We know a press conference recently said the water levels are in their favor for the operations. The officials said they hope to speed up the attempts today. They do have climbing rescue teams aboveground looking for holes. Trying to cover all angles. We talked to a diving rescue expert earlier in the program who said essentially they are being towed out. The boys. A lead rescue diver tethered to the boy and the second diver behind the boys. They dont have to necessarily learn how to scuba dive to get out. This is a frightening situation for anyone with experience diving in caves. Let alone someone who did not know how to swim or begun to learn scuba. It is a long road to recovery. We told you there were reports. A lot of chatter around the cave entrance that someone had come out. Another boy had come out. There was a boy. Ai fifth boy on the stretcher. That is over 20 minutes ago. This journey, we are not sure how long it takes. Somewhere between 6 and 11 hours depending on the difficulty and condition. We have a member of the rescue operation who is stationed at the entrance to the cave network telling cnn that he witnessed a fifth boy being removed from the cave on a stretcher. So it sounds as if the rescue operation that has been under way now for more than five hours has successfully emerged with one of the remaining eight boys that was left inside the cave network after four rescued on sunday evening. Has now emerged. That is all of the details we have of the latest rescue. At the start of the day, we had eight boys left in the cave network and the soccer coach. A 25yearold man. Now it appears the number has reduced by one. We dont have any information about the health or the state of the latest rescue. We will of course bring that to you when we find out. We know the four boys rescued sunday evening came out staggered within two and a half hours of each other. First two. 10 or 20 minutes apart and two hours later, another boy brought out. They were using full face macsk used to bring them up to the surface. The rescue efforts is a mission of 90 people. It is thai rescuers and international rescuers. They are taken to the hospital about an hours drive away where the area is sequestered for the children and they remain in quarantine because officials are worried the immune systems are weakened. They are not allowed to see their parents yet. The news as of now, within the last, i would say, half hour, 4 27 local time, a fifth boy has been brought out of the cave network on a stretcher. That is helping them. Water levels and bright sunny skies has been something that is working for them so far today. Lets go to the hospital. About an hour drive away from where ivan is located is matt rivers. He has been there reporting on the boys as they have been coming to the hospital. Matt, are you there . Reporter i can hear you, christine. Great. We know a fifth boy has come out of the cave. He is on a stretcher. Thats all we know. Presumably he is heading toward you. Reporter what we expect to happen is exactly what we saw here last night. We were here live reporting when we saw the first four ambulances with the four first boys rescued yesterday here if thailand. The protocol we expect to be similar. What happens here is media access gets locked down. That has happened. Media was allowed to roam freely outside the hospital behind me. The road has been shutdown. That is what we saw yesterday, christine, before the boys made their way here. We are expecting a similar protocol. What is happening in the hospital, earlier this week, a protocol was set up, a section of the floor was transformed to a speciali Isolation Unit. As the boys are coming out the cave, they are remaining in the Isolation Unit. If a Family Member comes to see them, they have to wear a special suit. There is a fear there could be a weakened immune system or diseases that they are not sure about yet. They are taking every precaution to make sure the boys are given the best chance to recover and they dont get Family Members sick. After that, five to seven days of observation period for the boys in the hospital just in case symptoms present several days after they arrive out of the cave. They want to be sure they can be treated here. That is what these boys are facing. Christine, there is a sense of progress and sense of unity by the people behind us here. The police and medical personnel. Everyone is jubilant that another boy has come out of the cave. The hope is all of the beds in the special Isolation Unit can be filled up today and tomorrow and perhaps the day after that. Matt, what we understand, they evacuated the first four yesterday. They are doing that as a form of solidari solidarity. When all of the boys come out, they will presumably come down to the hospital. Officials are keeping it close to the vest in terms of which boys have come out. A lot of conflicting information going around. We have been hearing names, but nothing that cnn can independently verify. We are staying away from the reporting. Presumably the parents are hearing humors. There is solidarity of the parents who have gone through so much over the past two plus weeks. They have gone through a lot together and in a unique position that no one else is in. I have admiration for the boys to be in zero visibility and miles from home under rock. It is the most difficult thing a human body can sustain. I have full admiration. They will be scared. Although the rescuers are continuing and five boys are out. Of course, morale is growing. They will be sent on with the message if my mates can be out, then i can be out. They are waiting their turn and getting ready and hoping for the best. The kind of rescue we are talking about here. Some of the sections are completely under water. Muddy and rushing water. Others are tight to try to squeeze through with the equipment as well. There are dry sections in here. There are really hairy, hairy sections as well. How important is it for the rescuers to keep the boys calm . It is not natural to be breathing out of an apparatus in the dark with the rushing muddy water around you. It isnt. It is mans worst fear. You are in the dark. You are in water. You are in an environment you never experienced before. All of the children have done before is get head wet in the sea or swimming pool. That is all they have done. They are doing remarkable job. It is truly terrifying for them. The only solace is they are heading in the right direction.
