Today. If you havent already. Millions have already. It is tuesday november 6. Election day. 3 00 a. M. In the east. Midterm elections today across the United States. The polls open along most of the east coast in three hours. Monday President Trump campaigned for Senate Candidate in ohio. Indiana and missouri. The final pitch to his base. A mix tape. Of his greatest hits. The keys you have to go vote. In a sense i am on the ticket. I shouldnt say this. I want to unite. I want to unite eventually. But the fact is were driving them crazy. They dont know what to do. Theyre going loco. Democrats are inviting caravan after caravan. Isnt that nice. Of illegal aliens. To flood the country and overwhelm the communities. The radical democrats take power. They will take a wrecking ball to the economy. And to the future of the country. If you dont want to be saying the words speaker of the house pelosi. The Midterm Elections used to be boring. Didnt they . Do you remember what they were . People say midterms they say what is that . Its the hottest thing now. The border has been a key part of the midterm pitch for weeks. Closing out the campaign. That featured an upbeat message on the economy. And featured christine. Republican Officials Say the president insisted on a hard line antiimmigration message to fire up the base. That ad. Racist in tone and subject matter. Rejected by cnn. And even fox news. Pulled it. Before the net works biggest star appeared on stage at president s rally in missouri. Something sean hannity said he wouldnt do. He talk about migrants and caravan is weighing on the gop. A Top Senate Republican aid says there are many in the party who would prefer to window the midterps on the economy. Without dehumanizing and fear mongering. He signed an oped for fox news. That says this. Whether to build on the extraordinary prosperity. The republican policies have delivered for the nation. Whether to allow democrats to take control and take the giant wrecking ball to your economy and your future. The most noteworthy thing the president said monday was not on stage. An interview with cnn. In washington. He said he may have one regret. Is there anything as you look back at the first almost two years that you regret. That you wish you could take back and redo . Theres certain things. I would say tone. I would like to have a much softer tone. I feel to a certain extent i have no choice. But maybe i do. And maybe i could have been softer from the standpoint. Rare acknowledgment there. Last month the president said he would not be to blame if republicans lose the house. Yesterday had said hes ready to own whatever happens. Its really about the candidate. But if they want to give me the credit or liability. I will take it. Warned against illegal voting. Without any evidence. Of any significant threat. Meantime the u. S. Intelligence committee is in a ready, set, go posture. Prepared to protect voting systems against an actual threat. And facebook said it has taken down dozens of pages acting on a tip from Law EnforcementOnline Activity that maybe linked to foreign entities sfwl live in washington. Thank you for not sleeping. We appreciate you being here on election day. Happy to get on the with the voting. What do you is the Biggest Issue . As we aprooif on election day. I think there are just so many interesting race i across the country. Two of them kentucky. New york. And some of the races that white house and republicans will be watching. Lt most closely the two races where the approximate won by double digits in 2016. Its trump country. But any measure. But republican candidates are really struggling. Its not just in the sub burr ban democrats. Like virginia and california. Its in trump country. So that shows you how exposed republicans are across the country. And republicans exposure runs the gam et from districts that clinton carried in 2016. To districts President Trump carried by 16 points or more. That Kentucky District particular interest. You have the type of candidate the democrats think will run well given her military brak ground in the environment. And east coast poll that we should get a good indication early on about where this is. The Arizona Senate race. Some of the senate races will be interesting. Theres so much talk about the house and the house. The senate races are a really compelling. Thats right. Arizona is a really interesting race. For one theres been just a tremendous amount of spending in the race. Tremendous amount of attention. Of the polling is within the margin of error. It would go either way. Martha republicans is straight out of the central casting. Veteran and air force pilot. Sitting republican congresswoman. Someone that should be all accounts be running strongly for the republicans. But also attracted attention. And liberal background. In the state legture. She does have a moderate record as a congresswoman. Its a race that will decide the tilt of the senate. Because its one of the few pick up opportunities for democrats that is still looking potentially likely tonight. Because of course we have no idea what will happen. But arizona for democrats is perhaps a bright spot in the senate. The closing messages a familiar one for the president. Particular focus on Border Security. With the new twist that this Border Security issue is one that plays well for women. The big concern is perhaps republicans in the tough battleground districts that educated women are going to break the other way. Heres what the president says about Border Security as related to women. Border security is also very much a womans issue. Women want security. They want financial security. They want security. Women want safe neighborhoods for their families. Great schools for children. And they want violent predators like were talking about to be thrown in jail or thrown the hell out of the country. Looking at the numbers talking to people. Do you buy thats a women issue and will be today . Immigration is not helpful for the republicans everywhere. Certainly not in the districts and suburban virginia. And the district in california. There are cluster of republican seats where republicans hoped economic message might be more effective. Because those are certainly not trump districts. Those are districts where republicans were going to have a difficult time. The immigration message is a turn out message. Thats something that will be helpful perhaps for the senate races where the president has said hes focusing the attention. But we know trump has been warned by his aids and fellow republicans that perhaps focusing on the economy would have been a bert way to go. At the ends. To keep the races close. Where republicans are most in danger. That was the ace up his sleeve the whole time. Its interesting to watch him. He nitted this weekend its not exciting talking about the economy. He wanted to go after immigration. He was unhappy with the ad. That we showed you. And wanted to do a hard line immigration ad. One wonders how energized the base is here this morning. And how energized women are. In particular. Whether they will be the deciding factor. 35 million early votes cast. What do you make of the early voting. Massive numbers. It depends. State by state. Theres more engagement in the 2018 midterms than 2014. Both sides have pointed to early voting in certain races and said its good for us. For example in arizona. Theres a lot of republican earl sloiting so the mcsally team tried to hold that up. Other places democrats are saying our side cast more ballots. We wont know obviously until the votes get counted tonight. That shows you the energy and enthusiasm is up on both sides. To a remarkable degree for a Midterm Election. And both sides are claiming that is a good thing. The president is hoping this immigration message is not a persuasion message its a turn out message. And banking on that being the driving force. Conventional wisdom suggests republicans will do well in the senate. The numbers are in their favor. The house it looks like a win. A flip for the democrats. We shall see. Anything can happen. If they have a better than expected night. Democrats in the house. If the democrats have a better than expected nights. Democrats have a huge fund raising advantage for one. They have been able to out spend, out race republicans across the country. Republicans are just very over exposed in the obama years they won a will the of seats running on his unpopularity. And they are holding a lot of seats that are have traditionally been democratic that clinton carried in 2016. That are likely to flip. Back into democratic hands. Theres so many areas where theyre on defense. And democrats have sort of rode this wave of antitrump sentiment around the counted. People are dissatisfied with his tone. To capitalize on the unfortunate position republicans find themselves in. Well ask for republicans have a good night. Why is that. See you in 30 minutes. All right. In georgia the republican candidate for governor standing by his claim Democratic Party attempted to hack the state election system. Brian kemp who also over sees the election. As georgia secretary of state. Essentially turned to report of an alleged as a rule nervulnera. Stacey abrams calls it a witch hunt. Accusing kemp of abusing power. He says accusations of conflict of interest dont bother him. Ooip not worried about how it looks. Im doing my job. This is how we handle any investigation when this comes up. Harsher in the final hours. A call paid for by white supremacist. A crude impersonation of oprah. I see someone white women can be tricked into voting for. Especially the fat ones. And so i promise that every Single Person who votes for stacey abrams. Will get a new car. The actual oprah responded. Jesus dont like ugly. We know what to do about that. Vote. Tomorrow. Show up and show out. And vote. Note theres a Third Party Candidate in the governors race. There will be a run off if neither reaches 50 . In december. We night not be even close to being done with this one. Buckle up folks. The president may not want to talk about the economy. Its a strong suit. Mostly. What you need to know before you vote. Next. Before shipstation it was crazy. Its great when you see a hundred orders come in, a hundred orders come in, but then you realize ive got a hundred orders i have to ship out. Shipstation streamlined that wh the order data, the weights of , everything is seamlessly put into shipstation, so when we print the shipping ll everythings pretty much done. Its so much easier so now, were ready, bring on t. Shipstation. The number one ch of online sellers. Go to shipstation. Com tv and get two months free. Midterms ask money. The president may not think its exciting to talk about the u. S. Economy. But the fact is the economy is booming. Will that influence voters today . I have five charts to keep in mind. Unemployment. 3. 7 . A 49 year low. Jobless rate has been below 4 for months now. At the same time the economy added a quarter million jobs last quarter. 250,000 in october. That means the labor market is strong. And tight. Which means higher wages. Should mean higher wages. Wage increases have been slow. The missing link during the recovery until now. In october, wages grew 3. 1 . That is the strongest wage growth since april of 2009. Since the financial crisis. Good news for workers. Investors worry higher costs will cut into companies record setting profit. Dont feel too badly for wall street. Despite a rough october stocks are still up. More than 25 since the election. Up 25 solid gains. But a little context here. The s p 500. The recent rise is the tail end of a nine yearold bull market. Not all americans own stocks. But almost everyone drives a car. This is the economy indicator that matters. Gas prices are near a four year high. You can blame a volatile energy crisis. Blame higher prices for oil. For the higher price at the pump. Thats really largely due to the Oil Sanctions on iran. Those went into effect yesterday. And iran is the worlds fourth largest producer of oil. This number doesnt get enough attention. Look at this one last chart. The federal deficit. 779 billion this year. The highest in six years. Typically deficits shrink during boom time. Thapgs to tax cuts and huge defense spendsing the u. S. Is spending so much more than it takes in. Were actually selling record amount of ious. Were borrowing money from the world to cover the shortfall. No sense that voters are concerned at all about deficit. Well see. If its played as giving tax breaks to big companies. Right . And rolling up a deficit to the American People have to pay for later. That could be something that plays. The fiscal Hawk Paul Ryan is exiting stage left. Thank you. Its all about turn out today. One major wild card. That is the weather folks. Could it keep some voters home . The stormy forecast. Is next. All right. Its election day. On top of Everything Else another huge election day variable. That is the weather. Which could effect turn out in several key states. Right now rain and storms in the foer cast from alabama. Through new england during voting hours. Meteorologist with the latest. A very busy tuesday here. When is comes to election day weather. Northern plains we have snow showers in the forecast. Northeast. Its about the Severe Weather extending south towards the southeast. Well start off around the northeast. This morning its across places such as ohio. Western pennsylvania and virginia. Michigan. New york state. Where the wet weather and the gusty winds are confined to. And the afternoon the evening hours will begin to expand into the i 95 new york city. Boston, washington. Down to the philly area. Seeing the stronger storms. Thats the best bet in the zone. For the strongest storms. They begin to push through. Notice this. When temperatures into the evening hours are around the mid60s in the heart of november. Thats when you know we have activity in the instability. To support the storms. And the south certainly not out of the risk zone. Morning hours the northern portion of alabama into georgia. Portions of tennessee and louisiana. Mississippi. By the afternoon and evening hours we expand into the carolinas and florida panhandle. Temperatures by the afternoon should be 80s around central portions. 70s widespread. Dont let the weather stop you. Get out and vote. Easier said than done. Will the house split. Will the gop hold the senate in the president s final pitch. And what races you should be watching. Next. If these packs have the same number of bladder leak pads, i bet you think bigger is better. Actually, its bulkier. Always discreet quickly turns liquid to gel, for drier protection thats a lot less bulky. Always discreet. Midterm elections used to be boring, didnt they . They dont know what to do. Theyre going crazy. Speaker of the house nancy pelosi. Time to vote. Polls open in a few hours. Big stakes for the next two years. Welcome back to early start. 31 minutes after the hour. The ads running nonstop of the tv. Theyre almost over. About to go away. Were finally here. Midterm elections today across the United States. The polls open along most of the east coast in about two and a half hours. On monday President Trump campaigned for Senate Candidates in ohio. Indiana and missouri. The final pitch to his base. Essentially a mix tape of his greatest hits. The key is you have to vote. Because in a sense i am on the ticket. I shouldnt say this. Because i want to unite. I do want to unite eventually. But the fact is were driving them crazy. Were driving them crazy. They dont know what to do. Democrats are inviting caravan after caravan. Isnt that nice. Of illegal aliens. To flood into the country and overwhelm your community. The radical democrats take power. They will take a wrecking ball to the economy. And to the future of the country. If you dont want to be saying the words speaker of the house pelosi. The Midterm Elections used to be boring. Didnt they . Do you remember what they were . People say midterms what is that . Now its the hottest thing. The border has been a key part of the midterm pitch. Cnn learned he hated that main tv ad unvailed last week. To close out the campaign. That featured an upbeat message on the economy. Republican Officials Say the president insisted on a hard line antiimmigration message to fire up the base. That ad racist in tone. And subject matter rejected by cnn. Later by nbc and eventually even fox news wouldnt accept mown and run it anymore. That was before the net work biggest star appeared on stage. At the president rally in missouri. Something sean hannity said he wouldnt do. Mr. Trumps constant talk about migrants and caravan. The top aid tells us there are many in the party who prefer to win on the economy. Quote without dehumanizing and fear mongering. The president maybe getting the message. This oped says america faces a critical choice. Whether to build on the policies. Or whether to allow democrats to take control and take a giant wrecking ball to the economy. And your future. The most noteworthy thing the president said monday was not on stage. In an interview in washington. He said he may have one regret. Is there anything as you look back at the two years that you regret . That you wish you could take back and redo. There are certain things. I would say tone. I would like to have a much softer tone. Yesterday he said hell own whatever happens. Its really about the candidate. But if they want to give me the credit or liability. Ill take it. Today vote the president warned against illegal voting without any evidence of significant threat. Meantime the u. S. Intelligence community is in a ready, set go posture. Prepared to protect voting systems against a threat. And facebook said it has taken down dozens of pages acting on a tip from u. S. Law enforcement about Online Activity. That maybe linked to foreign entities. Lets bring in white house reporter. Live in washington. The president with all the rallies and 40 of them. I lost count. These rallies have been a hallmark of the president s strategy. Here. In the midterms. Last night he was announcing his daughter on stage. There was a moment that got a lot of attention. Especially since were talking about women being an energized part of the base. Listen. The truth is shes a very youre not allowed to use the word beautiful anymore. When you talk about women. No, no. Its politically incorrect. No, no. Its politically i will never call a woman beautiful again. Every man here raise your hand. You will never ever say your wife, your girlfriend anybody is beautiful. Right . Im not allowed to say it. Because its my daughter ivanka. Shes really smart. Okay so you can call a woman beautiful. You cant sexually assault her. Thats what we have learned. You kaentd touch a woman. Thats the bottom line. You can seen stage. Sarah sanders. Kellyanne conway. The president had sort of his right hand women. And ivanka trump went onto give a Detailed Analysis of the economy. Very straight and smart. How is the president here with women in the final moment of the Midterm Campaign . I think what we saw there is a return to some of the themes that trump thinks put him in the white house. Attacking Political Correctness is something he probably thinks attracts support to his president ial campaign. We have seen him return to the inflammatory themes. That made him stand out from republicans. Immigration. This hard line and controversial comments about immigration. Thats the thing that distinguished his campaign. During the gop primary. In 2016. Now youre seeing him return to the areas where hes most comfortable. Turned everything into a culture war and hoping that that kind of inflammatory argument can drive turn out. The problem is whats helpful in some of the states where hes been visiting in some of the senate races like for example in arizona. Where immigration is a top issue. Immigration could drive turn out. Its not helpful in the districts where women and voters are not going to respond to an us versus them culture argument that the president is making. He maybe helpful in the states where republicans are trying to pick off the democratic senator. Here at the end of his campaign tour. Its not helpful where republicans are exposed. I want to ask the three states he was in yesterday. Youre both beautiful women. Im comfortable saying that. On camera. Youre allowed to. I do firmly believe that. Those three states like most the president visited in recent days. Hes nationalized the elections. Is there a risk in making it a national and not local . Theres a huge risk. Republicans have been encouraging candidates to focus on the district. To high lagt their voting records. Or focus on what they have done for the community. And not get sucked in to the daily back and forth of what the president tweeted and done. And nationalizing the midterps so much has put some republicans in an uncomfortable position. For example in that kentucky six race. The house race. Andy bar the republican had to come out and say he didnt support the president last minute call to cancel birthright citizen ship. And he had to come out and criticized tariffs. Because they impact the district. These republicans have to walk a fine line between not alien ating the trump voters they need to win. But trying to keep the focus local. And not get dragged into a national conversation. And you see democrats running in republican districts doing the same. Highlighting. Not necessarily trying to go after trump. As aggressively. But there is a pressure because the midterm is so nationalized. Aisle be watching carefully iowa. And the so called blue wall. That turned. So decisively for trump. In the general election. That a governor race there. A couple house seats are up. And this is where tariffs the president s tariffs have been felt. And iowa farmers in particular. Have given him lee way here. Soybeans are stored. Hoping to sell before they rot. Ill be interested to see what happens in iowa. Thats right. For david young the two republicans congressman in iowa. They interestingly not taken a very hard line against trump. When it comes to tariff. Even though the citizens have been very much affected by the policies. Thats a risk. That will be interesting to see if it pays off. They do need the trump voters in districts. Trump won both districts in 2016. But, this is a policy thats unpopular among a lot of soybean farmers. And it will be tested against the reality of whats happening in the district. That will be a an interesting test of trumpism. All right. We asked last half hour if democrats do well, why. Now its your turn to tell us if republicans have a good night. Defy expectations. Why is that . If republicans over perform tonight it will be because of the economy. The Unemployment Rate is 49 year low. Wages are going up. And analysts have remarked that its kind of crazy. Republicans are in such a vulnerable position. Even though under their leadership the economy is ding so well. It speaks to the antitrump drag that is effecting republicans and the party of power does typically lose seats in the first Midterm Election of a presidency. The economy is doing well. And also if republicans do well it could be a sign that nationalizing the Midterm Elections was helpful. Because it drove Republican Voters who might be come lay sent to the polls. Because the it does come down to turn out. Is he still right . After all the years. Thank you so much. Come back in a few minutes. 42 minutes passed the hour. Missile launches in iran. Putting the waivers on some of the countries is something the iranians say is a defeat of the Trump Administration by iran. It was interesting to hear iran will remain defiant and saying he believes the fact the waivers are in place is something that obviously is very positive. For the Islamic Republic of iran. These are system of the biggest importers of iranian oil. And the one everybody is looking to is china. By far the biggest importer. And the chinese have come out forcefully against the Trump Administration saying their ties to iran are legitimate and dont believe the u. S. Should be infringing on the ties. Meanwhile the iranians roadway main in defiance and flexing their military muscles. One things they did at the drills is test a new sur false to air missile system. As cnn is reporting apparently the pentagon turned down a request by Central Command to beef up military resources of the United States in the persian gulf region. Believing that possibly there could be a reaction by the iranians to the sanctions. Theres no evidence of that happening at this point.
