Is progress, there being made. It is absolutely fixable. Rapid asess is not as you would like. You need to exercise patience. Some people dont want the facts. They dont care about the facts. What they care about is an agenda. Lifeer look through through a red or blue lens. It has always been red white and blue. As a former seal commander, i never asked the political affiliation of the folks around me. What i cared about was how good they were. With a skilled, committed, did they have they break training ut and grinned to grit to do what wasry necessary. My job is to surround myself with a team. Make sure we have the right resources to move the ball forward. Host lets say democrats want to raise taxes slightly and you want budget cuts in other areas. Ken ryan zinke hold firm to principles that also compromise on an issue like taxes spending . Some values are nonnegotiable. And those values would be faith, family, the constitution. Hold those values and my background as a seal commander. I swore an oath. To defend the constitution against all enemies foreign and mystic. Seale that oath as a commander, as a state senator, and i was proud to give that same oath in congress. So to me the constitution itself is nonnegotiable. How we approach making america more secure and making the economy prosperous so we can afford a Strong Military and to keep the promises weve made, infrastructure and Social Security and elderly programs its going to take a strong economy. So i will sit down and reach across the aisle on how to get there, but i dont think you ever have to sacrifice your values to do it. Reforme places where tax should be done . Absolutely. But my philosophy has been of the three components of our economy, taxes, cutting, spending, and growth. It is much better to grow the economy. You gain more in a shorter amount of time if we grow the economy. I think the growth is really about obtaining energy independence. In my experience in the middle east, think of the change that the world would look at. If we were Energy Independent and were not held hostage to the middle east by our energy needs, we could explore exporting natural gas to europe so they would not be held hostage to an aggressive russia. We have everything in this country to be Energy Independent. Is part of i am a huge fan of teddy roosevelt. Aboutforward, what i like roosevelt was he thought that he built the panama canal. Montana enjoys a lot of federal land for public use. Over 100 years ago he had a vision of looking at what america should the and could be. At thent a great power turn of the 19th century but we are today. A lot of that foundation was thinking big. Highlighting the idea that roosevelt taught big thought big and america has to again. The problems are real but we have to think it enough to find solutions, and we can. The american spirit is still strong. Host how do you structure your life here in washington and back in montana with your family . I travel. And knock ons come the door to the office i try to be here. Host is the job what you expected . Guest to integrate. Ive had to adjust my to a degree. Ive had to adjust my expectations. It is bureaucratic. I was surprised at the amount of bureaucracy in washington. The view from the potomac is a lot different from the view from the missouri and yellowstone. Part of the hurdle we have to get over is decisions are being made in washington by unelected bureaucrats. But theyt bad people dont know the issues in the ground. They couldnt tell you where montana is on the map and the difference between butte and bozeman. Americats people across from people that dont understand what it is to be out in america. We see these victims and regulations and how the effect is on normal peoples lives. The further we can push decisions down, or if you are going to make a decision, i think it is a fair request and trade that when you make a decision you should understand what the consequences of that decision are on the ground. Decisions are made here every day that are kind of onesizefitsall. It doesnt work. Stiflingoes is its what the one guy in america has done that are than any other nation in the history of the world is innovate and think outofthebox. Onesizefitsall, topdown management stifles the very thing that has made america the shining light of every other country. Our ability to innovate, think outofthebox, ring new product, and look at things the american way. That we have to protect. Leaderset some great that have gone out of their way, bringing me in and go this is the path that we see for you if you want to go on this path you will have to earn it like everyone else but you have a great opportunity. As a result, i try to stay disciplined in my message. In a football since i try to stay within the hashmarks. I understand i represent everyone in montana. We have one congressman and i represent not only the republican side, i represent the democrats, tea party, hearing and. Union. I represent everyone in montana and i think if we take that value set forward, congress represents america. It articulates the values, needs, and desires of the district but the purpose is to make america better. Theres a lot of ways that we can, a lot of paths to obtain our goal. But we are all here for one purpose. To make sure america is strong, secure, and prosperous. Host could we see you in leadership down the road . Guest yes.
