A source says the president is fixated on the raid of cohens home and office even as the president met with the japanese Prime Minister at maralago as you see. We are learning tonight the president s concern that the feds have everything, every single thing, that he has told cohen and every single thing that cohen has done for him over the past 12 years. Keep in mind, the investigation into Michael Cohen is a formal, criminal investigation. Everything is at stake for him and for the president of the United States. Weve all heard about the 130,000 payment to Stormy Daniels, of course, but that could just be the very tip of the ice berlg here. The legal pressure on Michael Cohen is as intense as it gets. Raising the question of whether he will turn on the man who has given him his career an his livelihood. Now cnn today catching cohen outside his manhattan hotel. He didnt have much to say, refusing the ooempk answer why sean hannity was one of three clients when hannity says hes not. Are you going to tell us whether or not mr. Hannity is a cli client of yours . Well, that came as hannity is lashing out in a much more verbose manner. Saying this isnt about him at all. I find some of it amusing and i will tell you this. Ive understood my whole life the dangers of the size, scope, power of government. Ive understood it. I understand deep state actors, but ive never seen it this bad. They want to understood mimine this president out of office. Unfortunately for hannity, this is not just about the president of the United States right now. Hannity is involved with the president s personal lawyer, who let me say it again, is under formal, criminal investigation. Hannity says its not then, no relationship here, just kind of friends, maybe occasionally talked about real estate. Cohen says no, in fact, one of my clients may be the president of the United States, but the other two are so important, there are three and one is you. Now, theres a treasuretrove of documents. The big question is what could be in them. Evan, what are you learning about why hannity could be so important here . Well, theres a reason, erin, that he was listed as somebody that they didnt want to reveal the name of as a client for Michael Cohen, so theres a lot of puzzlement as to why this is. We know hannity is a sort of an informal adviser to President Trump. And we know that Michael Cohen kept meticulous records. He kept detailed records including notes, electronic records. Tapes. We know that the fbi has in its possession and so the question is was he present for any conversations perhaps between hannity and members of the administration perhaps even the president himself. Did michael choohen keep notes those and is that what theyre so alarm ed about . It is clear that the president , people who were close to the president say hes apoplectic in part because he doesnt trust the fbi team. Theyre known as a clean team, thats supposed to go in and look through the records and determine whats relevant to the investigation. He doesnt trust the fbi to do this work. And that is the reason why he hired these good lawyers in new york who worked before the judge and got a chance. Hes got to take a look at what Michael Cohen has. What was f puzzling about the case in the last couple of days in new york was the fact that Michael Cohens own lawyers were standing there saying we have no idea what he kept and no idea what these records are that the fbi now has. And so thats the reason why you see the alarm that is happening here over what exactly he may have kept notes on and what that really goes to in this investigation. Thank you very much, evan perez. Its pretty shocking and frightening, right in you have a lawyer who cant tell his own lawyers. Cant or went tell them what was taken. Its pretty incredible. Outfront tonight, the former attorney for the Southern District of new york. Hes familiar here and the players involved. Wendy murphy, mark preston. So, harry, this treasuretrove of documents that Michael Cohens lawyers dont know whats in them. Everyones going to get to look here, but how important could they be . These documents he wants to keep private. That could involve sean hannity. One has to think they have great value given the fullcourt press ta weve seen both from cohens own lawyers and from President Trumps lawyers who ran into court on friday and over the weekend to try to stop the disclosure. Now, its true, anyone who has dealings with the lawyer doesnt want those dealings to become public, but intensity of the concern here and the Ongoing Investigation into Michael Cohen for several months now by career prosecutors, nonpartisan, ark political prosecutors, is that some have said maybe the most serious threat. There would be nothing to hide, right, other than zasean t ripped off in a deal. The point is, it wouldnt matter, but it does. It seems to matter in a very significant way. Thwhat do you think could be in the Cohen Communications . Is. Well, you know, its anyones guess, but i garruarantee you i more than real estate. I think that goes without saying. For the reason you suggested. If it was just chitchat about real estate, there would have been b no objection at all. Heres an interesting thing. Last friday, the judge says to cohen, i want you to bring in on monday your list of clients. I would imagine because its a cord order a that cohen would have made a phone call to hannity and said, look, ive got to name you, do you want me to object. Say he wants to remain confid t confidential or reveal your name. And yet i vpat heard yet whether they had a conversation at all. If they did, that means hannity told cohen to object and that means hannity was a client and hannitys mind and in cohens mind because you cant object unless theres an Attorney Client relationship there. And if there is one and i think thats a big if, if theres an attorney clooint relationship there, then i guarantee you it has a lot to do with something far more important than real estate chitchat. It certainly would seem just from a lay point of view. That youre stating a fact. Because it would seem impossible to understand this in any other light. The market is unbdeniable that when it comes to the president and handy, right, that they b l bolster each other constantly. Both people are getting something out of it. Nothing is is al truistic here, but they talk all the time. Heres the proof. I have this witch hunt constantly going on for over 12 months now. And actually, much more than that. Muellers witch hunt investigation is now a run away train. Not looking at the hkds horrib Hillary Clinton horrible things she did. You think Hillary Clinton had her offices raided . Not a chance the reason why democrats only talk about the totally made up russia story is because they have no message. No agenda. This is more proof the Democratic Party is in total disarray. They have no agenda. I mean, word for word, mark, pretty incredible. I mean, they certainly are close. No doubt. You know, their relationship, friends, is real and its something that i spoke to several people today that are know trump very, very well. The matter is the president told to that president , hannity realizes that he need to president. They to have that symbiotic relationship and what else is interesting is that one of these folks who knows these two men very, very well is that this is a relationship weve seen evolve over the past 14 months basically since trump went into office and weve seen so much churn within his press office and with his Senior Adviser s i that trump finds himself by himself in the west wing so hes trying to reach out to folks that he thinks the same way he does. Thats what were seeing with hannity. The word there is incredible just to hear it. Hannity says cohen was not his lawyer. Cohen say hes so important hes worthwhile to mention of only three clients. We know about hush payments and with the president of the United States, there will be many other transactions. Some of which could be the center of this probe, perhaps. But clearly, someone is not telling the truth here, when it comes to cohen and hannity. Who and why . What is going on. So hannity in that tweet yesterday starts off by saying hooe later, i do sometimes talk to him about legal advice. Well, we talk ed about real estate occasionally m hannity and cohen dont want these statements to come out. And when a person talks to a lawyer and theyre trying to keep statements out of the public eye, why not say the con ver sag was prif leoneled. If a lawyer and a client talk b about things that have nothing to do with legal advice, that have to do with political or current events, those statements arent privileged. I have friends. Doesnt mean everything we talk about is privileged. Usually nothing is unless im representing them. On a specific matter. Wendy, fox news clearly wants to sweep this under the rug. They put out a Statement Today acknowledging that they had no clue and like the rest of us, they were probably dumbfounded. So kay. It comes out while fox news was unaware of the relationship with Michael Cohen and was surprised by the announcement in court, we have reviewed the matter and spoken to sean and he has our full support. Sound lix they think this is going to go away. They may be right and they may know more about whats in those developments. I dont think its true that cohen isnt telling everybody what he has if those documents, his actions in the future will be revealing about whether theres a lot of there there. Theyre trying to squeeze him. He has mission mag on russia. He faces serious criminal charges. If theyre trying to squeeze him, i think we can assume theres not much in there. On the other hand, if he starts cooperating. Bottom line, will cohen turn on the president . Haez will the of incentive to turn. When the government filed their interesting parts. The parts that told us what is mr. Cohen under investigation for and if its as serious as it appear, he will have every incentive to flip. Its not for everyone. They have to decide whether testifying against friends in and associates is something they want to do. But theres a tremendous incentive, particularly in the federal criminal system where swrunlgs can vary from the otherwise not quite mandatory, but very compelling federal guidelines. The best way is to flip. U you could be looking at the alternative. Of many years in prison. When it comes to that choice. Well see what happens if they ends up being the situation. Thank you all. Next, nikki haley fighting back. Moments ago, you know, the white house today say she was ahead of the curb on russia sangs, but wow, is she punching them in the face tonight. Ambassador nikki haley is firing back at the president s top economic adviser, larry kudlow, over this comment to jeff zellny. The comment was haley got ahead of the curb by anounouncining n sanctions were coming any minutes got ahead of the curb. Done a great job. Very effective ambassador. Might have been some momentary confusion about that. Oh, no. Haley has responded. This is what i call the pumpbl in the face. With all due respect, i dont get confused. And the white house official just confirming, kudlow in response has apologized to haley. Jeff is with the president in west palm beach, florida. Jeff, this is a huge thing because youre coming out saying were going to bomb syria and assad over whats happening here with Chemical Attacks then come out with the u. N. Abass dorr and say theres sanctions, then wait, hold on, the president says not so fast. Maybe not sapgsnctions. There is more confusion about the confusion of these sanctions. The day started the fact and the president of course is meeting with abe here, the Prime Minister of japan, but this is hanging over the white house still. They cant answer the question about what happened during the one h day period, when the u. N. Ambassador, whos been one of the most poll lisis polished ca members. She said this is going to happen. New sanctions. The president clearly rejected that idea on you know, 24 hours after that. Kudlow ends up having to apologize. Again, theres not any clarity on what happened you know, in this matter and certainly theres not niany cohesion to wt the policy is towards russia. I suspect the president will be b asked about this tomorrow when he has a press conference at maralago with abe. Certainly will. Youre looking at Melania Trump and abe antd his wife getting ready to head into dinner tonight. Outfront tonight, steven moore b and former assistant secret y secretary, juliet. Did not write this moment basically. Theyre coming by tomorrow late latest. Larry kudlow says, she got ahead of herself. Nikki haley does not back down. Fires back. With all due respect, i dont get confused. Now you have kudlow apologizing to her. What the heck happened here . Well, the president clearly changed his mind or left the impression he was for the sanctions and she went out. Let me make this clear. A cabinet secretary worked for two of them, does not go on a sunday Morning National network show without properly vetting every you know, every the and i and sanction. It is, it is the most sort of overseeing process for a cabinet secretary because you want a singular voice because shes making policy. The other thing is is that the white house is clearly, i mean, i dont know which one to choose at this stage in terms of the sanctions themselves r. They nay eve . Compromised . Confused . At this stage, all we know is after the, after the, the missile hit, strikes in syria, we were told that there would be continuing sanctions by the military solution. That included going after rus a Russian Companies that were given arms and weaponry to the syrians. Thats what we assume. Its connected to the friday strikes. And i think thats an important point to make sheer. Were not talking about the russian economy where there might be more nuance. Heres what she said on sunday. She didnt misspeak. It was a very, very specific and formal thing. Heres nikki haley. You will see that russian sanctions will be coming down. Secretary mnuchin will be announcing those on monday if he hasnt already. That was pretty clear, steve. And it sure sounded like she was being thrown under the bus today when larry kudlow says she was gettinging ahead of herself. I dont think theres any question of what happened here. The president did change his mind with respect the russia sanctions. I think that was the policy. Saturday and sunday and im told that over the weekend, why did he change his mind . What im hearing is that donald trump believed russia stood down after the syria strike. They did not in any way, retaliate and trump was happy with that. Something it was trump took into consideration. It still may be there they be the sanctions. I think trump is still considering it. The good news sheer that my two favorite friends in, by the way, im in favor of russia sanctions. I hope trump decides, very much in the way he has with china. I mean, to describe it as standing down is kind of absurd on the face of it. Not going to you for saying that, backing al assad, denying assad had anything to do with these Chemical Attacks. I dont understand how thats backing down. If thats what the president is trying to say or why he would say that. I dont know what the backing down means. Does it mean that the russians didnt strike new york city . Is that his idea of backing down . The russians supported assad. Theyve been back iing him. They havent let county. They are doing all sorts of stuff in london. They are the department of Homeland Security announced today. Im sorry to interrupt, the president is speaking live. Here it is. Thank you, everybody. Thank you. Thank you. Make your way out. Obviously, were going to see if we can play that back and find out what he said. Thats the president there. Four of them at the table get ing ready to eat. You saw the president make a brief statement there. You know, steve, when were talking about Nick Kay Hakki ha. You dont metss with her. Shes one of the few who says what she thinks even when it comes against the president. Joe scarborough said she would beat donald trump if she ran for president in 2020. Heres what he said. I think nikki haley would beat donald trump. If she ran in 2020, this is not me making trump claim, its not. If she ran in 2020, she would have a good chance of being the first woman president of the United States. Thats not something he likes to hear, steve. I like her chances in 2024. You know. Look, donald trump obviously will be the nominee. Theres no one who could touch him. Hes so popular with conservatives and Republican Base of voters, but k loo, no question. Nikki haley is a rising tar. One of the reasons she was put in that position at the u. N. Is because shes establishing her Foreign Policy credentials. She was a very successful South Carolina governor. So i love the idea of nikki h l haley being the first republican, first woman president. An i think that may very well happen in 2024. Thank you both very much. And next, Michael Cohen skipping court to smoke cigars some buddies outside his manhattan hotel. Trz and guess what, theres a russian connection. And Stormy Daniels. Breaking news. The identity of the man. Stormy daniels release iing a sketch of the person she says threatened her in las vegas at a parking lot, telling her to quote leave trump alone and not talk about their alleged affair. Tonight, her Attorney Says he has a good idea of who this man is. She has reviewed a number of photographs over the last few week, couple of weeks. Actually. And weve narrowed it down. Hmm. Okay. He says the man likely worked h indirectly for Michael Cohen. Sara sidner is outfront. After more than a week, Stormy Daniels revealing this sketch of the man she says threatened her in 2011 to keep her from talking about her alleged affair with donald trump. The thing that i remember so clearly about him is that nothing was alarming about the way he looked at first. She appeared on the view, revealing more details about the incident she says happened in a las vegas parking lot while she was head today a mommy and me workout class. He had his hands in his pockets and looked at my daughter. He said its a beautiful little girl, be a shame if something happened to her mom. Forget about h story. Leave mr. Trump alone. But she didnt go to the police, saying she feared her husband would find out about the one night stand in 2006. First of all, i was scared. I would have had to tell an entire police department. Theyre public record. I had sex with donald trump then the world would have known and i was in the process of trying to quiet that or figure out what to do and honestly, i was just afraid and didnt want everyone to know. But she did tell her story that same year for a deal worth 15,000 to in touch magazine, which didnt publish the story until this past january. Reportedly because trumps lawyer threatened to sue. Daniels is talking open ly abou the alleged threat, insisting she can recall vividly what then man looked like. Enough to commission this sketch draw iing from her memory seven years prior. I knew i would be asked the question. I did tell quite a few people, actually. From back then and who . Family members and two friends and people that i worked with. Its obvious she didnt sit down with a sketch artist and fabricate this. Its a very detailed sketch. Pushed on how shes coming forward now, she sent a message to michael ko mcohen. Im tried of being threatened and intimidating me and saying youll ruin my life and say youll take my money and house. Im done. Im done being bullied. Michael cohen has denied ever threatening daniels. Not only has Michael Cohen denied every threatening her, he says hes ner emailed her, talked to her, email ed or texted her that he only talked to her attorney. Her then attorney was keith davidson. As for whether daniels believes that President Trump knew nothing as he claimed about the deal that was made with her, she simply doesnt believe a word of it. Thank you very much. Of course, part of the reason why theres such focus on this probe against cohen in the Southern District of new york. Outfront now, jerry nadler of new york. Congressman, team daniels says they have a good idea of who the man is who threatened daniels and that person worked directly for Michael Cohen hen or the trump organization. Put the honest question. Kudo you think daniels can remember his face . To identify him seven years after the incident and how important could this be . I dont know. People often do. They were shockeded tat time they revealed details seven or eight years later. Whats interesting to me about this besides the specific allegations is the president s reaction. The president went brallistic a the news of the search of mr. Cohens office. Hes acting every way as if he has a consciousness of guilt and as a direct result, hes threatening the special counsels investigation and we have to make sure that the world knows and the country knows that no man, not even the president , is above the law. And that investigation and Southern District continue uninterfered with. Thats why we have Bipartisan Legislation weve introduced to protect the special counsel against the president s interference. We have a lot of republican support for it now, and its outrageous to senator mcconnell that we wont said he wont bring him to the floor. That is outrageous because we have to show that the president is not above the law. And the president cannot be his own judge. He cannot decide what the red lib lip is. What is at stake here . Obviously, Michael Cohen, theyve worked together for more than a dozen years. Sure, cohen is at the center of the case, but hes going to be at the center of lot of other things. I want to play something her toerp said about Michael Cohen. I think hes going to be indicted in the next 90 dwas. Little to no question thats going to happen. Theyre going to potentially carry decades in a federal pen tinchry. I also predict within six months there after, maybe sooner, hes going to flip on the president. Indicted in 90 kaydays. Decades in a pen. Hes been pretty accurate in what hes said and i dont know whats going to happen there. But what i do know is that the process has to play itself out. Justice has to play itself out. Both in the Southern District and in the special counsels office and we have to protect the investigation against interference by the president or anyone on his behalf. I dont know if you heard the reporting, but pamela brown is reporting tonight the president is quote, apoplectic about the investigation. Hes fixuated on it. He doesnt trust the fbi to separate whats privileged and what isnt. Do you think theres something specifically he is afraid about or is it just on principle in general . Well, i think its obvious hes afraid of something or some things. Hes reacting that way as i said before. Hes reacting as if he has a consciousness of guilty of something. What they may be, we dont know, but well find out, but hes upset in a manner that he wouldnt be if he thought everything was fine and that the investigations werent going to find anything incriminating about him. Thank you. Thank you. And next, Michael Cohen skipping a quarter appearance and choosing instead to hang out with some of these guys including this one. The first hlady was being cared for at her home in houston. According to the bush family office, she had been suffering for some time. She had been in and out of the hospital battling with chronic pulmonary disease and heart failure. The first lady and her husband had been married for 73 years. Cnn special correspondent joins me live on the phone. Jamie, were going to be able to remember more of barbara bush here in these next few moments. You had the chance the speak to her many, many times. This was a moment she had chosen to have happen this way. She wanted to be b at home. Thats actually true. Many people were would remember her husband was struggling with his health because of park parkinsons, but not too many people knew for the past two years, she struggled with copd and with congestive heart failure, then this past weekend, she had been in the hospital multiple times, but she decided she did not want to go back in. She was at peace and she was going to do this on her terms in the very elegant and forceful way that barbara bush would, so the family made the announcement and i am told that she was at home. Her husband with with her. Her family had been in and out visiting. But that this morning, she really started to fade and that she went into a coma early this morning and that they knew the end was coming this evening. Of course, that end has come. They have announced that barbara bush has passed. Jamie, stay with me. I want to give even a chance to remember her right now and wolf blitzer has taken a look back at Barbara Bushs life. America loves barbara bush. Barbara bush was the woman behind two u. S. President s. The wife of one. The mother of another. Barbara pierce was born in queens, new ork, onjune 8th, june 25th. At a country club dance, she met a young man who would change her life. George Herbert Walker bush. I was square through high school. Tried to do the best i could. I was, i married the first man i ever kissed. You talk about a bore. I am the worlds worst. George bush focused on building an oil business. Barbara bush focused on building a family. George bush eventually entered a life of public service. And while barbaras candor might not have made a good match for his job as krrk ia director. Thats because i cant keep a secret. Her charm was a definite asset to her husbands political career. Find the joy in life because as ferri saidferris said on his life moves pretty fast and if you dont stop and look around once in a while, youre going to miss it. George was elected in 1980 as reagans vice president. Eight years later, he sat in the oval office. Barbara bush loved living in the white house. Keeping die raries of her time there and using them to help write her memoirs. She knew well her vision of a first ladys role. I think the the person who has the courage to run for the office is the one you should hear. Not the wife or the husband. Having said that, of course i told george how i felt. For george and barbara, their more than 60 years together included decades of devotion. This letter to her written by george while he was serving in world war ii. I love you, precious, with all my heart and to know you love me means my life. Houf often ive thought about the immeasurable joy. How lucky our children will be to have a mother like you. Two of those children, george w. And jeb, would solidify the bush political dynasty as president and florida governor, but in a surprising comment in 2013, as talk of a president ial run by jeb swirled, the matriarch told the today show, there should be a limit on the familys white house claim. There are other people out there that are very qualified and weve had enough bushs. But after jepb decided to ru, she fully backed him and hit the trail. These decent and honest, hes everything we need in a president. In or out of politics, the legacy barbara bush nurtured will live on through her family, children and grandchildren. I know that im the worlds luckiest woman. I think if i sort of put it in a nutshell, these are the things that are important to me. Faith. Family. And friends. Author first women kate brower joins me on the phone. Jeff is with me along with mark preston and jamie is back. Kate, you had a chance to speak to barbara bush. Obviously you have covered the first ladies. And she was a very vibrant and very vocal, very strong first lady. She was. I think she was one of the happiest first ladies and i talked to her about the residence staff actually at the white house. The butlers and maids and they all said that barbara bush was their favorite first lady to serve. She was like a grandmother to the staff. Very sweet, very funny. She had a great sense of humor. Had a fighting wit and she was really beloved. Its very sad because she was the matriarch of the republican party, not just the bush, sprawling bush family. And jeff, she was even as she was battling this illness, which of course as jamie points out, we were not as well as aware of. Everyone was aware of george and his suffering, but not as much about her. She even manageded as you were covering this election to get out on the trail for jeb. She did and that is something that i mean, boy, she is someone who you know, if america had a royal family system, she would be the queen mom of american politics certainly and american life. I remember when she was campaigning for george w. Bush in those early tas when he was running for governor of texas, then for president. She did not think that son would become president. She thought jeb bush, who she regarded as perhaps the smarter of the two sons, would be president. But boy, was she proud of president bush, the son, certainly proud of the florida governor, jeb bush, but as wolf was saying in the obituary there, the story of her life, did not think it was a moment for more bushs in politics. She was very against the jeb bush run. We know she had a view of this president you know, that was not necessarily positive. She kept that to herself in her later year, but she kept active and engaged in politics and we are told there will be a statement coming shortly from the white house on the passing of main strers. Bush. And mark, she had spoken, i think in ways that capturedal out all of us. Some of the types she spoke about her unique position as being the wife of a president and also of course t mother of a president. Here she is with larry king in 2005. I want to play it. S. What is it like, to be the mother of a president . Its worry some because you were about the responsibility. And having said that, it is not very much different from the other children. We were in washington last week and i got there before george and laura was overseas. And it touched me, the president came out and met me at the door. I would feel the same way, came out of the building. It is not that much different, do you think . Do he call home . Lots. Calls mom . Calls mom and dad to see how we are feeling, is it cold up there. Or tells us what he is going to do.
