John kasich win ohio, rubio wins florida, ted cruz wins the states that he can. In that sense, you are part of their strategy to make that come about and have a floor fight at the convention. Gov. Kasich you have to leave it to the voters to decide what they want. I dont depend on any strategy. My wife, i get strategy from her. Not so much about politics, but thats where i get my orders from. Let me Say Something about donald trump. You will not beat him by smearing him. You will beat him by having a vision and showing people the who are frustrated. Who are they . John hannity im one. Im frustrated. Gov. Kasich im talking about the underemployed. There are so many insecurities out there, and i get it. I grew up in that town. You grew up there, right . The key is, whos got the record and the vision, and not just political gibberish like, im going to do this, im going to do that. Ive already done these things. I want to go back and do them again to get the country moving. [applause] john i want to talk about your record. Gov. Kasich you like a positive campaign instead of negative . [applause] im frustrated for two reasons. Lot of kids are doing the right thing to get their education, they go home and live in mom and dads basement because theres no jobs available. 50 million americans in poverty. Here is why im even more frustrated. Republicans in washington. Im not talking about republican governors. I know your record in ohio. Republicans in washington have been weak and ineffective. They have sought to keep their own power. They would not use the power of the purse to stop obamacare. They wouldnt defund executive amnesty. Are you all frustrated about that like i am . Thats part of the frustration. I think people want to hear from you about why people feel as angry as they do. Gov. Kasich they keep electing people and theyre not getting whats promised. I have to be careful to not make big promises i cant keep. Heres what i believe. The reason why we have a poor economy is we over regulate, we are choking small business, we are raising taxes, and we are blowing up the budget. What do you do to fix it . Commonsense regulations with an eye on rewarding Small Businesses. Secondly, cut the taxes for businesses. Cut individual rates. Make it simpler, like reagan did. And have a path to a balanced budget. When special interests come yelling and screaming, say we are going to get this budget moving. If we dont do these three things and work on workforce, we will fall short. Heres what the congress needs. It needs a dose of leadership from the white house. Paul ryan will be a good one. He was an aide when i was budged committee chairman. I cant wait to get there. If you dont have a seat belt in the first 100 days, i will give a plan to freeze federal regulations, reduce taxes on businesses and individuals, we are going to fix Social Security, we are going to fix the border, we are going to have immigration taken care of, we are going to restore relations with our allies. Thats what were going to do. That is the first 100 days. Buy a seatbelt. [applause] gov. Kasich we need shock and awe. We need to say to congress, this is where we are going. When i talk about working with democrats, i work with the blue dogs. They are more conservative than a bunch of republicans. They dont exist. Gov. Kasich any of those blue dog types that want to come and bring a conservative side to support us to fix these problems, they are welcome. But theyre not going to call the tune. John hannity we had 15 contests. Walk the people in the audience through your path you see that will get us the nomination to 1237 delegates. Gov. Kasich i dont think anybodys going to get that. Im going to win ohio. Let me put you in my shoes. Nobody covered me. No one knew who i was. I had to fight for every second. I have not raised a lot of money. Im not doing a lot better. Cannot get any attention. They thought, he will never get on the stage for a debate. Then they said, hell never make it to new hampshire. Then they said he would not survive super tuesday. Im the last governor standing, theres only 4 of us and we are the little engine that can. Believe in us. [applause] gov. Kasich and now finally, finally, finally the country is beginning to get a little bit of who i am. I will take this every day as compared to one of those debates. This is the way we ought to run it. Coming out and talk to people. [applause] mr. Hannity do you think it is going to be a brokered convention . Gov. Kasich i do. Mr. Hannity lets say you get to the convention and candidate a does not get there, and candidate b is significantly behind. With a brokered convention, do you think candidate a supporters will be angry if another candidate gets the nomination . I think they will be angry. Gov. Kasich it has to be done fairly. I was there as a young man in 1976 when reagan tried to derail jerry ford. As crazy as this year is, and there is nobody who would not say this is nuts, can you think anything cooler that a convention when we learn how America Works and our kids will learn more about american politics than they are from the kardashians . Not that i have anything against the kardashians. You have to do it right. You cannot have a bunch of people in the smokefilled rooms, who are the establishment, and you and i have never been the establishment, ok . My only fear of the convention is that these connected interests would dominate, and we are going to have to prevent that. Mr. Hannity you think your only path to the nomination mr. Kasich i have to win ohio. I have to win 68 of the remaining delegates. Ted is around 59 or 60. It is unlikely. If nobody goes to the convention with enough delegates, we are going to have to meet they told me that convention will be held in cleveland. That is interesting. [applause] mr. Hannity what about your background . That is truth to what you say about a lot of people do not know you, and maybe i am showing my age, but i remember you and bill clinton was president and Newt Gingrich became the speaker of the house, and you guys took on a sitting president , you did get to a balanced budget, you did get to a surplus, but now we have 20 trillion in debt, and the numbers are much bigger. How do you duplicate that . Gov. Kasich of course. Let me remind you of something that is sad. When i left washington, we had a projected 5 trillion surplus. I said you cant spend that. We could have had private accounts for young, which would have given them to grow with the ability of the strength of the economy. Who controlled congress . A republican house, a republican senate, and a republican president. No one remembered the people. They blew 5 trillion. We have to think about this. We have to think about this. At the end of the day, if we cannot control this fiscal policy, if we cannot reduce the taxes or control regulations, we will drift and we will have a lousy economy, and these young people who want to realize their purpose will be denied it. What politicians worry about to much is being popular. If that is your goal and you worry about the next election, get out, go away, do something else. You are there to raise everybody and make hard choices. This is not rhetoric. Check my record. A lot of people run away from their record. Please go check my record and you will see it is true. If we stand together, we will have victory in this country. Mr. Hannity Chris Christie said there is no way to balance the budget without dealing with entitlements. Gov. Kasich correct. Mr. Hannity he said to me, he goes, politicians are already stealing your Social Security. It was never put in a lockbox. Do you raise the eligibility age to one day before i die . Does that mean you will meanstest it and the government gets to confiscate all the money that you said they would give you back in later in your life . Is that the only way to do it . Gov. Kasich there is no third rail. If you think there is a third rail, do not run. You go in there to do something, and can we fix Social Security . Yes. It will mean you if you are wealthy throughout your life, you will still get Social Security, but not as much. Those who depend on it, will get. Mr. Hannity and you legalize the government will be stealing money from some people . Gov. Kasich i had a plan 17 years ago that would have fixed this plan for 75 years and they did not deal with it. And i do not want to get the details, but there are ious. The problem is we have a lot of retirees living longer, and fewer workers. This is a demographic issue. Lets be as fair as we can. Medicare and medicaid, i believe we can have a system that gives us better quality care at lower prices. I took medicaid in ohio from a 10. 5 to 2. 5 growth, and we did not take one person off the rolls. We innovated. Everything in america, give me that smartphone here, ok . When my kids were about 10 or 11, they said, what is that box over there . That is where superman changes his clothes and mom and dad used to put coins in that thing. They went no way. Lets uberize the federal government. Lets bring the speed of business in everything we do. Lets have some guts. To give you a good example, uber doing a great job . We all like uber. You realize in cities that politicians are lining up to snuff it out . We need to welcome innovation and change. It makes us fresh and new. [applause] mr. Hannity i want to talk about homeland security. We have people chopping off peoples heads, burning them alive. They are saying convert or die, and it raises questions about the safety and security of every american. Isis is the modernday evil in our time. Is this an ongoing war and we have the ability to work without boots on the ground . Gov. Kasich no. Just like we did to push Saddam Hussein out of kuwait. You get the arabs and egypt and jordan and saudi arabia, and bring our western allies, who are sitting there. We got to go in the air, on the ground, and destroy isis. Mr. Hannity were going in back on the ground . Gov. Kasich win it, destroy them, settle it, and come home. Let them draw their map. Mr. Hannity why are they not doing it on their own . Gov. Kasich because they wont. It just will grow in deeper. The fbi heads the Counterterrorism Task force along with homeland security, state, and local officials, and that is good. They do a great job of disrupting. For everybody, if you see something, call somebody, please. We got this big fight going on between apple and our intelligence community. If i were president , i would take apple and the intelligence community, lock them in the room, and say you are not coming out until you figure it out, and when you will not talk to the press, and we will not put on the front page of the paper, we will just make sure we are secure. That is what a leader does. I might put hannity in the room there with them. Mr. Hannity what i would like to see, we all watched ramadi, and it is now in the hands of isis, because just like vietnam, once we politicize a war the way this president has, our sons and daughters died there, and i worry that i think we have got to advance and develop a technology where we do not have to send men and women over to fight and win wars. Are we on the verge of cuttingedge technology that will allow us to fight wars without going door to door to door and dealing with gov. Kasich youre right about that, because technology can play a good role, but theres not going to be a substitute for people at least in our lifetime having to be on the battlefield. I served in defense for 18 years, and rumsfeld called me in after 9 11, and i helped out there. I have to tell you the reality of it, and i think people are prepared for this because we looked the other way. No negotiation with isis. They hate our existence. The key is to not be a nation builder and do not think you can convert these people to our way of life. It is not going to happen. Mr. Hannity are we fighting wars too politically correct . Them,uz said carpet bomb donald trump wants to bomb the living out of them. If america is too concerned we care about human life, we are pro life, but are we overly concerned about Collateral Damage to the point where we have tied our hands . Gov. Kasich you do not fool around with it, and unfortunately, you cannot win this from the air. [applause] gov. Kasich you have to take ground. It is the way has to be. Mr. Hannity we got to wrap up. Gov. Kasich the United States should never get involved in a civil war. We also really fouled up in libya. When you think about hillarys time as secretary, the whole world the whole world started doubting america. Now she wants to be that commander in chief. Give me a break. It is an absurd consideration. Mr. Hannity do you think she will survive what is going on with the fbi and all the news states evidence was just turned in, that the guy who built the server was offered the fifth. Do you think she is in legal trouble . Gov. Kasich i would not like to be in her position. Mr. Hannity i would not want to be married to bill either. Governor kasich, there are some really hot chicks over there. That is my bill clinton immitation. Gov. Kasich i just wondered if hannity had lost his mind. I know your wife. I will have to give her a call, if she just gets part of this. Mr. Hannity you have done a good job when you were on house budget committee. What was your deficit when you took over in ohio . Gov. Kasich 20 in the whole of our operating budget. A deficit of 8 billion. We created over 400,000 jobs, cut taxes more than anybody in the country. And we killed the death tax. We are working on killing death. We still have not made a lot of progress. [applause] mr. Hannity republican governors have governed conservatively. If Washington Republicans could learn something, it would be good for our country and help these kids that we care about. Give it up for governor john kasich. [applause] we will route to the white house coverage of the John Kasich Campaign on sunday when the candidate holds a rally in his home state of ohio. He will be joined by former california governor arnold schwarzenegger. Watch our live coverage here on cspan. Republican president ial candidate ted cruz appeared at the second day of the conservative legal action conference, being held just outside of washington dc. He talked about immigration policy, and the fight against isis. He is interviewed by sean hannity of fox news. This is 40 minutes. [applause] sen. Cruz god bless cpac. Donald trump is skipping cpac. I think someone told him megyn kelly was going to be here. [laughter] sen. Cruz or even worse, he was told conservatives would be here. [applause] sen. Cruz or libertarians. Or worse, young people. [applause] none of you have a university. Trump the men and women here are a grassroots army. The men and women here love liberty. As dire as things are, people are waking up all over this country. [applause] sen. Cruz and help is on the way. This election is going to be about three things. Jobs, liberty, and security. Lets start with jobs. You know, it is easy to talk about making America Great again. You can even print that on a baseball cap. But the question is, do you understand the principles that made America Great in the first place . [applause] sen. Cruz the heart of the economy is not washington dc, it is Small Businesses all over this country. [applause] sen. Cruz you wanted to crush the economy, hammer Small Businesses like we have done the last seven years. Anyone to unchaining the economy, lift the government off the back of the neck of Small Businesses. [applause] sen. Cruz if i am elected president you will be. [applause] sen. Cruz we will repeal every word obamacare. [applause] sen. Cruz we will pass Commonsense Health care reform to make Health Insurance personal and affordable and keep government from getting it between us and our doctors. And we will pass a simple flat tax. Where every american can fill out their taxes on a postcard. And when we do that, we should abolish the irs. [applause] sen. Cruz now i understand a lot of people in this country are angry. I get being angry. I am angry too. For far too long they have lied to us. They make promises on the trail, and the go to washington and dont do what they say. No issue captures that better than immigration. Immigration is a Law Enforcement matter, but at its heart is an economic matter. When you allow 12 Million People illegally, you take away millions of jobs from u. S. Citizens from illegal immigrants, and you drive down wages for everybody. [applause] sen. Cruz now, in a republican primary everybody says they oppose illegal immigration. The question to ask, was in 2013, when the battle over the gang of eight amnesty bill was being waged, where did you stand . Did you stand as far too many, with barack obama, the democrats pushing amnesty on millions of americans . Or did you stand him as i was out to stand with millions of americans saying we will not have amnesty . [applause] sen. Cruz and you know, i am told that it donald trump talks a fair amount about immigration. There is a natural question to ask. During the gang of eight battle, where was donald . Sadly worse than nowhere. He was funding the gang of eight. He gave over 50,000 to five of the eight members of the gang of eight. And last night, on stage for he promised all of us to be flexible. He said that over and over how flexible he was. Flexible is code word for the gets ready to stick it to you. [applause] sen. Cruz have you noticed every time there flexible, it benefits the giant corporations, benefits wall street from benefits the special interests, and working men and women of this country get left in the cold . [applause] sen. Cruz here is what were going to do. If i am elected, we are passing a flat tax, we are pulling back the federal regulators can we are stopping amnesty. We are securing the borders. Millions and millions of highpaying jobs, young people coming out of school, getting two, three, four, five job offers. It will be morning in america. [applause] sen. Cruz the second critical issue in this election is freedom. For all of us, Justice Scalias passing just two weeks ago underscored the stakes of this election. I was blessed to know Justice Scalia personally for 20 years. Justice scalia was a lion of the law, and he ferociously protected the bill of rights for all of us. [applause] sen. Cruz his passing underscores that this election is not about one branch of government, it is about two. We are one liberal justice away from the Supreme Court ruling that government can take our religious liberty away force everyone of us to violate our faith on penalty of prison. We are one liberal justice away from the Supreme Court ordering 10 commandments monuments torn down all over this country. We are one liberal justice away from the Supreme Court erasing the Second Amendment from the bill of rights. We are one liberal justice away from the Supreme Court ordering veterans memorials torn down if they have any religious symbols torn down all over this country. We are one justice away from the Supreme Court making us subject to the world court and United Nations and International Law and giving away u. S. Sovereignty. In the debate last week, there was a moment of clarity on this issue. There was a question about religious liberty and the Supreme Court. Donald trump turned to me and said, ted, ive known a lot more politicians in my life than you have. Now, in that he is surely correct. He has been supporting liberal, democratic politicians for four decades. But he said, ted, when it comes to the Supreme Court, you got to be prepared to compromise. You got to be willing to cut a deal with the democrats. Let me be very clear to every man and woman here at cpac. I will not compromise away your religious liberty. [cheering] [applause] i will not compromise away your Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. [applause] because if any president does what donald is promising to do, cut a deal with harry reid and Chuck Schumer to agree on Justice Scalias replacement, then we know that replacement will be a left wing judicial activist who will strip away our rights. I give you my solemn commitment that every justice i put on the Supreme Court will be a principled constitutionalist, faithful to the law, who will vigorously protect the bill of rights for each and every one of us. [applause] the third key issue, this election is about security. For seven years america has abandoned our friends and allies and has shown weakness and appeasement to our enemies. The world is much more dangerous because of it. Once again, in the debate last week there was a moment of clarity in this choice. Donald trump told us he will be neutral between israel and the palestinians. Let me be very clear. As president i have no intention of being neutral. America will stand unapologetically with the nation of israel. [applause] and if you cannot tell the difference between terrorists who walk into shopping malls with dynamite strapped around their chests to blow up women and children and the soldiers protecting innocence, if you buy into the media and the left wings narrative of moral equivalency, then that draws into question the judgment any individual would have as commander in chief. Over the last seven years weve seen the United States military weakened. Weve seen our readiness degraded. Weve seen morale plummet. Now, america has seen this happen before. Weve seen a left wing democratic president weaken the military as jimmy carter did and in 1981 Ronald Reagan came into the white house. What did reagan do . He cut taxes. He passed regulatory reform. The economy took off. Millions of Small Businesses grew. Trillions of dollars of government revenue. He used that revenue to rebuild the military and we bankrupted the soviet union and won the cold war. We are going to unleash economic growth. No longer will the military be governed by political correctness. It be a topll priority of the pentagon to provide. We will have a commanderinchief who says to defeat radicalll islamic terrorists. President willing to utter the words radical islamic terrorists. That is wrong. End. Ll america has always been reluctant to use military force. If it is required, we use overwhelming force, kill the enemy, and then get the heck out. It is the men and women gathered that will lead that fight. It took jimmy carter to give us Ronald Reagan. Of longlasting legacy will be a new generation of leaders in the Republican Party who fight for liberty. This is packed as its been since weve been here. Did you enjoy the debate last night . Its good to see you. I want to talk about where we are with the campaign. Delegateecond in the count. Mitt romney gave a speech yesterday. Concerned about what donald trump would be. I come from different place than mitt romney does. If you look at republicans trump the country, donald is not the best candidate to go headtohead with Hillary Clinton. Nominee, hillary wins and we lose the Supreme Court for the generation. I will say if youre one of 70 that recognize he is not the best candidate to win, what is critical is we come together. I think it was a clarifying moment. It made clear that only one campaign has repeatedly beaten donald trump. Only one campaign can and will be donald trump. Do you not see the of the 14 contest that have happened, the establishment has lost 14 of 15. Is only question i have there seems to be an effort to push this to the convention. The establishment is angry that you were winning. Anytime youre somebody talk about a brokered convention, it is the washington establishment in a frenzy. Candidates, chosen the voters keep rejecting. They seized on this master plan. In thatl drop someone is to their liking. Happen, we will have a revolt on our hands all across this country. Beat donaldto trump, you beat him with the voters. The key to that we started off with 17 candidates. There were a lot of good people in that race. The field has narrowed. Beaten donald. S i think that plan is real. I think they are paying all of this money to do it. I think the voters have something to say about that. Buy your votes. They cant decide for you. That is right here in if you start off with another candidate , maybe you were originally with rand paul. Maybe you were with jeb bush or Chris Christie or mike huckabee. All of them are honorable people. Every one of them are honorable people. Beevery name i listed would serving in a cabinet and part of leadership. Let me speak to the supporters. I dont think they have a path to beat donald trump. Come join us. Building a coalition. I want to get to your legal background. His boots on. Got clinton is turning states evidence. Do you believe a grand jury should be convened . It is an Ominous Development when paulie flips and goes to the feds, it aint good for fat tony. Immunity has been granted to the person. He cant plead the fifth anymore. What did sheng know and when did she know it. I will say this. A generalver had Election Debate convened at leavenworth. This year might be the first. I hope she likes orange pantsuits. I can say it. I can do anything i want. Heres a question. Want to tell you how youre going to deal with this. How do deal with the lines that are coming . There is a psychological term. Through each of those. The Democratic Party is unwilling to say. When did him controversial to say every human being is a precious gift from god . In 1990, there were 2200 homicides in new york city, last year there were 300. They were prevented by the nypd. All lives matter. Blue lives matter. We stand with the men and women who protect us. Mr. Hannity so you make the case . Mr. Cruz you take the case to them. I cannot wait to stand on that general Election Debate stage with Hillary Clinton. She will inevitably stand up, and like obama, prattle on about economic inequality. I will say to her, it has increased under your policies. I will say a sentence that i suspect has never been said before at cpac. I am not donald trump, so it will not be xrated. I agree with Bernie Sanders. Bernie sanders talks all the time about mr. Hannity the liberal media is back there. That will be the quote of the day. Mr. Cruz Bernie Sanders talks about the corruption in washington, how career politicians get in bed with the corporations, lobbyists, and special interests, and how the game is rigged. Bernie is right. When he is defining the problem, he is fundamentally correct. If the government is fundamentally corrupt, then the answer aint lets have more government. Mr. Hannity one of the reasons i love coming back to cpac every year, there is so many young people here. They are our future. I am not trying to be repetitive. I have asked you this before, but this is how profound and deep the problems are right now. We got kids that graduate school, they go to live with mom and dad. Millions are out of the labor force. 50 million americans in poverty, millions more than when obama became president. We now have doubled the National Debt. We have 120 trillion in unfunded liability. For all these young people who want a ladder up, how fast can you help them . Mr. Cruz we can turn things around overnight. Young people are told this is as good as it gets. Accept coming out of school drowning in Student Loans with no hope for a good job. History teaches that is an utter lie. We tell you how as conservatives we get young people. Both substance and style. If you sat down and tried to hound the living daylights out of young people, it would be hard to do that more than the obama economic agenda. Obamacare is a massive wealth transfer from Healthy People to everybody else. 18 trillion in National Debt who do you think is going to pay for that . We got to make the case. It is like for young people, your parents went to vegas, took out a credit card in your name, partied it up, and stuck you with the bill. We got to speak the truth that this agenda is hammering young people. If republicans are a bunch of old fuddyduddies with yeah. Mr. Hannity going back to last nights debate about body parts. I am kidding. Mr. Cruz would it kill republicans to crack a joke . Mr. Hannity i make fun of bill clinton all the time. Mr. Cruz we put out a meme break it up. You start a business in your parents garage. Obamanomics you move into your parents garage. The week before i arrived in california, posters began to appear. They were posters of my head on a shirtless body. It was ripped, covered in tattoos, a giant eagle on my chest, two six shooters on my abs, Winston Churchill on my right bicep, a cigarette dangling out of my mouth, and above it, blacklisted and loving it. We had nothing to do with this. This was a local artist that decided to have some fun. We said for whatever reason, these posters have begun appearing all over hollywood. I have to say i noticed a glaring error. I do not smoke cigarettes. And people laughed, they had fun, and an interesting thing the media has not reported many of the states do not do the exit polls, but those that did, our campaign won young people in the state of iowa. We won young people in the state of south carolina. We won young people in oklahoma, arkansas, and in the great state of texas. Mr. Hannity my last question, there might be something you and donald trump can put together. Mr. Cruz i am terrified. Mr. Hannity it might work out. Isis is evil. Everybody in this audience understands the evil we face. We have got to stop this evil in its tracks. You have stated you think we should carpet bomb the islamic state, which is islamic, president obama and trump said we should bomb the living out of them. I think it is a perfect plan, is that ok . It was funnier when i did it backstage. Mr. Cruz isis every militant on the face of the planet should go and join isis. If they wage jihad against the United States, they got to understand they are signing their death warrant. It is interesting, a lot of people in the media characterize strength against our enemies as somehow being a warmonger. I think it is exactly the opposite. I believe like Ronald Reagan , peace through strength. I think the weakness of barack obama, in spite of military conflict, it encourages our enemy. Let me point out that the nation of iran in 1981 released our hostages the day Ronald Reagan was sworn into office. That is the difference a strong commander in chief can make, because the Ayatollah Khomeini realized that Ronald Reagan was not bluffing. I do not bluff either. When your enemies understand that, more often than not you do not need to use military power. The Biggest Country Ronald Reagan invaded in eight years was grenada. That is what happened when america is strong and your enemies understand it, and we can have that again. That is who we are. I want to finally thank everyone here. I ask you to stand with us. This is a grassroots army. The washington, d. C. Establishment is terrified of everyone gathered here. If we come together, if we unite, we will win this primary, we will defeat Hillary Clinton in november. And we will turn this country around, and i have spent my entire life fighting to defend the constitution and bill of rights, and i give you my solemn promise that when i take that oath, to preserve, protect and defend the constitution, that i will faithfully execute that oath every single day in office. Mr. Hannity cpac, give it up for senator ted cruz. [captions Copyright National cable satellite corp. 2016] [captioning performed by the national captioning institute, which is responsible for its caption content and accuracy. Visit ncicap. Org] mr. Carson thank you. Ben carson suspended his campaign. Is about an hour. Mr. Carson thank you. Thank you so much. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you very much. Thank you. Thank you. I am absolutely delighted to be here. My wife and my sons and their wives are there. Thank you. I want to thank you. I want to thank all the people who have worked so incredibly hard on my campaign, the volunteers. One young man who lost his life for something he believed with in such fervor. It is an experience i will never forget. Interestingly enough, people said in order to make it in this cycle, you have to be loud and boisterous and you have to be willing to attack people. I used to be like that. There was a time when i was, particularly in Junior High School and high school i could come up with some stuff that would really embarrass people. And the people who are running today, i could come up with some stuff, let me tell you. You know what i left that stuff in high school. The things that affect us now are so incredibly important. And one of the things that is going on in our nation i have noticed as i have traveled around, wonderful americans, every place, every part of our country, but so many of them are angry and are afraid. And the problem when you are angry and afraid is you tend to make bad decisions when you are angry and you are afraid. And what we have to do now is just sort of calm down and use the amazing intellect that god has given us, the human brain, billions and billions of neurons, hundreds of billions of interconnections. It remembers everything you have ever seen or heard. It can process over 2 million bits of information in one second. There is a reason he gave a Something Like that so that we can extract information from the past in the present and process it and project it into the future and think rationally and logically instead of reacting. You do not need to have much of a developed brain to simply react. Anoles, lizards can do that. We are human beings, so we need to start to think in america what we need is leadership. [applause] mr. Carson and many people have said, who are you going to endorse . Well, let me tell you exactly, let me tell you exactly the criteria that one should use when utilizing that brain. If we are talking about somebody who is going to lead america and the world, you need somebody who has demonstrated significant accomplishment in their life, number one. You also need somebody whose ideas and policies are clear and easy to find so that with your intellect you can evaluate them. You need to look at how they treat others and how they treat their family, because that is how they are going to treat the American People. We need to see what have they done for america. Someone who wants to lead this nation should have in fact demonstrated in their life that they are trying to improve life for people in america. And we should also look at the people that they work with, who are those people, what do those people have to say, and how have they been able to collaborate with other people to get things done. All of those are very important factors. Somebody who can check a box on all of those is going to make an incredible leader. Also, somebody who is ethical, because what we need in america right now is tripledown ethics. Very important that we get that. [applause] mr. Carson and conservatives should not be ashamed of capitalism. We have had those who have tried to make it sound like a bad word. It is not a bad word. It has produced the highest standard of living that anybody has ever known. But what we must do as conservatives is to make sure that we couple capitalism with compassion, and that will be a winning formula for us. Recognize that in this country we have 330 Million People. And it sounds like a lot of people, but compare that with china, 1. 4 billion, india, 1. 1 billion. It means we need to develop all of our people. We cannot afford to have 20 plus not graduating from high school in the technological age. We cannot afford to have 5 of the worlds population and 25 of the inmates, and we do need to have a government with policies that pulls Families Together because you need a family unit to strengthen america. Our pillars of strength, our faith, and our family, and as those things are being eroded, you see what is happening to our nation. We the people have to be the ones who really push these things. The government is not pushing it. The government they do not understand what compassion is. They think having somebody pat you on the head and saying, you poor little thing, i am going to take care of your needs is compassion. That is just the opposite of compassion. That is making people dependent on the system. That is the worst thing you can do to anybody. So what we must concentrate on is the past, the bridge that allows people to move out of the state of dependency and become part of the strength and fabric of this country. That is how we become strong as a nation. The fewer people we have to pull along and the more people who become part of the productive side of america, the better life will be for everybody. That is what we have to keep in mind. We also must recognize that we, the American People, are not each others enemies. I think it is a nefarious group of individuals who are making every attempt to divide us as americans. And what we must begin to concentrate on is having conversations with each other and talking through our differences and finding resolution. There is a reason we have these amazing brains. If we are fighting each other all the time, then it makes it excessively easy for those who really are our enemies, the radical islamist terrorists who want to destroy us. We need to understand that. And why would we make their job easier for them by trying to destroy ourselves . And we need to identify those people in our society who are always trying to splinter us, because they are not our friends either. They also need to be thinking about our future generations, and this is an area that has concerned me immensely. Thomas jefferson said it is immoral to borrow from the next generation. Think about that. Here we are in a situation 19 trillion . And it is going to be 20 trillion next year . Think about the impact of that. The fed has to suppress the interest rates. They do not necessarily want income to rise either because we are in such a difficult economic situation. But think what happens to the american dream, when joe the butcher cannot go every friday like he used to do the bank and put 5 , 10 of his check in the savings account and watch it grow, because there is no growth, there is no incentive to do that. Same thing with the bond markets. Only place money can be made is the stock market . Who invests in the stock market . Welltodo people. And hence, the income gap grows. Along come sanders and clinton talking about income gap. It is the government that keeps driving the debt up. That is causing the problem. And we must be able to identify where the true culprits lie. The government keeps growing because it feels it is the one who can solve our problems. That is a mistake. It started like in the 1920s with the wilson administration, kept multiplying by the time we got to the johnson administration. We are talking, we the government are going to eliminate poverty. Remember that . The war on poverty. How did that work out . 19 trillion later, we have 10 times more people on food stamps, more poverty, broken homes, everything is not only worse, it is much worse. And that is what happens when the government starts doing things that it is not supposed to do. They need to read the constitution. That is not their job. Taking care of the indigent, that is our job. That is our job, we the people, not the government. And maybe the government did read it, they got confused when they read the preamble where it says one of their jobs is to promote the general welfare. They thought that means put everybody on general welfare. That is not what it means. That is what happens when you have a government that is way too big. And i am hopeful that maybe some people, now that i am leaving the campaign trail yeah. I know this i know there is a lot thank you. Thank you very much. Thank you. [applause] but but but even though i might be leaving the campaign trail there is a lot of people who love me, they just want vote for me but its ok. Its not a problem. [laughter] i will still continue to be heavily involved in trying to save our nation. [applause] we have to say that. We have to save it. I will be involved in a lot of Different Things including my faith of votes which is an organization that will try to help the Faith Community to recognize how important their vote is. In 2012, 25 million evangelicals did not vote. The margin of difference was only 5 million. It gives you some idea of how important that is. We have to get these people registered and we have to get them to understand that they have to play a role. A lot of people in the Faith Community, they say god has it under control so i dont need to do anything. One of the ways that god controls it is through us. We have to do stuff. [applause] this brings me to the whole topic of our faith as a nation. We are in the process of allowing the secular progressives to drive faith out of our country. You look at one of their heroes, sol alinsky, who was also at hero of Hillary Clintons and he was a Community Organizer like barack obama. And he wrote a famous book, as you know, called rules for radicals. To give you some idea of who these people are, on the dedication page, it says this book is dedicated to lucifer, the original radical who gained his own kingdom. When we talk about throwing god out and then substituting something that is radically different, you can imagine what the effects of that are going to be on our nation. Were the only ones who can change that. I know that [applause] i know that president obama said we are not a judeochristian nation but he does not get to decide, we get to decide what kind of nation we are. [applause] it is so important it is so important that the people with common sense, that includes, you know, conservative people, it includes even some democrats, there are some. [laughter] it includes the people who understand that right now this is a most important election because we are deciding, do we want to allow the government to get date our rights to dictate our rights. They take care of all of our necessities or do we want to have a nation where individuals have choice and where we take the responsibility for our needs in an atmosphere of a quality of opportunity . Isnt that what its about . Not a quality of everything except for opportunity, we give opportunity to everybody in america. [applause] and the bottom line is, we the people, we are the ones who will be making the decisions but in order to do that, we must become active. We must become informed. We cannot continue to allow ourselves to be influenced and molded by the Political Class and by the media. That is going to destroy us. [applause] its kind of sad. Its kind of sad because the press is the only business that is specifically protected by our constitution and the reason is because they were supposed to be the allies of the people. They were not supposed to take sides and do what they have done. [applause] i use this as an opportunity to appeal to the press, and particularly to the younger members of the press, not to allow yourselves to be captured by those who are attempting to impose an agenda upon america. Remember, that you, too, are a part of us. If the whole country goes over the cliff, you are going over with it. So join us in being fair to everybody and open, once again, in america. [applause] i just want to close by saying, right now it is so important that everyone of us use all the talent that we have, everything that we have. This is not about any individual person. This is about us collectively as a nation. And i guarantee you that candy and i and our whole family loved this nation and could i sit down right now and enjoy the rest of my life in complete luxury . Absolutely, but i cannot do that knowing the next generation is in trouble and we will do everything we can to preserve the greatness of america. [applause] [cheers and applause] thank you. And now, please welcome Fox News Contributor mercedes schlop for the q a. [applause] hello, everyone, dr. Carson, wonderful to be here. I get a text from my 12yearold daughter who says, mom, carson just dropped out of the race, you need to change some of the question so we will get rid of these. But ive got a backup. Its really an honor to be here with you, sir. We will start with, i heard in your campaign that they would say god opens a door and sometimes, you choose to go through it and follow through and now, god seems to have opened a different door for you. Yes, there was no question that he had to open a door because being a person with no political ties whatsoever, no pac, nothing, the pundits were probably right. They said there is no way you can run a National Campaign for president. It cannot happen and its never happened and its not going to happen now. I said lord, you heard what they said. If you want me to do this, you have to open a door. If you open a door, i will walk through it and he opened a door so i walked through it or it it was as simple as that. [applause] god has a much greater perspective than we do and a much different timeline and we do. He knows exactly what he is doing so all we do is follow his will. We continued to be truthful and do everything that is right and he will take care of the rest. [applause] dr. Carson, you have spent so much energy and time on the campaign trail. How do you see the moment where you and candy and the kids decided we need to suspend this campaign . You know, i have always kind of thought that people at some point would just say, enough of this foolishness, we will look at these policies and we will see what works. We have not gotten there quite yet. But we are gradually moving in that direction. I did the math. I looked at the delegate count. I look at the states and the look of the requirements and i realized that it simply was not going to happen. If thats the case, than i did not want to interfere with the process. [applause] now last night, there was this event, i think it was called a debate. There were thousands of people in this room. Were you watching netflix or the debate . You would have thought it was netflix. [laughter] [applause] it is kind of funny but its very said that we have reached that point. The last debate when i went out into the room, the most common question i got in the press was arent you embarrassed . Part of that i blame the media for because they are trying to stir up a fight. [applause] they are not really interested in the answers, they are not interested in the solutions, they are interested in ratings. Also, i continue to ask my friends who are running for president and i have talked with all of them this week. I asked them to rise above the level of the press and say we are going to talk about the Real Solutions here. [applause] and they can question each other because it is important to know where people stand on these issues. You cannot just answer a question by saying, yeah, it will be ok. You have to actually answer the question. I think both the moderators and the other candidates should insist on answers from everybody because we, the people, deserve to know who we are choosing for president. [applause] ok, trick question here broker convention, good thing or bad thing . I would prefer in general not to have one but there is a reason that the process is in place. The only thing i would really have a problem with is if somebody starts changing the rules. Leave the rules as they are and play by the rules and i think we will be ok. You have hundreds of thousands of supporters, where do you tell your supporters to go . You talk about the criteria of the next president ial candidate, where do they go . We have millions of supporters. [cheers and applaise] and it has been rather astonishing hearing from them and seeing how enthusiastic they are. They are still saying, whatever you do, we will support you but i have heard a lot of troubling things like people saying, if youre not going to be him at ticket, im not going to vote. Thats not a good thing. Because what we have to recognize is that when you do not vote, you are voting but you are voting for the other side. [applause] we cannot afford that. If we get in there, someone like Hillary Clinton, uh, who loves sol alinsky and loves margaret sanger, she will get 24 Supreme Court picks. That is going to, i think, ruin the future for our children, our grandchildren and our progeny. I think that is just as bad as taking a knife and stabbing them with it. Think about that. So lets not do that. Lets make sure that we act responsibly, exercise our civic duty and please, no matter how you feel, recognize that if we choose another secular [indiscernible] , we have done our children in and we cannot afford to do that. [applause] dr. Carson thank you. Mercedes dr. Carson, what do you think the candidates are not addressing . Dr. Carson i think they are not addressing the fiscal gap. Have you noticed that no one has talked about a cisco gap a fiscal gap . No washington politician will talk about a fiscal gap, that i am not a washington but politician, i can talk about it. Medicare, medicaid, Social Security, all of the governmental programs going forward, versus the money that we have coming back in through taxes and other Revenue Sources and other Revenue Sources should be a huge amount of money because this country owns over 150 trillion in assets. Now if you give over 150 trillion in assets to a wellrun business, and we would not have a National Debt. That would wipe that are easily just on the National Return each year. You know, i obviously became very familiar with the corporate world, spending 18 years on the board of kellogg and 16 years on the board of cosco costco, and seeing how things are run efficiently, if our government were a business, it would be out of this in one week. Out of business in one week. I mean, that is how bad it is. But at any rate, the amount of money that we have coming back in the amount of money that we own it should be about equal if we were fiscally responsible. If we are not, a gap forms. Bring them forward to todays dollars, and is called a fiscal gap and it sits at over 2 trillion. Someone came along and said, 200 trillion. United states of america, for your birthday, i am paying off your National Debt and wrote a check for 19 trillion, many people would be dancing in the streets, but we would not even be close to being out of trouble. That is what no one will tell you. And we need to know that kind of information so that when people come along and say, free college for every body, we know how to react to that. That is just going to drive us off the fiscal cliff much factor much faster than we were before. Mercedes describe one word give us one word that would describe mr. Carson. Ok, two. The crowd is answering for you. Dr. Carson i would say the children. Because that is what this is all about. The children. This is their future. [applause] dr. Carson and, you know, my whole career is about giving children a Second Chance and, you know, it has been so wonderful on the campaign trail, because i have met over 15,000 people, and i get to see them all over the place and it is just wonderful. I remember i was in kentucky last year and there was a young man there and he him and his family came up and they said, do you remember us . And i said, you look familiar, because i say that every body, [laughter] and they say, you operated on him when he was one year old. You did an operation where you take out half of the brain to stop intractable seizures and he just graduated from College Number one in his class. [applause] dr. Carson and then there was a beautiful young woman who came up to my wife and she said, are you the wife of dr. Ben carson . She said, yes. And she said, he operated on me when i was in my mothers womb. And now she has grown up into a beautiful young woman. And just goes to show that people who are sitting in washington just do not know what they are talking about. [applause] mercedes my last question. You have brought such civility, a tone of civility to this race. What advice do you get to the candidates who are left . Dr. Carson i would tell them that they must understand that we, the republicans, are not each others enemies, and we cannot afford [applause] dr. Carson we cannot afford to give the democrats all of this ammunition. You know, i wish that people would remember what happened last time and how the republicans were destroying each other, and you know, president obama did not have a good record to run on, and that is putting it mildly. But they were able to use so much of the material that we used against each other that he was able to win. You know, that is going to happen again, we have already supplied them with an enormous amount of material. Could we just stop . The way to ferret this thing out is not a calling each other names, but really by challenging each others positions and having them explain why they believe what they do. That will sort out all of the things that need to be sorted out without us injuring the brand. The republican brand is really, i think, grossly mischaracterized, and we add to some of that ourselves, and we have got to be much smarter. It is one of the things that i will be continuing to work with the party, particularly to bring in a wider variety of people and to make our positions well known, it is our positions, our good positions, they make sense and they will save america. [applause] mercedes ben carson, you are a man of great faith who love their country, who loves your family, and we cant thank you enough for being here with the cpac family, and god bless you, and we are behind you all of the way. Dr. Carson thank you. [applause] dr. Carson thank you. [applause] [captions Copyright National cable satellite corp. 2016] [captioning performed by the national captioning institute, which is responsible for its caption content and accuracy. Visit ncicap. Org] during campaign 2016, cspan takes you on the road to the white house as we follow the candidates on cspan, cspan radio, and cspan. Org. Former president ial candidate carly fiorina. Was featured on the second night of the Political Action conference. She talked about citizen activism and the president ial race. She is introduced by Heritage Foundation president and former senator jim demint. This is a half hour. Mr. Demint good evening, everyone. They got me with a nice light of a nice bite of stake in my mouth so i hope i can still address you. Everyone, please continue to eat. , thank grateful for acu you and your board. Thank you so much, matt, you and the board have done a great job. Every year is so important to the movement, and i want to thank the American Conservative Union for what they do, and i think we should all give them a round of applause tonight. [applause] mr. Demint i am also grateful, all of us feel this way at heritage, to work with so many great conservative groups across the country, all of them display behind us, and proud of all of my heritage colleagues, if you could please wave your hands, i appreciate all of the work you did to be a part of this conference. I thank all of you for being here tonight. I have a great honor to introduce, kind of a new friend of mine, carly fiorina. [applause] mr. Demint carly is here with her husband, frank. Carly and i havent known each other for too long, but we know her because of her Business Career with at t and lucent and hewlettpackard, a Great Success there, but we had earlier tonight and opportunity to share a new perspective that she has gained from really become one of the becoming one of the leaders of the conservative movement, first in her race for senate in california and then on the National Stage for running for president. On the campaign trail, she proved that she could lock horns with the best of them. [applause] mr. Demint and those other guys who messed with her usually got the worst of it, and actually, i heard that in flex that netflix is starting a new series on television, fiorina warrior princess. [laughter] [applause] mr. Demint but after carly decided to end her race for president , she and i talked on the phone and had a good couple of laughs about the perceptions that we had of each other before this started. I told her that i thought that she was a mushy moderate, part of the establishment, and she said, that is funny, i heard that you were a radical, streamist, right wing nut radical, extremist, rightwing nut. We had a good laugh. We both had gotten to know each other and realized we share the same values and the interesting conservative runcibles and we were on the same page. Now very much on the same team. In her campaign, there was principle and substance in everything she did. Her campaign brought a message about a strong economy, Free Enterprise for american businesses, and families alike. She looked at washington with a suspicious eye based on her experience as a successful executive, and she knows exactly what is wrong with the current administration. She also bore a message of life for the most vulnerable members of our society. [applause] mr. Demint and the respect for the women, the mothers that nurture our children and raise the families in this country, and she said this with the perspective not only of a mother, but of a ceo who actually hires a lot of the mothers who are out in the workforce. She understands that at the end of the day, our government must increase in power if americans are going to increase in prosperity. She delivered this message like few others. She wants to continue this fight and be a part of what we are all doing here, and she is here tonight i think to encourage and inspire us and to offer her ideas on how we can all Work Together to build a stronger america. So please welcome tonight one of the new heroes or one of my new heroes in the conservative movement, carly fiorina. [applause] [cheers and applause] ms. Fiorina thank you. Thank you so much. It is great be back here at cpac. And thank you, jim, for that wonderful introduction. Jim and i, its true, became new friends. I am very grateful for that. And it is great to see old and new friends this evening. I want you to have your minds at ease while you your dinner. I am not here to hurl insults or discuss the finer points of spray tans. [laughter] ms. Fiorina i am not granted going to discuss excessive perspiration. And while i also have very small hands [laughter] [applause] ms. Fiorina i have a really big phone. [laughter] ms. Fiorina that is the good news. I come here tonight not in Heated Campaign mode but to pause and reflect. My purpose really tonight is to help us remember who we are, to remind us of all that binds us together as americans and as conservatives and perhaps to suggest a path forward. But here is the bad news. Some of you may know that i studied history and philosophy, and so i need to go back in time and place for this reflection. I actually think that in times of danger and discord, of controversy and consequence, it is important to remember and to think about where we come from so that we can see more clearly where we need to go. So grab your wine. [laughter] ms. Fiorina the study of history is the study of power. The ebbs and flows of military, territorial, economic, and personal power. Much of our history and much of the philosophy that shaped our union is all about the power of the individual in relation to the power of the state and the power of the divine. Our founders actually were consumed with concern about power. They had seen firsthand the abuse of power when concentrated in the hands of the few, whether in markets or in politics. Our constitution, therefore, in shrines individual liberties and rights, but perhaps even more importantly, if faithfully executed, our constitution protects against the abuse of power, the collection of power, the concentration of power by the few. It is why the powers of the federal government are enumerated and why the ninth and 10th amendments spell out that powers belong to individuals or to the states. [applause] ms. Fiorina in other words, this nation was built on the principle that power, whether economic or political, power dispersed into the hands of the many is wiser, more compassionate, more competent, more just, more effective, then power concentrated in the hands of the few than power concentrated in the hands of the few. They were smart enough along the way as they designed a system of government, they were smart enough to realize that we, the people, can sometimes be swayed by fears and passion instead of guided by reason. In short, we, the people, can be wrong. What they were absolutely convinced that power concentrated in the hands of the few could be abused and ultimately produce a far worse outcome. And amazingly, although they were the ruling elite of the nation, they limited their own power. In George Washingtons farewell address, he spoke about the dangerous rise of Political Parties. His point in that speech, among others, was that Political Parties create a titfortat, a backandforth bickering, and have people focusing more on their team than focusing on their republic. It is why we here are united by conservative principles and not by a single party. In other words, 220 years ago this september, george washington, our first president , was worried that we would cease to be a citizen government and instead be ruled a Political Class more concerned about its own power, political influence, and prestige. Maybe he was onto something. This selection, like every election, is about power. Who has it, who wants it, who keeps it, who loses it. And while the media and the political establishment in both parties think they know best, citizens out there are demanding a restoration of their own power. [applause] ms. Fiorina as iran for the presidency, i had the great privilege to talk to citizens all across our exceptional nation. My message was that we as citizens, we must take our country back from the elite, the establishment, the ruling class of both parties, and what i heard from people of all kinds and all places was a feeling of powerlessness in their own lives. A loss of power over their own destinies. Feeling powerless should not be part of the american dna. And so knowing this, people are angry or fed up or afraid, or worst of all, apathetic. I have met veterans who, with tears in their eyes, tell me about how powerless they feel when they have to fight to receive the care that they have already earned. Students who feel powerless to chart their own futures. Parents who feel powerless in the ability to teach their own children. People who are just scraping by and wondering when they lost that sense of opportunity and sensibility that has always defined this nation. Here is a shocking statistic. 80 , 80 , of americans believe that the government is corrupt and that the media and the political establishment is focused squarely on the preservation of their own power and position. That 80 means that democrats, independents, republicans, and i all agree on something. This is not working for us anymore. [applause] ms. Fiorina i say the American People are pretty smart. I have met lots of people who just quit voting. They quit following politics. Not because they dont care but because they think they dont count. Too Many Americans have come to believe that nothing that they do will make any difference at all. Against this backdrop of dismay and discontent which has been going on for some time, the political establishment decided that it knew exactly what to do this time, this political cycle. Now it has always funded these gatherings to pile on the democrats, so let us start their. There. [laughter] [applause] ms. Fiorina the democratic establishment, aided and abetted by the media establishment, have now decided that it is hillarys turn. Last year, the media called me mean, because i said just like mrs. Clinton that i had traveled thousands of miles around the globe but unlike mrs. Clinton, i understand that flying is an activity, and not an accomplishment. Mrs. Clinton named this as an accomplishment. [applause] ms. Fiorina during my campaign, i was taken to task by Chris Matthews and others that Hillary Clinton had lied about benghazi, something did everyone now says and knows is true. I was criticized i was criticized for suggesting that mrs. Clinton, far from dean a trailblazing women who has risen to her own career and accomplishments is, in fact, someone who has used her husbands name and charisma to sacrifice everything in the power of her ambition. [applause] this is the clinton way. [applause] ms. Fiorina i often joked on the campaign trail that while Hillary Clinton aims for the white house, she is far better suited for the big house. [applause] ms. Fiorina 2000 of hillarys released emails were deemed some level of classified. That is one out of 14. So here is another way to think about this. Imagine that every other friday, every single email that you send that day in danger to our national security. I have held the highest clearance is available to a civilian. I have worked closely with the cia, the nsa, the dod, and i cannot imagine sending classified material over a private server. Most of us cannot. [applause] ms. Fiorina now we all know why Hillary Clinton did this. She has waited her entire life to be president. Even saturday night live gets the joke. Remember citizens, you will elect me . And by the way, i hope you enjoy the little howl of that all of us left at your little table. No, mrs. Clinton, you cannot wipe a server with a towel. [laughter] despite the misgivings, she will be the partys standardbearer. The establishment knows that despite the discomfort of other voters, the establishment knows that hillary will never loosen their grip on power. The Democratic Party establishment is, however, a little worried about this lack of enthusiasm, particularly among women. So now, they are reminding people of the historic nature of her candid see, that she is a woman, after all, and therefore women must a vote fo her. I have news for you, mrs. Clinton. I am a woman and i am not voting for you. [laughter] [applause] ms. Fiorina to all of the women and girls across this country, regardless of your ideology or your party, let me say this. Do not let others define you. [applause] ms. Fiorina do not let anyone tell you who you have to vote for or what you have to believe. That is not feminism. Feminism does not shut down conversations. It does not threaten women. It is not about ideology. A feminist is a woman who lives the life she chooses and who uses all of her godgiven gifts. [applause] ms. Fiorina and as a woman and a feminist, let me promise you that i will spend the next six months making sure that Hillary Clinton is not our next president. [applause] ms. Fiorina ok, now that we have gotten that fun part out of the way because it is easy and satisfying to criticize the Democratic Party establishment because we have to do it, we also have to be honest tonight and look ourselves in the mirror. [applause] according to all of the exit polls in several states now, over half of the republican electorate feel betrayed by their party. That is a big number and that is a strong word. The truth is, the republican establishment thought it also knew just what to do after the 2012 election. First, they decided that we needed comprehensive immigration reform, then, we needed to talk less about the social issues. And there were so many candidates in the primaries and too many debates, so lets limit the number of debates, and in fact, lets just condense the primary calendar so our presumptive nominee can roll up the delegates faster. And lets make sure that the voters know who the establishment thinks should be the nominee. Lets have all of the pundits and all of the money make the case right from the start about who we think is next up to bat. Republican voters said, no, we need to secure the border. No, citizenship in this country has to mean something. No, our religious liberty is at stake. No, we dont want who you want. We want to choose for ourselves. And the more choices we have, the better we like it. [applause] ms. Fiorina but now many plugins and not as few current and former politicians are decrying the wisdom of these same voters. They dont like how people are voting right now. But these voters look at the Republican Party and look at what they have produced an think that they can do better deciding for themselves. Who can blame them . The border is not secure. 22 veterans commit suicide every single day. Spending increases year after year after year and has 44 years. Despite promises, republicans have not stopped the march of government overreach, government regulation, and entitlements have not been reformed. The government is incompetent and corrupt. [applause] and while the establishment now professes its horror at the choice of millions of voters at the ballot box, these same voters are asking, what have you done for me . [applause] ms. Fiorina now dont misunderstand me. I am no donald trump fan. [laughter] i did not vote for him in the virginia primary. But nevertheless, i understand and respect the people who did vote for him. I know many of them. They are not racists or crazies or stupid
