The new phase of the rocks, and admission to congress, saying americans could join the ground war against isis. It could be part of that particular mission to provide close combat advising or accompanying for that mission. Keep in mind president obama has insisted there will be no u. S. Boots on the ground so dempseys admission made them go into major damage control mode. He said he felt the strategy as it was being proposed and executed was failing that he would not fail to change his advice to the commanderinchief. And barbara star is out front. The troops on the ground is an issue for the American Public and the president. The president has described a mission as destroyed isis and again weve been told Ground Troops are required and will they be american . Is it possible . I think what general dempsey did today is open the door to possible groups on the ground but in a narrow role in his mind to help call in air strikes and to be advisers on the ground in the front lines for possible iraqi forces but not to engage in combat themselves. For many people this is a distinction without a different if you are on the front lines doing those jobs and bullets are coming your way, it is pretty darn near combat no matter what you call it. So there is a word game of semantics going around washington all day forcing general dempseys office put out a statement again clarifying what he said but not making any substantive changes from his testimony today. One of the things that he did say that i thought was so interesting, yes, they might have to use troops in these two manners, calling out air strikes, but he said president obama told him dempsey, come back to me if your advice changes, come back to me on a case by case basis. President obama perhaps opening the door to considering the use of Ground Forces in some fashion. Erin. It seems like what you are saying, barbara, at the moment he meant what he said to the nation when he was categorical about the issue. But if they say they need Ground Troops, he is saying to them he would consider it. He wants to hear general dempseys best military advice, all of the commanders advice on what it will take to get the job done to degrade and destroy isis. And most people, including top military commanders, say air strikes will not be enough. It will take some kind of ground capability and exactly what you said a minute ago. Will it be the u. S. Or other coalition countries. And so far none have stepped forward. Thanks to you barbara store. Joining me now, British Ambassador to the United States. Thank you for taking the time to be with us. So far you have been supplying humanitarian aid and coordinating with the u. N. To battle isis and David Cameron said this is not about british troops on the ground which sounds like barack obama. But then who should put boots on the ground . I think at the moment what were looking for is a strong response from the regional members of the coolation which secretary kerry and others are putting together and of course were part of that coalition, but we have done a great number of things already. My Prime Minister made clear after the last brutal beheading of david haines that we could take whatever steps are necessary to counter the threat of isis so well see where we go. But clearly, were not in the business of putting troops on the ground. Prime minister cam ran cameron has vowed to hunt those down for haines and he will bring them to justice no matter how long it takes. You said no matter what it takes but then said were not in the business of Ground Troops. So is there anything off the table in the hunt for the killer of david haines . What were doing in the case of the killer of david haines and the other beheaders, if it is indeed the same person, we are putting a lot of source into this. We will hunt down those responsible and bring justice. But i cant bring you anything more. When the british resources have something to say, you will hear it. And a few weeks ago you were here and close to identifying the terrorist in the video. Do you know who he is yet . We cant comment on the details at the moment. And as i said, when we have something to say, well say it. So it has been a month since the beheading, james foley, the american. When we compare the video of david haines to those two videos, one thing we saw in the david haines video was less geographical video. It is just sand and sky, there wasnt a village in the background. Is there a chance that you never find the executioner, even if, indeed, as you indicate, it could be the same person. Erin, i didnt study the videos. I heard about them but i chose not to look at the horrible pictures. But we are putting effort into identifying the people involved and we know there are several involved. We know we have several hundred british subjects and weve been asked to hunt them down and bring them to justice. And the other story which is hugely significant for britain and for frankly the entire world when you think about what this could mean, the independence vote in scotland. And i was up in sky. The older people want to stay in the u. K. And the youngers said no. Here is what they said at the pub. Scotland will not do well as an independent country. Are you saying yes or no. I would say yes. Are they crazy, ambassador . Im going to disappoint you, the reality is just a few days before a referendum, people like me that are Civil Services cant enter the debate. I know what people say and i know there is a referendum in my country that is coming up and it is up to the scotts to decide the future they want. You would have seen that all of the political leaders of the United Kingdom have been up in scotland the last few days plaguing making the case. Im not able to comment on what individuals think or dont think or should think or shouldnt think. The importance though cannot be overstated in a sense. I mean britain could lose land mass and oil and port subs and i saw one analysis that said that goes away, they can lose their seat on the council if scotland were to go away. This would dramatically change your job, that all of a sudden britain would be less powerful . There are very big implications. You are right. This vote or referendum will be on enormous importance. Im not sure the British Government is looking to security seat on the security its seat on the security council. Well see what the vote is and then on friday morning looking toward the feature. Ambassador, thank you very much. Thank you for having me. A man kidnapped with steven so the love. Before he was beheaded, he speaks out. The u. S. Government never asked to talk to him. And militants urging Young Americans to jihad, urging them to travel as tourists. Check this up. You dont have to have a dime in your pocket. I will set you up with everything. Ill have people pick you up and ill have a place for you. Ill even have a wife waiting for you. And could ray rice be playing this season . You cant get any thbetter than that. Trains. Siemens trains are not your grandparents technology. Theyre something thats gonna change the cities we live in today. I find it so fascinating how many people ride this and go to work every single day. Im one of the lucky guys. I get to play with trains. People say, wow, we still build that in the United States . And we say, yeah, we do abe get in punch it let quicken loans help you save your money. With a mortgage thats engineered to amaze braking news tonight. The man kidnapped by isis with steven sotd love is so the love is breaking his silence. He is telling us what happened the day he was captured by a masked gunman. He remembers the last time he saw steven so the love. This is a report you will only see here. As he wanders through istanbul, his mind floats back to the friend he could not save. Abu back was a producer or fixer for u. S. Journalist steven sotloff. They were kidnapped inside of syria by gunman in august 2013. Sotloff never made it out alive. I was very angry at first. Very, very angry. After that, i calmed down and i was very so sorry. I tried to do my best to help him. My feeling, so sad. Like i lost one brother. He told cnn he first met sotloff in 2012. He had hired him for a planned three day trip into syria. He a gift for him when he picked him up at the turkey border on august 4th, 2013. He gave me a small gift of a camera and i say to him, thank you. When i turn my face to the way in the front of me, they were right on the road and they kidnapped us. They were just 20 minutes into the drive to alepo. Three cars were parked by the highway and 15 gunman armed with assault rifles and leapt out as they approached. I said who are you . He said they were ordered to cover their eyes. They would hit him with the gun and say close your face. But in arabic. I said, steve, close your eyes or they will hit you. They hit me and say shut up. Dont talk english. And traveling, on this trip, like those in the past, he took trusted relatives and guns for protection. I have security for guns from my family and i say to them, i have papers from ab del mar heed. He spent a few months fighting in the brigade of a moderate islam faction. They were taken to a Textile Factory on the outskirts of alepo. They took us inside of building and put everybody in a room alone. After that, i hear one, he talked to steve and say talk to him give me your passport. He said to him, passport. And steve give him the passport, for telephone, i dont know. And then after that, i didnt hear the voice of steve. He and his brother and cousins were held for 15 days. He did not see or hear any american or british jihadists. Do you know who is us . I told them, i think you are isis. They said, yes, you are in Islamic State of [ inaudible ]. Should we killing because you are a spy because you work with america, with cia and fbi. We will leave you now because you have these papers and you can go now. But if you if we here work with journalists again, we will kill you for sure. Months after his release he heard the journalist was moved from the Textile Factory to an Industrial Complex outside of alpo and then to a strong hold of raqqa. He worked with schools of other journalists before sotloff. They believe he was trustworthy and believes a border guard tipped off isis. They waited for me exactly. Because when they saw my car, when they saw my car come, they lead the car. After that, he said, he was never interviewed by u. S. Officials or investigators. No, from the government of america, didnt anyone any officer, didnt contact me and ask me about that, anything about how he was kidnapped or try to take any information about my kidnappers. The rebel fighter turned fixer learned of sotloffs execution posted online september 2nd. The killer is a killer. But i send a message to the world, to say it is not really true. They are a liar. And i say that to everybody, to all of the people. Isis, they are not muslims. They are enemies. Away from syrias battlefield, he has found safe haven for now in turkey. But he says he can never escape the memory of a journalist who was his friend. Carl, that is a riveting story and hearing him talk about his friend and what he saw, what shocks me is that the americans may not have interviewed him. He he was with sotloff when he was kidnapped. He told you, 15 gunman, they were caught by the road and then moved to a Textile Factory and then they moved to raqqa where there was the executions. He was never interviewed by a u. S. Official. How is that possible, carl . It is incredible. It seems to be the basic Building Block to any investigation that you would talk to eyewitnesses that saw it or were somehow involved and i believe this man, as hes been telling us today, could have given the fbi or any other security agencies valuable information on how they were taken, who took them, where they were taken to, the kind of conditions they were being held in, at a time when that information could still have been useful to try to help get them out. Now of course these revelations come at a time when we know that steven so the lotloffs and jam foleys family didnt agree with the way they handled their sonsment and today we heard from the fbi saying they will not disclose investigative details and that is one more way along with the media blackout that surrounded this case of closing us down, of ensuring they are not being held publicly accountable for their actions and efforts in this case, erin. Certainly not being held publicly accountable. Until reporting like that incredible reporting that youve done here, carl. And you also say that he says that when they were kidnapped, there were no american or british terrorists, at least he said, at that time. Obviously the voice in the execution video has everyone said that is a british accent, perhaps from south london. What did he have to say about that . Yeah, what he said was that the 15 gunman who kidnapped them in the first place were dressed in black. They were also masked, heavily armed. He believes that all of those 15 were syrians because of their accents. He said when they were taken to the Textile Factory that served as the temporary jail, there he was aware that the jailers were different origins, some were libby ands and some were cherissy ands and he was not aware of any jihadis at that jail at that time. Carl, thank you very much. And also breaking tonight, we have obtained tapes of american terrorists recruiting friends in the United States to join terror groups like isis. We hear the voice of a boston man whose friend is now wanting by the fbi tor ties to isis. He is lured by a fellow american tofy jihad overseas. They promise him a good life and everything taken care of and offer a wife. And when you hear the conversations, you will be amazed at how casual they are. How they sound so much like conversations you may hear every day and that is what is so shocking. Deborah fayerick is out front with the audio. When it comes to jihad, one in boston and one in somalia was just as important as it was when it was recorded. Come with amed, come. He was referred to him as brother or ephi. Im telling you, this is the life. There is no other life except. It is 100 . It is more than you think it is. I just want to be somewhere where i can pray five times a day. Pray five days a day. Do you know where i am, you cant even smoke cigarettes. It is illegal. They reel in the potential recruit. Does this sound like the same kind of message that are put out by recruiters today. This is the exactly the same isis recruiters are putting out today. You have to join, it is your religious duty. The friend turned recruiter makes it clear everything will be arranged once he lands. Check this out. Come here. You dont have to have a dime in your pocket. I will set you up with everything. Ill have people pick you up and a place for you to stay and a wife waiting for you. That is what i want. That is what im waiting for. He referred back to jihad and refers to fighting as making sandwiches. Once you see the brothers, you wont want to get married. Youll want to make lunch and hang out owl day with us. First travel to due buy and meet dubai and then get a flight. Once you get to dubai arrange it from there. And well set you up with some people that you have a visa. There is really no such thing as a visa. The recruiter is being coerced by a man from alabama. What was that omar . Youre coming as a tourist, so bring tourist clothes and money to buy stuff. He is a key prop gandist for the somali terror group. He said you should make your intention now and know that you get your ajr even if you were to die today. The reality is this brutal civil war where you have different islamist factions killing each other and they become disillusioned. In the end, the recruiter returns to the United States and testified against mahana and then turned his life around. Chilling audio tape. Up next, breaking news, a manhunt under way for a suspect wanted in the killing of a Pennsylvania State trooper. And ray rice, his punishment equal to double punishment, he says. And ebola, is it really as much of a threat as isis. A widescreen multimedia center, and a headup display for enhanced driver focus. He is 31yearold eric matthew freen on the run. He ambushed a Police Barracks and killed a state trooper and injuring another one. He has survivalist skills and have made statements about wanting to kill Law Enforcement officials and commit mass murder. Jason, what he has threatened to do and already done, they are on this manhunt, what do you know now . Well police out here are saying that this is a man who had a grudge against Law Enforcement and he took his anger out against these two state troopers. One identified as byron dixon, the young man that was killed. Another alex douglas, he was badly injured during the shooting. We are told he came out of surgery on monday and he is doing better. And now the manhunt is on for eric freen. There is Something Interesting about what investigators were able to find. They found his jeep and some chilling things they found inside, camouflage face paint, military gear and spent casings. And what they found at his home where he lived with his mother and father. His father said two guns were missing, an ak47 and a rifle. And what they found inside of his bedroom, a book entitled Sniper Training and employment. His father telling police that his son very well trained and in fact, was in the gun club when he was in high school. He said in describing his son, when his son fires, quote, he never misses. So you can imagine while there is a great deal of concern, who has survivalist skills and is considered armed and dangerous is somewhere in this wooded area. Erin. Thank you very much. Jason carol in that urge ept situation going on in pennsylvania. Tonight the National Players Association Says it will appeal ray rices indefinite suspension by the nfl. When we spoke exclusively to the president of the association yesterday he told me the organization has an obligation to defend its members and he was clear that in his view rice has been disciplined multiple times by the nfl commissioner. He said that is a double jeopardy and therefore ray rice should be able to play again. The first was just a two game suspension. Why they feel there is a case against the league. Rice will focus on not punching his wife janay, but what happened at the atlanta casino. What happened was not consistent with what the video was. When we met with ray rice and his representatives, it was he was ambiguous about what happened. In the letter, goodell makes it clear, it wasnt what was on the elevator that forced his hand, it was his recount of the story that didnt match the video. They wrote, this is a starkly different sequence of events from what you and your representatives stated when we met on june 16. Ray rice is expected to argue that the threetime probowler told the truth all along and goodell upped the punishment when the second video called for an outcry. They say that they told goodell in that meeting that he punched or hit janay in the elevator. On the day ray rice was terminated from the havens, his coach mentioned that his star running back did not mislead him. Were you misled in any way and you stood up here and defended the guy and now you stand up here and make this decision. I dont want to get into all of that. I dont think it that way. Everything i said in terms of what i believe, i stand behind. One person definitely feeling misled and angry, rihanna who has her own history as a victim of Domestic Violence. A new glitzier version of her video run this town meant to play a starring role in all cbs thursday night openers was yanked this week. Today we took to twitter writing, cbs, you pulled my song last week and now you want to slide it back in this thursday. No. [ bleep ] you. You are sad for panelizing me for this. And cbs had planned to use rihannas video this week quickly responded and said the network will move in a different direction for a game opener. Now once that letter is received by the nfl from mr. Rice, it will kick off a process where we could see Roger Goodell himself testifying during hearings or discusses as they get to the bottom of whether or not ray rice will play again this season or play again ever. Another problem for the nfl, and heiser busch and heiser busch has spent 1. 2 billion said it is increasingly concerned with the problems the nfl is experiencing. Erin. Miguel, thank you. And i want to bring in a former nfl player eddie rivers and host of unguarded, rachel nichols. Reggie, let me start with you. Is there a chance he will play again this year . I think there is a good chance he will play again. I dont think he deserves to. But the way the nfl handled the case, it is not very thoughtful and they didnt have a policy. When they gave him the two game suspension it was just shooting from the hip. And then there is public outcry and then they say six games should have been the suspension and now another video comes out and now it is an indefinite suspension. I think they have mismanaged this to the point he may be able to come back. Whether he will play this year, im not sure if someone will take a chance on him this year. Maybe next year they might give him a chance, but this year they will stay away. So it has been seven days since Roger Goodell sat down and he hasnt spoken about the Domestic Violence cases since, should he be speaking from the heart about the situation. There are a lot of people that would like to hear from him. Especially since this Adrian Peterson has come to light. This is another domestic situation and now Radison Hotels dropped their sponsorship with the vikings and they dont want to be involved. And you now not only have and heiser busch but you have visa not satisfied and they are speaking and consumers are saying they need more from the league right now. The peterson case has caused people to be upset and weve seen the pictures of this fouryearold boy with open cuts and there was allegations from one of the mothers of the other children, they investigated and no charges were brought but the fact that there was an investigation got people concerned and not only did the groups weigh in, but the governor of minnesota and senator al franken from minnesota said we think the vikings should bench Adrian Peterson and they would like to hear from the league. And 1. 2 billion in advertising. When you have a company like that speak out, then the nfl has to listen. They may not care about the stuff going on on tv, but they care about anheuserbusch. We are not satisfied with the leagues handling of behaviors. We have shared our concerns and expectations with the league. What do you think the expectations are . Well i think there is a veiled threat there that i think Roger Goodell is in his last days. And heiser busch, and now more and more sponsors will speak up and now and heiser busch will not stop sponsoring the nfl. There is too much money there. But they will say, we want to make money, you want to make money, Roger Goodell, you have to get rid of him. I dont think we will see the end of Roger Goodell. Weve seen statement after statement for him from nfl owners just in the past few days. And and heiser busch may be 1. 5 million, through is other money, tv money. And heiser busch did not pull their sponsorship, they sent a strongly worded letter which is a lot different. I think this will make owners listen because nothing talks like money. I do not see a direct correlation between this statement and Roger Goodell walking out the door. But i do think the public voice has been heard here both in terms of the sponsors and in terms of the league. We saw teams deactivate players over the past weekend even after they first said they wouldnt so well have to see if it has an effect again this weekend. Thanks to all. 3000 american troops are headed right now to fight ebola. That is more than fighting isis. Is it americas biggest Security Threat right now. One person not surprised is someone who started paypal. His book hit shelves today. Let me start off with you on the space x situation. How big of a victory is this for that company . It is an incredible victory because they have finally gotten one of the large nasa contracts for man travel and it is coming back to the u. S. From russia. So it is both a great day for the United States but also a very important day for space x. So it is a taxi to and from the International Space station and now this is in a private Company Hands are we able to dream bigger . Mars and stuff like that. They are inno vative in rockets. It seems like it cost more and more to buy a share when it is set to debut this friday. Now up to 66 a share. You are the guy to get into something years before, but what do you think about alibaba . Would you buy it at 66 a share . I would not. But it will go up. They will price it to get some sort of a pop. I do think the chinese internet has been largely off limbs to limits to western investors. It is fire walled off. If you look at a company like facebook or google, places like saudi arabia or iran are way more tolerant than china. You can get on facebook in saudi arabia that is true. And cannot in china. So china is in this very weird category of its own. Alibaba is this protected chinese company. It will do well. But it is fundamentally a political entity. But you believe in the big picture. But they price it to get a pop. But you wont get a huge return on that . Youll get a pop and do well if you tip to stay in the good graces of the Chinese Government but it is a political investment. So as someone with millions of dollars and cofounded paypal, facebook, where are you putting money right now . Well im continuing to invest very heavily in the next generation of technology companies. Were big investors in b b. Brantly also met privately with president obama at the white house, a meeting that showed the world that it is safe to interact with ebola survivors. President obama announced he is sending 3,000 american troops to the hot zone, more than currently deployed to fight isis. U. S.
