. Its a movement in movement takes people so put your name on that card and help us all out. Thank you very much. [inaudible conversations] [inaudible conversations] [inaudible conversations] [inaudible conversations] [inaudible conversations] [inaudible conversations] [inaudible conversations] [inaudible conversations] [inaudible conversations]. On road to the white house rewind, we will look back to the 1984 president ial campaign and debate between a Democratic Candidates in iowa. The person to replace that my on has to the trust of the american people, private promises and public statements for the Public People it has to be the same. For our weekend schedule go to cspan. Org. Up next, bill clinton campaigns for his wife Hillary Clinton in New Hampshire. Mr. Clinton talked about the state of the president ial race and also the economy and national security. This is a one hour event. [applause]. Wow, you are on your fee. I want to see if we can do a little experiment here. There is a huge overflow upstairs, huge overflow upstairs, can we hear you, overflow crowd . [applause]. We heard you. What an event. Thank you for coming out, thank you for coming to the town hall, this is where president speak [applause]. Thank you all for coming, thank you to president clinton for coming here today. To talk to us about the importance of the selection. Hillary clinton and her staff, organizers, supporters and volunteers have worked tirelessly for the last nine months. We have have a crucial 36 days ahead of us. Thirtysix days, that is just over 400 Daylight Hours left for all of us canvassers out knocking on doors. As the campaign enters the final stretch the stake for New Hampshire pam was cannot be higher. Our country faces difficult and complex challenges, like sharing a broad prosperity with all of our countries people who are willing to work hard to get ahead. Like the dramatic increase of Substance Abuse in our state and nation, and and how we are going to do that. Like in Adequate Mental Health care for those who need it, and of course guns falling into the hands of people who should not be allowed to all men. Americans need a president who has what it takes to get the job done. As voters in New Hampshire watch the republican candidate push an agenda that is out of touch and out of date, they are going to be asking themselves, who is tough enough to take them on and make a real difference for working families . That is Hillary Clinton. [applause]. President clinton, i was looking at a photo of you and hillary back in your yellow law school days, yes it was that one. You both looked looked so bright and hopeful, just like the two of you look today [applause]. That photo got me thinking about the path the two of you have each taken. You both could have gone anywhere, you could have followed any path, thankfully the path call to each of you was the path of public service. [applause]. You were each called to address the issue of prosperity, hope, and justice through service and government at both the state and national level. You both chose to put your lives, your fortune, and your sacred honor at this service of the thing we call government. Of course, that government is nothing more and nothing less than what we all agree to do together. Such a choice that hillary has made, and you and maybe better yet maybe invite mutuality commands me in this moment to make a similar choice. Hillarys campaign, a campaign by, and for the most capable, visionary, and experienced candidate in many a year, her campaign beckons me to pledge my life, to pledge my fortune, and to pledge my sacred honor. That is is why i have been out knocking doors, and talking to my neighbor since this past june about hillarys extraordinary campaign. [applause]. That is why i will continue to knock doors for her until february ninth, then hopefully all the way to the general election in november. What you all join me . [applause]. No one knows all of this better than her husband. President clinton knows the stakes are higher than ever this election year. He knows the people of New Hampshire want a president who will create shared prosperity so that everyone has a chance at a brighter future. He knows that Hillary Clinton is prepared to do that job. Everyone, please welcome back to New Hampshire, someone who needs no introduction, our 42nd president , built clinton. Thank you very much. Everybody sit down. First of all, thank you dan for that wonderful statement and for your support. Thank you russell and jackie weather sin for your service in this community and through our country. I want to thank tom for being here for his support for hillary and for being first gentleman of New Hampshire, it has a a nice ring, dont you think . [applause]. People, i get nervous, if hillary wins the election what you want to be called . I said nobody has voted yet, im superstitious. I want to thank all of the organizers who are here and especially christopher the good work she has done. I want to thank all of you who came out on this cold night, its is not really too cold by New Hampshire standards. The people upstairs who gave us an overflow room, thank you. [applause]. This is quite a group. [laughter] look, every time you have an election people tell you its important. But if it is a directional election, it is important. Very often the winner of an election is determined by what people decide its about. It seems to be clear, you look at where america is today, we went through that terrible crash in late 2008, we had come out of it in a sense that growth, the number of jobs that have been lost have been replaced. We avoided falling into a depression. We put. We put in new protections against financial crash in the future. We have made some real exciting progress in the challenge of climate change, creating new jobs in climate energy. But we still have not gotten and comes back. We still dont have broadbased prosperity again. It is, i would argue the major challenge facing the country in the next president. If everyone has a job, something to look forward to in the morning, it reduces the tension and increases the hope in the country. [applause]. It makes people more secure and less likely to disintegrate our community into separate groups of resentment. I see all of these movements that say i like, i like all those young people and black lives matter, i i think what they are saying is important. [applause]. When you see in on armed young person get 17 bullets in one of our cities and another mentally ill man who should never have had a gun that was in his hand running away from the police and have 32 bullets fired at him. Then you see the heroic performance of the Police Officers in the aftermath of the tragedy at san bernardino, you know we have to do something to pull it back together. I feel the same way about all of the young immigrant dreamers who want to pursue their education here [applause]. I feel the same way about the progress that South Carolina made when they took the Confederate Flag down after speech by a republican woman, four minutes long, who is a direct descendent of the president of the confederacy and davis. She said essentially, if i want to take it down we should take it down, you you know it is the right thing to do [applause]. Why my same is . Because to have broadbased prosperity, you have to have inclusive economics and more equal opportunities for people to take advantage of. To make it work, you have to have Inclusive Society where we relish our differences, but when our chips are down our common humanity matters more. I was really proud of hillary for being the first candidate, for example to propose a comprehensive plan to help all of those Coal Communities make a transition into a new economy. Those folks havent been voting for us much lately, she basically said i dont dont care, your americans, you deserve a chance. So when there is discrimination against africanamericans, hispanics, or muslims, just because of who they are, i do not like that. But we never can forget that what we have to do is unite the police in the community, unite business and labor, unite this country. That is when things happen. When you have inclusive economics and occlusive society. In order to do that you have to have more inclusive politics. So, the big job for the next president is to give us those things. Inclusive back announcements. Inclusive society, inclusive into protect our country in a way that protects our values. It keeps big bad things from happening, and wages the battle we must and billions of lives through social media throughout the world, for what kind of world we are going to live in. A world where what we have in common counts more or where differences come more. A world where we just get all atomizing hunker down in our bunkers where we still have our hands outstretched. That is what i think the election is about. If you decide that, then you have to ask who is the best person to do that job . [applause]. Heres why think that. I think at first because she spent a lot of time traveling the country and listening to people, just like she did when she was a senator for new york. She. She traveled the world when she was secretary of state. She has a good economic plan. Said okay, we have to cut our greenhouse emissions so we have a plan of her kids and grandkids, how the wide world can you create more new businesses and good jobs them by changing the way you produce and consume energy and other local resources. Its the greatest opportunity our country has ever had [applause]. Today, iowa, minnesota, and the oil capital of the country, texas get 25 30 of their baseload electricity from wind. It is from wind. It is an enormous competitive advantage for them. The kilowatt hour cost and i was about 5. 8 cents. It is 13. 9 in new york. That is the highest in the country. Our neighbors in the caribbean, great source of future opportunity for us and for them, before the collapse in oil prices were pain 36 50 cents. Because it was all imported, heavy oil. We need a modern infrastructure, theres too many fellow americans who live in places that are smalltown and rural areas who can make more money and generate more customers if they had access to rapid broad bands. But, nationally south korea speed, average three four times hours. Building that infrastructure counts, counts, longs with the roads, bridges, rails and all of the rest. We have to make sure that more people have opportunities to do this. Including the opportunity to start a job, started business, i like the dodd frank bill. Hillary has proposed something to strengthen it so that very large Financial Institutions that are tempted to generate more money for those by trading with each other instead of investing in americas future, cannot take undue risk. But we also need to make sure that if the bank wants to make a loan to a Small Business, the cost of the transaction is not so high they will not loan a hundred thousand dollars for someone to start a business. We have to have a Small Business set of rules that make sense. I grew up in arkansas and was governor there, there is a lot of difference between the amount of cash you need to protect against financial speculation that has no impact on the real economy. Except, if it goes bad. How much you need to make a decision to a farm he of know for 25 years whos john deere tractor breaks down right before you have to plant the crop, needs a loan for new tractor. Or whether some of you know who wants to open a little restaurant or hardware store, or frame shop, can get the loan necessary to do it. It is crazy for a bank to say we are not making lots of that size anymore because a cost us too much to make it. We have to have a sense of what makes this economy go. If you want to raise wages and reduce income inequality, you have got to raise the minimum wage, but you you also have to create more jobs, more jobs and more businesses in areas that have a good growth projection. We can do that. Her plan does. The other thing we have to do is make sure we are taking care of the workforce. Some people, and the the other party i might add, have made somewhat disparaging comments about hillarys proposal on things like equal pay, paid family leave, universal access to prekindergarten or Quality Childcare. But, here, here are the rules. In every relatively wealthy country the richer you get, the longer you stay wealthy, the smaller the family size. That holds across all society in that regard to culture and religion. Now, we made up for it always before by being at the top of the rule in Small Business formation and always in the top ten of women in the workforce. When i left office we are seventh, in spite of the fact that we are only seven countries that do not have paid family leave. Today, we are we are not even in the top 20. For women in the workforce. So, when hillary comes up for equal pay and paid family leave and access to Quality Childcare and prekindergarten, that is an economic strategy. You have to keep young people coming into the workforce. I can tell you, youth matters. It is a large determine it of the future of the country. The other thing we have to do is to recognize that in the aftermath of the crash, states, even though not covered by people who dont favor funding for education, have basically underfunded our education and limited funds to keep funding the schools. It was like they had no choice to make. You cannot raise taxes as bad as the economy was and you had to take care of the kids coming up. As a result college debt has gone up. The average debt heres Something Like 30,000 dollars which is far higher than the average debt, and if that means a bunch of people are going out in the world with 100,000 worth of debt or more, and jobs where they cannot sustain it. I talked to man the other day who was it new york Small Business person who has an assistant and he was paying 110,000, which was given the size of the business it was a nice salary. After taxes, it was about 70. The Monthly Payment on her college loan was 2900. 00 a month. You do the math. Then ask yourself if you could live in manhattan on the rest. This is being repeated everywhere. So hillary has a plan to deal with that. To lower the interest rate, allow people to refinance, and then work through system where everybody bars wanted go go to college, from any source, should be able to pay it back as a fixed percentage of their income, so nobody can at ever become [applause]. So, its a good program. On the question of building a more United Society theres really not much more important than preserving and, congress is about to vote again to defined healthcare. And tell everybody what a tail barrel failure it is. We have 90 of our people insured for the first time. [applause]. We were headed straight to 80, if the 22 states that still have not taken medicaid would do it, we but up to almost 95. We had four years of the lowest medical inflation in history, it is true last year we had a bump in the cost of premium but that is because all of the people who joined the health exchange, by by and large were older people. The older we are the more healthcare dollars we consume. This year, 2. 4 million more people, new people have entered health exchanges. They are overwhelmingly younger, healthier healthier people who are now going to help us build the system that will hold premiums down and continued to universalize access to healthcare. I dont dont know about you, but i think it would be a real mistake to get into the attempt to weaken, watered down or reveal this health care law. We we ought to do it hillary says and continue [applause]. Im very proud of the work that she has done for years on alzheimers, autism, and on Mental Health in general. Our policy shape there should be parity for Mental Health treatment but you and i know it does not exist. When dan was introducing me and he said what he did about access to guns, i just want to point out that one of the problems with the current law is that we do not have good recordkeeping for all Mental Health incidences. There some places where people would have gotten mental help if it were available. So the background check law as it currently works is not always effective. I think its more gun owners, already 85 of them support universal pack ground checks, if they knew more about what the shortcomings in the Mental Health system are they would be willing to wait another day or two to ensure that you do not have people like the poor guy in Los Angeles Holding a gun that he had nor business holding. So, that all matters. The biggest problem we have right now is this opium and heroin problem. It is a problem in New Hampshire, if its with the general problem of smalltown and rural america. You know state has the highest percentage of its population subject overdoses . West virginia. Because in all the small towns and rural areas, where the coal jobs have been going down for decades, people get up every day and they look in the mayor and they think every single day its going to be just like yesterday. A lot of those people are dying of a broken heart. For the first time in my lifetime the Life Expectancy of non collegeeducated, middleaged, white americans is going down. That never happened in my life. We have got to do something about this. This is why i am hopeful for bipartisan progress. Most people, without regard to party understand that this is a Public Health problem, not a lawenforcement problem. [applause]. In the last four years i have lost three children of Three Friends of mine, who all had the same story. One was at home the other two went out, they drank three or four beers and then their partner said why dont you pop the spelling get a buzz. That will give you a buzz, but if you fall asleep it kills part of your brain for a while that tells your body to stop breathing while youre sleeping. So addition to the people who are addicted, we, we have lots of people die every year because they dont understand if they take biochemistry of what is going on. I applaud the governor for the work that she has done and i think you call it more available. Our Foundation Worked hard to get the fda to approve a nasal spray version of it. Its about 40 per dose. We are trying to get it out all over the country. This is a huge problem. And the next president should know the kind of problems that keep americans up at night. Hillary does, because she took those tours, she had to come up with policies and figured out how to pay for them. That is a very big deal. We have got to figure out how to come back together again. I just want to say this about the fear we all have about paris and san bernardino, it was tragic. But a couple of days after the San Bernadino tragedy, i i picked up the New York Daily News one day and i was thumbing through it, there is an article about an immigrant who came here in 2002. He left his wife and four children in yemen and sent money home every month. Trying for more than 12 years to bring them over here. He is working at a little quick stop store in new york, 22 robbers come in with pistols. They tell him to get the Cash Register open, clean it out give them the money. He opens the Cash Register grabs the money and just as he gives it to him, according to the article he says you know ive only have this job over one year. This is not my money. Its certainly not their money, and he slapped at the gunmans hand, the gun does often misses him by few inches. The bullet goes on the counter and thank goodness, for him, the robbers were total idiots, they just fired a gun in Downtown Manhattan and the middle of the day. They ran away. So he so he goes next uses the phone, calls the police, goes back, secures the Cash Register and waits. Meanwhile the guy who runs the stores over the moon that he did it. He gives them the afternoon off. He went home, took out his prayer and gave thanks for his survival and said a prayer that may be finally his wife and four children, now 15, 15, 17, 19, 21 might be able to join him. He is farmer represented of the Muslim Community in america [applause]. So i think her plan on this is really important. We cannot do this. Heroin is now cheaper than oxycontin and vicodin. Because it is being grown in mexico and being harvested by preteens. We we have got to do something about this. That brings me to the third thing. We have to have inclusive policy. We have to have to get the show on the road. As hillary said, im a progressive progressive but i want to get things done. Let me just start with this. The next president will make between one and three appointments to the United States Supreme Court. I think it is important [applause]. But i think she is proof she knows how to get things done. When she was secretary of state she spearheaded the development of the iran sanctions, and got china and russia to sign off on it. I didnt think she could do that. [laughter] she worked with that then Muslim Brotherhood of egypt to stop a fullscale shooting war between hamas and israel. She worked with republican senators to ratify a treaty or team developed called the new start treaty which is the only thing that survived our temps to do better with russia. They are honoring that treaty. I think it is a good thing in a dangerous world that we reduce the chances of a Nuclear Exchange between ourselves and the russians. These are important things. When hillary senator she was on a commission to study the future of the military that the pentagon asked her to be on. Newt gingrich, and i had occasion to talk to him, he went out of his way to talk and say how good he was. That was be for the campaign started. If you nominated youll be treated to a lot of things the republican said before she started running. Anyway, she knows how to do things. She knows we have to do something about this black money in politics, politics, uncovered, secret money. This is wrong. The Supreme Court said that we cannot limit the amount of money people can spend on campaigns. I think it was a bad decision, they did not say that we had to let people give money in an undisclosed way and sneak around when they try to change the whole future of politics, nationally or in New Hampshire. We have to keep working for that. [applause]. I want to say one thing about the selection. Again, you just have to decide whether you want inclusive economics, inclusive social polities and whether you want someone who actually knows how to defend the country without giving away our values. How to build an economy or in her words us struggling and whether you think that should be tomorrow. To do it you need to change maker. So i will close with this and ask you to think about it. I will say in advance, you are in title to say what else is he going to say, they just celebrated their 40th anniversary. But, you are are entitled, but i do know her. When we met in law school it was relatively rare for women to be in law school, or law school generally. Hard to believe now that most graduates are women from law school. She could have gone anywhere. Her interest in law school was Legal Services for poor people. When she got out, instead of taking a clerkship clerkship or big firm job, she went to work for the childrens defense fund. She went to alabama to investigate whether segregated academies were claiming Tax Exemptions under the grounds that they were just private academies that happened have no africanamericans in them. They change the law and the school and eventually change the practice. She went to South Carolina, this is more important to me now, to investigate why so many 14 and
