No agreement has been reached to reopen the government and raise the debt limit. The House Chamber will gaveling at noon eastern for morning hour, 2 00 legislative work. The house continuing their approach to take a shortterm funding bills to reopen parts of the federal government. This afternoon, they deal with one dealing with indian affairs. Lawmakers will continue to debate on a measure in the senate to lift the debt ceiling until 2014. According to treasury secretary jack lew, nations Borrowing Limit will be met this thursday. For an update on the current shutdown talks, we spoke this morning with a capitol hill reporter. For more on the talks going on behind the scenes, we bring on a National Congressional correspondent who has been helping us cover the twists and turns of what is going on. Good morning. Thanks for joining us. Here is a story from the washington the national journal. Where is that sense of optimism coming from . They are boiling down the issues to spending cap levels for the next few months , the length of a debt ceiling discussion. A series ofis disagreements on length of time and other aspects, other concessions that might be added to this. What is the schedule of meetings today, what are you watching . Caller meetings will begin with the leaders. House members who took off saturday, in what could be ff, they willa hu be returning in the afternoon, actually around 6 30 p. M. , four votes. Host what is the role the house is playing . I it seem that there were injured toward a deal. Now the focus seems to be on the senate. Thatr House Republicans control the chamber are worried that something may fall in dunlap from the senate with hours to go before thursdays debt ceiling deadline. When they will Start Talking about in earnest today is whether they should simply wait to be jammed on something, or come up with something, yet again, to pitch themselves over to the senate. ,deas could be much of the same an extension of any timeframe, reopening the government, but attaching concessions like repealing the medical device tax, which goes toward paying a small portion of obamacare, the Affordable Care act, or other things like the socalled bitter amendment, which would end Health Care Subsidies for members of congress and their staff. Host the front page of the Washington Post does quote has a piece on harry reid and mitch mcconnell. Who do you think the dealmakers will be . Guest officially it is reid and likely, itbut more will go through others. Over on the house side, paul , in recent weeks, has been in the background. In recent days, has emerged as a major player in trying to put something together. One senator getting a lot of attention is Susan Collins of maine, republican. Was on cnn yesterday talking about the discussions. I want to play a bit of what she said. [video clip] we have a responsibility to govern and we are continuing to talk. I am hopeful that we spark dialogue that did not exist before we put out a plan. I think i have made a real contribution that way and elements of the plan that and ir murkowski, ayotte, have put forth, will end up in the compromise. House, what is the role that senator collins is playing . Guest she is playing a leading role, as well as other bipartisan senators, to come up with a plan. The problem with her plan is it would have maintain sequestration level spending through january 15. Earlythat date, in january, lower spending levels would have kicked in automatically. Democrats do not mind a short Term Agreement that would keep those lower sequestration levels in effect through november 15, but they have been marking a bills for fiscal year 2014 beginning in october, at a much higher level. To delay any budget negotiations to address what they think should be a repeal of parts of sequester, if not all of it, they do not want to agree to a package that would keep things as they are for another 5, 6 months, even three months. The shutdown situation, the debt ceiling, are these now tied together, is there a chance they are solved separately . Guest the overriding theme seems to be the debt deadline on thursday. I suspect both sides want to do everything all at once, at least for a temporary extension of both. Democrats are pushing for a more lengthy debt ceiling extension, so they do not have to put up with this again in a few weeks. Have the holidays coming up on both fronts, and they realize these would be difficult items to get through. The Business Community does not want to do with the uncertainty of the Government Shutdown, and more so, potential default over the holiday seasons. On friday, the Family Research council held its eighth annual values voter summit in washington, d. C. With speakers congresswoman Michele Bachmann of minnesota and former pennsylvania senator rick santorum. Also remarks from radio talkshow host sandy rios. Well, folks, our next speaker is not only the first republican woman to serve in the house of representatives for the state of minnesota, shes also the first republican woman to run for the United States of america. She has been a true champion for values voters on cutting spending, government waste, and defending the constitution. She has been the most outspoken opponent to obamacare. And as most of you know by now, next year shell be stepping down from the house. Would you use this opportunity as she comes to the podium to not only welcome her to the values voters summit, but to thank her for her amazing courage in representing our values in this nation. Ladies and gentlemen, Michele Bachmann. [applause] oh, what a beautiful sight. What a beautiful sight. Thank you. Youre having a good day, arent you . I love you too. I love you too. Thank you so much. Thank you for being here for the values voters summit. I dont know if you noticed on your program, right now miley cyrus was supposed to be up here speaking, and they made me the substitute, so i hope thats ok for you this afternoon. Ok, so here is the story. I was out walking, minding my own business as i usually do in the morning. Usually im causing trouble in d. C. , but in the mornings, i go out and i walk, and i usually am walking somewhere around the National Mall and somewhere around the memorial. So i was out walking, as i said, minding my own business, enjoying the beautiful day. It was about 80 degrees out. And all the sudden on my phone, in came an email, and it was from one of my fellow colleagues, who im sure you all know and love, steve king of iowa, and the email came in, and it said this it said that there was an honor flight coming in to the world war ii memorial, and he said that there are barricades up and there will be many, many of our finest generation that will be there, the greatest generation, and it was an all points bulletin for members of congress to come and face down the National Park service and open up the world war ii memorial. So i went in my mom clothes. Thats what i walk around in in the morning. I went over to the memorial, and i went from the back side, and i couldnt believe my eyes. Because here were tour buses facing the world war ii memorial, fairly narrow strip of sidewalk, and iron barricades had been set up with police tape. So i pulled out my camera. I took the photos, because i thought, when are you ever going to see world war ii vets shut out of their own memorial . My step dad had just taken an honor flight as an 89yearold together with my 88yearold uncle, highlight of their life. My uncle had subsequently passed away from taking that honor flight, and i thought to myself, really . You would say no to an 84 to 99 yearold and prevent them from coming in and seeing their own monument . So i ran over. Steve was standing next to the bare yes. I yelled charge, and away we go, and we opened the barriers. [applause] you can try your petty tyrannies, but youre never going to succeed. Every single day since that fateful morning, we have had members of congress at the honor flight, including this last saturday. Steve king told me that there are going to be 10 honor flights coming that day and did we want to go and take a patriotic tour and make sure that we would be there for every honor flight. So we went down. I had a big contingent from my home state of minnesota, and we were there to make sure that those memorials were open. But then after we had done our duty, it was actually 90 degrees on saturday, and by the way, in an additional act of pettiness, the Obama Administration also when its 90 degrees, decided to turn off the water fountain on the National Mall on saturday. But they went one worse. They shut down the public bathrooms that were needed to be required for those who are there, the world war ii veterans. And so steve and i said lets keep going, were not done. So we opened up the world war ii memorial, and then we went on to the Vietnam Memorial. The Vietnam Memorial also had barricades around it, and it even went better. It had a National Park Service Ranger standing in front. You never see park rangers in front of these memorials ever. Theyre open to the public. Then we saw a female Police Officer holding a german shepherd. You want to talk about an act of intimidation to keep people out . And we said whats going on, officer, why arent the people allowed to come in . Well, the memorials are closed, and im volunteering. And so i said to him, you volunteer to do this . So after that, we asked him, whos allowed to come in, because they had a narrow opening. They said those who went to serve in vietnam and the family members of those who lost people on the wall. Now think of the discretion i give you just this example think of the discretion and the power that the commander in chief has given to himself, and thats our symbol. Thats our symbol. And so steve and i said no, this is a First Amendment right to come into this memorial. We physically lifted up the iron barriers. We put them to the side. We said come in, and come all. This is your memorial. Youre americans, and come on in. [applause] hundreds of individuals came into that memorial, and then we decided to leave and see what was happening at the korean memorial. That is a very difficult memorial to put barricades around, but the park Service Managed to do it. We walked up again to the ranger. We asked the ranger what was going on. We heard the same song and dance. So once again, we had americans in wheelchairs and mothers with baby strollers and so we did the same thing. We opened up that barrier, and we got the Korean War Memorial open, and people were able to go in, and they were able to go out. From there we walked over to the Lincoln Memorial, one of the most infamous memorials to see Yellow Police tape barricading, as well as barricades. As steve and i stood in front of the memorial, we saw a grandmother and a grandfather with their 10yearold grandson, and they said to us, you know, we asked our grandson on his 10th birthday, which was last saturday, where would you like to go for your 10th birthday, and he could have gone anywhere in the United States. He could have gone to disneyland. But he told us he wanted to see the Lincoln Memorial, and were here today for our grandson, we dont know what to do. So i turned to steve, and i said you know what we got to do. And hes not going fight anymore with me. So we went up to the barrier. A woman was listening to us. Steve had his wire cutters in his pocket, because thats what we need now, and so we went up to the barrier, and one woman said this one doesnt have any wire on it. So once again steve and i lifted up the iron barriers. We moved them aside. We took our scissor. We cut the police tape. He and i went up the steps. We had some other people with us. We said come, lets go up, lets take this hill. 600 americans took the Lincoln Memorial on saturday. [applause] we took that hill, and this is the Police Lineup tape. This is our consolation prize. And so the obama this is our symbol. You see the Obama Administration is turning us into a police line. I say we are not a police line. You can choose that or, mr. President , you can choose to follow article two in the constitution of the United States. Because you have absolutely no right to irrigate that level of power to yourself, just like we saw this last week, with the inn on the Blue Ridge Parkway in north carolina. We had heard from mark meadows, members of congress, last friday morning that unbelievably the United States government was going to shut down a private with no federal money and no federal employees. We heard that friday morning. That afternoon i picked up my phone in my office. I called the owner of the inn, and i said youre a member of congress, i was told your predicament. Members of congress will stand with you. At 1 15 in the afternoon, the owner said to me, you better act quick, because theres blue lights flashing in my driveway right now. Theyre shutting the gate to my hotel. So i told him, grab your cell phone camera, go out, take pictures of whats going on, and you show america whats happening to a private business owner. That afternoon i called my husband, and i said think of this. This is the 18th Government Shutdown since the time of jimmy carter, although some people say the four years of jimmy carter was probably the longest american shutdown. But i called my husband, and i said to him, now just think, in the next shutdown, we own two private health clinics, and i said now, imagine, obamacare came online during this shutdown. So in the future, people will presumably Purchase Health insurance if they can get to them in these private exchanges, so in the future in a shutdown, will we see another president obama move where he puts padlocks on a private clinic like ours just because we might be able to take insurance . Will they stop a kidney transplant just in process . Will they stop a scheduled c section in process . What will they do . Who would have ever thought youd shut down the Lincoln Memorial or the world war ii memorial . Who would have thought theyd ever shut down pheasant season in minnesota after youve already bought your permit . Who would have thought on a state highway in front of Mount Rushmore there would be barriers and cones so that people couldnt get in on a state highway to be able to see Mount Rushmore . Who would have ever thought it . Oh, i love the fight of people in south dakota, because they removed the cones. They removed the barriers. The Obama Administration put it back. Four feet of snow fell and the snowplows pushed the cones and the barriers down the canyon. Take that you see, this is a big fight. Were supposed to be ashamed that this fight is about obamacare. Im not. Im not ashamed. When obamacare passed, i was there that night grieving, weeping on the floor when obamacare passed, i had made the first call to the American People, and i called you all to come in to washington, d. C. , to look at the whites of the eyes of the members of congress and say to them, want with my healthcare you dont. 40,000 of you responded and came to washington, d. C. That created the rise of the tea party, and that created the victory that pulled the gavel out of Nancy Pelosis hand in 2010. That was the tea party that did that. The night that obamacare passed, i turned to mike pence on the floor, now the governor of the state of indiana, and i said, mike, we have to tell the American People that we havent waved the white flag of surrender on socialized medicine. I said somebodys got to introduce the bill to repeal it. He said go for it, michele. I did. I went back to my office, wrote the repeal bill, and i was the first one on the floor the next morning. I introduced the repeal bill. Steve king later that day also introduced a repeal bill. Weve been fighting ever since. This is consequential, because it is life and death for the American People, and for the american economy. Its worth fighting over. [applause] but this fight that were in right now is far bigger than even the obamacare fight, far bigger, its far bigger than the National Bankruptcy that is impending upon our nation right now, that is putting our childrens future at risk. Its bigger than the debt. Its bigger than the spending. Because i said what is at risk in all of this is whether we will be the police line state or whether we will be a constitutional republic. It is that grave and that consequential, because an election was had. The results were what we all wanted to see, but an election was had. We have a democrat president. We have a democratcontrolled senate. But we have a republican controlled house. By virtue of the election of the American People, they said we will have a divided government and a divided government we have. And we will not silence the voice of the American People in this fight. Because you see, if the president can be petty as he is, you see it firsthand in these death benefits that are denied to the fallen. As if it wasnt enough to leave our men on the field in benghazi, now he is using our soldiers as political pawns. This is the height of throwing under the bus some of the most innocent victims that there are. We do not forget, and we do stand, and we do fight, and i say to you all, this isnt the time for caving. This is the time for standing. And i am proud of the leadership in the house. Usually i am fighting the leadership in the house, like about 99 of the time. I am here to say to you, ive been extremely proud that we have stood, because what i have seen is that fight and resolve that says the people count, and youve got to pay attention. Thats why to me, when it comes to obamacare, i have stood for repeal, i have begged for defund. Thank you, ted. Thank you, mike. I have stood for that. But i believe what we must stand for now is to make sure that obamacare is voluntary for everyone in the United States. The best line this week was how can we possibly force 100 of americans to be taxed to pay for a product they dont to want buy from a website that does not work . And so, therefore, whether you are a big business. Whether you are a small business. Whether you are an average american, which is the greatest thing in the world to be, whether you are a doctor, a nurse, a medical device manufacturer, an insurer, whoever you are, this egregious system that will be ultimately known as death care must be defeated. And you see, this is our line in the sand of police state versus constitutional republic. This is it. When the federal government controls your healthcare, they literally control life and death. And so i say we should do no less than demand that president obama allow obamacare to be voluntary for every american. No forcing anyone to go into this system. If you thought the n. S. A. Was looking at your private data, you havent seen anything until these federal hubs are created. Ill end with this. You see, it was 1,281 years ago today that Charles Martell won the victory. That day changed the course of history. For 100 years, the islamist marauders had won battle after battle after battle and were moving their fear and their tyranny across the world. You see, Charles Martell stood up against that, the famous, brilliant Victor Davis Hanson wrote an article, this military historian told us about what this meant for the rise of modern europe. You see, it was the persecution and it was the suffering that was brought about by this islamic insurgency that brought about the unity from Charles Martell, where they literally stood shoulder to shoulder with their shields up and their javelins pointed, and they won that divisive battle. And charlemagne became the father of modern europe, and Christian Europe and the values of Christian Europe prevailed, and ultimately led to those same immigrants coming to the United States and creating this magnificent country. You see battles count. You need to know when to fight. This is the time to fight. This is our moment for pass period of time. And i thank god that we finally have the will to stand up, take on this oppressive president , and stand for what is good and righteous and true. Its a battle of our time. You choose. You choose. But also with her father, reverend a. D. King, and her mother, naomi king. She currently serves as a pastoral associate and director of africanamerican outreach for priests for life and gospel of life ministries. Shes also a voice for the silent no more Awareness Campaign sharing her personal testimony about abortion, gods forgiveness and healing. She is the recipient of the life pride award and also the Cardinal John oconnor prolife hall of fame in 2011. Shes also a bestselling author. Among her books is how can the dream survive if we murder the children. Ladies and gentlemen, would you please welcome to the podium right now, dr. Alveda king. [applause] praise the lord. How great thou art how great thou art glory to god. [applause] he is worthy he is worthy. I tell you such power, such truth that i have heard from everyone who has spoken today and i thank god for each of you and your presence as well. I have written some remarks. Oh please follow with me. As we stand together today, praying for faith, family and opportunity for all, we can only be amazed by the hope that is rising among we the people. As a approach my 10th year as director of africanamerican outreach for priests for life, i look back at how we have come, but i dont look back for long. Because, at the same time, i know how far we yet have to travel. Together we can embrace the power of faith working in our lives through gods agape love. We must believe love will carry us over difficult bridges. We are indeed facing turbulent times. You may remember that last year a man was sentenced to 41 months in federal prison for threatening the life of father frank dimon. Here in d. C. , the Family Research council however faced more than a threat. You endured an attack on the lives of everyone of the frc staff. A gayrights activist enters the frc building with enough ammunition to kill everyone in it. He came to the frc as a gunman, fueled by hatemongering from the Southern Poverty Law Center. The shooter admitted he was directed to the location by the severn policy while sdlc claims to fight against hate, they have been saying hateful things about the Family Research council and other groups who are represented here today. By the grace of god, the heroism and the heroism of f frc Security Officer mr. Leo johnson, who took a bullet, yes, yes, yes. [applause] god bless him and his family. Who took a bullet from the shooter, many deaths were averted. Today, the shooter is behind bars as a result of being convicted for domestic terrorism. But the fc lc and many others who count hate and anger and false claims of civil rights activism still roam free to confuse the masses with their deception. Friends, nick no mistake, no matter our political affiliations or our Church Denominations or our personal desire issue of the day, we are now called together to humbly fight the good fight. [applause] yes, yes, yes. So together in unity and love for humanity, we gird ourselves with the truth. We carried a shield of faith. Our sort is not a spinning soundbite or a focus group, but the word of god. Please permit me to give you a personal confession. At the top of my list of regrets are the deaths of three of my children. One through miscarriage and to buy abortion. Down the list, i regret having said to a group of peers that my uncle dr. Martin luther king jr. Was a republican. Yes, my grandfather, dr. Martin luther king senior was a registered republican, but uncle ml was an independent. As a rich and and civil rights activist, he follows the path of not publicly endorsing a Political Party or candidate. He once wrote, not the servant or master of either. I am not inextricably bound to your party. As one who has been elected to the Georgia House of representatives as a democrat, and who has been a president ial appointee in a republican administration, im beginning to understand the wisdom of my uncle ml. My name is not to become involved my aim is not to become involved in political squabble but to speak the truth as best i can. We are commanded to pray for those in authority and i know that we all do that. We also pray for our nation, understanding that human reasoning and Human Solutions are too finite to bring an ultimate resolution to our problems. The saddest and sickest part longs for the gift of salvation in christ. Recently recent remarks by pope francis remind us that human beings have immediate problems in their lives and these are not limited to the great moral questions of our time. Hope francis says that he must deal with the entire human condition, not just the pressing questions, abortion and marriage. Yet he is not suggesting that there is in any way a license to sin. Rather, he is advocating for a license to repent, to be healed and to be delivered from human failings. Human issues, social issues are intertwined. Abortion, for instance, cannot be separated from the breakdown of the family, which cannot be separated on the attack on Natural Procreative marriage. Neither can abortion be separated from human trafficking, rape, child abuse or host of other issues. I believe that when pope francis was looking at the entire human condition, he is speaking to every human heart and so must we. What i look at this human condition today, i see evil triplets, a three headed monster, racism, reproductive genocide and sexual perversion. It will take jesus to set that record straight. Hallelujah, glory to god. [applause] i once thought that white People Killed my uncle. I told you this was a confession. Not just one white man or a conspiracy of white men, but all white men were responsible. I father, reverend king corrected me. He said, alveda, you cannot hate white people. What people do not kill your father, the devil did. Before that, i thought that god wanted me to hate white people and i was angry with god for creating white people and the human condition called racism. You see how confused i was. It took my earthly father and my heavenly father to help me realize that acts 27 17 was true. We are all of one human blood. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. [applause] i have met people who battle with sexual perversion and human sexuality issues. For example, i have met, according to matthew 19, some people who may have been born gay, some people who may have been made gay, the bible says unit, but it does not only mean castration, it comes in many forms. And some people who have chosen to be gay. On the other hand i have met people who were born with conditions are developed conditions of sickness and disease in their bodies, hype blood pressure, heart problems, all kinds of issues. I myself have suffered from a human error called abortion. Yet i have been forgiven and healed by the blood of jesus. So there, hallelujah, so theres no human condition, whether it is lost or sickness or greed or any condition of the heart the body or the soul that cannot reach your it, healed or delivered and set free and transforms by the blood of jesus. Hallelujah. [applause] hallelujah. If we were born a certain way, no matter what way that was, we can be born again. Hallelujah. So therefore we must all embrace each other what might uncle ml called the beloved community. In love we must carry all our cares to the lord and leave them there. Today, we are at an impasse, or seeming impasse over obamacare. The president says that if we wont pay for free Birth Control and abortion, he wont let the government operate. My friends, i have daughters and granddaughters. They need free poisoned Birth Control and life destroying abortion like they need holes in their heads. Oh no. [applause] what are families need is good education, decent and safe living environments, the job is a grownup and good work ethics and moral values. They need the security of living in a world free of terrorism. Any Healthy Bodies and a healthy growing economy. They need so much and washington is not delivering a check banked on a solid foundation. Recently as i went through airport security, the tsa officer was so sad that i had to stop and pray for him before i made it through check on it. This is really the good truth. The officer was on salary for low, but was required to work anyway because the shutdown prevented him from getting a salary. After the prayer i received a very somber thank you and my credentials were then returned to me. What is so amazing to me is that our veterans and others are being needlessly and directly impacted with no end in sight for relief. Why must veterans and honest, hardworking americans suffer so that forcibly subsidize Birth Control and abortions can reign. This summit is so important and im so glad to see all of you. We can pray together for those in it or easily can lead peaceful and not deceitful lives. You can elect government officials who have hearts for righteousness. My uncle ml in his 1967 christmas sermon spoke these words. Quote we are children of god in his image and therefore must be respected as such. When we truly believe in the sacredness of human personality, we wont exploit people, we wont trample over people with the iron feet of oppression. We wont kill anybody. I am encouraged to see what we are not waiting anymore. We the people, red and yellow, black and white all precious in gods sight are crossing every barrier to march to the polls and vote for true freedom and true liberty. As we move ahead, may god bless and guide us, amen and glory, hallelujah. His truth is marching on. I do want to say about her next speaker that he is one of the original pioneers of the pro life, profamily and progrowth values Family Movement for more than three decades. Many leaders quote from Ronald Reagan. This man actually served in his administration as his undersecretary of education and chief domestic policy adviser for eight years. He has served as Senior Vice President for focus on the family and also is president of the Family Research council and ran for president of the United States in 2000. Today, he serves as chairman of campaign for working families pac, and dedicated to electing conservative candidates to congress and is president of american values. Ladies and gentlemen, would you please welcome columnist, radio talkshow host and true values voter pioneer, gary bauer. [applause] thank you, thank you very much. I appreciate that. I think i tell you this every year. When you give somebody a standing ovation you really put them on the spot. Ronald reagan told me once that the white house that after i got out of the administration and would speak more than if i ever got a standing ovation when i was introduced i should sit down immediately because i had nowhere to go but down after that. So i am proceeding at my own risk, my friends. Still, it was a very warm welcome. How many of you were here today when senator cruise had to put up with that unpleasantness in the audience . This is the kind of harassment that you are subjected to if you are Michele Bachmann are you or ted cruz or you are the congressmen that were appeared a little while ago. Anybody that comes to the city and stands for your values, they just dont get into debates, theyre have to deal with an opponent, they are harassed. It is the politics of personal destruction. Ted cruz campaigned on stopping obamacare and told the people of texas that they elected him senator she would come to washington dc and do what he promised to do. For that, he must now be destroyed. One year ago, when i came out to talk to, benghazi had just happened. Ive come down to my hotel room. Hillary clinton and the president will welcome the families of the dead men that were killed in benghazi. They were saying to these families, our hearts go out to you. Were going to get to the bottom of this. We will find out who did this. Ladies and gentlemen, we now know they knew then you did it. To think that when Hillary Clinton goes around the country speaking she has to deal with hecklers in the audience . The way ted cruz does . Come to think of it, maybe we ought to start adopting some of their tactics. Unbelievable, unbelievable. Anyway, my friends, this is all part of the war that we are in. Rush limbaugh said the other day that he felt we were living in a dying country. I love rush, but i would disagree to a certain extent. I believe we are living in a country that is being killed. Not just dying. Whether it is our culture, our values, our faith, our history, all are under attack from the radical left. Day by day, stepbystep, i love rush, but i would america as we have known it is being pulled out by its roots from the rich soil, the nurturing earth of Judeo Christian civilization. The moral code of Judeo Christian civilization everywhere it has gone has brought decency and tolerance with it. It inspired our founders, it taught us that liberty comes from god. It protected the week. Because of judeochristian civilization the slaves were liberated. That civilization teaches wherever it is that all human beings, whether it is a new born with down syndrome were a 90 yearold sinking into dementia at all human beings regardless of the color of their skin has dignity and value and worth because they were made in the image of god. America as we have known it is [applause] but that civilization and what it teaches is hated. It is hated by the radical secular left and it is hated by the radical islamists. They disagree on everything. But they agree on this that judeochristian civilization and people like you must be destroyed if they are going to successfully remake america into something that we dont recognize. My friends, that is how important this battle is to this country and to your future. This country was founded by a brilliant man. I believe they had gods wisdom when they founded it. They built it because they wanted it to be a shining city on a hill. Today, this dear country, built a brilliant man, is governed by stupid men. Men without chests as cs lewis called similar men in his era. Think of the words that used to define the United States in our civilization. Words like decency, honor, virtue. These are not dusty verbal relics of a bygone age. How else can you explain last year leading into the president ial campaign the elevation to start them over Georgetown University coed by the name of sender fluke . You remember of sandra fluke . Ice on a sign of shame. She went before a Congressional Committee to argue that the sexual promiscuity practiced by her and her friends on Georgetown Universitys campus was so pronounced that she could not pay for her Birth Control pills or condoms for her partners and still have money left over for her textbooks or to be able to have three meals a day. Now, my friends, we can sigh about that, we can fret about it, we can shake our heads, but you know what . Sandra fluke became a factor in the election. It looked like an embarrassment, but she was used in the campaign to scare women between 18 and 30 that somehow if mitt romney was elected president , they would not have Birth Control pills. That same tactic is being used today in virginia against cochin alley in the gubernatorial campaign. It is so absurd, you dont even know what to say about it. The president of the United States last year it took the phone after sandra fluke testified to call her and tell her how proud he was of her. I still remember when president s made arsenal phone calls to astronauts when president s made personal phone calls to astronauts. I remember when president s used to call heroic policeman or soldiers or someone that had gone to the point of laying down or trying to put their own life on the line for somebody else heard now we live in an era where a president praises a promiscuous coed because she thinks you ought to buy her Birth Control pills. That, my friends is the definition of civilization in decline. [applause] now we have a new heroine. Anybody from texas . The new heroine coming out of texas, senator wendy davis, think about this for a second. Senator davis stopped business in the texas legislature. She filibustered with her now iconic pink sneakers on. And she is a heroine. Ted cruz filibustered on the floor of the senate against obamacare and he is a bomb. Not to us he isnt. [applause] absolutely. And what is and what did the senator filibuster about . Her cause on the floor of the legislature of texas was to insist that in every and any month of the pregnancy that the women of texas have the right to destroy unborn children heard there are a lot of people that consider themselves prolife and they will say in the first trimester i can understand maybe the baby isnt really viable or whatever. There are some splits about that. You ask the American People if they think you can be allowed to have an abortion in the seventh or eighth month of pregnancy and they will look at you in horror. That is what the senator wanted to guarantee would be the law in texas. Not only that, she wanted to make sure those abortions in the late months of pregnancy to place in dirty abortion clinics that did not have to follow normal health standards. This woman, i am told by the evening news every night, so it must be true, is the hope of the Texas Democratic party. They believe that she has got a good chance to be the next governor of texas. What in the world happened to the party of fdr, harry truman and jfk . The party that wanted to protect the little guy in america. The party that today abandons the littlest guy of all, to the up portion mists knife . To happen to that party . My friends, if texas in the wild imagination would like this woman, i can imagine it, but it tells us something. She is considered a heroine with her Bumper Sticker abortion for any reason in dirty clinics. Now there is a cause you can rally two. You know, not many months ago president obama went to a convention of abortionists, people who profit from the deaths of little babies. The president has spoken out about the dirty profits of the bankers, the dirty profits of the drug companies, the dirty profits of our energy industry, but he probably walked in to face an audience like this. Imagine a room, it was filled with at least as many people, people get up every morning and they only have one thing to do that day, destroy innocent human life. I am told the feeling in the room was electric. The president , getting this incredible response. This president that cannot find one abortion he would stop. Gazing into the eyes of thousands of abortionists who have never found the baby they were willing to save. Looking out into the crowd he said the one thing less a political figures come and speak to them. He said one thing to them they yearn to hear you looked into their eyes and said, keep it up and god bless you. God bless you. Think about this for a second. The people that he asked the god of Abraham Isaac and jacob to bless, those people have destroyed more black babies, have exploited more black women than the ku klux klan in their most racist dreams could have ever hoped to kill. The first man of color to occupy the office of the presidency goes to those people who locate their abortion clinics intentionally in minority and low income areas, praises them and asks god to bless their work. Asian gentlemen, he ought to be ashamed of himself. [applause] i listened to the wonderful remarks of my friend, Michele Bachmann. Man, im going to miss her in congress. Like her, this week, the last couple of weeks i focused a lot on what was happening to our vets here in washington dc i found myself thinking a lot about spike bauer, that was my dad. He was a janitor, never finished high school. He was no saint, my friends. Im not good to make him something that he wasnt. Get a tough life, he was an orphan, wrestled all his life with why his birth parents had abandoned him. He drank too much. He had what today is called an anger management problem. He did not earn the name spike by playing chess i want to tell you. Spike bauer could not quote many bible verses, but he loved god. He couldnt tell you all the statistics about why children need mothers and fathers, but he loved me and he loved my mom and even though we had a lot of hard times and dont remember there ever being a time when he didnt figure out a way to make enough money to keep food on the table and pay the mortgage. My dad was in the marines in world war ii. First Marine Corps Division in the south pacific. When i was growing up i didnt fully understand. It is to get him to talk about it and he never would until eventually award him down and one night we sat at the Kitchen Table and he told me unbelievable things that he saw and things that he had to do in service to his country. I found myself wishing i had never asked him. They haunted me for years. I couldnt imagine anybody having to go through that. These last two weeks it was men like spike bauer that were told they couldnt go to the memorial built in their honor. One of those on airplanes that landed out of Reagan National filled with guys like my dad was met by a bunch of reporters and they went up to these veterans and they said you know the memorial is closed, right . And you came all the way to washington to go to a close memorial . The one guy responded, when we got to the beaches of normandy they were closed, too. [applause] i couldnt help but think about the fact that the president of the United States dont be mistaken about this. If we dont accomplish anything in this lousy several weeks of this battle, make sure your neighbors understand that the reason that veterans couldnt visit their memorials is that the president of the United States ordered the office of management and budget to order the park service to make life miserable for any american using our parks, anybody who wanted to go to those memorials. The park police said it. We have been told to make life miserable, the one lady said. She probably is not working at the park service anymore. The president of the United States, on his orders, had the fence told around though wwii memorial. He will not hold a fence at the southern border to keep out illegal immigrants. Keep up our veterans. He will do that. [applause] my friends, if my father were alive today, i would not be here giving this speech. I would be down at the d. C. Jail putting of the bail to get him out of jail. How much more from this bitter cup do we have to drink . How much more . The Pew Research Poll showed a few months ago that the majority of the American People now believe that our liberty is in jeopardy. Not from not see is him. Not from communism or radical islam although i could certainly make that case. They think liberty is at risk from their own government. A lot of americans might be confused about the events of the last two weeks. On this they agree with us. They know government is too big. They know it more and more encroaches on our liberty. Darrell issa said we are entering a time of love my country but fear my government. My old boss, Ronald Reagan, once said to the chagrin of the leftist elite, we are a nation that has a government, not the other way around. In my travels around the country, i talked to a lot of people like you. I talked to lots of people in different walks of life. I am hearing this over and over again. There is a growing sense of unease, the feeling that we are over an abyss, that something terrible is going to happen. I was on a website not too long ago when a Young Catholic father went online to share a story. He had taken his sons to mass sons to mass that sunday. He was watching his boys kneeling and praying and suddenly a wave of nausea came across him. He realized if he continued to do what his parish priest told him to do, which was to raise up his children with godly values, to follow the scripture, if he continued to do that, he was probably preparing his sons for prison. Then he wrote this. I am not talking about troubled times ahead for my grandchildrens children and some possible children. I am talking about my kids. Persecution is close. Cardinal george in chicago wrote the following. I says i expect to die in bed. My successor will die in prison. I believe it is possible his successor will die a martyr in the Public Square are here in chicago. A bishop, a chicago of the Catholic Church said that. Some possible children. Our founders would not recognize the country. If they were in washington, it would be overwhelming to them the power that is vested into residency. They would marvel at how much our liberties are shrinking. This is a country that has so many scientific advances. We are searching for the smallest particle of matter that composes all things. I suspect we will find it. We can aim our telescopes at the furthest regions of the universe and pick up lights that are beyond our imagination. He cannot, as a nation, see anymore the creator that made those things. Today, the god that gave us our liberty is a smaller and smaller part of our national life. The one thing that is imperative as this Conference Goes on to the weekend and eventually you go home is that you not leave here full of despair. I am not full of despair. If 80yearold vets can stand up with this kind of to this kind of meanspiritedness that hovers us, are we going to stand up to it . There are times we have not wings we have not tried in this battle. Civil disobedience may have been may be necessary. If Middle America ever gets up one morning and says, this far and no further, you are not pushing me anymore, that day will be a new day in america, right . [applause] let me leave you with some words from Ronald Reagan in a speech delivered in florida best known for the fact that he called the soviet union the best known in the modern world. People came down on him. Evil . You cant say that. The president was speaking about communism. Apply his words today. Reagan said the following. I believe we shall rise to the challenge. I believe communism is another sad bizarre chapter in Human History whose last pages are even now being written. I believe this because the source of our strength and the quest for human freedom is not material, but is spiritual. It knows no limitation. It must ultimately triumph over those who would enslave their fellow man. For the words of isaiah, he gives power to the faint and to them who have no might, he increases the restraint that they wait upon the lord to renew their strength. He has told me all you know of you need to know about me, so i will see you later. The American Family association is on 190 stations. We do not have a person here in d. C. I represent afa at a lot of meetings. We have a journal. Not that long ago, the sclc decided we are a hate group. They sent a letter. This is what i want you to know today. This letter went out this week. This is a letter from the Southern Poverty Law Center and g. L. A. A. D. And every congressperson and they wrote to every congressperson slated to speak. They say, we understand you are slated to speak at the upcoming value voters summit. Given the demonizing lies spread by the host, we urge you not to land the prestige of your office to the summit. Every single congressperson and every senator you have heard have received this letter and a warning from these groups. They warned us that raines priebus, the rnc chairman and they said the party of lincoln they want to know where the party of lincoln stands on miller fine v vilifying the lgbt community. It is a dangerous time to be a Christian Conservative. They are running ads against randy forbes trying to disparage him for being part of the American Families Association Banquet today and for being here. There are threats being made. We all know that a little more than a year ago, a man came into the offices of the Family Research council because he had looked on the Southern Poverty Law Centers website and found hate groups and gone into the building with the idea he would commit mass murder with a bag of chickfila sandwiches they would stuff he was stuffed into their mouths. The Southern Poverty Law Center has refused to apologize or express regret and they have refused to remove the names of the Family Research council and the American Family association on their list from their list of hate groups. We know there are people on the left that our french groups. They do not have much influence and they are free to hate, even in this country. They may tell you something about why this is important. The Southern Poverty Law Center sounds great. It has always had a history of helping people in the Civil Rights Movement. They have had a good reputation. That is what people think they do. That is not really what they do. They were founded in 1971 by attorneys morris deeds and joseph levine, jr. They were selling cook books, door, and tractor seat cushions. Deeds became a top fundraiser for mcgovern and kennedy. Allegedly, the story goes, he was able to get the mailing list from these candidates to springboard the funding efforts of the organization, which were very successful. The Southern Poverty Law Center has millions of dollars in funding and endowments and lots of offshore accounts. The American Institute of philanthropy has given an f grade to the splc. They are out to destroy people like you. Hate is a cottage industry. Thats me give you an idea of some of the things they do. Have a hate map of 1018 groups. The statistics on crime, the hate crimes between 1996 and 2011 decreased by 29 . At the number of hate groups the splc rose by 60 . When Law Enforcement looked into this list, they found that many of these groups do not exist. They are not to be trusted. The reason i am spending so much time telling you about them is that they are used as a resource by the department of homeland security, the justice department, the federal bureau of investigation, the pentagon and thousands of local Law Enforcement agencies. They conduct trainings all over the country informing these groups of who the haters are. We are on that list. Last night, i received a photo in the mail. I will tell you what this is. This is a training for military men. It was a candid photo taken by soldiers. It shows a screenshot that they are doing this training in the military. It says, American Family association. Next to it is fred phelps. Fred phelps claims to be a pastor, but he is a absolute disgrace. He says god hates fags. Nothing to do with any of us here or any of the efforts of the frc. That is who they put in the photo under the American Family association. He goes to protest at funerals. It is interesting to me and if you are in the fbi and you lie about something, lets say you misreport your time card or misrepresent, you can be fired for that. The fbi is looking to the Southern Poverty Law Center, which is nothing but the verifications and lies. It is amazing to me and it is disgusting and disgraceful. At this point, the Southern Poverty Law Center, that wonderful Civil Rights Group who cares more about going after and discrediting and suing christians than they do about protecting the rights of africanamericans, has absolutely no remorse about what happened at frc. They refuse to apologize. They have no remorse whatsoever. They came after tony perkins. Tony has been valiant in his fight. They are trying to demonize him everywhere he goes. The president of afa made this statement about what the splc is doing. They have taken snippets of comments of American Family association personnel, distorted their meaning, and used these snippets to paint a false picture of afa. The American Family association does not hate anyone. We love everyone, including homosexuals, enough to tell them the truth about the moral and spiritual dangers of homosexual conduct. He goes on to talk about what made america great. We stand for errors and the family and Public Policy centered about we stand for marriage and the family and Public Policy centered on the family. It is a dangerous time to be a Christian Conservative. Homosexuality has arguably become the most dangerous issue to discuss publicly, to write about. There are Death Threats and unbelievable things happening when you stand up. I could spend a long time telling you about it, starting with anita bryant. People are scared to talk about this. There are lives at stake. I will tell you what i mean. I think that American Voters and american politicians are where americans were on the issue of abortion in the 19 80s. In 1973 when roe versus wade was passed, there were not that many people in favor of abortion. People were appalled. In the 1970s and 1980s, there was this all out how began the push. Walter cronkite lied about the number of socalled back alley abortions. He perpetuated that myth. They made it sound as if it was just a blob of tissue. I have been to prolife gatherings where someone strange would be in the room. I remember sitting next to a person like that. All of the National Media cameras came to that person and they were focused on that person. They did not capture any mom and dad in the room. No children. That was the face of the pro life movement. Why the 1980s, it was just anathema to be prolife for a politician. The Republican Party decided it needed a we tend. It needed a big tent. Christian conservatives continue to talk about what was true. Eventually, the facts caught up with what the reality was. With the advent of ultrasound and the debate over partial birth abortion and the whole business about the horrible abortion clinics, mines have been changed. Most of the republican congressman servant congressman congressmen serving our prolife. We are on homosexuality where we were on abortion in the 1980s. All we know is what we hear from television in the media and in hollywood. We see these glossy movies that are airbrushed. We see these decorating shows. Many of us have gay people in our families. To have a gay person in your family and to say you understand what is going on is like saying you have a cousin who is a doctor. We are fighting a barrage of top agenda. There is punishment if you speak out and say, i am not quite sure that is right. The justice department, a memo just went out to managers saying to them, you must not speak against homosexuality. Silence is not enough. You must affirm. You cannot talk about relationships in terms of man and wife. You have to talk about partner. When you are at the water cooler, be sure we are listening to your conversations. You think it is not a hard, difficult time to be a Christian Conservative at justice . I can tell you that it is. Our kids have grown up in an absolute ocean of propaganda on homosexuality. In the 1980s there was the rainbow curriculum that started in new york. There are all these projects to talk about hate. Our kids are the product of the propaganda talking taught in the public schools. When i read the republican autopsy report in which they suggested that we suggested in which they suggested we need to alter our viewpoint on this because our kids are not where we are and we are going to lose them if we are not quiet on this, i have more to say about that. Everybody knows about matthew shepard. Matthew shepard was murdered in a number of years ago. He was murdered prudently. There is no happiness about that. There is no happiness about hate. Do not misunderstand or misquote me. Were talking about the distortion of information. Matthew shepard was a young gay man who was brutally murdered by two other young men. The story was they murdered him because he was gay and he became a martyr for the gay movement. The hate crimes bill was passed with his name attached to it. Bill clinton jumped all over this. The New York Times ran with a story and told us all kinds of eggs about matthew shepard. They created a play called the Laramie Project that was shown, it still is, in high schools. Wait a second. It was not true. It wasnt true. We know now that a book came out last week written by a gay author. Either way, this book was featured in the advocate, which is arguably the nations most influential gay publication. Now we know the story was a complete fraud. Matthew shepard was gay. Matthew shepard was murdered by these two boys. It was a drug deal gone bad. According to this author and the Police Records show some of this, but you never heard about this, not in the media. Matthew shepard cheated them on a drug deal, at least they thought he had. They actually had sex with him. They were not upset that he was gay. They also were either gay or bisexual. This is part of the story. The fairy tale was spun around the tragic life of matthew shepard. It was lies, all lies. Does that remind you of any other story that was spun over any other issue . Roe versus wade. I will not go into it. The story that was the foundation of the laws that made abortion legal for all nine months were lies, prevarications. We have the same thing in the story of matthew shepard. I will tell you what else americans do not know about. I was debating this on television a lot. The one thing i would debate that was almost like you remember the old movies with dracula. If you ever want to get into a heated debate about sexuality homosexuality, you talk about the health risk. It does not take too long to find information that is extremely troubling. The cdc just published information to say that 94 95 of new hiv cases among boys and young men are linked to homosexual sex. 94 95 of hiv cases. The cdc also also goes on to explore the boys that the things that boys do that are health risks. People are not allowed to know about this. The other thing we do not know about is the fact that there is an exgay movement. Did you know that september was exgay Awareness Month . They are everywhere. The reason you do not hear about them is because they are maligned and threatened. I remember when Stephen Bennett was speaking for us. We wanted him to be on bill oreilly. Stephen was trying to tell his story about how he had come out and he was married and had children. Bill would not let him talk. I cannot think of an exgay gay person i have seen on television. Have you . There are tons of exgays with fabulous stories and the American People do not even know about that. If we tell the truth about this, we are haters. The people that live, those are the ones that love. I am kind of optimistic in this regard. It is hard to find optimism in all of this. One of the things that compels me and always has, i do not think you can really care about people and not tell them the truth. Why would we promote homosexuality so early and not be able to speak about it so thoroughly and not be able to speak about it in schools and not know that it puts these lives at risk . Because we want to stop that, we are the ones who hate. Good is called evil and evil is called good. We are living in an upside down world. It is a dangerous time to be a Christian Conservative. When americans catch up with the fact on the human and financial cost, they will change their mind about this. They just do not know. I say politicians dont know either. When i was living earlier, my first iteration in d. C. And president of thecwa the cwa, a young woman who was a filmmaker asked if she could spend some time with me. She was not a conservative. She spent time with the gay community. She thought i was an oddity. We did the interview and when it was over she said, i want to talk to you. I have always been a defender of the gay community. I care about them. They are my friends. I am seeing so much death and heart ache and disease and sadness in this community that i can hardly bear it. I do not know what to think about it anymore. These are the stories you are not hearing. That means just say to the splc, two Republican Leaders who feel this subject is just too icky. Maybe you are uncertain yourself because you have been so awash in the propaganda of the public. We cannot appease and when voters win voters. [applause] we cannot change the truth to please our children. Since when do we look to our children for our moral compass . I do not understand this except to say the parents of the 1960s and 1970s were so lost and confused about what they actually believed that they are illequipped to teach their children what is true about sexuality. So we have a generation, we have politicians telling us we should listen to our children. If we love them, we should teach them and lead them. We cannot change the truth to please our children. [applause] we cannot change the truth to stop the criticisms or the attacks from the splc or any of the other groups on this letter. He cannot deny the truth to protect ourselves from financial threats. Can we say irs . Can we talk about all of the things happening in media and the way people are being destroyed . Millions of gay men and lesbians are caught in a powerful web of deceit. Gay men and women love each other. What happens is, because the love is misplaced, they find themselves in a series of heartbreaking situations. Have you ever had your heart broken in a romantic relationship . In the homosexual life, especially with men, there is so much heartbreak and ejection. You think youth is there is so much heartbreak and rejection. We cant be silent because we care about those people. Breaking hearts and costing lives. We will continue to offer homosexual men and hope of redemption and life change, which Christian Conservatives know all about. We do not say what we say because we are somehow morally superior. We say this because many of us have had our lives powerfully transformed by the power of jesus christ and we cannot be silent about that. I am excited in the role that i have as ceo of echolight studios to bring quality entertainment in a very dark world of movies in America Today. Think about this. It is a Christmas Movie. It is a movie about the miracle that happens at christmas, not the miracle candle, yes a miracle candle, but what that miracle candle stands for. The real true miracle of christmas. Think of any movie in the last 40 years that was a Christmas Movie that came to the hitters that had came to the hitters t heaters theaters that had anything to do with the birth of jesus. The answer is there isnt any. Think about that. Christmas after christmas im a hollywood gives us fare that has nothing over christmas after Christmas Hollywood gives us fare that has nothing to do with christmas. The polls say, the country is moving this way. Aristotle said, give me the storytellers and i will control the country in a generation. The storytellers in America Today are telling you a very different story than what was told by your great grandparents and generations before, who used to be the storytellers in america. Now the storyteller is that screen, those screens that try to move very subtly, that try to shift your point of view and throw in cotuit is this an gratuitous that. Why did throw in gratuitous this and gratuitous that. They slip those Little Things and to move the American Public in your direction. Ladies and gentlemen, we have to start being storytellers, too. We have to understand where the American Public is today and what we need to do as believers an american first principles, as believers in the american ethic. We have to do a better job in telling our story. There is a lot of talk in washington, d. C. You probably heard it when you came here about how conservatives and republicans have to walk away from certain issues if we want to be successful. We have to change on some of these issues because the polls suggest they are not popular anymore. I do not know about you, but as a leader, i am not here to follow the polls. I am here to shape the polls. [applause] how do we shape the polls . Obviously, i have gotten involved with echolight studios and the movies. This movie comes out and there will be a sneak peek that will be available tonight at 7 00 if anyone comes to see it. That is just one front. People say, are you getting out of politics . Why is a politician involved in hollywood . If liberal actors and producers can get involved in politics, conservative politicians can get involved in hollywood and so can you. [applause] we are looking for folks to be theodore cap just to t heater theater captives and bring that movie to theaters at christmas time. It is not enough to do the popular culture. We have to do a better job in politics. Whether we like it or not, our children and increasingly us are getting our information through these screens. How do they get that information . How do they get us to change our moral code, to erode what we have been taught . Through stories. Some people say, you are dumbing down. Youre not standing up there and giving them the cold, hard facts. 83 of the bible is stories. Did jesus back away from the truth by telling the story. No, but he communicated to people much more effectively. How many talking points or statistics do you remember from the last heritage paper you read . How many lies can you remember from that last movie you saw . Stories stake into our minds and that is how younger americans learn. If you were to turn on cspan 2 i was on fox doing a show and i happen to be watching cspan 2. One of the republican senators was up there and right next to him was a pie chart. Right after that was a line graph. I guarantee you, if you waited for the others to have their chance to speak, they would have charged up, too. It would be pictures and they would be telling stories. We try to tell people why we are right. They tell people they understand, they relate, they care. You say, that is softening it. It is not. It is meeting people where they are. That is what we have to do. We have to be better at meeting people where they are and telling stories so that people can understand that what we believe in is true and right. We are at a critical time in amerco his american history. It is absolutely true. What is going on in washington, d. C. Right now. People say it is just partisan squabbling. All washed. It is about the role of government in our lives. [applause] i always try to go back and say, what is this really about . I talked about this during my campaign in 2012, the one where everybody says, all he did was talk about social issues. I talked about founding principles. That is what got in peoples ears. I talked about the founding principles on which america is based. It is different from any country in the world. What makes america different . What makes america different . My grandfather came to this country. He could have gone to france and spent 50 years in france. After 50 years, would he have been a french man . No. He came to america and he wanted to accept what america stood for and he became an american. America is not a race. It is a set of ideals and values. When president obama gets up and says he wants to transform america, understand what he means. He means he wants to take the very founding principles of our country, found in the declaration and the constitution, and he wants to transform them into something different. What we dont do is explain to the American Public what that is. What makes america different . A lot of Tea Party Folks are standing up and i am glad they did, to introduce the constitution to the American Public. That is a great thing. The constitution without the declaration can be a very dangerous document. Lots of folks have copied our constitution. Nobody has copied our declaration. We are the only country in the history of the world that says we hold these truths to be self evident and all men are endowed by this right. In america, we believe our rights come from god and not from the government. [applause] we are descendents of the American Revolution but there are people in America Today you do not want to be those descendents anymore. They see that line of ancestry as corrupt, bigoted, racist. Go on down the list of the indictments against america. They see a very different revolution that occurred at roughly the same time as the American Revolution. That was the french revolution. The french revolution was based on equality, liberty, and fraternity, not paternity. They were based on rights coming from the people, your brothers, not from god. It was an anticlerical, anti god revolution. They killed clergy and establish a secular government that turned into mob rules and an emperor that institutionalized the french revolutionary secular rule in europe. That is who they want us to be. You see it in the things they do even now. They are subtle, they are little. They do not hit on most peoples radar screens. Look at obamacare. You can say, all they are trying to do is provide cost a section to people who should have access to them. Oh, really . Is that all they are trying to do . Lets take them at their word. What would be the easiest way to make sure that everybody who wants those pills could have them for free and have complete access to them . Give them away. Give them away at pharmacies. Give them away at supermarkets. Give them away and vending machines. If you want them to be ubiquitous, pay for them and give them away. That is not what they did. What they did was, say to each and every one of you, we will make you do what we tell you to do. They will force you to use your money. They do not subscribe to the concept of freedom of religion. So word they use more often now, freedom of worship. To the untrained eye freedom of worship and freedom of religion sound like the same tank, but they are not. If you want to go to your church, look at the obamacare mandates. Once you walk out of the church, even if it is next door to a ministry, you are mine. You will do what the state tells you to do, not what your conscience does. This is a descendent of the french revolution. This is the america they want to transform us to. Go look at europe, which is dying. One out of four west European Children women have children. Every generation, europe is cut in half. For every two people, they are having one child. This is the future they see because declining population is a good thing. We are not harming mother earth. Dont try to tell me they do not have a religion. It is not the religion most americans believe in. Everybody has a religion. That is why they are trying to silence you. The secular religion is ok, but yours is not. Ladies and gentlemen, i am here at the value voters because ultimately, the issues are what you are here to defend and to make sure they are heard on capitol hill. The foundation of this country is the dignity of every human life because they are the creation of a loving god. When we lose that, it is open season on all of us. The government can do whatever it wants. I tell all of these economic conservatives, you guys are not thinking through this very clearly. You are not thinking through the consequences of throwing overboard all of these unpopular social issues. Youre not thinking through the consequences of the breakdown of the family and the tremendous increase of Government Spending that comes in every neighborhood where the family is broken. Government cannot be limited if families are disintegrating. I am here to say thank you. Thank you for being here and standing for the core values of our country, for the declaration of independence, for the vision that our founders had of Strong Communities based on Strong Families and limited government. Why . Because we did not need big government. Government gets bigger as rains around us start to crumble and we look for government to help. I am not suggesting barack obama wants to see the economy continued to falter. His role model as president was Franklin Delano roosevelt. Roosevelt kept getting reelected in the midst of the depression. In his second term, unemployment went up 25 . He kept getting elected. Why . Because people were afraid. And things get unstable, people are afraid. He came out and said, you can trust the government to provide that support for you. Ladies and gentlemen, we are engaged in a battle for the heart and soul of america. We need to be better and smarter about how we communicate our message. Do not back away one inch from what we believe in, not one inch because what we are doing is standing up for the values that made this country the greatest country in the history of the world. There is nothing to be ashamed of . Why cant we go out and produce great art, tell stories and communicate with people . Why are we always on the defense . Look at us in the popular culture. Conservatives, all we do is curse the darkness and try to protect our families from all of the bad stuff thrown out there. Why are we doing that . We have the truth. Why are we playing defense . [applause] i do not want to hear anybody here apologize for standing up for the truth. Apologize for standing up for the dignity of life, the sanctity of marriage, the centrality of the family. The problem we have had is that we have nominated far too many candidates who say they believe those things but, they do not really talk about them, do that . I went to a breakfast in new york when i was thinking of running for president , something that comes to mind every now and then, even today. [applause] wealthy people in new york, the big dogs. They asked me question after question. They already interviewed. Veryone else they started asking me all these questions about abortion, marriage, all of these things we will leave this row graham at this point.
