He would be assessed with the evil characters digging everything that they did and that the time he was obsess with the Queens Borough president involve then spiraling Corruption Scandal he wanted me to find something now to so first he sent me to dig up an application and he had made for permission to build a Swimming Pool in his backyard i got the plans and the permits he said did you go to the house . I said why crises said to see if he built it per cargo there with an enormous sense you have to pass through his property to get there back and said i couldnt see the pool he sent back to climb over the fence to see if there was a pool. If you combine his stream of consciousness crazy way of thinking with my bad handwriting of the trump not taken that is his ramblings you will not do that. [laughter] thats the problem with trump in of one hand simultaneously the funniest story in history than the most horrible thing ever even though i was working on i kept getting sucked into the four tax of tropical last couple years gravitating toward it and in the end with all of these reports writing for Rolling Stone this is the fourth president ial campaign and is said earlier covering the campaign trail in is sacred and iconic passed down from generation to generation and i have never not been conscious of the tradition of those before me. For the highlight was Hunter Thompson coverage of nixon in 72 that was the unspeakable standard because everytime you come in the first thing you see is a tapestried of original illustrations of people like nixon and wallace the desert to edition of Rolling Stone so victor drew the illustrations for this book we have always and conscious of the idea valera aspiring to in this job but what made his work in 1972 special was that thompson had l. Lovell love obsession and discussed and love with a relationship with nixon far beyond anything he felt for any politician. He has in the year for evil that made him unique and as a result nixon touched the nerve that these funny observations came out pretty and of his luster is to talk about how you wrote these Amazing Things some of my best friends of hated him all his lives my mother my son and i hate nixon but it pulls us together. [laughter] nixon was so crooked he needed the service to help unscrew his pants on in the morning even his funeral was illegal with obsession and you cannot force it to say is this a combination but mixed with fascination and attraction with some people ugly is just ugly but farc and supportive unfortunately i am one of those people everybody in the world has a sense of beauty if you grow plucking up thousands of cases one day you see that one face was put on earth just for you and for me trump was like that except the opposite when i first saw him on the campaign trail i thought he is unique and horrible characteristics put on earth for me to appreciate or not appreciate because i had been spending a lot of the last tender 12 years preparing for donald trump to happen some to give background how the campaign trail works because i had a unique Vantage Point set out to cover the campaigns they have hellishly busy schedules on top of all the travel that can be grueling 6 00 a. M. Through midnight every night with three 1 4 flights in between purdy were constantly working even the newspaper people had to write one story per day usually more Television People had to file to do one report per day as the years progressed and with the internet about workload expanded so they had to treat and do all these things.
