Internally theres no indication that is going to happen any time soon and it seems right now that people are just trying to go about the daily business despite whats going on outside the department of justice with all the Political Drama thats now going on there. How significant would it be, if in fact, Julian Assange, the wikileaks founder as his lawyer is claiming if he were offered a president ial pardon by a trump ally in exchange for him coming out and insisting that russia had nothing to do with the hacking of the dnc . If that ever happened it would be probably one of the craziest things that the president could do to offer Julian Assange any kind of pardon would probably upset every intelligence agency, the fbi, people at the department of justice, people in the military, people in the cia. Every intelligence person would probably be very concerned and be a complete uproar. Its very significant that someone, a former congressman now felt he had enough credibility, certainly with the president , that he could go in, meet with Julian Assange and say, you know what, if you do the right thing here, i could ask the president to give you a pardon. That itself is pretty incredible that someone like this, who we see who has some connections to the president , felt enough credibility he doucould go in a do Something Like this is significant. Grenell was confirmed by the senate as his role to germany. Is it your understanding the president can use the federal vacancies reform act to bypass you and another Senate Confirmation process . He can bypass us for a while but not perm e peanenpermanentl. This vacancy is one of many at the very top of both the Defense Department and other departments of government. In the Defense Department, for example, one quarter of all the top Senate Confirmed positions, 25 , 16 out of the 59 are now vacant filled by acting people. He might be able to survivor under oath saying he considered it but he auditions for this job. He really likes the job and hes staying there until the last act of this play. What do you think . I think its pretty disingenuous to use the president s tweets as the reason for his current unease because the tweets a cases, the tweets about judge, the president is running commentary about criminal cases and about the Justice Department has been in place from before attorney general bar became the attorney general and throughout his entire tenure as attorney general. I find that part disingenous. I think he feels pressure from within the Justice Department a provide some public messaging that he is distancing himself from the president. It doesnt change the conduct of the president or it doesnt change the conduct of all of the things that attorney general barr has done that have contributed to the appearance that the department is acting politically. Last week the attorney general said the president was making his job impossible by the statements and tweets. Since then the president has continued with the statements and these tweets and the attorney general is still there. When you say its impossible for me to do my job and it continues to happen, the only principled thing to do is resign or make a show of force. Donald trump is asserting his alpha male status by saying im the chief Law Enforcement officer. I beg to differ. The attorney general is the chief Law Enforcement officer. Yes the president can nominate and remove him. The president has shown i do not intend to give you the independence and room to run the department. Bill barr has a big decision to make.
