That the House Speaker suggested President Trumps pledge that he will not work with democrats until they end their investigations into him. Was a temper tablet rum and urged the president staff and family to stage a quote intervention for the good of the country. Cnn abby phillip reports, members of the trump Team Including the president are responding with some harsh words of their own. Oh, yes. There is no question. The white house is just crying out for impeachment House Speaker nancy pelosi locked in a war of words with President Trump for a second day in a row. Trump tweeting that democrats are getting nothing done in congress. All of the effort is about a redo of the Mueller Report which didnt turn out the way they wanted. This coming one day after the president abruptly called off talks with democrats over infrastructure. After pelosi accused him of being engaged in a coverup. And i just saw that nancy pelosi just before our meeting made a statement that we believe that the president of the United States is engaged in a coverup. I dont do coverups. But pelosi isnt backing down. Privately the House Speaker telling her fellow democrats that trump wants to be impeached and his actions are villianous to the constitution of the United States. And publicly ratcheting up the rhetoric. And this time another temper tantrum again. I pray for the president of the United States. I wish that his family or his administration or his staff would have an intervention for the good of the country. Reporter white house aides claiming democrats are too focused on impeachment to legislate. Nancy pelosis problem is shes lost control of her party. Shes got the far left wing telling her who to do and maybe moderates that want to get something done. Abby phillip. Lets chat about with the experts and trump suggesting that nancy pelosi isnt smart enough to understand legislation saying that she doesnt get it. She doesnt understand this bill that is supposed to replace nafta. I mean, she did Say Something personal about him earlier in the day. Accusing him of a temper tantrum saying his family and staff need to stage an intervention. It is just getting really personal. Yeah, this isnt about trade or the usmca. She really offended him this way and she has a way more so than any other politicians i could think of at the moment of getting under his skin. Unlike other politicians that have come up against him, she doesnt have the nickname. This could be the tipping point, right . He does seem to sprekt hrespecta way. Its about impeachment. Why does trump want to have this fight now . He is trying to go there. Pelosi is trying to ramp it back. That makes sense for pelosi. There are still outstanding referrals going through the course. The Southern District unveiled an indictment against someone that tried to bribe their way into a Trump Administration job. There is more than a dozen of those still hanging out. So why wouldnt they wait to let this work through the course and say okay, at that point were going to review that material. Well have a big impeachment pile. I think part of this issue to me is everyone around that table yesterday before he storm out calmly, as he put it, they all have taken an oath of office. And so even if youre under investigation for wrongdoing which is clear, even if there are things you dont like about what is happening in congress, you have an obligation as a grownup to cooperate, to move things down the field. You have an election that youre going to have to run in short order. You have hired campaign staff. Get more marks on the board. You have infrastructure. It is a super bipartisan opportunity because people want to stay safe on the highways. This is the only time republicans and democrats cant come together to spend 2 billion. Its incredible. It is. Nancy pelosi has rising noise among her caucus to pursue impeachment. Three dozen of her members, yeah. Thats right. I think shes trying to sort of slow that down by goating the president into something. And really its a political statement and bate of a political stunt on her part to sort of do that. Its something that isnt actually that substantive to get into a tiff with the president. It does show her caucus at this exact moment. But she is fighting him. She needs to get everyone out of town. Right. We have the sound. This is President Trump attacking nancy pelosi a few minutes ago and when he refers to the u. S. Sense, he said that is basically the new trade deal to replace nafta. Its a big part of the President Trumps agenda. Really wants it to pass and he needs Speaker Pelosi to shepherd it through the house. Take a listen. They really, you know, shes a mess lets face it. She doesnt understand it. They feel she is disintegrating. They want to have her understand it before it is finished. Mexico is approved the deal. Canada approved the deal and theyre waiting to get a signal for her. Now i would say this the farmers should Start Talking to the democrats in the house. The senate is ready to approve it. But the democrats are not. Pelosi does not understand the bill. She doesnt understand it. Even now, just to put not to put too fine pint on oint on it needs nancy pelosi here. I think she asked for two weeks to review that bill. That is not that unusual in washington, d. C. Major trade bill. But it needs to go through the house. They need democrats to pass it. This doesnt seem strategically all that wise. He doesnt play the long game very well. Insulting her intel sequence, maybe it makes him feel better in the short term. In the long term, yeah, he still has to deal with these people. And there is not consensus with republicans on the bill yet. Hes trying to make himself hook like the victim. He already yesterday took ownership in the same way did he for the government shutdown. Took ownership for the gridlock. Im not going to do anything with them. Most adults realize that the house does investigations of the president especially if theyre a Different Party and thats how its been forever. For better or for worse. Again that, doesnt seem strategically all that wise. Im not saying that nancy pelosi is blameless. But this is how trump negotiates. He raises the stakes. He goes by bullying and brinksmanship. He said im going to make your life worse. I think that particular thought is very strategically ill advised. He is essentially saying, drop your investigation or i wont give you the money. Lets that to me reads like another charge for obstruction of justice. Put that on the pile because hes saying drop this or i wont work with you. I mean that is a straight up threat. Im surprised the democrats havent made more of it. I want to know what you think about. This after the president walked out of that meeting with democrats, Kellyanne Conway, the counsellor for the president asked Speaker Pelosi if she had a response. Pelosi told her she responds to the president. She doesnt respond to staff. Kel qui ann conway accused Speaker Pelosi of not being pro woman. This is what she said earlier today. But this is major. This is reasonable to understand after he stormed out calmly, why she would want to make sure were at least good to move forward in any type of strategic negotiation for Kellyanne Conway to do this on air, i understand exactly what she is doing. But he is really at his most vicious when he finds a way to contrast the personal experience against republican. I think of the way hes gone after mike pence and gay rights. Here went after trump based on his own military service. I think thats an interesting edge that he has. I think with the personal attacks aside, he ganz that conversation talking about hosting the apprentice and packing my bags to go afghanistan which is a fair point of contrast between someone who signed up for the military and someone who did not and got out of it. Its a generational contrast as well. Right . All those democrats who served in the military are all on the younger side. One thing that is significant about this primary and trying to find a Silver Lining with 9,000 people running on the democratic side is youre getting to see what a serious, credible candidate looks like across the board. I think overall most of the candidates are even measured and have policy experience and are brilliant. I think that is the most important thing in this point. Just look at that contrast. Forget the bone spurs. Look at the fact that he can put a sentence together that makes sense. His tweets dont have typos in them. Hes not regular lly insulting people. I will just say that if you look at the record of president ial candidates, the candidate with the better, more heroic war record usually lost in the last 15 years. Weve been in the wars for so long. I think people our age, maybe that will matter more this time. Im not saying people take it over the edge. My goodness, can we get someone with experience getting our country out of these messes . It is against the uniform code for a Senior Commander to imply or telegraph to a june quor commander who has a responsibility over an investigation that he thinks it ought to come out a certain way. So the president has to be careful about impleaing that he implying that hes going to pardon someone. That is number one. I understand that they talked about if somebody in fact is convicted of a war crime, i agree with general dempsey that, is not something you want to pardon. Were a nation of laws. And one of the laws in the military always follows is the law of arm has been found guilty of violating the law of Armed Conflict and committing a war crime, i think it is a very, very slippery slope if we start pardoning individuals like that.
