Thank you so much from so much, jim. Thats an introduction my father would be proud and my mother wouldve believed. Is wonderful to be here. Thank you for inviting me and specifically. I wouldnt have my position or been able to write this book without support of the family found my position as mcu and also made the writing of this book possible. Majestically my team is present. Thank you for getting me past the finish line. Omar comments needed. Let us talk about why we wrote this book. My day job is working with the marine corps, special operators and fbi to understand ideology whether its al qaeda, hamas or rss today to get inside the mind of the bad guys. One of the reasons im in an unusual position is not because they grew up in the middle east are a come from an arab culture. It is because the experience of my family. My parents lived in hungary during the communist dictatorship and my father is actually responsible for creating a secret Christian Catholic underground organization and university to push back on the takeover of his beloved hungry. Unfortunately he was feeding to the west end msx and then announce the desk of one kim philby. After a few months of undermining the soviet and helping to stop the spread of communism, my father and his friends as a result my father got a life sentence in a communist prison starting with two years in solitary in two years down a coal mine after that. This is the story with which i open my boat. I didnt want to do it, but my wife said americans love a good story. I open it with a story of my father. My father been liberated from a communist article prison by the revolutionaries in 1956. Escaping finally making their way to the west. My father didnt know hed been for trade to the massive refugee camp where you want to go and he said the united kingdom. Thats how i was born a british citizen and eventually move to hungry after the fall of them but now im a very proud american citizen. The reason that i did in fact decide to include the story was a very simple one. I grew up with the mothers milk of freedom and democracy, just instilled in me from day one. Because my father is gained from a communist dictatorship, from the prison, i understand before i could walk the fragility, the important than how fragile it is and how Ronald Reagan was absolutely correct that the loss of liberty is always just one generation away. So what i saw the events in realtime 15 years ago was on a day like today, beautiful, blue clear skies. When i saw those two planes flying into the twin towers of the world trade center, i literally hundreds to that the totalitarians are back. They may not be communist, but they are totalitarians. If you read the works that and farm groups like or al qaeda, it is clear that america is what again facing a global totalitarian ideology. In the 20th century, weve vanquished and then weve vanquished the soviet union and marxism. Today we are facing is similar ideology that sees itself and it will pull them are as competition. It is no accident that key g jihad authors come you must read this story really begins with him from an egyptian said qutb. His milestone is a very, very strange mixture of fascism, communism, all wrapped up in the religion of islam. Its these people you must read and understand if you wish to understand the threat to america and what it truly is an existential threat. These people will not renegotiated. Anybody who thinks you can set down with either the taliban or al qaeda or isis to negotiate about your future, they are living in an alice in wonderland fantasy. The only thing you can negotiate about is how you will be killed. Will you be decapitated, or to live or crucified or will you be enslaved as a person who is not recognized as a human being because youre not in most him. That is the reality. It is completely analogous to attempting to negotiate with hitler. It doesnt work. You can negotiate with the fascist about which they will put a human. That is about the extent of the negotiation and we are again in this war. The rest of the book beyond this recognition that the new totalitarians have arrived is my game plan on how to defeat them. It starts at the lessons of funds to. If you would a war come you must know yourself. Not our enemy. We have Political Correctness outofcontrol. The last 15 years and fortunately it gotten under the bush administration. But now it has reached cataclysmic or portions. When the white house tonight classified unclassified memo and the discussion of religion and counterterrorism training for the fbi or for military, even saying that the word jihad was prohibited, we entered the new age in which you put become impossible to effectively win this war. The student of mine stated in his dissertation and he will go unnamed, when the enemy gets to control what you are allowed to say about them, youve already lost the war. And that is where we are today. When a man in traditional arabic dress runs at a peace officers cruiser in philadelphia, pumps the whole back of his glock semiautomatic by policemen and afterwards as is for the glory of god for all the new mayor of philadelphia says just a crime. Then were living in a monty python fan see absurdity. The fact is you can only defeat an enemy if he wonders and them under a terms. When they say they are trained 11 fighting for allah, you do not get to wipe that out. If you do that, you are censoring the intelligence cycle. It would be as if somebody had said this we are preparing to storm the beaches and somebody in americas bad luck, guys. I know your parachute, your rifle is ready, but whatever you do, dont mention the word nazi because you could offend because you criticize nature name criticize nature and impaired criticize nature name. I use as my template the template incredibly successful during the cold war. We want to go markets a totalitarian ideology with two seminal documents, to secret documents that have since been declassified in a use these as a starting point for my strategy against other jihadist. The first is the now famous secret telegram, to washington in 1946. Fedex name to it as soviet union and why is he behaving in ways that are complex article to the post pieces of europe. That document was the enemy threat doctrine analysis but in military terms. It was an incredibly accurate description of the personality that made it very clear that this nation and its allies are motivated by ideology that will not stop unless we are destroyed and that is why it is the next potential threat to america and her western allies. How did we go beyond . The incredible paul meets that was passed by the Truman Administration to write the plan on how to defeat the soviets. In the document National Security council, he read a 60 page plan on how to defeat the soviet union from the outside by delegitimizing it ideology of the workers paradise. That document was unlike any government document ive ever seen. Let me just read to you if i may one shirt thing that the very beginning. In the book defeating jihad, i reproduce both of those classified documents in their entirety at the back of the books you can read them. Let me just give you an opening section and ask yourself a question. When i read these words to you from formerly topsecret government strategy, ask yourself how many times you hear language like this today in unclassified government documents, president ial statements from the rose garden. Tell me of a talk like this anymore. The fundamental purpose of the United States is laid down in the preamble to the constitution. To form a more perfect union, the justice ensure domestic tranquility provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity. In essence, the fundamental purpose is to assure the integrity and vitality of our free society, which is founded upon the dignity and the words of the individual. Do we have government documents that talk about the dignity and the words the individual . We understood back then and we need to remind ourselves that today it is organizations like isis or al qaeda. What is to be done . I work with dod for five years, six years, too long. I am a little bit of that death by powerpoint, but im a recovering powerpoint user. A major share to sites with you. What is the message of my book . Heres a very simple message. Al qaeda and isis has to be recognized as such. Its not the function of poverty or lack of education or what administration likes to call local grievances. Who of the 19 hijackers on september 11th were born in Palestinian Refugee camps . What was the lack of political enfranchisement that jihad suffered being a very welltodo i. T. Manager in the gulf. Im not sure i understand that the local grievances are todays individuals to behead fellow humans be some campus. They have ceded to totalitarians before and we can do it again. Let me be explicit on this. It is no accident that it took americas involvement and leadership in both world war ii and the cold war to defeat nazi. That is not an accident. It is a function of the fact that america, we are the only nation founded on the principles of liberty, freedom and the individual dignity of the human being based upon their being made in the image of their creator. This is not an accident. And it will take americas involvement in again to this new totalitarian, but only if we can remove a threat assessment and hands takes of this war. They are total and football. It is easy to isis and its ideas of caliphate of theocracies. There are 6 Million People living on the territory of the caliphate today. There are 80,000 armed jihadist. Thats not a theory. Thats not a crazy idea of a man in a cave somewhere. Thats a reality. They have rd issued official manuals that the Islamic State on what you can or cannot do with your slaves. Explicitly or sex slaves, including women that you now own because they are his cds are christians. How was it im going to get political for a second because i dont for the u. S. Government anymore. Why is that we are talking about Harriet Tubman on american dollar bills or substandard access to toilet when women are being sold into sex slavery now . Does someone not see the incongruent transgender toilet versus sex market today. Slavery is having a today. There needs to be an understanding of what is going on in the world. So what is to be done to quote a certain individual who may be familiar to you. Number one, we have to be honest about who the enemy is and what they want. No more censorship. Lets get politics out of National Security. The idea that you are not allowed to talk about the enemy using the word the enemy uses to talk about themselves. That must end. Also, we have to be honest that it is not a function of poverty or lack of political enfranchisement, but that it is pure evil. It is the evil that we see that represents the greatest threat to america. There are other problems. I will admit. Russia is a spoiler in north korea, but not climate change. Sex slavery today. Crucifixions and beheadings based on what religion you profess. That is the primary problem. Could censorship out, allow professionals to do it they been trained to do and then the second part operationally. America should not be the face of the war against the Global Movement for many reasons. They should be our sunni allies. Countries that were are close to within the past, specially charging means egyptians and others. They are the primary victims. Let me be clear here. The People Killed our fellow muslims. But his cds and christians and yes i understand that, but it demanded the cage, victor dini and Fighter Pilot who emphasizes the primary enemy of these individuals. As a result we must support nations on the frontline, like egypt, the kiwi can mature into the face of this war. But as anyone who served in this region knows or has traveled there, that will never happen by itself. You will not see an arab sunni coalition, not the one created today by the administration. 61 nations . There were two muslim nations in the room. Two. Not 61. Talk about the reality and real Arab Coalition to fight on the ground will never happen unless those governments and most people trust that we are behind them all the way that we had their six as we say in the military. Those government and nation do not trust america today. If i were a sunni moderate, neither would i after the last 15 years and especially after the last 7. 5. We did have the next chief rebuild bridges that have been burned to the ground because the most reasonable sunnis think that america is now on the side of the shia extreme. 150 billion nuclear deal with iran have drawn conclusions that we dont care about cairo. We are on the side of the mullahs. That has to be addressed. This war will not be one without us being part of the solution are sunni allies on the frontline. Explicitly from the cold war, we have to have a strategic level counter push in the propaganda or information more domain. We are bitterly not present on the battlefield of ideas. Im not denigrating the work or psychological operations units on fort bragg. They have limited. They are corralled. They are not permitted to do anything about the tactical level. Just as in the cold war, we must have a white house driven counter Propaganda Campaign that shines the light of truth against our enemy and the totalitarian ideas and ultimately delegitimize his their ideology of global jihads. Today this is their primary problem. From the streets of paris to brussels to deadbeat, jihad as a lifestyle is far too popular. When you have the director of the fbi testified openly that isis is more than 20,000 social media pot farms and posted within 50,000 postings every day, it is time that we started to push back. It is only then when jihad becomes unpopular, when we support a version of islam that is portrayed by Richard Damien said egyptian colleagues, that we will eventually win this war and defeat the new totalitarians. That is my plan and a nutshell. If you have any questions or you want to know more about the book, it is available outside of the foyer. My website has lots of information about the vote and Everything Else that we do. Lastly, if you want to know how bad the threat is, the company my wife and i run high some reports on the domestic threat of cases in case youre still wondering how serious a threat is, if also available online. Weve got time for any questions from the floor or if they are being emailed in, the floor is all yours. Andrew, please. Hi, i guess one curious question of course he mentioned a key component of your strategies. Trying to develop other alternatives islams website al qaeda, isis, taliban. I guess thats the 64,000 question. Assorted developments do you see your groups you would support . Great question. So when have we seen arab or muslim nations function in ways that are commands there up with the standards of liberty, democracy and Representative Government or at least the rights of the individual. To be completely honest i see two functioning examples. The turkey and the hash making about jordan. Those are the only ones that are stable and cherished values we cherish on the whole. There obviously, the attitude dissolved the caliphate in the car appeared as explosive as that everyone in the republic of tea can be a muslim. But i am going to divest. Im going to disconnect islam. That the founding father and america coming command of some, but that is a privacy issue. The koan cannot infer government policies. A very aggressive separation was one model. The state department doesnt like an idea with estates to sign what is a religion can or cannot be. The turkish army is going to be the protector of the republican identity. The idea that guys in uniform are going to be the guarantors doesnt go well done with their friends at the state department. But nevertheless it worked until a certain mr. Eric awad came to power. And then we have the jordanians. That is a certain way for someone else doesnt have. Their military, although their military and royal elite are trained where . Here. I have the royal family members as my students. So the fact is that are socialized with the western values as individuals and then they have credentials that really cannot be by the extremist. Those are two options. One of those cannot be replicated. Whats the last option . Youve got to a secularization. Youve got to have an attitude legacy that is transposed into other muslim or arab nations. I think thats exactly what president cc is trying to do. I have spoken to for hours. When a man who is devoutly muslim as he is, you know he hasnt a prayer not on his forehead. A prayer so hard he has a callous on his forehead. If you reduce dissertation, its clear this is a deeply devout muslim whose trying to wrestle with the question of islam and democracy. But when he tells me look, i did what i did with the Muslim Brotherhood because im an egyptian for im a muslim, then you understand what this man is doing. He said absolutely, islam is great but im not going to see my nation held hostage to an interpretation of islam but its straight from the seventh century. Its people like him who are trying to reinvigorate the attitude will model but they are blackballed by this administration. Because he wore a uniform. I remember there was a president , maybe it was eisenhower, who was a soldier before he was a president , but i dont know. Im a newly minted american. I wanted to bring up the jordan thing. I want to unpack that a bit more because jordan is about 60 refugee and as the 40 live there who are jordanian, about half of america and about half hate america. So could you unpack the love more about the way forward in terms of interfacing with jordan and their role theyre going to play in bringing stability back to the region and engaging with the global uncertainty . Thank you. Let me not give you my opinion. Let me give you the horses mouth. My wife and i visited jordan and were in the biggest are gaining refugee camp on Christmas Day last year. Jordan has absorbed incredible amount of refugees from serious that is almost cracking the capacity of the nation to maintain its economy. Let me quote to you the senior, no names, a Senior Police official who was responsible for that camp that had a huge, Huge Population of refugees. We asked him, how do you see this developing . How was the integration of the refugees into jordan working, and how long can you do this . He said, look, you have to be clear about this. We as jordanians eventually need these people to go back to the country they came from. The answer for refugees as not to be forced to go and live somewhere else, its for the conditions that force their exodus to be solved to allow them to go back. He said it makes no sense. We cannot physically absorb these people as the nation. And secondly what sense does it make to transport them even further away from their homelands, whether its into europe or america . That is not what these people deserve. As the son of refugees, yes, i fully understand this. My parents may have become british citizens but guess what. Window wall fell, what did my parents do . They went back to hungry. They have been forced to live in exile because of the dictatorship that had taken over the country. But as soon as the warfel, they were hungarians wanted to go back to the land of their birth, which theyve been forced out of. Trouble is jordan is just one relatively small actor in this theater and its done an amazing job, an amazing job and absorbing as many people as it has. I tend to agree with that police officer. The longterm reality of the nation concern with these individuals is not that they try and grow roots and transplant territories or that theyre pushed even further away from their homeland, but eventually they will have to go back to their own nation. And that will only happen with american leadership. Yes, please. Thank you. Thank you very much. Is it feasible to separate mosque and state in the sense that in the moslem religion its not a union of mosque and state, its a confusion of both things, its the same thing. In medieval christendom had union of church and state but it was very clear in the catholic doctrine that the to work completely different. So is it feasible . Are we thinking about, it didnt work in a sense, i mean, stopped working your maybe because its not workable. Look, you raise a superb question. I dont want to go down a theological rabbit hole, but the fact is if you read the koran as i have, there is no passage in islam structure equivalent to the chapter. People think the Founding Fathers separate of church and state. Wrong, jesus did when the jewish clerk said should you pay taxes, what did jesus say . Show me a coin. Who say this on the coin . Caesars faces on the coin. Render unto caesar that which is caesars. Separation of church and state isnt a catholic thing. Its jesus, right . Using my kingdom is out here. This is the kingdom of caesar. Even st. Paul in his letters says what, obey your master fro, open your political leaders. We dont have that moment in islamic scripture. And again for those who have a fabulous interpretation of islam, i ask them one simple question, who was mohammed . Just tell me who was mohammed . What role did he feel in the caliphate . Well, number one, he is said to be the profit, the last prophet of god. So hes a religious figure. Number two, he is the head of state. Is the head of state. So i like your discussion, confusion. Its completely the same. And thirdly, is also whatcom a great military leader wiping out whole tribes, jewish tribes, arab tribes, you name it. Read the stories. Yes, in the gene out of islam there is a this unitary nation. Look at whats taking sight of jihad is . Youve all seen the videos. What the gang sign. Its not pointing at seven. Its not a pistol. Its unity. Unity. One this of faith, one does of god and oneness of the perfect man. Mohammed is the perfect man. We have a challenge. We have a theological stumbling block but i think until the Muslim Brotherhood arrives, until individuals, there is a way that does not make diplomats happy but at the attitudinal model with a person who has political credentials, you have elected me president , he decides what religion is. We dont like that, or we dont like that idea that a president will say what you can or cannot do as a muslim. He said i dont care what the koran says page nine, chapter nine verse 20. What did it say . What did it say . Kill the infidel. Chapter nine verse four, chapter nine verse 29. These are the words of god. It says we dont give a more. I want to be a member of nato. Not happening. So thats a turkey becomes turkey eventually. There is a way. Its fragile. It depend upon whether that political elite can maintain its credentials or its authority to impose its interpretation of the religion and, of course, we dont like it. We dont like it, but again i think it is arrogance that we save our culture must define what they will do to join us in our global community. Thats the ultimate arrogance. Lets leave it up to people like presidency see who are elected as to how they do with this question. So in the front. Are supposed to be, considered to be 1. 21. 3 billion muslims, socalled muslims. Who represents the muslim nationstates . If you have to address, you are invited to address oic, what message you will have for them . What recommendations you would have for them in case you get such a chance . Because ultimately to make peace, i am really from pakistan. Im a doctor. There are 20,000 physicians from pakistan who were practicing in u. S. A. , and none of the patients so there are muslims no. So how can we bring those muslims into the goal, who can really separate with the church and the state . Look, asking me to address the oic is like asking my father to address the common term, because we will not get the invitation and its probably pointless because i will be broadcasting on fm and they would be receiving on am. It makes no plan for me to be there. If you wish to make this fantasy real, i would say one thing. I would just ask them very simply, where does the dignity of the individual, from . Where does the dignity of the individual come from . What are the sources of humankind could are they purely purely revelation . Can you talk to me about what natural law . What is the attitude of natural law . What do they think of the theologians . We are getting into the special character but like to get the oic on the record about where does it come from. Is it just some that iran or is it beyond the wrong . Because they think you will see coram. You will see the wolf take off the sheeps clothing very rapidly if you ask this question the last of ask them about what is the role of religion in politics. All these three questions. Revelation, natural and one of religion in politics. Im ask questions. I wouldnt give them recommendations because i think theyre on the wrong trajectory. [inaudible] is their arrogance and ignorance . Thats a great question. It is easy to be erica if youre ignorant, i dont think the people running the oic are stupid. Thats as big a mistake as saying alqaeda are just crazy people. Not true. One of the biggest mistakes we make in the intelligence committee, National Security come is is a the are just a bunch of crazies. Wrong. They have a plan. Read the people in my book. If you read the key strategists of jihad can you understand these people are not capricious or random. They have a strategy that has been percolating for seven years. At the thing i wish to stress just on the point of ice is, do you realize that nobody of what happened on june 29, 2014 . This is what shocks me inside the u. S. National security establishment. When a man who is named himself after the first righteous, mohammed, albaghdadi, when albaghdadi walks up to the pulpit to the preaching, the sermonizing location of the grand mosque in mosul and declares the reestablishment of the caliphate, and himself as the king, this is the ultimate game changer. This isnt just packaging. This changes everything. Because 490 years, 90 years, the extremist, the jihadists have been trying to undo and reestablish the caliphate. Scores of organizations were created starting with the Muslim Brotherhood, then moving on to alqaeda, egyptian islamic jihad, you name it. All of these organizations dedicated on one mission, reestablishing the caliphate. 490 years all of them failed. What happens a year and half ago in mosul . Isis doesnt talk about it. Isis does it. It is not possible to over emphasize the geostrategic significance that isis has succeeded when 90 years of jihadism i has filtered and thas why wrote this book. Because i this is not a jv team. Isis is that the super bowl and they are going to walk away with the ring. Isis has blasted alqaeda out of the water. Its not done the Muslim Brotherhood. People need to understand, then another thing if i may, bring it all back home, this is from report my wife and i did on isis in america. This isnt something happened a thousand miles away, ladies and gentlemen. In the last 18 months since the declaration of the caliphate we have killed or arrested 19 people in america linked to isis. 98. Thats just isis. All over the country from texas to california to new jersey. Its not a question of when the threat comes in. The question of where the threat is is already answered. They argue. San bernardino. What did syed farook and shed 17 to . They swore allegiance as the execute the second largest attack on u. S. Soil since september 11. The really scary thing is, 30 of the people weve arrested have no intention of going anywhere. Half of them want to go to the middle east but 30 of decided the best way to serve the caliphate is to kill infidels on u. S. Soil. These are just the unclassified facts of the matter about what the isis threat to america is today. Could you update folks on the state of alqaeda did a . Today we always talk about isis. Thank you. Isis got to be really big. Why . Because reps is what alqaeda, and when he gets kicked out of alqaeda can what happens . It doesnt matter than. Really . What does he do . He says im going to make hay while the sun shines. He takes office fired into syria and those of the Islamic State. We are doing it again. We obsessing on isis, but alqaeda has not disappeared. Alqaeda is more active than ever, especially in africa, and right now theres real pressure on alqaeda to do what . Prove relevance, yes. Because who stole the show . Now crisis is the cocacola of soft drinks. You say soft drinks, the big brand leader of course is isis. Alqaeda has to get back in again. Either that or they have to swear by it to the new caliphate and i dont think im alzawahiri, i dont think the reasons of ego i dont think it quite swallow, supporting himself to his former subordinates. What is okay to do in the meantime . It may even go bigger. If you want to prove relevance, 3000 people in 102 minutes may not be enough. Weve seen alqaeda look at weapons of mass destruction with great interest. Remember the biggest from afghanistan expand making with nerve agents, in his gas is . So alqaeda does not disappeared and its very important what doctor care funded by raising that issue. This is what i prefer, violent extremism is absurd. This asinine label it administration uses, amorphous by extremism. No, its not any kind of violent extremism. Each jihadism. And a much better label for the threat is Global Jihad Movement. We must appreciate the Global Jihad Movement has hundreds of members. Organizations. Hundreds of organizations. So whether youre a member of abu sayyaf, local run, underserved, alqaeda, aqim come is all part of the same. Even if the shia. They are hezbollah. Thats a version of jihadism. Its just a competing branch. Its the one that serves the shia interpretation of extremism. So these are all things we should remember. Its not the connection between individuals that matter. Intelligence community is always looking, before the san bernardino, irrelevant. Do they share the same ideology is the most important thing. So if that individual chairs the ideology of jihad whether its major nadals, that means theyre members of the same movement and that i think is the best label for mobile jihad movement. In the middle right there. Have you reflected on [inaudible] sufi ism is often thought of as the antidumping all we need is more of that. As you said you havent read a history book. The whirling dervishs animistic version of islam seems very intuitively attractive as a nonkinetic. Some of the nastiest, most violent muslim sects in history of the religion were linked to sufi ism. Im not looking for the one antidote im looking for attitudes to revelation and recent entry that also the most important question, what is the definition of where dignity and human value comes from . Sofia some certain aspects of it could be injected into the mold but youre not going to convert a majority sunni religion into a version of itself. I understand the attraction. Not sure it by itself as a game changer, but thank you. Yes, here in the front, please. Im joe kaufman with congressman jim brydon steins office. Its not difficult for me to understand having read that wrong, having read the history of Islamic Movement from its outset, why were seeing what we are seeing in the islamic world today. I do find it difficult to understand the response of the Current Administration and previous administrations to the islamic threat. Aqua best put in the proper context . Well, ive got nine minutes. So why the Obama Administration get to where it is today . I have two answers for the. One is to do with world and what to do with intelligence analysis. So the first one is the worldview. When you have a political country that looks at itself as very sophisticated, very modern, postmodern, if you will, in what is your attitude to religion . Its probably the forward interpretation of religion is just a power trip by guys in skirts or whatever, right . Even if you go to church or temple or mosque, its a social club. If you go on capitol hill, i meet people afterwards over donuts and coffee. If your attitude to religion is postmodern secular attitude, you will not understand this war. I dont care what religion you are. I realized in the first few work first figures within the defense department, i dont care if youre a buddhist or come if we dont have faith, real faith, you will never understand the jihad is. If you watch the unedited version of the video, as i do, its not just craziness but when a man takes seven minutes to suffer another human beings had from their neck, thats a commitment to a cause that doesnt come from a paycheck. So number one, its secular attitude to religion. You simply cannot absorb and cyclic theres a moment in history we have to address. Theres an individual who was an academic specializing in radical islam who was hired by the entities of the national counters and center. This individual was lifted to the white house. He saw the white house with the following analysis. You can read this and my white paper, the Science Behind counterterrorism strategy, a flawed strategy, the flawed science guide american counterterrorism strategy. This individual saw the white house on this analysis to in the world of radical islam, the are two groups who believe in the caliphate. The brotherhood that we just nonkinetic means to establish it, like stealing elections or whatever, there are people like alqaeda that will actually kill you and pull you up. This may convince the wife of the only way to save america from the next 9 11 is to negotiate with the brotherhood and empower them because only the brotherhood can save us from alqaeda. The problem is of course, what . They both one caliphate. Yes, they both want to destroy the west, and we are hoping people like morsi because we think theyre going to kill us, what, later . But this is what worldview, sickly giving power to a group that is as extreme as the jihad is. They just have a different methodology. But we can talk for hours about why the administration is where it is. We have time for one more question. Wait for the microphone. Im john utley with the american conservative. Ive also written about americas strategy. In fact, if you search the internet, my article is number one and two. I listed all the violations, recommendations on how to win, one of which is war is the last resort, not the first. For us it is the first and the things recommended. But my question is about saudi arabia. Saudi arabia and turkey were helping isis. The money comes from saudi arabia. The other one funds all of this extremism all over the place, and we continually say we are their buddies. We started in yemen killing thousands of innocent people. We provide Aerial Refueling intelligence to the saudis to show that we like them. So your question . It all comes from saudi arabia, and there are muslim countries you mentioned, but not the saudi arabia is where it comes from. Okay, question . Please address those issues. Im not in a position to address Foreign Policy with saudi arabia. But in the book ideal explicitly with the most important years in the birth of modern jihad, and thats 1979. If you want to understand are very confused relationship with saudi arabia, and why saudi arabia is fundamentally schizophrenic nation you have to understand this siege of mecca. The book is available outside, okay . But this siege of mecca by jihadi extremists against their fellow muslims led to a bargain being brought between the house of saud and certain clerk members but its a long story that its in the book.
