One have his homes. The Washington Post said it occurred on july 26 at his home in alexandria, virginia. He is involved in a couple of investigations, including russian interference in the 2016 election. Donald isndowski says the greatest political phenomenon of our lifetime. He addressed the city club of cleveland about Donald TrumpsFirst Six Months in office and whats ahead. He addressed questions from the audience. This is about an hour. I should take a home. I could use it. Good afternoon. I am strong supporter and prior speaker here at the city club. It is my pleasure to introduce to corey lewandowski. Corey is a friend and someone who is in a unique position to offer perspective on President Trumps for six month in office. But first, he does not work for the administration, said his comments are his and may not reflect the opinion or position of the president or whose administration. Im still very pleased he could join us here today. Corey served as the chief political advisor for the and Campaign Manager of Donald Trumps 2016 president ial campaign. Includeits orchestrating trumps unlikely rise. Won 38 republican primaries and caucuses and received more votes than any other president ial candidate in the history of the Republican Party file only spending a fraction of the money that the other competitors spent over the same period of time. Mr. Lewandowski is credited with running a skillful campaign and is cited as a visionary on understanding the moods and pulse of the American People. He previously served as the National Director of Voter Registration of americans for prosperity and a americans for spirited foundation. He also is a former east coast regional director for both organizations and served as a state director for New Hampshire , starting the chapters for those groups in 2008. Esther lewandowski also worked as director for the northeast region for the Republican National committee as well as senior positions with several members of congress. He received his ma in Political Science from the university in d. C. Gton, please join me in welcoming corey are lewandowski. [applause] i want to First Express how grateful i am for the privilege to come here and speak with you they, and understanding history of this Amazing Organization is important to me. Left out isgressman that i am a bit of an ohio native in the sense that i was a chief of staff for an ohio candidate. I would that was a that ranonal district north and south along 77. I know ohio well. I understood the importance of the city club in the suit came before me. I dont read and or purport to be of the caliber of people who spoke before you. I want to thank you for the opportunity to be here. Think donald trump is the greatest political phenomenon of our lifetime. [applause] for everything that he has attempted to achieve, he has been successful. In the newhas been York Real Estate world, whether it has been on television with hit television shows, whether it has been as a bestselling author, and now they greatest compliment of anyones life, being elected the leader of the free world. I want to take you back to the beginning of the campaign. In january 2015, long before anybody ever thought donald trump was truly going to run for office, i was asked to meet then mr. Trump on the 26th floor of trump tower to speak to him about running a potential campaign for president. Trumpany of you, donald told us that he would foot was running and nobody believed he would run until i had the privilege of sitting down with mr. Trump in january 2015. When i sat down with him, i saw the resolve of an individual who didnt need to be the president to have a great lifestyle and didnt need the job after he was a president to make a lot of money. And he said to me, you know, corey, im going to have a great life. I have all the money i ever need it i have a great air force of my own. I have airplanes, helicopters, homes all over the world. I dont need to do this so that my children will be ok or my grandchildren read we are going to do just fine. I need to do it because a country is broken and i think i can fix it. , 25 unique experience minutes later, had me stand up from my chair in trump tower on the 26th floor and he shook my hand and said you start working for me tomorrow. You are now my Campaign Manager. Truth be told, i did not tell my wife that i was like to new york to look for a new job. It was a little bit troubling when i called her after that meeting. But like many of you, i thought, you know what, working for donald trump for a brief stint as a political advisor would not be bad for my career. I would be able to parlay this into something else. Was working for the family of the kochs. Stable, safe, secure job that allowed me to stay home with my children, which i have four of i sign donald trump a man who was willing to put his own fortune forward, to take an enormous amount of scrutiny from the Mainstream Media to do so, for somebody who did not need the job and wanted to do it. Back in january and fastforward potentially the greatest republican field of all established. When you look at the individuals were going to run for president , we had the son and brother of a former resident. We had former president hurray and had wellknown governors of big states. We had executives who had been in the business world. We had sitting senators whose fathers had run for president in the past. Individuals who had run and won already in specific binary races. Im thinking of places like iowa with Mike Huckabee and those individuals. And we get into a race. Where most people say we shouldnt go to iowa and cant compete there because third trump is now on his marriage in the previous iteration was a democrat and turned out to be a rubber covered a republican. The American People were tired of a broken washington, d. C. A system where republicans and democrats alike have lied to us for three years, where we were sitting on 30 trillion of debt, where there is no accountability on either side, where members of congress and the u. S. Senate will say and do things in their respective states and then go back to washington and do something completely different. For the first time in my lifetime, we had a candidate who was running who doesnt need money to run his campaign. We didnt solicit any money. Has it been beholden to the Washington Special interest or washington dogma of the way things are always good to do it. And someone who is going to bring a business perspective to the federal government. And that message, which was liberating to many people and troubling to others, was from the heart. Its the same message if you look back at donald trump since the mid1990s and even before today show interview in 1989 when he talks about the u. S. Not negotiating well and having our lunch eaten by other countries who are taking advantage of us, if you listen to his talkback than where he proposed at the time wealthy 1 ers should pay a large sum of their taxes and he was going to write that check because of understanding the burden of a massive deficit on our economy was incomprehensible to Business Executives to meet a payroll every day. But let me tell you what we were up against. We were not just up again 16 wellqualified republican candidates who were wellfunded and had all the resources they had in front of them. The me tell you what some of the media was like. His, the cnn on commentator, call donald trump the george stands at the of thecostanza president ial election. One called him a pathological liar know nothing he would never run. George will actually quit the Republican Party over donald trump. George w. Bushs speechwriter that trump so unpalatable he defended torture as opposed to defending donald trump. This is just some of the Mainstream Media. And what we saw in the Trump Campaign was an individual who was willing to fight back against the media. The statistic that the Media ResearchCenter Following the election was a 97 percent of the voters said they did not let the media bias influence their vote. Think about that. Ago, and that long many people in this room would remember it, when we received our news from three individuals at 6 30 at night. They did not try to make the news. They simply reported the news factually. He didnt know if walter kwok cronkite was a republican or a democrat or it an independent or an independent. Nats a matter of clicks and getting your story out and becoming the news. This was evident yesterday when Stephen Miller had a press Conference Get into an exchange with a cnn commentator, a cnn journalist, i guess, jim acosta. This has permeated the election cycle. Guy, a he is a very fine report from time magazine, zeke miller. The day that the president was sworn in, he went into the oval opus oval office. He was a pool reporter. He took a picture inside the oval office and said that she tweeted it out instantly and said the bust of Martin Luther king jr. Was removed from the white house. He intimated that donald trump was a racist by removing that. Do you know where the bust of Martin Luther king jr. Was that day . The exact same spot that barack obama had it. At the fact is there was secret Service Agent standing in front of it. The white house for comment on why it was removed. He simply tweeted it out. 6000 additional stories in the Mainstream Media. When sean spicer zika miller and said, zeke, you are welcome to come back into the oval. It is in the exact same spot. It hasnt been moved. He put out a tweet and said, groups oops, made a mistake. This is what the Mainstream Media has done him they need to be the news, make the news. They are so concerned with driving the narrative that gets them the most clicks that they have stopped being journalists. At the end of President Trumps first hundred days, instead he was done. The three major broadcast abc, cbs and that nbc, from january 2010 april 9 had a thousand stories focused on Donald Trumps new administration. Of airtime00 minutes were dedicated to the first hundred days. Of those, 186 minutes were designated as neutral or positive. Means 89 ofwhich the coverage of donald trump in the first 100 days was designated by an independent analysis as being negative. And what that has done is social Donald Trumps media count and his ability to communicate directly, and effectively and authentically with the light that the American People are now used to. I have seen and heard it. Can you get donald trump to stop tweeting . His social media platform has 110 Million People. A button, he can communicate and bypass the Mainstream Media. He has 37 million twitter followers. Always says [indiscernible] only its much bigger. Some people say, its not residential for him to tweet. Is the president. So let me tell you how works. If he sneezes, it is a president ial sneeze. He has revolutionized the way politicians and elected officials will communicate moving forward. I saw this every time we went to a rally somewhere. It didnt matter if we were in mobile, alabama with 35,000 people or we were in the state of New Hampshire with a thousand people. People would tune into donald trump to listen to what he had because, for the totality of the primary, that entire season, 38 primary wins, he didnt use a teleprompter. You take out a piece of paper. He would have some black writing on it. He might make a different note or two, and he would stand up for an hour. And the media was fascinated by this. And the impact of people were fascinated. Because it was a bit like going to a sporting event. You go watch the indians and you know whats going to happen. When the red sox play, they win. Im just saying . Im a sox fan, what can i say . But you go to the game because you dont know what the outcome is going to be. Because it is a sporting event. It is so my consuming. You want to say i was at that event when the pitcher pitched a nohitter. I remember that rally when donald trump did x, y, z. When we were in South Carolina on decommissioned warship, probably remember who was there when he proposed a ban on illegals coming into the country, and immigration ban. Every person was there will have a different story about being at that event. Understand the campaign, you have to understand donald trump. I will talk about his achievements. He is the single hardest working individual i have ever had the privilege of being next to. Hillaryblank outworked clinton. Thehe time i was on campaign coming in 18 months, we flew 1700 hrs on an airplane in 18 months. 1700 hrs, it was a nice plane. [laughter] its a very nice plane. 757, a big boeing beautiful, trump kforce one. Trump force one. Two pilots flying around the country. Thats about 70 days in 18 months. The president is predictable and i can count on my hand how many times we sat down to eat. Job of the deputy Campaign Manager. Get the timing exactly right to stop at the mcdonalds etofish ando fil at the planee that at the exact same time so the president could eat as we are flying to the last event. That was our life. We ate mcdonalds six days a week. If we were really lucky, he would say, you know what, maybe we will do burger king today. That was it. He did not want to waste his time doing something when he could be doing the next thing. Time was too valuable for us. Going to make America Great again, its a fulltime job. We dont have time to sit and eat, corey. The Campaign Manager had a stressful job. If he was too early in the food was called, it was a bad day. If he was too late, we left him behind. It is a very stressful environment when you have to deliver the food. We knew other candidates in the race would call me and say, do me a favor, im a good man, please dont let the present treat about me tweet about me. He is the greatest marketer the country has ever seen. He has the ability to talk about somebody and it sticks with them. Does anybody remember what ted cruzs nickname was . Or marco rubio . Or hillary . Or the failing New York Times . Fake news . These are all statements that the president and at that time candidate trump would articulate rallies. We would get calls all the time and save please dont let the president tweet about me. We flew a helicopter from new york to iowa for the iowa state fair. We landed the big plane in des moines. We took a helicopter to the state fair. We do a spin around the state fair and there are thousands of people and he goes to land and there are all these kids and candidate trump turns to me and says hay, corey, lets take some kids for a spin. This is not a good idea. It will be the end of the campaign. The end of the campaign had come 50 times by then. No, i want to do this. It is very important. This little boy comes up if you are over the age of 12, you can go on the ride. She gets on and candidate trump has a great make America Great again hat. Its a gorgeous helicopter. He is seated across from the didate and this little boy it is a surreal environment he gets on the helicopter and the little boy turns to candidate trump and says are you batman . [laughter] a beat, donald trump says, yes, i am. And with that, the helicopter iss up and the press enamored once again that donald trump has driven the media crazy again. We had zero budget in the primary. We did not have a directmail operation. We did not have phone vendors we had phone vendors who tried to solicit our business. I said no. I told the president i will spend your money like it is my own. The phone vendor said i would me. You to hire i am the biggest phone vendor in the country. I will do all your phones. I need when he 5,000 a month plus what i do for phones. Haired i said, i know who you are. Let me make a counter proposal. I will pay you 500 a month and you can sit in the back with the interns and answer the phones. If you do a good job with that come i will move you up to the mail shot. Maybe i will move you to the front desk and we may get you to a thousand dollars a month. He said, you dont understand. Im a vendor. I dont come here every day. You have to pay me. I said, see, this is the difference. If you are not willing to come day, we work 20 hours a dont want you. We did not have any vendors for the campaign. We did it all ourselves. Politicaly years, the class made a lot of money off of losing campaigns with no accountability. The establishment guys, they are my friends. I dont make any money on those guys because they are all bad guys come honestly. They say guys, honestly. We ran it completely differently. Iowa and win florida, wisconsin, michigan, pennsylvania, and the great state of ohio. If you watch the news coverage, donald trump has to run an inside straight. Impossible. No chance. He will do it. , the New York Times on their homepage had this barometer. The odds of donald trump winning where this number came from, i dont know the odds of donald trump winning on election day,. 001 . 30 year toke, maybe 22 , something. No,. 001 . Came in, theumbers barometer began to move. It finally got to 99 certainty, after hillary called and conceded, that we did not make it to an hundred percent, which is amazing. That is the media. But everybody many, many never, i would say, believed he would run come never believed he was serious, and never believed this would be a real campaign. I put a chip on my shoulder in a good way. They said, you can get on the ballot. You guys are so dumb, you dont even know how to get on the ballot. You will never file your Financial Disclosure statement because trump will never disclose how really richie is. Really rich he is. Trump forces people to be the best. And if you are not, you dont get to stay. I have seen it firsthand. He is a driver. He is so allconsuming, forces people to do things that, in a good way, you did not know you can accomplish. We ran a president ial campaign with five people. You want to talk about a meritocracy, heres my fundraising meeting. Hay, mr. Trump, here is my budget for the month. Its about 3 million. That was it. He put his initial on the is a paper and we funded iran campaign. It shut funded our own campaign. It shut out donors and made them come back afterwards and eat crow. He is a more gracious man than i am. There are a lot of guys who came to us and said, you know, i was there on day one. I was there on day one. I literally turned on the lights in the building. But the president is so grati so gracious, even his adversaries he has brought into the cabinet, rewarded people who were very aggressive against him in some cases. The best example is when rick perry made a tough speech against candidate trump, sat with mitt romney and seriously considered him for the secretary looked atosition, has many individuals who spent a lot of money against him and for his opponents and has brought them in because he is a person who wants to get things done. And washington is fundamentally changing. Some of the things the president has already done he has withdrawn from the tpp. He said he was going to do that. He has done it. Hundreds ofnated government regulations. As a matter of fact, the mac and taxpayers have saved more than 86 billion in regulatory costs from the deletion of government burdensome regulations since trump has come into office. He has decided to lift restrictions on the production of 50 trillion in energy reserves. He has talked about and done lifting the roadblocks in the dakota keystone pipelines. Water money into americas water infrastructure. He supported a Supreme Court justice that is eminently qualified to be on the bench and will be a longterm successful impact with judge neil gorsuch. He has canceled funding to sanctuary cities. He has begun by removing 2 million criminal illegal aliens who have overstayed their visas and are here illegally. He is trying to, pledged to repeal a new place obamacare. That is not done yet. He has pledged to provide the largest tax cut in american history. He has pledged to invest a trillion dollars in infrastructure spending. And he has pledged to build a wall. Now what i have said is that elected officials need to be held accountable. The president is my friend. But if he doesnt fulfill those promises, if he doesnt follow through on the things he told the American People he will do, the accountability is at the ballot box and three and half years. I think the American People are very smart. I think they have sent someone to washington to make a fundamental and wholesale change because they are sick of the way the system is. But if he doesnt implement that change and he needs help in congress and congress they are a tough partner paired you would think they would have been ready on day one with a repeal for obamacare. You would think they would be ready on day one with a tax cut package. And by the way, lets take every Sub S Corporation on the planet housed in the u. S. And lower to 15 ax rate from 35 so we could have more money to stimulate the economy. Congress has not done any of these things. And that is a problem. From whatrst time, ive seen, since 2009, the right track wrong track survey, which posters ask if you think that the countries moving in the right direction on the wrong direction, we have seen the stock market with an enormous amount of value. But there is one final thing. Ronald reagan said freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didnt pass it toward children in the bloodstream. It must be far for, protected and handed on to do the same. That is what we are up against, the freedom of our great country. I believe we both we live in the grids country in the world and i think it is an amazing privilege to be a citizen of this great country. And i would be happy to talk to the immigration issue, which the white house unveiled yesterday. But i do think this. Are pro donald trump or antidonald trump, probarack obama or antibarack obama, i dont care. You know why . Because i want what is best for our country. It is eager than any one person. If we dont do things to take it is a good than any one person. If we dont do things to take care of our country make sure American Workers have their opportunities against the global marketplace, for countries who do not want to see us be successful, we will do so at our own demise. I hope the president brings with him the business acumen that he had running the Trump Organization to the white house. We have seen a few examples of that. We the we have the boeing example with air force one and he has been forthright in understanding the price that something costs. Let me close with less with this less story. I decided to start a Small Business. As you all know, as business individuals, you have an employment Identification Number so you can open a bank account. My partners estimate, corey, can you take care this . An end it says the website is down for maintenance. Please call this phone number. , 43 minutes later, mrs. Robinson answers the phone and says i would like to get an employee Identification Number. She says you have to fill out the form and faxed it to me. I said what . I live in windham, New Hampshire. I dont know anyone who has effects machine. Do you have this new thing called email . No, sir, we dont have email. The irs. Give me a break. Ill drive 11 miles to the next town over. Ill find a kinkos that may or may not be open, fill out the form and faxed it to you. How long will it be for you to give me the number i need to start my business . She says seven to 10 business days. What . I hung up the phone. I called the president elect. I said sir, you are not going to believe this. The government is closed for business. What do you mean . If my experience is equivalent to anybody elses experience in that period of time, not one Small Business was opened in the entire period between december 23 and generate third. We need and january 3. We need to do a better job. He said, corey, we will bring a business mindset of the government. We are going to fix this. I tell you that because i firmly believe that is his intention. I will stop and i would be happy to take some questions. [applause] we are about to begin the audience q a and we welcome questions from everyone. A you would like to tweak question, please tweet it cit yclub. Your questions should be brief and to the point. May we have our first question, please . Thank you for coming today and sharing your experiences. They have been fascinating. Last night, i was listening to a radio broadcast, and they played clips from president clinton, president obama, harry reid, and President Trump. Stated the same security concerns about immigration. They all stated the same economic importance of immigration. President trump has been excoriated for saying the same thing his predecessors have. How is it possible that people and youch positions talked about the American Public do they have such a short memory that trump is saying the same thing his predecessors did but there was no backlash for them and there is for him . You raise a very good question. Point, i wantthat to take you back to an executive order that President Trump issued, that a District Court judge put a stay on. That particular executive order on banning individuals from coming into our country was the president , of the the same executive order that barack obama used, that your w bush used, that George H W Bush used, continues come all the way to world war ii. It was never a challenge to the executive authority under the particular statute until donald trump implemented it. When you look at what the Supreme Court the highest court in our land, in a 90 decision 90 never happens. Robertser ginsburg and dont agree on many things. But they agree that the president has a Legal Authority executive order and overrule all other judges. To your exact point, the narrative that donald trump is doing that is so egregious and so antiamerican is one that the Mainstream Media loves to say. Because barack obama actually fromted more individuals our country that has ever been deported so far under President Trump. Best that with the media wants to report. The media does not want to report that this is the same rational policy that harry reid supports come immigration reform, that everybody says has to occur. Nobody wants to talk about that because its much easier, with all due respect to harry reid, to go after donald trump, because thats what drives media ratings. And hes very good at ratings come in case you havent noticed. Thats why media covers in that way. Thats why, unfortunately, how they become profitable. Time. This all the i think the American People are exceptionally smart and they look past that and they will hold people accountable at the ballot box, both in congress, in the senate, and ultimately the presidency if they dont follow through on what their commitments are. What the president outlined and what Stephen Miller outlined immigration, is green card reform and it is a pointbased system, one similar to that in canada and australia. And heres how people get points. Do they speaking wish . Reasonable request. Not everybody in this room is an immigrant of some nature. They get a point for that. What is their level of them for of education . You get a point for that. Has the person has ever received an award based on their expertise in their respective field . They get a point for that. Is the person an entrepreneur . Will they create jobs here . You get a point for that. The system is designed to bring the best and the brightest. What we have seen as a failed immigration system, which not only brings amazing students to our universities, but then forces them to go back. You finish first in your class at harvard or stafford or yale and you are an immigrant, thank you for your four years. You are now going back to your country. You cant stay here. What are you talking about . What world are you in . What are we doing . We want the best here. We want the most aggressive. We want the opportunity, the melting pot we have always been. We need a proimmigration one. Y, not a propoverty what the president outlined yesterday was the opportunity to come here, the greatest country in the world come and have the highest privilege we canvassed oh, should be designated to the people who have the best opportunity to make our country great. Right now, we bring in about a Million People a year under this program. That is the equivalent of the population of san francisco, every year. Its larger than the state of montana. Ohiof the people in support cutting immigration down to 500,000 or lower a year. Supporting capping refugees into the country to 50,000 a year olds at 61 in the state of ohio. These numbers came out yesterday. Support [indiscernible] there is a problem. There is a problem right now that this legislation is potentially going to try to solve. Is it perfect . Of course not. But the media does not want to cover in the same way that the president has proposed, which falls in line that many other democrats have proposed in the past, because it is not an exciting story. Thank you for coming. I preface my question by saying that i am a lifelong republican, so this is not a partisan question. I am concerned. I see an organization and a white house totally disorganized. What happened to the last couple of weeks is a most bizarre. I see no major piece of legislation having passed and he blames congress for that. Communications. Eyes see a glaring lack of civility coming out of this administration in seven months. Who goes and tells Police Officers to be more aggressive interesting. Speaking at the boy scout jamboree, my grandson was there. An administration in trouble. As an american citizen, i am concerned. Why should i not be so troubled . [applause] thats a very good question. Your concern is well warranted. And it is not isolated by any means. Imwarranted. Im concerned about the fact that those president ial appointments, of those, almost all of them continue to remain vacant. I concerned that the administration has allowed individuals in the administration that fundamentally disagree. The administration has not moved fast enough theory that is a failure of this administration. The administration did not do enough homework when it came to doing getting legislation done. Lindsey graham said to me, i want to help get health care done. If we can do that, we can get this bill done. Lets put the money back in control of the governors. I said that sounds like an amazing idea. Why havent we done this already . No signaturen piece of legislation through the congress. , think if you look at the dow 29 records, including this week. Foxconn announced a 10 billion investment. Gdp more than doubling the first quarter. Economic indicators are good. Im concerned about the fact that we are getting closer to , members ofle and congress are afraid for their own reelection campaigns. They dont want to take the tough votes. They want to kick that can down the road until after they are reelected again, because they dont want to respond to a total piece of legislation. Premiums are through the roof in some places. Up over 100 in places like arizona. Small businesses are being killed. I am very concerned that we have not then not been aggressive enough putting the right people in place throughout the bureaucracy. Is the senate accountable . Yes. Did the president get enough credit for getting neil gorsuch through the Supreme Court . No, he did not. For a hostagedit crisis in egypt . I think the change with general kelly coming in, a buttoned up general is exactly what the white house needs. You have put a person and place it is a leader of men and women, who has been to the battlefield, the leader of the southern command, who by all accounts will tell you he knows what he is doing. What you need is not chaos in the white house. What you need is consistency. You need the president focused on the big picture, and implementing his agenda. Is going from boston to be the chief of the staff. Not the chief of the president. He is going to go there and make sure that every piece of information given to the president is right. That is what he is going to do. That move should have been made three months ago. Here is where we are. It is the president s prerogative to choose who the chief of staff is. I think were going to see a change in the implementation coming from the white house. The Communications Team at the white house, sean spicer is a friend of mine. If you tell me the house of cards is going to write a story, and were going to lay out the next 11 days in the house of cards, the producers would say that is never going to happen. Mistake after mistake. , letsime to understand time to its time to it to work. That is what the American People deserve. You have to, in my opinion, have relationships to get things done. You can disagree on things. Of American People are tired the stagnant, broken washington. It is time to bring you together. It is time to bring people together. They can get significant changes done. I hope the voters hold them accountable. There is a quote, the color of your character is shown not when people see what you are doing, but wet you do when you are but what you do when you are by yourself. My question is about golf. Trump said im going to be so busy working for yall, im not going to have time to go on vacations. Hes getting ready to leave for a vacation in new jersey. Who drives his cart on the tee box and the grain, and improves his line. Lieve anything . E corey i will tell you this. E is probably a three handicap it is supposed to be really good. To have at discussion, we can have a discussion. If you have seen him drive on the grain that he owns, maybe he should talk to the owner. He gets to drive wherever he wants. I have never played golf with the president. I think by all accounts he is probably the best golfer as a president we have ever seen. If that is what the criteria to be a good president is. When he played golf with the president of china, i think he has played potentially with the Prime Minister of japan, and when a was in florida abe was if we are going to criticize donald trump for playing golf, then we need to criticize barack obama for playing golf. If you want to be fair, if you want to say that donald trump shouldnt play golf, then you should have raised the same issue when barack obama played golf. It is fair. Good afternoon. You appeared on meet the press and stated, and im quoting, its my recommendation to the president of the United States to fire Richard Cordray. This caused chuck todd to ask you whether you had a client who wants to see mr. Cordray fired. You said no, no. I have no clients, whatsoever. It was reported tuesday that among your new consulting companys clients is Community Choice financial, a leader in the payday lending industry, which has faced heightened scrutiny by the Consumer Protection bureau to limit certain loan practices. We can address agree that truth and facts matter. My question, yes or no, is Community Choice financial indeed one of your companys clients . Corey let me be as clear as i can be. Whether Richard Cordray is the i irman of the cfpb, dont make one dime. Let me go on to say Richard Cordray on friday of last week notification because he is campaigning for governor sitting in a federal office. Let me remind you that the chairman of the House Financial Services committee on april 12 in this year and a public hearing called for Richard Cordray to be fired. There have been a dozen federal officials who have asked for cordray to be fired. Whether Richard Cordray is the cfb has zerohe impact in my personal wealth or wellbeing. But let me say this. Richard cordray is an unelected eurocrats. He is unelected bureaucrat. He will cost the taxpayers not money, but jobs. If he wants to go and run for governor of ohio and he should quit his position, like everybody else is required to do, come back, campaign on the merits of his case, and let the people of ohio decided he is the. Ight candidate for governor we know Richard Cordray is coming back to ohio in september to speak at a Jefferson Jackson denture dinner. He has told a Supreme Court justice in the state of ohio he is running for governor. That is a violation. This is exactly you have not answered the question. Corey i dont make one dime. Not a dime. My question is that your previous employer is opposed donald trump while he was running for president , and has not been a supporter at all. Part one. Roger stone, i happened to see the documentary about him. Corey you are the only one. He says the people are so stupid they see somebody on television, [indiscernible] irrelevant of the fact of what they are saying or not saying, it is the lower educated people, the average worker, who will vote for donald trump. Supportive of donald trump since 1986 onward. How do you justify that statement, the people who elected him, he is calling them the lowest common denominator that will elect donald trump . Corey the first part of your question, you are right. Individuals from the coke political operation coch political operation did not trump political campaign. I guess their influence didnt have a material outcome on the election. I will never justify anything roger stone has to say. Roger stone only speaks for roger stone, not anybody in the administration. Thank you for being here. How is thesk you, president spirit . Perhaps we worked with him in the beginning, but i am seeing the tide turned. We are a very conservative community. I just want to say god bless him, and think thank them. Him. Other thanink nobody the 44 occupants of that office can tell you what it is like to be the president of the United States. It must be a very difficult job for anybody. The sident remains up upbeat and hopeful. I also think he is a bit lack ofnted in the progress he has been able to achieve. You can make a decision and move forward, and that is going to implement it. With the government it is more difficult. With all due respect to the president and his team that came with him, the top seven or eight individuals had never in their lives until the day they took office had a. Gov email address. They were all outsiders. Down the list. It doesnt matter who it is. Email. Had a. Gov it is a learning curve. He is an optimistic person. He continues to be optimistic. I think the pivot of a new chief of staff is brought a nuisance to him of the ability to go in a legislative agenda done, which is something that is the highest priority to him now. You acknowledge you decided not to answer that gentlemans question about the police in the jamboree and whether or not you are is your company a client or not . Are they a client . Corey it is a multiple part question. Yes, police jamboree. No. When you get the podium, you get to talk as long as you want. Let me answer his question. I will be specific to his question. I am sorry if i didnt. I thought i was very fair in my criticism of the administration. If i did not fully address your question, i didnt know it was your job to make sure i addressed his question. Do should the president of the United States have given a political speech at the boy scouts . Part of your question . Am sorry that is not my decision. It is the decision of the president of the United States. If you choose is to make a speech on a topic that he wants to choose from you can criticize him for that. Speech of the boy scouts the speech that was written for him and designed to begin given at that location . I dont know. I dont work for the administration. I can see the uproar. Mosti wasnt there people who attended that were boy scouts were thankful that the president of the United States took time out of his day to recognize their service to our great country. Maybe i am wrong. I would think that is the larger story. The boy scouts who provide an Amazing Service were grateful that the president of the United States came to them and met with them, and spoke with them. Maybe you have a different opinion of that. We will address that. The second point. Let me apologize. If the president said Police Officer should not put their hand on somebodys head as they put them in the car, if that is so egregious, that is what our discussion is about, not about individuals north korea wants to kill us. Dont kid yourself. The Police Officer by the way. I was one. I dont know if you have ever served. But i have. I think everybody should be treated with respect. I will think the president said anything other than that. If he intimated maybe you to put your hand on the head of a murderer as you put in the back of the car i know what the Police Department is going to continue to do regardless of what the president says you could or could not do.
