Gets hijacked by the interweb. Bill cosby learns that no amount of pudding pops can stand in the way of the internets unforgiving memory. Good afternoon, everyone. Im jake tapper. This is the lead. A Major International summit where president obama and his nemesis Vladimir Putin have been seen talking three times. In fact, while the two World Leaders were chatting, a moscow staterun media said the peaceful use of atomic energy. The timing of that announcement fits a familiar pattern of agitation casting more doubts on that november 24th deadline for the still unresolved Nuclear Negotiations between iran and the west. Meanwhile, putin is stirring up attention of a different sort. Cnn White House Correspondent jim acosta is in beijing. Jim . Reporter it wouldnt be a foreign trip for president obama without tense moments with Vladimir Putin. President obama flew all the way to beijing. If china and the United States can work together, the world benefits. Reporter but hes finding just as much action at the apec summit with russia. Obama bumped into putin three times discussing iran, syria and the crisis in ukraine. Putins military moves in ukraine could lead to more sanctions. The sanctions have yet to sufficiently affect russias calculus as it relates to ukraine. Reporter stunning news comes as the u. S. And russia and other world powers are up against a november 24th deadline to reach an agreement to contain Irans Nuclear program. But putin showed in china he still has a knack for overreach and placed a shawl over chinas first lady. The incident caused such an uproar, it was removed from state media. Mr. Obama also offended some chinese sense abilities when he was seen chewing gum, a distraction from the administrations human rights concerns. We care about universal values and thats going to be part of how we judge the status of the relationship. Reporter the heavy hand can be felt everywhere from where social need media is all blocked. Clogging the roads and factories to the countrys capital to almost erie levels. One of the key questions for president obamas legacy in asia is whether you can see beijings approach on human rights or is there still a wall between china and change . With the great wall flooded with tourists daily, theres no shortage of pride. But michael just wants to join facebook. No facebook . Yeah. No facebook. How to say . Reporter in china where communist leaders and capitalism is both revered, president obama is finding trade deals here are on a faster track than freedom. President obama and Vladimir Putin will have a chance to talk later this week when they attend a g20 summit in australia. Jake . Jim acosta, thanks. One of the issues being hotly contested is the battle against isis in syria and iraq. They are unsure if Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi is still alive but the brand of evil continues to circulate on the internet. Theres another propaganda video that has been released. This video flashes more menace. Cnn Senior International correspondent arwa damon is posted near the border. As always, American Military officials have feared antiaircraft weapons falling into isis hands. Now it looks as though they are using them on the battlefield. What more can you tell us . Reporter it seems to be the case, jake, and perhaps just as concerning is this reality that they have gotten their hands on a significant arsenal and vehicles, military vehicles made in and of itself. Now, this video is about 20 minutes in length as is isis status quo very highly produced and quickly put together. A compilation of best of isis fighting videos ranging from them shooting down the iraqi helicopter to a number of other battlefields and successes that theyve had. Pretty dramatic images where you see isis looking for cover as they move forward in the battlefield. A lot of it is heavily focused in kobani along the syrian turkish border. Its also the focus of isis most recent attempt to take over yet another part of syria. The video also continues to try to send messages out targeting westerners who may be tested to join in their jihadi efforts. Again, we have an example of how isis is launching this battle in terms of trying to gain control, not just in syria and iraq but also on multiple platforms, including the media. All right. Arwa damon in turkey, thank you so much. Stay safe. Turning now to our National Lead and a moment of celebration in the fight against ebola along with something of a scare, new york city mayor bill de blasio announced dr. Spencer who contracted ebola while treating patients in new guinea is now ebolafree. Another ebolarelated fear, mushrooms, this side on the other side of the globe and question whether terrorists are trying to weaponize the deadly virus. Two small vials are going to be tested whether the bottles contain ebola. The new Zealand Parliament received suspicious packages containing vials with an unidentified liquid with a note inside claiming each bottle held samples of ebola. Sky news claims the shipment came from a jihadist group. Authorities are investigating. Here to talk about the ongoing fight against ebola, the man in charge of the white houses response to the virus, ebola czar ron klain. Is it ebola . Is there a legitimate worry that a terrorist group could actually weaponize this . I think the odds are high that this turns out to be a hoax but the new zealand officials are taking no chances. As you mentioned, they are having the vials tested. Were always watching to see is terrorist groups will use a chemical or biological agent. Were not aware of any threat that ebola would be used that way and it seems unlikely but were watchful and have an eye on it. The hospital in dallas and, frankly, the cdc, both of them before you came on the job, both seemed to be caught flatfooted initially on the ebola crisis, despite months of warnings and preparation. Wh what happened . What exactly wasnt working . Jake, we tried to learn the lessons from dallas and tried to make sure since then weve increased the standards for health care workers, weve increased the training and preparation and what youre seeing is a result of all of that is what happened in knenew york, brought to the hospital immediately and sent home today. So its a milestone today. It doesnt mean that our work on ebola is not done. It clearly isnt. It doesnt mean that we need to let our guard down. We absolutely cannot. But what weve shown is we can isolate an ebola patient and make sure he doesnt infect other people and we can send him home safely and healthily. Ron, both you and the president have expressed concerns by officials that seem to be based on fear, in your view and the president s fear, and not based on science, such as some of the quarantines. But im sure you understand it was the texas hospital and the president s initial incorrect assurance that in some ways created this mistrust amongst the public, right . I dont know about that, jake. What i do know is we put out our cdc guidelines on monitoring and travel on october 27th. Since then, we have become the national standard. Theres no evidence of this disease being passed and can result in a safe and effective treatment. Ron, youre respected for your management skills but you dont have any health care experience. Im wondering if you hesitated before accepting the job from president obama. Well, i dont know about hesitated. I took the responsibility here very greatly. The president has great advice on Health Care Matters from dr. Tony fauci who has been an adviser for four or five president s. My lead is not to give medical advice. Its to fight ebola here at home and in africa, to bring the agencies together to help develop policy and get things to the president quickly and effectively. Thats something that ive done before and what im doing. Its humbling to be working with the kinds of people like Craig Spencer who are on the front lines, who are fighting this disease, who are taking chances to fight this disease. Those are the people really getting the job done. Those are the people we should celebrate and honor and on veterans day we should also remember our 1900 men and women in uniform in west africa helping to fight the disease. Ron klain, best of luck. A new look at the presidency of george h. W. Bush as seen through the eyes of his son. Today, george w. Bush released his book. Its not the only admiration shown for bush 41. Bush 43 has become an avid painter and this is a portrait of he and his father side by side. Check out the family resemblance. Not bad. Cnns Suzanne Malveaux was there for the book release. Reporter jake, since you and i covered george w. Bush, he remarkably appeared very much the same. Of course, his father looking more frail at 90 years old despite the fact that he recently went skydiving and you bring up a very good point which is that it makes it more special that they appeared together, his father having been a vet of world war ii. It was classic george w. Sitting slouched across from his former chief of staff andy card in front of george h. W. Bush and barbara. He released 41, a portrait of my father with passion and humility. This is a love story. Its not an objective analysis of george bush. I wrote it when i did because i wanted dad to be alive. I used to say in these campaigns that i had my daddys eyes and my mothers mouth and youre learning why i said that. Reporter in his book and speech, bush took on the stereotype that his childhood was all roses and his father played it safe. Catch this. So he is at yale, the gene pool got polluted. Everybody says wall street. And he moves to odessa. We get out there and dad finds us a place to live. Its a duplex on seven street with one of the few indoor bathrooms on the street. Mother used to call me and say, you need to call your dad. And id say why . Because he just read some editorial and hes upset. And so i called him and he said, can you believe what they said about you . I said, dad, dont worry about it, im doing fine. Reporter bush marvelled at the ability of the man who beat him in 1992, the unique friendship that has developed between h. W. And bill clinton, which has turned them into buddies as well. Were the only two baby boomer president s and we both like retail politics. Were both, you know we both can talk a lot. Now were both grandfathers. Reporter but bush doesnt rule out an epic rematch between the bush and clinton family. The idea of bush clinton troubles him which speaks to his great integrity. I said how does this sound bush, obama, bush, obama, clinton . Reporter so jake, he says that its a 50 50 chance whether jeb will jump into the race. He said, if he does, the whole family will be out there campaigning and all in and on board. Jake . Suzanne malveaux, thank you very much. Coming up, what could go wrong . The sound you hear, thats the sugar hill gang featuring big bank hank. We have to sadly report that hank passed away this morning from complications of cancer. He was 57 years old. Now for our pop culture lead, one of the alltime favorite tv dads and a pop icon culture that even his sweaters are considered a thing. Now that serious allegations from a decade ago resurfaced, bill cosbys brand, the loveable, huggable mega star could be facing a major hit. Yesterday, cosby, or his social media handlers, tried to cause a little buzz by turning his pictures into internet means on twitter. Many used the opportunity to call out cosby for a series of Sexual Assault allegations against him. 14 allegations, to be precise. All of which he has denied. Still, the stunts led the captions such as this. That feeling you get from being americas most beloved serial rapist. Certainly not what the cosby had in mind. The allegations first arose in 2004. He was never convicted. The scandal seemed to be behind him but it was brought back into the spotlight in recent weeks when rumors circulated that he was developing a new show with nbc and when a biography of him was released notably did not mention any of the accusations and then jabs were taken at the cosby scandal during a recent standup show and it went viral. Yeah, youre a rapist, so how big of a hit is this to the cosby brand . What might this mean for his possible return to tv. Joining me is robert and marvet, lets start with you. You say that it doesnt say as much about his brand as it does about the nature of social media. Explain. I think that were living in a generation that we are seeing the results of the insatiable ap pit that appetite that is share online. Everyone does everything they can to seek validation online. So pages are fueled and shared on all towards gaining likes. I think that bill cause bow and his social team underestimated that desire to gain that credibility and likability online and they used his brand at the expense. Howard, cosby has not been convicted of anything. What can he do to change perceptions in this court of Public Opinion . Well, its interesting. I feel like hes the guy who took his helmet and put it on the end of his rifle and stuck it in the foxhole to see if the enemy was still there and all of a sudden nuclear rounds were shot at him. Right now all he can do is get back in the foxhole and silence is golden for a while. I think you have to have a really longterm strategy to effect this kind of thing. Number one, at some point hes got to be willing to go on air, on the record and say that these charges are not true, this is nothing i would do, number one. Number two, hes got to be very cautious about where he gets involved right now because the court of Public Opinion, particularly social media, as marvet pointed out, has already convicted him whereas the court of law has never found him guilty related to anything with this. The reality of the situation is, the three of us have a relationship with cosby. Hes been entertaining us for decades. But people in their 30s probably dont have a connection to cosby. You know, they only know him, in some cases, i imagine, from these accusations. I agree. This is a man who has spent most of his life advocating and championing for the preservation of the black family. So someone who has dedicated his entire career to the advancement of not only comedians but the preservation of black families and the advancement of young, black men in particular. I think cosby is unjustly, in my opinion, taking a hit because of the disappointment but at the same time, what people have to realize, hes made be a investment in this community through scholarships, through advocating and through really putting his money where his mouth is. I think he has a right to be disappointed in many ways by certain things he sees taking place in the community. But youre right, the Younger Generation doesnt understand the dna of bills cou cosby. His legacy will be that he had an aspirational family that many of us grew up worshipping in many ways. Marvet, you pointed out that hes taken positions that are couldnt verse yell when contro when it comes to his lectures to the Africanamerican Community and thats what he was saying, that cosby has no right to lecture because, in his view, hes guilty of these accusations. Does hannible have a point by taking these political positions . No, he doesnt have a point. In fact, im disappointed in this comedian. Ive never heard of him before today. However, im quite disappointed because bill cosby pioneered for all comedians. He pioneered particularly for hannible to have a place on the stage and considering he made character assassinations over allegations was quite disappointing. I think we have to look at the facts, as howard stated, he wasnt convicted of anything. And yet the court of opinion is indeed strong and i think we have to look at his life. He has a right to criticize the community that he is largely invested in. Howard, very quickly, ten seconds left, is nbc going to pull the plug, do you think, because of this . I think nbc is going to give it some time and really see how social media responds and i think they are going to see how bill cosby responds. I agree, hes got to be bill cosby. Hes got the power and the platform to do that. He should continue to be himself. Howard, marvet, thank you. Im turning you over right now to wolf blitzer in the situation room. Happening now, new isis video. Hightech and horrific. The terror group shows off its brutality and may be picking up a dangerous new ally. Americans in danger as an al qaeda spinoff may have the u.
