Final friday of the race, four days to go. Here is the latest for you. Donald trump overnight takes a swipe at Hillary Clinton, asking veterans to imagine her as commanderinchief. Hillary clinton slams donald trump, accusing him of dog whistle politics. This as both candidates find themselves also in two of the same states today, pennsylvania and ohio. This morning counting the 270 is hard, not just because it is a big number and you dont have enough fingers but because adding up the states on the electoral map to get to 270 is getting more complicated for each candidate. For those of you unfamiliar with the glorious ways of our glorious republican, you need 270 electoral votes to win the election. Hillary clinton wants New Hampshire to be part of her equation. Suddenly polls show a tie there. In georgia theres a new poll there that has donald trump ahead by just one point. He has no chance without georgia. The bottom line here, folks, is it is close. Joining us this morning, eugene scott. Good morning. It is close, eugene. Reporter it is close. This georgia poll so interesting to me. A lot of people are talking about cultural divides. One of the new cultural divides is urban versus rural. While georgia may have been red primarily in the rural areas, atlanta is very blue. So what were going to see is purple. I think thats what were seeing. New hampshire, trump and clinton tied in the latest polls. Three weeks ago clinton was ahead by three points. What happened here . What was happening three weeks ago, donald trump was getting a lot of heat because of Sexual Misconduct allegations and were not talking about that as much anymore. People who were finding him problematic three weeks ago arent focused on that anymore and now are focused on Hillary Clinton. A couple of things i heard from both parties on both states, either camp thinks georgia will vote democratic in the end, but it shows the demographic race and that the race is close. If someone from team clinton would be going to georgia in the last few days. New hampshire is swingingest of swing states and known to be reactive of news of day, it goes back and forth, back and forth. The other thing for New Hampshire is theres no early voting. So we dont know. They cant pack the ballot box, which is why each campaign will be going there a lot. The swingingest of states,ic like that. All of this is within the margin of error. We think someone is in the lead, but technically they really arent. It is funny math that gets lost. Every moment, every minute. People always talk about florida in 2000, moving the election to george w. Bush and it did in the end, but you win New Hampshire but not much. Had he not won New Hampshire he wouldnt have won the election. Bosch campaigned there and gore didnt. Thank you so much. Hillary clinton hits three battleground states in less than eight hours today. Starts with a noon time rally in pittsburgh, then on to detroit and cleveland. Thursday she was showing up support in North Carolina, rallying the faithful alongside bernie sanders, targeting donald trump and courting africanamerican voters. Thats why the Clinton Campaign wants to cuts him off in the tar heel state. The key to a Democratic Victory here is the africanamerican vote. It wasnt donald trump who said it, it was his wife melania in her first big speech since the convention. I really dont have a great answer for you because youre right. You know, sure, social media bullying is a serious issue, and it is absolutely one that a first lady could want to take on, and she spoke, you know, adults can take some barbs but teens cant if you listen to the substance of her words. So you understand the point she was trying to make, but if you are talking about a political calculus here, if you are a Campaign Manager youre trying to play, as we call it, airfree ball in the last few days. I dont know why you would put someone running to be the first lady up on stage to call attention to the very issue that has plagued her husband possibly the most since the beginning, which is him firing off on social media unchecked. So it is really sort of a stunning contrast you would want to put out there at this very moment. You know ill try to answer. I dont think her audience was us. Her audience wasnt journalists, not people who were going to vote for clinton next week because those people made up their minds. I think her audience was donald Trump Supporters who feel bullied on social media. If you look at our facebook pages, everybody is fighting online. We feel like were victims of the other side bullying. I wonder if that was the intended audience. Also, what else was she going to say. There were anecdotes about her husband, a couple of times she has spoken i have thought, are they is there going to be an anecdote, something that will reveal something about the personal donald trump and i didnt hear it yesterday either. Let me ask you about this. Donald trump last night in selma, North Carolina has veterans behind him and he talks about Hillary Clinton as the boss of these veterans, potential boss of these veterans. Im wondering if people heard this differently along gender lines. Im interested to hear wauhat y guys heard in the statement. Listen. You know, when i look at these great admirals and these great generals and these great medal of honor recipients behind me, to think of her being their boss . I dont think so. But, you know, donald trump should also know by now that he has made a reputation for himself as the king of insinuation and inknew endoe all the way along. If hes not going to be precise with his words there will be people who take it the wrong way. And when he has such a problem with women, you do question whether this was perhaps the right phrasing, but i also could see many of his supporters being frus tralted and saying, this was not an overt sexist attack. What is he supposed to call her. Youre just being politically correct. Cnn has great reporting about how many veterans are enthusiastic about voting for trump, they are embracing the trump candidacy. On the other hand, there have been studies as report this week about how sexism, frustration about feminism, feelings about the gender divide are a predictor of enthusiasm and predictor of support for Donald Trumps candidacy. If you answer questions that might have sexist views you are more likely to support donald trump in this race. Theres something to the idea theres a gender divide, a gender factor in this case, and more menace we kn as we know fr support trump. Looking like theyre tied in the polls. Thats a shift from the last few weeks. Reporter very much so. We say a few times the person getting the most attention in the news cycle is probably the person that we need to have voters focus on right now. And the reality is that donald trump is getting a lot of the attention about three weeks ago, and right now Hillary Clinton is getting most attention. Whoever has the attention, it is always negative, right . Of. Reporter it is negative. Whoever is getting the attention, that is negative for the polls. Which, by the way, is unusual in this campaign cycle. Reporter thats unique. Usually if were focused on someone, were not automatically talking poorly about them, but this election that seems to be the case. New hampshire seems to swing with the national tide, back and forth. Very responsible Political Consultants said to the news. To the news. It is a tight race there, and every campaign is going there in the coming days. Talk about georgia. Georgia voted for bill clinton once in 1992, but it is a red state. Demographically speaking there have been shifts there. But this number, donald trump up by just a point on the friday before election day . Yeah, there have been some significant demographic shifts in georgia. Yes, historically it goes red, but there are a lot of black voters, a lot of college students, a lot of women, especially in the urban cores like atlanta, and things are not as big in trumps favor as historically has been the case for republican candidates. And he needs georgia to win the white house. Oh, yes. And a bunch of other states. But it is interesting, no one is going to georgia, at least we know of in the next three days. I dont think, you know, theyre second or third level surrogates going to georgia over the next days. That indicates maybe the campaigns dont see it in playwright now. I think hell get georgia. On the latter point, paying attention to the polls, the Demographic Data in the polls this year have been stunning. Donald trump is winning with white men, and thats about it. So for Hillary Clinton, the key to her winning this election is going to be mobilizing minorities and women who perhaps rightfully feel very slighted by the Campaign Donald trump has run, if not threatened. So animating that base is going to be the thing that puts her over the top, so it is not surprising that thats the well shes returning to right now. And theres a connection between what we heard from Hillary Clinton last night and president obamas message about concerns about voter suppression, concerns about intimidation tactics, about people being left off the rolls, largely minority figures in places like North Carolina left off the rolls.
