And so whether it is for 2028 or if god forbid something were to happen and there would be an opening for somebody to run, there would be a democratic race, obviously given newsome and remember im talking about theoretically 2028. I could be talking about either one. But newsome, Vice President harris, pete buttigieg, Gretchen Whitmer are all out there as potential. They are. I dont think that they are as aggressive as newsome is. Here is the thing. One of the things with all the Hand Wringing and teeth gnashing, the time has really kind of passed for a full vetting of candidates. Everybody complains about the length of american campaigns but they serve a purpose which is that you learn about people during the course of these campaigns. Look at ron desantis who was like a House Of Fire Last fall and he has run into problems and some have to do with how he has he answered questions. The time for voting is about to begin. And so, you know, even at this juncture if joe biden were to say in a week or two weeks, there is not a lot of time for candidates to introduce themselves to the country. But we both remember then senator obama complaining about how long the campaign was taking. But i dont think that he would have been president without the two years to get vetted and have people say yeah, he was only a State Senator but i trust him to be president. But instead of pledging to do so, mufrk sk basically defendede speech. Of course we all support free speech but there can be steps taken to limit the circulation or how much one sees on social media which is a private organization, twitter or x, nazi or White Supremacist stuff. And were living in a time of heightened hate and antisemitism and one of the reasons are social media posts that tie into that, some of it is politicians that embrace those who are the sources of that. And i think that hiding behind the First Amendment and free speech is not enough. I mean, we have Social Media Platforms that profit off of hate that keep people online because they are outraged. And outside the silo everyone is threatening and menacing. And this is tearing our democracy apart. And so look, im a huge believer in free speech and i think it is really important. I served in congress when putin invaded ukraine and there were some people who were very hawkish then who changed their tune when the polls differed. I think that it is hard to pin down where former President Trump stands on this because he actually gave a speech i believe it was a month or two ago where he talked about potentially cutting off aid or doubling the support giving to ukraine if he does make a deal. So that is a bit of a challenge is trying to nail down where folks stand. And in my mind there is no doubt that ukrainian sovereignty is important for europe more broadly. Uhe continue is a putin is a thug. But a blank check is not necessarily appropriate. I think that there is a direct connection between supporting ukraine and pushing back russia and showing to president xi that he cant just walk into taiwan. How can xi move his forces not in combat in close to 40 years across the strait of taiwan. And i dont know how much that you are watching what is going on with your former House Republican colleagues and th thanking god that you are not there or being envious, but here are some infighting going on. Former congressman gaetz, there is this continuing resolution that is a short term spending bill, offered by Conservative Fire Brand byron done alds from florida. And politico saying that the measure will is a win for the conservative movement. Matt gaetz says the problems with the continuing resolution is that it gets the job done for special counselor jack smith and then of course saying tell the people the truth, Justice Department will operate whether the government is shut down or not. I think at the end of the day, republicans in the house also need to understand that they are onehalf of our legislating body, flight it is goi. Onehalf of onehalf. That is true. No issue trying to run a hard bargain. But the challenge is if there is a pending shutdown and what the political consequences will be from that. And at the same time, you will find a very sympathetic ear with me in terms of frustration how the Biden Administration is governing this country and frankly the need to feel out where is the leverage and where can there be conservative victories fought in this domain. If you are asking me to im more sympathetic with the big three ceos who have made really the focus of their time at the top of these companies at the more recent history a focus on the E Vuchlv Transition but not way thats that strong backing, but entirely dependent on subsidies from the federal government, but doing nothing to ensure that their workers and talking about the uaw, i mean right now i think it is four out of five electric vehicles in this company are made with nonunion labor even those made such as the mustang by ford and otherwise union shops, the vehicle made is n. N mexico. So if im a worker i say where is my future. And broader state of michigan and throughout the automotive supply chain, it is not the folks just putting together the vehicle but the guy making the carburetor or the Transmission Systems and all the things that will be made obsolete. The United Nations is revising the death toll down to nearly 4,000 People Killed while 9,000 remain missing. Cnns Jomana Karadsheh reports on the unimaginable loss of life and widespread devastation. In 90 minutes, a city and its people were left shattered. Here, grief lingers in the air. And faces tell of the horror they survived and lost, they have yet to comprehend. Acum lost his brothers entire family. He sits where his house once stood. Its all he has left of them. I lost my brother and his children. I lost my neighbors. I lost my whole world, he says. He searched for their bodies everywhere, in hospitals, and by the sea. He breaks down as he tries to remember his last call with his brother just two days before the catastrophe struck. He says this is gods will, its a harsh one theyve had to accept. Everyone here has lost family. One after the other, they share their Gut Wrenching stories. Stone faced and numb abdullah recalls how he held his 10yearold son and jumped from one rooftop to the other to escape the nerferocious flood. Abdullah lost his mother and two boys, 25 Family Members in total but hes only buried four. Everyone here is on a mission to find the dead. There arent enough search and rescue teams. Its mostly volunteers digging through the muddied rubble of these homes. They call passersby to join. They believe theres one or more dead bodies underneath the rubble. They say they can smell it. But most of the bodies are not here, official says. Thousands were swept away with their homes and in their cars into the mediterranean. The idyllic sea front a staging area where they deliver the dead. Shes been here since last monday preparing the dead for burial. This is the hardest thing shes ever had to do, she says. Shes recognized the lifeless faces of family, friends and neighbors. Is this derna . It will forever be heartbroken, she says. We lost our finest, people used to come and look tat our flower, our jasmine. A thousand victims have been buried in mass graves, they prepare for more.
