Connecticut, delaware, maryland, pennsylvania, rhode island, hitting 60 in rhode island, also in delaware. These are some of the biggest margins we have seen to date for donald trump. As for Hillary Clinton, she went four for five. Connecticut, delaware, maryland, and pennsylvania. Pennsylvania being the biggest prize. Bernie sanders did pick up one win. He won the state of rhode island. What does this mean for the delegates . Right now it is about delegate math. On the democratic side, Hillary Clinton won 214. Crucially, Hillary Clinton nets 54 delegates. This is at a time when Bernie Sanders really needed to be closing that gap. As for the republicans right now, donald trump, he picked up 142 delegates. Look how far ahead he is of ted cruz and john kasich. They have just five. This does include some of the pennsylvania unbound delegates who say to cnn they are committed to voting for donald trump. He organized well in that state. Overall on the delegate map, lets take a look at where things stand. For the democrats, lets say, Hillary Clinton, she right now is at 2,168 delegates. Shes very close to where she needs to be to climplg tnch the nomination. If you look at where donald trump is now, all of the sudden hes very close to a thousand. About 250 delegates away from 1,237. Back on the path, perhaps, to getting there before the convention. Mckayla . All right, john. Thanks so much. So donald trump is declaring its over after sweeping all five northeast primaries last night. It is now mathematically impossible for any republican contender but him to clinch the nomination before the convention. Senior White House Correspondent jim acosta is in washington this morning. Good morning. It is getting closer to being over. Good morning, mckayla. On a roll after going five for five last night, donald trump will try to show off his other side with a speech on Foreign Policy later today. Trump towered over his rivals in a primary night. Triumph across the northeast, steering his roller coaster candidacy on a steadier path to the republican nomination. He stayed on the attack, though, against his republican rivals. He also tried to make an obvious pivot to the general Election Campaign with some very harsh comments about Hillary Clinton, saying flat out shes only doing well because shes a woman. Heres more of what he had to say last night. If Hillary Clinton were a man, i dont think shed get 5 of the vote. The only thing shes got going is the womans card. The beautiful thing is women dont like her, okay. But trump still has a few more battles ahead as ted cruz and john kasich are testing out a shaky new alliance to show the gop front runners momentum can be slowed in the next big contest of indiana, with cruz staking the fate of his campaign on winning indiana. Trump advisers are trying to apply maximum pressure on the texas senator. Chris, theyre making the case that if cruz and kasich and their plan fails in indiana, they are basically finished. Chris . Well, theres no question everybody has their eyes on the same state, jim acosta. Indiana is going to be big, but also we have to make sense of what last night means. Thanks to you, jim. Well be back to you in a little b bit. Hillary clintons four wins last night does make her all but certainly the democratic nominee. Bernie sanders still has plans, even with these nearly impossible odds. Lets bring in jeff zeleny live in philadelphia. What is the state of play now . Reporter good morning, chris. This was arguably the biggest Election Night yet in this long ply mare season for Hillary Clinton. Winning big but winning decisively here in battleground pennsylvania. This was a symbolic victory as well. In three months time, she wants to be back here in philadelphia to accept that democratic nomination. Of course, between now and then, that all depends on what senator sanders does, how he conducts himself. Last night at that primary victory rally, Hillary Clinton extended her hand to senator sanders and more importantly to his supporters. I applaud senator sanders and his millions of supporters for challenging us to get unaccountable money out of our politics and giving greater emphasis to closing the gap of inequali inequality. I know together we will get that done. And after she left the stage just a short time after that, donald trump did make his comments about the fact that shes only getting support because shes a woman. The Clinton Campaign pushed back hard against that. They believe if thats something he continues, which he probably will, that will help her to unify the Democratic Party. But were watching senator sanders today in indiana. Hell be there as well. How he conducts himself, if he still goes aggressively after her, or if he keeps it to issues, as he said he would. Thats going to determine how this democratic primary finally winds up. Jeff zeleny, key questions, finger on the pulse. Appreciate it. Lets now discuss with our pa l panepanel when you look at last night, what do you think is the biggest headline for people this morning . I think the biggest headline is cruz and Kasich Alliance really needs to get in gear. I think they knew that they werent going to fare so well yesterday. I dont know if they expected to get blown out as completely as they did. They really underperformed. Really what it makes clear is for anybody whos in this nontrump, antitrump, Never Trump Movement, theyve got to pull their own weight. They got to make a case for themselves or make an aggressive case against donald trump. They didnt do either of those things, and we saw the results. David, last night trump said he considers himself the resummitive nominee now. Lets listen to his case for that last night. I consider myself the presumptive nominee, absolutely. [ cheers and applause ] honestly, senator cruz and governor kasich should really get out of the race. They have no path to victory. We should heal the Republican Party, bring the Republican Party together. Im a unifier. I unify people. Number one, he needs a better microphone. All you really needed to know is this. When he does this, he thinks hes a winner. Exactly. But is he right about that . Hes getting a bit ahead of himself. I think the big headline is the notion of a contested convention, i think, this morning is fading. I think hes certainly within striking distance of doing this on the first ballot. Well, then he is the presumptive nominee. Not quite. Theres still a big if. He needs key victories to get over the top. But hes the only one really in the game. Are you playing on the difference between presuming hell be the nominee and that special term of art, presumptive nominee. Hes the only player in the game who can get there. Hes got a realistic path to get there. There is something about momentum at this stage of the race. We see it at difficult timerent it the race. Hes well over 60 in a couple of these states. As he goes into new jersey down the line, West Virginia, indiana, some of this momentum could really help him. I think the last two lines of what he said in his statement is what is going to mean the most in terms of the next phase. Jackie, he say, im going to bring the party together, im going to unify people. Thats the last thread that ted cruz is holding on to, that he cant do that. Even though hes getting the numbers david just cited, youre only getting 25 turnout in these primaries. When you look at the party overall, you have half the party saying hes not the guy. So is that the weak link . Absolutely. I cant tell you how many republicans ive spoken to just, you know, in personal conversations who at this point are saying, my gosh, i cant vote for donaltrump. He hasnt answered those questions about electability, about whether he can beat Hillary Clinton, and certainly attacking her as a woman, as he did last night, seems like an unlikely path for him. So there are some uncertainties that he hasnt put to bed yet. Itll be interesting to see what happens in indiana where you do have that more constitutional conservative strain that favors ted cruz coming up on may 3rd. The problem is ted cruz is also unpopular. If you look at the never trump numbers last night, the cruz numbers were as bad if not worse than Donald Trumps in terms of would you ever vote for this person. Thats not how ted cruz sees it, obviously. Donald trump may have the momentum, but ted cruz argues that he has the math in his favor. Listen to his rationale. Donald trump is likely to win some states, and the media is going to have heart palpitations this evening. Theyre going to be excited, oh, so very excited, at Donald Trumps victories. And the media is going to say the race is over. I got good news for you tonight. This campaign moves back to more favorable terrain. [ cheers and applause ] is that right . Yeah, north dakota, montana, indiana, where there are serious evangelical voters who take him at his word when he says this is about the soul of the party, this is about being a conservative, this is about the principles that made america great, not just a slogan. So he can still turn it around, in terms of stopping trump . Well, hes got favorable terrain. Whether or not he plays well on that favorable terrain look, hes short on money. When they announced this deal, they said, we have to husband our resources. We have to be more careful about what we do with the money we do have. Unlike donald trump, they cant just write a check day after day to keep this thing going. Cruz went 0for the northeast. So did kasich, except for winning the four republican votes in manhattan. The difficulty for cruz is hes got to show what he showed in wisconsin, that he can win outside of his core support. In indiana, there are social conservatives there. Thats the challenge for trump. But hes up there right now. Governor pence is going to be interesting. Mike pence is the governor there. Will he endorse or will he stay on the sidelines . If he stays on the sidelines, good for trump. Cruz has a plusminus here, jackie, going into this next phase. The minus is hes been all over the place in terms of making his case. Im going to win, no convention, now we need a convention, now were back on better terrain. Hes been hopping around a little bit. But thats just politics. The plus for him is where he was giving that speech last night, indiana. Jackie, whats the chance that whether its the alliance or just cruzs appeal or pence, as david is suggesting, that indiana goes cruzs way . Indiana is definitely more favorable terrain, but to davids point, yeah, its favorable but we dont know if trump can surmount that. Theres also a populous strain in indiana, which donald trump has been able to tap into. Pennsylvania and maryland should have been great terrain for john kasich, and he was blown out of the water. When you look at indiana, sure, the demographics look very good for ted cruz, but he needs to convince them he can win. Vast swaths of the northeast and florida and all other parts of the country where ted cruz just hasnt really made any inroads. All right. We have a lot to talk about on the democratic side as well. Stand by, if you would. One place donald trump is right is that hes got to start thinking more about this next phase. If he gets to 1237, is what got him to this point the same thing that will get him to where he wants to be . Hes coming on the show to make the case for himself to you in the 6 00 hour. Also, we want to let you know wolf blitzer will anchor cnns live coverage of Donald TrumpsForeign Policy speech. That happens at noon today. Also, not to be outdone, House Speaker paul ryan is going to join us live on new day in the 8 00 hour. Stay for that. Also and, you guys are awesome. Just wanted that to be said. Hillary clintons delegate lead is all but insurmountable. So why does Bernie Sanders refuse to give in . What are they looking to accomplish in the Sanders Campaign . I was given warfarin in the hospital, but wondered, was this the best treatment for me . I spoke to my doctor and she told me about eliquis. Eliquis treats dvt and pe blood clots and reduces the risk of them happening again. Not only does eliquis treat dvt and pe blood clots. But eliquis also had significantly less major bleeding than the standard treatment. Knowing eliquis had both. Turned around my thinking. Dont stop eliquis unless you doctor tells you to. Eliquis can cause serious, and in rare cases, fatal bleeding. Dont take eliquis if you have an artificial heart valve or abnormal bleeding. If you had a spinal injection while on eliquis call your doctor right away if you have tingling, numbness, or muscle weakness. While taking eliquis, you may bruise more easily. And it may take longer than usual for bleeding to stop. Seek immediate medical care for sudden signs of bleeding, like unusual bruising. Eliquis may increase your bleeding risk if you take certain medicines. Tell your doctor about all planned medical or dental procedures. Eliquis treats dvt pe blood clots. Plus had less major bleeding. Both made switching to eliquis right for me. Ask your doctor if its right for you. He gets a ready for you alert the second his room is ready. We will unify our party to win this election. A big night for Hillary Clinton. She won four out of five states. As you can see there, Bernie Sanders won rhode island. I dont know if you have your glasses on, but there you go. So has clinton effectively locked up the nomination . Lets bring back the panel. Jackie, whats the answer . Is the nomination now hers . The math just doesnt work for Bernie Sanders. The question is, is he going to get out . It certainly doesnt look like that at this point. He keeps on saying hes going to go to the convention. Theres nothing hes done in the last 24 hours or so that seems to indicate hes not still planning to do that. I like it. Succinct. Lets listen to that. Bernie sanders talked about what he thinks the path is forward for him. Oh, let me read it for you. A dramatic reading, everyone. In character . Only you can do the Bernie Sanders voice so well. I congratulate secretary clinton on her victories tonight and look forward to the next 14 contests to come. Were in this race until the last vote is cast. Thats why this campaign is going to the Democratic National convention in philadelphia with as many votes as possible to fight for a Progressive Party platform. What does that mean . I think it means what it says. I take that to say this is not going to be a fully engaged fight here until the convention. I think sanders understands that clinton basically has this nomination but that hes got an issue platform. Er. Just talking about he has a base of support and excitement in the party. He represents a voice in the Democratic Party that i think he believes fervently must be heard, must be part of the platform. If you look at what she said last night in her remarks, it was as if she had a meeting with Bernie Sanders that said, lets talk about what you really care about. Im going to emphasize these things. Whether it was Campaign Finance reform, College Education, and so on. Shes going to really emphasize it. David axelrod said on our air last night, shes got to find a way to build a bridge to sanders and his supporters to walk over. Thats on her right now. The plus for him in terms of why would you get out now is hes got a tremendous amount of leverage. I dont think hes going to lose that. I think the biggest reason for him to stay in is so did she. She went through the same thing in 2008. The same kind of thrall near the end. I still have millions of dollars. I still have all these people voting for me. She didnt get out. You could argue he has a lot more momentum than she did. He does. He has quite a lot of momentum. Hes leading something of a movement in a way Hillary Clinton wasnt in 2008. There are issues and theyre mobilizing on the ground in ways that will probably go beyond the convention and beyond electoral politics. Hes certainly got the money. Hes got people who want to cast a vote for him. Thats not nothing. California and some other places where hes asked people to believe in him and devote for him, he wants to make sure they get to cast that vote. One other thing you hear from democrats is if he were to get out of the race, her general election begins right there. She will start taking fire from trump and everybody else its already happening. Shes already taking fire from trump. But jackie, right now allison is right, but youre hearing more of them say Bernie Sanders. They use him as an attack against her, which is much better than being attacked under the basis of what she is. Still, i think shes been playing a twofronted game here. Shes been still having to deal with Bernie Sanders but also has been trying for several weeks now to pivot toward the general election. I have to say, the difference between Hillary Clinton kind of wrapping up her campaign in 2008 and what sanders will presumably do is it sounds like hes going to try to get some of his positions into the platform. Hillary clinton didnt really ask for anything when she sort of wrapped up her campaign. Theyre not going to get away with that this time. Sounds like theyre going to want part of their platform to become part of the democratic platform at large. So last night, david, to your point, her tone was definitely different towards sanders. It did seem like, hey, this is a big tent. Were all part of it. She was completely extending an olive branch to his supporters. Listen to how she framed it last night. And i applaud senator sanders and his millions of supporters for challenging us to get unaccountable money out of our politics and giving greater emphasis to closing the gap of inequality, and i know together we will get that done. Too soon . No, i dont think too soon at all. I think its the perfect timing. This is the time. Its over. Shes going to be the nominee. But she needs to find a way to really absorb him and his message and his supporters into her campaign. Shes been saying the past couple days and here she was kind of modeling what she wants him to start saying once he gets out of the race, to say were going to do this together. I think shes laying that foundation with those remarks. And shes got to start being more about ideas. On the republican side, its all about who can win. Right now thats in the enough. Its got to be how and why. Shes making that shift. Panel, dont go anywhere. Were going need you throughout the morning. Thanks so much. Lets get to mckayla. One last thing, guys. Youre still awesome. Hillary clinton and donald trump dominating the northeast primaries. The frontrunners close to clinching their partys nomination. Trump says he has the gop race in the bag. He called himself the presumptive nominee. Hell make the case to you in just a few minutes here on new day as to why his race is over. As for the democrat, Hillary Clinton winning four of five states. She is now 90 of the way to getting the democratic nomination. Still, Bernie Sanders says he is going all the way to the convention. We have the 2016 race covered the only way cnn can. Lets begin with john berman breaking down the results and where the delegate race stands. Hi, john. Good morning, alisyn. A big night if. Look at this. Pennsylvania, rhode island, delaware, all his. Rhode island and delaware, 60 of the vote. By the way, ted cruz finished third in every state except for pennsylvania. The democrats. Hillary clinton won four out of five. Pennsylvania, maryland and delaware. Pennsylvania, a big state, one of the few remaining big states on the calendar. Bernie sanders did pick up rhode island. He managed to win there, but that did not give him much as far as delegates go. Lets look at the delegate map right now on the democratic side. Hillary clinton won 214 last night. Bernie sanders 160. More still being allocated. You can see, Hillary Clinton netted at least 54 more delegates than Bernie Sanders at time Bernie Sanders needs to be closing that gap. The republicans. Donald trump picked up 142. Ted cruz and john kasich, way, way back with 5. This does include some unbound delegates elected in pennsylvania telling cnn they are committed to donald trump. Tweet and message me on cnn if you want a bigger explanation for what that means. In overall delegate count, the republicans, donald trump and Donald Tru Donald trump 250 delegates away. Bernie sanders will have to flip on the democratic side. Showing no signs of flipping, though, at this point. Michaela . Sending a tweet for further clarification. Thank you, john. Donald trump is declaring it is all over after sweeping all five northeast primaries last night. It it is now mathematically impossible for any republican candidate but him to hit the delegate count for the nomination. Reporter donald trump just took a giant leap towards capture, the gop nomination. Clearly on a roll going five for five last night. Just like last week, the mantra let trump be trump was back with a vengeance. I consider myself the presumptive nominee, absolutely. Reporter donald trump declared his bid for the republican nomination a done deal. Its over. As far as im concerned, its over. Reporter urging his rivals to throw in the towel after sweeping all five northeast primaries by margins that can only be described at huge. I think theyre hurting the party because she in no path, zero path to victory. Reporter the gop frontrunner blatantly rejecting calls to tone down his rhetoric and act for president ial. Why would i change . If you have a Football Team and you get to the super bowl, you dont change your plan. So im not changing. Reporter and Hillary Clinton i call her krooscrooked hill. She doesnt have the strength. If Hillary Clinton were a man, i dont think shes get 5 of the vote. The only thing shes got going in the womans card and the beautiful thing is, women dont like her. Reporter trump using the phrase, the woman card this, talking about reaction from Chris Christies wife. The tie kuhn still has a few key battles ahead. The question is, can the state of indiana stop the medias chosen republican candidates . Reporter ted cruz is insisting the race is not over. Ive got good news for you. Tonight, this campaign moves back to more favorable terrain. Reporter cruz also ramped up his attacks dedicating his entire speech to linking trump to clinton. Every one of us is fed up with politicians who betray us. Who make promises and then dont do it. Donald is telling us she lying to us. Reporter now, the forces against trump is not giving up, the Never Trump Movement warning the party trump will cause republicans to lose control of the congress in the fall. Later today trump will try to settle some of those gop nerves and show off his wonky side with a major Foreign Policy speech here in washington. Chris, instead of never trump me they want to think about the neversaytrump. Its starting to look that way here in washington. Clever phrase. Ands reaching out to Bernie Sanders and his supporters, moving Hillary Clinton very close to the finish line. That doesnt mean senator sanders is getting out of this race. Not even close. For insight, cnns jeff zeleny in philadelphia. What is the state of play, jeff . Reporter good morning, chris. You could almost feel the page turning in this long democratic race last night as Hillary Clinton swept on the stage to the theme song eye of the tiger from fittingly rocky here in philadelphia. She has to come back when democrats crown their nominee right here in this city. Thank you, pennsylvania reporter Hillary Clinton winning four big states. Pushing her even closer to becoming the democratic nominee. Extending her hand to Bernie Sanders and his supporters who shell need in the fight ahead. And i applaud senator sanders and his millions of supporters for challenging us to get unaccountable money out of our politics and giving greater emphasis to closing the gap of inequality, and i know together we will get that done. Reporter but sanders pledging to stay in the race and running a issueoriented campaign until the last vote is casts in a statement overnight he says, this campaign is going to the Democratic National convention in philadelphia. With as many delegates as possible to fight for a Progressive Party platform. Whether you support senator sanders or you support me, theres much more that unites us than divides us. Reporter but the Clinton Campaign is already looking forward to the battle with donald trump, or whoever the gop nominee may be. We will unify our party to america where we can all rise n together. An america where we lift each other up instead of tearing each other down. Reporter sanders addressing the crowd in West Virginia before the final results. Taking on a different tone, steering clear of harsh attacks against clinton. Almost every National Poll and every state poll has us defeating trump in that margin for us, its significantly larger than that of secretary clinton. Reporter now, the tone senator sanders takes today when he campaigns in indiana will be the central question for how this race goes forward. One small note. Donald trump tweeted yesterday Bernie Sanders should run as an independent. He said not treated fairly by the Democratic Party. Jane sanders, the senators wife says thats not going to happen. Were not spoilers. Were staying on the democratic side of this race. There you go. Jeff, thanks so much. Lets discuss with our panel, political anchor, errol louis, Jackie Kucinich and host of the David Gregory podcast David Gregory. Nice to have you all with us this morning. Errol, is it in the bag as donald trump says . Not necessarily. The others have to pull their weight. See what happens in indiana and beyond. Hes on a glide path. The only one who can mathematically clinch it before the convention, but that doesnt necessarily mean thats going to happen. Well see what happens and what develops. These super pacs out there in the ether are in ways sort of, i guess, more coherent in some ways than the candidates themselves. Its hard to overestimate or overstate how badly they did with this socalled alliance that fell apart immediately. Talk to people in the super pacs, analytics, money, thinking through, strategic. The campaigns dont have that expertise. If one or the other sort of pulls it together you mean cakasich pulls is together in indiana, then what . Get to 1,237, get to the defense and make a last stand. Think when mitt romney was making a case, trump is danger. Weve got to do something . Where are those voices now. If they think theyll wait for the convention and rush out and take the nomination away, i dont know if thats going to happen. Not only is he a genius litigator, politics is supposed to come down to, my theory of the case. What he had to say in indiana why this race isnt over. Donald trump is likely to win some states, and the media is going to have heart palpitation this evening. Theyre going to be excited, oh, so very excited at Donald Trumps victories, and the medias going to say, the race is over. Ive got good news for you. Tonight this campaign moves back to more favorable terrain. First what matters most, palpitation or youre prosyntax. In texas, may be different. Errol, harvard and yale. This theory of the case that the media is against me, thats why this is happening, and thats why theyll be a change in indiana, what is that code for and was it strong jth . Effective. Bash the media. Conservative state in indiana. Trashing the media is always good saying, look, the media wants these two new york liberals to are the nominees. All good fodder for social conservatives. A weakness for trump, leading in indiana in that state, which is, can he cut into social conservatives in the state . Pence, the conservative for religion laws, whatever they call them, religious freedom laws. He wasnt come out. If he stays on the sidelines, good for trump. If he comes out and endorses cruz good for him. This is the firewall for cruz. Heres the point i think the notion of a contested convention lost some ground last night, because this alliance between cruz and kasich was john kasich said wait until the race goes to the northeast. Nothing happened except for winning about four delegates for john kasich. How you get to a Republican Convention and trump gets denied, hard to imagine. He has a lot of momentum. Alisyn talking about the poll numbers. Everybody state over 60 . They would resent that. Voters would really resent that, if that happens. Plurality frontrunner last night over 50 sometimes 60 . Jackie, talk about donald trump. The tide seems to have turned in the past two weeks. He had those sort of missteps around wisconsin and afterwards, last night came roaring back. What happened . How did he turn it around in these weeks . In part because the forces against him sort of receded a little bit, never trump, kind of, never ceded these five states out of hand. Now saying start again in indiana. The fact he didnt have the ads against him and be honest, new york gave him a lot of momentum. I dont think any of us expected him to crest 16 there. That did a lot for him, i think, going into these five contests. Reaction formation has been a main dynamic in this election. Meaning when things are going well theres a pushback. Things arent goal well, a reprieve. Thats often the cost of having a nonmessage election, errol. Where this is not a battle of ideas within the party, its about who can win almost exclusively. Right. You noticed in donald trump speech last night and ted cruzs as well, very little about Foreign Policy, domestic policy what they want to do, why theyre eager to rescue the nation, ceased to be about any of that, and its a real shame, frankly. You go back to especially 2004, bushs reelection and his adviser karl rove said, if the answer is terrorism, then george bush is the answer. Here, if the question is, is the system rigged against you . Then donald trump is the answer. Hes benefited from the rnc rules and railed against them. The last two weeks that proved particularly effective saying the whole thing is rigged, and im getting screwed in this process. I think that did particularly well for him with his base of supporters maybe even others outside the system who came and gave him these margins. The crazy paradox, it is working for him, jackie. The system is rigged. But back to what chris was talking about. The exit polls suggest that voters will be, Republican Voters will be very upset if someperson, donald trump, gets to within, like, say 100 delegates and then theres something trick they happens at the convention. These rules are already in place. Not like they just came up with it to deny donald trump, but it still feels wrong to voters . Goes to basic fairness. Theyre looking at how many votes hes won, and when you go down to delegates and Start Talking about the process, youre losing. You know . So i think when you go into this convention, youre right. If hes within 100, the rnc is going to have a heck of a case to make they can take this nomination no matter how work ted cruz has done on the work with the delegates. It really is going to come down to basic fairness and theyll have a lot of upset people if they take it a way from trump and hes that close. Polls suggest, who will win if nobody gets to 1,237, they say the primary winner. Right. Whoevers ahead. Wasnt asked, but the presumption, if youre ahead at the end of this process, then youre ahead. The rules are the rule, and thats still true. The rules exist, it doesnt mean they are good, fair, the right rules. The rules everybody is playing by. My point, cruz and kasich dont seem like enough of an alternative right now and it doesnt help they went 0 for 5 trying to mount a stop trump movement. Wisconsin seems like a long time ago. And also math, errol, because trump can say, no, math is on my side, my friend. But on the other side, only turnout of about 25 , 26 at the top range of these primaries. Thats good for primary, but not really a great snapshot of your entire party. He still doesnt poll over 50 within that party in a lot of relevant measurements. What do you say . There are a lot of other things to bring into play. Look at the five states. Which are the republicans carry in a president ial race . Fine to be a big winner in rhode island. I dont know if that state goes republican in the fall. Keep in mind, going to conventions, roll call of the states. The great state of wisconsin cast its votes, proudly. It has the look of an election. The look of people who have come to a decision, huddled in a caucus, announced to the world this is what were going to do. Instead of a hollow drama, this time might be discussion and instead of listing the state bird, whatever it is, they might say we want a party that stand for x, y and z and thats why were supporting cruz, kasich or trump, or whoever it may be. Saying the only reason hillary is getting votes is because these a woman. He is not doing well with women, even losing white women to Hillary Clinton in a prospective matchup. Thats really bad for him. Looking potentially how hobbled he is going into a general election. Panel, stick around. Taking a quick break because we are talking to donald trump right on the other side of this break. New day will be right back. Customer service d. Maam. This isnt a computer. Wait. Youre real . Enjoy the relief. Donald trump, sweeping all five states last night, taking another giant step towards securing the republican nomination for president. Joining us on the phone right now to make the case for why this race is over, donald trump himself. Mr. Trump, can you hear us . Good morning and congratulations, if so. Thank you very much. Good morning. So whats the headline . What did last night mean . One headline is a good headline. I won five states. I conclusively, everybodys saying that. Not me. Im just copying all you guys. We won tremendous victories and larger than even anticipated. I guess we, we also signed a lot in the the one in pennsylvania is a little difficult to figure. We won 17. We had a great, you know, a great victory there in pennsylvania. But we also signed a lot of delegates. Theyre actually signed. We had the whole signing card thing going, and we picked up many of those delegates, most of those delegates, half waiting around until the convention, and others are to come. So i think i heard numbers like 50something, and we have some that are getting ready to sign. So we had a team a very good team out there. So we won it conclusively, won most of the delegates and many are already signed which i dont think you have down on your charts yet. Do you . Well, its hard for us to predict what people are going to do in advance, but we do know that last night, lets say in pennsylvania, you had a good showing among those elected delegates there as well, expressing a preference for you going into the convention. Thats a good sign. On the other side of it, its a good sign where youre campaign is concerned. On the other side of it, ted cruz was in indiana last night. He says you cant do it. You cant get to 1,237, you cant beat Hillary Clinton and you cant bring this party together, at least half of your party still does not want you to be the nominee. Your response . Women, lying ted has been saying this for a long time. He said we couldnt win the five states last week. He said he would win at least two of the states. You know, lying ted is lying ted. Hes one of a kind. He can lie better than any human being ive ever seen, but ultimately hes not successful. Ive actually never seen anything quite like it. We had a great victory and far more than we thought. Far more than your network estimated, and now were up to close to 1,000, and we have a long way to go. I mean, were going to do great in california. We have a big lead in california. I think were going to do really good in indiana, where im going today. And indiana looks really strong, and, you know, i think we get there very easily, according to all of the people that that run all of those brilliant charts. You are among them. Actually, your chart is excellent. Of course it is. Your chart works beautifully, as operated by john king usually. But we seem to get there. We seem to get over the number, and as you know, if we were short 50, theres so many roving delegates around that are going to be looking for a home, you get them pretty easily, i mean. Well, lets talk about indiana, because now that is the big state on everybodys map. That will be the big stand for this socalled alliance between kasich and cruz. What do you make of their efforts to join against you . Do you have the energy to take them on . You sound pretty beat this morning, were ut when you get to indiana, youll be taking on the both of them in a united effort . Yeah. No, im not beat. I did get up a little bit early to do your show. I want to you asked me to do it and im doing it. Thank you. But i was up late last night, i will say that. Were all celebrate you know, we celebrate and then we go back to work, but were doing your show, and thats an honor. So i go to indiana. I have bobby knight tonight thats going to endorse trump. Bobby knight is the most revered coach in the history, i guess, of indiana. Hes great. A great guy. A great coach. People love him. How about mike pence . Have you reached out for the governors endorsement yet . Yes. The governors a great guy. I met with him. He may not endorse. I dont think hell endorse anybody, actually, and he may endorse us. I dont know. Hes a great guy. Hes become you know, hes done a very, very good job as governor and hes a great guy. I dont know if well get his endorsement. I dont know. Do you think hes going to endorse cruz . You dont think hell come out and endorse if its not you . No, i dont think so. So the big speech youre going to give on Foreign Policy. Can you give us an indication what the headline will be . Just a speech on Foreign Policy. Some of my ideas on Foreign Policy, have to do with some of the economics of Foreign Policy because were getting killed on economics. Im an economic person. One of my strengths, maybe a big strength. Ive called a lot of correct economic policy, i dont get credit for it, but a lot of things happening in the world ive called it, called it very good and happening now, and so im giving a speech on economic policy, and it was a few guys that got together. They say youre doing great with the race, but it wouldnt be a bad i did a show on aipac, primarily israel and now economic policy. Always good to mix in i think so. Do you agree with president obama about sending 250 or even more troops into syria to help the effort there . The special operators he announced hes sending in . Do you agree with that move . Well, i could agree with it, but i dont agree with telling it to the world. I would send them in quietly. Right now they have a target on their back. So i would agree with it much more. I dont know what purpose theyre incident for, but i would agree with it. I can live with it, but i dont like doing is sending them in so i mean, with such fanfare. Let them go in, go in quietly. Be unpredictable, but i just from my standpoint, i find it very, very hard every time we do something we announce it for publicity reasons, and i think thats very negative. Thats a bad thing. Lets talk about tone a little bit. Is it true that paul manafort, who you brought on here to help deal with the convention and deal with some of the darker arts of this election process, that he said you need to change your tone . You need to start thinking about how to bring people together in the party . And that apparently youve rejected that advice so far . No, i dont think so. Paul is a big fan of mine. He has made incredible statements about the way i speak saying that it was maybe the best hes ever seen anybody speak. He made some great statements about he went to a couple of rallies yesterday, and the day before. We had a rally in pennsylvania for 25,000 people. He said hes never seen anything like it, and he did cover reagan, ford, bush. He said hes never seen anything like these rallies, and he said, i get it. And, you know, im not going to be changing. Im president ial anyway. I mean, i can change to president ial, but im president ial anyway, i guess. What does it mean when you say change to president jl what do you think president ial is that youre not right now . I mean a lower key version of myself and being sure not to use language that would be offensive, but i dont do that anyway. I feel that i shouldnt be doing that. I was doing that for a period of time for emphasis, but i feel that i shouldnt be doing that. Im not you know, im not doing that. And i used to, you know, make speeches when i was nonpolitical, i used some foul language and it would make things very exciting and people would go crazy, but when youre running for office its a little bit different, as your brother knows. Right . I think trying not to curse is probably the least of reaching that bar, but lets look at why that no. It might be the most of reaching that bar. I hope not. I hope were going to do better than that especially getting into the general, but when you look at why, youre doing very well in the primaries by anybodys math. However, youre only getting 25 , 26 of your party showing up. You have about half the party that hasnt come into the tent with you yet. Youre going into a general election, if you get the nomination, where youre going to have to sway a lot of people who dont like the harshness. So thats why people are saying, can you show another side of yourself . Can you bring people together . Last night talking about Hillary Clinton, whom you call crooked hillary, you said the only thing she has is the woman card. Even Chris Christies wife standing behind you made a face when you said that. Do you think thats a winning formula to say, the woman card is all that Hillary Clinton has . Yes. Its part of it is certainly part. She is a woman. Shes playing the woman card left and right. She didnt play it last time with obama but shes playing it much harder this time, and she will be called on it. Absolutely. How do you call someone on being a woman . You just tell them theyre playing the womans card. What does that mean . Frankly, if she didnt she would be doing poorly. How do you know that . I know it. If she was a man and she was the way she is she would get virtually no votes. I know i hear what youre saying. Trying to figure your basis for it. Most of the measurements of a perspective matchup, not only is clinton beating you with women, beating you with white women. Is this a good message for them to hear . All shes got is a womans when i came out i was competing against 17 very capable people. Right . Youve heard it. Im sure you heard it last night ad nauseam. I was competing against 17 very, very capable people. And a woman. And what happened was, one by one they disappeared, and everyone said, whats going on . Look whats happening. A governor, a senator, a governor, a senator, but one by one they disappeared. And they thought trump was going to be there for a couple of weeks. He was going to have some fun. Then he was going to go to mont car y carlo and have a good time. It worked out i knocked everyone off. For the most part, i knocked them off. They werent knocked off. I knocked them off. They were taken out. I think you would admit that. Same thing happened with hillary. We know each other very well, mr. Trump. Thats why i am not completely surprised by your success to this point. Do you believe, then, what got you here will take you all the way to the white house . I think so. Now, i may tone it down or i may tone it up. I cant tell what you im going to do. I dont know. Depends, you know, i use the word flexibility. You have to be flexible. You listened last night. You do. You have to be flexible. Somebody sells, wiays, will you way or that way . I dont know. I will see when i see how the other people punch back, but hillarys got a lot of flaws, got a lot of problems, and she does have the woman card, thats a big thing, but a lot of women, as you know, dont like hillary, despite the card, and well see what happens. Youre going to cover it better than anybody, and cnns doing a very good job. Well, thats a we take great pride in that estimation. Errol is very biased against me, which is too bad. Earl lewis says that is not true and he is very happy that you got up so early this morning. Errol is totally biased. There are others over there some day im going to watch him Say Something good about trump and ill be so happy. Hes very biased. Keep watching new day, because thats where errol louis when not on his own show. Appreciate it. We look forward to see whats happening Going Forward. Have a good day. A lot to talk about with our panel. Bring in the aforementioned errol louis. Errol louis, black hat louis. Whats your response . I had a very nice sitdown interview. One of the first field interviewed i did. Say something nice about trump. Congratulations. There you go i thought he cleaned their clocks last night and has an open invitation to come on inside city hall on new york one and resume the talk from a few years ago where i visited him at trump tower. There are things about the campaign and i think like anybody else we have an obligation to speak up when we see people beaten at rallies and things like that to not skirt over it because the candidate would not like you to notice it. I notice those thing. It troubles me. Errol is a firstrate analyst straight shooter and i stand up for you any day. Thank you. We do, too. Im sideways on it. A compelling case. Not sure. Yeah. Jackie, lets talk about where chris and donald trump just finished, the woman card. He clearly does not regret or hes not changing his rhetoric about that. He doubled down and said thats all that Hillary Clinton has. How do you think that that will play with female voters . Im just going to throw this out there, that its not going to play well with female voters. He also he said if he thought it was going to tank no. He usually has a basis of suspicion at least. And it usually work. As weve seen, he sayses things that are provocative. Others go, whoa, thats going to hurt him and then it doesnt. Maybe it wont hurt him but were talking about a general election where hes in a 70 hole with women at this point, who view him unfavorably. I dont know he climbs out of it saying Hillary Clinton is just is a woman and if a man no one would vote for her. Also he said, again, language matters. He said he was running against a bunch of very capable people in the primary. And a woman. So were people, too. Just throwing that out there. But it really that tone is going to matter in a general, when you have women who are independents and democrats potentially looking at him as a possible choice. And probably, david, women, you know, and thank god im lucky to be surrounded by them. Raised by them. Not necessarily want to be told, alisyn, youre going to vote for her because shes a woman. Thats it. Its over for you. That can also sound like pandering. Maybe going that way . Hillary clinton wishes all women would vote for her. Shes gotten in trouble, we remember, with madeleine albright, that women are supposed to vote for her. Thats not working as much this time. Shes playing the card instead of making the case . Look, what drives a lot of republicans crazy is that they think that donald trump, and i think it was evidenced, this morning, hes a gut player. This isnt strategic. Hes going on the attack, going to talk about the woman card. Hes got hugely high negatives among women. Thats a huge problem. Even among white women, which mitt romney won by 14 points. White women. Women overall still vote for the democrat. But white women he has a deficit. So if you look at what are Hillary Clintons liabilities . Theres not a tremendous amount of passion behind her, that she will not do well likely with white men and with the workingclass voters. If he doesnt do something to do better among women then hes giving her, hes helping her overcome a huge liability on her side and potentially turning out more of her base. I think thats the real danger that republicans see with talking like that. We also have a very good look at something, and it is early. He did get up, but it does not take long for donald trump to get on his game and he did. We see the basic proposition moving forward for him. Is, what got him here, will that work to get him to the would us . Thats what it is. Hell say hell be reflective and this and that. Thats the question. Errol, even with all of this success that hes had, objectively, thats a big, open question. I dont know if its a big, open question for donald trump. I mean, he said last night, im not changing the code. Im on a winning team. Im not doing anything different. He didnt give us a reason this morning to think hes going in a different direction. The reality is, how does he win state after state and to the extent he can win independents, those are the numbers to sort of look at, crack that open in some of the swing states, see how thats playing,nd that will give you your answer about whether or not it even makes sense for him to pivot and, of course, the related question is, could he, even if he wanted to . Jackie, chris asked about his Foreign Policy speech hell be giving later today. He was vague. He didnt offer any specifics. Is that okay . At some point are voters going to demand more . Donald trump han bes been abo flip the script. As weve talked about. Sure. We might see something similar to the speech he gave aipac, something scripted. Something that maybe doesnt go to the outer fringe of where the Republican Party is. I will say when he released his Foreign Policy advisors a lot of people in washington in that National Security committee that said, who . So it will be very interesting to see where he does take this today. I think its i think hes going to talk a lot about economic pop populism and jobs, donald trump does not have a developed view of the world nap in and of itself is not unusual for a candidate at this stage. He glossed over a deterrent effect to the United States announcing you send in special operators to work where they will. So i think this is this is something hes got to be able to signal to voters hes got more of a sense of the world. Foreign policy is the one area that a president really has control over more than domestic policy. Hes got to be able to calm people down. By the way, in indiana, legacy of senator richard lugar, an electorate used to hearing and discussing Foreign Policy. One of the reasons hes reached out to mike pence, likes pence. Not sure if hell get the endorsement, but doesnt think hell endorse anybody else. Which is good for him. Panel, thank you. Great to get your insights this morning. We are going to cover it. Later, wolf blitzer will cover Donald TrumpsForeign Policy speech at noon. Does he step it up . And paul ryan joins us live in our 8 00 hour. Hillary clinton scoring huge victories griving them closer to a victory. Why were voters in the northeast so decisive . Christine romans joins us now with deciding factors in the exit poll. Hi, guys. Decisive. Both Hillary Clinton and donald trump dominating across issues and democrat graphics. Start with the republican frontrunner who built a coalition of support. He has always done well with voters without a College Degree. The poorly educated he famously called this demographic. In pennsylvania took 66 of the vote. John kasich a distant second. Last night trump overwhelmingly won College Educated voters. Almost half voters with a diploma broke for trump in pennsylvania. Saw the same trend in maryland, trump carried College Graduate voters there. Gop voters saying immigration is the top issue, trump their choice by a wide margin. Same with those who says terrorism and the economy were their top concerns. Also across age lines. In connecticut over 45 years old 6 in 10 broke for trump. Turn to the democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton. In maryland, where more than 6 in 10 voters with a College Degree went for clinton and voters without a College Degree in the state also breaking for clinton, 64 . Bernie sanders far behind there. Hillary clinton also broadening support with white voters. In pennsylvania winning more than half all white voters. Same in maryland played out. One demographic Hillary Clinton is losing to Bernie Sanders, in connecticut the same, less than a third of voters under age 44 broke for clinton. Chris . Hmm. Interesting always to see in the numbers of the results, christine romans, thank you very much. We have much more ahead on the morning after super tuesday. A huge night for Hillary Clinton as well as donald trump. So what does this mean for the man on your screen . Senator Bernie Sanders . Is it time to go . We will unify our party to win this election. Thats Hillary Clinton calms for party unity after beating Bernie Sanders in four out of five super tuesday contests in the northeast. Clinton now that 90 of the delegates needed to clinch the democratic nomination. So is it time for Bernie Sanders to bow out . Joining us, florida congresswoman Debbie Wasserman schultz share of the Democratic National committee. Good morning, congresswoman. Good morning, alisyn. Okay. Great to be here. Great to have you here. Thank you. So you heard there Hillary Clinton was very happy last night. Bernie sanders put out a statement late last night in which he said that hes moving on. He is headed to the convention. He said that hes not bowing out. Are you comfortable with this primary pressing well on through the spring and into the summer . Im comfortable with, that the primary is playing out to its natural conclusion. We have 14 primaries remaining, and the decision to continue or withdraw is fully that of either one of our candidates, and so at the same time that this primary nominating contest continues, were not sitting idly by at the dnc. Were getting ready, preparing for the general election. Weve begun coordinating with our state parties around the country to stand up the infrastructure necessary to run a coordinated campaign effectively, particularly in battleground states, and so were walking and chewing gum at the same time, and this primary will play out to its natural conclusion, and thats been our expectation. The problem with the primary continuing on is that every day Hillary Clinton is battling Bernie Sanders shes not taking on donald trump, and last night donald trump sure seemed like he was turning his attention to the general election and training his sights on Hillary Clinton . So, i mean, debbie what do you think . In other words, is she is this a disadvantage for her if hes attacking hillary and Hillary Clinton is not yet in the general . Well, again, while our primary plays out, we are getting ready to make sure that we can be prepared to launch whichever one of these candidates is eventually our nominee and youve seen both of our candidates talk about the contrast that well see when we do have a nominee, consistently. Theyve made the case that either one of these candidates would be far more effective at carrying on president obamas legacy, building on the progress of economic success that weve had, pulling us out of the worst economic crisis since the great depression, which republican policies espoused by dnt dnonal trump and the entire republican field would bring us back to. Donald trump does something he does every day, keep talking every day, because he does more to alienate the groups republicans acknowledged in 2012 they had to stop alienating and win over to win president ial elections. Thats nave done that, just the opposite. We just had donald trump on our show new day moments ago, and he went right after Hillary Clinton. Let me play for you what he said this morning. Sure. She is a woman. Shes playing the woman card left and right. She did play it last time with obama but is playing it much harder this time, and she will be called on it. If she were a man and she was the way she is, she would get virtually no votes. Your response to that . Oh, just keep talking, donald trump. Keep talking. Every single day when donald trump opens his mouth, he does more to alienate women. The last time i checked, women were the decisive demographic in the outcome of president ial elections in recent and modern times. Donald trump does more to alienate women. Hes completely upsidedown with women and having been a woman my entire life and certainly a woman my entire professional life, i dont know a lot of professional women that think that going in to something that is very competitive, that its generally been a huge advantage to be a woman. So its great that donald trump thinks that playing the woman card is a huge advantage. Hillary clinton or Bernie Sanders are going to win this election because they will build on the success that weve had economically. Theyll focus on adding more people to make sure they have Health Insurance rather than repealing it. Theyll make sure they protect the access to health care for women. Donald trump said women should be punished who choose to have an abortion and make other health care decisions. So the contrast will not be able to be more clear going into a general election no matter which of our wellqualified candidates ultimately are the nominee and on top of that alisyn, consistently in new york, now in pennsylvania and across the primary states yesterday, our vouters coming out to the polls are enthusiastic about voting for either one of our candidates and Republican Voters consistently says coming out of the prime they think their primary damaged thr candidates and less likely their nominee will be president. Debbie wasserman schultz, great to get your perspective on new day. More super tuesday coverage ahead. Breaking down the path ahead for donald trump and Hillary Clinton. So lets get right to it. They have no path. Zero path to victory. Were going to win on the first ballot. We will prevail against candidates on the other side. Were in this to the end. We stand a very good chance to win. The eyes of the nation are looking at the crossroads of america. When i hear the republican frontrunner, im just bewildered. The only thing shes got going in the womans card. The beautiful thing is, women dont like her. Despite what other candidates say, we believe in the greatness of our nation. I call her crooked hillary. Shes crooked. Shell be a horrible president. Captions by vitac www. Vitac. Com good morning, everyone. Welcome to your new day. Donald trump and Hillary Clinton relishing the sweet taste of victory this morning. Frontrunners dominating the primers last night both inching closer to cinching their partys nominations. Trump calms himself the presumptive nominee. Youll hear from him coming up. And the democrats, Hillary Clinton winning four of the five states. 90 on the way to clinching the nomination. Senator sanders, though, refusing to drop out saying hes taking his progressive platform all the way to the convention. So what is the state of play this morning . We have the race covered the way only cnn can. Begin with john berman breaking down the results and delegate race. What matters, my man . A clean sweep for donald trump. Five out of five. Look at this, pennsylvania, maryland, rhode island and delaware, 60 in both rhode island and ted cruz finished in third in every race except pennsylvania. For Hillary Clinton, its a problem for Bernie Sanders. Bernie sanders won rhode island but didnt help in the delegate count. Hillary clinton, 214 delegates. Bernie sanders 160. Hillary clinton netting 54, this coming at a time when Bernie Sanders wanted to chip away. That not happening. Republicans, donald trump 142 delegates. Ted cruz and john kasich way back at 5. This does include some of the pennsylvania unbound delegates. Cnn called them, all of them, and we got commitments to vote for donald trump from a number of them. The overall delegate picture now, donald trump at 998, a lot closer to 1,237. 250 away. Hillary clinton and the democrats, 2,168. Bernie sanders, 1,401 including super delegates. You can see with the super delegates, Hillary Clinton getting very close to the total shell need to clinch that nomination. Michaela . John, the numbers man, berman. Thank you for that. Have some coffee. Thanks for that. Im going to need it. A big day here. Trump, clean sweep, making it a mathematical impossibility for his rivals to overtake him and to the next battleground, indiana. And allin. Jim acosta, hi there. Reporter good morning. Donald trump not at a loss for words last night, took a giant lead. On a roll, going five for five in the primaries. Unlike the diplomatic tone from last night, remember that . All too clear, the mantra, trumpy trump is back with a vengeance. I consider myself the presumptive nominee, absolutely. Reporter donald trump declared his bid for the republican nomination a done deal. Its over. As far as im concerned its over. Reporter urging rivals to throw in the towel after sweeping all five primaries by margins that can only be described as huge. Theyre hurting the party. Again, they have no path, zero path to victory and were going to win on the first ballot. Reporter the gop frontrunner rejecting calls to tone down his read rick and act more president ial. Why would i change . You have a Football Team and youre winning and get to the super bowl, you dont change your quarterback. Right . So im not changing. Reporter and previewed the types of attacks he has in store for Hillary Clinton in a general election. I call her crooked hillary. Shes crooked. She will not be a good president. She doesnt have the strength. If Hillary Clinton were a man, i dont think shed get 5 of the vote. The only thing shes got going is the womans card, and the beautiful thing is, women dont like her. Reporter trumps use of the phrase the woman card provoked this reaction from Chris Christies wife. Despite that confidence on display, the real estate tycoon still has a few key battles ahead. The question is, can the state of indiana stop the medias chosen republican candidates . Reporter ted cruz is insisting the race is not over. Ive got good news for you. Tonight this campaign moves back to more favorable terrain. Reporter cruz also ramped up his attacks, dedicating his entire speech to linking trump to clinton. Every one of us is fed up with politicians who betray us. Who make promises and then dont do it. Donald is telling us he is lying to us. Reporter now, the forces against trump are not giving up. The Never Trump Movement including top gop strategists warning the party trump will cause republicans to lose control of the congress in the fall, but later today trump will try to settle the gop nerves showing off his wonky side with a major Foreign Policy speech here in washington. Alisyn, he doesnt use teleprompters much. Well look to see if he uses one at that speech at the Mayflower Hotel a few hours from now. Chris pressed him on specifics but didnt get a lot of those, so we look forward to that speech. Reporter have to wait and see. Right. Jim, thank you. Hillary clinton savoring four super tuesday victories making her all but certain the democratic nominee. Bernie sanders says he is not going anywhere. Jeff zeleny is live in philadelphia with more. Good morning, jeff. Reporter good morning, alisyn. Hillary clinton is certainly keeping one eye on Bernie Sanders, but the campaign is shifting its focus ever so gently to donald trump. They believe that this field is basically set. You can see this energy sort of shift last night when she swept on to the stage here in philadelphia to the music of eye of the tiger, of course that theme song from rocky. She wants to be back here in three months at the Democratic National convention. Thank you, pennsylvania reporter Hillary Clinton winning four big states. Pushing her even closer to becoming the democratic nominee. Extending her hand to Bernie Sanders and his supporters, who shell need in the fight ahead. And i applaud senator sanders and his millions of supporters for challenging us to get unaccountable money out of our politics, and giving greater emphasis to closing the gap of inequality. And i know together we will get that done. Reporter but sanders pledging to stay in the race and run an issueoriented campaign until the last vote is cast. In a statement overnight he says this campaign is going to the Democratic National convention in philadelphia. With as many delegates as possible to fight for a Progressive Party platform. Whether you support senator sanders or you support me, theres much more that United States us than divides us. Reporter but the Clinton Campaign is already looking forward to the battle with donald trump, or whoever the gop nominee may be. We will unify our party to win this election, and build an america where we can all rise together, an america where we lift each other up instead of tearing each other down. Reporter sanders addressing the crowd in West Virginia before the final results. Taking on a different tone, steering clear of harsh attacks against clinton. Almost every National Poll and every state poll has us defeating trump in that margin for us, its significantly larger than that of secretary clinton. Reporter and senator sanders is going to be campaigning in indiana today, but all eyes are on his tone. What he says, how he addresses his democratic rival. Chris, that is going to determine how much longer this democratic race is going on. Hes going to stand until the end, he says, to run an issueoriented campaign. See if they include still attacking the Clinton Campaign, or if he sticks sort of down the middle in this race shifts like it feels like its on the verge of doing. Chris . No attacks, only contrast, we hear from the Sanders Campaign. They say thats their take Going Forward. Well see what that means. Jeff zeleny, thank you very much. Shifting back to the republican side, and its frontrunner, donald trump. Now, the selfproclaimed presumptive nominee. We spoke with him earlier this morning on new day about what this super tuesday sweep means, and what has to change in his campaign to get to the white house. One headline is a good headline. I mean, i won five states. I won conclusively, everybodys saying that. Its not me. Im just copying all you guys. We won tremendous victories, and larger than even anticipated, i guess. We also signed a lot, and, you know, the one in pennsylvania is a little bit difficult to figure. We won 17. You know, we had a a great, you know, a great victory there in pennsylvania. But we also signed a lot of delegates. Theyre actually signed. We had the whole signing card thing going. And we picked up many of those delegates, most of those delegates so that the other half waiting around to convention, and others are to come. So i think, i heard numbers like 50something, and we have some that are getting ready to sign. So we had a team a very testimony team out there. We won most of the delegates and many are already signed, which i dont think you probably have down on your charts yet. Do you . Well, its hard for us to predict what people are going to do in advance, but we do know that last night, lets say in pennsylvania, you had a good showing among those elected delegates there as well, who were expressing a preference for you going into a convention. A good sign. On the other side of it, its a good sign where your campaign is concerned. On the other side of it, ted cruz is in indiana last night. He says you cant do it. You cant get to 1,237. You cant beat Hillary Clinton. And you cant bring this party together, at least half your party still does not want you to be the nominee. Your response . Well, lying ted is, you know, been saying this for a long time. He said we couldnt win the five states last week. He said he would win at least two of the states. You know, lying ted is lying ted. Hes one of a kind. He can lie better than any human being ive ever seen, but ultimately hes not successful. Ive actually never seen anything quite like it. We is had a great victory and far more than we thought. Far more than your network estimated, and now were up to close to 1,000, and we have a long way to go. I mean, were going to do great in california. We have a big lead in california. I think were going to do really good in indiana, where im going today. And indiana looks really strong, and you know, i think we get there very easily, according to all of the people that that run all of those brilliant charts. You are among them. Actually, your chart is excellent. Of course it is. Your chart works beautifully, as operated by john king usually. But we seem to get there. We seem to get over the number, and as you know, if we were short 50, theres so many roving delegates around that are going toing lo to be looking for a home, you get them priddy easily. Talk about indiana. Now that is the big state on everybodys map nap will be the big stand for this socalled alliance between kasich and cruz. What do you make of their efforts to join against you . Do you have the energy to take them on . You sound pretty beat this morning, but when you get to indiana youll be taking on the both of them in a united effort . Yeah. No, im not beat. I did get up a little bit early to do your show. I want to you asked me to do it and im doing it. Thank you. But i was up late last night. I will say that. We celebrate you know, we celebrate and then we go back to work, but were doing your show, and thats an honor. So i go to indiana. I have bobby knight tonight. Hes going to endorse trump. Bobby knight is the most revered coach in the history, i guess, of indiana. Hes great. A great guy. A great coach. People love him. How about mike pence . You have reached out for the governors endorsement . Yes. The governors a great guy. I met with him. He may not endorse i dont think hell endorse anybody. And he may endorse us. I dont know. Hes a great guy. Hes done a very, very good job at governor and hes a great guy. I dont know if well get his endorsement i dont know. I dont think anybody else will get it. You dont think hell endorse if its not you . No. I dont think so. Foreign policy. Can you give an indication what your headline will be . A speech just on Foreign Policy. Some of my ideas on Foreign Policy. It will have to do with some of the economics of Foreign Policy because were getting killed on economics. You know im an economic person. Its one of my strengths and maybe a big strength. Ive called a lot of correct economic policy. I dont get credit for it, but a lot of things that are happening in the world ive called. Ive called it very good, and happening now. And so im giving the speech on economic policy, and it was a few guys that got together. They say youre doing great with the, with the race. But it wouldnt be a bad i did a, on aipac, primarily israel and now on Foreign Policy. Always good to have policy mixed in to a president ial election. I think so, yeah. Do you agree with president obama sending 250 more troops into syria, the special operators hes sending in. Do you agree with that move . I agree with it but not telling the world. I would send them in quietly, because right now they have a target on their back. All right. Were going to have more of the interview with donald trump in our 8 00 hour. Joinening us now to discuss what youve heard so far is the cochair of Donald TrumpsHouse Leadership Committee representative from new york. Chris collins. The first republican congressman to endorse trump. Thank you for joining us this morning. Congratulations on the results last night. A big night. Lets skip to the pushback. Ted cruz says, this is just about the media anointing donald trump. Were moving on to favorable terrain now. He said this in indiana. Do you believe that you will win indiana . Well, donald outperformed last night from the numbers we had looked at. He outperformed in new york, where they were counting on maybe 85. He got 90. So every time that weve pencilled where were getting to 1,237, hes exceeding that. Hes going to do fine in indiana, it is a competitive race but the delegates are mounting up. He has said, the presumptive nominee. No question about it. Its time for our party to come together and to take the fight to hillary, her progressive, liberal agenda. The socialist agenda Bernie Sanders promoted she said she pretty much agrees with. So its time to get into the general election fight, and i think mr. Trumps speech today here in washington, his Foreign Policy speech, is his shifting of his campaign into a general election to make sure that all the voters, republicans and democrats, understand the leader that he is, and so youre going to see more and more of this rolling out as we head into california, and certainly on june 7, it will be over. Then our party can come together, but when you hear ted cruz, the loser that he is, always moving the goal post, used to say, well, if it was one on one with donald, id be getting 50 . Donald cant break 50 . Well, he broke 60 with two other people there. Ted cruz in the teens. The party absolutely, 85 of the party has rejected the ted cruz message. I mean, all i can give the guy credit for is somebody, you know, who is losing as hes running around moving the goal posts, trying to change the definition of the game. Donald trump so lets is going to be our nominee. Look at the Foreign Policy speech and then take a look at the path forward for trump. On the speech, i asked him about the 250 special operators being added to the mix in syria. The president announced that youre well aware, i know. He said i agree with the move but dont like announcing it. It puts them at risk. You know that there is no real base for that kind of assessment, that the reason that the president announces it is twofold. One, if anything, it can give a competitive advantage. It shows the enemy you have some of the deadliest are and most effective people in the world coming to stop you, and the second is, that the American People deserve to know when our men and women who are going to go there and give their blood are being put in, that they need to understand and respect that sacrifice. Is it a problem to announce Something Like in in your opinion . I think absolutely. I mean, our president who announces a red line in syria he doesnt adhere to. I mean no strategist ever is going to disclose their strategy. You dont see football coaches before a game sending their playbook and their strategy to the opposing teams. They tell you how many guys are on the field. How many guys on the field. Better to keep your adversaries in the dark. You dont announce when theyre coming or going you dont think the American People should know when youre kp committing more blood to the we have a commander in chief, unfortunately today that nobody trusts the word that he gives. His results and what isis has done, the supposed jv, i mean, every time barack obama calls something out, like isis being the jv, he just makes us in the eyes of the world look ridiculous when, in fact, hes not spoton. So, no. I think i think a commander in chief should keep his strategy within his inner circle and let the results speak for themselves. You just dont give that advantage to your opponent. Understood. Help clarify what we heard today from donald trump as Hillary Clinton. He said, shes just a woman. Playing the woman card. If she wasnt a woman she wouldnt get 5 of the vote, if she were a man. Behind her we saw Chris Christies wife blanch at that description. Thats not her name. Her reaction. Do you think thats the right way to go . I think the main piece is Hillary Clinton is not capable of being the president of the United States. We havent yet taken the fight to her on what shes done with her foundation. We havent taken the fight to her on a progressive liberal agenda. Benghazi still hasnt played out. Her emails. Calling her a woman is that the way to do it . Thats what im asking you . I would probably not have used those words, but theres political correct and not. Mr. Trump speaks what other people may be thinking, but, you know, the fact is shes not qualified, and i dont think certainly as shes going to oppose him in new york. I mean, she did terrible in new york. Up in the upstate part, Bernie Sanders trounced her, up in western new york area, where, you know, thats a key indicator of what happens, which tells me new yorks going to be we both know got well over 50 of the vote here and cleaned up delegates. I understand the regional effect. Got to get going. As always, congressman, great to have you with us and i look forward to having you on new day again. Congratulations on last night. Thank you. The speech the congressman was talking about on Foreign Policy could be a big pivot point for donald trump. Will it . Got to watch it to know. Wolf blitzer will anchor the fors policy speech of donald trump at noon today. And coming up, more on the people who matter in the system right now. Paul ryan, House Speaker, here in the 8 00 hour of new day. Mic . That was Hillary Clinton extending an olive branch to Bernie Sanders supporters as she tries to piv toot to a general election. Sanders releasing a statement saying we are in the race until the last vote is cast, why this is going to the Democratic Convention in philadelphia with as many delegates as possible to fight for a Progressive Party platform. Joining us now, a Hillary Clinton supporter and former Communications Director fop the dnc and americans united for change. Good morning, brad. How are you . Good morning. Quite an intro for you. Thank you. So you must be feeling very good about the results for Hillary Clinton. Absolutely. Last night. What do you think about sanders saying he is staying in this race until every last vote is counted . I dont think the issue is whether or not his campaign continues. I think the issue is how he conducts his campaign. We saw this morning on another Network Donald Trump said that hes paying attention what Bernie Sanders is saying about Hillary Clinton. And he says he considers negative attacks on her by Bernie Sanders sound bites that he is going to use this fall. I dont think Bernie Sanders wants to be the subject of republican advertising against Hillary Clinton in the fall. So, look, she going to turn her attention, i believe, i predict, to donald trump. I know as an organization we are going to turn our attention to donald trump. What does that mean . When you turn your attention to donald trump what are you going to do . It means, for example when he has his Foreign Policy speech today well probably have a lot to say about it in reaction. Hes going to try to turn the page, i think, on some of the kind of outlandish positions hes taken and the things that he said, and were not going to let him get away with that. We have those things on videotape, alisyn. Well turn our attention to what we believe the new battle is, which is increasingly looking like its going to be donald trump. We believe its obviously Hillary Clinton on our sinchtsd donald trump seems to agree with you. Turning his attention to Hillary Clinton. He was just on new day less than an hour ago and he had some things to say about her. Let me play that for you. She is a woman. She is playing the woman card left and right. She did play it last time with obama, but shes playing it much harder this time, and she will be called on it. If she were a man and she was the way she is, she would get virtually no votes. What do you think about that line of attack . Well, look, all i can say is, i hope donald trump just keeps on talking. I hoe he keeps leveling that line of attack. To attack Hillary Clinton for being a woman. Alisyn, think about what were on the cusp of here. Very soon people will be referring to her as the presumptive nominee of the Democratic Party. The first major candidate in our country of a party that is female. Its historic and hes really going to take this line of attack with her, when women are decisive in president ial elections. Theyre a key swing vote, and you know, its extraordinary. I have a feeling well see this walked back at some point a little bit, but you know, donald trump is the gift that keeps on giving. Did not sound like he would walk it back this morning at all. Not but, brad, there are vulnerabilities for Hillary Clinton, even as a woman. Donald trump says playing the woman card. Doesnt look like it from the polls. The latest usa today opinion about the favorables and unfavorables. Actually yun sidedown with women. The y unfavorable, and favorable. How does she turn that around . I have every reason to believe she will turn it around. Hillary clinton for many years, definitely the past year getting it from all sides. Republicans run theyre campaigns against her, Bernie Sanders run a campaign against her. Shes going to get an opportunity now to go contrast her vision for america, alisyn, with Donald Trumps. I think thats going to contrast well. Women are going to respond to it. The context of this race will be different in a general election than it is in a primary, and i those numbers will turn around, i feel confident. One more vulnerability that that poll revealed. Thats independence. A big gap there between the unfavorable and favorable, independents unfavorable, 59 feel that way towards Hillary Clinton and she needs them to win. Do you think this primary, this long primary and fighting against Bernie Sanders in which many people say she had to move to the left, that that hurt her with independents . I dont think that has hurt her so much with independents dents. Its been i think kind of this constant negative attacks against her. And that look, thats going to continue certainly from the republicans, but when you also have a major democratic candidate in your party who is leveling many of those attacks, its going to take going to take a toll on the numbers. You know, this is why its so important to unify the party, why senator sanders can play such a big role in making sure that we deny donald trump the presidency by getting his supporters eventually when its ready, when its time, when he feels its ready, to get his supporters behind Hillary Clinton, and i think those numbers, too, youll see turn around. Brad woodhouse, thank you. Thanks for being on new day. Numbers are the word of the day. Right . Donald trump may call himself the presumptive nominee but doesnt have delegate numbers to back it up. Can he get to 1,237 before the convention . Those numbers will be broken down on new day, next. Sideli. Thats why you drink ensure. With 9 grams of protein and 26 vitamins and minerals. A clean sweep for donald trump this super tuesday. The big question now is, is he going to get to the 1,237 . That magic number, and avoid a Convention Battle . Cnn political analyst David Gregory here to break down the path and significance. My brother. The picture, here we have it. 988, big night. Close to 1,000, as he said this morning. As close as he is, is it dot, dot, dot thus far . More to do, but the idea of a contested convention is losing steam. Look at the number over here, get into your space. 1,237, about 250 shy of getting to that. He is the only one who can get there and actually has a decent chance. Look at the map, in particular, look at states good for trump. Right . California. Indiana must win. Come back to that. West virginia and, of course, new jersey. Come back to this in terms of the other. What are you trying to do here . All right. Ill do it. Okay. Here we look at the actual numbers. So 57 hybrid state in indiana. Why its so important for cruz to stop trump there, but if he gets some of the delegates there, he piles up 51, likely to get all of those, in new jersey, 172 in california for trump, may not get them all but polling well there. Ultimately that gets him farther along. Do you think he wins all 51 in new jersey . The yellow ones on the screen, winner take all. Right. South dakota supposed to be good for cruz. Nebraska a tossup. New jersey should be trump, right . Based on what weve seen in the northeast. Montana cruz as well. Exactly. If youre cruz, right . Let me do it in green. Since this is red. If youre cruz youre looking at washington state, montana. At the plains. Again, you really have to look at indiana. Again, the news this morning, trump doesnt think governor pence will endorse at all. Cruz would like him to endorse. What you got there what happens if cruz take as beat down in ind . This is the firewall. This coalition between kasich and cruz will work, this is the firewall, socially conservative state. If trump can get many of those 57 delegates, it puts him in a stronger position, ba yecause i you go back to whats remaining and you add these numbers, even in places like oregon. 28. Could be good for kasich, but maybe donald trump gets some of them. Because its not winner take all. Right. Our Politics Team looking at the possibility of him getting some. Maybe 14 delegates. Essentially if he can get in new jersey, get all of those. Then back to West Virginia where hes polling well, too at 34. Maybe the lions share of those delegates. What does it all mean . The great john king on the magic wall and on the cnn Politics Team looks at a scenario based on polling and some of the delegates getting trump to 1,241, over 1,237, saying nothing of getting close and negotiating a little bit. The good news, exit polls are uniform in that Republican Voters say if you win the primary, you should get the nomination. Not even saying, only if you get 1,237 or within 100, or four, five saying, period. Always over 60 . Good for his case at a convention. I dont get this. Talking about it earlier this morning. Pennsylvania, all right . Trump romps, but those delegates are largely unbound in that state. Right. And doesnt this feed forget about rigged and the hyperbole of the words he use, but you vote for me, and then the delegate that gets to represent your vote that was for me is unbound, and goes to this convention. You say, well, those are the rules. Is that a good enough explanation . Probably not, and probably for the next goround those rules can be changed. The idea of a loophole primary, maybe its because pennsylvania could be in a position to be a king maker down the road or maybe try to insist upon a Vice President ial pick. But the reality is, what you saw and trump mentioned it to you earlier on the program, they had signup cards. They were trying to get their slate of delegates to get elected on this night, and because he had such a big win in pennsylvania he mark as persuasive case to those wavering, but this is his margins are what really matter. I think the importance of last night was momentum. Hes got a chance. Hes winning in indiana which is a tough state for trump, but winning there. Out to california. If by june you see that trump is making even more momentum towards the finish line, california could be really big for him and, of course, put him over the top, which is what were projecting. So West Virginia, indiana, california, new jersey. A lot of sweet spots for trump here. Only indiana where cruz has got to win is what gives that antitrump movement some running room if hes going to do t. Delegates and perception reality . Yes. David gregory, masterful work on the board and with the mind. Well done, sir. Alisyn . All right. As youve been talking about, ted cruz says indiana is favorable terrain for him. We have two guys who know indiana politics better than anyone. They join us, next. T josh atkins books at laquinta. Com. He gets a ready for you alert the second his room is ready. Donald trump won five for five in the super tuesday primaries, but next weeks indiana primary looms large especially for ted cruz. Donald trump is the one man on earth Hillary Clinton can beat in a general election. And so the media has told us the candidates in this race. The republican and democrat, theyre both going to be new york liberals. But ive got good news for you. Tonight this campaign moves back to more favorable terrain. Is he right . Joining us now, tony cook, investigative and political reporter from the niindianapol star and from indiana, gentlemen, thanks for being here. Delighted to have you, you both have more than two decades of reporting and covering indiana politics. So you guys can really help us understand what were looking at next week. Eric, start with you. Is ted cruz right . Is indiana rich terrain for him where he can beat donald trump . Well, i think hes certainly right its better terrain. Well find out if he can actually beat him, but donald trump has dominated the race by dominating in two regions, in the south and northeast, except for new jersey and West Virginia in a few weeks were done with the south and northeast, and when you get into the midwest hes won in illinois and michigan. Lost in wisconsin and minnesota and in iowa. Well see what happens in indiana. Its a state where if youre a republican, you dont put conservative on your billboards or campaign ads. People wonder what youre doing, and that only works in ted cruzs favor. Tony, hows that socalled alliance between john kasich and ted cruz playing in indiana . Well, i think there are always some questions about this. These two guys have been going headtohead for a while, and competing with each other. So an Uneasy Alliance to begin with and you got of got a mixed message from john kasich in terms of what he wants voters here to do, at least his supporters. So you know, i think that theres a question about how effective that alliance is going to be. Its obviously meant to consolidate antitrump support behind ted cruz here in indiana, and thats a tricky balance for cruz, because hes got to appeal to kasich supporters who be a little more moderate, but at the same time, you know, right now in the polls hes splitting the evangelical vote with trump. Hes got to appeal to those people at the same time. So thats a difficult balancing act for him. Look, we heard how hard running for president then to advise voters not to vote for him. Completely counterintuitive. So john kasich didnt want to do that. Look at the latest poll whats happening in indiana, because its very interesting. A fox news poll. At the moment donald trump has 41 . Cruz 33 . Then john kasich 16 . If kasich bows out, eric where do they go . Well, thats the question. I mean, were going to find out if this is a referendum on donald trump or if he can pick up some of that support. Its safe to say he will pick up some of that support, but for all practical purposes this is for the first time in this campaign a twoman race between ted cruz and donald trump in indiana, and you know, the donald trump last night as he has before said, you know, i havent gotten majorities until now, because there were so many candidates running. The same is true of the other candidates. This is essentially going to be head to head, presumably one of the other of them will get over 50. You would assume that i think that most of the kasich vote would go to ted cruz, but its not just that he has to get most. Hes got to get over 50 . Tony what do you think the governor, mike pence, is going to do . Is he going to endorse anyone . We asked him that question yesterday, and he said hes still undecided. He did meet with john kasich yesterday, although there was no photo op associated with that meeting, as with trump and cruz. So i think hes weighing that still. Increasingly as the clock keeps ticking here its becoming less and less likely hes going to. Obviously, the democrats are also looking at indiana. In fact, Hillary Clinton was there yesterday, and she met with Steel Workers and talked about one of her top priorities. She said. Let me play that moment for you. Steel is crucial to our manufacturing base. Crucial to our National Security, and i will not let this vital industry disappear. And as president , i will go to bat for all of our trades, for our Steel Workers, our ironworkers, everyone who is absolutely looking for that kind of champion. Eric, how will that go over . Do people believe that Hillary Clinton will be a champion for Steel Workers . Yeah. I think they do. Remember, she was speaking in northwest indiana which is not only the steel center of indiana but also one of the most democratic regions of indiana. She can expect to pull a big chunk of the vote out of there, and it should serve her well. I mean, this is going to be a close race. There are polls there as well showing Bernie Sanders isnt striking distance in indiana, but i think the labor vote should be fairly strong in Hillary Clintons corner. A couple Steel Workers unions endorsed Bernie Sanders, including the local that represents Carrier Corporation here in indianapolis. Something donald trump made a lot of hay out of on the stump. A Strong Coalition for her. She won the state eight years ago against barack obama. Although narrowly. Well see what happens in six days time. We sure will. Thank you both. Alisyn, thanks for having us. To michaela. Hillary clinton taking all but one of the northeast primaries, nearly ending sanders path to the nomination. How will his campaign change tactics . I do this because i want my artwork to help people. Did you watch last night . Well, if you didnt, here was a big headline. Hillary clinton didnt have a big night last night, it is what she said about it. She shifted from just talking about Bernie Sanders as a point of contrast to bringing them together, and to looking into the general. Yet Bernie Sanders says he is still moving forward, and he has a plan for the convention. Clinton supporter, Hillary Rosen here to discuss and ben wickler. Ben, lets start with you. What is this path forward for Bernie Sanders after this big victory last night for Hillary Clinton . Fundamentally, the path forward is about advancing the cause, advancing the issues that sanders has fought for throughout his career. He has been clear that this campaign is about a candidate see, contests, you know, from coasttocoast and in between. And Going Forward, every vote that is cast for Bernie Sanders helps to advance issues like stopping bad trade deals, like the tpp, raising the minimum wage to 15, supports the Sanders Movement at the convention, and an effort to change the future of the Democratic Party and the country. Thats why it is so crucial to stay in the race. Hillary rosen, your take . Well, you know, i think we know where sanders is headed. This is a cause. Its not a president ial campaigns are about two things, math and stories. The Sanders Campaign has turned into a story. I think frankly good and helpful. If i were Hillary Clinton, i would be in no rush to start trading insult for insult with donald trump. I would much rather be talking about issues with Bernie Sanders, and so i think were going keep energizing democrats. I think, you know, were going to go into the convention strong, with a fierce determination to keep a campaign about the issues. And you know, hopefully, donald trump is just going to continue to alienate both republicans, independents, and you know, and were going to have a strong general election, because of it. Youre being facetious, do you believe that she will compete on his own level in terms of the personal attack as soon as. Look, i think its going to be hard. I think just from an analytical point of view, this is going to be Hillary Clintons biggest challenge in this general election. People shouldnt make light of it. Which is donald trump is going to turn into insult after insult, and you know, try and make it funny and do everything he has done over the last several months. And you know, we in the media will be going after her everyday, donald trump said this but, what do you think about that. Do were going to be insult. The challenge for Hillary Clinton in particular is going to be to stay above those kinds of daily corrosive insults and keep it on what the American People care about. How do you balance with the Sanders Campaign, giving attention to the issues that matter, with not weakening the person who could be the nominee coming out of the party that you say you support . Key question. If you look at the exit polls from pennsylvania, from connecticut, the vast majority of democrats, i think it was 71 in pennsylvania said the primary has energized them. 58 of republicans said that it had divided them. So this a primary thats good for democrats. It is good for the eventual nominee, regardless of who that is. The opportunity now for the Clinton Campaign is to fight for the support and enthusiasm of the Sanders Movement, the same way that sanders has been building and growing the enthusiasm for the Sanders Movement all along. That means taking bold positions that energize people, give them a reason to turn out to volunteer to donate and get involved. Do you think that sanders should start helping hillary more with that instead of saying she is not this, she is not that, she is not this, doing it in a different way or thats not what is required . You know, i think sanders focus will be on the issues. He issued a release last night saying well fight forward with an issue based campaign. The more people see that this election is an opportunity to advance the cause of justice, of breaking up the big banks, making a country that works for the middle class, of making college, public colleges tuition free. The more of the stakes of the election, the more people get involved. I think sanders is absolutely right to keep calling those issues out and making it the central focus of the president ial year. Last question to you, hillary. Just in terms of fair is fair, in 2008, Hillary Clinton didnt pull out until june and she also fell into the thrawl, seeing these big contests, millions of dollars, getting vote, and she stayed in. Yep. She has been very clear about not wanting to try and push senator sanders out for that very reason. So you know, i think what you heard from her last night is what she will be saying over the course of the next several weeks, and it echoes what ben said, which is we need to all be in this together. I respect what youre standing for. I respect the people youre bringing in to this campaign. And i hope to be able to lead them effectively and we have more in common than we have differences. Hillary, ben, thank you very much. Appreciate the perspective on new day as always. Were going to have more super tuesday ahead, including with the big winner, donald trump. Lets get to it. I consider myself the presumptive nominee. Ive got incredible faith in the common sense of the people of america. Lets go forward, lets win the nomination. Were going to fight this to the last vote is cast. The only card she has is the womans card. Shes got nothing else. Fighting for Womens Health care and paid family leave, and it will pay, playing the woman card, then deal me in. I call her crooked hillary. Shell be a horrible president. A lot of negative voices out there, but anger is not a plan. As far as im concerned, these two guys cannot win. Announcer this is new day, with chris cuomo, alisyn come rote at that and michaela pereira. Good morning, welcome to new day, 8 00 in the east. This is our last wednesday with the mike. It is. Were always together. Its just that ill be except for when were not, like next monday. Enough of that. We cant fix that. Here are things we can discuss that still have progress, thats the election. Big victories last night for clinton and trump. Dominating the five states in the northeast, clinton winning 4 of 5, but still, getting closer to clinching the party nomination. Trump says the republican race is a done deal. He calls himself the presumptive nominee. Youre going to hear from trump himself in just a few moments. As for the democrats, Hillary Clinton winning 4 out of the 5 state, now 90 of the way to having the delegates needed to clinch. Bernie sanders says he is staying in until every last vote. We have the 2016 race covered only the way cnn can. Lets head to john berman to breakdown the numbers. 5 for 5. You cant do better than that. Donald trump won all five, pennsylvania, maryland, connecticut, rhode island, delaware, ted cruz finished in third place in every state except pennsylvania. Hillary clinton won 4 out of the 5, including pennsylvania, the big prize for the democrats, but the most delegates, Bernie Sanders running out of big states left on the map. He did manage to win rhode island, won it convincingly, but didnt do much in terms of delegates. Lets look at the delegate math right now. Hillary clinton won 214 last night. Bernie sanders with 160. She nets 54 delegates at a time when Bernie Sanders had hoped to be closing that gap. On the republican side, donald trump, he picked up 142 delegates, ted cruz and john kasich with five each. Unbound delegates from the state of pennsylvania, cnn called all of them and figured out which were committed to donald trump. He did manage to wrangell some of them. That in and itself is interesting. Lets talk about the overall picture. 988 for donald trump, ted cruz back at 568. You can see donald trump, about 250 away from reaching the magic number, getting ever closer. Hillary clinton much closer than that, even. She is at 200168. Bernie sanders at 1,041. You can Hillary Clinton as well, Bernie Sanders needs to flip the super delegates between now and july, but it seems pretty solid, michaela. Donald trump relishing that clean sweep. Trump on the cruz Kasich Alliance, shifting to indiana, jim acosta is in washington with more. Zmplts good morning, were going to see donald trump trying to pull off the general election pivot later on today. Hell show off his walk decide on a big speech. The it is to demonstrate the world affairs, calming nervous republicans he cant move beyond insults and oneliners. He towered over his rivals last night, steering roller coaster candidate, appeared that way at time, on to a steadier path to the gop nomination. The frontrunner on the republican side, stayed on the attack against his rivals, and tried to make that pivot to the general election with harsh comments about Hillary Clinton playing the woman card. Those are his words. Here is more of what he had to say. If Hillary Clinton were a man, i dont think she would get 5 of the vote. The only thing she has got going is the womans card. And the beautiful thing is, women dont like her, okay. Reporter but trump still has a few more battles ahead as ted cruz and john kasich are shaking out a shaky new alliance to slow Donald Trumps momentum in indiana, with cruz staking the fate of his campaign on winning indiana. Trump advisors are trying to apply maximum pressure on the texas senator. They are making the case if cruz and kasich and their plan fails in indiana, that they are basically finished in this race. Back to you. Okay, jim, thanks so much. Hillary clinton, calling for party unity after four more divisive wins on super tuesday, reaching out to Bernie Sanders and his supporters as she closes in on the democratic nomination. Jeff zeleny is live in philadelphia with what comes next. Reporter good morning, alisyn. In three months time, the democrats will gather here in philadelphia to move forward for the rest of the fight. Hillary clinton took a giant step toward becoming that democratic. Now, the race of course not totally over, but mathematically speaking, she essentially put it out of reach last night for Bernie Sanders. You can feel the energy, you can feel the shift in the race last night, as she swept on to the stage with that theme song, the anthem from rocky, iii, and had a message for Bernie Sanders supporters. I applaud senator sanders and his millions of supporters for challenging us, to get on accountable money for our p politics and giving greater emphasis to closing the gap of inequality. And i know together, we will get that done. Reporter and senator sanders issued a Statement Last night, saying that he is going to continue in these 14 remaining primaries that are left here and run an issues orientated campaign. There was not as much mention of winning. He wants to simply build enough delegates to go to the convention here in philadelphia to try to move the partys platform in a more progressive way. Well find out exactly his tone when he campaigns today in indiana. If he still continues to go after Hillary Clinton, and more importantly, chris, if he puts any money on television there, if he actually starts advertising against Hillary Clinton. This race is almost over, but not quite. Chris. Key perspective, jeff, thanks very much. Lets shift back to donald trump, he talked about the after glow of his victory. His gop rivals, and what may be in that Foreign Policy speech today. He also responded to questions about reports that he rejected the advice of his new advisors to change his tone to be more president ial. Take a listen. Paul is a big fan of mine. He made incredible statements about the way i speak, saying it was maybe the best he has ever seen anybody speak. He made some great statements about he went to a couple of, you know, rallies yesterday, and the day before. We had a rally in pennsylvania for 25,000 people. He said he has never seen anything like it, and he did cover reagan, bush. He said he has never seen anything like these rallies. And he said i get it. And you know, im not going to be changing. Im president ial any way. I can change to president ial. But im president ial any way, i guess. What does it mean when you say change to president ial. I mean a lower key version of myself and not to use any language that would be offensive. I dont do that any way. I feel i shouldnt be doing that. I was doing that for a period of time for emphasis, but i feel that i shouldnt be doing that. Im not, you know, im not doing that. And i used to, when i made speeches, nonpolitical, i would use foul language and people would go crazy, but when youre running for office, its a little different, as you know. I think trying not to curse is probably the least of reaching that bar. But lets look at why that would it might be the most of reaching that bar. Well, i hope not. I hope were going do better in that as we get into the general. When you look at why, youre doing very well in the primaries by anybodys math. However, youre only get 25, 26 of your party showing up. You have about half the party that hasnt come into the tent with you yet. Youre going into a general election, if you get the nomination, where youre going to have to sway a lot of people who dont like the hashness. So thats why people are saying can you show another side of yourself, can you bring people together. Last night, talking about Hillary Clinton, whom you call crooked hillary, you said the only thing she has is the woman card. Now, even Chris Christies wife, standing behind you made a face when you said that. Do you think thats a winning formula to say the winning card is all that Hillary Clinton has . Yes, its part of it is certainly part. She is a woman, playing the woman card, left and right. She didnt play it last night with obama, but she is playing it much harder this time, and shell be called on it. How do you call somebody on being a woman . Just tell them youre playing the womans card. But what does that mean exactly. Frankly if she didnt, she would do very poorly. How do yo know that . I know it because i think if she were a man and she was the way she is, she would get virtually no votes. I hear what youre saying, im trying to figure out what your basis is for the measurements of a perspective matchup, not only is she beating you with women, she is beating you with white women. Do you think thats a good message to here, all she has is a woman. It sounds dismissive. I was competing against 17 very capable people, youve heard this. Im sure you heard it last night. I was competing against 17 very, very capable people. And a woman. And what happened was one by one, they disappeared. And everyone said whats going on. Whats happening. A governor, a senator, a governor, a senator. But one by one, they disappeared. And they thought trump was going to be there for a couple of weeks. He was going to have some fun. He was going to go to monte carlo and have a good time. I knocked everyone of them off. For the most part, i knocked them off. They werent knocked off. They were taken off. Same thing that will happen to hillary. You just dont know me. We know each other very well, mr. Trump. Thats why im not completely surprised by the success youve had to this point. But do you believe, then, that what got you here will take you all the way to the white house . I think so. Now, you know, i may tone it down or i may tone it up. I cant tell you what im going to do. I dont know. Depends, you know, i use the word flexibility. You have to be flexible. You do. Somebody said, well, will you go this way or that way. I dont know. I will determine when i see how the other people punch back. But hillary has a lot of flaws. A lot of problems. She hats woman card. A lot of women, as you know, dont like hillary, despite the card. And you know, well see what happens. Youre going to cover it better than anybody. And cnn is doing a very good job. Well, thats we take great pride. Errol is very bias against me. He says thats not true. He is totally bias. There are others over there, but e erol, some day ill watch him Say Something good about trump and ill be so happy. Lets talk more about everything youve just heard. Senior advisor, barry bennett. Good morning, barry. Good morning. You must feel very good morning. It is a great morning for you. Must feel good about the five state sweep. Yeah, we won every Congressional District in all five states. Lets talk about what we just heard mr. Trump say on new day and he is repeating a new line of attack against Hillary Clinton. He seems to be now turning his attention away from his rivals in the primary towards Hillary Clinton. He said she is playing the womans card and playing it differently than she did last time. What does this mean. Well, i dont know. I mean, i hear hillary talk about she has been fighting for things that frankly hasnt been fixed. I look forward to hearing about her achievements or lack thereof. How is she playing the womans card. Thats her record. Well, i mean she did it last night, right. She talked about how she is fighting for Womens Health, she is fighting for women she has been fighting a lot, for 30 years, and nothing seems to get solved. Well talk about all those issues, particularly how they relate to women. In terms of women, lets look at the latest polls in terms of how donald trump is doing with women. This a usa today poll, it was out this week. His unfavorables are quite high with women. The latest poll has him at 66 unfavorable, 24 favorable. So how do you think this line after tack about the woman card is going to play with female voters . Well, you know, you can look tea po at that poll. He has gotten more republican votes than mitt romney or john mccain so far. And he should easily surpass what george bush got. So he will have more republican primary votes than any republican candidate, alive or dead, in the history of our country. Right but in the general, hell need women to feel better about him than they do today. In the republican primary, he wins women every week. But in the general, he is going to need women independents and women, and theyre not feeling great about him. What do you think it is that is causing that 66 number . You know, i the 66 number is kind of, it has to be a relative number. Hillary clintons negative is about 60. So its not that big a gap. If you look at the Battle Ground poll out this week, they had the two of them at 66 43 in the fall. Hillary has a lot of problems. Some legal, some just, you know, not getting things done, over 30 years. The numbers will change dramatically as we change towards november. Lets talk about next week, indiana. Does your camp, does the Trump Campaign have any fear that ted cruz will win indiana . He certainly going to try very hard, but so are we. You know, he is won four state primaries, eight caucuses. Last night, he finished last everywhere but pennsylvania. Theyre kind of on their last breath. If this was a frippris a prize would have stopped the fight. He said it will be better this week. He says this every week. Its crazy. I dont know why indiana is better for them than ohio. I mean, im from ohio. Theyre very similar states. Makes no sense. I mean, the fact that bob fwee knight will be campaigning with mr. Trump today, thats a big, big deal, especially in the middle of, in the heartland, in the big 10 country. So yeah, mr. Trump will do just fine in indiana. Mr. Cruz will have some rhetoric. So the cruz Kasich Alliance, where by kasich has basically agreed to step aside in indiana so that cruz can amass more votes there, that doesnt cause you any concerns . Well, it seems to have fallen apart within about four hours of it being announced, with kasich saying, no, people in indiana should vote for me. Im not going to tell them not to vote for me. I have no idea what that means. Mr. Kasich is low on resources. They both cannot win. There is not enough delegates left for them to win. Theyre trying to game the system, create some sort of open convention, which is not going to happen. I think more and more people now understand, look, donald trump will easily get to 1,237, and probably significantly higher. Barry bennett of the Trump Campaign, thanks so much for joining us this morning. Thanks, alisyn. Wolf blitzer will be anchoring the live coverage Foreign Policy speech, today at noon. Stick around for that. Also, in just a few minutes, well have House Speaker paul ryan. Hell join us here on new day. He doesnt have the math or momentum, but Bernie Sanders keeps going. Once i left the hospital after a dvt blood clot. What about my wife. What were building together. And could this happen again . Tmobile does data differently. So it can do more for your business. Hillary clinton celebrating and conciliating on this big primary night. Despite winning only one state last night, Bernie Sanders still very much apart of the equation. What happens next. What did last night mean. Lets discuss with the host of cnn cnns, michael smercomis shchlt. Inevitably on both sides, with regard to the ds. Mathematically, it becomes more difficult to envision a path where he can get there. I think chris were back to where we gabegan. It is message than victory. His supporters dont seem to mind that. The money doesnt dry up and the crowds dont go away. The candidate normally folds his or her tent when they no longer have a funds source. Thats not the case with regard with Bernie Sanders. Im convinced if he stays into california, hell draw huge crowds and continue to get 27 contributions. Who sang that song, back where we started . Here we go round. The kinks. Lets play that, but not yet. Lets talk about what Bernie Sanders said. He said hell stay in until every last vote is counted. Is that a problem . Well, i think its a problem for secretary clinton insofar as she would rather dispense with him, stop spending the money thats necessary to run for the next five weeks, and be able to fully pivot toward donald trump or the republicans, which i think she began to do with that speech in philadelphia last night. To me, that struck me as much mora more alisyn of general election remarks than someone focused on a democratic challenger. She is trying to attract Bernie Sanders supporters. That was a much more conciliatory tone. Olive branch. What has been so great about the Bernie Sanders campaign. Thats a totally different tone than what weve heard in the past couple of weeks. It is. Im more interested to hear what his tone will be in response, whether hell continue to bang the drum about the transcripts of the wall street speech, which i think are directly connected to some of the negative numbers on untrustworthiness or dishonesty or will he take it down a notch, which is what i expect him to do. Whats the catch . The catch is how far can Hillary Clinton go embracing those who believe in Bernie Sanders more extreme solutions to known problems, without compromising herself with those very important people in the middle, in the general election. What is your take . I think youre right, chris. Especially when were now going to be envisioning a map, presuming its donald trump, because i think he is right in saying he is the presumptive nominee. It changes the math. I mean, my home state of pennsylvania might truly be, we say it every four years, this time, it might be true, it could be in play for the First Time Since 1988. So she cant be in too far to the left, sanders like, if she wants to win the state like her predecessors and her husband have done. Michael, i know you have your white board where you do your wizardry. Can you explain pennsylvania. Since that is your home state, this one of a kind system where by donald trump can win everywhere, and there is these 54 unbound delegates . I mean that does he says that its rigged, the system is rigged, but to voters, even if you dont think it is rigged, it doesnt quite feel fair. So let me start with this. Even though i dont have hd, you can see the map of pennsylvania that im holding up from the philadelphia enquirer this morning. This is all you need to know. All red. Donald trump won everyone of the 67 counties. Whats most stunning to me, guys, the way in which he ran in the suburbs, truly a bellwether. You would have expected john kasich, i expected john kasich to run far stronger in s. 54, no matter what they say today, are completely untethered. They can decide between now and cleveland, when they cast a ballot. What was the history on that . Why did they go that way . Okay, so the history and maybe chris, there is logic this year. To empower pennsylvania to be in the role of a king or queen maker, so for example, in this scenario, they hold the cards, because if they could move as a block, and thats a huge if, these are 54 distinctly different personalities, but they really could put trump at 1,237, or sticking together as a cohesive unit. They could say we want tom ridge, the former governor of the state, to be your running mate. So it was intended with some logic to empower the state, because normally we are so late in the process, we dont matter. But what is nutty is that when i went in to vote yesterday, there were four people running for delegate, three would be elected. No indication for whom i was voting, and what they would do. I happened to have contacted all four of them in advance, because i wanted to know. What will you do on the first ballot. By the way, i am told that the number of the 54 who are saying theyll go to trump, is somewhere in the 35 number range. 35 of 54. Thats good scoop, michael. Good reason that people are truss freights frustrated. So i voted for trump and this guy is 35 of 54. He is a point. I think as a practical matter, i think we get too hung up on 1,237. Perhaps the threshold is 1,100. How do you say to that c constituen constituency, its not your guy. If he gets close, he gets there. Im going to pose that very question to paul ryan, who as you know, is a numbers cruncher about what to do about what to do with trump if he gets close. Michael, thank you. See you guys. You did my work for me. You have teased what we have coming up. Take a break. Should i put my feet up. Were preparing for mickles. You need me today. Paul ryan joining us after the break. We have all sorts of questions for him. Among them, how will this presumptive nominee, as he is dubbing himself, unite the party or will he . Paul ryan will join us after the break. In place. Next to these strangers. Or you want to know your heart rate. When youre doing this steady. This. And a little bit of this. Which means you should probably wear this. Donald trump declaring himself the presumptive nominee. 5 for 5 sweep in the northeast primaries. I consider myself the presumtiv nominee, absolutely. Senator cruz and governor kasich should get out of the race. They have no path to victory. So, what does House Speaker paul ryan think of that statement . He of course will chair the republican National Convention in cleveland in july. Just yesterday, he issued a warning to the feuding candidates to get their acts together. House Speaker Paul Ryan joins now. How you doing. Good morning, alisyn. How are you doing. You look well also. Lets talk about last night. As i said, youre numbers cruncher extraordinaire. Given the results last night, do you see any way that he is not the republican nominee . He definitely had a good night, as you no, i am neutral in this thing. Im not going to feed the speculation one way or the other. We have six weeks left to go, is as far as im concerned, were going to let it play itself out. Were busy in the house fixing problems, promoting an agenda for whoever our nominee will be that we present to the country come fall. Thats what were busy working on. Im not speculating on these things. Sure. I know you dont have a horse in this race. But in terms of the numbers, i want to ask you about this. It is not my expertise, the delegate counting. Budgets in congress are my experti expertise. I didnt stay up last night figuring the math to the path to the nomination. I dont even know what his delegate count is right now. I dont have an answer for that. Its not something im focused on. I give you credit for being a math whiz. Im not going to take the bait. Thanks. I see that. Look, you are also the chairman of the rnc. So i mean, of the convention, so lets talk about what might happen if donald trump does not get to the 1,237 number. But he gets close. Should he be the nominee . Thats going to be debt significance made by t decision made by the delegates. The rules are followed fairly is my job. So if he or anyone gets the 1,237, the majority of the delegate, prior to the convention, yes, that person will win on the first ballot. If they dont . If they dont, if he doesnt win on the first ballot, it goes to successful ballots until they have a majority vote. I have no idea how it will go. The point im making, it will be done fairly and transparently by the rules. Thats all i can say. I dont know where this will go. Very quickly. One last thing and ill stop torturing you on this. We. Thank you. We heard over and over again from the voters that they feel they understand the rules are the rules, except that if somebody gets close, if donald trump is say he hits the 1,100 threshold, they think if in fact he should be the nominee. We see it in connecticut, pennsylvania, they think whoever gets closest, thats who the party should nominate. Look, we are a country based upon a very important principle, the rule of law. And that means we dont bend the rules based on the wins of the day, we play the rules by the rules. We follow the rules. And so that is how our party is organized. Thats how a convention will be structured. We will stick to the rules so that we dont bend them for anybody, because think of how Chaotic Society is if you have laws and rules that you dont live or follow by. I would argue thats one of the problems we have in america today, and so were not going to bend the rules for anybody. Were going to follow the rules as the rules are written. I want to talk about something happening today thats interesting. Youre going to be giving a speech at Georgetown University to college kids, and youre going to be i guess making the case to them about why become a conservative. So what is your message to millennia millennials. My message to young people, a way of life. S a fiphilosophy d young people are used to cu customizing things in their life. Why would you want to support a government philosophy, your health care, your doctor, your education, finance and all the rest. What we dont want to have it a top down philosophy where we have elites ruling us in government bwe want clear and consistent government where people are solving our problems, and were not asking others to rule us, which is what is happening these days with progressivism in this branch of government. Young people get it. They want to be part of the society. They want to make decision, they want to run the economy, they want to start businesses. And conservativism and we know it and live it is the best promise that we have. Want to acquaint young people with that. That sounds really good. Youre right. Young people want a more individualized customized experience, but as you know, from being there in the halls of congregation how unwheel the federal government is, case in point, the budget. I mean, how is the budget battle going . Well, one of the reasons why its harder to pass a budget this year is because the budget numbers were decided last year and passed already. So a lot of people are saying why pass the budget when we have the numbers set and in law. I think we should do it, just say for only for symbolic reasons, because we need to show what the road map looks for, how we balance the budget, pay down the debt. This is a tough year, because politics is going in every different direction. The argument i would make and what were trying to do with our agenda is were offering an agenda that unify all conservatives and republicans, and we think is appealing to young people, and the crux of it is lets stop having croninism, and telling us to live our lives. Lets make government more effective. More efficient, more accountable to us as people. More importantly, lets get the Foreign Policy together. These are the things we believe in, undivided government, were not getting things done that we need to get done. Finding common ground, opiate abuse, bipartisan, but the big issues of the day, alisyn, we owe it to the country to show them an alternative, that the citizens in american have a compelling choice. It is our obligation as the alternative Proposition Party to offer that to people and thats what were doing. I know, in addition to the budget, thats what youve been working on. Youve been working on this policy platform so that people know what the gop stands for. Is it complicated for you that the frontrunner of your party doesnt seem to comply with some of the tenants of the policy platform that youre putting together . In fact, he is quite at odds with it. He wants Social Security as is, raise taxes on the wealthiest people. All of that stuff, does it complicate it for you . Well, we can get into details, but i think on the big things, whoever our nominee will be, i believe is going to be comfortable with the direction were going. Were talking about ideas and principles and policies that unify us. How do you do tax reform to grow the economy, make government more accountable to the people, restoring our article ipow1 pow. These are things that everyone running for president , whether its donald trump or john kasich or ted cruz are all talking about, different variations of the same theme, but this is something that unifies all of us. Im comfortable, and by the way, ive spoken to all of these men. I know. So i feel like were going to be able to unify republicans and conservatives to offer the country this fall a very k clear and compelling choice so that the people of this nation get to decide where we go as a country. So in that phone call with donald trump, he said he is comfortable with your vision of the gop . Yeah, i said here is what were doing, we decided this last year before the president ial election got started. And yes, we had a pleasant conversation. Speaker paul ryan, thanks so much for being on new day. Great to talk to you this morning. You too, alisyn. Thanks. All right, donald trump basically telling his gop rivals, youre fired. Donald trump batting 1,000 in the super tuesday primaries in the northeast. 5 for 5. So does that mean hell reach the magic number before the convention . Joining us now, number guru, for real, not like what you tried to do to paul ryan. David, i dont know if you heard that. Alisyn tried the bait and switch. He loves the number. He is a number cruncher. He was like i dont want to look at the numbers. I thought it was a i valeant effort. This is what you do for a living, my brother. What do you see . Is the path as clear as mr. Trump suggests . Well, maybe not quite as Crystal Clear as he suggests, but pretty darn close. The biggest headline out of the sweep last night is the number 50 . Thats now the number he needs of the remaining delegate, 50 of them, to hit the 1,237 before the convention. Thats a huge deal. He went into last night with that number at a 8 or 59 . He has been winning 48 to date. Just keep doing what youre doing, thats not that difficult. And guys, last night, he won 83 of the delegates available last night. Now, im not suggesting every night on the map Going Forward is as good for trump as a night like last night, and i dont expect him to win 83 of the delegates every night, but 83 last night, winning 50 of the remaining is very much within reach. He could well hit the 1,237 before the convention. Is the biggest challenge indiana for him. It is in two ways. Yes, for delegate purposes, because its one of those hybrid winner take all systems. So if mr. Trump does not win in indiana, a slew of delegate also go to the winner, lets say its ted cruz, and then by Congressional District. If cruz puts together on this one on one fight without kasich in the ways, where cruz can emerge, but i think it is much more about being a psychological victory for the stop trump force, if it comes to be. If ted cruz cant win in indiana, guys, all the win comes out of the sails that trump is stoppable. How many states do we have like pennsylvania that you think youre voting somebody and the delegate is supposed represent the vote and they can do what they want. They can do whatever they want, we have states where you elect delegates instead of voting to support the candidate you choose. Illinois, new york are states where you do that. You elect delegates directly. But pennsylvania, then, has this weird quirk added to it. Youre electing delegates that are total free agents, those 54 unbound delegates are the closest thing the republicans have to super delegates, truly free agents, until they cast their ballot on the convention floor. As you know, cnn has reached out to the great majority of them, and many of them are either supporting donald trump, or supporting who wins in their Congressional District, and guess what, that was donald trump last night. So was last night the unofficial start of the general, where we heard him turning towards Hillary Clinton, we heard her turning different tone towards Bernie Sanders, and that theyre going to start trump and clinton will start going after each other now. Certainly both the Trump Campaign and the Clinton Campaign are starting to set their sights on november. So yes, i do think we started seeing candidates who know that they have a little bit of tidying up that they need to do before they can get to their summer conventions, but they are keenly aware that they are going to likely be the nominees, and therefore, start to focus on this. The other thing i heard donald trump do last night in his speech, alisyn, not just focusing on Hillary Clinton, but starting to whoo Bernie Sanders supporters. Great to talk to you. Thank you.
