The president of the republic of poland. Most distinguished mr. President , ladies and gentlemen. It is my great pleasure to welcome to warsaw, to welcome topoland, the president of the United States of america, donald trump. I am delighted with his visit. This is one of the First International visits paid by mr. President trump. This expresses our bond and the highquality of the alliance between poland and the United States. It demonstrates that we are and that we mutually assess each other as loyal partners of those who cooperate on many different areas, including the area of security within the Nato Alliance. Today, this was one of the points of our discussion that we had during the meeting with the president followed by a preliminary session of armored allegations. We talked about the presence of american soldiers in poland and talked about strengthening the security of our property, including the eastern flank of nato. We discussed security in europe. We mention the situation in ukraine. We talked about the upcoming military exercise, which will take place in belarus. We talked about contracts connected with the modernization of the polish armed forces. We discussed the already entered into agreement between poland and the unitedstates on purchasing patriot missiles. We discussed the them limitation of a program and the implementation of another program. We discussed the things that will be implement it in the next three years in regards to strengthening the security of poland. I am delighted, after these conversations, i have a feeling the United States is thinking seriously, and donald trump is thinking seriously about security. He is thinking seriously about the United States of america as our loyal ally. The president stressed strongly strength of the polish community in the United States and the polish americans who he met before the election. Mr. President , thank you very much for that. Thank you for noticing the contribution of polish americans and the polish people in the development and the building of the prosperity of the United States. We discussed economic contracts. Not only military but also those connected with security and spoke at length with deliveries to poland. The first shipment of gas arrive in poland in the in july from the United States. This hasturned out hugely successful, no problems and no barriers. This opens up the path to more contracts and i hope that in the near future there will be a longterm contract entered intofor gas deliveries from the United States and that through this we will diversify sources of supply of this usually importantraw material to poland. In a few moments, we will attend a summit where we will discuss issues pertaining to Energy Security and pertaining to the development of the transatlantic bond between europe and the United States. Wewill also talk about the developments infrastructure in our parts of europe, Central Europe. We will discuss the development of the European Union because all of the Initiative Countries are eu Member States and when we talk about the implementation of the cohesion policy, we are limited from the European Union perspective. We want to implement it through the development of infrastructure along the northsouth exits to increase competitiveness of our countries and increasethe competitiveness of the entire European Union. I hope that we can do that in in cooperation with the United States, according to the winwin principles that there will be beneficial for the United States and our country. Once again, welcome mr. President , i am hugely delighted with your visit in poland. Thank you very much on behalf of the polish people for coming to poland. The president of the United States, mr. Donald trump, the floor is yours. Pres. Trump thank you mr. President for your gracious hospitality, we have had a wonderful stay, it has been great but the people of poland have been so fantastic. As you know, polish americans came in droves and voted in the last election, and i was very happy with that result. I want to thank you and them. It is a majestic nation, it really is, it is a spectacular place, some of the most beautiful sites. We saw coming over, very inspirational. You are rich in history and you have absolutely an unbreakable spirit. That is something we have learned over the course of many years. The president and i had a productive meeting in which we reaffirmed our enduring bonds of friendship. That had united our citizens for long times. We have never been closer topoland than we are right now. Poland is not only a great friend but an important ally and a partner with respect to our military. We have had great cooperation with poland, we fought shoulder to shoulder in many different encounters, particularly grateful for the active role poland has taken and helping to defeat isis were we have made tremendous strides andtremendous gains, which you will be hearing about over thenext period of time. Poland has trained Iraqi Special forces and flying reconnaissance missions. Anytime we requested, they have been just about their. Their soldiers have fought and work sidebyside with americans in iraq and afghanistan can and behalf of all americans, i want to salute you and thank you, veryspecial people. I want to thank the polish people for their kindness to more than 5000 american troops stationed in yourcountry. Our Strong Alliance with poland and nato remains critical to deterring conflict and making short work between great powers never again ravages europe and that the worldwill be a safer and better place. America is committed tomaintaining peace and security in central and eastern europe. We are working with poland in response to russias actions and destabilizing behavior and grateful for theexample poland has set for every member of the Nato Alliance by being one of the few nations that actually meets its financial obligations. I have been pretty hard on some of the members of nato for not and the money is pouring in. We have criticized mr. President , but i also say that people of nato are not criticizing me. The money has been pouring in, far greater than it ever would have been. It is time for all countries in the net ofalliance to get going in the Nato Alliance to get going in their obligations and i consider poland has been right there, you will exceed that number, i appreciate that very much. I congratulated the president on polands recent election to the United NationsSecurity Council. We discussed our mutual commitment to safeguarding valuables at the dutch values at the heart of our alliance, freedom, sovereignty, and the rule of law. Poland joins the Security Council at a critical time. A critical time for the world because you see what is going on. Not only must we secure our nations from the threat of council at a critical time. Terrorism, but we must also confront the threat from north korea. That is what it is, a threat. We will confront it verystrongly. The president and i call on all nations to confront this global threat and publicly demonstrate to north korea that there were consequences for their very, very bad behavior. We also discussed the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe in syria and the need to defeat isis and other terrorist groups where they controlled territory and populations. We have fought very hard and very powerfully against isis since i have been president. We have made tremendous gains, far greaterthan has ever been made with respect to that group. While the cities of raqqa and also will soon be liberated mosul will soon be liberated from criminals and butchers, we were acknowledged that syria will require a political situation thatdoes not allow terrorist organizations to return. We reaffirmed that any nation that values human life can never tolerate the use of chemical weapons. We will not tolerate it. We agreed to work to expand commerce between our countries. We strongly support the three Cs Initiative and america stands ready to help poland and other european nations diversify their Energy Supplies so that you can never be held hostage to a single supplier. Or, a monopoly. I am pleased to report that the first shipment of american liquefied natural gas arrived inpoland last month and there will be many more coming. Maybe we can get your price up a little bit, but that is ok. A tough negotiator. We look forward to making the economic tiesbetween the United States and poland even stronger. That is a balanced and reciprocal one, we want reciprocal traderelationships. We do not have too many of them. I said before that the United States has made some of the worst trade deals ever in history. That will change. That will change. Thefriendship between our people dates all the way back to theamerican revolution, a longtime, and i look forward to speaking more about these bonds when i address the entire polish nation and just a little while. We have a big crowd, mr. President. They are showing up for you and not for me, right . The word is we will have a big crowd. Thank you for welcoming melania and myself to your beloved homeland and together we can make the partnership between our nation stronger than ever before. Special people, special place, and it is an honor to be here. Thank you. Thank you, mr. President. We have time to do questions. Let us start with a guest on the United States. Is there any question from the u. S. Side . Thank you, mr. President. And like of the north korean later icbm testing, do you think they are beyond redemption or is there a chance they may make a uturn, and are you willing and ready to launch military action against them . If i may, i have to ask about this, since you started the wrestling video thing, what are your thoughts about what is happened since then . Cnn has threatened to expose the identity of the person they said was responsible. Pres. Trump what cnn did was unfortunate for them. They have some pretty serious problems. They have beenfake news for a long time, they have been covering me in a very, very dishonest way. Do you have that also, mr. President . Cnns, and others, nbc is equally bad. Despite the fact i made them a fortune with the apprentice. Cnn has taken it too seriously and hurt themselves badly. We want to see a fair price in the United States. We do not want fake news. Not everybody is fake news. We do not want fake news, it is a bad thing and that forever country. As far as north korea isconcerned, we will see what happens, i do not like to talk about what i have planned. I have severe things that we are thinking about. That does not mean we will do them, i do not draw a red lines, president obama drew a red line and i was the one who made it look a little bit better than it was. That could have been done a lot sooner and you would not have the same situation you have right now in syria. That was a big mistake. We will look at what happens over the coming weeks and months with respect to north korea. It is a shame that they are behaving this way. But they are behaving in a very, very dangerous manner. And something will have to be done about it. Thank you, david. Since we are speaking about press freedom, your party has significant eclamptic down on down onficantly clamped press freedoms in the last year and it appears to be weakening the power of the national courts. Do you think that people who live in other moderate democracies, putting some americas, wrong to criticize you for limiting with reporters can cover the parliament . To respond to your question, sir, media order is very significant thing indeed. When we look at the situation in theUnited States, the situation in poland, in every case, you can see a lot of apologies. I can give you an example of one of polishmagazines. One of those broadcasters did not report about my visit to croatia, the present of president of whole and croatia, which was preparing the summit because this broadcaster does not like me. I am permanently criticized by that broadcaster. This is the reality, the right of the media. In poland, we have liberty and freedom of the media. Problems were there during previous governments. When the former president was in office, one ofthe magazines was visited by a special services in order to take away recordings which were compromising the politicians of the previous ruling party. That was when the freedom was under threat. We now have absolute freedom of the media. We take care of the interests of the republic of poland and the polish people. The first question from the polish side, the first from polish television. One question, please. I represent polish television, concerning energy, both of you mentioned Energy Sector and the deliveries of lng. President trump, what time perspective do you think permanent contract could be entered into to make sure lng has delivery to poland. And for poland could poland be a hub for the transportation of american gas . Pres. Trump i think we can enter a contract with lng within the next 15 minutes, the you have anybody available to negotiate . [laughter] pres. Trump we are becoming a great exporter of energy. Wehave taken a lot of unnecessary regulations out of our process and we are doing things we have not been able to do for a long time. We are blessed with great land. We did not know it 15 years ago in terms of what was underneath our feet. We have found out through technology that we are truly blessed to have this incredible wealth under our feet. We will be a next order of energy, it is already happening. Anytime you are ready, we can do additional contracts, we have done one but can do many. Thank you. Ladies and gentlemen, i can give you the following answer, not the president of United States and the president of poland who will sign the longterm contracts for lng deliveries topoland. But the countries will be decided by polish companies and an American Company and this is how it will be preceded. The most important thing is that there was a green light given by the u. S. Government and an incentive given by americans to buy gas from the United States. On the polish side, there is the green light from polish authorities and interest in this thing. I found that after round of the negotiations, those negotiations are ongoing, after the conclusion of the negotiations, there will be a longterm contract for u. S. Lng deliveries to our terminals. Answering the second part of your question, can we be a hub through which gas american gas will flow into Central Europe . I am convinced the answer is yes. Today, we will talk about this. Also, under the framework of the three Cs Initiative, this connected with the establishment of an energy corridorof gas along the northsouth exit. In the future, this couldmake sure alternative supplies for ukraine. This is of primary importance and what we discussed today with mr. President trump. I am convinced the future is rosy and a bright, and the contracts will be entered into. According to the needs, we will develop the capacities in regards to the reception of the lng gas from the u. S. And other directions. The media is free in poland and a question from a private broadcaster. You mentioned military cooperation, i would like to find out from both of you, during your exchange, where there concrete guarantees extended concerning the presence of american troops in poland as long as there is a threat from the russian side . How do you see the future of the presence of american troops in poland . Pres. Trump we did not discuss guarantees, and were desk we were not in a position to discuss guarantees but we have been in this country for a long time and have up to 5000 troops here. We will continue to do that and continue to work with poland, but we did not discuss guarantees. With mr. President , the topic we discussed first and foremost was the security situation we have here. In the context of what is happening in our part of europe and the maneuvers which we have mentioned. From that point of view, there is no doubt that the presence of american troops and nato troops in polandtoday is justified. If we assess the situation in the ukraine, it is clear. But we will discuss it further with mr. President. We made an initial agreement to meet next year in the white house. We agreed that i will pay a visit to the United States next year anddetails will be worked out. It is important for us and the polish americans because next year we will celebrate the centennial of independence Poland IndependencePoland Independence. It shows the contribution of the polish people to the welfare of the United States in the last 100 years. Perhaps the president will select the next journalist asking the question. A twopart question if i may. Will you definitively say that russia interfered in the 2016 the legends that elections . Pres. Trump it was russia and it could have been other people in other countries, a lot of people could have interfered. I think it could very well have been russia but it well could have been other countries. I will not be specific. I think a lot of people have interfered and it has been happening for a long time, for many, many years. I have to mention that barack obama, when he was president , found out about this, in terms of if it were russia. He found out about it in august. The electionwas in november. That is a lot of time and he did nothing about it. Why did he do nothing about it . He was told it was russia by the cia, as i understand, it was well reported, and he did nothing, they say he choked. I do not say he choked, i think he thought Hillary Clinton would win the election and he said, lets not do anything about it. Had he thought the other way, he wouldvedone something. He was told in early august by resume or believe the cia presumably by the cia, that russia was trying to get involved or meddling strongly with the election and he did nothing about it. The reason is that he thought Hillary Clinton was going to win. If he thought i would have one, he would have done plenty. The real question is why did he not do anything from august to november . His people said he choked but i do not think he choked. You say you think it was russia by your intelligence agencies havent for more definitive and say it was russia. Why wont you agree . Pres. Trump let me start off by saying, i heard it was 17 agencies, i said that is a lot, do we have that manyintelligence agencies . We did some very heavy research and it turned out to be three or four. Not 17. Many of your compatriots had to change the reporting and apologize and correct. With that being said, mistakes have been made. I agree, i think it was russia but i think it was probably other peopleand or countries. I see nothing wrong with that statement. Nobody really knows. I remember when i was sitting listeningabout iraq. Weapons of mass destruction. How everybody was 100 sure that iraq had weapons of mass destruction. Guess what . That led to one big mess. They were wrong and it led to a mess. It was russia, and i think was probably others also. That has been going on for a long time. My question is why didobama did nothing about it from august to november . He did nothing about it and not because he choked. [crosstalk] thank you, we must go. Thank you. President trump spoke to a crowd gathered in warsaw, the site of the the 1941 uprising against the. A relaying ceremony followed by an introduction by first lady melania trump. This is about 45 minutes. [chanting]
