And the remarkable thing in a way is that chinese have managed to basically devalue their currency by a full 10 burden o. We have seen negligible to zero inflation on the tariffs. If you think about putting 10 tariffs on the additional 300 billion of chinese goods. Which by the way are Consumer Products a lot of these. Correct. These are things that people buy. Lets do a little math, consumer math when we started the tariffs back in march of 2018 since then the chinese currency has fallen by 10 . So even if we were able to pass the the chinese could pass on the tariffs all to the consumers wed still only be back to where we were a little over a year ago. The idea that how the tariffs are going to create inflation were in not seeing it. The chinese are gaming the system. Why did we do this . I think thats the important question. Im saying that i dont see it id rather see it in the data than hear it from multinational corporations that have a strong interest in shooting down our tariffs policy. Here is the thing, look. People are watching this show. Look, we should agree on this. China should not be stealing our intellectual property, forcing technology. Absolutely. Forcing transfer of technology, hacking our commuters. Mitting the currency and dumping fentanyl in the communities. If we we can agree on that the only question is what do we do about it. You say there is a price to stop that you think it can stop it but there is a price and americans will pay part of that price, peter thats what im. Theyre not paying the sacrifice. Thats also a fact. We have not seen in type of support or highlight for our communities in decades from a president ial administration. To date its not been a year yet, and not seen investment come into the communities. It takes some time. I believe what the president was calling on is some Conscious Capital that we need infused within our urban centers. We need those corporations and businesses and investors to see the opportunities in the distressed communities that the president was pointing to. And not just the easier ones that are around the periphery of the city. So when he comes out and calls it a rodent infested, rats what does that do . Well, to me i have grown up in baltimore all my life born around raised, and frankly he is highlighting the real conditions and reality that we face in urban communities that have been neglected for decades. But injury we have to move beyond just the highlighting the conditions and really go forward to the Real Solutions to the problem. We cannot wait there are issues of poverty that we cant just wait until we get the president that we like or the party we want. What do you want him to do right now . Look, you say its great he announced this you hadnt gotten that amount of attention. At least you say nothing has yet come of it, right . Its been. Its a you want something to come of it but nothing has as of yet. He certainly got to appear with people like you. He got that appearance. He got that photo op put the numbers out there. What does he need to do now to prove to the world that he actually cares and meant it . Its a battleship thats hard to turn around. I mean i pastored for 17 years and i understand what it is to bring about change. But i think he needs to not just share the rhetoric of the negative but that he should also engage and influence investors to really take advantage of moving monies into distressed communities. I think that he has those types of influences. And i have every optimism that he will fulfill that and im looking forward to that before the year ends. Thats problem number one. What the president has done, i dont know if its intentional or not but the result is significant to mention is that the president really is kind of changed the narrative.
