Important to point out, she was the top ranking deputy to john bolton, the security adviser, who had her full support. She was a key part of his team here at the white house. This is a big departure. Certainly one, although it took the white house 24 hours to acknowledge she was going to leave. It is unthinkable anything else would happen. That is the president ignoring the wishes of the first lady. Many wonder why she didnt tell the president privately. Sources say she had done that and there was no action taken. That is why she called for the public firing. The president saying he will make a decision soon on the Homeland Security secretary and key adviser we are looking for is chief of staff john kelly. Will he leave as well . Questions and anticipation is certainly swirling. It is one sign the president is going to make good on his pledge to have a new team around him in some respects as he heads into the second two years of his first term in office. Dave and christine. Jeff zeleny, thank you. Retiring senator jeff flake threatening to do what he can do to block the president ial nominees unless Bipartisan Legislation protecting Robert Mueller gets a floor vote. Retiring jeff flake will not vote yes, unless the protections of Robert Mueller proceed. There was a floor vote that was blocked that flake and chris coons is pushing. Flake says legislation is necessary after the president fired Jeff Sessions and named Matt Whitaker as acting attorney general. Whitaker has been openly critical of the mueller probe. With the firing of the attorney general and in my view, the improper installation of the acting attorney general, who has not been subject to confirmation by this body, the president now has the investigation in his sights and we all know it. Other Senate Republicans say the measure is not needed because the president is not about to fire mueller. Democrats gaining two more seats in the house of representatives as races in california and new jersey are called. That brings democrats total pick ups in the house to 32 with eight races still to be called. Democrats poised to hold 227 seats in the new congress. There is a new wrinkle in Nancy Pelosis bid to get the gavel for the house speaker. 17 democrats signed a letter saying they will not vote for pelosi on the house floor. Five additional democrats pledging not to support pelosi. Although they have not signed the letter. If they all stick to their word, she may not have the votes for speaker. Pelosi and her allies are confident saying she will call critics bluffs. No House Democrat has come forward to run against her. Ohio representatives both tell cnn they are not ruling out a bid. President trump looking for support for a bipartisan Prison Reform bill. Something bipartisan in d. C. Its called the first step act. It shortens mandatory minimums for firearm sentences. Eliminates the stacking provisions that result in lengthy consecutive sentences and reduces the number of nonviolent drug offenders serving mandatory minimum sentences. Palm beach county is standing out as the one county across florida which says they are not sure they will make it. They have been plagued by old equipment which is overheating and not able to take the pace like the other equipment here in broward county. That slowed the process for them. The supervisor of elections said on wednesday she was in prayer mode that they make the deadline. Democrats have a pending lawsuit to lift all deadlines for the recount to make sure everyone gets those numbers in. The law currently says that if they dont meet the deadline that the election day numbers, unofficial numbers they first submitted last saturday will stand.
