I have never seen a worse policy but out in my lifetime. The job killing nature of this as well as the personal mandate and the unconstitutionality of some of the subsidies go beyond the scope of the executive branch, so lets make sure we push back on job killing policies like that. I think the real solution is an Health Savings account, in a private, patientbased free market system that can provide better and Cheaper Health Care to all the citizens of the Fifth District. So many things we are looking at Huge Companies putting people 30 hours or less. That is something that has to be in the issue. We need to totally wipe it out, and then we have to have suggestions of what to do. I think we have to take care of people with existing conditions. We have to do things that are good, but number one, we just have to take care we have the best Health Care System in the world. Why destroy the best Health Care System in the entire world . Havek at countries that this, and they have waiting lists to have surgeries. We need to be able to address these were people can go have their surgeries timely. Doctors, we need to have where we allow people to run the Health Care System the doctors to run the Health Care System. We need medicine that is cheaper and can be afforded. Thank you, mr. Holloway. The commonly held assumption is that democrats as a whole support the Affordable Care act as implemented. The solution for insuring the uninsured . If you supported, what would you do to improve the current legislation . First of all, we all should be aware of the fact that the Affordable Care and will not be peeled, especially in the next two years, because it is the law. Even if the senate is taken over by republicans, they will not have enough votes to repeal it, so we need to get that straight. Secondly, you need to understand that there are a couple good features in the a four double care act. One is the fact that preexisting illnesses will be taken care of. In addition to that, you have students on their parents policy until they are 26 until instead of 22, and that is good. Its not perfect. We all know that, but why terrapin whole thing when you have something that will afford the opportunity for citizens to have health care, which many ,residents have tried to have but this president has been able to do . Those are the type of things that our people and our country need. They need to be healthy in order to be able to became fully employed, and also to have jobs so that they can be productive citizens. You are exactly right premiums are going up in 2015, but we have done a lot in the house right now to try to dismantle parts of it such as making a parttime work week he 40 hours or less so that these companies do not have to cut employees. Problem is right now if we do not take over the senate, we are still in a battle again for the next three years trying to deal with the destruction this is wesed in this country, and have bills sitting on harry reids desk right now not able to be passed on the floor. That is the solution to this gigantic economic problem in our country. The Affordable Health care act has, in fact, hurt the middle class as much as anything that we have ever seen. Do you realize that the 40hour work week is being destroyed as a result of the Affordable Health care act . Why is that . Because under the act, a fulltime employee is some of it works at least 30 hours, so what has happened is employers are not hiring fulltime employees. They are hiring parttime employees. The ones that have, they are theyng the hours back so will not have to pay for their Health Insurance. We have other employees employers like walmart completely getting rid of Health Insurance for their parttime employees, so what we see happening with the Affordable Health care act are unintended consequences that are damaging the middle class, hurting wages, and hurting working families in this country. Finally on this much debated , your thoughts as a physician on may 4 double care act . I am a physician, and i worked with this in louisiana every day, and its a mess to the point in my practice i cannot write a prescription. I want to send my patients, i cannot get a scan on a young lady with an aneurysm in her brain. Does it need to be repealed . Absolutely. Can it be repealed . We will throw the hail mary pass, but if we cannot do it that way, we will do yard it yardage every time of the week. The solution is what is called Accountable Care organization. There is a program in place right now that has saved 30 million as of august 30, but guess what . The federal government will not add ansett because i guess it worked. The federal government will not advance it because i guess it worked. I have to dance around it every day of the week. He wants to know what you will do to better help veterans and improve the state of health care provided to veterans. What has happened at the v. A. System is just a real tragedy. To think that these men and women have made all but the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms and our country and somehow have to wait in line for their health care and in some cases even die in line waiting on our health care is just a real tragedy to our system, but we need to understand this is a clear example of the dysfunctionality of the United States government and their ineptitude at managing systems. I would hold the people responsible accountable for their mistakes. If we need to start firing people from the top down, lets do it. Your plan to help veterans improve the current state of the Veterans Administration Health Care System. I would first like to thank our veterans for their service and sacrifice. Its for that sacrifice i think they deserve better than what we are giving them. I think they deserve the same quality of health care i have access to as a private citizen. Why dont we take our tax dollars and by our veterans a private policy to increase their access to health care so they do not have to wait in line and die in waiting rooms. Your plan to improve the quality of life for our veterans. I was in congress 21 years ago. My plan then was that they should have a card to go to any hospital they needed to. My plan is the same as it was then. A veteran should be able to go to the nearest hospital and get the quickest care he can get. He should not have to wait on the v. A. Bva system is a governmentrun agency the the a system. Im not going to tell you its not a great thing, but you yet, they sit and wait, and to me, they should all be able to go to the nearest hospital and use a card. Thank you. Would do the same thing that i would do as mayor of the city of munro. I agree with the decision to fire the secretary. I would look at the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats as relates to the veterans affairs, and once we came up with that, i would come up with a plan to address those issues. Those veterans are very, very important. I have served our country and a major way, and we need to do everything we can to make sure they are taken care of. We will do that on a federal basis, state basis, as well as a local basis. Thank you. Representative mcallister, 30 seconds. I know how important this is to make sure that we take care of our veterans, and i will continue to fight, just like i have been fighting for, such as legislation i introduced because i represent the Fifth District, and it is one of the most rural areas, and i have to take care of those veterans first, so we reimburse veterans for mileage and hotel stays and things like that to get to the nearest facility. The v. A. Reform act we just passed was a step in the right direction but nowhere near as far as we need to go. We need to make sure veterans can go to any hospital anywhere, any time to get the care they need. Your plan for improving services for veterans. We need to hold accountable those in the Veterans Administration who have ailed our veterans. We need to make sure veterans are getting the care they deserve to receive and as quickly as possible. It is inexcusable they would have to wait in line months to get an appointment, and it is thatermore inexcusable there was fraud in the Health Care System where they were keeping a duplicate set of books on veterans that were waiting in line and getting seen by physicians. We need to be effective in Holding People accountable in the v. A. System. Dr. Abraham, your thoughts on the current status of Services Provided to veterans. As a veteran and physician, let me tell you what is happening to our veterans is a moral and ethical travesty and tragedy. Its an example of how many layers of government can mess up a program. The more they have, the worse it gets. I know people that have died waiting to see a specialist in the v. A. System. Give those veterans to us, the private doctors. We will take care of them and get them to their specialist when they need them. We can do it better. Baron, your plan to better assist our veteran community. It seems im the only veteran in this group who was actually a patient of the Veterans Administration healthcare system, and in fact, it is a result of the four double care act, and i could not be happier about that because its not just coverage its also care. I want to salute the men and women that work in the v. A. Every day with our veterans because they do a great job every day under trying circumstances. When you defund medical centers, weights get longer at other ones. With the loss of walter reed and other facilities around the country, it is to be expected. Support the use of marijuana for either health or Recreational Use . I do not. Marijuana leads to many, many more problems than it helps, so i am opposed to legalizing it on , state, federal, anywhere else. Your stance on the issue . It will not take 30 seconds i do not support the legalization of marijuana for health or any other reason. Should barrel on a use be legalized on a federal level perhaps or in the state of louisiana . I definitely do not believe it should be legalized on a federal level. I think that is a states rights issue. As far as recreational, i am totally opposed to legalizing it for Recreational Uses. For recreational purposes, i leave that up to the doctors. For me, i am not for legalizing it at all. I am opposed to the legalization of marijuana for recreational or medicinal purposes. Abraham, your stance. Again, as a physician, let me tell you, what i see in my for any level of marijuana use is bad. I am against recreational. I am against medical. In the medical profession in these chronic pains for Cancer Patients that need help, we have other alternatives that work other alternatives that work better, oxycontin, oxycodone, you name it. Ive had hundreds of patients unfortunately with cancer that i have treated. They do well with these drugs. Same question to you regarding marijuana legalization. I am absolutely for a states right to legalize marijuana should they see fit. On that level, it becomes a federal issue because in states like colorado and washington, their experiments in updating are being hampered by a failure on the federal level to remove marijuana from schedule one narcotics. Tois far less harmful society than alcohol and tobacco, and i recommend its use and enjoyment by anybody. Finally, republican harris brown. Absolutely not. Marijuana has been defined as a gateway drug, and it will lead to harder and worse drugs for our teenagers and some adults. Do you agree with president obamas military policy regarding isis and the middle east, and should he seek prior toonal consent military action . Let me start by saying probably the most crucial vote i ever made was to go to kuwait. I was on a plane from memphis to washington when i heard that our planes had gone in. You worry about how many people were going to be killed, so it was probably the most crucial vote yes, i think he should go to congress and get permission to go to war. I believe that isis we should kill them all. There is no doubt in my mind. What we do we just cannot allow things you cannot draw a line in the sand and when they have crossed the line, well, they crossed the line. You have to stand up. Not have one. Does do i agree with what is going on . We have to get other people on the ground. Your thoughts on the president s handling of isis and the middle east. I think that the president has done what any administrator would do, and that is to listen to his military advisors, intelligence, and get a briefing, as any administrator would do, such as i do as mayor of the city of monroe. You have to be careful as you proceed, and, of course, the airstrikes are great. The Ground Troops i think he needs to listen to his military folks, and i believe he should consult with congress and communicate with congress, but in terms of going to them to allow congress to make a decision, that is something that the president can handle. Congressman mcallister, same question should the presidency congressional consent prior to any further action against isis . I believe he should prior to any additional, but let me tell you right now i do not agree with a lot of the president s foreignpolicy, but when it comes to isil and what is going on right now, absolutely, he is doing what military leaders want. I have set in the briefings. This is what they asked for. What i do not agree with is how sequestration is brought the military down to below , butenance levels absolutely, we must annihilate to where thisit serious, barbaric threat is no longer a threat to the United States on their soil and not our soil. Do you agree with president obamas military policy regarding isis and the middle east . I think the president should have sought congressional approval before ordering airstrikes in syria and iraq. I think congress and only congress have the authority under the constitution to declare war, and i think that Congress Must have the courage to act with regard to fighting isis in the middle east. Absolutely we need to destroy this group. This is a barbaric, inhumane, and evil group of people that need to be wiped off the face of the earth, but we must have congressional approval and authorization in order to go to war. We are at war right now, whether we like it or not, but Congress Needs to act, and Congress Must vote to approve military action in the middle east. Dr. Abraham, do you agree with the president s military policy regarding isis and the middle east in general . As a veteran, he missed the boat. We had isis lined up on the iraq border like ducks in a pond in the spring, and he would not take the shot. The generals told him to. He would not do it. Higher power is a good thing, but now you have isis indebted the outskirts of baghdad. Im the troops. Give them weapons that actually work. The mayor is right theres about 40,000 isis mavis, but. Heres about 2 million kurds calculate the difference. As far as seeking congressional approval from congress, you bet. It has got to be better than any response he has had so far. Thank you. He should seek congressional action before he takes any further actions in the middle east. I am always more in favor of congressional action coming from the people and not the president. This is a barbaric and Severe Threat to our nation. I am in support of the airstrikes. I am in support of dropping the additions to the kurds, and i support putting boots on the ground if it comes to that. Thank you. I think the president should seek congressional approval. I think its important to remember that we have an organization here, isis, that the crimes they have committed are so heinous that al qaeda has kicked them out of the group. I dont think anyone wants to rest of violence, but sometimes the answer is to eradicate the enemy, and i would rather do it on their soil before they make it into our soil. There are laws relative to that that need to be followed. The borders need to be secure, and not only the president , but also senate as well is the house need to Work Together to make withthat were having ilLegal Immigration. This country will be much better if we have all parties or should i say three parties republicans, democrats, as well workingents together and not fighting one another. With solutions or proposals would you offer regarding immigration . Weone thing that we had was stayed three days longer into our recess to get the border bill passed, which is sitting again on harry reids desk, waiting for the senate to vote, but for me, i think it is producible. They would not be here if we did not want them here. We are allowing this to happen. We have laws on the books that could keep them out of here. There is a legal way to come to this country. E have Border Agents it is just an except of the. What solutions or proposals would you offer . First of all, it is a federal crime to come into our country without a visa. If you come in twice, its a felony. I think we need to enforce the law. We already have enough laws on the books right now to solve this problem of ilLegal Immigration. They just need to be enforced. The president has not enforced the law, and Congress Must hold him accountable for failing to enforce the immigration laws of this country. Im not in favor of amnesty or a pathway to citizenship because i do not think we should reward people for violating the law. Thank you. What solutions or proposals would you offer . We certainly need Legal Immigration for our workforce because we are deficient in that area. We have got to seal the borders. Do it with the national guard. We have a legals coming in from 75 different countries. Again, we are talking about laws the laws, but you have to catch them first. There are up to 2000 people in knife across our borders that we never know about. I have pilots that i fly with that actually are on the border, is so unenforced that they just walk in. What solutions are proposals would you offer . We have a couple gated relationship with latin america. I dont think it is immigration will have a problem with but those who seek to settle. I think it is also an opportunity to look at the relationship between church and state. These people are coming from countries where the Catholic Church has a large influence and abortion is illegal. Women who are making more babies than they can carry are sending the north to our border, and it has become our border our burden to carry. Thank you. Lets seal the border. Lets enforce the laws on the books and stop the flow of illegal aliens into our country. They are putting a burden on our local Law Enforcement agencies when they cross, and they are now putting a burden on the state of louisiana to the tune. F 10 million it is a burden to our Law Enforcement, a burden to our budget, and it needs to be stopped. We can no longer incentivize free travel across our border. Thank you. What solutions or proposals would you offer . One, i would seal the border. Two, we need to enforce the laws on the books. And three, i think this is something no one is talking about whats the reason for the influx of aliens across our border . Its because we subsidize a large portion of our population. We did have a serious talk about entitlement reform if were going to have a serious talk about Immigration Reform. They are coming because those jobs are available because americans will not take them because they are making more money on welfare. A serious discussion on Immigration Reform must again with a discussion about entitlements. Or proposalsons would you offer here regarding immigration . I truly believe that we have the Border Patrol people that could stop anyone from crossing our border. We can send them back. Fences. Bsolutely have im not afraid to say that one of my nieces husbands said that after 9 11, they had no problems because they thought we theygoing to kill them if cross the border. There was no work for them to do because no one was crossing the border. There is a lot they can be done, but one, we have to know every person that crosses our border. Question for candidates on education. S the federal government should the federal government provide Financial Relief to College Graduates struggling to repay loans . This is one of the problems we are facing today, the burden of what it cost to get a degree now from one of our Higher Learning institutes. We have to come up with some programs to be able to get some relief. In a rural district like we have, some tax incentives to allow those brightest minds to come to areas where we are struggling to find jobs, and i allow them to come here and contribute back to the community. I believe it is a problem that we are not aware of that is just kind of festering right now thats going to become a very big problem in the near future. Thank you. Should the federal government provide relief to College Graduates struggling to repay loans, and how can college be made more affordable . Let me just say that colleges have charged enormous tuition fees to students going to college, and one of the reasons is because of this neverending flow of money under the federal student loan program. What we have to do is get control of the federal student loan program. Tuition has just gone through the roof. One of the things we see right now that the largest growing the largest portion of debt growing in this country right now is student loan debt. Student loan debt is unbelievable, and we have to have relief for students struggling right now to repay these loans. Thank you. Dr. Abraham, your thoughts on possible relief by the federal government for College Graduates struggling to repay loans, and what proposal might you have that could make college perhaps more affordable. I have three children that have been through college, so i get it. Lower the Interest Rates on these loans to 1 or 2 . Right now, they are paying 6 to 8 , so that is an easy, Civil Solution that could happen tomorrow. Another alternative let them go to college, let them go to a trade school, let them go to any advanced school out of high school, and if they cannot afford it, have them go into Government Service for a year or two afterward to repay the government what a novel idea. It would work. Other countries do it all the time. Your opinion on whether the federal government should provide relief for College Graduates struggling to repay loans and maybe how college could be more for double. At the federal government is going to step in and bail out the auto industry, the financial industry, the insurance , thenry, as we have seen why not the individual student . We rely on education as a benchmark for many jobs, and those jobs are usually the jobs with benefits, if we are going for the private, free market solutions, so we want to encourage people to get a higher or some training. Should the federal government provide Financial Relief for graduates, and what might make college more affordable . I think we need to reform the butre student loan program, the opportunity is to allow students to refinance loans and get a better rate of interest on these loans and then when they get out of college, lets be sure they got the proper Work Environment for them to go into. Lets be sure we provide the proper incentives in these rural dentist of hours so the can get a job and work down on this 100,000 of debt he has accrued. Should the federal government be providing Financial Relief to College Graduates who are struggling to repay loans . Do you have a proposal that could possibly make college more affordable . We are to consider the fact 144 trillionabout dollars with of unfunded liabilities in this country. The thought of actually bailing someone else out is ludicrous to me. We dont have the money. We can sit up here and act like we do, but we dont. The answers to get the federal government out of the way. It seems like the more they get involved in anything, it seems like the price goes up. The answer is we need to get the federal government out of education is much as possible. Thank you. A Senior Citizen gets less on an account, so why should they be paying 7 , 8 , 9 for a student loan . I think the interest is one of the things we can do the best. I think Public Service should be i think everyone in our country should have Public Service. If you are a young person, you should serve in some type of Public Service for six months, a year, two years, whatever they set for a time. I just believe that that would create what we need in our country and make young people more responsible. Wrapping up this question, your thoughts on Student Loan Relief and how college can be made possibly more affordable. Theres no question that the federal government should provide some relief in terms of decreasing some of the Interest Rates. In fact, im aware of the fact that senator landrieu has presented a bill or is working on a bill to do such. I have had two kids that have gone through college, so not only are they having to pay back the loans, but i am having to myself ande loan my wife. It is unconscionable to think that all the money that has got to be paid back by a student. Thank you, mayor. Our eighth question of the evening posed by many of our viewers is about jobs and economy. What is one thing you might do to create new jobs in louisianas Fifth District . One of the biggest problems we have is government regulation. We have made it so difficult for Small Businesses to operate and function. The tax burden has been unbearable, and the Regulatory Burden has been incredible. Small businesses are not able to afford lawyers and accountants and all sorts of experts to help them deal with the Regulatory Burdens to have. Reducing the Regulatory Burden is one thing we can do to help Small Businesses create jobs because most jobs are created by Small Businesses. That is the backbone of our economy, and we need Small Business job relief in the Fifth District. Mr. Abraham, what is one thing you would do to create new jobs in louisianas Fifth District . The Fifth District is the largest road crop nation in the nation wrote crap district in supplyion, and we cannot enough for it because of the regulations on our businesses. Those are the job killers. Its not a matter of funding, its a matter of spending we are doing. Lower the Corporate Tax rates from 35 to 20 . Cut the income tax to a flat tax if we could, and that would solve 99 of your job problems. Thank you. What is one thing you would do to create jobs in louisiana spent district . I like to think i would be a bit of a traffic cop in directing industries and Industry Leaders looking for great places and great people to do their work.
