They are a Fascinating Group of men to begin with but you see the revolution through completely different eyes when you study the paintings they did which were so iconic at the time there were plenty of paintings around positive sentiment for england at the time and many that supported the colonists cause. Each of the artist had its own connection to the revolution. Heated portraits of all sorts of people at valley forge. He fought in the battle of princeton. She is a professor and head of the africanamerican studies in History Department at emory university. She is one of the great africanamerican professors in the country. At the height of the ferguson rights in 2014, in june and july, she wrote an oped in which she argued that even though were talking about black rage in the death of people like Michael Brown and eric garner, we should really be talking about white rage because at every point since the civil war ended when blacks have made social progress in america, they have been met with a deliberate white opposition whether it was in reconstruction or brown versus the board of education or the war against drug lords in the obama presidency. Every time blacks have made progress in this country there has been a fight and backlash against them in the court and legislature and a has been coded as protecting democracy or preventing fraud. It is systemic racism. This is the first time that someone has connected 150 years of history from 1865 until the present to show that the attitudes that were very much alive during reconstruction are sadly very much alive today. They are coded differently and worded differently but that systemic of racism and pushing down a minority is still very much in our culture, sad to say. When is that book coming out . Its publishing on may 31 so its a little bit before the fall season. It is perhaps the most powerful book that i have ever published. At at the end of it i came away with this frustration and anger but also a sense that this is undeniable. We cannot deny that this is happening.
