Revelations. Phone lines this morning, calling in for the line on those who support trump, 202 7488001. If you support Hillary Clinton, 202 7488000 is your number. If you are supporting a second party a thirdparty candidate, 202 7488002. Nd if you are undecided, a very good Tuesday Morning to you. We are talking about the Wikileaks Revelations and we begin with an editorial cartoon in usa today. You can see Hillary Clinton standing under the storm of wikileaks. She is holding an umbrella made of the donald trump access Hollywood Tape. For more on wikileaks we turn to sarah westwood, an executive reporter with the Washington Examiner. You have written 15 to 20 stories about the Wikileaks Revelations since they came out. What r one or two stories or issues that have gained the most traction . I think it isst the transcripts of her paid speeches that shows she expressed support for policies she has since come out and opposed on the campaign trail, the transpacific partnership. She opposed it on the trail and expressed a desire for open trade, open borders, and one big hemispheric market, totally different from the rhetoric on the campaign trail. This is obviously nothing illegal, nothing on the level of the access Hollywood Tape, it speaks to her single biggest weakness as a candidate, edges that voters, even her own supporters sometimes do not trust the sincerity of the position she has taken. Host what has the Clinton Campaign Team Response been to drip, of drip drip, the wikileaks emails coming out, have they address them individually . Not addressedve any issues headon and they have been over overall highlighting the fact that these emails were obtained illegally. We suspect, the administration suspects a russian sponsored actor accessed these emails and this is an act of cyber aggression from russia that potentially escalates tensions. They have been focusing on that aspect. Deniedd not confirmed or the authenticity of the emails. Host what has been the response of the Donald Trump Team . Have they been able to distill the stories into one Campaign Message about wikileaks on the campaign trail . Campaign hasump tried to fit this into their existing narrative of the fact that they think that Hillary Clinton represents the old guard of washington, that she represents the establishment, thethe system is rigged. Acting dnc chair also expressed favoritism toward Hillary Clinton over Bernie Sanders during the primary. And whichne example by all appearances it looked as if she provided the Clinton Campaign with townhall questions ahead of an event. Things like that have reinforced Donald Trumps argument that the primary system was rigged in favor of Hillary Clinton, implying that potentially the general election could be rigged. Host got to ask you about another story about emails. Your story from the Washington Examiner, fbi confirms executives discussed deals to cover up clinton emails. Guest the fbi released 100 pages of notes and it showed that patrick kennedy, the state Department Undersecretary for management was pressuring the on ao change their mind email that the fbi said was classified. Kennedy knew it would reflect poorly on the state department and clinton if benghazi emails were upgraded to be classified. This was all taking place in spring and early summer of last year when the scandal was just unfolding. Quo toed a quid pro the fbi for removing the classification markings off this email. One fbi agent responded favorably to kennedys overtures and said, now that you are offering some sort of deal the fbi would like to have approval for officials in iraq. Fruition never came to and the agent that responded favorably is no longer with the bureau. Abouts raise questions how the state department approached the handling of Hillary Clintons emails. Host not a wikileaks issue per se but another headache for the Clinton Campaign. Uest absolutely the Clinton Campaign has continuously pointed to the state department handling of the emails as evidence that this was treated with impartiality, as an apolitical entity. Republicans who have said as much are basically just engaging in partisan rhetoric. Now we have evidence that maybe there was something to the argument that potentially there was bias in the way these emails were handled. Host sarah westwood, Investigative Reporter with the Washington Examiner. Thank you so much for the time this morning. Guest thank you for having me. Host asking our viewers this have the revelations impacted your vote . If you are supporting donald trump, the number is 202 7488000. Supporters, ton 202 7488000. A thirdparty candidate, 202 7488001. From waldorf maryland, jody is a Hillary Clinton supporter. Caller i think the emails, there is terrible things she is saying, she is probably being dishonest and she is getting a lot of unfair favoritism but i still have to vote for her. I wanted john kasich because i think it is good for balance, but if they had nominated any sane person other than donald trump i would be voting republican. Since it is am i cannot vote for him. Host that is jody in maryland. An undecided voter in anchorage, alaska. Caller thank you for taking my call. I know these are all important but the information seems trivial with all the other major issues we have. One of them would be, let me trump should be the only one concerned about donalds philandering and womanizing. That is her issue with him and why the public seems to be interested in it is beyond me. She needs to deal with it, that is a private thing. The main issue that i consider that is very important i am sorry to have cut you off is the currency situation with the banking and the offshore money that is being sheltered in the fines that have been paid from those banks in various countries. Where does that money go and why arent we getting an accounting of anything in the administration . We have no real accounting of what the activity there. Off holder optioned bitcoins, he offered validity to het and when he did that opened up an underground currency in the United States. That needs to be remedied. Theconstitution says that dollar and gold and silver are the only thing we are supposed to be using in our economy. Go onto bill who is waiting an in our line for donald Trump Supporters, asking how the wiki leak revelations might affect your vote. Bill from fairfax, virginia. Angry at the tv news reports. I remember back in june when the pulse nightclub was shot up and i was watching cnn, and they have the person on the desk and they had a young man on the scene. The person at the desk was questioning the young man and he happened to say, he was a democrat. And she said, who is a democrat . Mateen, thed, shooter. She said how did you know . Because the fbi got his computer and there are emails from Hillary Clinton. Immediately the station went for a commercial and i wonder if Hillary Clinton was talking to him doing the shooting during the shooting. Host lets talk about the Wikileaks Revelations, what have you seen in the past days and weeks that you think is gaining the most traction . Caller i have seen nothing, and i watch cnn quite often. I have watched other channels and nobody has ever mentioned it. I will tell you one thing, the comment, who made that after they went for a commercial when they came back they did a whole different story. Later on the had somebody at the scene who i had not seen that young man on that show since june. Host we are going to stick to the wikileaks stories that have been coming out, for your opinion on how it might affect your vote. Mark is a Hillary Clinton supporter. Caller good morning. First of all, what really , Julian Assange with a picture of Hillary Clinton and he was saying lets get rid of all. Skank once and for look at this picture. Julian assange, and accused and probably guilty rapist who will not go on trial with sweden because he is afraid of getting extradited to the u. S. , come on. The man is guilty of rape and we are letting this person through his organization wikileaks, determine who our president is . I am just talking about the whole scheme of things. Notwithstanding the content of the emails, you have got to be kidding me. I will tell you another thing to the Trump Supporters. There is going to come a time where wikileaks or some other organization is going to start hacking Republican Party emails, and we will see how much Rush Limbaugh and the gang like that. Host to that point, glenn alsowald of the intercept of the Edward Snowden revelations, has written about how american politicians have interpreted what has happened with wikileaks. This is from his website intercept from earlier this week. He said wikileaks has always been somewhat controversial but the reaction has intensified because its most significant leaks have had an impact on the u. S. President ial election and in particular have focused on democrats. Who result, republicans long vilified the group as a Grave National Security Threat have become its biggest fans. Groupats who cheered the now scorn it as an evil espionage tool of the kremlin. If you want to read grennan Glenn Greenwald on wikileaks you can go to the intercept. Sivan stephen is in sioux falls, a thirdparty supporter. Caller i disagree about joan signs position as Bernie Sanders host i think we lost stephen. Janice in plymouth, michigan, a trump supporter. Caller good morning. Slammedwho called and , unfortunately by attacking the messenger the message still gets through. That is if the media reports it. Unfortunately in todays political atmosphere, all we hear a bad things about donald trump. We do not hear the whole truth about Hillary Clinton. Now this wikileaks revelation does not impact my vote. I already voted. I and over 70 so i get to vote absentee ballot in michigan. I did vote for trump. That not a perfect man, two words which keep resonating in my mind, and my vote for trump is Supreme Court. The Supreme Court decisions will impact this country and all of us for generations to calm. Two,. If Hillary Clinton gets in which it looks like she might because the media is pushing her, pushing her over the finish line , come back in about 15 years hillary supporters, and let us know how you feel. I just want everyone to know that this is probably the most important election in decades here in america. Voting forider even if you i was a lifelong democrat. I supported Hillary Clinton in the michigan primary in 2008 and i saw what the Democratic Party did to her. They took away delegates from her, they gave them to obama. It was the same deal, they were pushing him over the finish line. His storied presidency. It is not fair host you say this is the most important election in decades and that is something we often hear during election season. Why is this the most important election in decades, because of the candidates who are running or because of the issues and the time . Caller a lot of it is the issues, especially the issue of the terrorism threat. Case, i just did a complete turnaround with Hillary Clinton. These Wikileaks Revelations, i have known about these things. If you do some digging you can find out. You have to widen your scope of Information Sources and not rely on the socalled Mainstream Media. I even count fox in the Mainstream Media. You have to go to obscure overseas newspapers and journals. I am so disappointed that downry has dragged herself. Support dishonesty. Thank you for allowing me this platform. What tow do you know trust when you go to those obscure places on the internet or overseas . We have lost janice. Clinton, oned hillary politico with a story about the Clinton Campaign response to the Wikileaks Revelations. Here is a bit from that story. It notes that as for the she was notrself, focused on the hack and another person who travels with the candidate says she has adopted as a matter of principle the position that she will not discuss the leaks because she does not want to play into their hands. She does remain worried about the political impact of disclosures like the excerpts from her longsought after wall street speeches, which included a comment suggesting a politician should maintain a private and public position on clinically contentious matters. But mostly in the words of politico, she is pissed. Stone haveoger denied any connection to wikileaks founder Julian Assange, the russians, or the hacking, but the current and former Law Enforcement and intelligence agencies say those links will almost certainly be examined. Discussing the suspected russian ties and questioning Donald Trumps own ties to russia, here is a little bit from that web ad. Imagine a candidate for the president of the United States with suspicious and undisclosed ties to a foreign country. Imagine that country was running to affect the outcome of the u. S. Election. We know that russia is trying to meddle in our election. They are confident the russian government directed the recent hacks. Donald trump was reportedly briefed on russias efforts but continues to deflect brame blame. It could be china or somebody sitting on their bed that weighs 400 pounds. Russia has been propping up far right parties in europe. Marine le pen in france. ,hey are xena phobic nationalist, antiimmigrant, antimuslim, and they want to weaken the European Union. Russia has also been connected to strategic hacks and weapons of cyber warfare. Why would they have an interest in seeing donald trump win the election . It is frightening how is campaign on lines. Russias number one Foreign Policy goal is to weaken the European Union and nato. Trump calls nato obsolete and suggests he would not defend our nato allies unless they pay up. He also called for removing troops from overseas. Host that was from the clinton briefing is what their Rapid Response team is called the full ad available on their website. This morning we are talking about the Wikileaks Revelations, asking whether they will impact your vote on election day. Dorothy is an undecided voter from clinton, michigan. Are you with us . Melvin in mount pleasant, South Carolina, a Hillary Clinton supporter. Caller good morning. I would just like to say there is nobody a trust or than Hillary Clinton. , these also like to say people say you cannot trust her. Trust about what . It stinks how people can believe this stuff. Donald trump is a flip scripter. He throws out diversionary tactics. He reviles the media and when he makes these scripts, he wants to come down on the media, i love the media because they tell it like it is. We are not going to fall for that. We are going to get hillary in because trump would say or do anything just to win. He destroyed all the republican candidates. Hillary all the way. Seems like you are implying that donald trump had some connection to wikileaks. The has denied any involvement in what has come out. Caller that is exactly what im saying. Donald trump will deny anything. He thinks because he is so rich he can talk his way out of it. Nobody is that dumb. Krapp believe that crap. This lady has 30 years with honest, hard work. The last time a clinton was in the office, everyone was working , the budget was balanced. Booksn write all the about, they claim stuff about him, about her, and turn around and write books and sell it to the same people. Host that is melvin and South Carolina. Speaking of South Carolina, a series of tweets that came out yesterday from South Carolina republican congressman jeff duncan gained attention. Jeff duncan talking about wikileaks. He wrote, thank god for wikileaks doing the job that Mainstream Media wants. Wont. He said that is not praise for assange, never have condoned illegal activity. Maybe if Hillary Rodham clinton had not destroyed emails. That is one of the members of congress tweeting about what has come out for wikileaks. We are asking whether this revelations are going to impact your vote. Randy is a third supporter in clearwater, florida. Caller good morning. The wikileaks, they should not do that. Hacking, in my opinion, is considered an act of war. Whether it is china, russia, iran, you know, but once it is out there we have to discuss it. I also want to remind people , thetrump and clinton people that voted for other candidates got millions of more votes than they did and somehow we got the, these two. I am not voting for either of them. Personing to vote for a that is on the constitutional write in. Host you say you are concerned about the rigged election process . Caller Something Like that. There is a lot of information. I watch cspan and the hearings, watch stuff that goes on in the administration and the senate and the house. And i watch all the news stations. , that is against the law. President should have done something about it over the past , like the nsa, to block with more security from being hacked. Theres about 100,000 people trying to hack our government agencies. Host speaking of the white house, this report out in several papers today, the white house did not deny reports monday thinking the u. S. To a cyber attack the cutoff access to Julian Assange following his of embarrassing emails that have undermined Hillary Clintons president ial campaign. White House Press Secretary john says he josh earnest isnt authorized to discuss any possible classified operations by the u. S. His Internet Access has been cut by an unidentified state actor. He has been holed up in the Ecuadorian Embassy in london. , good morning. Caller good morning. Is,tatement about wikileaks i am like a lot of people. Hacking is against the law, it is a terrible thing. A whistleblower is a whistleblower. You have got to take the information. We would not have known about the fbi quid pro quo with the emails, then destroying the laptops. Host that story about the fbi and quid pro quo offer was not wikileaks, that came from notes released by the fbi. Caller but the wikileaks brought up some other good issues like the servers and stuff like that. , the American People want whistleblowers but they do not like lissa blowers because it is like whistleblowers because it is like squealing. The information that is coming out is a threat to the National Security. It is looking at Hillary Clinton , is she a National Security threat or is donald trump . As a veteran, that is what i looking at. I am not personally a trump train supporter. I really want to dr. Carson, but trump brought in some good, smart mines and i look at that. I also look at how Hillary Clintons core is. With the wikileaks stuff, you look at who is better for the country when it comes to a National Threat . I think clinton is more of a threat to American Security than trump. Is in miamisburg, ohio, an undecided voter. I do not know if i could pick either one of the crooks. I am a Firm Believer that crooks, politicians, and government have a three ring circus going. All they want is our votes so they can get in the program and forget all about us. I am still undecided so i guess i will vote for my two dogs. That way i will get more representation than from any of them. Host lets step away from the president ial contest for just a moment. Viewers onpdate our some of the stories about the congressional races happening around the country. As a reminder, in the Senate Democrats need a gain of four seats to win the white house. They need a net gain of five seats if donald trump wins the presidency to take the senate. On the house side, democrats would need a net pickup of 30 seats to take the majority. Side,ng on the house fundraising reports that it been released, congressman will heard raised almost twice as much as pete gallego. According to those Campaign Finance reports released over the weekend, the story from the Texas Tribune. The spending reflects what the Texas Tribune calls an actionpacked period in texas is only competitive race. In virginia, a democratic poll of the 10th district found Luanne Bennett leading Barbara Comstock for the first time. 46 . Ed 42 to noticing from rollcall noting that comstock was one of the first to call for donald trump to step aside. She had refused to take a position on backing him until that point. The suburban district leans republican but is a swing state on the president ial level. When story from the Indianapolis Star on that highprofile senate race in indiana. Sain bayhd can has outspent young. Youngs side has outspent the andcrat by about 3 million 30 billion has been spent in the battle for that seat held by retiring senator dan coats. On that note, a debate in indiana will be airing live on cspan two tonight at 7 00 p. M. If you want to check in on that race. Keep you updated from now through election day on as congressional races. Back to the phones on this question of whether Hillary Clintons Wikileaks Revelations will impact your vote. If you support donald trump, 202 7488001. If you support Hillary Clinton, 202 7488000. If you support a thirdparty candidate, 202 7488002 and if you are undecided, 202 7488003. Bodie supports Hillary Clinton. At whati am appalled they call the Mainstream Medias approach to this. , the wikileaksly issue is basically espionage. Everybody knows it is coming from russia and it is being fenced through, somebody has been holed up in the Ecuadorian Embassy to avoid two aggravated Sexual Assault charges, with an ax to grind. For those who do not have any memory about watergate, 44 men went to prison because they did stuff like this. This is plain and simple ationage and it is directed one person to affect an american president ial election. Watching reporters on cnn yesterday, they were so interested in gossip they barely mentioned the fact that this is basically a criminal offense. People have gone to prison. The attorney general in the 1970s went to prison for this. The president had to resign to cover up Something Like this. Host how should we treat those revelations . Caller that it is espionage, and abject attempt by a hostile Foreign Government to affect the american election, and it is as big knowledge. Julian assange is not a hero. He is afraid if he leaves the Ecuadorian Embassy he will get extradited to the United States for crimes against the United States, or to sweden to face aggravated Sexual Assault charges. It is not political, it is personal. Vladimir putin, to any to go into his reasons to see donald trump elected president . There was a reporter yesterday from the Washington Post that was just giddy with gossip. This is the same paper that ben bradley and water woodward and bernstein had in the 70s when they actually practiced journalism and not gossip journalism. Host jack is a donald trump supporter, williamson, North Carolina. Caller i am wondering why clinton changed her address. She owns two properties and i guess they are going to the clinton compound in new york to do debate prep. Getting back to wikileaks, it wikileaks and the outside rest of the worlds views gets filtered from cnn and cbs. Glad when this mess is over. Host that is jack, North Carolina. Lisa is in louisville, kentucky, a thirdparty supporter. Caller thank you for cspan. That ricki lakes revelation did not really impact me. I had already that wikileaks revelation did not impact me. I will be writing in Bernie Sanders. He was the only honest candidate in the election anyway. I agree with the gentleman two callers ago. We cannot let wikileaks impact this election. We do not know if it is credible. It is making me mad and i just do not understand why, especially fox and some other as it is ahis resourceful news outlet when it is not. Host do you think Hillary Clinton should respond and at least say whether these emails, what is contained, is true . American hero on twitter wrote that, says exactly hillary must say anything in these emails is true. Do you think that is the right approach . Caller if she knows the information. Unfortunately a lot of it is through her aides email so she might not have been aware. Host lisa in kentucky. Says assange has imprisoned himself in a room because he refuses to face his charges. Hillary testified 11 hours. Who is credible again . Cspan democrat says the main screen Mainstream Media should engage in illegal hacking . So says a republican congressman. Truth comes out, what a bunch of crooks. I want to point our viewers to a column in Washington Times over the weekend. Judge andrew napolitanos column talks about the Daniel Ellsberg pentagon papers incident in American History and what the courts have ruled on revealing stolen truths in the wake of that case. That it court ruled matters not how the document came into the possession of the media. Sees can always thieves can always be prosecuted but not the media. Since that case, federal courts have uniformly followed the pentagon papers rule. Hence much to the chagrin of the Obama Administration the media was free to publish Edward Snowdens revelations about the ubiquitous and unconstitutional nature of government spying on americans by the National Security agency. Taxsame is true for trumps returns or clintons emails. Anthony is in miller place, new york supporting a thirdparty candidate. And thankod morning you so much for the dialogue. Callers who have obviously drank the koolaid. Snowden,n assange, mr. Madden,en, bradley these people are showing us a mirror image of ourselves. Barack obamas First Signing statement was to grant immunity to Telecom Industries for having spied on the American People for over 10 years prior to him coming to office, thereby depriving the American People redress in the courts of the United States for having been spied upon. They are reaping what they sowed. Whatare just showing us our own spy apparatus is doing to the American People unconstitutionally. If they were lying they would be affecting the election in a way that might be dubious, but they are just showing us exactly what mrs. Clinton thinks, exactly what all candidates possibly might think. Shortcoming, i think American People need to know the truth so they can make a proper vote, election time. If they want an uneducated electorate it does not make any sense to me that we are being told the truth by whistleblowers. Their intentions are not devious. I think they want us to see the reality that we find ourselves in as an american society. Host nothing has surprised you, confirmed what you suspected . Face it,ets politicians have always been lying to us. Just the other night there was a report on flight 800 and it showed the coverup of a navy downing of a u. S. Airliner. They covered it up, lied about it and it cost the american taxpayers millions of dollars to cover it up. They reenacted the events. They rebuilt the airplane and the whole time they knew exactly what had happened, but yet they lied to us and it cost more money than it should have because they could have come forward. I do not think these people at the top of the food chain, i do not think they belong there. Host that is anthony in new york. Jim is in fort lauderdale, florida, for donald trump. Caller does anybody ever remember deep throat . Deep throat was an anonymous informant that could have been a mass murderer for all we knew, for decades until it came out i think it was a cia guy. Host fbi, but go ahead. Caller people thought that was the greatest thing going and i do too. I am a republican and im proud of it, and im glad. While it was going on, deep throat was somebody nobody even knew who he was. The other thing to, not all these revelations are wikileaks. Some of them are freedom of information. The way that the clinton scammed , that was freedom of information. Wikileaks did expose the fact that the Democratic Party with george soros is funding groups to undermine the Catholic Church , the most evil thing i have ever heard in my life. Any catholic that would vote for a democrat has got to realize that they are voting for, a party that is trying to undermine their religion. We have the other sources, lets take other sources. We now have a video of a group that was funded by the Democratic Party to purposely create violence at donald trump rallies. Nobody covers that. Not all of this stuff is wikileaks. Besides, even if it is, they are assuming that it is russia trying to undermine the election. Maybe their motivation is they are always accused of suppressing the truth in their own country and they see the same thing going on over here. Repugnantust be, feel that we are doing the same thing over here and they are showing us how it is being done by the Democratic Party. Florida ands jim in he mentions revelations about comments about catholics. Week, ory came out last House Speaker paul ryan called leaked emails and insult to millions of people across the nation. The emails appeared on wikileaks and date back to 2011. Several clinton aides discussed the catholic vote and the faith, as they criticized as unfair to women. That was just one of the stories about some of the revelations from the wikileaks emails. We are asking how might they impact your vote. Well is in lake elsinore, california, supports Hillary Clinton. Caller thank you for taking my call. What about the 22 million emails that came up missing during the bush administration, 2003 to 2008 . A lot of those emails involved. Mds, outing of a cia agent fact, i think mr. Fitzgerald who was the prosecutor at the time with scooter libby, he said if he could have gotten, those emails were released then possibly dick cheney would be tried for crimes. Fast forward to this election cycle and these Wikileaks Revelations that have come out. Caller i have problems with it like any other classified information that goes around. I also at one time or another classificationet or clearance. I have been around people who handle it. We knowportant that what our government is doing and what people are talking about, but to have someone sitting out trying to let a little piece of information here and there and let it drip out really, ithing that is not going to bring the government down. I have not heard any information in their that anybody has released that is going to affect National Security. I do not care how much people scream and holler about it but what is there about the fact that she handled that information wrong . , 22 milliont emails versus 33,000 emails. Going to houston texas, supports donald trump. Wikileaks does not bother me one way or another. I wish they were not even publish them because they are private emails. A lot of people are going to say different stuff in private emails that they do not want out. I think most of the country has turned into socialism, which i totally disagree with. What a lot of people say is everybody else trying to determine our elections, but they will not mention how obama tried to affect great britains elections when he come out and threatened them on the trade deal. Euro,y got out of the then he would push them way down on the latter. To affect not trying another countrys elections, i do not know what you would call that. Organizationsedia should not publish these because they are private emails. Should they not play that access Hollywood Tape because it was a private conversation between donald trump and billy bush on that bus that just happened to be recorded . Caller i do not think they should actually really publish that either. It is what it is. , people is going to say a lot of things in private they might not say out in the open. Host you would rather not see what is said in private . Like most politicians, they are going to tell you one thing that you want to hear about when they get behind the scenes they will tell you what they really think. Just like when hillary talked to the wall street journal to wall street, what she tells them is not what shes going to tell the people. Host would you rather not know what politicians really think . Caller i do not think either way we are really going to find out what they think. I do know that she is for open borders. I am completely against completely open borders. Host lets go to robert in massachusetts on the line for those who support Hillary Clinton. Caller good morning, sir. There is one thing in america people have got to understand. Donald trump does not want to be president. He does not want to be president. Host why do you think that . Caller who in his right mind that has a plane, a golf course, women, anything a man wants, why would you give this up to be president . Ahead hee he becomes does something to bring himself down. He does not bring anybody else down but himself. He does not want to be president. He is enjoying his time with the people following him. Straight, donald trump does not want to be president. He runs around the world. Host come back to wikileaks which we have been discussing. Caller wikileaks is like Richard Nixon. If anything knows anything about Richard Nixon you know about wikileaks and anything else. History repeats itself every 40 years. Now i have donald trump 40 years later, black lives matter is going backwards, court is going backwards, women are going backwards. It is ridiculous. Understandtrump, this man does not want to be president. If he wanted to he would stay on the teleprompter host . Story thatwikileaks is causing headaches for the Clinton Campaign on the front page of usa today. Statey clintons department and the Clinton Family foundation is closer than even donald trump had known. Though it is widely known that some companies and Foreign Governments gave money to the foundations perhaps in an effort to gain favor, one of the key parts of the puzzle hasnt been reported. At least a dozen at the same companies lobbied the state artment in using lobbyists provided limited answers to said theyof usa today had done nothing improper. Time for a few more calls. We ask this question, how have the clinton Wikileaks Revelations impacted your vote . Hattie is waiting patty is waiting, supporting donald trump. At the i was looking news this morning about the wikileaks thing. They said they are going to cut assange. Nternet to so he cannot get it out anymore so we will not find out what is in those wikileaks documents that he has. Then i am watching videos of these guys planted at trump rallies to start fights, and they have got them all over the place. It is a conspiracy. Hillarynews media clinton. What does that tell you right there . Host patty referring to a , out onut from journalist Campaign Contributions that came out yesterday. Journalists shower Hillary Clinton with campaign cash, far fewer making contributions to donald trump, Dave Leventhal that report. A little bit later we are going to be talking about that in the later part of our program. I want to get in a few more calls on wikileaks. James is in texas, a thirdparty supporter. Caller good morning. Giving that wikileaks out these emails on the dnc, i think it proves a good, important point for america to Pay Attention to. The dnc server was protected far more than her state Department Server in her basement. What happens when email start coming from that server and they use those emails to blackmail our president . What will we do about those emails . Host that is james in texas. The report on journalist Campaign Contributions is from the center for public integrity. We will talk about that a little bit later. Jeff, silver spring, maryland supports Hillary Clinton. Caller i want to thank cspan for the service they provide. There is so much momentum against trump, the wikileaks disclosure is not going to be able to change the outcome. I wanted to take the opportunity to say that i am a little surprised that nobody has asked the former republican nominees why they did not think to expense cap has been a sexual predator. It might have taken him down before he had become the nominee. Host you are talking about the timing of Opposition Research . Caller yes. All they had to do was listen to him on howard stern. He is all over the place demonstrating that he is a sexual predator. Host three weeks to go until election day, do you think we are done with Opposition Research docs by campaigns or wiki leak revelations that could still come . Caller unless they come up with something much more powerful or that the direction is kind of the way it is. It is not fair to me why Julian Assange and wikileaks has it in for clinton. Do you have an answer for why that might be . Host we are just trying to go through the news reports about the Wikileaks Revelations that up and coming out, trying to get your thoughts, what you think the impact has been. Curtis is in mississippi, an undecided voter. My point is that i do world, erstand how in the if someone accuses you and it is , he should have turned over his taxes, she should have turned over all the emails and it would be settled. One controversy over another. I was falsely accused in a court of law and i would, with my guns blazing to explain myself. You are running for the president of the United States. How could you not do that . Host an argument for full disclosure . Caller yes. Ohio is next,on, supports a thirdparty candidate. Believeit is hard to that the election could go this , and i do not see any third party coverage. Channels. N , didntr small point , when the money to , toelis had their election try to not get him reelected . On the am not an expert Campaign Finance donations of all our elected officials, but what are your thoughts on wikileaks . Unsubstantiated information. How do we know that it is the truth . Host barbara in sterling heights, michigan, supports donald trump. Caller good morning. I am glad the wikileaks are coming out. Mediae the mainstream never says anything bad about hillary, never tells us the truth of what hillary and bill clinton did, what bill clinton is doing with women and what hillary did two Different Countries of the world. She started wars everywhere. She is responsible for a lot of the wars. They are always saying something bad about donald trump, what he did two women 12 years ago, 15 years ago. We do not care about that. We care about what is going to happen in the future, but they are going to do for our us as people, like Social Security, economy, terrorism. They are bringing in all kinds of refugees here. How do we know terrorists not coming in . All those people that were shot in the orlando or california, they were children of refugees. We do not know what is going to happen in the future. The need to start caring for our country, america. Ost barbara our last caller next, we will be joined by realclearpolitics senior elections analyst sean trende. He will be here to discuss his work analyzing the latest polls from campaign 2016 and the latest Electoral College map as the president ial campaign enters its final three weeks. And later, early voting underway in campaign 2016. University of florida associate professor Michael Mcdonald will be our guest. All coming up on washington journal. When you grow up in an environment like i did, you need a lot of people to play political role in your life for you to have a chance. Heroic role in your life for you to have a chance. This is the story of how they impacted my life in positive ways. Sunday night at q a, growing up in a poor white family. It is his memoir. There was not a clear connection between education and opportunity because even the people who did pretty well in school did not necessarily make. Whole lot of themselves you saw so many people not really making or having good opportunities. It was hard to believe School Matter that much. Sunday night at 8 00 eastern on cspans q a. Eastern on cspan and www. Cspan. Org. Or listen on the free cspan radio app. Washington journal continues. Host we had out to columbus, ohio, where we are joined by sean trende, realclearpolitics senior elections analyst. Sean trende, a big part of your job is to sort through election data and stories to give a sense of the state of the race, so three weeks until election day. What is your sense of the president ial race . Guest i do not think there is much doubt some doubt but not a lot that donald trump is in deep trouble. He is down about seven points in the National Polls. If you look at the state polls in the Electoral College, a little better but not a whole lot. You would have to see this torque movement the last three weeks to pull this off Historic Movement the last three weeks to pull this off. Host there were 20 polls that came out that you had on your website on sunday. Another 15 or 20 yesterday. How do you read the polls and make sense of it to give that . Guest polls come with error margins, so you can have a stable race of clinton ahead seven points and get polls showing clinton up for and polls showing her up 11 from random chance. The best thing to do is take an average of the polls and juice up your sample, if you will, and that will give you the best. It will not be 100 accurate but better than just taking your favorite poland going with it. Host real clear politics known for the polling average. Heres what the race stands on their website. I can show you the chart in a fourway race. Clinton up seven points. We found out yesterday that the Clinton Campaign spending your money in arizona and polling showing competitive races in conservative places, alaska and utah. What do you see as the states ,hat may be most likely to flip that word battleground states, on your radar at the beginning of the cycle . Guest certainly utah. That is a state where there is a fifth party candidate, evan mcmullen, who has gained traction, almost entirely on donald trump spat and donald trump never performed particularly well with those voters. Alaska is a quirky state with a strong libertarian party. That is conceivable that donald trump could lose. Hand, we have seen close polls out of new mexico. Johnson as the former governor, i do not expect that to flip but that is when that could be closer than we expect given the national margins. Host sean trende here to answer your campaign 2016 questions. If you are supporting donald trump, 202 7488001. If you are supporting Hillary Clinton, 202 7488000. If you are supporting a thirdparty independent candidate, 202 7488002. If undecided, 202 7488003. Call, i want to show the current state of the race litics count. Rpo two in a Electoral College votes likely category per Hillary Clinton. 170 in the same state brains for donald trump. There are 112 right now, or the trouble of 12 votes that are in the tossup category. Votes that are in the tossup category. Guest the big changes to what has come out of the board recently. Utah is a newcomer to the race, but we have had some state polls cannot recently that are little better for donald trump than in the past. Ohio is a state that looked like Hillary Clinton was opening a to basicallyback attack. Nevada is looking like narrow clinton lead. What is surprising from an historic perspective is a state like pennsylvania, which is typically within a few points from ohio, is Holding Strong for clinton. One of the few swing states to the west of her National Average or close to the National Average. Host you mention president ial polls that you have been sorting through. I can show our viewers a list of all the polls that have come out in the past couple of days. One of the polls that sticks out is a bit of an outlier and when you have written about is the l. A. Timesusc tracking poll. Why does that seem to be an outlier and not trending in the same directions as most of the other pulling out there . And l. A. E usc poll times is an interesting poll. They are not drawing random samples from the country as a whole like most pollsters. They have a set of 3500 respondents they continually draw from and sample after sample. There are concerns that may lead to the heisenberg effects, or in the experiment and they changed the experiment, they change their responses. The other thing is they w eight them differently. Weig them with traditional methods, theh liquid National Polls. It explains why they are different. Trackingat l. A. Times poll currently has donald trump ahead by less than two points. As he said, different from the real clear politics average of polling that has Hillary Clinton up seven points. Again, if you want to join the conversation, bloglines if you are a republican, 202 7488001. Hillary clintons are democrats, 202 7488000. Independents, 202 7488002. Outside the u. S. , 202 7488003. Sean trende is answering your questions all things 2016 until election day. Charles up first in West Virginia, independent. Could one. Good morning. Caller good morning. Always watch you and thank you i lost you. Host we are listening. Go ahead. Caller i have static. I do not know what to do. Keep leaning toward a thirdparty candidate. I was sent on gary johnson but with the one comment to made about aleppo. I have been voting for many years. I am 65 and this is the hardest election i have had to deal with. Host sean trende, do you want to take that specifically on fortunes of thirdparty candidates . Guest charles, even if the nail on the head that this is a bizarre election. Not one we can fall back on your traditional, ideological views because the candidates are different than what we had in 2012, which by historic view is a pretty state election now, seemed crazy at the time. For thirdparty candidates, gary johnson, the libertarian candidate, one of the interesting things about his cap is the libertarian point of view veryreign policy is not strong. He has not focused much on Foreign Policy because his entire campaign is focused on hisstic policies, so given noninterventionist stance, it doesnt surprise me that he had Foreign Policy gaps. That is a big issue for American Voters to sort through. Host staying on the line for independents, steve from california. Good morning. Caller good morning. My question is actually how the trend is going to congress. There has been talk this morning i am an independent but lean to the right. The congress generally does not concern me. I will vote for clinton but i want to you they are talking about the house possibly flipping. Im wondering about that. I happen to like ryan. The senate what does it look like at the senate and house . Steve, i will talk about the house because i think we will have time to talk about the senate. Trumpse tape about comments about Sexual Assault dropped, a lot of people, myself included, that the house would drop because he had house and Senate Candidate distancing himself from trump. If you look at the national do want the republicans or democrats to control the house, democrats had the seven point lead and that was cause for concern for republicans. Since then, it has fallen back to three points. I think what might ultimately happen is a lot of the voters, like yourself, steve, who cannot but do notald trump, care for secretary clinton, will cast a strategic vote, where they vote president ial for democrats and it makes it more likely to vote republican down ballot. A dynamic like that in 1996 and we could see that again this year. To give anant overview of the senate races and what your range of potential pickups for democrats this year is right now . The senate is crazy. I feel like we say that every year, but it is. The ranges somewhere from no toocratic cups pickups eight. We have a lot of senate seats that are really, really close. That pennsylvania race has been less than one point for about one month. Wisconsin, where people had given up on ron johnson, now looking like a tight race. Indiana, the people that evan was a shoe in, very tight race, so of the races like florida, where marco rubio has not put it away yet, could ultimately flip if it turns into a democratic way that the end. Host we are talking with sean. Rende with realclearpoliticals with this until 9 00 as we go through house, senate and the presidency. We said realclearpoliticals currently has Hillary Clinton up seven points. You wrote about this recently. Trump then able to make up larger gaps than that in one months time in the past . Guest yes. Q is down substantially in august of 2015 he was down substantially in august 2015 and it was tied at two. He was down in the heat of the after. And it was tied after the dnc, he was down eight in average and by september, a twopoint race again. The problem is were getting close to the election. He is running out of time. There is a difference between being down by a touchdown in the Second Quarter were two touchdowns even, and being down that much in the fourth quarter, which is where we are right now. I do not think it is impossible that donald trump could pull this out. 538 gives an 11 chance of winning and one in 10 odds happen all the time, but 10 of the time of that but he is the underdog. Host are you willing to give odds at this point . Guest we look at the poll averages and leave it at that. I think i will stick with nates been awho has president ial elections in the past, i think 10 is right. Host tall in connecticut, democrat. Good morning. Caller thanks for cspan. I would like to have your guest respond. My comment is that all the focus on polling turns the president ial election basically into a sporting event, and basically what that does is it ands away from the time energy that could be put toward. Olicy of the candidates we constantly are talking about where they are in the polls, whether it is up and down. Personally, i believe the polling is fairly off because the sampling pools are just too like to havewould your guest comment on mother it is detracting from policy discussions. Thank you. Guest caller on whether it is detracting from policy discussions. Thank you. Guest people want to know the state of various races. It gives some information on the future. We go out of our way to put policy discussions on our front page and make a lot of our way policyboth sides of discussions. Research long been hard for the best right and left take on the issues of the day. There has been a lot of discussion on things like Donald Trumps policy on immigration. Everyone knows he is in favor of deportation, ban on muslim immigration, so forth. I think there has been less coverage of clinton in her policy viewpoints but i think it is because she is more conventional democrat, so you kind of know where she is coming from. But i kind of get concerned about. This has been in the cycle too much, and i dont want scandal theater because a lot of the things donald trump has said are newsworthy, but i think there has been disproportionate coverage, especially with respect to clintons policy. Host were talking to viewers about the impacts of wikileaks and the revelations they have had. Take . S your guest guest i thought they could of had a bigger impact on the democratic primary, where they seem to false to the core of Bernie Sanders critique of the clinton that she was a globalist, in the pocket of wall street. I think the idea was that dropping them before the election might cause clinton voters and sanders voters to go for joe stein or gary johnson, but the problem of wikileaks is it is being overshadowed by the Sexual Assault allegations against donald trump. Host we will showed our viewers the political cartoon in usa Hillary Clinton standing under a storm cloud of wikileaks, holding up an umbrella the donald trump access hollywood take. Good morning, on with sean trende. Caller good morning. I enjoy your program and i will be 70 years old. My birthday coming up in april. Ofave been an avid follower politics ever since i was in the air force in 1968. I have seen trends come and go, bias ofe, this blatant the Mainstream Media against one candidate to try and sway the election, the media, to me, has gotten way out of kilter with their obvious i. S. In trying to persuade voters across the country. Another thing is the Entertainment Industry out of hollywood. They seem to be in lockstep with the Democratic Party. Take theyou metropolitan use outlets, the like a wave. It is they are all doing what they to make sure that donald trump is tarnished and seen in the worst light possible. Host who do you trust . Caller i trust my gut instinct. Vote both ways, but this time, and looking at the past four years, when you look at the National Debt and where it was when Obama Took Office and where it is now, i do not see 10 thation worth of benefits guessown or been i results have been the amount of massive debt we accumulated in just 10 years. Do not see the effect the cities are decaying. I have been in 41 states in the country. I worked on Critical Care equipment for almost 35 years and i have been in every major city except seattle and portland and boston. The cities are absolutely crumbling. Chaos is everywhere. There is polarization between the parties. Statesates versus blue red states versus blue states, it is very troublesome. Host thank you for your perspective. Have a good 70th birthday this spring. Sean trende, i will let you jump in on the different issues he brings up. Guest thanks for the question and thanks to your service. Twitter. Ee it on if i put something out that is even remotely favorable to donald trump, my time on explodes, but the opposite is true, as well. Anything favorable of clinton, a time when explodes. My timeline explodes. It is interesting because it is not so much the traditional leftright split, there is a cost dimension, where you have collegeeducated voters regardless of ideology, are more likely, not [indiscernible] but i more likely to support the democrats, and i think that classifies and shows up in things like newspaper endorsements. Thesepart of why Republican Newspapers that have never endorsed a democrat or have done so once or twice, are doing so this cycle. On the your instincts coverage of this election are probably correct. At the same time, i do think that the core stories have gotten out there. I think Donald Trumps Sexual Assault allegations are newsworthy. I think it has been attentive coverage of Hillary Clintons email coverage issues. I think at the end of the day, sidedless of which journalists favor, the information voters need to make their mind up as gotten out there. Host the story in Washington Post wrapping up the eight allegations from named accusers , variousonald trump Sexual Assault allegations, and allegations of unwanted groping. If you want to read that story in todays Washington Post. Alice is in mount laurel, new jersey, republican. Good morning. Caller good morning. I just wanted to express my opinion. I think donald trump will get us out of this what is it . 20 million in debt for the country . Obama has done nothing for the country but pull us down. I know people out of work that they have to work two or three jobs. I think Hillary Clinton clinton, she cannot stand by herself. She has to have Michelle Obama and obama, which i think it is a because she cannot stand by herself. She has to have all theseleading people. Theseleading people. I think that is terrible. I have never heard that in my lifetime. I am 87, and i have never heard of the president and his wife ever getting involved in a Campaign Like she has. , when correction on the number. You are talking about National Debt. I believe close to 20 trillion dollars as ofin this money, from the u. S. Debt clock with a running tally. Sean trende on campaign surrogates. Guest thanks for calling, alice. I do think president obama has been more aggressive in supporting secretary clinton than the past president s. Some of that is by chance. President bush was not very popular so they did not want among the trail. President clinton was popular but because of the lewinsky scandal, al gore wanted to distance himself. Recent times, this is pretty unusual. What i thought was interesting about alices comment in question is that people tend to ely think that Donald Trumps comments on immigration and muslims are the reason people vote for him, but alice put forth standard reasons for doing so, the state of the National Debt, how the last four or eight years have gone. The point is and i like the peoplelluting supporting barack obama because there is a classic supporting culture, so i went to take this opportunity to say that trumped and peopleis complex have various reasons for supporting him. The media narrative couldve been better is exploring the nuances better. Host a couple callers talking about political polarization. One saying it was the worst i have seen. How do you judge polarization . What is a good way to compare that every four years . Can look at the National Average of the election and look at how many states are within that National Average. If you go back to the 1960 election, which was virtually tied, the popular vote was close, a majority of states were within five points of the National Average. It made sense for nixon to try and visit every state that election. If you go to a we are today, it is a little different than four years ago. Four years ago, there were six to eight true swing states. Will bection, there more because Donald Trumps supporters predictable and he is breaking out of the polarization. Breaking democrats into the republican bowl and pushing some republicans out, but that is how to get polarization and try to measure it. Host halfhour left with sean ofndy of with sean trende realclearpoliticals taking your questions. Tony in connecticut, democrat, next. Caller good morning. I would like to make a comment. Number one, on the election that donald trump says is rigged, in andtate and city, i worked was moderator of the many elections in my state and my city for the government, senate, whatever, and there was none in the time that i have worked any of these campaigns that were being raped. Everything was on the end up, number one. Number that were being rigged. Everything was on the up and up, number one. Number two, no one has said that they will do about these elderly people on Social Security. We have been kicked to the side and have not had a raise in three years. I have family members that were on the military and those guys are below the wages they are supposed to get, and donald trump trying to ride it making people go crazy, maybe in some cities, but the state that i come from, all our polls are manned with the finest people that work and i have never seen any rigged elections. My main concern is that being a imt, i have decided undecided on who to vote for, but they have never mentioned what they would do for Social Security. We have not had a raise in three years. That is my final comment. Thank you. I do not think the election is rigged. I will certainly agree with the caller. About no one issue talking about Social Security, i think that is interesting. While i do think there have been more discussions of policy that sayle suspect, this isnt 2012, where there were deep discussions of policy and a lot of economic policy. Most of the discussion this cycle has centered around immigration, religious freedom, things like that. I think part of what is behind is theres not enough to talk about policy is the candidates are not talking about the issues that resonate with voters. One thing interesting about unlike thep is that republican ticket from four years ago, he isnt that much of an economic libertarian. He is probably much more explicit in favor of defending entitlements then the romneyryan ticket four years ago. That approach, which if im understanding the last of the caller correctly, they could have precedence with undecided overshadowed by his incendiary comments. It is an interesting question forward for the republicans, whether an approach more similar to trump without the incendiary comments might have some resonance with the voters. Editorial today on rigged elections, several in the papers but this one from the wall street journal. The headline trumps rigged elections and bernies. Saying that the liberal freak out over Donald Trumps allegedly unprecedented and dangers remarks could use perspective. Where would mr. Trump possibly get the idea that the system is rigged . Mr. Trump always overreacts is on a path to lose and if the rates about the illusion of democracy like lasted in palm beach, he will deserve to, but in winning ugly, mrs. Clinton and the left to pay a steep price in an even more polarized and divisive politics. Do you know what this might mean in november for this country . Guest im not particularly concerned about outright rigged elections. We know there was a poor fraud that goes on but not to the extent that donald trump is alleging no there is vote fraud that goes on but not to the extent that donald trump is alleging. In 2004, if i had a nickel about iaring about voting machines, would at least have 100 in my pocket. That was not from john kerry, and that is important. At the end of the day, i am interested to see what happens after the election. It donald trump loses by six points and presses the claim he was robbed, it would be destructive for the country. If he loses by six points and concedes, i would say, this was trying to motivate supporters to go to the polls. We will see how he approaches it after voting. Host in kentucky, independent, bob, good morning. Caller good morning. Thanks for letting me talk. The one thing i admired about donald trump, he must have a spine of steel because you got the republicans against them, all the democrats, all the media, and hollywood crowd, yet, he is standing straight. As far as im concerned, that is the definition of a man. Trump is the only patriot running, so he is the man, and i want to thank you for letting me talk. In memphis,e is tennessee, republican. Enny is inng k memphis, tennessee, republican. Good morning. Caller i am going to vote with donald trump. It is great. Rigged, the gop, republicans in name have been on the attack from day one, and the republican primary against donald trump. They falsely accused in the painting on mexicans, calling him criminals, hating all muslims, and like the last caller said, he is Still Standing and standing because he people, the american some like myself, a black american, who cares about securing the borders, jobs, they can America Great again, instead of the bamboozled by the media the liberal media, in spite of wikileaks, not even getting out, they buried the story, they want to talk about these nine women who have no hard evidence, not the shed of evidence to even constitute that trump raped them whatever the case, all men are credited in some form or some sense. Host kenny brings up the. Epublicans he was concerned about republicans attacking donald trump, more concerned in some republicans rhinos, in name only. Can you talk about that concern and what it means for the Republican Party moving forward . There is a split in the Republican Party right now. Theres not much doubt about it. I think it is a threeway split. The turn of the trump campaign, you have the poor supporters of donald trump, people more economically populous and dont care about the methods the gop favor, shment tends to and i think there is a large segment of the gop population that they are republicans and they vote for the republican. While they might not have supported donald trump in the primary or he was not the first choice, they feel like he is the nominee and the party should get behind the nominee. And thed trump loses, polls suggest he wrote, that recriminations are going to be intense. At the same time, the Republican Party looked grim in 2009 and yet two years later, it was in control of the house. That is another question altogether. Host mike is a democrat from california. Good morning. Ask youfirst, i want to about the outlier poll, the usc, but first, a couple of things. Illegal immigrants commit far less crime statistically than other people, and i would just urge people who are independents , irrespective of gary johnson being a pothead to cannot hold it, please, do not use your vote this is what happened in florida, the reason we had george bush was because people voted for roth nader. One other thing before i get to that usc poll, young people at Liberty University have renewed my faith a little bit in christianity in america. This poll, did you see these two gentlemen, one from usc and another one on the east coast who are sort of a typical polls being interviewed on tv just last weekend . Did you see that coverage . Guest i did not see the interview. Caller ok, anyway, they were explaining how the way they do it going back to people and back to people, and the reason why they have them on there is because apparently, these people are super accurate over the last few cycles. Upn i saw you come [indiscernible] they say that trump is ahead by a little bit, i am still shaking. A wayse guys seem to have of actually picking up on how things might go as opposed to that isother people, so all i have got about that. Host a little bit more on the uscl. A. Times pull. Guest im glad we got this question because i can tie up ends i have hanging. In 2012, the usc poll looked like an outlier. It had barack obama up on average in the last month by four points, while most others showed a tight race. The average of nonrand polls in the last month of 2012 was a tie, a little of 3 10 of a point to romney, but it was the usc poll that ended up been correct. Any doubthat i have about how the election goes. The usc poll is not different because of the sampling error or random chance. It is different because it employs a different technique than everyone else. 2012, the state polls were more in line with what usc was showing. This time for usc to be correct, not only the National Polls but state polls would have to be weighting the election and correctly. It is possible but not smart this cycle. Host an independent, up next. Go ahead, christian. Caller i did not realize i was on already. I had a slight disagreement with mr. Sean trende from earlier, something with gary johnson and he was saying about aleppo and libertarians and that is the reason why he said what he said is because he has gaps in his foreignpolicy, and i disagree with that and i do not believe there is a gap in any way. I think it was more of the journalist was baiting him. Im sure you have heard of quick baiting, which is on the internet and all over the place, and if you look at the interview, it appears that he baited. Ng dated just interested if this opinion will be changed out what i am saying . Guest people can watch the tape for themselves and decide. Just about any president ial candidate should be able to name a Foreign Policy leader. I think it is giving gary johnson the benefit of the doubt to say, this is Foreign Policy is a new thing, kind of a noninterventionist, focused extensively on domestic policy as president. I suppose there are other interpretations and only gary johnson is the answer to that. Johnsonopinion on gary s psyche for what it is worth. Host 15 or 20 minutes left. You mentioned we could do an entire hour on the senate races. I want to come back to us and that question for you. If democrats win control of the senate, but if it is a 5050 margin and they have the white house or control of the senate or even if it is 5149, what get those partyline votes or exactly almost partyline votes, and will that mean in 2018 the map that is coming up for the senate in 2018 . Guest the conventional wisdom is that the 5050 senate, tim kaine, the Vice President , would be the tiebreaking vote. I think joe manchin is the one who controls the senate in a 5050 senate. He is very conservative democrat senator from West Virginia and up for reelection in 2018. In addition to about 15 of the Democratic Senators, Something Like one third of the caucus, who come from states that either lean toward republicans or have a marginal lean toward democrats that could be in play is 2018 is about environment for democrats. Like going to be kind of 20092010 was. In order to advance the democratic agenda, they will need of a democrat, assuming the republicans do not filibuster everything, another issue, but they will need every democrat to vote for the democratic agenda. If any of them flip on partyline votes, it fails in the senate. It really puts the Democratic Party in a bind with respect to 2018 because they cannot really give a lot of these Democratic Senators passes, and it there is controversial legislation, i do not know they will get it through. Viewers mayre bad not be happy we are talking 2018, but those races some of our viewers may not be happy we are talking 2018, but up next in new york, rob, like the democrats. Good morning. For cspan. K you donald trump is not going to win the election, but from as president would be like a deer in headlights. In,day after he was sworn if putin moved further into the ukraine and other countries, trump has no idea on what he is doing or what he is talking about when it comes to matters such as russian aggression in europe. If trump was running as a democrat, all these good old boys that call up and talk about how strong he is would hate him. If you as ready as a democrat, they would pay 10 worse than they hate hillary because i am in new york they would hate him worse than they hate hillary because i am in new york and he is a city slicker of the worst kind. The kind of individual that usually the good old boys despise and hate. They would hate him worse than they hate hillary if he was running as a democrat, and he is pulling the wool over all the that he isbelieved strong leader. He does not know if he is doing. Host anything you want to pick up on . Is fair point it about the way try partisan works. If trump or democrat, opinions of be different. I think that probably cuts both ways. I do think part of why trump has been able to pull off this bluecollar appeal and the weight mitt romney was not is because at least in the he talks and conducts himself, trump is more of a queens, new york or then anew yorker manhattanite, and that is the key distinction with white mitt romney struggled with collar voters and trump does not, not a policy issue but the way to come across and present themselves. Host cynthia in albuquerque, new mexico. Line for republican. Good morning. Caller yes, i do think that the media is biased and one that i do not watch the comes on on fox is megyn kelly. Herself upng to get there. I do not know what she is doing but she thinks she is bigshot. Another thing host did you like megyn kelly before . Now ies, i did, and did not think it was right what she did. She was the first one that electionp in the cycle. Host you mean comments about women . Caller she brought up all kinds of stuff without even i dont think she even checked it was going on. I do not like her. I will not watch her again. Talks should get rid of her. Another thing, i remember that lady that came in with a lawyer that always defends these women. It was on the show the apprentice. Her that shell is fired, she got so angry and cheap they to stay on the show beg and sheegged and she to stay on the showg. I do not believe her. I do not believe these women. They are just there but they dont realize theyre ruining smily, ruining a woman cousin. This poor woman that has to endure all this stuff, romania nia, i do not know her, i had the watched the apprentice, but i remember her. I think clinton is this like because of her husband. He makes my skin crawl when i see him. Host that is cynthia in new mexico. Trumpa brought up melania. She was on cnn last night in an interview with Anderson Cooper and asked about her husbands recent comments. I want to play a bit and then come and talk to. [video clip] i said to my husband that the languages inappropriate, not acceptable, and i was surprised because that is not the men that i know. As you can see from the tape, the cameras were not on. It was only a microphone. I wonder if they even knew that the mic was on because it was boy talk andalk he was lead on, egged on from the host to say 30 and bad stuff. Ty and bad stuff. Anderson cooper. On . Feel the host egged him no on your trump yes. Like i said, i do not know that person and you would say that kind of stuff in private. I heard many different stuff, the boys the way they and they they grow up went to sometimes show each other, this, that, in talking yes, i wasirls, but surprised, of course. , did you seeende that interview and what is your reaction . Guest yeah, i am reluctant to there is a long history of wives standing by their husbands in politics after they have scandals, so ial do not particularly judge Melania Trump for that. At the same time, i played the college sport, i have spent a lot of time talking and i have heard all types of boy talk. Donald trump was the 59yearold men at the time, and i have never heard anyone talk about just going up to women and just grabbing them. I think that is an important distinction. This was not just boys will be boys talking about glory days, it was a pretty ugly comments. Host as you look at the different polling and source through the things, can you tell story hast that the specifically had . Do you think it has made a difference when we are talking Electoral College vote counts . Where ite race probably made a difference, in part because ability candidate handled it, is nevada, where joe heck was leading in all the polls and he disavowed donald trump after the comments. Now, he appears to be behind. What appears to have happened is that a lot of Trump Supporters and nevada, and there are a lot in nevada, is that they have abandoned heck. That is one race that has made a difference. Under senate races we have not the other senate races have not seen that much movement. That one stands out. Host jim is waiting, line for democrats. Good morning. Caller good morning to you. My question is about the Electoral College. Know that a i suit actually puts the president in his place. And of the citizens to not do it and it is definitely not the people, but could you explain to me how we went from the people to us at and then got an Electoral College to put a man in and not the people put the men in . Thank you. Guest the history there is actually interesting. For a long time, for the first 10 elections or so, the people did not vote for the electors. Votee time, people who did were white men with land. They do not vote for the elector , sup carolina elected their electors into the 1850s, so it is recently that we begun collecting, having widespread suffrage that elects the electors directly. In states began binding the electors that they have to vote for who the citizens say wo the staten, but if anything, there has been a Movement Toward democratization of the president ial election. Host you are talking about nevada, lets head to nevada, brett is an independent. Good morning. Caller morning, how are you doing, sean . Guest great. Caller i just the caller just asked one of the questions i had for you, but i am 72 years old and my memory is kind of fabian, but i think there was a president ial election where one of the guys won the popular vote but did not get the electoral vote and the other question i have is you are talking about packaging them and you just pick polls and you just come up with your average. Have you done any polling on unfavorables of the congress and senate lately . Said, if is. Trump ever talked to a woman like that, my mom and dad would have slapped the taste right out of my mouth. Guest [laughter] caller if you could answer those questions about the polling and get my memory serving me right, was in there all of that with the popular vote who did not get the Electoral College vote . Host sean trende . Guest there have been four elections, three or four, i think for, or the president ial the populars won vote but lost the Electoral College. Arguably, another one, depends on how you count popular vote was in 1960, but the most recent of what you remember is 2000, where al gore won the popular vote, but the Electoral College requires you would with a certain type of coalition. You have to have sufficiently broad base for it. The good news is it only tends to happen in close elections. Al gore won the popular vote i have a point. By half a point. The Electoral College and popular vote would have lined up in more voters change their mind, so we dont see these discrepancies often. Host lets go to keith in indiana. Line for republicans. Good morning. Caller good morning. It got question but answered already but i have a comment about the election been rigged. I am voting for trump. I have been a democrat my whole life, but everybody can see our country is being thrown away. Everybody can see it. As all these immigrants are coming to our country, you want to be able to vote because that seems like what they set up this several Million People coming to our country and now theyre giving them Social Security checks and they will let them vote, so everybody can connect the lines. What is your comment . Host you are talking about noncitizens voting . Caller yes, everyone commenting on the trains coming from mexico, millions that obama let in, they will be able to vote. Host do you want to take that, sean trende . Guest we do have isolated incidents of noncitizens voting. There was an incident in colorado recently that was pointed out, but we do not have a lot of evidence that it is widespread. Certainly, they require photographic identification and proof of citizenship read it is very difficult to vote as a noncitizen. Even then, not entirely impossible. I do not think noncitizens voting is a huge issue. There are a lot of immigrants that, become citizens and have the right to vote like all , and People Like Us could have different views about that, immigrants become citizens voting is not bother me. Timesthe washington with an editorial on voter confidence. Proper identification is the way to restore confidence in election is what they write. They say, many did not vote because they do not think it is voting properly. It is way for them to identify themselves and they can be done without this committee against anyone without reasons for race, religion or politics. One of tumor calls. Paul, line for democrats. Go ahead. Caller i was wondering, when do your polls, to you you use cell phones in addition to landmines now . Land lines now . Guest we aggregate polls and do not do that ourselves. We do have some who have switched from landmines to cell phones because as you suggest correctly, the cell phone only population as good ben, an independent, morning. Caller thank you for having me, gentlemen. I have is, last year this time, we had a lot more candidates. We ended up with like two of the worst. Be a better system of voting in order to make sure we aggregate favorites . Reform you know, one vote that i kind of like is ranked course voting. You rank the candidates. You know, one of the issues is won the g. O. P. Nomination with 40 of the popular vote in the g. O. P. Primary. If people had been able to vote or second and third choice, it might have worked out some of the opposition to donald trump the end ctured, but at of the day, the voters made the oices, none of under the rules that we have, no this is where we are, this is a choice we have and for intents and purposes, one of the two candidates will be years. Nt the next four analyst, or election sean iate your time, trende, we go through the election, come back and talk to us down the road. Guest thank you very much. Host coming up, well be joined Michael Mcdonald of university of florida, talking about early voting around the coming up in is just a minute or two. To we want to take voters the white house, where the eremony is underway for the arrival of the italian prime inister, a joint news we will show you sounds and sights from the white getting ready to happen now. And if you want to see the joint News Conference taking the italian ith Prime Minister matteo renzi, 11 40, airingns at live on cspan. That white house state dinner happening tonight, our coverage arrival will be beginning at 6 30 tonight. Watch that on cspan and of course you can listen on out on adio, check us cspan. Org. Now to the battleground state of florida, university of florida associate professor Michael Mcdonald for discussion on early voting in campaign 2016. This sor mcdonald, at point, how many people have or d early and how long when do the deadlines start kick nothing for early vote nothing coming online . As of this morning, crunching 1. 9 million, we have people have voted in the election n. A state like 600,000 people have voted. Ell start seeing more numbers rolling in because at the end of this week, well see places like North Carolina start their interest in early voting. Georgia started yesterday. States, like colorado, just sent ballots through the ail and other states beginning of next week, also start their inperson early voting. Really starting to ramp up right now. Ost define what we mean advanced ballots . There is mailin ballot request, states have early inperson voting. Take us through the state laws states have many each. Guest why dont i start the how way of talking about we got to the place where we are today. So we used to have early voting, at the beginning of this country, it was difficult for people to make it to the people were here voting, county courthouses, rural areas. Ep nel election would be held over people days to allow time and convenience to travel to their polling location. 1845, we narrowed it down to one special day in have for our we federal elections. Problems ause someday for some people, especially our military. 1860, 1864, the war, ions during the civil the Union Soldiers were sending ballots back to loveland and people vote by proxy for them in that election. That abraham y lincoln would not have been reelected as president if it had not been for the ballots soldiers m the union in the field. Later in that century, states absentee ballot process. Instead of sending your ballot one, you would send it back to Election Officials. Military was for the and not soon after, other people granted the g were opportunity to vote in absentee ballot. Provide an excuse there had to be a reason why you ere casting that absentee ballot. Astforward almost a century, 1980, california adopted no excuse absentee voting, the state to really expand the early voting options beyond this excuse. Other states, primarily out in the west, also started lead. Wing californias lots of different flavors now of mail balloting. Western re of a phenomenon, although you find eavy usage of mail ballots in some eastern states, as well. The different flavors of mail things like no excuse absentee voting, having a people who st of wish to always receive their absentee ballot or as we have in florida, semipermanent list, you get absentee ballot request for two years. More and more people started lists, up for permanent states like oregon, one of the irst to do this in 2000, moved to allmail ballot elections, ollowed by washington and then colorado. There is some wrinkles, ill have to talk about with colorado seconds, they dont truly have all mailballot elections, but it was very close. This was primarily in the west. N the east, mid1990s, 1996, texas, tennessee and florida, all adopted inperson early voting. People could go to a special polling location prior to the ballot and cast their necessary person. Hat has been a widespread phenomenon more on the east coast. Colorado also does have this, only go and vote in person at special polling sameday , but can do registration, unregistered voter consist register and vote at the locations. Now we have this patchwork across the country, as you might imagine, from what i described, some places have mail ballot running others are sort of hybrid systems, doing mail and inperson early voting just inperson early vote withing excuse required voting. E we have holdouts of states that have not expanded their option the excuse. One of the most important states as we look at battleground map pennsylvania. They have excuserequired absentee voting. Tate like pennsylvania, you will see less than 5 of the votes being cast early. Critical battleground states, florida, North Carolina, hio, iowa, colorado, nevada, you could see half, twothirds, even more of votes being cast to election day. Host an expert on early voting, your questions and comments about it. With us for the next 20 to 25 so, republicans, the number is 2027488001. Democrats, 2027488000. Independents, 2027488002. Start calling in. States r mcdonald, some report return ballots by Party Registration. O what do we know about the ballots returned and what can we information . At guest yeah, so states are they mail ballots, we want to make sure no one otes more than once, that goes for any early votes. If you request early ballot, that gets entered in the system, ballot is sent out gets entered in the election system is returned ballot gets entered. If you vote early, that gets people in the system so know you cant vote more than once. Share n officials then that information with the campaigns. Some of them produce statisticos website, as well. That data they share with the voter n, often, this is information that we also have data that would be extracted voter file. It could be Party Registration, if a state has Party Registration. Be gender and age and then some states, primarily in race on voter ee registration files, as well. E get a real wealth of information in some states about who has already cast their allots and we can make comparisons to 2012 and see to 2012, how going. Is keep in mind, we have three weeks left in the election, a the f play left in election, this is what is go og right now. Circumstances can change. Ballots will be coming in w. That understanding, on the level view is east, southeastern seaboard, uch like what the polling shows, clinton appears to have strength in the early vote and polling. Performing better than obama did in 2012 in places like and nia and North Carolina florida. And that matches what is national with the polls, as well, which have seen shift toward clinton in the last weeks. This is just really fascinating what is going on in this election. Counter bill incurrence going on in the midwest. Can look atohio, we the data and see democrats are underperforming where they were 2012. That is highly unusual. Think about the 2008 election in 2008, when bama had his very definitive election win, he was winning north like indiana and carolina, which at the time North Carolina was not considered a battleground state. There was a shift across the board nationally towards obama 2012 election, excuse me, 2008 election. Are see016 election, we something states move in the direction of clinton as National Polls move in her direction, but the same time, seeing resistance particularly nt, in the midwest, that is unusual unevil pattern where one part of the country is going one way and other parts the other. If you are looking at electoral map and looking at polling numbers, you would say, clinton has a strong chance of being elected president. If there is pathway for victory to donald trump, it will places gh the midwest, like iowa, where i believe he has a lead. Flip from 2012 from the democrat category to republican. It is a good chance he may be flip ohio f. He can get a few midwestern states, mike roads, maybe in florida or elsewhere, that is his pathway to victory. Mentioned 1. 5 million arly votes, so far, as viewers start to hear the Party Registration numbers and other coming about early votes over the next three weeks, is reliable of an indicator the early vote to the actual the ts of elections in past . Guest that is why i started just ff by saying, heytis one signal we are getting at this moment in time. Where i think where the real value of early vote is when it signal to what we are seeing in the polling, that now. Hat is happening right strength in early vote in southeastern seaboard, that with s what were seeing polling numbers out of the same states. Clinton or strength for trump in midwest matches what we are see nothing polling state. The early vote suggest one signal, polling numbers are another signal. When the signals are in the same direction and both noisy, that gives us greater a truence that signal is signal and we can weed out some noise in the election. To go for place early vote result is elect org, the website Michael Mcdonald runs s. There a group that runs the website . Guest i work an association, and the associated press, so i do some data work and theyre doing Data Collection our efforts together so that we can produce the statistics as best as we can the country. There are some other faculty members, my colleague dan smith, looking, focusing closely on florida and i have tudents, as well, who are helping us with crunching some numbers there is a lot of data be crunched. Ive written thousands of lines of code in order to do this data this election, but were on top of it and every and ng i can push a button get some numbers, so we can get numbers to people as fast as we soon as they are available. Host elect project dot org. Well take a few calls with Michael Mcdonald. Shelly, a republican, good morning. Caller good morning, america. Id like to say, first of it, voting, im happy about my husband and i will be out of he country when the election actually happens. Weve already voted. As a matter of fact, we are florida, so in order to be able to vote, we literally registered, changed our address to florida and voted matter of already and course, we normally get absentee allot sent to our home in michigan. I got my michigan ballot, which i shredded. You, most people in the party i have left, would not so. Done they would have tried to vote twice. The other thing id like to say we find out and ive learned because being a democrat previously, they want my husband, to put everybody in boxes. Im tired of being a box. Dont consider myself a box or hyphenated that, any anything. Im an american citizen. Goes, as our country onald trump doesnt matter, Hillary Clinton does not matter. Hat matters is their views and Hillary Clinton awe view is to sovereignty e the thf country, give it over to foreign entities, like the wtlwhatever. Wants to d trump protect our sovereignty, as well court. The supreme this is an extremely important election. As imhe election as far concerned and ill be 61 next is the most important election of my lifetime as far as im concerned. Shelly in michigan prompt fessor, she started by talking concerns about illegal voting saying she thought other when she ht do that, was talking about shredding the second ballot she got. O you want to talk about illegal voting and incidents of fraud . Guest yeah, lets talk about ail voting and the issues with Security Issues with mail ballots. First, as i said earlier, tracking fficials are all of this election activity going on. When they send a ballot to a the ballot gets eturned and so the campaign, the Election Officials are share thanksgiving information with sharing this and information with each other, as well. If you did attempt to vote twice of casting a thod ballot in one state and using yountee in another, because moved somehow, it is a possibility, you can do that. Have been a limited number countes, literally, i can them on both hands, of people prosecuted for doing that sort activity. Were talking out of millions and millions of votes cast. Millions. F it is possible. But for the most part, it is a silly way to try to rig election, if you will, to are voting uals who twice. I know, some people are well reason, or whatever Election Officials can also detect this activity that is going on, as well. You run the risk of being caught oing this and then being prosecuted. So again, it is possible, but is low. Ability there are other safeguards we have for mail ballots, as well. The mail ballot, you are igning the outside of the envelope when you return that ballot. By the way, as i say this, it is very important for people to carefully follow the the envelopes and on filling out the ballots, literally hundreds of thousands of people every election cycle manage to disenfranchise themselves by not following these very important the election t officials have. Those procedures are there, not safeguard for the secrecy of the ballot, but to ake sure people arent voting fraudulently. That signature that you sign on matched allot, that is against a the voter signature Election Officials have on record. If that signature does not then the Election Officials will likely going to reject that, although in some cases, there are issues of people have a stroke and their becomes much different and so Election Officials do try to look for ways to solve the problems. Cases, if that signature does not match, that ballot will be rejected. Are safeguards of signature verification that happen to make sure that people voting in other peoples otherwise at are attempting to fraudulently vote. That is another way in which, look at if we vulnerabilitys and the electoral system, it is through the mail. Cant be 100 sure someone is the person requesting and signing that signature. Good forged very signature, but often it is not and often the election official consist detect, yes, that is a forged signature and similar to this other forged signature, hey start doing some investigation and find out, maybe it was a candidate for requestinge that was ballots and casting them in peoples names. That does happen. Rarely does it happen, but when it does happen, the lection officials are looking out for this activity and they are able to detect it. Lot of safeguard necessary place. And without a will find sensationalistic stories about or the votes, one way other. Dead people voting, noncitizens, numbers. R in rare, low it is important for people to understand this, but to sway a election, its virtually impossible to do that on widespread scale. To be spiracy that valid involved in that is far reached nd as we know from all of the hacking of emails, we would have people ething by now of doing this sort of activity and we would see signs of it and of people would have to be quiet about it. Happening s are not in the election. Yes, on individual basis you is some people do it, it just a handful of people, when you see it, try to affect an tis usually for local ffice, where turnout is exceptionally low and you have a sway the trying to election fraudulently. We often detect this activity on. G so i want to ensure everybody look, Election Officials, both Political Parties engaged many key ction and battleground states, although hearing rhetoric from donald election will be rigged against him, republicans are in charge of running the many key in battleground states f. They were oing to throw the election to clinton for some reason, sort of like that sort of defys logic, they have would kept donald trump from getting elected in the endary, if that was goal, throwing the election somehow. Safeguards, both parties are overseeing the election, even in states where republicans run the election, bipartisan oards overseeing the goterning of election within the state. Really, the opportunity for there, its miniscule when it does happen and election vigilant and on guard for when try to happen. E when it does host well get a few more call ecessary with you, before we lose you. Talking to Michael Mcdonald, university of florida, about early voting. Tom in akron, ohio, go ahead, tom, line for democrats. Good morning, john. Good morning, michael. Voter for 10 ntee years now, due to a leg amputati amputation. Mailed my ballot in last week, i realized something i never had before. Going to vote my conscious and write in Bernie Sanders name. There, side of the ballot is a section that says, the candidate must be filed to write name. I was confused about this, i called the Summit County board to verify. Bernie sanders was not filed as a writein candidate, whereas if i had written his name in, my ballot would have been incorrect and everything down below would the whole ossed, ballot tossed, do all states do it this way or is it a statebystate that does this and im just wondering how many they out there once receive their ballots, automatically write in who they realizing their ballot might be tossed . Im wondering your reaction to that. Host good question, professor mcdonald. Question, nswer this ill get history here. Back at our founding, our together athers got trying to negotiate what would be the voting qualifications for people voting in federal elections and they couldnt come o an agreement on what the qualifications would be in the federal constitution. So they punted, essentially, come to agreement, there was a special committee that went aside to negotiate it an and couldnt come to agreement. What did they do . They said, well, the voting for federal office will be the same as qualifications for the lower state legislatu legislature. They left it to the state to run the decision on how to run the election. Allowed federal government to pass laws and constitutional amendments that would overtake supercede the states laws, but thought at the time that rare event and that is actually how it played out in practice. Our elections are run on statebystate basis nsome places, really run on countybycounty basis, although the rules about writein statelevel t is a rule. And as you might surmise, then, have different rules about how the ballots will be counted. Writeins, some states require that the writein qualify that they have filed paperwork and thai writein approved as a candidate. If the candidates have not been writein for any candidate other than writeins, discarded. That is some state laws. I couldnt tell you all 50 state rules, it could, as described, could be ohio is a state that particular law. I would say if you were concerned about this, talk with officials before you cast your ballot. Interesting, there are also other interesting rules states, i know this for certain in minnesota, it is possible to change your after you cast it. And so, if you want to take back some reason, again, you might want to check with local Election Officials to that is possible within your state. And then, one last thing about a s, which is again, curiosity, is some states allow allow dead ally do people to vote. The way in which they vote, they ere alive when they cast their ballot, but died after the ballot was received by the Election Officials. States will reject those ballots, but yet, others will accept those ballots. Again, you see a lot of eculiarity, a lot of differences we look across the states in how they run their election. Showme state in st. Louis, missouri. Morning. Ood i wonder if the anomaly you were talking about the early voting are seeing that you in the midwest has a lot to do ith the strength that mr. Sanders had in the primary . He actually won iowa, they did a coin flip deal and six different if you won every single oin clip, i was very strong sanders reporter there, too. It know, we frankly think was rigged in that sense, but just to the point of what you saying early, very early on about the anomaly youre seeing, could it be because of the residual strength of the voters are not enthuzed with the choices and may go year . Party this host appreciate the question, roy. Guest so, i can look at the the state level in iowa and make comparison to 2012. Weakness for clinton in iowa really comes from the state. Part of the and those familiar with our political geography in the know there is a purplish dot in the middle of midwest. Erica in the eastern part of iowa, western part of illinois, southwestern and of wisconsin southeastern part of minnesota. We see many where lower education they have in democrats, ported but this time around, they are withholding their votes. What the reason is, as to why that motivation, no i polli polling to explain why this is oing on in this part of the country. Suspect, we dont have data out of wisconsin. We know clinton is underperforming in iowa in polls and early vote. E dont have the same quality data in wisconsin to come to a firm conclusion about the early vote, but we know shes underperforming in the polls. Shes shes got a lead in the not as strongsin, a lead as obama had in 2012. Going on in t is wisconsin is same going on in iowa, weakness among democra who rats, rural democrats, are for whatever reason, withholding their ballots. Is purplish dot in ural america in the midwest, i dont know how far expends to other states. Weakness for clinton in ohio, ight be explanation for why we are see thanksgiving poth pathway of victory for tuchl in midwest. Host time for one or two more calls. Ahead. , republican, go caller yes, hi. I have to laugh when they keep the fact that the uneducated or low education whites, what does that have to do with anything . Trump is trying to straighten ut some of the corruption out of washington, which we all need. Need the fact is he peopleed something about could check the signature to see, they are not experts to be check, those peep theyll go in and check the voting. They are not experts, they able to check to say whether or not the signature was voting was ar as concerned. That is a bunch of hog wash. Concerned, im a person, class, hourly who happens, who used to think i person. Abor years of 12 or 14 garbage that weve gotten out of ashington, its about time we ad a great change and thats corruption, with crime wimmigration, and it goes on and on and on. Ts time we got rid of the horse out of washington and get nel there ome peep who host barbara in virginia. Professor mcdonald, couple issues barbara brings up, on . Hing you want to pick up guest the reason i talk about low education whites, traditionally that is a group of democratic coalition. So the shift toward the Republican Party in this meaningful for how we understand our politics in this country. Explanation ashe to why we are seeing midwest move in one direction and outheast move in another direction, we also know Higher Education whites are moving toward the Democratic Party, is again, something part of coalition that has been part republican coalition, group part of the republican coalition. This is important as we politics moving forward. It will be interesting to see whether or not this is a durable change in our Party Coalition and might think realigning atershed moment of our Political Party a litions or if this is just onetime effect of donald trump. Ell have to watch in the coming years to see whether or not this change is durable. People likegful for myself, who look at election and try to understand the party effect it has he on election dinner politics. S far as the signature verification, you are welcome to go to your local election board verifying the signatures and watch what they are doing. Open are things that are to the public most typically. Not onlytical parties, have Bipartisan Group of people ooking at each ballot as they match the signatures. They are often, if it is a close lection, lawyers in the room, who are also appointed from Political Party candidates oversee that process. So if a signature doesnt match somebody, one of the two ides doesnt think it matches, someone will raise an objection and that ballot is set aside and have to litigate over how to count that particular ballot. Though, when art, there is signature verification going on, the ballots are approved, people look at them, both Political Parties that t them and say, yes, is a matching signature, we accept that ballot and move on next ballot. Again, this idea this is hog way, looks of checks in the system, both oversee party consist run. The process is very transparent process, process that both parties are idea it is, just the hog wash, it is selfhog wash. Mcdonald, ael university of florida, associate professor, check out elect dot org, if you want up to date information on early voting. Time this or your morning. Guest thank you. Host well be back in just a end our program today lines, en phones, phone 2027488001 if you are a republican. 027488000 if you are a democrat. 2027488002 if you are an independent. Get to the calls in a second. First, a few washington featured allers were on sunday night on hbos last week tonight comedy news program. Here they are, along with our recurring steve, in a episode of the most patient man into evision, a glimpse the most patient man on television. Steve, joining from virginia, republican line, good morning. Caller yes, about three years sandovil n named lang made a process where you can burn carbon fuel without co2. Ucing llen savory uses holistic grazing to resequester co2 back in the ground. Prince william ounty, elwood park, i built about 20 construction lands, so build lands through the space between the north pole and pole. Outh so we really dont have any environmental problem. What we have is a bunch of oliticians that want to take 1. 5 trillion dollars out of the for like windyear you can go upnia, there and look at them. It takes about two hours to get up there. 10 of them are locked up. Then you have to take a crane diesel fuel. N go back now. Host line for republican, open phones, michael, what do you about . Talk caller well, thanks for taking my call. Trump supporter. Hear a lot of rhetoric about the voting issues. Me, personally, ive had when i lived in modesto, california, here. A good friend associated with the police department. Of the t that one illegal aliens was selling false when he confronted the police about it, he said, best thing you can do is forget about it. He went to the sheriff and they told him the same thing. So many of them, fake ids and i was living in place in south of ninth street in modestona trailer park. They had a mexican girl selling ids drivers licenses and and she only got three months in the jail. People, people forgot when people were sent 1980, they rbor in would use like four different names, so they had combination four of the names, so you really didnt know who they were. Michael, your concern about fake ids, washington requiring identification at the polls universally across the united help restore confidence in election results. Still saying you wouldnt be confident if ids ere required because of the fake i. D. Stories have you heard . Yeah, it would help promote it. Like i said, when they come the border issue, a lot of them, when they are stopped you know, er, yeah, they give you a name, you dont are because fingerprints dont match the name. Host all right. Watching that interview wi yvanka trump and anderson iing he d i kept notice would give her a question and she would move her eyes over hello, hello. Host you are concerned with where she was looking during the interview. Yes, looking at cue cards, she was reading off the cue cards. I was just wondering is that host information about, larry, about what shenk was saying . Caller i couldnt Pay Attention saying because she kept cutting her eyes like cards. S reading off cue and i just want to know, dont propaganda when the somebody asks a question reads itthe questioner off a cue card . Host not something i have any nformation for you about, larry. Richard is in florida. Line for republicans. Good morning. Caller good morning. Good morning. Cspan. U to i want to talk about, let me im 75 years old. Eisenhower, im watching government and politics these se years. As parties have become more polarized, i notice divided does not work. Either party comes up with a ood idea, the other party is totally against it. If the American People say it is good idea, they may vote for the party that came up with it and everybody is afraid of power and that goes for democrats, as well as the republicans and even though i in on the republican line, i cannot vote for donald trump. Going to vote for Hillary Clinton, but im going to vote straight down the line all the way because i mean epublicans just too spiritted for my taste. Thats all. Host charles, charlotte, North Carolina, also line for republicans. Caller good morning. Thanks for taking my call. Left the and Hillary White house, bill had been accused about that time of to Paula Jones Jones and paid 800,000 settlement with her. She said she had distinguishing marks that she could anyway, they settled that case. They let the white house, there taking ries about them things out of the white house they shouldnt have taken and their d trouble buying first house as private citizens. Donors, if rely on you remember the stories. They were broke. Until todayforward and there have been articles written they are combined worth 110 million and, you know, i look at jimmy carter, he is worth 5 million. Bushs together, and they have been in private business, together, they are million and here we have hillary and bill doing with clinton ion foundation and the state department and the foreign money and foreign shes worth, they are worth 110 in ion and never sat foot the private sector. They call that Public Service . Disqualifys that all the foreign money, all the shady stuff all the they have done, i dont think anybody in the Public Office that ever be able to do to the american public. Ost rob, phoenix, arizona, is next. Open phoneos washington journal. Rob, good morning. Caller good morning, john. To talk about the sheriff and the criminal case against maricopa county. In office 24 f, years, up against another years old, end of his term. Host hes also been on this check out b, you can his past appearances on washington journal. I believe he was on during the National Convention g. Ahead with your comment. Caller yeah. I want to give you an update. Yesterdays department of papers for d charging papers for the criminal contempt. Be a misdemeanor charge, but this is cost us tens dollars in legal fees over the last eight years, this case and other law cases, it gets up to range of 150 million in cost due to negligence of this sheriff. Lastly, id like to just say there is a state welcoming people from outside of arizona to come in this weekend rallys and get out to vote campaigns, here in phoenix, be talking will issues. E sheriff host story in the new york talkingout what you are about, rob, the story noting federal prosecutors charged pyle with criminal trial, behavior the judge said showed pattern of discrimnatory policing. If convicted, the sheriff, who as made a name for himself, could face six months in jail. The authorities are weighing charge of obstruction of which could carry severe punishment, story out of new york times. Good brian, republican, morning. Caller good morning. Actually a democrat, but i used to be a republican. I want to make this comment to all the people that are upset Bernie Sanders situation. Now people, you know, they are wagon people. ve liked Bernie Sanders since like 2000 election, but then he made a grave mistake. Democratic party to become an independent. Is reaping the actions against him and appropriately was the movement in republicans, but i really think really need to understand that theres enough there that dont really like either candidate, an an independent, make independent party. That would solve the problem ith twoparty system, they would be the dominant party because were so sick of all this garbage. John. You, thank you, cspan. Host before you go, how do you parties have faired in this election cycle . Do you think its been helpful harmful to try to build a third party alternative to the parties as we move forward . Caller i think its made a huge you can ause if actually combine those two in make the independents party, you would ave a solid voting block in every election and they would be in the debate. That is something we need to consider. Do want to say, my last comment about Bernie Sanders, he reason why im voting for hillary and not for Bernie Sanders is because he is an independent. He is not a democrat. Thats a difference. Host all right. Mentioned Bernie Sanders. Bernie sanders, the topic of in the Washington Post this morning, talking bout from the wikileaks revelation, how the clinton team responded to some comments that Bernie Sanders made on the campaign trail when the issue of poverty. The story noting it was while campaigning in South Carolina senator from vermont made comments about welfare reform Hillary Clintons campaign scrambling for a response. Email showing some effort to find a response. Brian, in madison, ohio, up next, republican. Go ahead, brian. Caller its still me. Host sorry, brian, to howard in maryland, a republican. Howard, go ahead. Morning, how you doing this morning . Host go ahead, howard. Caller im calling because i a lot of the immigration problem and other problems were this country could be solved by eliminating the amount in eople allowed to come here and bleed off our social welfare and get housing and Social Security that hardworking American People sometimes get, working two jobs a day. It just doesnt make sense to me. Grocery store and see people coming out with three carts of groceries, when are working go in and lucky if they can walk out with four or five thing from ary their cart working every day. Host howard, new restrictions number of legal immigrants or refugees . Aller a lot of the system itself, a lot of the systems is restri awed, it restrictive to work. A lot of people are saying, why go to work, you can get more by not going to work everyday. This is a true fact. I mean, you see it everyday, decide if they are only going to make a certain amount of money, better off not working. Can get healthcare, housing, internet, phone, what going to work if you do better by not going to work . Ost lets head north to pennsylvania. Ruth is on the line for democrats. Ruth, good morning. Yeah, my only, the reason im voting for hillary is i ause of the Supreme Court, k that is the most host are you with us, ruth . Caller yeah, i didnt know if you could hear me. Reason im voting for hillary, the Supreme Court. The other thing i would like to i dont think as we as much of her when our own president is for social be rity that on the list to cut to make a deal with the republicans. I hope we remember that as a because that is the worst thing i think, beside the we can do to, that hurt each other. Another thing is that i know hillary will never bring back social services. President , her husband, left it still gave social services took it he banks, but away from the people that would need it. Thank you. Pennsylvania in hometown pennsylvania, richard, an independent. Go ahead. Yes, hello. I was just wondering, if the are all publicans bailing out on trump now could with tryingng to do to dilute the democratic vote, convoluted this is logic, but democrats have higher i call lazy what voters, who may or may not show in the bag for hillary, they wont show up, meaning less votes down the which would strengthen the reason effort and you have i lsters on all the time, see. So i wonder if maybe one of them could address this at some point . Is all i have. Host okay. Perhaps a topic over the last election day. Til the program it for today on the washington journal, well be right back here tomorrow morning at 7 a. M. Eastern 4 a. M. Pacific, have a great tuesday. Have welcomed the italian
