Lives. To change america. To rechina america. To restore the spirit of america and leave no one behind. Am i right . [applause] ] [chanting kashich, kasich,ch, kasich. Had tens ofwe have millions of dollars spent against us. Sell themre goods to to spend our time being critical of somebody else. Applause] mr. Kasich and maybe, maybe just maybe, at a time when clearly change is in the air, maybe just maybe we are turning the page on a dark part of american politics. Because tonight the like overcame the darkness of negative speech. And you made it happen you made it happen you made it happen [chanting] kasich, case kasich, kasich, kasich. Andkasich where americans we like to think of government as a last resort. Family is only strong when the foundation is strong and that is why we will wake up every single day to make sure every american has a job in the United States of america to help their families and their neighbors. [applause] mr. Kasich and, when i am president of the united they of the United States, first of all you know, we are going to knock the walls of the city down if they do not want to change. That is what i have done all of my lifetime. And heres what were going to tell people. Think about it, i hope you will agree. We are going to solve the problems in america not by being extreme. Not i being versed a republican or a democrat, but by reminding everybody we are americans dedicated to shining up america. Fixing our problems. [cheers and applause] this campaign has changed me. The people of New Hampshire, the wonderful people of New Hampshire have changed me. I want to tell you how it happened. , i doot know, you know not know if it happened in the first 25 town halls or the second 25 town halls or the third. [laughter] but as we got closer and closer, 106 that we finally finished on, people, for some reason, were able to come to these town halls and feel safe. And heame the other day was crying at the end of the town hall and he put his arms around me and said, my son has cancer and i feel as though i did not warn him. Sad. Said, sir, it is it is a tragedy. It is terrible. But it is not your fault. He communicated to somebody the other day and said, that conversation lifted a week off of his shoulders. And, he came from new york to tell me his story. The womanu remember that was sitting way up in the seats and she told the story of her daughter who had been sick from being a child and she felt all along and i asked her to come down. I hugged that woman and we all bit that night. Not long ago at one of the big town halls, a lady sitting in the back, after were gone to the mechanics of fighting drugs, she brought in the real flesh and blood and she talked about her 31yearold daughter who had and i1 months sober looked around the room and said, can you imagine how hard it is to be a mom who at one point just held that little baby in her arms to have to wake up every day and ask the good lord, indigo lord is listening, to have her daughter recover. When you are settings in settings like that you begin to learn something. There are too many people in america who do not feel connect did. They have got victories that no one celebrates with them and they have defeats and pain sometimes that they have to absorb themselves. Reallytie you what i think we need. We need Economic Growth and job creation but at the heart and little mckees rocks where my father carried mail and stuck his nose into everybodys business and brought joy at a lost somebody they loved. You see, that is the america that i know. Where we slow down our lives. And letdown our lives, us leave this hall tonight and i would ask you to reflect on this. Because, you see we are all made to change the world. Ofare all made to be a part the healing of this world and if we would just slow down, and by the way, feel that divisions within our own emilys. He willing to listen to the person next door when you are in such a hurry to get out of the driveway, get out of the shopping center. Slow down. Look them in the eye, give them a hot. You see, it does not take government. It takes our hearts to change america. In this campaign i have become convinced even more about what it takes to win eight Political Campaign and what it takes for somebody to be a leader. It is not just what is a p are in the head, it is also what is people the heart and the of New Hampshire of taught me a lesson and from this day forward, i am going to go slower and spend my time listening, healing, helping, bringing people together. [cheers and applause] mr. K sick thank you. Sick kasich now ch, kasich, kasich mr. Kasich i think they want us to go. And he talked so long i thought he was going to hit has 77th birthday while he was still talking. And hillary, it is not working here. It is not going to work next fall either, because i am coming back to New Hampshire. [cheers and applause] [chuckling] mr. K sick how could kasich how could anybody be so lucky to have people like you. He lord has blessed me we are the beginning of this campaign season. We had South Carolina and we will move through South Carolina all across this country and move through the midwest. You just wait. Let me tell you. If you do not have a seat out, go get one. Thank you all very much. [no audio] announcer on the next washington journal, the results of the New Hampshire primary. Then we look forward to the so South Carolina primary and the nevada caucuses. Livengton journal is tomorrow at 7 00 a. M. And you can join the conversation on facebook and twitter. Janet yellen gives these semiannual Economic Outlook before congress on wednesday. She will testify before the House Financial ServicesCommittee Live. Thats wednesday at 10 00 a. M. Eastern. I am currently on the fence between hillary and bernie. What is important to me and this election is education. I am in Elementary School teacher and i want to know where they stand on common core. What is most important to me is our National Debt because it is going to affect us teens. I am not endorsing anyone, i want you to get out to the polls, user vote because your vote is your voice. Use it. Number one issue in the campaign is getting money out of politics. Citizens united needs to be over turned. Getting worsee is and worse. A very small number of people making decisions on what comes before congress. For that reason, i am supporting Bernie Sanders. I believe it is every persons duty to be active. Trying to figure out what i like, i am going from candidate to candidate, campaign to campaign, and i hear marco rubio is taking texas. I am ready to find out who i like and who i will vote for. Announcer now we hear from jeb bush speaking to supporters at Manchester Community college. To finishs projected in the top five in the republican primary behind donald trump and john kasich. Jeb bush thank you. Thank you for all your hard work. To palombo, 2. 0, lindsay, to adams, the, jim whole amazing team of volunteers in New Hampshire and those that travel from florida and around the country to come participate. And germany. Thank you so much for ink hair. [applause] it allh the pundits had figured out last night when the Iowa Caucuses were complete, they said the race was now between two freshmen senators and a reality tv star. While the reality tv star is still doing well, it looks like you all have reset the race and for that i am rifle. Of stators we are electing the president of the United States, the person who has to make tough these visions. I am grateful to have the opportunity. Lot ofhe way, i did a listening and learning, something i think is important in public leadership. Rightned from a woman behind me, who is a leader in the recovery movement. Addiction epidemic of in the United States and i learned we can fix it if we all suren our heart to make our families and loved ones have a second chance. I learned from erik paulsen in the Londonderry Chamber of commerce, the guy who is expanding his microbrewery waiting for ae is stamp inside the department of treasury, a stamp created during the prohibition era. It will take six months. He is finance equipment, he is ready to sell more craft beer, but because of the bureaucrats and washington, d. C. , he cannot do that. I will fix that. I promise you. I have learned first hand of the that are the country waiting for the department of Veterans Affairs for phil their contract with the veterans. When they came back on, they have not gotten the care they deserve. In fact, at a town hall meeting last saturday when veteran, we learned the story of a veteran who was declared dead. Who did not get his benefits, of course, from Social Security because he was declared dead. His daughter received a death certificate. They continued to provide the benefits but it took nine months to get it fixed. I will be a president that fixes the sings to honor our veterans and we, just like him who is not dead, this campaign is not dead. We are going on to South Carolina. [applause and cheers] [crowd chanting] jeb, jeb, jeb, jeb. Bush i know how to do this, and florida we cut taxes 19 billion. Too not when it i want take that to washington, d. C. , to lower our taxes and increase jobs for this country because people are suffering right now. Shrink the State Government by 11 because i took on the powerful public union. We need to do that in washington, d. C. , to fix the mess there as well. Washington needs to become, once again, the servant rather than the master of the American People. I know how to do this and i will restore the proper balance. Government cannot grow faster than our ability to pay for it and in a bush administration, it will not do it. On the teachers union, Hillary Clintons first endorsement was the teachers union. The second was the other teachers union. I will struggle and fight for the families that want a better education for their families. And florida we did just that. The second statewide voucher third statewide voucher system. As president , i will fight for families that only want a quality education for their children because they know that is the great civil rights of our time. Be a conservative candidate, embracing conservative values and i will do it just as i did the state of florida. Second amendment, embracing family life. We need a president that does just that as well. As president , one of the first orders of business is to repeal obama care and replace it with a Market Driven system. Can promise you i will be a 10th amendment president , focused on shifting power back to our states to allow us to create a 21st century government. Ishington cannot do it, but believe in New Hampshire, florida, and across the country, if you give the power back to the state they can craft 21st Century Solutions for health care and providing to those who need help breaking out of poverty. We can do this but it requires someone with proven leadership skills and i have those skills. [applause] jeb bush we also need someone that can defeat Hillary Clinton in the fall. [applause] open bracket bush not just Hillary Clinton, apparently Bernie Sanders as well. To beat Hillary Clinton, we need somebody totally transparent who provides 340,000 emails for people to see. His life is an open book will stop i am proud of the life i have let and i have embedded more than any other candidate. We need somebody with a proven record because the clinton hit machine is coming right after republican nominees. We need someone who has been tested, and i am that guy. In dangerousliving times. Heres what i know to be true having a front row seat watching history unfold. The next president will be confronted with a challenge we have not identified. An opportunity we might miss. Who do you want to serve as president of the United States . Who do you want to lead this country . [crowd chanting] you want somebody like Hillary Clinton or donald trump that will pursue their ambitions at the expense of service to the people who truly need the help . Do you want someone who organizes their life by dividing us . To you want someone who has suggested their enemies are the Republican People that disagree with them . We have had that. We have had that for seven long years and now we need someone that believes in the goodness and greatness of the American People. Someone who will organize to find unity again. To create a sense of purpose for all americans, work across the aisles to fix the mess. Someone that respects the competition constitution and will not trouble over it. Someone who does not assume that just because you disagree you are a bad person. We need to fix this. The American People deserve a lot better. We need a president with a steady hand. With a proven record. Who has a servants heart and is all about him. Running for the presidency of the United States and why im so grateful to the people of New Hampshire. You have given me the chance to go to South Carolina where we will do really well thanks to you all. Thank you very much. Thank you for all of your help. And to do so, we must stand up with them against sanders. [cheers and applause] cruz we cannot win by nominating a candidate with the same policy on amnesty as Hillary Clinton. Listen to this, that will never happen again. [cheering and applause rubio it will never happen again. Tell you why. Let me tell you why. Let me tell you i will never happen again. It is not about me. Itis not about the campaign, is about this election. That is about this election. It is about what is at stake in this election. For the last seven years, we have a president that has been doing tremendous damage to this country. Tremendous damage. Who is a president trying to redefine the relationship between government and our economy. Taking over our health care system. Solution toery every problem is a tax increase. He is doing damage and undermining the constitution. Wage war on the second amendment. Under minding undermining religious liberties. Doing damage around the world. As anident who views us arrogant country that needs to be cut down to size so he cuts down our military and betrays our allies. In this election, we have to decide if were going to keep doing this. We will keep doing it if Hillary Clinton is elected. Elected. Sanders is if they win, all of the damage barack obama did to america becomes permanent. That is why they cannot win. That is why they cannot win this election. That is why we must win this election and we will win this election. [applause] sen. Rubio we will win this election. We will win this election and we must win this election. Thank you. This election because of we do not win this lose ourwe may country. If we dont win this election, my children and yours will not inherit the greatest nation in the history of the world which is what our parents and grandparents left for us. Tonight, we did not wind up where we wanted to be but that does not change where we will wind up at the end of this process. [cheers and applause] is on nightsnd it and on moment such as these that i am reminded that my family has faced rate challenge their entire lives. I remember one story in particular when i was shown, i mustve been someyearsold going on eightyearsold. Lost a job. He was a manager at an apartment building. Within 48 hours, they had change the locks and told us when to move out. I was a child and i remember my parents scrambling to get a moving truck, to get our furniture loaded as quickly as possible because on monday we needed to find a new house and my father needed to find a new job. And it was hard because most of his life he had been a bartender in the United States. He at been an apartment manager for about a year and half and then he could not on bartending work on miami beach and so my father, in january of 1979, left to las vegas by himself. Leaving his children and wife in miami to go look for a job. For 20 yearsrked as a bartender and when he got to las vegas the only jobs he could find was as a bus boy. Ater 20 years of working as bartender, this gentleman was carrying buckets of ice and cleaning glasses. With bartenders half his age and not even 1 10 of his expense. It was humbling, it was hard. Frightful. Not he understood it was not about him, it was about us. My father, more than halfway through his life, was willing to do whatever it took so that our future could be better. That is the challenge before our country now. Not all the days will be great days. We will not always get what we want. I amt the end of the day, confident not only will this wentry be successful, that will be successful as well. This nation will we discover and we embrace the principles that made her great. I am confident [cheers and applause] sen. Rubio i am confident because for over two centuries americans in the end have always gotten it right. Us each generation before have done what needed to be done and i know with all my heart and will do what needs to be done in this generation to leave for our children what they deserve to it hurt. A new american country. The greatest nation on earth. That is what we will do in this election. So, New Hampshire, chanting marco] sen. Rubio New Hampshire, i thank you for welcoming us. I thank you for this no caps on my kids had a great time. I think you for your vote, for the hours you gives on the phones and the doors that you not. I thank you. We will see is again because are coming back in november to win the general election. [applause and chanting marco] sen. Rubio into new england, maine, vermont, massachusetts, we will see you in a few weeks. We are going to come and when. And win. And South Carolina, where on the way thank you and god bless you. We can do so much better by remembering who we are and restoring a citizen government once again to this great nation. I am committed to my highest calling as a leader and you have given me the energy and determination and wind at our back to continue this great fight. Im also union president. One of the things that should be talked about is the regime of testing, the accountability. I hope the candidates will talk about that. The candidate we are supporting his Bernie Sanders. Bernie, bernie, bernie he is the only candidate that will make the major changes we need to get our country back to democracy. The system is it broken, it is fixed, and we need to make it right for the average american. He speaks the truth. I believe it is important for every young voter to care about the economy. Mr. Gates has served under several president s, most recently george w. Bush and barack obama. At the end of the cold war, when i was director of central intelligence, i came to believe very strongly that the American People had given the cia a pass on a a lot of things because of this exit essential conflict with the soviet union. I believe that after the end of the cold war, we will have to be more open about what we did and why we did it, and even to an extent how we did it, to help the American People better understand why intelligence was important to the government and to president s, and why president s value to. Sunday at 8 00 eastern on q a. Next, vermont senator Bernie Sanders, winner of the New Hampshire primary, speaks to supporters in concord. He won the primary by double digits. [applause] Bernie Sanders thank you. Thank you, New Hampshire. [applause] shortly after the polls closed secretary clinton called me and was very gracious in her congratulations. I think her for her call and i congratulate her and her supporters. Very Good Campaign they ran in New Hampshire. [applause] together we have sent a message that will echo from wall street to washington, from maine to california. [applause] that is that the government of our great country belongs to all of the people and not just a handful of wealthy Campaign Contributors and their super pacs. [applause] [applause] nine months ago we began our campaign here New Hampshire we had no campaign organization. We had no money. We were taking on the most powerful Political Organization in the United States of america. [applause] tonight with what appears to be a recordbreaking voter turnout [applause] a huge voter turnout we won. We harnessed to the energy and the excitement that the Democratic Party will need to succeed in november. [applause] sen. Sanders what happened here in New Hampshire in terms of an enthusiastic electorate, people who came out in large numbers, that is what will happen all over this country. [applause] sen. Sanders and let us never forget, democrats and progressives win when voter turnout is high. [applause] sen. Sanders republicans win when people are demoralized and voter turnout is low. Tonight, we serve notice to the political and Economic Establishment of this country, that the American People will not continue to accept a corrupt Campaign Finance system that is undermining american democracy, and we will not accept a rigged economy. In which ordinary americans work longer hours for lower wages while almost all new income and wealth goes to the top 1 . [applause] sen. Sanders i want to take this opportunity again congratulate secretary clinton and her organization and supporters for waging a Vigorous Campaign. I hope that in the days ahead, we can continue to wage a strong, issueoriented campaign, and bring new people into the political process. [applause] sen. Sanders but i also hope that we all remember, and this is a message not just to our opponents, but to those who support me as well, that we will need to come together in a few months and unite this party, and this nation, because the right wing republicans we oppose must not be allowed to gain the presidency. [applause] sen. Sanders as we all remember, the last time republicans occupied the white house, there trickledown economic policies drove us into the worst economic downturn since the depression of the 1930s. No, we will not allow huge tax breaks for billionaires. [applause] sen. Sanders we will not allow huge cuts to Social Security, medicare, medicaid, and education. [applause] sen. Sanders no, we will not allow back into the white house a Political Party which is so beholden to the fossil fuel industry that they cannot even acknowledge the scientific reality of climate change. [applause] sen. Sanders the people of the hampshire have sent a profound message to the political establishment, to the Economic Establishment, and by the way, to the media establishment. [applause] [crowd chanting] sen. Sanders what the people here have said is that, given the enormous crises facing our country, it is just too late for the same old, same old, establishment politics and establishment economics. The people want real change. What the American People are saying by the way, i hear this not just from progressives, but from conservatives and moderates. We can no longer continue to have a Campaign Finance system in which wall street and the billionaire class are able to buy elections. [applause] sen. Sanders americans, no matter what their political view may be, understand that that is not what democracy is about. That is what oligarchy is about. [applause] sen. Sanders and we will not allow that to continue. I do not have a super pac, and i do not want a super pac. [applause] i am overwhelmed and i am deeply moved, far more than i can express in words, by the fact that our campaigns Financial Support comes from more than one million americans who have made more than 3. 7 million individual contributions. That is more individual contributions than any candidate in the history of the United States until this point in an election. [applause] sen. Sanders and do you know what that average contribution was . 27. [applause] sen. Sanders i am going to new york city tonight and tomorrow, but im not going to new york city to hold a fundraiser on wall street. [applause] sen. Sanders instead, im going to hold a fundraiser right here, right now, across america. My request is, please go to berniesanders. Com and contribute. [applause] sen. Sanders please help us raise the funds we need, whether its 10 or 20 or 50. Help us raise the money we need to take the fight to nevada, South Carolina, and the states on super tuesday. There it is. Thats our fundraiser. Pretty quick. Now, what the American People understand, is that our great country was based on a simple principle, and that principle is fairness. Let me be very clear. It is not fair when we have more income and wealth inequality today than almost any major country on earth, and when the top 1 10 of 1 now owns almost as much wealth as the bottom 90 . That is not fair. It is not there, when the 20 wealthiest people in this country now own more wealth than the bottom half of the American People. So are you guys ready for a radical idea . [applause] sen. Sanders together, we are going to create an economy that works for all of us, not just the 1 . [applause] sen. Sanders and when millions of our people are working for starvation wages, we are going to raise the minimum wage to 15 an hour. And we are going to bring a equity for women. Pay equity for women. [applause] sen. Sanders and when we need the best educated workforce in the world, yes, we are going to make public colleges and universities tuitionfree. [applause] sen. Sanders and for the millions of americans struggling with horrendous levels of student debt, we are going to substantially ease that burden. [applause] sen. Sanders in america, people should not be financially distressed for decades for the crime, the crime of trying to get a higher education. That is absurd. [applause] sen. Sanders well, my critics say, bernie, thats a great idea. You are into all this free stuff. How are you going to pay for it . I will tell you how we are going to pay for it. We are going to impose a tax on wall street speculation. [applause] sen. Sanders the agreed, the recklessness, and the illegal behavior of wall street drove our economy to its knees. The American People bailed out wall street. Now, its wall streets time to help the middle class. And when we talk about transforming america, it means ending the disgrace of this country having more people in jail than any other country in the world, disproportionately africanamerican and latino. [applause] sen. Sanders not only are we going to write to end institutional racism and a broken criminal Justice System [applause] sen. Sanders we are going to provide jobs and education for our young people, not jails and incarceration. [applause] sen. Sanders and let me say that as a member of the Energy Committee in the senate and the environmental committee, the debate is over. Climate change is real. [applause] sen. Sanders it is caused by human activity and it is already causing devastating problems in this country and around the world. We have a moral responsibility to work with countries throughout the world, to transfer on our Energy System away from fossil fuels, to Energy Efficiency and sustainable energy. [applause] sen. Sanders now, i have been criticized during this campaign for many many things. Every single day. Thats ok. Thats all right. They are throwing everything at me accept the kitchen sink, and i have the feeling that kitchen sink is coming pretty soon as well. But what our campaign is about is thinking big, not small. Its about having the courage to reject the status quo. [applause] sen. Sanders its about saying that at a time when every major country on earth guarantees health care to all of their people, we should be doing the same in our great country. [applause] sen. Sanders in my view, under president obamas leadership, the Affordable Care act has been an important step forward, no question about it. But we can and must do better. [applause] sen. Sanders 29 million americans should not remain uninsured. An even greater number should not be underinsured, with large deductibles and copayments. We should not be paying by far the highest prices in the world for Prescription Drugs at a time listen to this when the top three Drug Companies in this country made 45 billion in profits last year. [boos] sen. Sanders that is an obscenity. Let me tell you something. When we make it to the white house [applause] sen. Sanders when we make it to the white house, the pharmaceutical industry will not continue to rip off the American People. [applause] sen. Sanders and further, it makes no sense that as a nation, we continue to spend far more per capita than the people of any other nation, all of whom guarantee health care to all of their people. And that is why i believe in a medicare for all, singlepayer program. [applause] sen. Sanders which will not only guarantee health care for all, but will save the average middleclass family thousands of dollars a year in health care costs. [applause] sen. Sanders my friends, we all know that we live in a dangerous and complex world. As president , i will defend this nation, but i will do it responsibly. I voted against the war in iraq. [applause] sen. Sanders and that was the right vote. [applause] sen. Sanders while we must be relentless in combating terrorists would do us harm, we should not be the policeman of the world. Nor should we they are the burden of fighting terrorism alone. In the middle east, the United States must be part of an International Coalition, sustained by nations in the region, that have the means to protect themselves. Together, we must and will destroy isis. But we should do it in a way that does not put our young men and women in the military into perpetual warfare in the quagmire of the middle east. [applause] sen. Sanders my friends, we must fix our broken immigration system that divides families and create a path toward citizenship for hardworking people are living in the shadows. [applause] sen. Sanders we must strengthen and expand Social Security, and increase the benefits that seniors and disabled vets receive, so that people can live in dignity in their retirement. [applause] sen. Sanders we must rebuild our crumbling infrastructure, and when we do that, we create millions of decent paying jobs. [applause] sen. Sanders we must pursue the fight for womens rights, for gay rights, for disability rights. [applause] sen. Sanders we must, against stronger and stronger opposition, protect the right of a woman to control her own body. [applause] sen. Sanders and we must protect the men and women who serve our nation in unit of warm in uniform, and protect our veterans who put their lives on the line to defend us. [applause] sen. Sanders my friends, we must tell the billionaire class and the 1 that they cannot have it all at a time of massive wealth and income inequality. The wealthiest people and largest corporations in this country will start paying their fair share of taxes. [applause] sen. Sanders my friends, i am the son of a polish immigrant who came to this country speaking no english and having no money. My father worked every day of his life and he never made a whole lot. My mom and dad, and brother and i, grew up in a small 3. 5room rentcontrolled apartment in brooklyn, new york. My mother, who died at a young age, always dreamed of moving out of that apartment, getting a home of her own, but she never realized that dream. The truth is that neither one of my parents could ever have dreamed that i would be here tonight, standing before you as a candidate for president of the United States. [applause] [crowd chanting] sen. Sanders this is the promise of america, and this is the promise we must keep alive for future generations. What began last week in iowa, what voters in New Hampshire confirmed tonight, is nothing short of the beginning of a Political Revolution. [applause] sen. Sanders it is it is a Political Revolution that will bring tens of millions of our people together. It will bring together working people who have given up on the political process. It will bring together young people who have never participated in the political process. It will bring together blacks and, latinos, asian americans, native americans [applause] sen. Sanders straight and gay, male and female, people who were born in america, and people who immigrated here. [applause] sen. Sanders we will all come together to say loudly and clearly that the government of our great nation belongs to all of us, not just a few wealthy Campaign Contributors. [applause] sen. Sanders that is what this campaign is about. That is what the Political Revolution is about. So, New Hampshire, thank you again. Now, its on [applause] [crowd chanting] sen. Sanders thank you, New Hampshire. Now, its on to nevada, South Carolina, and beyond. [applause] campaign 2016, cspan takes you on the road to the white house as we follow the candidates on cspan, cspan radio, and cspan. Org. Next, Hillary Clinton speaks to supporters at southern New Hampshire university in hookset. She placed second in the democratic primary behind Bernie Sanders. She was joined onstage by former president clinton and her daughter, chelsea. [fight song plays] Hillary Clinton thank you so much. [applause] thank you my friends. Thank you very much. I dont what he wouldve done if we actually won. I want to begin by congratulating senator sanders on his victory tonight. And i want to thank each and everyone of you. I still love New Hampshire and i always will. [applause] heres what we are going to do. Now we take this campaign to the entire country. We are going to fight for every vote in every state. We are going to fight for Real Solutions that make a real difference in peoples lives. When i started this campaign, i knew we were facing profound challenges. The way too many things were going just wasnt right. It is in right. The kids i met in flint on sunday were poisoned because the governor wanted to save money. A grandmother here in New Hampshire shouldnt have to choose between paying rent and buying medicine because of Prescription Drug company increased the price 4000 . It isnt right to the cashier is paid less than her son for doing the same work even though she is been on the job for many more years. People have a right to be angry. They are also hungry for solutions. What are we going to do . [applause] that is the fights we are taking to the country. What is the best way to change peoples lives so we can all Grow Together . Who is the best change maker . I will work harder than anyone to make the changes that will make your lives better. Senator sanders and i both want to get secret unaccountable money out of politics. Citizens united was the Worst Supreme Court decision in our countrys history. It was actually a case about a rightwing attack on me and my campaign. An organization took aim at me and ended up damaging our entire democracy. You are not going to find anybody more committed to aggressive Campaign Finance reform than me. [applause] we also agree that wall street can never be allowed to once again threatened main street. I know how to do it. [applause] when i tell you no bank should be too big to fail has no executive to powerful to jail, you know i believe it. We need to build a growth and fairness economy. Higher wages, good paying jobs. A Bold National mission to create millions of jobs in clean energy, manufacturing and infrastructure. We need to unleash the innovation of our small businesses. Make it easier for parents to balance work and family. Crack down on corporations that game the system. Stop other countries from taking advantage of us. But even all that is not enough. We have to break through the barriers of bigotry. Africanamerican parents should not have to worry that their children will be harassed and even shot is of the color of their skin. [applause] immigrant families shouldnt have to lie awake at night worrying about a knock on the door. [applause] s delivers something along overdue, equal pay for women. [applause] here is how i see it. A president has to do all parts of the job for all americans. To make sure nothing holds you back. Not debt, not discrimination not a deck that is only stacked for those at the top. That has been the cause and the work of my life. My family and my faith taught me a simple credo. Do all the good you can in all the ways you can for all the people you can. That is what called me to a life of service. Millions of teachers and nurses and Police Officers and firefighters and members of our armed services. The heroic work for all the rest of us. When children anywhere in our country go to bed hungry or are denied a quality education, that diminishes all of us. That is when i started my career at the childrens defense fund. I went undercover in alabama to fight racism in the schools. That is why i went to flint michigan on sunday. [applause] when people anywhere in america are held back by injustice, that demands action. I believe so strongly that we have to keep up with every fiber of our being the argument for campaigns for human rights. Womens rights, gay rights, workers rights. Voting rights. Human rights across the board for every single american. [applause] that is who i am, that is what ive always done, that is why i am in this race. I know i have some work to do particularly with young people but i will say again what i said this week. Even if they are not supporting me now i support them. [applause] i know i have led a blessed life but i also know what it is like to stumble and fall. Sony people in america know that feeling. It is not what you get knocked down that matters, it is whether you get back up. [applause] my friends, please, join me in building on the progress of president obama pushing forward every single day. To break down those barriers that hold us back. We have got to believe in the basic proposition of our country. All americans have a chance to succeed. Everybody has the opportunity to live up to our godgiven potential. [applause] let me thank all of you. Im very grateful to my wonderful family knowing they are by my side. He keeps me going every day. To the thousands of volunteers and organizers who called neighbors and knocked on doors in the New Hampshire snow. To everyone who went to Hillary Clinton. Com. The vast majority giving less than a hundred dollars. There are those who want to deny the passion and the purpose you show every day for this campaign. You are the reason we are here and you are the reason we are going to win the nomination and then win the election together. Thank you so much. [applause] [fight song plays] on the next washington journal, the results of the New Hampshire primary. Then, a look ahead to the South Carolina republican primary and the Nevada Democratic caucuses the same day. Washington journal is live every morning at 7 00 eastern, and you can join the conversation with your calls and comments on facebook and twitter. The longterm threat from the zika virus is the topic of a House Foreign Affairs subcommittee hearing wednesday. Director tom friedman is among the witnesses testifying stem the flood of the virus. Coverage begins at cspan3. Road to the white house began in iowa. The caucuses which date back to 1972, then we moved to New Hampshire, the first in the nation primary, which has a long and rich history. Now we really begin to test the candidates and their message. We will staff to South Carolina, then to the Party Caucuses in nevada for the democrats and republicans. More than likely, we will see a number of candidates drop out of the race and the field will narrow. Then we move into early march. Super tuesday, the start of winner take all primaries, means that the delegate count will be critical. We will get a better sense of whose message is resonating and he was on the path to the nomination. Next, New Hampshire republican primary winner donald trump delivers his victory speech before supporters in manchester. He was joined by his wife and children. Mr. Trump oh, wow. Wow, wow, wow. So beautiful. So beautiful. [laughter] [applause] mr. Trump we are going to make America Great again. [applause] mr. Trump i want to thank everybody, but i really have to begin by paying homage to my parents, they are up there and looking down, saying this is something very special. They love this country and they are very, very happy right now. Thank you to my parents. [applause] thank my i want to a really great sister. Robert, who brother was watching right now. I want to thank my brother, my late brother fred. I learned so much from fred. ,aught me more than just anyone a fantastic guy. I want to thank fred, he is up there and looking down. [applause] and we can go right down the line, but we have to start with what she puts up with [applause] mr. Trump she said right from youbeginning, if you run, are going to win. She said that from day one, so thank you honey. [applause] mr. Trump and don and vanessa, thank you so much. Ivanka made seven stops today at the polling areas. [applause] very, very special. And jard. Jared is a very successful real estate entrepreneur in manhattan, but he likes this better than real estate i think. [applause] mr. Trump and lara and eric were all out today and it was amazing. And where is corey . Does corey have a ground game or what . [applause] mr. Trump wheres corey . You know, we learned a lot about ground game in one week. This isire staff hope, nobody takes more phone calls in a day than hope. Thank you. The entire group, the entire staff. Incredible job. Get over here. [applause] [chanting usa] mr. Trump so, again, we have to thank the candidates, because they really we have some very talented people, and to be victorious again some of these people, even if it is for one week, but i believe will be for many weeks [applause] mr. Trump they really are terrific. A number of them called and i want to thank them. But i wanted to congratulate the other candidates, ok . Now that i got that over with [laughter] mr. Trump its always tough. Y it tomorrow, thats the wa is. We have some real talent in the Republican Party, and the rnc wants to thank everyone. Thank you. What ardoyou what we really want to thank . We want to thank the people of New Hampshire. [applause] mr. Trump i said it, and i said it a year ago i will do well there because im here a lot, and it is so beautiful, and i love it so much, and i love the people, and i said i think they like me a lot, and then all of a sudden we started getting numbers in and everyone said, how come they like trump so much . I have so many friends appear, and they are special, special people. So, New Hampshire, i want to thank you. We love you. We will be back a lot. We will let forget you. You started it, remember. When i came out i heard the end of bernies speech. [booing] trump no, no. We have to congratulate bernie. He wants to give away our country, folks. We are not going to let it happen. I dont know where it is going with bernie. We wish him a lot of luck, but we are going to make America Great again. We are to do it the oldfashioned way full top we are going to be china and japan. We are going to beat mexico at trade. We are going to beat all of these countries that are taking so much of our money away from us. We have the greatest Business People right now in the world. They call me all the time and want to be involved. Political hacks negotiating our deals. That will not happen anymore. We will use the finest Business People in the world. We are going to do something so fast and so strong and the world is going to respect us again, believe me. [laughter] [applause] love our country . [applause] trump one of the things that caught on and is really important self funding my campaign. I dont think people really appreciated it. I thought all of this money being poured into commercials and it is not their money. This is on both sides. Money just is pouring into commercials. These are special interests, folks. These are lobbyists, people who dont necessarily love our country. We have to do something about it. Dealsou see the kind of made in our country, a lot of those deal are made because the politicians arent so stupid. It. Ave to stop we are now going to make it for your benefit. We are going to make the deals for the American People. [applause] this. Oh, i love look at you. I love these signs, they are so imaginative. In a nutshell, we are going to make great trade deals and rebuild our military. So big and to be strong and powerful that nobody is going to mess with us. Believe me, nobody. Nobody. We are going to take care of our vets. Where is al . We love al alright, al. Get up here if you can. We are going to take care of our vets. They are treated horribly and they are our greatest people. To be taken going care of and you remember that, everybody. We are going to have strong borders and people are going to come into our country, but they are going to come into our country legally. They are going to come into our country legally. We are going to build a wall, it is going to be built. It is not even believe it or not. It is not a difficult thing to do. AnNew Hampshire you have enormous problem with heroin and drugs. You wouldnt believe it, it is so beautiful. Say first thing they to me is, mr. Trump, please do something. The kids are getting stuck and other people are getting stuck. We are going to end it at the southern border. It is going to be over. Are going to work really hard to get those people who are so addicted off the habit. We are going to work to take care of the situation. It is a huge problem all over our country. We are going to have borders again to help you solve that very big problem and we will get it done. [applause] trump so beautiful. What a group of people. You know, and on top of this group we have thousands outside who cant even get in, thats what we have. Health care, we are going to repeal and replace obamacare. It is a total disaster. We are repealing and replacing obamacare. Its gone. We are getting rid of common core. We are going to educate our children locally. We educate our children locally. We are going to preserve our very sacred second amendment. There will not be anymore chipping away at our second amendment. If we had protection in california recently, and so many other places you can even look to paris. Paris has the toughest gun laws in the world. France has the toughest gun laws in the world. These animals go in and start shooting one, two, three, 130 people with many horribly wounded. They are right now in the hospital. If there were bullets going in the other direction, believe me, it would have been a different story, but nobody had protection. Trump trump trump i am going to be the greatest jobs president that god ever created, remember that. [applause] trump dont believe those phony numbers when you hear 4. 9 and 5 unemployment. The number is probably 28 or 29 . I even heard recently 42 . Do you think we would have if wes like this if had 5 unemployment do you think we would have these gatherings . Forgetting about security, forgetting about isis which by the way, we are going to knock the hell out of isis the right way. We are going to take care of the economy, we are going to take care of jobs. We are going to take care of our border and healthcare. People are forgetting, but now they are miserable because obamacare is going up 35 , 45 , 50 . It is totally out of control and probably thinks on its own in 2017. What is going on . The last budget that was approved is an absolute disaster for everyone in this country. We owe 19 trillion as of today. We are going to very shortly be at 21 trillion because of the budget. We are going to make our country so strong. We are going to start winning again. We dont win anymore as a country. We dont win on trade, with the military, and we cant beat isis. We are going to start winning again. You are going to be so happy. We are going to make america so great again, may be than ever before. I love you all. Thank you, New Hampshire thank you, New Hampshire thank you we are going now to South Carolina. We are going to win in South Carolina. I love you all. Thank you very much. [applause] you say you want a revolution all want toknow we change the world you tell me that its evil lucian evolution we all want to change the world know its going to be alright alright here is a look at the speech lists from tonights candidates in the primary. Bernie sanders spoke the longest with 27 minutes and 35 seconds. The longest speech on the republican side was runnerup john kasich, edging out donald trump i24 seconds. Carly fiorina gave the shortest speech at five minutes. During campaign 2016, cspan takes you on the road to the white house as we follow the candidates on cspan, cspan radio, and www. Cspan. Org. Next, New Hampshire republican primary runner up Governor John Kasich spoke to supporters in concord, where he was joined on stage. [applause] kasich first of all, i want to congratulate donald trump on his victory. First of all, my daughters are at home. We are all happy because they are not driving tomorrow. How about my family . [applause] and here in New Hampshire, i have to tell you, there is no way i would have gone forward with this campaign without the greatest senator johnson neson. [applause] such a great partner. He is so smart and is just a great friend of mine. We want to spend a little time thinking former senator Gordon Humphrey. [applause] kasich we were at 1 in the National Polls. We are just walking in total obscurity up here and Gordon Humphrey sends me an email. He says this is the hot place to change the world. Guys are sleeping on mattresses in Campaign Headquarters and they hold up there food to a hot plate. That is how you win elections. [applause] friend, ourse, our great the former attorney general. He has been one of the best guys. [applause] kasich 17 years ago i came here and i thought things were going ok. I was standing in the kitchen and i was talking to this lady and thinking, i have myself a town chairperson. This lady really likes me. After 15 minutes she looked at her watch and said, when will the candidate get here . [laughter] kasich the guy who stuck with me for 17 years, where is he . [applause] i want to tell you and there is to say this appropriately when the media kept saying, how are you going to do this . Can you finish high . I said, i have an insurance policy. Its you, it is all of you. How does a guy like me thank you for the countless hours, the phone calls, the door knocking. Some of you have come from our Buckeye State. [applause] fromh some have come virginia, maryland, new york, and connecticut and today, all the way from seattle and a guy flew in from london, england to do this. [applause] there is something going on. Im not sure anyone can quite understand. There is magic in the air in this campaign. We dont see this as just another campaign. We see this as an opportunity for all of us to be involved in something that is bigger than our own lives, to change america, to restore the spirit of america, and to leave no one behind. Am i right . [applause] Kasich KasichKasich Kasich know, Something Big happened tonight. Let me tell you what it is. Had tens of millions of withrs spent against us negative advertising. We have. Politics. E old we never went negative because we have more good to sell than to spend our time being critical of somebody else. [applause] and maybe, maybe just maybe, at a time when clearly change is in the air, maybe just maybe we are turning the page on a dark part of american politics because overcame theight darkness of negative campaigning. [applause] happen. And you made it you made it happen. You made it happen. Kasich Kasich Kasich we are you know, conservatives here. We believe government is a last resort and not as a first resort. As i like to talk about the strength of our country and if you think about the american home, which is the family, we family is only strong when the foundation is strong. Upt is why we will wake every single day to make sure every american has a job, and their neighbors. [applause] kasich when i am president of the United States [cheering and applause] kasich first of all, you know, we will have a battering ram to city down the walls of the if they dont want to change. Here is what we will tell people and i hope you agree. We will solve the problems in america not by being extreme, not by being a republican or democrat, that by reminding people we are americans. We are dedicated to fixing our problems. [applause] kasich this campaign has changed me. The wonderful people of New Hampshire have changed me. I want to tell you how it happened. I dont know if it happened in thefirst 25 town halls, or second 25, or the third 25, but as we got closer to the 100 town halls, people for some reason or able to come to these town halls and feel safe. The other day and he was crying and the end of the town hall and he put his arms around me and said, my son has cancer. I felel as though i did not warn him. I said, sir, it is a tragedy and terrible, but it is not your fault. He communicated to somebody the other day and said that that conversation lifted a weight off his shoulders. He came from new york to tell me his story. The woman who was sitting way up in the seats told the story of her daughter being sick. I asked her to come down and i woman and we all cried a little bit that night. Not long ago at one of the big town halls, a lady sitting in the back, after we had gone through the mechanics of fighting drugs, she brought in the flesh and blood. She talked about her 31yearold daughter who had been 11 months sober. And i looked around the room and said, can you imagine how hard it is to be a mom who at one point just held that little baby in her arms, to have to wake up every day and asked the good lord, and the good lord is listening, to have her daughter recover . When you are in settings like that you begin to learn something. They are too many people in america who dont feel connected. Theyve got victories that no one celebrates with them and they have defeats and pains that sometimes they have to absorb themselves. You what i think we need. We need this Economic Growth and job creation. Soul of the and United States of america, the. Merica i grew up in that is the america that i know, where we slow down our lives. We slow down our lives. Lets leave this hall tonight and i would ask you to reflect on this. We are all made to change the world and to be a part of the healing of this world. And if we would just slow down be willing to listen to the person who lives next door when you are in such a hurry to get out of the driveway, where such a hurry to get out of the shopping center. Just slow down, look them in th give them a hug. It doesnt take government. It takes our hearts. In this campaign i have been convinced even more about what it takes to win a Political Campaign and what it takes for someone to be a leader. It is not just what is up her eie in the head. It is also deep down here in the heart. The people of New Hampshire have taught me a lesson and from this day forward i will go slower and spent my time listening and healing and bringing people together. [cheering and applause] kasich thank you. [applause] [cheering] Kasich Kasich kasich folks. Listen, so long that i thought he was going to hit his 77th birthday before he got off stage. Hillary needs to go to South Carolina because it is not working here. [applause] kasich and it is not going to them next fall either because i am coming back to New Hampshire. [applause] [laughter] kasich how could any man be so lucky to have all of you . To be so happy about life and family and the fact that the lord has blessed me. We are at the beginning of this campaign season. We will move to South Carolina tonight. We will end up in the midwest and you just wait. There is so much that is going to happen. If you dont have a seatbelt, go get one. [applause] kasich t thank you all and god bless you. [applause] on todays washington journal, the results of the New Hampshire primary. To the South Carolina primary and the nevada caucuses. Journal is live every morning and you can join the conversation on facebook and twitter. Federal reserve chair janet yellen gives the semiannual Economic Outlook to congress today. She testifies before the House Financial ServicesCommittee Live, starting at 10 00 a. M. Eastern on cspan3. I am currently on the fence between hillary and bernie. What is an important issue to me is education. I am an Elementary School teacher and i want to know where their stance is on common core. What is most important to me is our National Debt. What i find most important is not who you are voting for because i am not endorsing anyone. I want you to get out to the polls and use your vote because your vote is your voice. Issue in thisne campaign is getting big money out of politics. It needs to be overturned. Until we address that in our politics, Everything Else will continue to get worse. A very small number of people are making decisions for the rest of the population and for that reason, i am supporting Bernie Sanders. I believe that is every american citizens duty to vote in elections. A firsttime voter, i am trying to figure out what i like. I am bouncing from candidate to candidate, from campaign to campaign. I am here at marco rubios campaign breakfast. I am really excited to find out who i like and who im going to vote for. Bush, we hear from jeb speaking to supporters at Manchester Community college. He is projected to finish in the top five in the republican primary, be fined donald trump and Ohio Governor behind donald trump and ohio Governor John Kasich. Thank you for all of your hard work. President , who has been such a steadfast reporter. To the amazing team of volunteers here in New Hampshire and all those who have traveled all over the country to participate and germany thank you so much for being here. [applause] pundits had it all figured out when the Iowa Caucuses were complete. A said the race was now a three freshmence between two senators and a reality tv star. It looks like you all have reset the race and for that, i am really grateful. [applause] bush Granite Staters understand this is a race not to be on the acback bench. We are electing the president of the United States. I got to share my heart and my ideas about the future of this country and i am so grateful to have this opportunity here in New Hampshire. Did a lot of i listening and learning, something i think that is important in public leadership. I learned from a woman who is in theeader recovery movement. We have an epidemic of addiction in the United States and i learned we can fix this if we all act on our heart to make sure our families and loved ones have a second chance. [applause] i learned from eric olson in the chamber of commerce. He is waiting for a stinking stamp, a stamp created inside the prohibition era. He has already financed the equipment and is ready to sell more craft beer, but because of the bureaucrats in washington dc, he cant do it. I will fix that, i promise you. I have list hand of the struggles of the veterans all across this state and the country who are waiting for the when they came back on, they have not gotten the care they deserve. Jeb bush i know how to do this, and florida we cut taxes 19 billion. I do not when it i want to take that to washington, d. C. , to lower our taxes and increase jobs for this country because people are suffering right now. In florida, we shrink the State Government by 11 because i took on the powerful public union. We need to do that in washington, d. C. , to fix the mess there as well. Washington needs to become, once again, the servant rather than the master of the American People. I know how to do this and i will restore the proper balance. Government cannot grow faster than our ability to pay for it and in a bush administration, it will not do it. I took on the teachers union, Hillary Clintons first endorsement was the teachers union. The second was the other teachers union. I will struggle and fight for the families that want a better education for their families. And florida we did just that. The second statewide voucher program, and the third statewide voucher system. As president , i will fight for families that only want a quality education for their children because they know that is the great civil rights of our time. I will be a conservative candidate, embracing conservative values and i will do it just as i did the state of florida. Prolife, prosecond amendment, embracing family life. We need a president that does just that as well. As president , one of the first orders of business is to repeal obama care and replace it with a Market Driven system. And i can promise you i will be a 10th amendment president , focused on shifting power back to our states to allow us to create a 21st century government. Washington cannot do it, but i believe in New Hampshire, florida, and across the country, if you give the power back to the state they can craft 21st Century Solutions for health care and providing to those who need help breaking out of poverty. We can do this but it requires someone with proven leadership skills and i have those skills. [applause] jeb bush we also need someone that can defeat Hillary Clinton in the fall. [applause] jeb bush not just Hillary Clinton, apparently Bernie Sanders as well. Look, we are living in dangerous times. Heres what i know to be true having a front row seat watching history unfold. The next president will be confronted with a challenge we have not identified. An opportunity we might miss. Who do you want to serve as president of the United States . Who do you want to lead this country . [crowd chanting] jeb bush do you want somebody like Hillary Clinton or donald trump that will pursue their ambitions at the expense of service to the people who truly need the help . That is why of running for the presidency of the United States and why im so grateful to the people of New Hampshire. You have given me the chance to go to South Carolina where we will do really well thanks to you all. Thank you very much. Thank you for all of your help. [crowd chanting] during campaign 2016, cspan takes you on the road to the white house as we follow the candidates on cspan, cspan radio, and cspan. Org. Senator ted cruz speaks to New Hampshire supporters. The Iowa Caucuses winner is expected to finish in the top four in the New Hampshire primary. Sen. Cruz what an incredible, incredible evening. We made history tonight. You, the good people of New Hampshire and our volunteers across this nation. [applause] sen. Cruz our state chairman, [applause] sen. Cruz and our other directors. [applause] sen. Cruz the exact results are on, but right now it appears we are effectively about the third in the state of New Hampshire. That was the result all of us were told was not possible. To gather we have done what the pundits and media said that not be done. And what the washington as tablet meant desperately hoped would not be done. [cheers and applause] senator cruz one week ago, always the media predicted we would be gone. We are not gone. [indiscernible] sen. Cruz my opponents attacked me, promising even more pandemonium and lobbyist spent millions of dollars in attack ads against our campaign. And yet the people of viola put their country and Children First the people of the iowa put their country and Children First. And this week, history repeated itself. Once again, the talking heads and washington insiders were confident our wave of support would break against the rock. That is what we were told. We could not do well in the state of New Hampshire. We were told that over and over again and tonight the men and women here and all across this great state proved them wrong. [cheers and applause] sen. Cruz i want to congratulate donald trump on his impressive win. And, john kasich had a good night. But the real winner is the conservative grassroots. [cheers and applause] who propelled us to an outright victory in iowa and far stronger results and outcome in New Hampshire then anyone predicted. [cheers and applause] now, we go on to south or alina. The palmetto state. And yes, washington liberals may find South Carolina far less [indiscernible] and on to nevada and super tuesday. [cheers and applause] and the voters will have a choice, and do we want a campaign with someone who talks a good game but does not walk the walk or do we want a conservative candidate with a proven record. In iowa, and New Hampshire, and all across the nation we are seeing the old Reagan Coalition coming together. But conservatives and even libertarians, at young people and reagan democrats, especially reagan democrats, the bluecollar working class of the democrat party. If republicans are going to win in november 2016, we have to win for the safe of our kids and grandkids. If we are going to win, we have to win over the democrats. And to do so, we must stand up with them against sanders. [cheers and applause] sen. Cruz we cannot win by nominating a candidate with the same policy on amnesty as Hillary Clinton. We need to be unequivocally against obamacare. [cheers and applause] sen. Cruz we cannot win by nominating a candidate with the same policy as obamacare and national defense. And for petes sake, we dont need more [indiscerinble] senator cruz we do not need more capitulation. We need a proven, principled leader who stands with the people. [crowd chanting] we want ted. We want ted. We want ted. Sen. Cruz we must defend the constitution. Marriage and religious liberty. And always defend the second amendment. [cheers and applause] sen. Cruz we need to faithfully apply the constitution. And because of tonight, the voters will have a clear choice. We are here today because each and every one of you and because of over 200,000 volunteers nationwide. We are here today because of over 800,000 contributions people nationwide going to ted cruz. Org. Ted cruz. Org. Tedcruz. Org. And a courageous conservatives testing the word texting the word donate. We are here because of you. Your passion and commitment to rebuilding our military. For standing with the soldiers, sailors, marines, and coast guard and honoring our veterans and keeping this nation safe. [applause] sen. Cruz the most important question in this race is, who is prepared to be commander in chief. [chanting] ted, ted, ted, ted, ted. Sen. Cruz who has the judgment, the temperament, the experience, the knowledge, the clarity of vision and the strength of resolve to stand by our friends and allies and defeat our enemies to defeat radical islamic terrorism . [applause] sen. Cruz we have gone a long way to answering that question. Thank you, New Hampshire, for two nights results. Your victory tonight has left the Washington Cartel utterly terrified. [applause] sen. Cruz so now, on to South Carolina. On to nevada. On to [cheers and applause] sen. Cruz we have put washington on the run and tonight is a victory for we the people. And this election, this primary and this general election in november 2016 will be a victory for the hardworking men and women who want to believe again in the profit the promise of america against the bipartisan of corruption of washington which, mark my words, well and on january 20. Will end up on january will end on january 20. Thank you. God bless New Hampshire and god bless each and every one of you. [applause] on todays washington journal, the results of the new capture primary. Then we look ahead to the republican primary in South Carolina and Nevada Democratic caucuses the same day. Washington journal is live every day at 7 00 a. M. Eastern, and you can join the conversation on facebook and twitter. From theterm threat zika virus is the topic of a House Foreign Affairs subcommittee hearing today. Centers for Disease Control director tom friedman is among the witnesses testifying on stunning the spread of the virus in the americas. Live coverage starts at 1 15 on cspan3. Every election cycle, we are reminded how important it is for citizens to be informed. Home for cspan is a political junkies and a way to track the government as it happens. I think it is a great way for us to stay informed. There are a lot of cspan fans on the hill. My colleagues will say i saw you on cspan. There is so much more that cspan does to make sure that people outside the beltway know what is going on inside it. Next, republican president ial candidate marco rubio speaks to supporters in hollis. He is projected to finish fifth. [cheers and applause] [crowd chanting marco] sen. Rubio thank you. Thank you. Thank you so much. Thank you so much. [crowd chanting marco] sen. Rubio thank you. Thank you. About 30 minutes ago i called donald trump. I congratulated him on a big win will stop he deserves congratulations, he worked hard and did well. No, he worked very hard and he earned his victory and i congratulated him on that and i want to thank all of you. I know you worked very hard. Our team here in New Hampshire did a phenomenal job. You worked incredibly hard and i am grateful. Now, we are still watching to see where things wind up, but i can tell you i am disappointed with tonight. But i went you to understand something, i want you to understand something. Our disappointment tonight is not on you. It is on me. It is on me. I did not do well on saturday night. Listen to this, that will never happen again. [cheering and applause senator rubio it will never happen again. And, let me tell you why. Let me tell you why. Let me tell you i will never happen again. It is not about me. It is not about the campaign, it is about this election. That is about this election. It is about what is at stake in this election. For the last seven years, we have a president that has been doing tremendous damage to this country. Tremendous damage. We have a president who is trying to redefine the relationship between government and our economy. Taking over our health care system. He thinks every solution to every problem is a tax increase. He is doing damage and undermining the constitution. Wage war on the second amendment. Under minding undermining religious liberties. Doing damage around the world. A president who views us as an arrogant country that needs to be cut down to size so he cuts down our military and betrays our allies. In this election, we have to decide if were going to keep doing this. We will keep doing it if Hillary Clinton is elected. If Bernie Sanders is elected. If they win, all of the damage barack obama did to america becomes permanent. That is why they cannot win. That is why they cannot win this election. That is why we must win this election and we will win this election. [applause] sen. Rubio we will win this election. We will win this election and we must win this election. Thank you. We must win this election because of we do not win this election we may lose our country. If we dont win this election, my children and yours will not inherit the greatest nation in the history of the world which is what our parents and grandparents left for us. Tonight, we did not wind up where we wanted to be but that does not change where we will wind up at the end of this process. [cheers and applause] sen. Rubio and it is on nights like tonight and on moment such as these that i am reminded that my family has faced rate challenge their entire lives. I remember one story in particular when i was shown, i mustve been someyearsold going on eightyearsold. My father left lost a job. He had not worked for 20 years as a bartender and when he got to las vegas the only jobs he could find was as a bus boy. After 20 years of working as a bartender, this gentleman was carrying buckets of ice and cleaning glasses. With bartenders half his age and not even 1 10 of his expense. It was humbling, it was hard. But he was not frightful. He understood it was not about him, it was about us. My father, more than halfway through his life, was willing to do whatever it took so that our future could be better. That is the challenge before our country now. Not all the days will be great days. We will not always get what we want. But at the end of the day, i am confident not only will this country be successful, that we will be successful as well. This nation will we discover and we embrace the principles that made her great. I am confident [cheers and applause] sen. Rubio i am confident because for over two centuries americans in the end have always gotten it right. And each generation before us have done what needed to be done and i know with all my heart and will do what needs to be done in this generation to leave for our children what they deserve to it hurt. A new american country. The greatest nation on earth. That is what we will do in this election. So, New Hampshire, [crowd chanting marco] sen. Rubio New Hampshire, i thank you for welcoming us. I thank you for this no caps on my kids had a great time. I think you for your vote, for the hours you gives on the phones and the doors that you not. I thank you. You will see is again because we are coming back in november to win the general election. [applause and chanting marco] [ chanting] and new england, maine, vermont, massachusetts, we will see you in a few weeks. We are going to come to win. And South Carolina, we are on the way. Thank you and god bless you. Thank you. [chanting] Marco Marco Marco [cheers and applause] announcer during campaign 2016, cspan takes you on the road to the white house. As we follow the candidates on cspan, cspan radio, and cspan. Org. Announcer now remarks by Chris Christie speaking to supporters in nashua. Governor christie projected to finish and they bottom half of the top nine candidates in the New Hampshire republican primary , announced that he and his family would return to new jersey and assess their future plans for the president ial race. He was joined onstage by his wife and children and fellow governor larry hogan of maryland. [applause] governor christie all right. Good evening. [cheers and applause] good evening. Good evening. Thank you very much. Mary,of all, on behalf of pat, and all four of the children, we want to say thank you to our New Hampshire family, very, very much. [applause] we see so many of you here tonight who have made New Hampshire home for us in such a significant way for the last nine months. We have worked incredibly hard up here, spent so much time. And we do not regret one minute of the time we spent here in hampshire. I am looking at old friends and new friends, folks like tom solins who know i was honored to serve with. I am honored by his support. [applause] when you come to a new state, you always want a share by your side. It never herds. Hill, you have been by our side the entire way. [applause] though greiner has been as loyal a friend and supporter to us as we could ask for. Thank you for your help. [applause] we want to thank rene and Danny Plummer who have been extraordinary supporters. [applause] and senatora cytec , a dynamic duo of supporters for us. Boy, do we love them both. And we thank you both very, very much. [applause] from our veterans, there are so many of them who have stood by us. Mr. Brothers, Sergeant Major chevalier, you know, the havees, so many folks who been wonderful to us. We love the veteran Community Across this country and we especially love our veterans in New Hampshire. They deserve much better treatment than they have in getting across this country. And we will make sure that they do. [applause] we have our fifth child here. [laughter] over, who we have adopted the course of the last number of months. Siena. Up for [applause] and last, but certainly not least, the man who stepped forward and became our Campaign Chairman in the straight this stay. No one or it harder for us or was more loyal to us, nor will we toady greater debt than to wayne mcdonald. Thank you. [applause] we came to New Hampshire to bring a message. There is nothing more important than the safety and security of and that thepeople next president of the United States must pay much more attention to that than the current one has. We came to New Hampshire to say the government needs to us again work for the people, not the people work for the government. We came here to say that education should not put our for the next 20 or 30 years of their life. We have to do better than that as a country for the next generation. We came to say for our seniors, someone needs to stand up and fix the Social Security system and fix the medicare system so there doesnt fail them or bankrupt our country. Thate came here to say speaking your mind matters, that experience matters, that confidence matters, and that it will always matter in leading our nation. That message was heard by a lot of folks. Stood for by a lot of folks here in New Hampshire. Just night enough, not enough tonight. And thats ok. For the people who have known me for a long time, i have both won elections that i was supposed to lose and i have lost elections that i was supposed to living supposed to win. What that means is you never know. As both the magic and them mystery of politics, that you never quite know when, which, or what is going to happen. So we leave New Hampshire tonight without announce regret. Not for the time weve spent and for the thousands of people tonight in New Hampshire who voted for us, we thank each and every one of them, for the confidence that that vote andesents in us as people in us as servants. Hogan, governor paul lepage, Governor Charlie Baker are all people who understand both the burden and the opportunity of having the final decision to make in a place like a safe. And i was so proud to have their support for president of the United States. For folks who actually know what it is like to make a decision and held accountable for, to have their support has been an extraordinary display of loyalty and friendship. So to governor hogan, who is and, and governor lepage governor baker come i thank them for their camaraderie come other understanding, and their love. [applause] i want to congratulate donald trump on his victory tonight here in New Hampshire. No, no, listen. You know what . Winning is never easy and no one has ever been given a victory. And the New HampshireRepublican Party tonight has spoken clearly that mr. Trump is a preference in this election. And he deserves congratulations for that. Therace will continue down road to South Carolina and the other states as we move forward. The for New Hampshire, the have chosen their candidate tonight and he deserve congratulations for that. Mary pat and i have decided we are going to go to new jersey tomorrow and take a deep breath, see what the final results are ,onight because that matters whether we are six or fifth or how the final votes for candidates because so many New Hampshire residents came out to vote today, it will take a wild to count these votes. So we are going to go take a while. So we are going to go home. Onight theres no reason to go sit in South Carolina in a hotel room to hear that. We havent been home for two weeks. So we can actually get a change of clothes. [laughter] which would be a nice thing. So we will go home to new jersey tomorrow morning. Decision on our next step forward based upon the results that were completed here in New Hampshire. And andrewf mary pat and sarah and patrick and bridget, we want to thank all of you for your friendship, for your support, for your love, for your confidence, and for your encouragement. We also thank the rest of our family who is here. My dad and his wife fran, my brother todd. [applause] and my and your sister don, who i know is watching at home and knows that i feel her love as i and standing up here, the way i always do. So to our friends and her supporters, we still have work to do and i were them and i am looking forward in doing that work. To do both over the course of time. We thank our staff, all of the members of the christie campaign, the campaign did more groupess than any other in america. [applause] and that means the folks who ran folks yeah,he you can apply for them. [applause] applaud for them. [applause] our National Finance chairman, larry wiberg. Knows more about New Hampshire than and a guy from new jersey i have ever met in my life. Matt mauer. [cheers and applause] i was thrilled to have him as a member of my team since 2009. And i hope he continues to be one. To the people of New Hampshire and to the people of our country hero watching tonight come i say think you for your confidence, your support, for taking the things we have had to say. You know me. I wont stop talking. I will continue to speak out about the issues that i speak out. Will continue to work really really hard. For my family, for my stage, and for my country, i thank you all very much. [applause] announcer road to the white house began in iowa. The caucuses that date back to 1972. Then we move to New Hampshire, the quintessential starter the primary, which has a long history. Now we begin to test the candidates and their message. We move south to South Carolina, the First Southern primary. And then to the Party Caucuses in nevada for the democrats and republicans. More than likely, we will see a number of candidates probably drop out of the race within the field will narrow. Then we move into early march. Ther tuesday, it means that count is critical. We will get a sense of his message is resonating. Announcer remarks by republican president ial candidate Carly Fiorina. She spoke to supporters on primary night from the dairy field country club in New Hampshire where she was joined by her husband frank. [cheers and applause] Carly Fiorina thank you so much. Thank you. [applause] frank and i have to tell you the truth, we have sort of fallen in love with New Hampshire. Live free or die Carly Fiorina live free or die, exactly. We could not have had a better chairman. Betty figured it out first. She brought open along. Thank you for all you have done. [applause] Carly Fiorina as frank and i have walked to the room here tonight, it is so wonderful to recognize everybody here. You have all become friends. As i said, we have in love with New Hampshire. It is true. You have become friends, supporters. How many of you have come up to the oath of us over the course of the last year and said, keep going. Keep going. You have given us the energy to keep going. You are giving us wind at our back tonight. We have a long way to go in terms of knowing how things will settle out but we feel very encouraged. You have given us wind at our back. As ive said too many of you as i walked to in the room tonight, were going to keep going. Cheers and applause] [cheers and applause] [crowd chanting carly] it was New Hampshire that first got me started inking about running for president. A man in a rotary club told me we dont think of ourselves as a nation with limited lists with limitless prospects anymore. We know we can do so much better than our politics today, our government today, our lack of leadership today. We can do so much better by remembering who we are and restoring a citizen government once again to this great nation. I am committed to my highest calling as a leader and you have given me the energy and determination and wind at our back to continue this great fight. What i have to say as we traveled and fell in love with New Hampshire since we started in a when none of you had ever heard of us. Really. Most of you had never heard of us. And everywhere both of us went, you are so welcoming and so warm in and so intent on hearing what i had to say. For that i am forever grateful and i think we know i think we know what is at stake. The passion and the energy and the determination that you have shown to lift this campaign from where nobody had ever heard of us to even when they try and shut us out, Everybody Knows we are talking. You have done that. [cheers and applause] you have done that. I am not going to sit down and be quiet and neither are you. [applause] Carly Fiorina i am not going to settle for the things the way they are. And neither are you. I am not going to accept a system that no longer works for us and neither are you. [applause] Carly Fiorina and so our fight is just beginning. This fight is just beginning. So, friends, citizens, our great supporters here in New Hampshire, frank and i will carry you in our heart for the rest of this journey and it will be not the last time you hear me say, tonight will be the first of many times you hear me say, all throughout this nation, as ive said to you, stand with me. Fight with me. Vote for me. Because, citizens, it is time. We must take our country back. God bless you all. Thank you. [cheers and applause] [indistinct chatter] one of the things that should be talked about is the accountability that is pervasive and i hope the candidates will start to talk about that. The candidate we are supporting his Bernie Sanders because hes the only candidate that will make the changes we need. Isnt broken, its fixed. We need to make it right. Rubio is a great candidate and he will be able to fix the economy. The results of the New Hampshire primary and the South Carolina republican primary in caucuses. Democratic the greatest president s have been willing to recognize they werent the smartest person in the room and surround them selves with people that they thought were smarter than them. Gates talks about his book. He served under several president s. At the end of the cold war, i believed very strongly that the American People have given the because of this existential conflict with the soviet union. I believe we were going to have to be more open about what we did and why we did it and how to help the American People better understand my intelligence is important. Announcer now we hear from jeb bush speaking to supporters at Manchester Community college. Mr. Bush is projected to finish in the top five in the republican primary behind donald trump and john kasich. Jeb bush thank you. Thank you for all your hard work. To palombo, 2. 0, lindsay, to chuck morse, jim adams, the whole amazing team of volunteers in New Hampshire and those that travel from florida and around the country to come participate. And germany. Thank you so much for ink hair. [applause] mr. Bush the pundits had it all figured out last night when the Iowa Caucuses were complete, they said the race was now between two freshmen senators and a reality tv star. While the reality tv star is still doing well, it looks like you all have reset the race and for that i am rifle. Out of stators we are electing the president of the United States, the person who has to make tough these visions. I am grateful to have the opportunity. Along the way, i did a lot of listening and learning, something i think is important in public leadership. I learned from a woman right behind me, who is a leader in the recovery movement. We have an epidemic of addiction in the United States and i learned we can fix it if we all act on our heart to make sure our families and loved ones have a second chance. I learned from erik paulsen in the Londonderry Chamber of commerce, the guy who is expanding his microbrewery business, it he is waiting for a stamp inside the department of treasury, a stamp created during the prohibition era. It will take six months. He is finance equipment, he is ready to sell more craft beer, but because of the bureaucrats and washington, d. C. , he cannot do that. I will fix that. I promise you. I have learned first hand of the state and the country that are waiting for the department of Veterans Affairs for phil their contract with the veterans. [applause] open bracket jeb bush not just Hillary Clinton, apparently Bernie Sanders as well. That is why of running for the presidency of the United States and why im so grateful to the people of New Hampshire. You have given me the chance to go to South Carolina where we will do really well thanks to you all. Thank you very much. Thank you for all of your help. [crowd chanting] onwill follow the candidates cspan. Now senator ted cruz speaks to supporters in hollis, New Hampshire. Expected to finish in the top four in the New Hampshire primary. [cheers and applause] sen. We need to be unequivocally against [indiscernible] [cheers and applause] sen. Cruz we cannot win by nominating a candidate with the same policy as obamacare and national defense. And for petes sake, we dont need more [indiscernible] [cheers and applause] senator cruz we do not need more capitulation. Marco rubio speaks to supporters, projected to finish fifth. [applause and chanting marco] sen. Rubio into new england, maine, vermont, massachusetts, we will see you in a few weeks. We are going to come and win. And South Carolina, we are on the way thank you and god bless you. Thank you. [applause] the road to the white house began in iowa and we moved to New Hampshire. It has a long and rich history. We really begin to test the candidates and their message. Caucuses. He party narrow and we move into early march. The delegate count will be critical. Remarks by Chris Christie speaking to supporters. Projected in the bottom half of the top nine. He is joined on stage by his wife and children. [applause] governor christie we have our fifth child here. Siena, who we have adopted over the course of the last number of months, give it up for siena. Last but not least, the man who became our Campaign Chairman in this state, nobody works harder for us, more loyal to us, nor will the only greater depth in our chairman, wayne mcdonald. Thank you very much. [applause] gov. Christie we came to New Hampshire to bring the message. There is nothing more important than the safety and security of the American People in it the next president must pay more attention to that in the current one has. We came to New Hampshire to say that the government is to work for the people, not the people work for the government. We came here to say that education should not put our children in debt for the next 2030 years and we have to do better than that is a country for the next generation. We came to say that for our seniors, that somebody needs to stand up and fix the Social Security system in fixed in governor christie we have our fifth child here. We came to say that for our seniors, that somebody needs to stand up and fix the Social Security system in fixed in medicare systems that it doesnt feel them are bankrupt our country and we came here to say that speaking your mind matters, that experience matters, that confidence matters, and that it will always matter. The message was heard by a lot of folks. And it was stood for by a lot of folks here in New Hampshire, just not enough. Not enough tonight. And that is ok. For the people who love know me for a long time and there are a lot of folks who have i have a one elections that i was supposed to lose and i have lost elections it was supposed to win. And what that means is you never know. It is both the magic and mystery of politics. They never quite know when which is going to happen. And so, we leave New Hampshire tonight without an ounce of regret. Not for the time we have spent, and for the thousands of people tonight in New Hampshire, we think each and every one of them for the confidence that that vote represents a mouse as people and in us as servers. Governor larry hogan, governor paul lepage, Governor Charlie Baker are all people who understand both the burden in the opportunity of having a final decision to make in a place like a state and im so proud, so proud to have their support for president of the United States because for folks who actually know what it is like to make a decision can be held accountable for it, to have their support has been an extraordinary display of loyalty, and friendship, for governor hogan, and governor lepage, and governor baker, who i know are watching, i think them for their friendship, camaraderie, understanding, and her love. [applause] gov. Christie i want to congratulate donald trump in his victory tonight. No listen winning is never easy. Nobody has ever given a victory in the people of New Hampshires Republican Party tonight has spoken very clearly that mr. Trump is their preference in this selection he deserves congratulations for that. The race will continue down the road to South Carolina and the other states as a move forward but for New Hampshire, they have chosen their candidate tonight and he deserves congratulations for that and he has both my and my wifes congratulations so he to he and his family. We spoke tonight we decided that we are going to go home to new jersey tomorrow and we are going to take a deep breath, see what the final results are tonight, whether we are fifth of six, because so many New Hampshire residents cannot devote today. It is good to go out to count the votes. We are going to go home to wake up by tomorrow afternoon, we should know, we should note the vote count is in that will allow us to make a decision about how we move from here in this race. But there is no reason to go to South Carolina and a hotel room to hear that. We will go home we havent been home for two weeks. So we can actually get a change of clothes. Shall be a nice thing. Thats right. So we will go home to new jersey tomorrow morning, we will make a decision on our next step forward based upon the results that come here completed here in New Hampshire. On behalf of mary pat and andrew and sarah and patrick in bridget, we want to thank all of you for your friendship, for your support, for your love, for your confidence, and for your encouragement. We also thank the rest of our family who is here, my dad, his wife, my brother. [applause] in my younger sister, don, who i know is watching at home and who does it the way i always do. To our friends and our supporters, we have work to do. And i am looking forward to doing the work and continuing to move forward our agenda for the nation, and for the state that i serve and we will continue to do both of for the course of time. We think our staff, all the members of the campaign, the campaign who did more with less than any campaign in america. [applause] gov. Christie that means the folks that ran the campaign, the folks yeah, sure, you can applaud for them. [applause] gov. Christie our National Finance chairman ray washburn. [applause] gov. Christie in the guy who knows more about New Hampshire than any guy from new jersey ive ever met in my life, matt mauers. [applause] [cheering] gov. Christie i was thrilled to have him as a member of my teams as 2009 i hope he always continues to be one, so to the people of New Hampshire and to the people of our country who are watching tonight, i say thank you for your confidence, your support, for your taking the time to listen, to the things we have had to say, you know me, i will not stop talking. I will continue to speak out about the issues that i care about, we will continue to work really hard together. And we will move down the road from here based upon the results tonight in what is best for my family, for my state, and for my country. And i thank you all very much. [applause] announcer next, remarks by president ial candidate Carly Fiorina. She spoke to reporters from the derry filled country club in manchester, New Hampshire, where she was joined a her husband frank. [applause] Carly Fiorina thank you so much, thank you. Carly fiorina frank and i have to tell you the truth, we have sort of fallen in love with New Hampshire. Cheers and applause] [cheers and applause] [crowd chanting carly] Carly Fiorina it was New Hampshire that first got me started inking about running for president. [cheers and applause] Carly Fiorina you have done that. Thank you. [cheers and applause] i will stand my ground i wont back down you can stand me up at the gates of hell and i wont back down you did great. Were going to do it. We are going to do it. Dont you worry. Carly fiorina i know. Can you sign this year but here . My mother here, you actually sign my book and i just want to thank you in person so much for doing that and may i have a [insertable] one of the volunteers told me he told you to wear white for the debate. Carly fiorina i will, do not worry. Thank you. [indistinct chatter] ms. Fiorina thank you. [indistinct conversations] what is your name . Ok. Smile. There you go. Thank you. [indistinct conversations] good luck. Thank you for all your help. Currently, thank you again. Thank you again. Are going to we keep going. [indistinct conversations] ms. Fiorina, thank you for everything you have done. Fiorina thank you. Dont you worry. Thank you very much. [indistinct conversations] thank you so much for what you are doing. Ms. Fiorina thanks for your help. Thank you so much. Thank you. You did well. [indistinct conversations] issues isthe biggest education. I am also union president. One of the things that should be is accountability. I hope the candidates will talk about that. Thank you. The candidate we are supporting is Bernie Sanders. He is the only candidate who is going to make the changes that we need to get our country back to being a democracy. The system is not broken. We need to make it right for the average american. He speaks the truth. Bewe are the one who will affected. He is able to fix the economy. During campaign 2016, cspan takes you on the road to the white house. As we follow the candidates on cspan, cspan radio, and cspan. Org. Next, heller he clinton speaks to supporters at southern a Hampshire University at hooksett, New Hampshire. Behind vermontnd senator Bernie Sanders. She was joined by former president clinton and her daughter chelsea. [applause] clinton thank you so much. Thank you very much. Thank you. Thank you, my friends. Thank you. Hank you all st want to begin [crowd chanting hillary ] thank you very much. My goodness. I do not know what we have done if we had actually won. This is a pretty exciting event and i am very grateful to all of you. I want to begin by congratulating senator sanders on his victory tonight. And i want to thank each and everyone of you. I want to say i still love New Hampshire and i always will. I still love New Hampshire and i always will. [applause] heres what we are going to do. Now we take this campaign to the entire country. We are going to fight for every vote in every state. State. We are going to fight for Real Solutions that make a real difference in peoples lives. When i started this campaign, i knew we were facing profound challenges. As a country. The way too many things were going just wasnt right. It is not right. The kids i met in flint on sunday were poisoned because the governor wanted to save money. It is not right. A grandmother here in New Hampshire shouldnt have to choose between paying rent and buying medicine because of Prescription Drug company increased the price 4000 . Overnight. And it isnt right to the met is the cashier i paid less than her son for doing the same work even the she has been on the job more years. Now, people have every right to be angry. But they are also hungry for solutions. What are we going to do . [applause] that is the fights we are taking to the country. What is the best way to change peoples lives so we can all Grow Together . Who is the best change maker . you are i will work harder than anyone to make the changes that will make your lives better. And i both want to get secret unaccountable money out of politics. Letter member, let your member, s united was the Worst Supreme Court decision in our countrys history. It was actually a case about a rightwing attack on me and my campaign. A rightwing organization took aim at me and ended up damaging our entire democracy. You are not going to find anybody more committed to aggressive Campaign Finance reform than me. [applause] we also agree that wall street can never be allowed to once again threatened main street. And i will fate fight to rein in wall street and i know how to do it. [applause] when i tell you no bank should be too big to fail has no executive to powerful to jail, you know i believe it. We need to build a growth and fairness economy. Higher wages, good paying jobs. A Bold National mission to create millions of jobs in clean energy, manufacturing and infrastructure. Including a Bold National mission to create millions of jobs in clean energy. Manufacturing, and infrastructure. We need to unleash the innovation of our small businesses. Make it easier for parents to balance work and family. Crack down on corporations that game the system. Stop other countries from taking advantage of us. With unfair trade practices. But even all that is not enough. We have to break through the barriers of bigotry. Africanamerican parents should not have to worry that their children will be harassed and even shot because of the color of their skin. [applause] immigrant families shouldnt have to lie awake at night worrying about a knock on the door. [applause] lgbt americans should not be fired from their jobs because of who they are or whom they love. And lets deliver something long overdue, equal pay for women in this economy. [applause] here is how i see it. A president has to do all parts of the job for all americans. To make sure nothing holds you back. Not debt, not discrimination not a deck that is only stacked for those at the top. We need to break down barriers and build letters of opportunity for every person. That is how we will build a better tomorrow together and that has been the cause and the work of my life. Faithow, my family and my taught me a simple credo. Do all the good you can in all the ways you can for all the people you can. That is what called me to a life of service. Just like millions of teachers and nurses and Police Officers and firefighters and members of our armed services. Who get up every day and do the quite work, the heroic work for all the rest of us. But when children anywhere in our country go to bed hungry or are denied a quality education, or who face abuse or abandoned us abandonment, that diminishes all of us. That is when i started my career at the childrens defense fund. I went undercover in alabama to fight racism in the schools. That is why i went to flint michigan on sunday. [applause] when people anywhere in america are held back by injustice, that demands action. That is why i believe so strongly that we have to keep up with every fiber of our being the argument for campaigns for human rights. Womens rights, gay rights, workers rights. Human rights as voting rights. Human rights across the board for every single american. [applause] that is who i am, that is what ive always done, that is why i am in this race. I know i have some work to do particularly with young people but i will say again what i said this week. Even if they are not supporting me now i support them. [applause] because i know i have led a blessed life but i also know what it is like to stumble and fall. And so many people in america know that feeling and we have learned it is not whether you get knocked down that matters, it is whether you get back up. [applause] my friends, please, join me in building on the progress of we have made under president pushing forward every single day to break down those barriers that hold us back. We have got to believe in the basic proposition of our country. When all americans have a chance to succeed. Everybody has the opportunity to live up to our godgiven potential. Then and only then can america live up to its potential as well. [applause] let me thank all of you. Im very grateful to my wonderful family knowing they are by my side. He keeps me going every day. [applause] to the thousands of volunteers and organizers who called neighbors and knocked on doors in the New Hampshire snow. To everyone who went to Hillary Clinton. Com. To give what you could, more than 700,000 people have contributed to this campaign. The vast majority giving less than a hundred dollars. Not fit withoes the narrative. There are those who want to deny the passion and the purpose you show every day for this campaign. You are the reason we are here and you are the reason we are going to win the nomination and then win the election together. Thank you so much. [applause] [applause] [fight song by Rachel Platten plays] [applause] cycle willection remind us how important it is for citizens to be informed. This is a way to track the government as it happens. Is a great way for us to stay informed. There are a lot of cspans on the hill cspan fans on the hill. There is so much more that sees vendors to ensure that people have [indiscernible] and what is going on inside it. New hampshire primary runnerup Governor John Kasich who spoke to supporters in concord where he was joined onstage by former senator johnson and new. Sununu. Governor kasich i want to congratulate donald trump on his victory. He won fair and square but i dixville notch. [applause] while first of all my daughters and we are all happy because they are not driving tomorrow. Family, myut my daughters and my great wife. [applause] and here in New Hampshire i have to tell you there is no way i would have gone forward with this campaign if it was not for john sununu. [applause] is such a great partner. He is so smart and he is so disciplined and he is a great, great friend of mine and we also want to spend a little time thinking former senator Gordon Humphrey. [applause] 1 in the National Polls and people are like, how could you ever win and things are we are walking in a total obscurity appear. Gordon humphrey since me an email and he says this is the hot plate that change the world. Guys are sleeping on mattresses in the Campaign Headquarters and the holed up a hot plate where they are eating their food. That is how you win elections. And of course our great friend tom rath, the former attorney general. He has been one of the best guys. 17 years ago i came here and i thought things were going ok. I was not getting a lot of attention and was standing in the kitchen and i was talking to this lady and i thought, i got lf a town chairperson. After 15 minutes she said, when will the candidate get here, can you tell us . The guys who stuck with me for 17 years, bruce berkie. [applause] come on up here. And listen, i want to tell you to say this no way appropriately. When the media kept saying, how are you going to do this, can , i said i have an insurance policy. It is you. It is all of you. How does a guy like me thank you for the countless hours, the phone calls, the doorknocking, some of you have come from of course our Buckeye State and from virginia and some have come from maryland and new york and connecticut and today all the way from seattle. The way from seattle and new haven. A guy flew in from london, england to do this. [applause] but you know, there is something that is going on. Then i am not sure that anyone can quite understand. There is magic in the air with this campaign because we do not see it as just another campaign. We see this as an opportunity for all of us and i mean all of us. To be involved in something that is bigger than our own lives. To change america, to resign dashed to reshine america and to restore the spirit of america and to leave no one behind. That is what we are about. Something big happened tonight. We have had tens of millions of dollars spent against us with negative advertising. [booing] we have. That is the old politics. We never went negative because we have more good to sell than to spend our time being critical of somebody else. [applause] and maybe, maybe just maybe, at a time when clearly change is in the air, maybe just maybe we are turning the page on a dark part of american politics because tonight the light overcame the darkness of negative campaigning. [applause] kasich and you made it happen. You made it happen. You made it happen. [applause] Kasich KasichKasich Kasich you know, we are conservatives here. We believe government is a last resort and not as a first resort. As i like to talk about the strength of our country and if you think about the american home, which is the family, we know the family is only strong when the foundation is strong. That is why we will wake up every single day to make sure every american has a job, and their neighbors. [applause] kasich when i am president of the United States [cheering and applause] kasich first of all, you know, we will have a battering ram to knock down the walls of the city if they dont want to change. It is what i have done all of my lifetime. But here is what we will tell people and i hope you agree. We will solve the problems in america not by being extreme, not by being a republican or democrat, but by reminding people that we are americans. We are dedicated to fixing our problems. [applause] kasich this campaign has changed me. The wonderful people of New Hampshire have changed me. And i want to tell you how it happened. Happened in if it the first 25 town halls, or the second to 25, or the third 25, but as we got closer and closer the hundreds of town halls the 106th we finished on people for some reason are able to come to these town halls and feel safe. A man came the other day and he was crying and the end of the town hall and he put his arms around me and said, my son has cancer. I feel as though i did not warn him. I said, sir, it is a tragedy and terrible, but it is not your fault. He communicated to somebody the other day and said that conversation lifted a weight off of his shoulders. And he came from new york to tell me his story. And some of you remember the woman who was sitting wake up in the seats and she told the story of her daughter who had been sick. She felt all alone and i asked her to come down and i hugged that woman and we all cried a little bit that night. Now, when you are in settings like that you begin to learn something. They are too many people in america who dont feel connected. They have got victories that no one celebrates with them. And they have defeats and pains that sometimes, they have to absorb themselves. I will tell you what i think we need. We need this Economic Growth and job creation. At the heart and soul of the United States of america, the america i grew up in, where my father stuck his nose into everybodys business and brought some joy in a time of triumph and was able to be on a step and cry with them when they lost somebody they loved. ,hat is the america that i know where we slow down our lives. Just slow down, look them in the eye, give them a hug. It doesnt take government. It takes our hearts. Our hearts to change america and in this campaign i have been convinced even more about what it takes to win a Political Campaign and what it takes for someone to be a leader. It is not just what is up here in the head. It is also deep down here in the heart. The people of New Hampshire have taught me a lesson and from this day forward i will go slower and spent my time listening and healing and bringing people together. [cheering and applause] kasich thank you. [applause] [cheering] Kasich KasichKasich Kasich kasich listen, folks. I know the Networks Want to go. Bernie talked so long that i thought he was going to hit his 77th birthday before he got off stage. [laughter] Kasich Hillary needs to go to South Carolina because it is not working here. [applause] kasich and it is not going to work here for them next fall either because i am coming back to New Hampshire. [applause] [laughter] kasich how could any man be so lucky to have all of you . To be so happy about life and family and the fact that the lord has blessed me. We are at the beginning of this campaign season. Tonight we head to South Carolina and we will move from South Carolina all across this country. We will end up in the midwest and you just wait. There is so much that is going to happen. If you dont have a seatbelt, go get one. [applause] kasich thank you all and god bless you. [applause] one of the biggest issues that is not being talked about is education. One of the things that should be talked about is the accountability that is pervasive. I hope the candidates will start to talk about that. The candidate who is most important is Bernie Sanders bernie e, bernie , he is the only person who will get us back to america again. The system isnt broken. It isnt working for the average american. Ted chung will be a great president and be great for the economy. Next, a vermont senator Bernie Sanders speaks to supporters in concord. He won the primary by double digits. [applause] Bernie Sanders thank you,. New hampshire. [applause] Bernie Sanders shortly after the the polls closed, secretary clinton called and was very gracious in her congratulations. I thank her for her call and i congratulate her and her supporters or the Vigorous Campaign they ran. [applause] Bernie Sanders and let me take this opportunity to thank the many, many thousands of volunteers her eie in the Granite State who worked so tirelessly. [applause] our volunteers worked night and day, made phone calls, and knocked on a heck of a lot of doors, and we won because of your energy. Thank you all. [applause] sanders and i want to thank julia barnes and our Great Campaign staff. [applause] Bernie Sanders to gather we that sent a message will echo from wall street to washington, from maine to california. [applause] sanders and that is that the government of our great country belongs to all of the people and not just a handful of contributorsign and their superpacs. [applause] [cheering] Bernie Sanders nine months ago, we began our campaign here in New Hampshire. We had no campaign organization. We had no money. And we were taking on the most powerful Political Organization in the United States of america. [applause and cheering] sanders and tonight with what appears to be a recordbreaking voter turnout [applause] sanders because of a huge voter turnout and i say huge we won. Harnessed the we energy and excitement that the Democratic Party will need to succeed in november. [applause] Bernie Sanders what happened here in New Hampshire in terms electorate, iastic people who came out in large numbers, that is what will happen all over this country. And let us never forget democrats and progressives win when voter turnout is high. [applause] sanders republicans win when people are demoralized and voter turnout is low. Tice to theserve no political and Economic Establishment of this country that the American People will corruptinue to accept a Campaign Finance system that i undermining american democracy and we will not accept a rigged economy in which ordinary americans work longer hours for lower wages, while almost all new income and wealth goes to the top 1 . [applause] Bernie Sanders i want to take this opportunity again to congratulate secretary clinton and her organization and supporters for waging a Vigorous Campaign. I hope in the days ahead we can raise a strong, Issue Oriented Campaign and bring new people into the process. [applause] hopee sanders but i also that we all remember, and this is a message not just to our opponents, but to those who support me as well, that we will need to come together in a few you and i this party and this nation because the rightwing republicans we oppose must not be allowed tho gain the presidency. [applause] Bernie Sanders as we all remember, the last time republicans occupy the white house their trickledown economic helices drove us into the worst economic downturn since the depression of the 1930s. No, we will not allow huge taxbreaks for billionaires. Towill not allow tax cuts Social Security, medicare, medicaid, and education. [applause] Bernie Sanders no, we will not let back into the white house a Political Party which is so beholden to the fossil fuel industry that they cannot even acknowledge the scientific reality of climate change, let alone do anything about it. [applause] Bernie Sanders the people of New Hampshire have sent a profound message to the political establishment, to the Economic Establishment, and by the way, to the media establishment. [applause] [cheering] bernie, bernie, bernie. Sanders what the people here have said is that given the enormous crises facing our country, it is just too late for oldsame old, same establishment politics and establishment economics. The people want a real change. [applause] Bernie Sanders by the way, i hear this not just from progressives, but from conservatives and moderates. We can no longer continue to have a Campaign Finance systems in which wall street and the billionaire class are able to buy elections. [applause] Bernie Sanders americans, no matter what their political view may be, understand that that is not what democracy is about. That is what oligarchy is about. [applause] and we will not allow that to continue [applause] Bernie Sanders i do not have a superpac and i do not want a superpac [applause] sanders i am overwhelmed and i am deeply moved far more than i can express in works by campaignsat our Financial Support comes from more than one million americans than 3. 7ade more individualn contributions. [applause] sanders that is more individual contributions than any candidate in the history of the United States up to this point. [applause] sanders do you know what that average contribution was . 27 [applause] going tonders i am new york city tonight and tomorrow, but im not going to new york city to hold a fundraiser on wall street. [applause] imie sanders instead, going to hold a fundraiser right here, right now, across america. [applause] sanders my request is, please go to berniesanders. Com and contribute. [applause] please help us raise the funds 10, or whether it is 20, or 50. Help us raise the money we need to take the fight to nevada, South Carolina, and on super tuesday. [applause] Bernie Sanders so, there it is. That is the whole fundraiser, pretty quick. What the American People understand is that our great country was based on a simple principle. That principle is fairness. Let me be very clear. It is not fair when we have more income and wealth inequality today than in almost any major country on earth. Ownshen the top 1 10 of 1 almost as much wealth as the bottom 90 , that is not fair. [booing] sanders it is not fair when the 20 used wealthiest people in this country one of the 20 wealthiest people in this country own more than half of those with less. Together we are going to create an economy that works for all of us, not just the 1 [applause] Bernie Sanders and when millions of our people are working, were going to raise the minimum wage to 15 an hour. And we are going to bring pay equity for women. [applause] Bernie Sanders and when we need the best educated workforce in the world, yes, we are going to ake public colleges and universities tuitionfree. [applause] sanders and for the millions of americans struggling with horrendous levels of student debt, we are going to substantially ease that burden. [applause] america, nders in people should not be financially distressed for decades for the crime of trying to get a higher education. Thats absurd. [applause] well, mynders critics say, that is a great idea. How are you going to pay for it . I will tell you how. [applause] Bernie Sanders we are going to impose a tax on wall street speculation. [applause] greed, theers the recklessness, and the illegal behavior of wall street drove our economy to its knees. The American People bailed out wall street. Now, it is wall streets time to help the middle class. [applause] Bernie Sanders and when we talk about transforming america, it means ending the disgrace of this country having more people in jail than in any other country in the world, disproportionately latin latino. And not only are we going to fight end institutional racism and a broken criminal Justice System [applause] Bernie Sanders we are going to and education for our young people. Not jails and incarceration. [applause] me say, anders and let that as a member of the Energy Committee in the senate and the environmental committee, the de bate is over. Climate change is real. [applause] Bernie Sanders it is caused by human activity and it is already causing devastating problems in this country and around the world. We have a moral responsibility to work with countries throughout the world to transform our Energy System away from fossil fuels to Energy Efficiency and sustainable energy. [applause] Bernie Sanders i have been criticized during this campaign for many, many things. Every single day, thats ok. Thats alright. They are throwing everything at me except the kitchen sink and i have the feeling that kitchen sink is coming pretty soon as well. [laughter] but what ours campaign is about is thinking big, not small. It is about having the courage to change the status quo. [applause] sanders it is about a time when every major country guarantees health care for all of their people. We should be doing the same in our great country. [applause] sanders in my view on president obamas leadership, the Affordable Care act has been an important step forward, no question about it. That we can and must do better. [applause] sanders 29 million americans should not remain uninsured and even greater number should not be deductibles with and copayments. We should not be paying by far the highest prices in the world for Prescription Drugs at a time when of the top three Drug Companies in this country made 45 billion in profits last year. [booing] Bernie Sanders that is an obscenity and let me tell you something. When it we make it to the white house [applause] Bernie Sanders when we make it to the white house, the pharmaceutical industry will not continue to rip off the American People. [applause] further, itrs and makes no sense that as a nation we continue to spend far more per capital than do the people of any other nation, all of whom guarantee health care for all of their people. And that is why i believe in a medicare for all single pay program. [cheering and applause] Bernie Sanders which wilma only guarantee health care for all, not only will guarantee health care for all, but will save the average middleclass family thousands of dollars in costs. We on the we live in a dangerous and complex world. As president i will defend this nation, but i will do it responsibly. I voted against the war in iraq. [applause] Bernie Sanders and that was the right vote. Relentless inbe , we cannoterrorism and should not be the policeman of the world. [applause] ld wee sanders nor shou bear the burden of fighting terrorism alone. In the middle east the United States must be part of an International Coalition sustained by nations in the regions that have the means to protect themselves. Together we must and will destroy isis, but we should do it in a way that does not put women in the and military into perpetual warfare in the middle east. [applause] Bernie Sanders my friends, we must fix our broken immigration system that divides families and a path for citizenship. [applause] sanders we must strengthen and expand Social Security and increase the benefits that seniors and disabled vets receive so people can live in dignity in their retirement. [applause] must rebuilds we our crumbling infrastructure and when we do that, we bring millions of decent paying jobs. [applause] Bernie Sanders we must pursue the fight, or when the fight for gay rights, or disability rights. [applause] facee sanders we must stronger and stronger opposition and protect the right of a woman to control her own body. [applause] Bernie Sanders and we must protect the men and women who serve our nation in uniform and protect our veterans who put their lives on the line to defend us. [applause] Bernie Sanders my friends, we must tell the billionaire class and the 1 that they cannot have it all at a time of massive wealth and income inequality. The wealthiest people and the largest corporations in this country will start paying their fair share of taxes. [applause] Bernie Sanders i am the son of a polish immigrant who came to this country speaking no english and having no money. My father worked every day of his life and he never made a whole lot. My mom and dad and brother and i grew up in a small, three and a half room in a rentcontrolled apartment in brooklyn, new york. My mother who died at a young age, always dreamed of moving out of that apartment and getting a home of her own, but she never realized that dream. Truth is that neither that nobody could dream that i would be here tonight, standing before you as a candidate for president of the United States. [applause] bernie e, bernie, Bernie Sanders this is the promise of america. E promise we mustem we mu keep alive for future generations. Was confirmed tonight is nothing short of the beginning of a Political Revolution. [applause] Bernie Sanders it is a Political Revolution that will bring tens of millions of our people together. It will bring together working people who have given up on the political process. It will bring to get the young people who have never participated in the political process. [applause] Bernie Sanders it will bring together blacks and whites, latinos, asian americans, native straight and gay, male and female, people who were born in america, and people who immigrated here. [applause] will all come we together and say loudly and clearly that the government of our great nation belongs to all of us. Wealthy Campaign Contributors. [applause] sanders that is what this campaign is about. That is what the Political Revolution is about. So, New Hampshire, thank you again. [applause] Bernie Sanders thank you, New Hampshire and now it is on to nevada, South Carolina, and beyond. [applause] 2016, cspanpaign takes you on the road to the follow the as we candidates on cspan, cspan radio, and www. Cspan. Org. Next, New Hampshire republican primary winner donald trump delivers his of victory speech before supporters in manchester. He was joined onstage by his wife and children. You say you want a revolution mr. Trump wow. So beautiful. So beautiful. We are going to make America Great again. [applause] i want to thank everybody, but i really have to begin by giving homage to my parents, mary and fred. And are looking down saying, this is something very special. They love this country and they are very happy right now. Thank you to my parents. Sister, judgek my barry marion. Another great sister, elizabeth. My fantastic Brother Robert who is watching right now with anne marie. And it want to thank my late brother fred. What a fantastic i learned of so much from fred. He taught me more about everything. A fantastic guy. I want to thank fred. He is up there and looking down. [applause] mr. Trump we can go right down the line, but we have to start. With, oh. Uts up she said right from the beginning, you know if you run, you know you are going to win . She said that from day one. So, thank you. Vanessa, thank you so much. She made seven stops today at the polling areas. [applause] there he, very special. Ared, a verygerri j successful real estate entrepreneur in manhattan, but he likes this more than real estate. Erica, they were all out today. And where is corey . Does corey have a ground game, or what . Game . O we have a ground where is corey . Know, we learned a lot about ground games in one week. And nobodyire takes more phone calls in a day than hope. Thank you hope and corey. This is the entire group and the entire staff. An incredible job, get over here. Come here. Usa usa again, we have to thank the candidates because we have some really talented people and to be victorious against some of these people even if it is for one week, but believe me, it will be for many but they really are terrific. I wanted to congratulate the other candidates, ok . Now that i got that out of the way. Its always tought. Always tough. That is the way it is. We have some real talent in the Republican Party. We want to thank everybody, thank you very much. We, yeah right. I will tell you what. What do we really want to thank, right . We want to thank the people of New Hampshire, right . Do we love the people of New Hampshire . You know, i said it a year ago. I said, i will do well there because i am here a lot and it is so beautiful. I love theo much and people. And i actually said, i think they like me a lot. All of a sudden we started to get numbers in. People said, how come they like trump the much . I have so many friends up here and they are special, special people so, New Hampshire, i want to thank you. I am not going to forget you. Remember, you started it. You started it. [applause] it. U did start you know, when i came out i heard the end of bernies speech. [booing] mr. Trump no, no. Congratulations to Bernie Sanders. We have to congratulate bernie. He wants to give away our country, folks. We are not going to let it happen. I dont know where it is going with bernie. We wish him a lot of luck, but we are going to make America Great again. We are to do it the oldfashioned way. We are going to beat china and japan. We are going to beat mexico at trade. We are going to beat all of these countries that are taking so much of our money away from us. On a daily basis. It is not going to happen anymore. We have the greatest Business People right now in the world. They call me all the time and want to be involved. We have political hacks negotiating our deals. For billions and billions and billions of dollars. That will not happen anymore. We will use the finest Business People in the world. We are going to do something so good and so fast and so strong and the world is going to respect us again, believe me. [applause] going to do we love our country . [applause] trump one of the things that caught on and is really important self funding my campaign. Everybody on both sides. Id i said two weeks ago, dont think people really appreciate it. I saw all of this money being poured into commercials and it is not their money. This is on both sides. Money just is pouring into commercials. These are special interests, folks. These are lobbyists, people who dont necessarily love our country. We have to do something about it. We are not going to let it happen. When you see the kind of deals made in our country, a lot of those deal are made because the politicians arent so stupid. They are making them for their benefit. We have to stop it. We are now going to make it for your benefit. We are going to make the deals for the American People. That is the way it is. [applause] trump though, i love this. Look at you. I love these signs, they are so imaginative. In a nutshell, we are going to make great trade deals and rebuild our military. It is going to be so big and strong and powerful that nobody is going to mess with us. Believe me, nobody. Nobody. We are going to take care of our vets. Where is al . We love al alright, al. Get up here if you can. We are going to take care of our vets. They are treated horribly and they are our greatest people. Our vets are going to be taken care of and you remember that, everybody. We are going to have strong borders and people are going to come into our country, but they are going to come into our country legally. They are going to come into our country legally. We are going to build a wall, it is going to be built. It is not even believe it or not. It is not a difficult thing to do. In New Hampshire you have an enormous problem with heroin and drugs. You wouldnt believe it, it is so beautiful. The first thing they say to me is, mr. Trump, please do something. The kids are getting stuck and other people are getting stuck. It is so cheap. And there is so much of it. We are going to end it at the southern border. It is going to be over. We are going to work really hard to get those people who are so addicted off the habit. We are going to work to take care of the situation. It is a huge problem all over our country. We are going to have borders again and we are going to work with you people to help you solve that very big problem and we will get it done. Horribly wounded. They are right now in the hospital. If there were bullets going in the other direction, believe me, it would have been a different story, but nobody had protection. [applause] trump trump trump i am going to be the greatest jobs president that god ever created, remember that. [applause] trump dont believe those phony numbers when you hear 4. 9 and 5 unemployment. The number is probably 28 or 29 . It could be as high as 35 . I even heard recently 42 . Do you think we would have gatherings like this if if we had 5 unemployment, do you really think we would have these gatherings . Forgetting about security, forgetting about isis which by the way, we are going to knock the hell out of isis the right way. So, we are going to take care of the economy. We are going to take care of jobs. We are going to take care of our everything, health care. It is going to be so great. What is it about a obamacare . People are forgetting, but now they are miserable because obamacare is going up 35 , 45 , 50 . It is totally out of control and ownably thinks of its volition in 2017. What is going on . The last budget that was approved is an absolute disaster for everyone in this country. We owe 19 trillion as of today. We just crossed the 19 trillion mark. We are going to very shortly be at 21 trillion because of the budget. We are going to make our country so strong. We are going to start winning again. We dont win anymore as a country. We dont win on trade, with the military, and we cant beat isis. We dont win with anything. We are going to start winning again. We are going to win so much. You are going to be so happy. We are going to make america so greater thanmabye ever before. I love you all. Thank you, New Hampshire thank you, New Hampshire [applause] donald trump thank you we are going now to South Carolina. We are going to win in South Carolina. I love you all. Thank you very much. [applause] you say you want a revolution i am an undecided photo right now. Undecided voter right now. I hope the candidates will start to talk about this. The candidate we are supporting is Bernie Sanders. Bernie, bernie, bernie he is the only candidate that can get our country back to being a democracy again. The system is not working for the average american. Care about the economy because we are going to be affected by it. We need to fix the economy. It would be good for us to live in.
