Caller what i want to say to is the united soviet socialist america you have the party of the rich and the party of the rich and the famous, the democrats. Did two this country very very important documents. Number one was the constitution of the United States of america. The second was the northwest ordinance. These people could read and write latin, greek, etc. Anything to do with democracy is not mentioned by our constitution or the northwest ordinance because they did not believe in democracy, in fact, they hated it. In article four, section four, the u. S. Constitution is based religion. Y and it is so sad that cspan, every says we are aone democracy, calls the founders liars and stupid. From michigan. Thisthe full thing whole thing, i think it is all related. Immigration and racism. Ofre are only three types americans left. Illegals, the rich, and poor. To me, i dont see how races and can even be a problem where over mixed children were of a race. There is the rich, the poor, and illegal. We have to figure out a way to bring everybody together. In one sense or another, we are yo. Can african, etc. We have to stop bringing some of the to ourselves. Isnt it atrocious that we have offices out there shooting black kids . Absolutely. A single life taken is more of a tragedy than a million. At that point, a million becomes a statistic to some people. Host that is josh what. Lets hear from patty. Patty is in wisconsin. Hello. Caller good morning, cspan. Thank you for your program. I really appreciated hearing. Rom your to last guests they were very articulate, and i appreciated their comment about the debate being about personalities and no substance. I wish the debate, or future debates, would be managed by either a High School Debate teacher or a College Debate teacher, and then maybe we would get some substance. Governor walker is our governor. I did not vote for him. When he says he took down and union, yes, he did, but basically he went after the Public School system and it is our teachers and workers there that have no representation. God bless you all. Thank you. Newsmakers program this week, which you can see tomorrow. You will hear from a new mexico congressman. He will talk about the congressional debate over a possible government shutdown. Heres a little bit of that conversation. [video clip] the democrats in the house do not want to see a government shutdown. What we learned last week is that there was a conversation in the republican conference where the Republican Leadership presented its members and that according to polls, stats, and articles written, it is very clear who everyone knows will be blamed. It is the republicans in the house. I am certainly hopeful that my republican colleagues see the damage from 2013. A 24 million impact in a very saddened reduction of u. S. Economy. Employees for load all over the urloughed all over the country. We have targets. There will be a real debate with the differences between democrats and republicans and some of those districts. I think the American People know what is happening here. Guest for is our newsmakers to go again, you can see that tomorrow morning, starting at 10 00. Representative Ben Ray Lujan joining us, a democrat from new mexico. If you want to see the program, it starts at 10 00. You can also see at 6 00 in the evening. The New HampshireDemocratic Convention takes place today. Starting i series right now, in which you will hear from presence of candidates. We take you there live. [captioning performed by the national captioning institute, which is responsible for its caption content and accuracy. Visit ncicap. Org] star spangled banner] [applause] please welcome the reverend two lead us in the invitation. Hampshireew activists. [applause] i invite each of you present here this morning to celebrate your own tradition or spiritual calling as we prayed together for a better New Hampshire, and a better world. In my own faith tradition, we discover our calling in the scriptural passages that require us to do justice and love, kindness, and mercy, and remind us that whatever we do or do not among us reveal the kind of people that we truly are. That is the foundation of this prayer. So let us pray. Spirit, president , let us be one today. Let us here are calling him and understand that an injury to the most notable among us is an injury to all. When we are haste with those who claim that it is ok for someone who works fulltime to be in poverty and awash with economic anxiety, let us proclaim that a minimum wage must be a living wage. That is what justice books like. [applause] when hardworking immigrants in our state and nation are vilified because of their origin or exploited by those who employ them, let us remind us of the almost all of us come from immigrant stock. Let us proclaim that all people in our midst, all colors, ethnicities, gender orientations, and economic stations in life, and of all abilities deserve to be treated with dignity and equality. Let us promise that we will not back down until it is so. When we acknowledgment gap between the haves and the havenots, let us proclaim that critica crippling economic ineqy must be turned around. That too is what justice looks like. Went over 40,000 of our New Hampshire neighbors need expanded medicaid for survival and better access to addiction services, let us break claim programmanent authorization is essential, and let us promise that we will not back down until it is so. [applause] with the threat of war still schools us, and suffering neglect, when our infrastructure is crumbling, and certain Public Policies cause a race to the bottom instead of and when some individuals believe that an attack on the other or on workers or on women is a winning political strategy, let us promise one another that we will continually stand up for beloved community in the face of those who would divide us and terrace down. Let us pray [applause] pledge that we will be a voice for decency and fair play whenever and wherever our voices need is needed. Let this be so. Amen. [applause] please welcome the officers to the stage. [applause] good morning. The New HampshireDemocratic Party, it is my honor to call this convention to order. [applause] our first order of business is to hear from our first vice chair as chair of the credentials committee. [applause] [applause] thank you, mr. Chairman. I am proud to announce the are attended to our attendance will make this the largest state Party Convention ever. [cheering] [applause] look around. Can you believe in . 1107ve registered delegates today. We are also joined by over three guests. [applause] oft means we have a total 4201 in attendance. [applause] is there a motion to accept the Credential Committee report . Is there a second . [applause] aye. Se in favor say, [applause] you senator clark. Now to issue the rules committee report. [applause] good morning, New Hampshire democrats. Thank you, mr. Chairman. The rules committee on behalf of the rules committee, im pleased to present our report. Two years, the invention proposes changes. After much discussion, the rules committee has no proposed changes. I move that we accept the report. Is there a second . All those in favor . Thank you, mr. Chairman. I have another motion. I move that the official business be closed so that week in hear from our governor, said her, congresswoman, and the next president of the United States. Is there a second . All those in favor . [cheering] [applause] good morning, democrats. Is this a Great Convention . [applause] im sorry . [cheering] [applause] we are in the midst of a spirited primary, but let us never forget that the goal is waiting next november winning next november. Enthusiastically cheer for every candidate. And show every leader respect for everybody today. Today is about energizing new and help democrats prepare for november 2016. The support of New Hampshire republicans are having a complete meltdown. Not just that we have the largest state Party Convention in New Hampshire history [applause] but, the New Hampshire republicans are having a thatown because they know New Hampshire democrats are going to win in 2016. [cheering] [applause] we all know the republicans are , butery good with facts here are some facts that even republicans in New Hampshire k now. No republican president ial nominee has made it to 50 in New Hampshire since 1958. In the five pass president elections, 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, there have been 13 statewide elections in New Hampshire and democrats have won 10 of them. [applause]. Ere are some more facts New Hampshire democrats have won nine out of the last 10 races for governor. [applause] next year, it is going to be 10 out of 11. [applause] and, New Hampshire democrats two out of the last three races for United States senate. Next year, it will be three out of four. [cheering] [applause] has a job waiting for her, cohosting with scott brown. New hampshire democrats have won three out of the last five races in the first congressional district. And, in 2016, only five republicans even want to renominate. We will win in 2016 in the first district. In the second district, we have won four out of the last five. Aces republicans dont even have anyone thinking about challenging because she will win. New hampshire democrats have won the constant majority in the three out of the last five elections, and we have a shot of winning all five seats in 2016. New have to democrats have received listen to this, this is artful New Hampshire democrats have received more votes in the state senate in the last four out of five elections, and we will win the majority out right into thousand 16. New hampshire democrats have won the majority in the last of five elections. Sorry, shawn jasper and bill obrien, the fact is that neither of you will be speaker next year. [applause] but really, the exciting news coming out of New Hampshire is not just how well we do in present elections, listen to this. Across the nation in 2014, democratic turnout was worse than 2010, but not here in New Hampshire. Yes, we had brutal results in 2010. In 2014, when there was a giant republican wave across the nation, we held on. While we did not win everything, senator cheney was reelected to the United States senate. [applause] only the second democrat to be reelected by the people of New Hampshire to the United States senate. That is making history. Governor houston was reelected governor. [applause] outspent 21. They spent 4 million in attack ads, and she still won. While democratic turnout in two dozen 14 across the nation was down, here in New Hampshire, it was all. It was not even across the state. It was community by community. Onet next door to another, one town did very well, and another, not so well. It did not make sense. A small state, we all have the same tv ads, the same mail, the same news. Everything is identical, except for one thing. Turnout was up in the towns and cities that had a vibrant local grassroots Democratic Committee proving that the most powerful tool that any campaign can have is you. Is more important than one neighbor talking to another neighbor, going doortodoor, on the phone, and any way that you communicate with them. If you recommit to organizing and supporting your local committee, we will win in 2016. [applause] 2018 andill win in 2020. That is when we can undo the outrageous republican gerrymandering, and from then on, democrats every year in New Hampshire, we will win, and it all be because of you. New hampshires future has never , neverighter, our course clear, our victory, never so close. New hampshire democrats, it is all in your hands. Are you willing to commit to build a vibrant, organize, local committee in every county, every town, and every city across the state . [applause] all right. Thank you so much. This concludes my report. My honor to introduce the chair of the Democratic National committee, our friend, congresswoman Debbie Wasserman schultz. [applause] Debbie Wasserman schultz. [applause] schultz are we ready to let the president of the United States of america . [cheering] [applause] i am too, and im looking daysd to the next fighting sidebyside with you to do just that. Ray, for the invitation to speak you this morning. You all know ray buckley for the great work that he does as chair of the New Hampshire, and we will have a debate right here in manchester in december. Make sure you tune in. Worry, we willu take it to the republicans just like we do every single election cycle. If you had a look at them the other night, i want to make sure the American People get a good, close look at just how extreme the republican field of we will be ready, dont you worry. Let me give some love to of a buckley. Not only is he the chair of the New HampshireDemocratic Party, but he is also a leader of leaders, as i like to call him, the president of the association of states, and one of our dnc vice chairs. Rays work has helped to strengthen the democratic parties in all 50 states and puts our party in a position to win elections up and down the ballots all across the country. Soe than a collie, im fortunate to call ray buckley a friend. He has always had my back, and i will always have his. Hank you so much, r really, you do such a fantastic job. [applause] i would also like to recognize our hard looking dnc members from New Hampshire. William shaheen, joann, kathy sullivan, martha, i know we have a number of other members from across the region. Welcome and thank you so much for the work that you do every single day for our party. [applause] course, thank you to each and every one of you, and especially for coming out today to make this the largest Political Convention in Granite State history. [applause] i would ask you to give yourself a round of applause, but you just to did. I applied you as well. You as well. Plaud it is because of you that we have achieved the success that we have under president obama. Theesses like 56 creation of 13 million private sector jobs. Deficits cut by two thirds. Wall street reform. Student loan reform. [applause] i guess there are a few students in the house. [applause] of dont ask dont tell, and doma. [applause] now love is finally the law of the land in all 50 states, thanks to democrats. [applause] access to quality, Affordable Health care that has been extended to 16 million americans. We will make sure it is never taken away, never. We are not going back. We are going to move forward. 2008 and in 2012 because the American People are standing with us. As a Breast Cancer survivor, i never want to go back to a time when Health InsuranceCompanies Set the rules and could deny someone insurance for having a preexisting condition. [applause] thank you. To be fighting alongside you to continue to make sure that this remains a reality. I have been coming to New Hampshire for years, since i accepted president obamas request to share as dnc chair in 2011. I have done nearly 50 events in the Granite State. Campaigning for other democrats in New Hampshire brings me back to my first race for the Florida State house of representatives when i was just 26 years old. It was a six way primary race. I did not have the connections or the resources the other candidates had. The good old boys told me not to run, that it was not my turn. But i knew that as a young woman the policies of my state would not reflect my views if i played it safe and did not step up. So that summer i knocked on 25,000 25,000 doors. Grassroots campaigning is the most effective way to take your case to the voters. Every jewish grandmother who welcomed me into her living who, every young woman showed me that they wanted to make sure that there was someone who had their back and would be their voice, that the respect to listen to what i had to say. Hey trusted me enough those are the faces i remember when i think about who i am fighting for. [applause] thank you. Thank you. That is what it is all about with us democrats. I have always been impressed with what makes New Hampshire voters unique, and by your High Expectations for candidates to truly connect with voters. The way you open up your living rooms and hear them out, the way you sit in a diner booth over a cup of coffee and have a real conversation. The way you share with them your folks, we come on are all on the same side. Lets make sure we focus on the republicans. We should not be arguing amongst ourselves. We have a job to do. We have a president elect. We will have a healthy and ourselvesate among and then we will take it to the republicans to make sure that it is our candidates. Our candidates who stand up for the working class and families. We need to come together. We need to show every voter in america that it is democrats who have had their backs and will have their backs. So onward, unified, focused. [applause] thank you. Thank you. H ito keep two some loveep heap on a New Hampshire. Use share your greatest hoax and your deepest concerns well eating some of the best chicken tenders in the country. You all know that are that race cannot be won through a stage or a television screen. You want to see these candidates in your living rooms, in coffee shops, in town halls, itd forest is like the ones we are having today. Like you i am looking forward to hearing the plans our candidates but forward on issues that matter. Everyone of our Democratic Candidates is passionate and united behind one goal, strengthening the middle class. That is our goal. We are going to fight side by side together to get there, no matter which of our candidates excepts of democratic nomination in philadelphia next july. Are we ready for philadelphia . [applause] i cant wait to put on the best Democratic National convention that city has ever seen. Isn one of our nominees selected and nominated in philadelphia next july and becomes the next president of the United States, we know that he or she will move our country forward, built on the progress we have already made, and put the American Dream within reach rs. Many more Granite State there isnt so much work left to do. We may have one Marriage Equality, and thanks to New Hampshire for being one of the first states in the country to say that love is love. [applause] thank you New Hampshire. Thank you for leading the way. It is still legal in far too many places to be fired because of who you are her you love, and other democrats we will make sure that that gets turned backwards as well. [applause] friends, we need to fix our broken immigration system and adjust the looming threat of Climate Change before it is too late. We need to do more to help working families by ensuring increasing the minimum wage, and strengthening paid leave programs. [applause] if you have been paying attention to the republicans lately maybe you read into one in New Hampshire recently if you have not been, here is the bizarro world they are saying. They are saying lets go back to the failed policies of the past. Lets make the same foreignpolicy mistakes that we made, again. Lets bring back the same trickledown economics that preceded the economic crisis, and while were at it do lets ensure republicans continue to be the party of opposition and obstruction. We have seen nothing but attacks. They offered to zero Real Solutions to address Climate Change, to give hardworking americans a raise, or fix our nation broken immigration system. What the country and republicans need to be discussing the middle class, and what we can do to help build of those letters of success. The primary discussion among republicans has been donald trump. [boos] thats not all. Womens health care is also a topic of discussion and not in a good way. They are all talking about how to make it less accessible. Several of their candidates including ted cruz and donald trump have suggested that they would be willing to shut down the entire government over shutting down planned parenthood. [boos] you cant make this stuff up. Carly fiorina did not stop there. She went as far as lying on stage about this airy topic just to score political points. Apparently they have forgotten the last time they shut down the government over denying people access to health care. That cost our economy 24 billion. Who knows how much worse and will be this time if they do it again . As damaging as reckless as their policies are, their records are. Ar worse lets talk about Carly Fiorinas record, and a 30,000 people at jobho lost her their under her watch. Or we can talk about jeb bush. [boos] he keeps insisting he is his own man and tries to prove that by launching a defense of his brothers foreignpolicy. He also introduced a new tax plan a couple of weeks ago which is just his brothers plan on steroids. More huge tax breaks for millionaires and wealthy corporations. Rubiosalk about marco pandering policies or john efforts in ohio to restrict access to voting, or how scott walker thinks he is ready to fight isis because he took on wisconsin teachers and firefighters. [boos] or we to talk about how republicans have so little respect for women that they could not even name is single notable American Woman that they thought was worth putting on the 10 bill. Raise your hand if you can think of 10 notable american women that belong on the 10 bill . [applause] i know i could. I could think of 100. That is how little respect republicans have for the women of this country. They prove it everything with a. And that is not all. You dont need to look any further than their front runner. Donald trump launched his campaign with a slew of hateful rhetoric about mexican immigrants, propelling him right to the top of republican polls. Marco rubio walked away from his own immigration plan, and House Republicans blocked a i partisan, comprehensive bill. So while some are trying to distance themselves from traps offensive rhetoric, the fact is they endorsed the same offensive policies. Scott walker, ted cruz, ben carson and others followed traps trumps mean by arguing that we should deny children the right they are guaranteed by the 14th amendment. Walker also suggested building a wall between the u. S. And canada. And jeb bush referred to American Children using a vile and discussing term. We are going to have a debate. Gain december im am ready to debate here with you. One of the supporters in the audience called president obama a muslim. What is more important . Drawing a contrast with republicans were arguing about debates . Lets focus on our mission. Enough is enough. Enough is enough. We have a job to do. Lets focus on our candidates. We have president ial candidates that did not the other night tell a supporter in the audience that barack obama was not a muslim. When he said instead, in response to a question about when we can get rid of him he did not say barack obama is not a muslim. Donald trumpesman, did not correct this person. He did not say that was wrong. He said he would be looking into it. We should be long past that. America is better than that. Republicans are the reasons a High School Freshman in texas gets arrested when he brings a homemade clock to school. I am the mother of high school kids. What have we come to an america that a child ingenuity is suspect . That is not the america that we aspire to. We are better than that. [applause] thank you. The people of New Hampshire no we need solutions that bring people together. As democrats we are the party of empowerment, it expanded opportunity, and we are part of the solution. That is who we are and what we are all about. Thank you. Over the next 13 and a half months remember what is it stake what is at stake and her mother what unites us as democrats and as americans. We are united in the believe that women and men should be paid equally for the same jobs. [applause] as democrats lets focus on what is really important. As democrats we are united in the belief that everyone should be able to marry who they love. [applause] as democrats we are united in the belief that every american should have access to quality, Affordable Health care. [applause] we are united in the belief that we need to keep moving our nation forward and build on the success of the middle class to help families get ahead. Keep that in mind. Nextthat in mind over the 460 days as we do everything we can to make sure we keep moving this country forward. I have so looking forward to fighting sidebyside with you to elect a democrat as the next president of the United States of america. On to victory. On to victory. We will make sure that the middle class is able to rise only and that it is not the wealthiest, most fortunate americans that republicans are taking care of. Contrast, juste like we did in five out of the last six residential elections, when a democrat had the support of the American People. On to victory in 2016. Thank you so much. [applause] [cheering] [applause] stagease welcome to the executive council. [applause] good morning. [applause] it sounds like people are pretty fired up, is that right . [applause] i unexpectedly traveled across the country yesterday and got on a redeye about seven hours ago. There is no better site for sore eyes than thousands of energized, excited, informed democrats. [applause] are you guys ready for 2016 . [applause] today we are going to hear from 12 great New Hampshire leaders and five incredible , but that is not why we are here. Our purpose today is not about people who stand at the podium. We are here because of the homeless man who slept last night a few blocks from here. That is why we are here. We are here because of the wages in keenes, 10 months sober, who is spending her saturday morning counseling others about life without heroin and wondering how we can get together to stop this rising tide. [applause] we are here today for the fiveyearold with the bright questions,e piercing who just started school in one of half of the towns in this state but do not have public, fullday kindergarten. We are here for the entrepreneur with awn the street here Great Customer list who loves our great economy and our amazing quality of life and wonders why we cant get Passenger Rail here in central New Hampshire so he can grow his business . [applause]. We are here for ashley she is a 22yearold young woman from langdon, New Hampshire, who has never seen a representative of hers and her life and she emailed me one month ago to ask why in the world three republican men on the executive council that they could take away the annual exam and the Birth Control that she relies upon at the claremont planned parenthood center. [applause] today we are here for the college freshmen. [applause] at plymouth, or durham, or keene, or manchester who are full of wonder and fear and excitement and does not yet know that they might run out of Student Loans. With tensmight end up of thousands of dollars in Credit Card Debt unless we fight. Unless we make our voice their voice. Unless we make this day there day. Unless we make this year, 2016, their year. This is why we are democrats. We include, we stand up. We lift up, we progress and advanced. We chart a path for a Brighter Future, one where everyone in every town, every child, kansas sell their godgiven potential. We Work Together to get it done. Did last yeare when we extended health care to our fellow citizens who did not have it before, and that is how we will stop them from taking it away next year. Working together is how we restored funding for planned , for Birth Control and cancer screenings. It is how we will make sure that funding is restored. He is not the final word on this. We will restore that funding if it takes an election. Turning a Brighter Future for our state is why we stood with market asking workers, by we stood with fairpoint workers. Why we will never turn our backs on our firefighters, our cops, and our teachers who are our strengths. Its due and we do best is a party today. This podium to the people outside the arena. Lets pledge to fight for a Brighter Future for them. Lets pledge to fight for Debt Free College. [applause] pledge to fight for a future that is accelerated by passenger future and brightened by solar panels and supported by the thousands of good jobs that come with both. [applause] lets fight for access to fullday kindergarten and betty that are paid leave and sick good for ourat are workers and our businesses. And lets fight for a fair New Hampshire minimum wage. [applause] lowets fight to keep taxes for hardworking New Hampshire citizens and our growing Small Businesses by closing the loopholes and ending the special giveaways to the very wealthiest and the biggest corporations. We can do this together. [applause] i know we can do this. 016 is our year let me end by asking you a very simple question. Are you ready to go all in and stand up to make a Brighter Future for the people of New Hampshire . [applause] lets get to work. [applause] please welcome House Democratic leader. [applause] good morning democrats. It let me start with the good news. I have got a five page speech but i am not going to read it. [applause] want to talk with you. We have heard from a lot of great democrats this morning and we are going to hear from a lot more. Aftere me, however listening to me the ones that have not spoken are going to sound that much better. But i want to start by recognizing my brothers and sisters in the House Democratic caucus. If all our current members could please stand up and be recognized. [applause] thank you so much. Folks, i cant tell you the pride and respect and admiration i have for each and every member of our democratic caucus. The first poll we took last thember in the house politically expedient thing for House Democrats was to have ryan come back, but our caucus, doing the right thing for the people of New Hampshire, did the morally correct thing. We supported the insurgent candidate for speaker, shawn jasper, and with democratic support shawn jasper defeated bill obrien by only four votes. [applause] if we want to know the impact of that vote, we have to look no further to last wednesday. What democrats did on that day they have been doing throughout the house session, putting the best interests of the people first. I cannot thank them enough. Let me just take a moment to thank our governor. [applause] if donald trump ever wants to learn the art of negotiation she should he should follow her for a day. [applause] in bringingrship democrats and republicans in the house and senate together to forge a budget that we can all live with is just incredible. We had those in the house, the bill obriens, the jennifer last, that up until the moment thought to derail this budget. But because the governor had. His leadership we persevered i dont know what decision the governor is going to make for her future, but whatever decision she makes the people of New Hampshire are going to benefit by it. Session we have worked so hard. We have accomplished so much. The last thing we voted on was the budget. As i told somebody, in his election democrats did not win. Republicans did not win. The people of New Hampshire, especially, they won. That is what is important. [applause] we got funding for drug and alcohol counseling, funding for health care. Funding for education. Funding to repair our infrastructure and one of the most important things we got a 2 pay raise for our hardworking state employees, that they muchdeserved. Now we in the House Democratic caucus are looking forward to 2016 when we take back our majority once again. [applause] we know we will not achieve that goal without all of your help. Run for the house. Run, support our candidates and support the committee to elect House Democrats. Think what we will do as the majority. [applause] we will guarantee voting rights. We will protect a womans right to choose. We will make sure people get a quality education. And most important, we will make sure that our next democratic governor will keep get the legislator that they deserve. Thank you so much and god bless New Hampshire. [applause] i will keep working as hard as i can everything will they as hard as i can every single day. Together we will move forward. Governor maggie declared a state of emergency. My concern is getting the product off the shelf. She is putting up a fight against drug overdosing. Lowest Unemployment Rate since 2008. Helping to bring about an end to the stalemate. The factory plans to open this fall. Transportation infrastructure is essential. From the budget to a new Energy Policy the governor talked about achieving new priorities through innovative thinking. We froze tuition at our Public Colleges and universities and lowered it to balance the budget. We made health care accessible. Those who say we cant come together to do these things and them, you dont know what the Granite State can do. Thank you New Hampshire. Now lets get back to work. Thank you. [applause] please welcome to the stage, governor maggie hassan. [applause] thank you. Good morning New Hampshire democrats. Thank you. Much. You all very very thank you. Thank you New Hampshire democrats. It is really incredible to see so many fired up democrats here today. [applause] thank our chairman, ray buckley, and the hdp staff for once again making the convention a huge success with an amazing turnout. You know, our first in the nation primary is a cherished responsibility for Granite Staters. It reflects and informs who we are. This Historic Convention speaks to the great pride we take in our Critical Role in the democratic process. [applause] thank senator to shaheen and congressman congresswoman andy custer. [applause] i want to thank them both for their tireless efforts to get things done for New Hampshire, and for always fighting to ensure that the voices of our state are heard in washington. [applause] ourd like to recognize democratic executive counselors, chris pappas and colin van umstrum colin van for working with me every day to keep our state moving forward. And i want to give a special to our thanks today state senators and representatives for their continued dedication to our communities and our state. [applause] especially for their leadership, unity, and courage this week. [applause] democratichat leaders already asked you to do it, but would all of the state Legislature Legislators who are here today stand and be recognized . Thank you so much. [applause] was their willingness to stand together, and then to come together with me to compromise, that made it possible for us to pass a fiscally responsible budget this week. [applause] and most of all, thank you New Hampshire democrats. [applause] today because we are all united in a common purpose to keep it after moving in the right direction. Have i entered office we sought to expand opportunity for hardworking, middleclass families. We have worked to help innovative businesses create new jobs right here in New Hampshire. Two years ago, by bringing together members of both parties, we passed the most bipartisan at it in over a decade. We froze in state tuition at our universities. [applause] tuition at our Community Colleges. [applause] to help our innovative is this is grow, we doubled and tax permanent the r d credit, and we are fixing roads and bridges across the state and finishing the expansion of i93. [applause] passed the New Hampshire paycheck fairness act. [applause] and more than 40,000 nowworking Granite Staters have the health and Economic Security that comes with Quality Health coverage, because we expanded medicaid. [applause] together we have put New Hampshire back on the right track. We are seeing the progress all across the state. Our Unemployment Rate is now 3. 6 , the fourth lowest in the country. [applause] New Hampshire led new england with the biggest growth in personal income. And our Economic Growth was tied up for best in new england, beating the national average. [applause] these many encouraging signs that our economy is moving in the right direction, we still have much thatwork to do to ensure all of our citizens are included in our success and prosperity. I am proud that this week we fiscally to pass a responsible, bipartisan budget deal that will help keep moving our state forward. [applause] with this compromise we will strengthen investments to critical economic priorities while protecting those investments for years to come. I am particularly pleased that this edit supports the vast majority of the priorities that i specified in my Budget Proposal back in february. Priorities like combating the heroine crisis, holding down the cost of College Tuition, retaining our roads and bridges, and continuing to strengthen and increase access to health care. [applause] as governor i see it every day. I see that our dedicated state employees make a positive impact on the lives of New Hampshire citizens each and every day. [applause] maintains ourdget commitment to our hardworking state employees by funding their previously negotiated contracts. [applause] while this compromise agreement does not include everything that either side wants, it will safeguard our ability to support critical at atomic critical economic priorities both now and in the future. Responsible,ly balanced budget in place we need to get right back to work on the priorities that will keep our state moving forward. We need to build on our efforts to combat New Hampshires heroine epidemic, and that means fighting to reauthorize our successful Medicaid Expansion land and safeguard health care for more than 40,000 Granite Staters. [applause] Public Health and safety thatials have made clear the single most important thing we can do today to combat the crisis crisis heroin is to expand health care access. We cannot wait any longer. [applause] it in the year 2015 that three executive counselors just blocked Critical Health services were thousands of women and families id funding planned parenthood . These counselors it seems have very short memories. Last time the executive council defunded planned parenthood we made our voices heard loud and clear at the ballot box and said enough. That is exactly what we need to again. [applause] hampshire we are proud to be known for our first in the nation primary. We all know how important that is. But we also know that it is not enough to just be first with our president ial primaries. We want to be first in economic s, first in education, first in making sure our businesses thrive and grow. You want to be first in ensuring access to quality, Affordable Health care. And we wanted to be first in young people to stay in New Hampshire and start their families here. [applause] my fellow democrats, we cannot turn back now. Together we can bring new meaning to our cherished distinction as the first in the nation state. Together we can keep New Hampshire moving in the right direction. Thank you, god bless you, have a wonderful day. [applause] please Welcome Senate democratic leader jeff woodburn. [applause] what a great speech by our governor. It is an honor to follow her. She does a great job. She has set the tone of what we need to be doing in the state of New Hampshire and i will try to fill in the blanks of why we need to do it and to we have worked so hard for. It is great to be in such a terrific crowd here. I am a former town Democratic State democratic chair, member of the legislature. Title of teacher that i am most proud of. [applause] and i am a democrat for the same reason i am a teacher. I believe in Human Dignity and human potential. Democrats those of us in the senate that fight hard everyday no in the bottom of our hearts that there is a hidden genius in every person and it is our responsibility to find that, nurture that, and grow that. When i was a new teacher i was having some trouble with a particularly difficult kid from a particularly hard and tough background. I taught in one of the poorest schools in the county. One of the more veteran teachers pulled me aside and said, the difference between him and you me and him is that much. Much is what i had to do as a teacher, what you have to do as democratic activist, what all of our elected officials do everyday. That difference, good family, john community, a full stomach, Quality Health care, quality education, on and on. [applause] in the senate we fight hard to build a safety net because we know, unlike our public and friends, we know that that safety net is a springboard for success. [applause] proud of the nine democratic colleagues i serve within the senate. Day work hard every creating opportunities for all people, not just those from weld and comfort. They are working hard to bring up so all people have the same and evil opportunity to pursue their dreams. Great to recognize those senators who work hard everyday. Strong people who i count as friends and mentors. I want to introduce them to you. We have Andrew Hosmer from laconia. [applause] senator david waters from dover. [applause] clark. Tor marcia there she is. [applause] and our newest member from concorde. [applause] there he is. Senatorf course we have eddie lasky from nashua betty lasky from nashua. We have the great democratic equity leader from manchester. And of course molly kelly. From the upper valleys, from lebanon, david pierce. Thank you for your work. [applause] lou be with us but we certainly appreciate his good work as well. [applause] thank you for all we do. For all you do. We will get things done and serve the people. Take you very much for all you do. [applause] now to a landmark day at the Supreme Court. Taking on a samesex marriage case that could grow pave the way for all 50 states. Page peoples brief. The Human Rights Campaign is inviting ordinary people. Join us with what is an incredible point in history. The brief as the first time citizens will have their voices formally heard in a case this. I do believe the moment is here. The country has evolved. We had the decision. June 20 6, 2015. Gay marriage is no legal and lawful now illegal and lawful. Right here in front of the Supreme Court they actually outnumber the people against it. This is the crowd in favor. Frankly it is hard to watch that and not get emotional. Those people there are not pariahs. They are patriots, just wanting the Human Dignity the rest of us have. All of us stand on the shoulders of giants. The highest court in our land has rolled that gay couples are equal and their love should be treated equally. Today. Is better equal justice under law applies to us too. The white house is a glow in the colors of the rainbow, celebrating what the white house called a new chapter in civil rights. White house also tweeting ins. Today, lovew [applause] Rights Campaign in Quality Award to my friend the New Hampshire them a chronic chair Raymond Butler raymond buckley. [applause] please welcome to the stage executive Council Chris pappas. [applause] how are you all, New Hampshire democrats . [applause] to the city of manchester, which this november is going to elect our first female mayor. Joyce craig is the next mayor of manchester. [applause] isnt it amazing to watch that video from the Human Rights Campaign and see how far we have come . My first speech as a state rep back in 2000 four i joined a group of hearty New HampshireHouse Democrats to fight against the bill that was going to define marriage in a discriminatory way. I knew it was important, as a gate Granite State gay Granite Stater myself to stand up for a world where people would be treated equally and respected. [applause] we put up a good fight against that the scrivener it discriminatory bill back in 2004, but we lost. Era a lot of fights in that. I dont think anyone thought that Marriage Equality would be the law of New Hampshire within five years, or the law of the nation within 11. But what that taught us is that political obstacles are no match for progress and the dignity of each and every individual. [applause] at my restaurant here in manchester i have met many of the republicans running for president. I heard someone before talk chicken tenders. We have great ice cream too. I get to meet a lot of the republicans running for president. It is a real thrill. When i am introduced to them as the owner of the establishment they will tell me things like, oh, i bet obamacare is kill your business. Im that youre being smothered by regulation. The fact is, none of that is true. Business thrives when workers are protected and empowered, and we have got to make sure we stand up for workers rights. [applause] what, what isw just as telling is what these republicans never mention at a restaurant stop in New Hampshire or on the National Debate stage. They dont mention the need to raise wages and rebuild the middle class. They dont mention the need for affordable childcare. They dont mention the crushing cost of higher education, and they certainly dont Mention Health care being an essential economic and family issue. It has been mentioned that republicans routinely View Health Care in purely political terms. We saw an unfortunate repeat of history where three republican men on the executive council defunded planned parenthood, jeopardizing Critical Care for women in our state. And while the bipartisan medicare Expansion Plan is a huge success, covering 42,000 individuals, there are some republicans at the statehouse who would easily pull the plug on that program. With the help of so many with the health of so many granite the line, we must renew funding to planned parenthood and renew medicare Medicaid Expansion. [applause] when i think of the fight we have ahead i think of the successes from the past, like Marriage Equality. Said, nothingce is as powerful as an idea whose time has come. That was so true about marriage but it will true proved just as true for the other core beliefs of this party. When we talk about access to Family Planning services or health care, that time has come. When we talk about rebuilding our state infrastructure, building rail to the heart of are, that time has come as well. [applause] when we are talking about developing clean energy and acting on Climate Change, that time has clearly come. [applause] about when we are talking respecting workers and allowing more people to climb into the middle class, that time has come and it is long overdue. , lets not be deterred by those who would put up a roadblock to our progress. Lets not be disenchanted by a temporary setback. Lets not be discouraged by the rhetoric of those on the other side who would take us backwards. The time has come to move New Hampshire forward on these issues and create enduring opportunities. With persistence, with hard work , we will get there. I can guarantee you that. Lets stick together in 2016. If we do, there is nothing that can get in our way and stop us. They do so much. [applause] thank you so much. [applause] [cheering] in america. Where you do your part. You reap the rewards. Where we do not leave anyone out or anyone the hind behind. Learn this from politics. I learned it from my own family. My mother taught me that Everybody Needs a chance and a champion. I do want to be the champion for Everyday Americans to make sure you have the opportunities. Incomes for hardworking middleclass families. Lets raise the paycheck of working people. Lets raise the minimum wage so more people can [cheering] [applause] i have a plan that comes just that. Climate change is an extension of threat. Climate change is real. A heroinhire has epidemic, killing our children, young adults, our veterans. We are not going to turn our backs on the fellow citizens. We have to get the economy to work for everybody and democracy to work for everybody. That is why i am running for president of the United States. [cheering] in that is why i am so proud to endorse her for president of the United States. I choose hillary because i know her and i trust her. She is tested. She is our champion. And she is our friend. I am not running or some americans. But for all americans. [laughter] [applause] please welcome to the stage, Hillary Clinton. [cheering] Hillary Clinton thank you so much. Thank you. Thank you, New Hampshire democrats. [cheering] thank you so much. [cheering] thank you all. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. [cheering] are we going to win this election in 2016 . [cheering] yes, we are. Thank you. My heart is just racing. I am so, so excited to be here. Grateful for everything you and the state have meant to me and my family. I am honored to have the support of so many proud New Hampshire democrats. [cheering] and especially, especially your terrific governor. [cheering] you are a amazing senator, who used to be governor. [applause] [cheering] and jeanne aree women who know how to solve problems. And they bring common sense and common purpose to everything they do. I also want to thank congresswoman annie kuster, all the state senators and representatives. [applause] counselors, local leaders, grassroots organizers. And especially, volunteers, who are working their hearts out for this campaign. [cheering] [applause] i have a great idea. I think we should just transport all of you were everywhere we go around the country together. [cheering] much fun as this is, as exciting as the atmosphere in here is, we have work to do as democrats. I want to be your partner to build our party here in this state and across our nation to keep our progress going. We have, a long way, havent we, these past six and a half years . Work ands to the hard sacrifice of the American People and to the leadership of the democratic president in the white house, barack obama [cheering] [applause] we are standing again, but we are not yet running the way america should. Wages still are not rising for most people. The cost of everything from college to Prescription Drugs keeps going up. Aequality is still too big problem. Youknow, in america, if work hard and do your part, you should be able to get ahead and stay ahead. That is the basic argan of this country. Basic bargain of this country. You know, that is a promise that my grandfather believed in when he went to work every day in the lace mills. I am the granddaughter of a factory worker who believed in america. And that life could be better for his children. And it was. Went to college. My dad, after serving in the navy in world war ii, he started a Small Business. Sacrificed, the kinds he believed his Small Business, printing fabric in chicago, to provide us with a middleclass life. You know what . It did. And now, within three factoryons from that worker to that Small Business owner, i am standing here asking for your support to be president of this great country without we love. President of this great country that we love. [cheering] [applause] hillary hiullary Hillary Hillary hillary ms. Clinton and so that is what we are fighting for his democrats. We are fighting to make sure , is dream, that process just as vital and real as tomorrow in the years later as it was for my father and grandfather. Husband putsn my people first [cheering] [applause] in the 1992 campaign, where New Hampshire was so supportive, when he got into the white house, he realized that he had inherited real economic problems from his republican predecessors. That seems to happen, have you noticed . [laughter] without trying to be partisan or personal, but the economy just works better when we have a democrat in the white house. [cheering] [applause] and so, after eight years of and political heavy lifting, the end of bills second term of there was a oflly important step set statistics that represented the progress we made. 23 million new jobs. A balanced budget. But you know what was most important to me . Decades, irst time in everybody benefited. Not just those at the top, but people in the middle. People at the bottom. Everybody saw their incomes go u p. [cheering] [applause] you know, i went to the senate. The good people of new york sent me to the senate in 2001. Was excited, because i thought, look at what we have accomplished. We have turned around the economy. We have taken control over our fiscal future. Just think of what we could have done with that balanced budget and a surplus. Sociald have made security solvent for as far as the eye could see. We could have invested in education and science and research to make us smarter and stronger and richer. But you know what happened . The republicans went back to trickle down economics. One of the worst ideas ever to come out of the 1980s, right along with big hair. [laughter] they took of eyes off the financial markets, took their eyes off the mortgage market. Invented t obama inherited an even bigger mess. I remember when he called me right after the election. Him in chicago. I did not know why at the time. Turned out, he wanted to ask me to be secretary of state. But when i got there [cheering] [applause] when i got there, what he wanted to talk about was how dangerous the Economic Situation was. He said it is so much worse than they told us. He was worried about a great depression, not just a great recession. And he had to really work hard. Under his leadership and thanks to the sacrifice of so many americans, we pulled back from the brink of depression, saved the auto industry, curbed wall street abuses, and provided health care to 16 Million People. [cheering] [applause] now, the only way that the republicans can win is is that they count on collective amnesia from the American People. President obama deserves a lot more credit than he gets for helping us avoid an economic catastrophe. [cheering] [applause] and i know it is very inconvenient for our republican friends, but the facts he speak for themselves. Economic growth is stronger under democratic president s. Unemployment is lower. Rises faster. Et businesses do better. And deficits are smaller. [applause] and one of my favorite inconvenient facts under republicans, recessions have been four times as clearly as under democrats. So, one would have to wonder, why would anybody who cares about the economy which is anybodys why would who cares about seeing paychecks rise again, fighting inequality, raising the minimum wage, dealing with the challenges that confront us believe that going back to the failed policies of trickle down economics would help anybody except for those people at the top . You know, i am not running for third term or president obamas third term. I am running for my first term. [cheering] Hillary HillaryHillary HillaryHillary HillaryHillary Hillary ms. Clinton and i will i will proudly Carry Forward this record of democratic achievement. Doesow what works and what not. It works when middleclass families get a raise. From myl be my Mission First day as president to the last. We need growth that is strong, fair, and longterm. So the rewards of success do not just go to those at the top. Doesnow, when a company well, shareholders and executives are not the only ones who should run a fed. The people who work at that company should as well. [cheering] [applause] the people who actually produce the profits should share in them. If they can work for market baskets across new england, it can work across america. [cheering] [applause] but heres what does not work. Managers earnfund more each year than all of the kindergarten teachers in america combined. [booing] there is a tax loophole that lets them treat their pay like a investment games you have heard of it. The carried interest loophole rather than normal income like everyone else. I am i have called for the ending of that loophole since 2007. I am sick of multimillionaires paying a lower tax rate than a teacher or a nurse. That is wrong. I will close that loophole [cheering] [applause] and i will reform our tax code so everyone pays their fair share, particularly those who have the most benefits. I have proposed incentives to encourage longterm investments in Small Businesses, hard hit communities, and eroding our country. Not the quick speculation and trading that goes on. I want to sleep tax credits that will encourage apprentices and profit sharing. Brought intopeople our economy again, so they have the chance to have a Better Future. [cheering] [applause] i will raise their minimum wage so no one who has to live in america has to live in poverty. I will fight for Small Businesses that create the jobs in america. [cheering] [applause] a Small Business country. I want to be the Small Business president. I do not think we should be children our tax code, our economic policy, toward big businesses that can hire lawyers and lobbyists. Most jobs in america come from Small Businesses. That is why i have a plan to make it easier for entrepreneurs to get loans and avoid red tape. I will hold corporations affordable accountable when drug prices or exploit workers. [cheering] [applause] and that is just the beginning. We are going to do what works. Ause it is important because as important as economic worries are, they are not the only ones that families face today, are they . Andou get out there actually listen to people as i have done all over New Hampshire you hear about problems that rarely make the headlines. Families up at night. I have listened to those stories. I have heard about the heart aches and the hopes. Toreally has motivated me roll up my sleeves to, up with solutions that can help naked the lives of families here and everywhere across our country. Expectedle, i never that Substance Abuse and Mental Health would be major issues in my campaign until i came to keene on my very first trip. I heard story after story about. Eroine, pills, meth, alcohol other addictions. I met a grandmother who is taking us possibility of raising her grandchild because her daughter is struggling with addiction. She cannot the parent she should be. I have sat and listened to moms and dads who have lost their children. Andselors and Doctors Police officers who have done everything they can to help save people. One man in laconia said to me the other day, i do not want to go to more funerals. When you hear those stories, it is hard not only to be moved and said, but it is also motivating. At my first town hall about this issue in keene, hundreds and hundreds of people packed into the gymnasium. And they told their stories. And in laconia just a few days ago, we heard about solutions. I have got a plan to do something about this epidemic. More and better treatment and prevention, especially for young people. Making sure that everyone who writes prescriptions is trained in addiction. Rescue drugs in the hands of First Responders. [cheering] [applause] criminal Justice Reform so nonviolent drug users have time to heal instead of time in jail. [cheering] [applause] there are so many story is that people share with me. That is what drives my campaign. That is what gets me up every day. Often i am asked, how do can you do this it is challenging, but it is also incredibly rewarding. I meet people who are so resilient, so filled with hope. I want to be the president who takes on the big challenges. We have to worry about how we make sure you wrong never gets makese sure you run sure iran never gets a Nuclear Weapon, but i also want to hear asut your challenges president. Like student debt. A student here in New Hampshire [cheering] [applause] summed it uplly for me, saying that paying for college should not be the hardest thing about going to college. Hassanterday, governor and i were at the university of New Hampshire, where we were talking about my plan. And where we heard from two students who very clearly and emotionally talked about what they are challengers were. Trying to get the education they have always dreamed of. Collegey plan the new compact. As president , i will make sure families can of ward to send your kids to college. Everyone with student debt can refinance that debt, just like a mortgage or a car loan. [cheering] [applause] college will not be a barrier anymore in debt will not hold anyone back. I also have to say that i have heard a lot about another challenge that gets too little attention in our longterm looking forward into the future about what kind of country we are going to be and how we can to theirle live up potential. And that is the caregiving crisis in america. [cheering] [applause] i met a woman in dover, caring for her husband with alzheimers, and her mother with alzheimers. I just met a young man backstage who has had to go to parttime work to take care of his mother with alzheimers. People do not know where to turn. They do not know where to get help. Law senator, i passed a giving family caregivers more support. I will makedent, this a National Priority for families. Number one. [cheering] [applause] every one of us knows somebody who could benefit. The veterans, who deserve better care. [cheering] [applause] of children with autism, who need help and solutions. [cheering] [applause] families who cannot find facilities to provide Mental Health treatment for their loved ones, no matter how hard they try. [cheering] [applause] it was summed up for me by a single mom who is juggling a job and courses at a Community College while raising three kids alone. She said i do not expect anything to come easy. Theree asked me, isnt anything we can do so it is not quite so hard . These are all challenges leaders should care about. Problems that do not get nearly enough attention on the campaign trail or in washington. Attention,ly paying as president , we will get results together. Because if you want a president who will tell you everything that is wrong with america and who is to blame for it, you have got plenty of other choices. [laughter] [cheering] [applause] we heargoodness, didnt enough of that the other night at the Republican Debate . But if you want a president who will listen to you, work her heart out to make your life better [cheering] build ather to stronger, fairer, better country, then you are looking at her. [cheering] [applause] Hillary HillaryHillary Hillary hillary knowlinton because, you Hillary Hillary hillary this election, ultimately, is about finding a leader with a vision for the future broad enough to encompass this great country of ours. And the skill and determination to lead us there. And buildo can defend on the progress we have made, not let it slip away or get ripped away. I will stand up to all the attacks from the super pacs and the Koch Brothers every chance i get. [cheering] [applause] and i will do what i have always done to try to overcome the dysfunction in washington. Actually to get things done, like i did when i was first lady. We did not get health care that time. Then i turned around and worked with ted kennedy to get the Childrens Health care program to take care of more than 8 million kids. [cheering] [applause] , anden i was in the senate i realized that our National Guard did not have the same act as to health care, and i teamed up with Lindsey Graham and we passed it. Single one of our National Guard has that same options that they should have had before. [cheering] [applause] i have been fighting my whole life to even the odds for people who have those odds stacked against them. That is what i am going to keep doing. For families, fighting for fairness, fighting for you. And i have learned through a lot of experiences. But i really learned it first from my own mother. By hered and mistreated family, she was out on her own at 14, working as a housemaid. She channeled her hardships into a deep commitment to working to serving and respecting others. ,he has been my touchstone guiding me through my life of service. My first job out of law school was not at some big new york law firm, it was with the childrens defense fund, standing up for kids. [cheering] [applause] every step along the way, i have stood up for women, for children, for families, for underdogs. Needs a champion. And i am just getting warmed up. I believe [cheering] [applause] i believe in america, but i believe in america, we should have each others backs. We should lift each other up, not tear each other down. And that is especially true when it comes to lifting up women, who deserve equal pay for equal work. [cheering] [applause] everyat means, too, family deserves access to quality, affordable childcare so they can actually go to work. [cheering] [applause] every american should have access to paid family leave, so you do not have to choose between a paycheck and taking care of your baby or your mom or your dad. [cheering] [applause] i am a proud democrat, because we are the ones who stand up and who stand up and say the Affordable Care act is here to stay. [cheering] [applause] we have come too far, fought too hard, to let anyone take it away. We are the ones also who understand we have to make Social Security even stronger. And especially for widows, divorced and single women, who were the poorest single women in america. [cheering] [applause] were the ones who support teachers, not scapegoat them. [cheering] [applause] who will invest in university who will invest in universal prekindergarten childcare so all the so all of us get the best start. It is time for us to get over the toxic debates about education that have paralyzed us for too long. Lets focus on what actually is works to help teachers teach and children learn. [cheering] [applause] as president , i am going to actually listen to teachers and learn what they know from being in those classrooms every single day. I will fight for strong Public Schools in every zip code and Community Across america. And i am honored, i am honored, to have earned the endorsement of the nea right here in New Hampshire. [cheering] [applause] and, democrats believe we do not have to choose between protecting our environment, combating Climate Change, and growing our economy. We can do that by embracing clean, Renewable Energy. [cheering] [applause] i want us to set big holes in this country again. I can remember i think there are a few of you who can also remember when president to send aallenged Us Moon Mission that would land a man on the moon and bring him back within a decade. And a lot of people thought it was impossible. Beeny knew what would have i was sure because the president set that goal that america could get it done. And we did. That is the kind of president i want to be. I want to challenge us again, particularly young people again. [cheering] [applause] the end of my first term, we will have installed half a billion more solar panels. Second, weend of my will produce enough Renewable Energy to power every home in america. He can do this we can do this. We can take on Climate Change, not deny it. But take it on. And at the same time, create millions of new jobs and businesses that will make america the Clean Energy Superpower of the 21st century. [cheering] [applause] boy, democrats believe, and we are the only ones left who believe this, we have to stop the flow of secret unaccountable money that distorts our elections and drowns out the voices of american voters. [cheering] [applause] you know, it is predicted by some that our next president may have as many as three appointments to the Supreme Court. You were not convinced to vote for a democrat before, i hope you are now. I will appoint justices who will ghttect every citizens ri to vote incident every corporations right to abide elections to buy elections. [cheering] [applause] and if necessary, i will work to pass a constitutional amendment to undo the Supreme Courts decision in citizens united. [cheering] [applause] and we democrats believe that, no matter you are, with what look like, what a few practice, or who you love, america has a place for you. And you should have the same opportunity as everyone else to live up to your potential. Agenda. Ve a great we know what it means to be a democrat. We will fight that against those who will do, say, and spend whatever it takes to turn our country in a very different direction. Who watch the Republican Debate the other night . Uttons for punishment, you. 15 candidates. Five hours. Not a single fighter for the middle class. And the Fact Checkers are having a field day with their answers. Positions are not just factually inaccurate, they are deeply out of touch and out of date. Not one of them offer a credible plan to make college more affordable or combat Climate Change. Did you hear anything about family leave or preschool . No. Ms. Clinton are what about putting an end to the nonviolence that plagues our communities every single day and what about putting an end to violence of that plagues our communities every single day. Not one of them is willing to say loudly and clearly black lives matter. [cheering] [applause] and of course, no solutions for skyrocketing Prescription Drug costs. No ideas about how to raise income. No ideas at all, when you stop to think about it. But there was one statement i had to agree with. Yeah. Hard to believe, right . As Lindsey Graham said, hillary mile longs a list a to help the middle class. [laughter] [cheering] [applause] that. Ight about absolutely right about that. I do. It was the most honest ring anyone said that night. And i am going to keep adding to that list, keep writing for the thate class, keep showing the middle class has a voice. Do not be the way he handled the question about president obama were shocking but not surprising. Trafficking in president and prejudice and paranoia this entire campaign. Tell you, if you look at the policies of the other republican candidates, they are just trmump without the pizzazz or the hair. He says hateful things about immigrants they do not support a real path to citizenship. We need comprehensive reform, not demagoguery and deportation. [cheering] [applause] and, we have heard mr. Trump insult and demean women. By the way, donald, when you say youd cherish women, that really does not make it any better. Stop cherishing women and start respecting women . [cheering] [applause] listen closely. He is not the only one. Although the republican candidates want to defund planned parenthood. Many are willing to shut down matterernment for it, no the consequences for our country. We are talking about a Womans Health service that provides half a million Breast Cancer exams every year. That is what they want to stop. Here in New Hampshire, you know about this. Last month, your executive council cut off funding to planned parenthood in the state. On they, three Men Executive Council voted to deny women access to health care across New Hampshire. I would like them, along with the republican candidates to meet the moms who caught her cancer early thanks to a screening. Or the teenager who avoided an unintended pregnancy because she had access to Birth Control. Or the survivor of Sexual Assault who got emergency contraception. [cheering] [applause] you know, these extremist views may be right for the republican primary, but they are dead wrong for america. I know that when i talk like this, some of the republicans say i am playing the gender card. Equal payalling for and paid leave and Womens Health is playing the gender card, deal me in. [cheering] [applause] deal me in deal me in hillary i am going to keep fighting. I will fight until every woman has the rights, the opportunities, and the respect she deserves until every little girl in america knows without a doubt she can grow up to be anything she wants. Even president of the United States. [cheering] [applause] friends, lets go out and wage this campaign and elect democrats at every level. Lets take back school boards. Lets take that be legislatures. Lets take back every position all the way to the white house. Because if this election is about americas future, not americas fear, democrats will win. [cheering] [applause] hear mr. Trump saying he wants to make America Great again, respond america is great, we just have to make it work for all of the people in our country again. So, i think we are going to have a great campaign. It is going to be fun. Because what makes the other folks uncomfortable is what makes america what we are today. Our diversity, our ingenuity, our innovation. The signs of american dynamism. Our immigrant culture. All we do to build a country where everybody has a place. Limits one are no what we can achieve when we put our, and interests in front of self interests and common sense in front of nonsense. I am fighting or that america. I am fighting for all americans, not just some. Struggling, the striving, and the successful. I am running for everyone who has been knocked down but refused to be knocked out. I amhting for you to fighting for you, democrats. Lets go out and make america the future. [cheering] [applause] [indiscernible] hillary, we love you. We love you [indiscernible] ladies and will come, please welcome mayor stefany shaheen. [applause] good morning New Hampshire democrats. And hey, i really like how this crowd looks. Lets take a couple pictures. I know, lets take a selfie what a great crowd. Lets give it up, New Hampshire democrats. [cheering] [applause] could not be more excited to be here with you this morning. Although we serve as chair and cochair eyes the New Hampshire chapter of the democratic municipal offices. Working together to tackle the harry when epidemic responsibly, an epidemic that has taken more lives this year in the state of New Hampshire than highway fatalities. And that our firefighters [cheering] [applause] our firefighters up in the back and our Police Officers and our First Responders have everything they need to do their jobs and keep our communities safe. We know when we win at the statelevel, we win at the level. When we win at the local level, we win at the national level. When we get democrats elected, we win altogether. That is why we are excited to introduce some of our great it is for mayor this fall that Will Champion and our values as democrats at city halls. Our next mayor of the great city of manchester, alderman joyce craig. [cheering] [applause] our next mayor of the great city donchez. , jim [cheering] [applause] concord. Jim belay of [applause] mayor paul grainier of berlin. [applause] rochester, mayor of senator caroline mccarley. [applause] franklin, ayor of logan barbosa. [applause] we are excited. We are filled with high energy. We are organized. And we are ready to win this fall in cities across state. But we cannot do this alone. We need your help. We need your help temporary we need your help to win every race. So get involved. Talk to your local communities. Talk about how you can reach outs. How you can help us win and how our Democratic Values will continue to shine throughout this great state. Thank you. Lets get it done. [cheering] [applause] [applause] in New Hampshire, democrat Jeanne Shaheen defeating the former senator of massachusetts. Tonight, the people of New Hampshire chose to put New Hampshire first. [cheering] making a difference for New Hampshire. Helping Small Businesses grow. She is now the Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Small Business. Her Small Business jobs act cut our taxes. Bringing health care closer to our veterans and getting new andran centers in keene concord. Real stories and real results. Helping seniors facing foreclosure. Taking on the big banks so people can keep their homes. Expanding health care for our kids and families. Protecting every womans reproductive rights. A leader in washington. We can count on Jeanne Shaheen. She fights for the people of New Hampshire. Getting passage of Bipartisan Legislation to get lower energy costs. Working to lower Interest Rates on Student Loans to make college more affordable. The only woman in the nation to serve as governor and United States senator. Putting New Hampshire first. Againm so proud to once be able to represent the people of New Hampshire in the United States senate. [cheering] ladies and does make him United States senator. Ladies and gentlemen, United States senator. [applause] you are not worn out yet, are you . We are just getting started. The best is yet to come. Thank you, New Hampshire democrats. [applause] you because you are simply the best. [chanting] is hillary supporters back there cheering for me. We need to bring them out front. Was in the top political battle and you are there for me. I could not have won without you and my husband billy, who is here today, stephanie, who you just saw, our whole family, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. [applause] of course after that fight, i can tell you that i am pretty happy not to be on the ballot in 2016. Just think about all the amazing democrats who are running next year. From state rep to congress to havenor, to president , we the best candidates. [applause] it is democrats up and down the ballot to make college affordable, to increase the minimum wage and to make sure seniors have a secure retirement. We want a country where everyone fair shotare at at success. That is what democrats have always stood for. Doing . E the republicans they want to defund planned parenthood and they are willing to shut down the government to do it. [booing] well, they have tried that before. When theyack in 2013 shut down the government because they wanted to repeal the Affordable Care act . Them we did not let repeal health care and we will not let them defund planned parenthood now. [applause] i have a few tips about New Hampshire for the republicans who are running for president. New hampshire is a state where women support planned parenthood. [cheering] and New Hampshire is a state that believes in Marriage Equality. [cheering] New Hampshire is a state that understands that Climate Change is real and we must do something about it. [cheering] Pay Attention because finally i have a little geography tip for those republicans running for president. Sullivan county is not in the north country. [cheering] seriously, we face difficult challenges in this state and in this country. It is healthy to have policy debates, but they should be civil debates. Sayatters what candidates and how they react to what their supporters say. [applause] we are hearing some disturbing and dangerous rhetoric at republican events. Most recently thursday in rochester at the top of an. At the trump event. The fact is this country is a country of immigrants. We are diverse racially and ethnically and we are diverse in a religious beliefs. [applause] it is one of the things that makes this country so great. There is no place for overheated , nativist rhetoric in the campaign or the president of the United States of america. [applause] we want leaders to appeal to our highest ideals, not to our fears. Our great governor mikey hasson is one of those leaders. Even when some republicans wanted to pay politics with the stayed at the table, rolled up her sleeves, and found republicans she could work with. Together, they got it done, so congratulations to the governor and all the legislators, the representatives and senators in this room for the great work you did to get that budget. [applause] we are all waiting to see what is next for maggie, but we know that whatever it is, she is going to make us proud. [applause] from we are going to hear our wonderful democratic president ial candidate. [cheering] that got everybody excited. Bernie] ie, and i love mark omalley and all the candidates. I am supporting Hillary Clinton for president. [applause] i am supporting hillary because i know her and a tester. And i trust her. I think she is exactly the person we need in the white house. [cheering] i watched this some of the president ial, the republican president ial debate the other night and i heard many of you in this room did as well. Unfortunately, what we saw were candidates who are there mongers, made things up, hurled insults at democrats and at each , and fundamentally avoided addressing the challenges that working families are facing. Anyone of our democratic wouldential candidate make a better president than the ones on stage at that debate. [applause] bernie]g so thank you. Thank you to all the candidates who are here today for putting your names on the ballot and for fighting to make our state and our country a better place. Newthank you again hampshire democrats for all you have done for me over the years and thank you to chairman buckley and his Terrific Team for the biggest and best Democratic Convention in our history. On to victory in 2016 [applause] you proved that in the Granite State we are ready to put politics aside and do what is right for the middle class, for Small Business, for students , seniors, veterans and hardworking families all across this city. I will work with anybody on any it is inause i believe the best interest of this great state and i will always stand up for what i believe in. Please welcome congresswoman annie custer. Kuster. [applause] [happy] [applause] goodesswoman kuster afternoon. Thank you. I am so excited to be here with you and to see so many friendly faces. I want to thank you. Every single one of you in this hard hours the long to win last fall and together we will help every Granite State family succeed and prosper. ,egardless of whatever you do wherever you live, and whoever you love. [cheering] our ou shared vision for a Brighter Future is a theme is what the Granite State or is all about. Spotlights on this, you and i and everyone in this hall have the unique opportunity to share with the rest of the have theat it means to real New Hampshire advantage. [applause] out. Ecret is already the Granite State was recently ranked number one in the country in terms of quality of life. Is Pretty Amazing and something we are cheering for, but i believe it. Inc. About it. From our pristine think about it. From our pristine environment to our special tradition for kerry to our neighbors in need, to our impressive manufacturing, health care, education and torres and. And torres him. The real New Hampshire advantage is our shared prosperity in a terrific place to live and work and stay and play. As democrats, we all know the importance of caring for the middle class. Over the past few years, our economy has been steadily improving, offering muchneeded relief to hardworking families all across the Granite State. State lucky to live in a with one of the lowest Unemployment Rates in the entire country. [applause] as we cheer, we all know that many Granite Staters continue to face low wages, lack of paid family leave, and storing Child Care Cost and college that. College debt. Thetill have work to duties burden on families tried to get by, so that is what my working families agenda is all about. Here is what you sent to washington to do. I am fighting to ensure that every family in New Hampshire can make a full, fair living wage. [applause] i am fighting to ensure that every family has access to Affordable Health care, Affordable Housing, and affordable transportation. I am fighting for quality child care for our children and i am fighting for debtfree college. That is something we can all stand up for. Never, everwill give up on the promise of Social Security and medicare. They are here to stay. [cheering] i, are workingnd to win our future and that is what we are going to do, so let me tell you about my vision for a Better Future for our families. Staterworking granite should ever find themselves out of a job when they need to take time off from work because of an illness or to care for loved one or two bring home a new baby. That thiso tell you one is personal for me. I have eight nurses and four of them are bringing home new babies this year and im going to fight every single day for fair paying family leave. Tohave got to Work Together make paid family leave a reality for workers across New Hampshire and across the nation. Lets simply help folks balance their work and family lives. Hey will be more productive they will be more loyal. And they will have better, stronger driving families and we will have better, stronger thriving communities. We can get this done. Needs to increase theminimum wage and pass paycheck fairness act so both the fathers and the mothers can bring home their fair share of the paycheck to support their families. We can get this down and i want the press to know that these are the New Hampshire family values that we are fighting for. [cheering] you know that my number one priority since i went to congress is creating good jobs and expanding jobtraining and career advancement. That is why in my staff with my office and with all of you behind us, we are expanding exports and we are hosting job fairs in every corner of the district to help match opportunity and prosperity. We are growing opportunity by breaking federal fund home to New Hampshire to fund our Community College network all across my district. Think about it. We have a new advanced Manufacturing Program in nashua where people can get a twoyear degree and walk right out the highpayinggood jobs with benefits and a future for their families. [cheering] upper my friends in the valley, we are creating a whole new campus so that river valley Community College in claremont will have a campus in lebanon for health care and technology and good highpaying jobs in the community. Theto my friends all across north country, we are going to to whitemitories mountain Community College so that the welders and chefs will have a great education and find good highquality jobs. [applause] we are growing our network of business incubators and innovation hubs to pave the way for the next generation of invention and Economic Growth in franklin and claremont and nashua and littleton and all across the state. I urge the white house to locate the Manufacturing Innovation Institute in New Hampshire to help us bring together public and private resources because we have brilliant Granite State innovators, and we want to help these companies expand and grow. We can do so much more. Instead of sending jobs overseas, lets fight for our make it in america agendas and make these products right here in New Hampshire and sell them abroad so it is New Hampshire companies and workers who profit, not the corporations that ship our jobs overseas. Opportunities that we have in New Hampshire, there ,s one cold fact that we know and that is holding us back from our collective future. Collective New Hampshire rate number two in the entire Country College debt. Along with Elizabeth Warren and others in the United States senate and the United States congress, i am sponsoring legislation to give every family the opportunity to refinance those loans at a lower rate, and i will continue to help families save and pay for college so that every child in New Hampshire has their slice of the American Dream. We can do this. From national Community College and an hdi, to river valley, king state, white mountain, we can make sure that we are building the talent to thrive and succeed. That is what the New Hampshire advantage is truly about. [applause] we still have work to do. We cannot thrive in these 21st century jobs when our infrastructure has not been updated since the last century. That is why i am fighting for Affordable Housing. We are building housing for Homeless Veterans employment and fighting to keep Affordable Housing in lebanon and all across the district. We are fighting to expand railing and increased federal spending for roads and bridges. ,e will bring rails from nashua mark my words, and we will repair and replace dozens of bridges and roads all across this state and here is why we know how to protect and create hundreds of construction jobs and shortened the commute for granitehardworking state families. That is a better and Brighter Future. Saylosing today, i want to we are truly blessed to live in one of the most beautiful states in the union. A state where our families have extraordinary opportunities for success, but there is even more that we can do to move New Hampshire and our country forward. No matter where they start out, that everyake sure Granite State family gets their slice of the American Dream. Here is our job today. Every single one of us. To share our priorities with these president ial candidates in the coming months will make life better in the future brighter for every american. Speak up, step up, act up, get involved. We can create more jobs and Productive Work environment. We can improve and expand educational access for every family. We can fix our housing and braille and roads and bridges. These are not just top hampshire,or new user priorities that every single one of us can agree on. Supporting the economic success of every American Family and moving our country forward to a better, Brighter Future, so thank you for everything you do every single day at the grassroots. Thank you to ray buckley and his team for the most extraordinary democratic and should never have Democratic Convention ever. Lets get up and show them how we do it in New Hampshire. Lets get this done maggie, thank you, carol, thank you to all of you at the state level. We can get this done. Lets show america and when the future. Thank you. Lets show america and win the future. Thank you. [applause] you would like to make an announcement. We will not stick our finger in the air. We will take the stands, important once. I believe we are standing at americanhold of a new opportunity, if on the we have courage and foresight. We will not talk about great things, we will do them. In maryland, we passed a living wage, we passed Marriage Equality and we passed the dream act. We made our Public Schools the best in america or five years in a row. Towe will allow ourselves feel and feel ourselves to act. The week that baltimore corrupted was a heartbreaking week or all of us, for so many places in the country. Of aere are whole swaths population that feel unneeded, unrecognized, unnecessary and unheard. We must do better as a people. We will never forget where we come from that always remember where we were going. My dad went to college because of the g. I. Bill. Family inairly poor pittsburgh and he was able to go to college and provide better for his family and that is really what our country is all about at our best. To recognize the potential and each individual to make us better as a whole nation. This is america. We do not hand out turns. We are in it. We earn it. Please welcome governor martin omalley. [applause] [cheering] governor omalley thank you very much. [chanting omalley] omalley thank you very much. It is great to be here with all of the once again in New Hampshire where democracy is still alive and well and every person matters. [applause] knowing that New Hampshire has the thirdlargest legislature in the world, i would like to see a show of hands how many of you who are currently serving in the legislature or have served in the legislature . And let us all salute your service in democracy. [applause] like greato knowledge a couple of other people. I would like to acknowledge joyce craig and jim duncan is on their recent successes and i were some every success. [cheering] once to a knowledge to supporters of my campaign, dan oneill and commissioner paul martin and their success on tuesday. [cheering] in theow americans Granite State, my name is martin omalley. I am a lifelong democrat. I am running for president of the United States, and im running for one reason and that is to rebuild the truth of the American Dream that we share and i intend to win. [applause] opened last four weeks, we have but twod not one, unanswered route of nationally televised republican president ial debates. Racistthat antiimmigrant donald trump. [applause] their party once had leaders and visionaries. Lincoln asserted our unity and common humanity. Eisenhower liberated the world and built our nations highway system to Better Connect us. Create traffic jams, they denigrate new american immigrants, shut down our federal government, threaten to unfunded planned parenthood and the say awful things about women and they dismiss everything from climate, science, to vaccines. They can have their anger and their fear, but they cannot go unanswered. Anger and fear never built a great country. [applause] what our nation needs is new leadership, new divisions. A newur country needs is consensus, not new hates. For the progress of our nation and the dream we share, that new leadership must come from the Democratic Party. [cheering] you and i are part of living, self creating mistry called the United States of america. The promise at the heart of that extraction, not some big idea floating out there somewhere, it is the very real promise, a covenant between us as a people that wherever you start, whatever your parents background or zip code, you start you start put threeyearold hard work, your own grit, talent and determination. You can get ahead. Call it an economy that works for all of us. Call it a country that works for all of us. Call it the American Dream. Whatever you call it, the truth of the matter is it worked very well for 240 years as a country and it can work again. [applause] the genius of our country as plainly as i can state it is this that we take action in every generation to include more theur people more fully in economic, social, and political life of our nation. This is the genius of american capitalism as well. When it is not rigged, manipulated by the powerful wealthy interest, annapolis, or economic or a list at the expense of small and familyowned businesses. It is about fuller dissipation, fuller education, the dignity of every person, opportunity for all, this is who we are when we are truly ourselves. Let me ask all of you a question. Show of hands, how many of you firmly believe that you have enjoyed a better quality of life than your parents and enjoyed . Nts raise your hands if that is true for you. Almost every hand. Let me ask you a second and tougher question. How many of you believe just as firmly that your children and your grandchildren will enjoy a better quality of life . Some. And that my friends is the central question on this table of democracy that i share and we must answer the question with hope and optimism but most importantly with action and thought words. I campaign and not words. My campaign is not about digging trenches around those who are already entrenched. It is about us. It is about we the people, rogressive champions wellrespected activists, and new leaders. I am not the only candidate for president who will come before you who holds progressive values, but i am the only candidate for president with 15 years of executive experience as a big city mayor and as a governor actually turning those progressive values into actions. Real results. [cheering] new leadership, getting things done, solving problems, actions and not worth as mayor and governor. I forged a new consensus for progress that reduced Violent Crime to 30 year lows and reducing incarceration rates to 20 year lows and repealing the death penalty. Those were actions, not words. [cheering] while other states tried to cut their way to prosperity. In maryland instead, i forged a new consensus to increase funding for Public Education by 37 , making our schools the best in america five years in a row. [applause] refroze College Tuition for four years in a row to make college more affordable for more families, became the first state in the nation to pass living wage, we raised the minimum wage, those were actions and not words. We passed fair share and expanded collective bargaining so that workers could bargain for better wages for all of us. [cheering] the u. S. Chamber of commerce named this the number one state in america for innovation and entrepreneurship as a defendant the highest media may come all the way through the recession. These were actions, not words. Andwe expanded family leave instead of making the party for people to fill, we made it easier for people to vote and drivers license for newell for american immigrants. [applause] after the slaughter of innocent in newtown, connecticut, we passed comprehensive gun safety legislation with background checks and a ban on combat assault weapons. [applause] actions. E these were actions. Not words. We also passed the dream act and Marriage Equality. Now republican brothers and sisters tried to petitioner to referendum to do. We took our justice the people at the polls and we won by overwhelming margins with actions and not words. [applause] wife katie and i have four great kids. Our oldest daughter grace is a first grade teacher in Baltimore CityPublic Schools. [applause] true story. After her father announced for president about 100 days ago, she returned to her First Grade Class at walter elementary, adorable, eager to learn and one hundred percent africanamerican kids. A little girl came up to her and there was a buzz in the classroom and she talked to by the sleeve and she said miss omalley, i am not so sure about this idea of your father when he for president because quite frankly, i kind of like barack obama. [laughter] [applause] well, a lot of us like barack obama. [cheering] we have come a long way since the wall street crash and the bush recession of 2008 when our country teetered on the brink of a second great depression, we elected a new leader and barack obama to move our country forward and that is exactly what president obama has been. [applause] the good news is this, our country is now creating 66 months in a row of positive month over month job creation and that is the good news. [applause] our country is doing better, and that is the good news for these unanswered Republican Debates that are keeping the American People from hearing. What but we elected a president , didnt we . Not a magician and no one person can fix in eight years of bad policies of the prior 30 years. We still have work to do. For the hard truth of our times us are earning the same or less than we were told use ago. That is not how our economy is supposed to work. That is not how our country is supposed to work and that is the first time that has happened this size since world war ii. There is a growing injustice in our country and economic inequality veterans to terrorist a part that threatens to tear as a part, the hands of very few that it is taking opportunity out of the homes and in neighborhoods of the many, and this did not happen by accident. Powerful, wealthy, special interests have used our government to create in our own country and economy that is slowly leaving the majority of our people behind. Look up far we have strayed from the choices of our parents and grandparents. My dad went to college on the g. I. Bill and 50 years ago, the average employee at General Motors could send a kid to college, get this, average employee to send the kid to weeks wagesust two for the years tuition. Today, we settled whole aneration of kids with amount of debt, which no other nation on the planet does. Meanwhile, last year alone on wall street, bonuses totaled more than all the own needs of every american working at minimum wage combined. This is not the American Dream. This is not how our economy is supposed to work and this is not our country is supposed to work. [applause] in time for times than these, Franklin Roosevelt told us not to be afraid. In changing times, john kennedy told us to govern is to choose. Progress is ahat choice, job creation is a choice. Whether we give our children a future with more opportunity or less opportunity is also a choice. To succeed again, we must only returned to our true selves and remember that our economy is not money, it is people. It is all of our people. [applause] middleclass is not the consequence of Economic Growth. A stronger middleclass is the cause of economic. [cheering] know what American Family that works hard and plays by the rules should have to raise their children in poverty. We must take action together to serve the minimum wage to 15 an hour however and wherever return. [applause] we must return to the Economic Justice of paying overtime pay for overtime work and we must make it easier for workers to join labor unions and bargain collectively for better wages for all of us. [applause] isnt that right, firefighters . We must advance the cause of andle pay for equal work paid family leave so that women cant dissipate fully in the Economic Life of our nation. [applause] fully in theipate Economic Life of our nation. [applause] because when women succeed, america succeeds. [applause] , i put forward 15 strategic goals to rebuild the American Dream that we share, increasing every day wealth of American Families by at least 25,000 within 10 years, making wages go up by 4 a year within four years, full employment for american veterans, taking big money out of politics by implementing publicly financed Congressional Elections within five years. [applause] reducing deaths from overdoses 2020, making National Service a universal option for every young person in america. [applause] and instead of cutting Social Security, we need to expand Social Security. [applause] do we want to make wages go up for all americans . Then let us bring 11 million of our neighbors out of the off the books, underground shadow economy i passing comprehensive Immigration Reforms. [applause] the enduring symbol of our nation donald trump is not the barbed wire fence, it is the statue of liberty. [applause] so let us take the actions necessary to make Debt Free College degrees the reality for all family within five years. I the first candidate in the Democratic Party and let us hope not the last to put forward a plan to move forward our country to a 100 Clean Electric Energy grid by 2050 and create 5 million jobs along the way. [applause] these are the ambitions that are worthy of a great people, but none of these rings can be accomplished by words alone. They will all require action and new leadership. Why the leadership . Because there are also a couple of things that as a country and as a party and to stop doing. First among them, we must stop giving a free pass to the boys in the big banks to run over the common good of the American People. [applause] you tell me how it is that not a was everll street ceo convicted of a single crime related to the 2008 economic meltdown . Not a single one. [applause] pass ave we come to country that you can get pulled over for having a broken tail light, but if you reclamations economy, you are totally untouchable . We must reinstate and prosecute financial crimes. [applause] if the bank is too big to fail and too big to jail, and too big damnnage, then it is too date and it needs to be broken up before it breaks us up. [applause] the second thing we need to stop doing is a party and as a country is to stop sending american jobs and profits overseas with bad trade deals like the transpacific partnership. [applause] many of us remember nafta. Many of us remember nafta. We traded away good manufacturing jobs and in return we got back empty promises and empty pockets. I am fundamentally and adamantly opposed to secret trade deals that are congress has forced to vote on before we are allowed as citizens to repent. To read them. [applause] it is not what the other countries are doing to us, it is what we are not doing for ourselves. We need to build up our own american economy. [applause] world is role in the to lead by example, the cause arising global middle class free. Rom oppression, hunger, fear the images of the humanitarian refugee crisis in syria that all of us have seen, that little , parentsy washing running for their lives with kids in their arms, those images tell us that as a nation we can and must do better if we will have credibility as a moral leader among nations. [applause] our own policies of forcibly detaining women and children refugees in forprofit detention camps on our southern border tells us we are not leading up to our principles, even at home. [applause] we can and we must bring forward new thinking in the conduct of our Foreign Policy as a nation. We can and we must forge new alliances for a more effective and farseeing National Security strategy that takes action to reduce threats before we get bored into military actions or other actions that might diminish us as a nation. All of these things are connected, and all of these on makingend ourselves stronger at home. They depend on the choices we make, the better choices because of concern and care for one another as americans, because of the compassion we have for the larger family of humanity for which we are apart. The poet laureate of the American Dream, bruce springsteen, [applause] once asked, is a dream alive if it dont come true or is it something worse . Whether or not the American Dream is made a living reality again for our children and grandchildren really is not about the big banks, not even about the big money that seeks to take over politics, it is about us. Od, us, period. It is about whether we have the determination and grit to forge ford with new american progress. I believe we do and i bet that you believe it, too. We are good people. We are compassionate people, and we are a generous people. We stand on the threshold of a new era of american progress. Together we must take the necessary actions to walk through that door. It is a toughat fight, and yes, i know that there are many among this thats a we face tough odds. I never bet against america. I kind of like tough fights. Maybe it is the toughness that are hidden in god lets us know we are fighting for something worth saving. The American Dream is worth saving, our childrens future is worth saving, this and it is worth saving, and the Democratic Party is up to this fight. Four hours is the party of the people, ours is the party of action, and ours is the only party today that can result the American Dream and make the promise real for all americans again. I need your help in this fight. May god bless the people of New Hampshire, god bless, america, thank you very, very much. [applause] [chanting omalley] [applause] please welcome mark conway. [applause] [indiscernible] please welcome our conway. [applause] mark conway. [applause] mark conway good morning excuse me, good afternoon, New Hampshire democrats. We have been here longer than we ought, but the speakers have been worth it. It is an honor to be with you today. Before i get further into my remarks, i just want to say, lets get a round of applause for raymond, collin, and all the democratic staff up with the convention on today. [applause] let there be no doubt that the future american democracy depends on this winning in 2016, it really does. Because like never before in our history, the money special interest like the Koch Brothers continued cost or in on wall street and washington, and even our statehouse. But New Hampshire democrats know how to beat them. We did it last year and we will do it again in 2016. Shaheen want with all the millions spent against her, and governor hassan gave us a responsible and balanced budget even with the onslaught of millions of dollars being spent against them. Interestgh the special will spend millions more in New Hampshire next year, we will send a democrat to the white house, we will send a democrat to the United State Senate and back to the governors office. [applause] we all know the reason why this is happening. It is because of a republican, led Supreme Court. As a result, millions of americans have given up. Why vote . Why try . They feel the deck is stacked against them, and it would be if it was not for us. All of us. Here and across the nation as democrats. Here in New Hampshire, we the people still have the power to fight back against special interest. I know this because i took them on in our state and won. My career as a business person, iwatch corporate greed and selfinterest take over our financial markets. In 2002, i was asked to become the state chief financial regulator. I knew this was my time to make a difference. I assembled what i believed was an amazing team and we took immediate action against corporations. Many of you may recall the dennis, hower curtain by the 15,000 umbrella stand, the 30 million mansion all here in New Hampshire. This one successful New Hampshire company cap ceo and board of directors who were theirlly fleecing shareholders and employers. Heres what we did about it. We forced the resignation of every Single Member of the board of directors, that had never been done before in the history of this country. [applause] and we secured the second highest security supplement ever paid for that date in this country. [applause] else. S something important. Dennis went to prison. [applause] next, we took on the swiss bank ubs which put at risk some 22 million in Student Loans in our state. We won that one, too, and we were the first state regulator in this country to have a successful action against an investment bank. [applause] period andhtyear office of 10 people, we find, these banks, these wall street interests over 15 million and we said, no, not in New Hampshire. We did not care about the corporate intimidation or their special interest bullies. It is 1968 campaign for the presidency, a landmark campaign, Barbara Kennedy said something as important then as it is now. He said this each time a person stands up for an ideal, ask to improve the lives of others, that person sends a tiny ripple of hope and those ripples build a current. Letsmake waves in 2016, thank the Koch Brothers both. Next you, we continue to fight. We began in 2008, and we would like to elect to keep our nation and state great. Thank you for listening, New Hampshire democrats. [applause] [indiscernible] please welcome president glenn bracket. [applause] president good afternoon honored guests, family and friends. I would like to take a few minutes to talk about the labor union in New Hampshire. Yeah. As many of you may know, my previous position as president of the 2320, along with president don of 1400, we represent the telecommunication workers in the state of New Hampshire. In february of this past year, the ibew declared victory after a hard fought fivemonth strike against fairpoint communications. [applause] you all need to know that fairpoint is a north carolinabased antiunion company. Theyre negotiating strategy was on day one of bargaining to pass a comprehensive package of contract proposals. Each and every proposal in that package was totally and completely concessionary on the part of the union. On anypany did not budge of their proposals, and they never responded to any of our counterproposals. In effect, their initial proposals were a take it or leave it proposition. I am telling you this was Union Busting at its finest. Unionbusting. What could bes of described as surface bargaining, fairpoint declared that we were at contract impasse and they imposed their original terms and conditions in the workers in the state of New Hampshire. I am here to tell you it was ugly. Because you see, they took away our pensions, they took away our health care, and they took away our benefits package. They took away virtually everything we had worked for and bargained for for 30 years. But what they could not take away from us, and they tried, but what they cannot take away from us was the solidarity and strength of our collective membership. [applause] and by utilizing the good oldfashioned grassroots, organizing and mobilizing, we stood as one unit and we went to battle for the sake of our families and our friends and our allies stood with us. From senator shaheen to, so men ,u the congresswoman kuster to the executive council and every Single Member of the state Democratic Senate party, they stood with us also. [applause] the support weve received was awesome. But the family of unions in New Hampshire had their backs in a big way. The the teachers, to professional firefighters of New Hampshire, to the postal workers , they all stood with us. We had the cw eight, we had every local in the company, we had that the iq and if i forgot anybody, i apologize, but the New Hampshire support of the Union Families all came together and they supported us every step of the way. [applause] in short, our friends and allies suspect together with us and they made it possible that you made it possible to successfully bargained back our pension, our health care and other benefits. [applause] because all of us sticking together made it possible for us to win that strike. I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone one of you as our allies and partners for what you did to help us. Not have succeeded without he appeared on behalf of the Telecommunications Workers of the state of New Hampshire, i thank you. [applause] we did succeed. , we this collective victory have now set the stage for great things to happen this upcoming election. We have proven that a strong, Grassroots Movement supported by partners and allies is the single most powerful weapon we have in our arsenal. The New Hampshire aflcio is committed to continue to build, expand and educate this Grassroots Movement and we are committed to utilizing this army to turnroots supporters out the vote and elect those likeminded representatives will support us. At the state and federal level. [applause] we are committed with the help of our partners and allies to affect policy changes that will improve the lives of New Hampshires citizens and their families. Some of these changes have to include a minimum wage that is a living wage, not at poverty wage. [applause] pay for equal work because wage discrimination is hurting New Hampshire families. [applause] reestablish much and long ignored prevailing wage rate for workers in the state of New Hampshire. And we need to ensure the continued ability for every citizen of New Hampshire to have access to quality Affordable Health care. [applause] we are also committed to communicate clearly labours position on every single piece of legislation in which we have an interest. We are committed to an open and constant dialogue between labor and our partners and our allies. Onare equally committed behalf of our members and families and grassroots reporters to seek accountability for those we support but did not support us in return. Labor in New Hampshire is going to continue to mobilize. Labor in New Hampshire is going to continue to organize. We are going to turn out the vote and we are going to elect those that support us. [applause] we can do great things if we stick together. Labor in New Hampshire has just proven that we will stick together. I ask all of you here today to join us as partners and allies in this battle. Together, we can and we will do tremendous things. Thank you also much. [applause] thank you all so much. [applause] please welcome [applause] thank you. What a crowd. So much energy. Manchester is exploding. Keep it up. For people of win New Hampshire and the people of this country. [applause] beits a great joy for me to with so many grassroots activists. That is where i came from. I served sidebyside with all of you bringing important changes. You gave me the great privilege of being the first woman from New Hampshire to ever hold federal office and i thank you for that. [applause] thank you. Time kept saying at the that i was there to serve the rest of us. I kept my promise because i know that Public Office is a public trust. We must never forget that. That i always been a populist and they always will be. My father who was republican used to say to me our purpose in life is to comfort the afflicted and afflict the two comfortable. Too comfortable. Thats what we need to do. Bring fairness and opportunity to all americans. Thats our democratic agenda and that is why we win the majority of the races in a very tough district. We are a little short on democratic registration the first district. Republicans have an advantage. With all of your work, most of the time, we have overcome that. Thank you for the hard work and keep going. [applause] quote s d like to hirley who said she was on and unbossed. Ught i am grateful. Thanks to all of you, i did win the majority of these races. I had the great privilege of voting our democratic principles. I was there voting to raise the minimum wage because of you. I was there when we voted to save the economy in the auto industry. I was therefore the Lily Ledbetter act and fair pay. [applause] not done yet. We have to keep going. I was there talking about government intrusion and our right to make her own decisions and our privacy. I was there to vote against dont ask dont tell and eliminate that discrimination forever. [applause] because of you, i was there to help end the iraq war and cut the funding and i thank you for that. [applause] and i was there because of you on the education and labor committee, fighting for the rights for workers to be able to unionize and make her own decisions. Their own decisions. That fight goes on. [applause] i was there for working men and women and all the struggles that we have had in washington to help the middle class and those who was fired to be in the middle class. Aspire to be in the middle class. I was there on one of the three committees who wrote the healthcare bill because of all of you. I have a message from one of my brothers who just had surgery for advanced prostate cancer. , he hadof all of you Health Insurance and he said to say thank you. [applause] and i say thank you for my family. [applause] i never knew it would be personal, but i do health care is personal to everybody. It changes peoples lives, so i thank you for that. Hard work is not finished and we know that. We have to have campaignfinance reform. Does anybody wonder why [applause] we have to continue to grow the economy. We need more jobs and we need wage fairness. We need an infrastructure bank, we need to invest in our infrastructure. This creates jobs and helps businesses. To protect womens rights to make their own medical decisions and protect their health care. [applause] and we need to give all americans the same protections that heterosexuals have in workplaces. Its time to and discriminations country discrimination in this country. Nd we are going to do that [applause] we have to double down on our efforts to stamp out poverty. Some horrible figures came out 2013, 1. 52. 5 million children spent part of that youre homeless. Year homeless. This is unacceptable and we work hard and we need all of you to keep working so that these children do not live in persistent poverty and they can be part of the American Dream. [applause] we need to help our Small Businesses compete. We need to help them prosper. We have a fair tax code for them and we have to make it easier for them to compete and prosper and create jobs. This is just as important as everything else. We needed to switch this country to Renewable Energy and by Climate Change. Fight Climate Change. [applause] we have to do this. We have to do this for all of us. We have to do this for our children and grandchildren and the people right now and the businesses. This is something we must continue our focus and really change the way that we do business. In short, we need to jumpstart the American Dream. I believe in it. My parents always talked about the American Dream. My father was in world war ii and after the war, he went to gotol on the g. I. Bill and an education and all his children grew up in the middle class. My parents played by the rules, they pay their taxes and when they were tired, they collected medicare and Social Security. That is the contract we have with the people of this country and we need to honor that. [applause] and never stop fighting for that for every generation. Is this the democratic agenda . Yes. Is this my agenda . Yes. Thats why im announcing that i am going to run again for the house in 2016. [applause] thank you. I am in. [applause] thank you. I have one question. I am in. Are you . [applause] lets get back on track. Whatnk all of you for youve done for everybody in New Hampshire and america. You are the ones who make the change in this country and i thank you all for that. [applause] thank you. [applause] we have for beautiful kids and seven incredible grandchildren. I want to major her the country we leave them is a nation that we are proud of. We dont have a Strong Economy unless we have a very well educated workforce. Tuition free. I dont want to super people not go to the doctor when they are sick because they cannot afford to pay the fee. The United States must join the rest of the industrialized world and guarantee health care to all as a right. [applause] guest there is nothing more [indiscernible] Bernie Sanders we have a small window of opportunity to transform our Energy System, cut costs and move in a different direction. Puttingpaign is about americans back to work and decent paying jobs. Lets create and maintain 13 million jobs. That is the underlying of american democracy. This type of rigged economy is not what america is about. This has to change. As your president , together, we are going to change it. Today in america, we have enormous problems. They are solvable problems. We must make policy that improves the lives of all of our people. Thats how we transform america. [applause] [applause] [applause] senator Bernie Sanders [applause] [applause] thank you. [applause] [crowd chanting] bernie, bernie, bernie [applause] Bernie Sanders it certainly sounds like some people are ready for a Political Revolution. [applause] Bernie Sanders let me thank all of you, not only for being here today, but for the enormously important work you do day after day come understanding that New Hampshire plays a unique role in the political process. You are fighting not only to improve the lives of people in New Hampshire, but people all over this country. Thank you very much for what you do. [applause] Bernie Sanders when i announced my candidacy 4. 5 months ago, i think it is fair to say that a lot of people did not take our campaign terribly seriously. It is also fair to say that in haslast 4. 5 months, change taken place. [applause] Bernie Sanders what looked like inge campaign is now seen as a Campaign Standing up for working americans that is prepared to take on the billionaire class. [applause] Bernie Sanders its not just that all across this country we have drawn some of the largest turnouts at our rallies, is not just that we have over 400,000 people in this country who have made individual tributions to our campaign [applause] Bernie Sanders let me say a word about that. You are looking at a candidate who does not represent the agenda of Corporate America. [applause] who does nots represent the agenda of the billionaire class. I stand before you today to say loudly and proudly, i dont want their money, i dont want a super pac, we will do it on our own. [applause] Bernie Sanders i understand that when you have a super pac, you can walk into a room of millionaires and billionaires and come out with a heck of a lot of money. I get it. But we are going to do it a different way. We will raise our funds from working people averaging 31. 20 a piece and im proud of that. [applause] Bernie Sanders let me begin by uniong you about an old song. Some of you are member it. Just remember it. Which side are you on . Im not going to sing it for you. I cannot sing. [laughter] up in sanders but i grew a workingclass home in brooklyn, new york. Roomved in a 3. 5 rentcontrolled apartment. My family never had money. But i knew from a very early age which side i am on. [applause] i am a prouds progressive. [applause] i am proud to stand with the working families of our country. Prepared to take on the powerful special interests which wield incredible power over our economy and our political life. That is what i did yesterday, that is what i did 25 years ago, that is what i will do tomorrow. [applause] Bernie Sanders and that is what i will do if elected president of the United States. [applause] Bernie Sanders let me also take a moment to tell you something that no other candidate for president will tell you or perhaps ever has told the American People. It is a simple truth, but not widely reported. , no president , not Bernie Sanders, not anybody else , can bring about the enormous changes we need to rebuild our , to dong middleclass all the things we have to do for the elderly, for the children, the sick and the poor. We cannot do it. No president can do it alone. Unless we have a Political Revolution [applause] Bernie Sanders unless tens of millions of americans are prepared to stand up to get actively involved in the political process and make it very, very clear that this great country and our government belong to all of us and not just a handful of of billionaires and campaign contributors. [applause] Bernie Sanders i am here today, not just to ask for your help in winning here in New Hampshire, in winning across the country. If we are going to transform america, we need millions of people to stand together to take on Corporate America, to take on wall street, to take on the big money interests. Thats what this campaign is about. [applause] Bernie Sanders let me tell you Something Else. Some of you may agree with me and some of you may not. In my view, the republicans did not win the last midterm elections. We lost those elections. [applause] the americans people did not vote for a party that wants to give huge tax breaks to millionaires and billionaires and cut Social Security, medicare, medicaid, which does not even recognize the reality of Climate Change. That is not what the American People voted for. What happened is we had a voter turnout that was worse than abysmal. Millions of americans looked out and said, you know what, not for me. Im not going to vote, im not going to participate in the political process. Electionhat last because voter turnout was low and because all across this country, people are giving up on american democracy. So, let me be very clear. In my view, we will not retain the white house, we will not regain control of the senate, we orl not gain the u. S. House be successful in dozens of governors races across america unless we are the party which generates excitement and momentum and enthusiasm and which reduces a huge this produces a huge voter turnout. And which produces a huge voter turnout. [applause] Bernie Sanders democrats win when the voter turnout is high. Republicans win win the voter turnout is low. Our job is to make that voter turnout skyhigh. [applause] how do we do it . How do we generate the excitement on the ground . How do we get those disillusioned back into the political process . How do we get young people involved . How do we get workingclass votingcans to stop against their own best interests . [applause] Bernie Sanders and with all due respect, that will not happen with politics as usual. Will notold same old likely be successful. [applause] the people of our country understand that we are much better off today than leftre when president bush office and we were losing 800,000 jobs a month and the worlds Financial System was on the verge of collapse. Of course, we are much better off today. [applause] Bernie Sanders they also understand Something Else. Yes, we are better off than where we were under bush. But they also understand that for the last 40 years, under democratic and republican president s, the great middle class in this country, once the envy of the world, has been disappearing. All over New Hampshire, all over my state of vermont, all over america, despite an explosion of technology and worker productivity, youve got millions of people working longer hours with lower wages. You have people in my state in your state not working one job, working two jobs, working three jobs, just trying to cobble together an income that will sustain their families. , we have almost more People Living in poverty than at any time in american history. What the American People understand and what we cannot run away from and what we have to have the courage to address is that while the middle class continues to disappear and while people work harder hours for low wages come almost all the new income and wealth being generated is going to the top 1 and that has got to end [applause] Bernie Sanders very few people in america, no matter what their political views are, believe it is morally acceptable or economically sustainable when 1 10 of 1 of the american than theve more wealth bottom 90 . Think that it is acceptable when you have people all over this country working so along and crazy hours, parents who cannot stay home 58 of allkids, yet new income is generated today going to the top 1 . That is not the economy we need. [applause] Bernie Sanders we need an economy that works for the working people of this country and not just the billionaire class. [cheering] need asanders we Political Movement which is prepared to stand up to the most powerful people in this country integrated government i know this is a radical idea, but imagine having a government that is not controlled by Large Campaign donors and Corporate America, but represents all of us. [cheering] Bernie Sanders we need a Political Movement in this country which takes on the economic and political establishment, not one which is part of it. We need a movement which tells Corporate America and the wealthiest people in this country that yes, they will start paying their fair share of taxes. [cheering] thate sanders multinational corporations are not going to continue stashing billions of dollars of profits in the cayman islands, bermuda, and other tax havens while children in america go hungry. It aint going to happen anymore. [cheering] no, the ceos of large corporations are not going to continue to receive huge compensation packages and incredible pensions while at the same time they cut the wages and health care and pensions of their workers. Not going to continue to happen. [applause] no, we are not going to continue to have disastrous trade policies like or primitive trade relations with china. Shutting down plants all over this country, moving to lowwage countries, bringing their products back. We need trade policies which create jobs in america, not just in china. [cheering] way, thatders by the means that together we are going to defeat this disastrous transpacific partnership. [cheering] Bernie Sanders we need a Political Movement which tells wall street that when a bank is it is too big to exist. [applause] Bernie Sanders i understand the power of wall street. I really do. I have stood up to them for a very long time. Not,hether they like it or we will reinstate glasssteagall and we will create a financial is to createjob it affordable loans to small and mediumsized businesses so we can create jobs in america, not a Financial System as it currently exists which is an island unto itself only concerned about their profits. We are going to break up the major Financial Institutions on wall street. [cheering] Bernie Sanders when we talk about the economy all of you know that throughout this country there are millions of americans who are working for wages which are just too damn low. [applause] Bernie Sanders in my view the federal minimum wage of 7. 25 an hour is a starvation wage. Weve got to raise the minimum wage to a living wage. 15 an hour over the next few years. [cheering] i hope thatrs every man in this room will stand with the women and fight for pay equity for women workers. [cheering] Bernie Sanders there is no rational economic reason why women are earning . 78 on the dollar compared to men and women have pay equity for women workers, when we raise the minimum wage to a living wage, millions of mothers will then be able to raise their kids with security and dignity and they deserve that. [cheering] Bernie Sanders i know here in New Hampshire you see a lot of politicians dropping through your state. You are suddenly a very popular destination. And you have heard many republicans talk about family values. Ever hear that . They just love families. But you know and i know what they mean by family values. What they mean is that the women of america should not have the right to control their own bodies. I disagree. [cheering] Bernie Sanders what they mean by family values is that our gay brothers and sisters should not have the right to marry. I disagree. [cheering] Bernie Sanders i have four kids, seven beautiful grandchildren, and jane and i have been married for 27 years. We believe in family values that are valleys are little bit different the republican family values. We believe that the United States has got to end the International Embarrassment of being the only major country on noth, the only one, that is guarantee paid family and medical leave. [cheering] Bernie Sanders it is not a family value to tell a workingclass woman who has a baby that she has to be separated from that baby in a week or two weeks after birth because she has to run back to a job in order to earn income to sustain that family. That is not a family value. That is the opposite of what a family value is. [cheering] and that is why i will fight for 12 weeks paid family and medical leave. [cheering] Bernie Sanders brothers and sisters, here is the truth about unemployment. Real unemployment is not 5. 1 . That is official unemployment. Counting those people who have given up looking for work and our parking working parttime, it is over 10 . Let me tell you something of huge consequence which few people talk about and that is the tragedy of youth unemployment. Here are the facts. Real youth unemployment, if youre a white kid, high school graduate, 33 . Hispanic, 36 . Africanamerican, 51 . [boos] Bernie Sanders we need a major jobs program to put our people back to work. [cheering] Bernie Sanders the fastest way to do it is to rebuild our crumbling infrastructure, our roads, our bridges, how railroads, our airports, our water system. And let me tell you Something Else that i feel passionately about. The United States of America Today has more people in jail than any other country on earth. [boos] Bernie Sanders it makes a lot more sense to me for us to be investing in jobs and education for our young people than jails and incarceration. [cheering] Bernie Sanders i want us to end this distinction of having more people in jail and i want to replace it with the distinction of us having the best educated population on earth. [cheering] Bernie Sanders and when we talk about politics let me say this and i think most of you know it. Financehe Campaign System we operate under is corrupt and it is undermining american democracy. [cheering] corrupt is the right word. Can spendoch brothers 900 million on this election le, more money than ive either the Democratic Party or the republican party, we are not talking about democracy. We are talking about oligarchy and together we are going to overturn citizens united. [cheering] Bernie Sanders i am likely the most progressive member of the United States senate and i am proud of that. It goes without saying that i have very large areas of disagreement with my republican colleagues. That is obvious. But there is one area he goes beyond a disagreement and he goes to an embarrassment. Some of you may have seen it just the other day at the Republican Debate. Community isc virtually unanimous. No longer and debate. Climate change is real. It is caused by human activity. It is already causing devastating problems in america and around the world. [applause] our republican colleagues are prepared to reject science. That is a dangerous situation for the most powerful country on earth. I will tell you Something Else. It is not that these guys are dumb, its that they get their money from the fossil fuel industry. [applause] moree sanders they are worried about their Campaign Donations than their kids and their grandchildren. That is a shame. [cheering] we must leave the world in transforming our Energy System. Working with china, russia, india. And we can do it. For the sake of our kids that is exactly what we have to do. [applause] when we talks about american needs, there is something beyond comprehension for me. I dont understand this. I dont understand how and in incredibly global economy, hundreds of thousands of bright, qualified young people are unable to get into college only for one reason. That is their familys lack the money. That is crazy and counterproductive to the future of america. That is why i have introduced legislation and will fight for as president to make every Public College and university in this country tuitionfree. [cheering] Bernie Sanders it is not a radical idea. It is common economic sense to say that when young people need more education they should be able to get the education regardless of the income of their family. [cheering] that legislation also deals with the travesty that millions of americans are experiencing today and outrageously high student debt and outrageously high Interest Rates. [applause] Bernie Sanders a lower Interest Rate on student debt and to provide free tuition at Public Colleges and universities is an expensive proposition. I will tell you how we will pay for it. We will pay for it based on a tax on wall street speculation. [cheering] Bernie Sanders the middle class of this country bailed out wall street. Now it is time for wall street to help the middle class of this country. [cheering] [applause] when we talks about bringing our country together, its not just the need for major criminal Justice Reform. I do not want to see kidslives destroyed because of mandatory minimum sentencing. [cheering] Bernie Sanders i think it is time we took a hard look at the socalled war on drugs and the lives that in lost as a result of it. [cheering] Bernie Sanders i think it is high time we make sure that when a Police Officer breaks a law like any other public official, that officer will be held accountable. [cheering] Bernie Sanders when we talk about creating the kind of nation we want to become we cannot forget that there are 11 Million People in this country who are undocumented. In my view we need comprehensive Immigration Reform and a path towards citizenship. [cheering] Bernie Sanders you are looking at a senator and a former commerce meant congressman who do not believe what george w. Bush or dick cheney and don iraqeld were saying about and who voted against the war in iraq. [cheering] Bernie Sanders i heard the evidence. I heard what they had to say. I did not believe it. Go to youtube or my readte, go somewhere, and what i said back then, and i am not happy. It does not agree happy to say this. Much of what i feared would happen in terms of the destabilization of that region did happen. So what we have got to understand, and i speak to you as the foreman chairman former chairman of the veterans committee, someone who will make sure our veterans get the health care and the benefits they need. [cheering] Bernie Sanders i am also someone who has spoken to hundreds of veterans and learn something about the cost of war. The terrible cost of four. War. Hundred e 60s 6700 rate would brave men and women who came about the 500,000 men and women who came home with posttraumatic stress disorder and dramatic brain injury. Traumatic brain injury. And the tens of thousands of families who a been disrupted in a way they may never recover from. And the children who have been hurt. And the divorces and the suicides. Anybody who does not understand the cost of war should not be in the United States congress. [cheering] Bernie Sanders that is why it astonishes me, and it really hurts to hear many of my republican colleagues talk so easily and loosely about getting into another war in iran. And secretary kerry have worked long and hard for one simple goal and that is to prevent iran from getting a Nuclear Weapon and that is something we must do. But what they have put together is a process and an agreement which allows us to accomplish that goal without going to war. And i hope we all support that. [cheering] conclude, ders let me and i have probably gone on too long and i will get yelled at by somebody [cheering] Bernie Sanders let me conclude by begging you to do one thing. And that is think big, not small. Do not get into the argument of whether we should cut education by 2 or 4 . Do not get into the debate about whether Climate Change is real or it is not real. What i want you to think about is what we in the wealthiest country in the history of the world can accomplish. Please do not tell me that in the United States of america we cannot join the rest of the industrialized world and cap guarantee health care to all people as a right. [cheering] Bernie Sanders which is why i support by medicare for all singlepayer system. [cheering] Bernie Sanders do not tell me that will be have a massive level of income and wealth inequality that the United States should continue to have the highest rate of childhood poverty of any other country on earth. Please dont tell me that. [cheering] [applause] Bernie Sanders please dont tell me that when mom and dad go to work that they should not be able to find high quality and affordable childcare. [cheering] Bernie Sanders and please dont tell me that the United States cannot lead the world in transforming our Energy System in combating Climate Change. We can do that. [applause] brothers ands nation, we can create a in which every man, woman, and child regardless of the color of their skin, regardless of the country they came from, regardless of whether they are gay or straight, man or woman, we can create a nation which fulfills the birthright of all americans and that is a society of dignity, of security, and ending all forms of discrimination. Thank you all very much. [cheering] [captioning performed by the national captioning institute, which is responsible for its caption content and accuracy. Visit ncicap. Org] [captions Copyright National cable satellite corp. 2015] please welcome governor Lincoln Chafee. Lincoln chafee thank you. New england is rock. Speaking of new england and new thursday it was my moms 89th birthday. She was born in dublin, New Hampshire. Her family is from dublin. Back then you were born in the house you are raised in. She was born at that house in dublin. It is good to be here in New Hampshire. Ive been here maybe 25 times in the last few weeks. Its great to have the first in the primary status here. You take that responsibility very, very seriously. Will, do, and i know you look at three things as you decide you will support for president. First of all the record of the person running. Second the character of the person running. And third, what is the vision of the future . For me, im the only one running, republican or democrat, that is been a mayor, a governor , and a United States senator. [cheering] Lincoln Chafee that is good background to run for president of the United States. Snow,or i plowed the educated the children, and cap property taxes down or i would not have been reelected three times. I served four terms as mayor and two as a councilman. That is a hard job. You cant miss a snowstorm. Then i went to the United States senate and i was in the middle of many controversial bushcheney initiatives in my time in the senate. First, the tax cuts which i voted against. They favored the wealthy who were doing just fine. Then it was the war in iraq. As senator sanders articulately pointed out, you do not enter into war lightly and i voted against that. [applause] then all thee environmental issues. Regulating carbon dioxide, not drilling in the arctic refuge. Libertiesp for civil time and time again. Live free or die. [cheering] Lincoln Chafee standing up for abortion rights, and that is one of the reasons i voted against sam in the Supreme Court. I did not think you get the exception for the health of the mother and i was right. 14 theye of the gang of got together to try to bridge the partisan divide. I was proud to be part of that Group Getting together, meeting, ink trying to bridge the gridlock and trying to bridge the gridlock we suffer from today. On a rights record gay rights. Proud of that. [applause] Lincoln Chafee way back in 2005 there was a bill for a pathway to citizenship for our 11 million undocumented americans and their only nine cosponsors. Their only nine that stepped up and i was one of the nine in favor of the path to citizenship. We should have passed it back then. There are many tough votes under political pressure and i am proud that i always made the right choice. Governoras on to being and those were tough times. I was elected in 2010. Rhode islanders were out of work. Foreclosures on the houses. It was tough times but we turned the state around. We turned rhode island around and we had the biggest drop in unemployment of all that nevada in my four years. Timeln chafee at the same we did good things. We are the best rollout of the Affordable Care act. That was not easy. Getting people to sign up for the exchange. All the problems that happened across the country. They did not happen in rhode island. We passed Marriage Equality. They tried before time and time again in rhode island. I put it in my inaugural address and we made it happen. The dream act so that undocumented students could go to our instate colleges for instate tuition. [c
