Heres our starting line. Two more women coming forward accusing roy moore of unwanted advances. The Washington Post reports that one was a teenager at the time moore pursued her. He was in his 30s. Moore is firing back at Senate Majority leader mitch mcconnell, telling mcconnell to bring it on. He demands turn over her yearbook to a handwriting analyst to figure out if the writing is in fact, moores. Alisyn mentioned it before. Other names have come up. You havent heard about them from other media sources. You dont just make an accusation and wind up in the media. Vetting has to be done. Corroboration has to be done. Those saying it is just an empty accusation, the media does vetting and proof is always necessary. That takes us to the president of the United States. Where is he on this issue . He is remaining silent. Instead, tweeting on tax reform ahead of a house vote this afternoon. A Top Republican senator says he is not for the senates version because he says that its not doing enough for businesses that drive the economy. President trump also touting america is back and his accomplishments following his 12day trip to asia. His victory lap seems to be overshadowed by an awkward moment with a water bottle. State gop leaders held an emergency meeting last night, and despite the allegations, despite whats being said about roy moore on capitol hill, state leaders are continuing to stand by him. Two additional women speaking out to the Washington Post, accusing Republican Senate candidate roy moore of making unwanted advances toward them when they worked at an alabama mall. She was in school when she heard she got a call. Some thought oh, my goodness, was it my dad . It was roy moore asking her out on a date. Reporter seven women have come forward saying moore sexually assaulted them when they were teenagers and he was in his 30s. He was on the nofly list for a mall which was pretty stung. It gives credibility to the allegations of these women. Reporter as Republican Leadership actively tries to push him out race, he remains defiant saying bring it on. It would be up to him. Hes the head of the party. It probably would be good if he would say something. Reporter despite mounting pressure to speak out, the president remaining sigh su lle should is roy moore resign, mr. President . He has expressed apprehension due to his own past accusers. Mr. Trumps daughter, ivanka, however, speaking out forcefully telling the Associated Press theres a special place in for people who prey on children. And fighting back on multiple fronts listing 12 female character witnesses writing an open later to Shawn Hannity denying the allegations and attempting to discredit one of his accusers, Beverly Young nelson who said moore sexually assaulted her when she was 16 years old. They agreed to turn of the yearbook if the Senate Committee holds a hearing to investigate his actions. We want him to be subpoenaed if he wont appear voluntarily. This is an interesting legal story as well. One, it is being used as miss direction. There will be no investigation. You cant say wait for the allegations to be proven or not. There is not going to be a prosecuti prosecution. Legally, what do you think is cropping up . When prosecutors have multiple potential victims, they look to try to the strongest case first, it creates an at months of belief. It happened opposite here. They claimed there is a forgery of the infamous yearbook involved. Because he supposedly wrote an inscription in her yearbook. The signatures were relevant. Thats why we have this on your screen. He has the d. A. Thing. What do you make of that, by the way . He had a clerk when he was a judge in the divorce part and his initials were d. A. He would put d. A. On the order. Nelson appeared in front of him as a litigant in the divorce case. By the way, did not ask to recuse more, as she would have presumably if she had had this incident with him many years before. And that d. A. Thing turns up on the yearbook so many years before. Couldnt it mean District Attorney . Well, he was deputy District Attorney. He would never use the term d. A. Because he was only assistant District Attorney. Whether this is true or false, this puts a stain on the strength of the victimss cases. If she gets completely discredited, will the public in alabama think, well, the others are just coming forward and theyre phony cases too. Thats how the legal will bleed into a political strategy for moore. He yeah. Lets just focus on the fact that we have a he said, she said, she said, she said, she said, she said situation. Before we go yearbook truther. Yes, we have an obligation to be skeptical. If its a fraud it would have an impact on peoples assessment. But it is is clearly an attempt to distract and deflect and muddy the accusations because theres not going to be a clear resolution. John is, john, lets get lets get one thing straight. Lets get a lot of things straight. I tried cases involving claims of forgery. Im not saying that this is true. Im telling you how it will play out publicly. Im telling you how moores lawyer is going to try to turn this into a truther. Let me inject for one second. So theyre calling on handwriting experts to look at this and a chemical test to see when the ink was put on the page. That is fascinating. I had a case that involved this. If a certain kind of ink is used. Because if you try to backdate your receipts, the irs has a master list of chemicals in certain inks and you can demonstrate this is an ink from 1990, not 1977. So maybe we will have an answer. We are not going to have an answer in advance of this election because there will be no trial. As a result, what we are doing intentionally or not, is it helping muddy the waters around this accusation . We need to be skeptical but we have a preponderance of evidence at this point which seems to contradict. My role here is when you can fill a Small School Bus with women who say you abuse them, the preponderance of evidence is for the victim, clearly. Well, luckily, Shawn Hannity is on the case. He gave judge roy moore 24 hours to come up with something convincing so he could be won over. As one does before they file a criminal complaint. Sew. We have documented the most recent accuser, buehrle melson was a party in a divorce action before me in Etowah County Circuit Court in 1999. No motion was made for me to recuse. In her accusations, nelson did not mention that it was judge assigned to her divorce case in 1999. This is interesting on many levels. He claims he didnt know her. He also forgot. He has a problem with that too. He is going to say, well, i dont remember her because there are hundreds of litigants that come before me. But she would have remembered me because it was her divorce. Theres not going to be a trial. You will only hear discussion about this. This is damage to one case. There are six others. Im doing heavily listening on this because i think it is all very interesting. We have lived through this before. I remember when alisyn was knocking on the doors about the cosby accusers. And the numbers became overwhelming. But they werent always overwhelming. When things happened a long time ago, things are often complicated. I remember all the hand wringing. This one has this and this one. Its all okay. Its about vetting. It is, one, when a woman says something, you should listen. Their voice matters. They shouldnt be discounted out of hand, which happens too often. Heres what i dont get anymore. Vote. Figure it out. Look, every elected leader, especially in that party, should stand up and say what do they think of these accusations and take a moral stand. This whole lets monkey with the system and push the governor. Shes in a weird spot, if male, doesnt believe the accusers. There is more responsibility for william to be present on this issue. But all of these machinations and wanting to pervert the system, no pun income, to get an outcome the republicans like. Hannity had to take a position he didnt want to. I want to hear where youre on this, avlon . Let the people vote. If they dont want him in office, thats thats. And we move forward. Theres the political calculation and then theres the moral quandary that people should feel they are in. All im saying is this, i dont think morality is whats bothering them. That said, the political calculation, clearly some people are being motivated by self interest. I would say mitch mcconnell, when he was, wouldnt abandon roy moore. There is an obligation if you are a leading republican. Paul ryan stepped up. Mcconnell stepped up, to say what you think about this case and about this candidate. And particularly for members of the alabama Republican Party. You know, does sometimes Party Loyalty ask too much. Do you vote the person, not the party. Thats going to be a fascinating test case. Ron johnson, not a fan. Who saw this coming . Ron johnson is trying to speak up for Small Businesses. The middleclass has really been left out. Hes being motivated by a specific provision. And i think this is not a no vote. This is a negotiating assistance. It those folks too often get lost in the shuffle. Small businesses are called pass throughs and you wind up being almost double taxed. One at the business level. They have to pay it as income. Thats been there a long time. They are not just the manufacturing but the job engine of this particular economy. Thats right. So johnson is important if he stays where he is. The word is he got a call from the president. How strong is his resolve. He came here and dominated our board. I remember. Do you think its what john says and this man will move in line with a little finesse. Potentially. I think they would certainly have to give him something in order to do that. And i think thats a fundamental problem with this bill. It creates sort of strong support for corporations. It makes the Corporate Tax cut permanent. And other tax cuts expire or are forwardly modest. And also theyre taking things away from taxpayers that also raise their taxes. But i also think the real people to watch will be the deficit hawks out there. Mccain, collins, corkers, others who are like worried about the impact on the deficit. This is the part of the bill that is not going to change. They are not going to suddenly find, you know, a trillion dollars. Didnt they suddenly find lots of people because of the mandate. Theyre going to find like 300 billion. They will use that to reduce middleclass families. The overall cost will be astronomical. They have absolutely no intention of paying for it. It will be a deficit. If youre a deficit hawk, you should not support this bill. The Republican Party seems to be most concerned about it when a democrat is in the white house. To the extent ron johnson can put the focus on Small Business or help do that. Look, Global Corporations dont need tax relief nearly as much as Small Businesses. They deserve the relief. And you have to take into consideration this idea of trickle down. There are questions about whether this works, whether it leads to sustained growth. The engines of the economy, reinvesting and hiring people. I think there are a lot of senators who will be worried about that. Lets talk about the next topic. But first uhoh. Two hand . You have to do the baby grab. Why did he need two hands to lift the water bottle . Gets a little bit of dry mouth. All right. No reason to get it on yourself. Cap to the size. Now the baby grip. He deserves credit for that. Had he not said anything, it would have been written on the things that he accomplished on this trip. It is is is really significant because 10 years in jail is a serious thing. Being stuck in china is a serious thing. The demand for praise is unusual. The Sexual Assault allegations arent going away. We see several republicans and the rnc withdrawing support for that candidate. Washington post reports two more women have come forward alleging inappropriate behavior by moore. There are women who have come forward but there is vetting going on of their stories before you see them in media outlets. What is your position about the allegations against this candidate . Well, ive accidentally asked for my money back. That was before these allegations came forward. I do believe these women. And i think that roy moore should step aside. Lets talk about that. As an elected leader, moral agency matters. You should have to have a position on this. I hear what you say your position is. What is the right thing to do . Its not your committee. On the senate side, the funding pulling money from him. Its their right to do that. But is it the right thing to do . Is it right to force him to step aside to maybe even manipulate the election process here by pressuring the governor, who is a republican and a woman, who says she will still be for roy moore to move the election dating, move the time to go allow you guys to get somebody else in. Is that the right thing to do, or should the people decide . Well, i think the people should decide. That said, i do believe roy moore should step aside. Its up to him at this point. I dont think anybody can manipulate anybody into doing anything. But i hope they will step aside. To his supporters who say it hasnt been proven yet. He hasnt had his day in court. What do you is say . Well, you know, that is what his supporters were saying, thats for sure. But i still hope he will step aside. But its up to him but i believe the women. What happens if he doesnt step aside. The election happens and he wins. Thats up to the United States senate. Im not going to tell the United States senate what to do in their chamber. Except i am going to tell them to start passing some bills. All right. So youll put that on them. If you were a senator, would you be in favor of moving to he expel him. Im not a senator. Thats really up to them. Im not going to put pressure on them how to run their chamber. The senate gets to do what they want in that regard. I hope they stay focused on tax reform that we need for the american economy. We will pass the bill in the house. It will get the economy moving. It will help people get better jobs. And it will put some money in the pockets of hard working taxpayers. I hope the senate can focus on that and get that done. I want to test that notion. One more step sideways. If he were running for congress and he won, what would your position be there about what should be done . If he was in congress he would be in congress either way, two houses of congress. If he were elected as representative, what would you want done then . I think it would be a problem. And i would probably move to take some action. But, im not going to put pressure on the senate. They need to manage their own affairs in the United States senate. But pressure is what its all about when were dealing with political questions. Lets talk taxes. This is called a middleclass tax cut. Thats what the president keeps selling it as, that its really about them. But the tax savings, the tax benefits are not weighted to favor the middleclass. The top tier, in your version, the Senate Version has different propositions in it at this point. But in the house version, the middleclass doesnt do best. Why not . The middle class does do best because our stuff on the Corporate Tax rate will grow our economy. We should stop arguing how to divide the pie and start growing the pie. Thats what making america competitive is all about. Thats what the business tax cut is all about. It will result in private investment, which will result this more jobs, which will result in better wages. And the middleclass will also get a little cash in their pocket through a tax cut. This bill is about growing the economy. Thats what this bill is about, chris. But isnt it more fair to say might, right . You saw what just happened with those ceos with one of the administration officials. He said, look, were going to give the corporations money back to pay their workers more. Thats not how it works. We have never seen them make the kind of cash they are right now. We dont know they will raise wages and this money will el down to the workers. You dont know that. Chris, i know it because i took an economics class. This is pretty simple. You grow the economy, it will put pressure on wages. It is not we give a tax cut and they pay wages. Scarcity of labor is whats going to scarcity of labor has nothing to do with tax cuts or how much money corporations have in their pockets. It will drive the economy. It will drive Economic Growth and Economic Growth will put pressure on wages, absolutely. No doubt about it. It is a choice. It is not an automatic from giving people like me a tax cut. It is a statement against self interest. The middle class dont get the same cut im getting relative to my percentage of income. If you give wealthy more money, somehow the middle class magically benefits has been proven as untrue as it is true. Thats true if you are talking about individual rates. But what weve done is cut the corporate rate, make america competitive. America has the highest Corporate Tax rate in the industrialized world. Were going to bring jobs back and investment back to this country because america is going to be competitive again. Economic growth is now 3 as a result of what weve done to right size regulation in the first eight months of this year. Do you think all the growth is because of what you have done in the last calendar year . I think it is is what we have done and what we havent done. There is finally not an attack on the American Private sector and people are willing to invest. And i think thats part of it. Would you acknowledge we have never seen americabased corporations holding the kind of cash they are and yet wages have stagnated. Yes. Because the fact that theyre holding cash is why wages are stagnating. We need them to invest it in immediate ex pensing. It will force corporations to employ their cash. And i think theyll do it and grow jobs. And it absolutely will work. This is not a theory. Weve seen this happen before. Weve also seen it not happen. Congressman, thank you for being on new day.
