You have a large group of people within the president s inner circle, saying they were concerned about his attacks on biden in foreign policy, in his relations with ukraine. It will be more difficult for republicans and the defenders of the white house, to defend the president on the substance of what the president did because now, were hearing from people close to the president , they were not onboard with what the president was doing. Will they try to attack him as an antitrumper . Time will tell. Nancy pelosi had scheduled a vote for later this week, something the republicans were calling for. How will that change the procedure and strike at the argument of the republicans that theyre doing this behind closed doors and hiding it from the American People . What weve seen thus far over the past several weeks is the republicans are focused on process. Theyre defending the president saying the process is unfair. Not allowing for due process. Theyre doing it behind closed doors. They havent had a vote. Now, nancy pelosi and the democrats will put this up for a vote. You could argue that nancy pelosi has neutralized those concerns or complaints from the republicans about all this being behind closed doors. Democrats cant focus on trying to flip the supporters of the president and the republican party, but theyre trying to make it more difficult for some of the swing voters, some of the people facing tough reelections in the senate, that have to be more bipartisan and more openminded. People like colorado senator, cory gardner, not as staunchly in defense of the president , those are the people that will be facing the pressure to look at the facts of the case and decide if its in their interest to support the president 100 or to be more openminded to have a bipartisan vote on impeachment. Thats where democrats are focusing now, trying to put pressure on a few republicans. I dont think anyone in this process thinks that 20 republicans are going to break ranks with the president and lead to the ouster of this president. Putting pressure on a few of them that face tough reelections is the top goal of republicans at this point. I cant see two, can you . Right now, not. People like susan collins, and cory gardner, and lisa murkowski, who have shown some level of independence in the past, and mitt romney, to say what the president did was wrong, even if they dont say it is impeachable.
