Welcome chairwoman rhonda mcdaniel. [applause] we are thrilled to announce the 2024 Republican National committee will be held in milwaukee. [applause] but first, mayor cavalier johnson. Someone you might know his former chair and chief of staff of the white house. [applause] Peggy Williams smith. [applause] and if i were any city in the country, i would be trying to steal her away. [laughter] she is amazing. The entire wisconsin delegation for the rnc delegation. [applause] committeeman tom and Committee Woman patty. Ken henderson and all of the members of the committee that traveled here today. I am personally so excited to go to milwaukee for our convention. In the next two years we look forward to working with the mayor and everyone in the community to make this an event that not only highlights the rnc and our nominee for 2024, but highlights the great city milwaukee is. We are committed to using vendors and being part of this committee in a positive way that is going to be beneficial for everyone. Everyone will want to come to milwaukee after this convention. Some call it the brew city or the city that beer built. I do not drink which is kind of ironic. I might have to start drinking. [laughter] milwaukee is also home to the Worlds Largest outdoor Music Festival and the birthplace of harley davidson. We picked a phenomenal city. Political conventions are really special and uniquely american tradition. 2024 will be another chapter in a long story of great moments, great speeches and great candidates. In 1984, president reagan took the stage in dallas and described the election as a choice between elevating america to new heights or accepting the suffocation of leftwing big government. That convention saw a Ronald Reagan nominated to a successful second term. We will face a similar choice in 2024 when we will nominate a candidate to bring back that same republican optimism and take back the white house in 20 24. [applause] i told cavalier he might have to cover his ears for some of that. [laughter] he did not hear any of that. But i can say from the first moment i met this mayor, he is somebody who said, i am going to put my city first and the revenue this will bring to my city and the attention this will bring to my city and the help this will bring to the people of my city is going to be invaluable. We are going to have a Great Partnership and he is a great mayor. I am saying that as a republican so the whole world should be in shock. There is a bipartisan moment happening. [laughter] [applause] please join me in welcoming the wonderful mayor of milwaukee, cavalier johnson. [applause] good morning, everybody. I am so pleased to share in a moment of bipartisanship, not just in wisconsin, but in america we need more of that. I think that is something all of us can agree to. I would like to start by expressing my appreciation to rhonda mcdaniel, to supporters on the selection committee, to the full Republican National committee for picking the lucky, our city, the cream city, the brew city to host the Republican National convention of 2024. [applause] now i may be biased, because i, am the mayor but i think you made the right choice. [laughter] i look forward to presenting my city to republican delegates, two alternates and representatives of the news media who will descend upon the lucky. You will find milwaukee is full of unexpected gems. David crowley is here and you will have the opportunity to spend time in our parks system, which is the pearl of jewe acrossl milwaukee. We are thoughtful and generous in milwaukee. We want to share our riverwalks, hotels, museums, take in the natural beauty. We want you to eat at the fine restaurants. We want you to tip generously. [laughter] very generously. I want you to take all of your money to milwaukee and leave it in our economy. [laughter] make sure that you treat our hotel staff, our workers and tourism staff very well. They have been battered the past couple of years and they could use your support and your help. I am optimistic about the city of milwaukee. Very optimistic about the citys future. There are a wide range of positive signs for milwaukee and the opportunity to host a Major Political convention is just one of the positive signs. To all of those out there that said, let this be the call. Let this be the signal that we want you in milwaukee. If you are a largescale convention or large sports event, we want you in milwaukee. If you are the nba allstar game, we want you in milwaukee. If you are the mlb allstar game, guess what . We want you in milwaukee. If you are the rider cup, we want you in milwaukee. If you are the u. S. Triathlon, guess what . We want you in milwaukee. If you are wwe summer slam, which National Just hosted, we want you in milwaukee. [laughter] if you are the Crossfit Games going on in medicine, wisconsin right now madison, wisconsin right now, we want you in milwaukee. Rhonda, you are welcoming everybody. That is what we want to see continue to happen in milwaukee. In closing, milwaukee is open for business. Business. Youre looking forward to hosting not just a Great Convention in 2024 for the republicans but we are looking forward to hosting a number of worldclass events with the attention on our city in the years to come. Thank you chairwoman Ronna Mcdaniel for your leadership and what you have done for us by choosing milwaukee. You have given, sorry, chicago, the greatest midwestern city on Lake Michigan the opportunity to show the world what it means to be a republican, to have diversity, to build a Party Together and a Community Together to show the people of wisconsin and the country that we are the party of the future. And i will tell you, it is a different role being chair of the host committee. It is basically raise a lot of money. The one thing that we are good at is raising a lot of money and we will do that. [applause] this will be the First Convention in person since cleveland. When this happens, it will be the first time that we are coming together as a team. Milwaukee is the Perfect Place to go. It is a battleground state. It matters. Sometimes we debate it. It matters. All the work that ron has done and you have done and the whole team, you will be in this community not just during the two weeks and two years. You will be there doing community events, going to fundraisers. You already have a fulltime office which is incredible. You will be living in part of the great state of wisconsin. The last thing is we will win. Like Vince Lombardi said, winning is not everything. It is the only thing. And that is what a convention is all about which is electing the president of the united states. Thank you, rana, thank you, and the entire Republican National committee.
