And i have heard their stories. I know that if they had their wish, they would be at home. Not in this country is a refugee. With the new president ial administrations recent actions, it is causing a lot of hate causing islamophobia. I knew i had to do something but idid not know what to do so thought this would be a good subject. [speaking foreign language] it is imperative that in 2017, congress and the new president work on bringing more Syrian Refugees into the United States. Most people are aware there is a syrian refugee crisis in the world, but what is the crisis . It has been called the worst humanitarian crisis since world war ii. The Syrian Civil War has had a real impact on the population of syria. There has been atrocities committed against the civilian population. It is not safe to be in the conflict zone. The only option people had is to leave. United states is perceived as the land of opportunity. Where everyone is welcome. The statue of liberty says give me your tired, your poor and your huddled masses yearning to breathe free. At least 29 governors in the United States now saying refugees are not welcome. What does islamaphobia mean . Islamophobia has a number of different definitions but one of the more popular ones is an irrational fear of muslims. Because of how they are presented in the media. Information and disinformation about islam and muslims. The legislation i have introduced would block Syrian Refugees. They are not necessarily a religion of peace. That is islamophobia. The rhetoric being used has an extreme part in the attacks against refugees. In 2015, there are 257 reported acts. A 57 increase according to the fbi. In 2016, people are taking to social media to report their experiences. When americans are afraid americanmuslim already in the it makes sense that they would not want more in the country. Therefore, one thing that the congress and new president can do is to reduce islamophobia in the United States. First, stop using antimuslim rhetoric and stop assigning the title of terrorist to all muslims. We will not strengthen our leadership around the world by allowing politicians to fund more programs for young people to be involved. As well as Fund Community programs to promote understanding. When we talk about the media, we should have some control over them. Citizen journalists. Young people trying to own the message and to give a voice to the voiceless and present an alternative message. So we have more people to people contact. More ethnic communities doing collaborative work. And prevent discriminatory policing. It can pitch neighborhoods against neighborhoods. Once we diminish islamophobia in this country, muslims will be safer and americans will be more willing to accept refugees in the country. Allow more syrian country . Into the one fear is that refugees will add competition to the job market and bring economic distress to the country. While it is true that it costs to settle refugees, studies have shown that in the long run, refugees bring Economic Activity to the country. Part of this is because they are more likely to start businesses. Another concern that people have is security. As you can see, extensive background checks are made to ensure the refugees coming have a legitimate reason and no affiliation with terrorist groups. These points should not be at the forefront of the argument to bring in Syrian Refugees.
